Streszczenie:
This paper examines the growth and development of the literature of “environmental communication” research. The paper collects citations of all papers matching specified keywords covering environmental communication topics in the social science journal literature from relevant indices. The indices used were: the Institute for Scientific Information's (ISI) Social Sciences Citation Index (Web of Science), the ISI Arts and Humanities Citation Index (Web of Science), Communication Abstracts, PsycINFO, Anthropological Literature, Sociology Abstracts and Periodical Abstracts (Pro-Quest Direct). The paper analyzes the collected citations for journal of publication, date, and frequency of publication by year, author, and keywords and topics. The paper shows what topics of attention, what fields, and what journals have been interested in publishing environmental communication research, and some of the authors leading the way. In addition, basic topics of interest for environmental communication research are discerned. The literature review shows the need for a more centralized point of publication for environmental communication research.

With the data from the Web of Science Core Collection-Citation database for the period (1970–2020), we conducted a dynamic visual systematic review of the literature on academic publishing with the help of bibliometric software, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer. The main purpose is to reveal the internal structures and hidden inferences, including the diversified discipline, top-ranked journals, most widely occurring topics, most cited and leading articles, highly productive and outstanding scholars, and most contributing institutions and countries. The co-citation, co-occurrence, cluster detection, and strong citation burstness were employed to show the intellectual base, evolutionary stages, and dynamics of transitions of academic publishing. The study defines the whole profile of international academic publishing, presenting its diachronic evolution, identifying research front, detecting emerging trends and abrupt changes. It expands the previous paradigm that ignored the large data corpus, aiming to provide certain reference value for future research of academic publishing.

Pharmacy is a multidisciplinary research field that combines natural sciences, health sciences and social sciences to study drugs and pharmaceutical preparations from multiple perspectives. The study explores publishing patterns in pharmacy via bibliometric methods, that is statistical methods applied to study scientific literature. Earlier bibliometric studies focusing on pharmacy have used data from the international citation databases Web of Science and Scopus. In most of these studies, pharmacy has been operationalized by focusing on journals categorized as pharmacy journals. This study provides a new approach to the study of publishing patterns, by using data from institutional Current Research Information Systems (CRIS), and by using pharmacy organizations as the basis of operationalization of pharmacy. It seeks to provide a more comprehensive picture of publishing patterns, since the data covers all publication types used in pharmacy and is not limited to pharmacy journals. The objective of this study is thus to explore whether the selection of databases and operationalization of the discipline affects the results concerning publishing patterns in pharmacy. The results obtained in this study are very similar to earlier studies utilizing international databases. However, the results show that pharmacy researchers also publish in national languages, and that there are several national journals amongst the core journals that are not covered by the international databases. The multidisciplinary nature of pharmacy can be seen in the wide range of journals in which pharmacy researchers publish their articles.

The article is devoted to the study of genre features and creative potential of modern Ukrainian literature, which has the form of digital self-publishing. The study used hermeneutic, comparative, system-structural and structural-functional methods, as well as conceptual, plot-image, problem-thematic analysis, text-analytical method of "careful reading" to read the archetypal and code content of texts and others. Currently, there are more than 10 literary digital self-published resources inUkraine. However, the prose resources "Booknet" and "Arkush" have the real influence on the literary process. Both allow authors to communicate with readers through digital self-publishing. Five factors influence the work of modern Ukrainian authors: 1) the influence of classical Ukrainian and world canons; 2) the influence of postmodernism both in the literature and at the social and ideological levels; 3) the influence of mass literature of the Russian Federation; 4) the influence of translations and modern European literature; 5) the influence of the Internet and communication with the reader. In the context of digital self-publishing, each of these factors has its own specifics. The influence of cinema on mass literature is especially powerful. This can be manifested as a replication of the template (simplification), and in the form of systemic plot and psychological complication of textual structures. Today, digital self-publishing is represented by a whole range of genres: fiction (science fiction, fantasy, mystical prose, etc.), realism (historical, romantic, social, psychological novel, detective, thriller, etc.), and literature for children and youth. In each genre we see original novels that are not inferior in quality to those published through publishing houses. The latter makes it possible to talk about the emergence of writers inUkrainewho can be "indie authors". That corresponds to the global changes in book publishing.

Streszczenie:
Publishing the results of research is the final outcome of a research paper - what has not been published is considered not to have existed. The aim of publishing research is to promote an original idea or to improve existing ideas, with the use of reliable sources. When writing different types of publications (research and professional papers, doctoral theses, books, etc.) it is necessary to state the sources that the ideas or text related to that publication were taken from. Science did not start with the authors of any individual research paper nor will it end with them - whatever the topic of the research is, there is a high probability that someone has already written something about it. If other authors' ideas or text are used in one's research, this must be stated in the text of that research. The standardized method of referring to sources is citing. Sources are cited in three ways: by quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing. Citing sources may be direct and indirect. Sources may be referred to in the text (citing), at the end of the page (footnote), or at the end of the paper (endnote). Different sources may be cited: books, scientific journals, pictures, videos, audio sources, etc. The basic citation unit is a reference. Software for reference management enables the authors of publications to gather and organize references, insert quotes into the text, and create a bibliography. There are many such different programs. Some can be used free of charge (Mendeley, Zotero), while others must be purchased (EndNote). With the development of Internet technology, this type of software is also developing new functions in order to facilitate cooperation and networking amongst researchers, as well as to assist in the development of academic social networks. Accurate citing ensures the integrity of existing scientific knowledge that is being presented, it contributes to the reputation of a scientific journal and strengthens the credibility of the author and the research itself.

Information and Learning Science, 188(1/2), 67–89. https://doi.org/10.1108/ILS-09-2016-0068 Abstract Objective – To determine the scope and distribution of information literacy research documents in the humanities and social sciences published from 2001 to 2012. Design – Bibliometric analysis. Setting – N/A Subjects – 1,990 document records retrieved from a Scopus database search. Methods – Using the database Scopus, the author created and conducted a search for documents related to the concept of information literacy. Articles, review papers, conference articles, notes, short surveys, and letters were included in the results. Only documents published from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2012 were included in the study. The author then performed various bibliometric analyses of the results. Main Results – The author found that the number of publications and citations have increased over time, although the average citations per publication (ACPP) decreased significantly during the time period being studied. The majority of the literature published on this topic is in English and produced within the United States. The Transformative Activity Index was calculated to determine changes in publishing patterns across countries from 2001 to 2012. The amount of research collaboration across countries was calculated as well, with the U.S. being the most collaborative. The top journals publishing on this topic were identified by calculating the h-index. An individual from Universidad de Granada in Spain published the greatest number of articles from a single author, and this university was found to have produced the greatest amount of research. Documents produced by the United Kingdom have the highest citation rates. A total of 1,385 documents were cited at least once, and each item on average was cited five times. Conclusion – Most of the articles on information literacy in the social sciences and humanities comes from developed countries. The results of this study may help to inform those interested in researching this field further.

The study of scientific book publishing, due to its enormous social and state significance, is an urgent task of modern research. This article is the first to consider the system of scientific book publishing in the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS) in the period of 2001–2010 thus determining and adding to the history of regional and Russian scientific book publishing. The purpose of the study is to present the development of the system for publishing scientific literature in the SB RAS during this period. The source base of the study is representative: these are numerous documents of the current archives of the Siberian enterprise “Nauka” RAS (Novosibirsk Printing House No. 4) and the Siberian Publishing Company “Nauka” RAS, regulatory acts of the Presidium of SB RAS, Annotated thematic plans for the release of scientific literature for 2002-2010, Publishing houses of SB RAS, materials of the weekly newspaper SB RAS “Science in Siberia” for the same period. The revealed data allow reconstructing the picture of the scientific book publishing system development in SB RAS and its thematic orientation in the first decade of the XXI century. The results obtained show that the prevailing part of published scientific literature – every third edition – during this period was on archeology, history, philology, philosophy, law.The study refined quantitative data on the release of serial publications, revealed the role of the Presidium SB RAS in developing the system of scientific book publishing, expanded the idea of cooperation between SB RAS and SIF “Nauka” RAS.The results obtained provide an opportunity to redefine and assess the evolution of their relationship during the period under review. The continuing decrease in the share of CIF in the total volume of publications of SB RAS can be interpreted as the crisis increase, but the implementation of significant and complex publishing projects speaks for a new paradigm of relations between them: mutually beneficial, effective and promising.

In the first cross-national, mixed-methods study on gender, family, and science, the authors examined the relationship between research productivity and family life for male and female physicists and biologists in four countries: India, Taiwan, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Drawing on surveys of 5,756 respondents and follow-up interviews with 369 participants, the authors found that the relationship between family responsibilities and publishing operates differently for men and women. Additionally, this relationship is conditioned by the national context in which the scientists work. The interviews indicate that family responsibilities constrain women’s publication productivity according to context. Cross-contextual differences are partially explained by the macro-level gender norms transmitted to academic scientists and how women navigate their scientific research productivity and family responsibilities. The findings have implications for the broader literature on the dialectical relationship between macro-level gender norms and responses by scientists in India, Taiwan, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

The social indicators movement has been a disappointment to its originators. By the late 1970s, at least in the US, the great hopes for social indicators to become a major influence on public policy had been tempered. The outpouring of literature using the term ‘social indicators’ dwindled. Policy scientists turned their attention to other topics or found new labels for their interests. The Social Science Research Council closed its Social Indicators Research Center in Washington, DC and stopped publishing its newsletter. And in the US no annual social report seemed likely to be institutionalized. Many observers decided the social indicators movement was a failure.

One of the difficulties in developing a new area of research in any field is the lag time between the interest in the area on the part of researchers and the interest in publishing on the part of editors. Initial work may appear in books or publications outside the disciplinary mainstream and be overlooked in literature searches that focus on established journals. Further, work appearing in mainstream journals may be constrained by traditional paradigms and reflect Anglocentric and sexist biases of traditional research. This has been true for work on Hispanic women, which has been hallmarked by Anglocentric and sexist bias (Senour, 1977). This 134-item bibliography addresses the difficulty of identifying the diverse work on Hispanic women in the U.S. and Puerto Rico by bringing a large part of it together in one place. We have three goals. The first is to facilitate the integration of material on Hispanic women into the curriculum of psychology. The second is to promote and disseminate research on the psychology of Hispanic women. The third is to recognize contributions of early researchers who have pioneered in developing and articulating knowledge about this neglected group. We want to emphasize that this bibliography is not comprehensive. The focus is on scholarly work in the English language that advances understanding of Hispanic women's uniqueness and diversity as a group. Studies that included Hispanic women in their sample but did not specifically focus on Hispanic women or did not conduct gender or gender/ethnicity analyses were not included.

AbstractPurpose Publishing research data for reuse has become good practice in recent years. However, not much is known on how researchers actually find said data. In this exploratory study, we observe the information-seeking behaviour of social scientists searching for research data to reveal impediments and identify opportunities for data search infrastructure. Methods We asked 12 participants to search for research data and observed them in their natural environment. The sessions were recorded. Afterwards, we conducted semi-structured interviews to get a thorough understanding of their way of searching. From the recordings, we extracted the interaction behaviour of the participants and analysed the spoken words both during the search task and the interview by creating affinity diagrams. Results We found that literature search is more closely intertwined with dataset search than previous literature suggests. Both the search itself and the relevance assessment are very complex, and many different strategies are employed, including the creatively “misuse” of existing tools, since no appropriate tools exist or are unknown to the participants. Conclusion Many of the issues we found relate directly or indirectly to the application of the FAIR principles, but some, like a greater need for dataset search literacy, go beyond that. Both infrastructure and tools offered for dataset search could be tailored more tightly to the observed work processes, particularly by offering more interconnectivity between datasets, literature, and other relevant materials.

The trustworthiness of research findings has been questioned in many domains of science. This article calls for a review of the trustworthiness of the scientific literature in industrial–organizational (I–O) psychology and a reconsideration of common practices that may harm the credibility of our literature. We note that most hypotheses in I–O psychology journals are confirmed. Thus, we are either approaching omniscience or our journals are publishing an unrepresentative sample of completed research. We view the latter explanation as more likely. We review structural problems in the publication process and in the conduct of research that is likely to promote a distortion of scientific knowledge. We then offer recommendations to make the I–O literature more accurate and trustworthy.

The subject of the study is the role and place of cooperative publishing houses in the formation of the domestic consumer market of book products and scientific assessment of organizational, publishing and trade activities of publishing cooperatives in the context of the new economic policy (NEP). The purpose of the scientific article is to study the role and place of cooperative publishing houses in the formation of the domestic consumer market of book products and, through the prism of studying the problems of economic history, to give a scientific assessment of organizational, publishing and trade activities of the NEP. Methods of research. All components of the study are based on fundamental principles – scientific, historicism, objectivity, system, development, priority of concrete verity, pluralism; and also the methods of knowledge of social and economic processes of social development – analysis, synthesis, problem-chronological, comparative analytical, archaeological, retrospective, statistical, a systematic and integrated approach. Research methodology. In the process of the study, the fundamental principles were based on Economic History and History of Economic Thought, the Ukrainian and foreign scientists’ works and experts in this area. Results of work. In the context of this issue, we explored the role and place of cooperative publishing houses in the formation of the domestic consumer market of book products and, through the prism of studying the problems of economic history, gave a scientific assessment of organizational, publishing and trade activities of the NEP. The field of application of results. The results of this research can be applied to study the issues of Economic History and History of Economic Thought, History of the Publishing Industry. Conclusions. Thus, cooperative publishing houses were business-type societies, organizationally and functionally belonged to cooperative societies, and on the other hand - were public associations with editorial, production, economic and socio-cultural functions. Examining the activities of cooperative publishing houses, it can be stated that they occupied an important place in the distribution and printing of various literature: socio-economic, socio-political, agricultural, artistic, children's books, textbooks, natural, military. Consumers of book products of cooperative publishing houses were the most various social and professional groups of the population: workers, peasants, employees, women, youth, military, children. By distributing literature in a country where almost two-thirds of the population was illiterate, publishing houses contributed to the full operation of educational institutions, raising the intellectual and spiritual level of society, creating conditions for the development of science, art, culture and education. There was a completely organic connection between publishers' cooperatives, cultural, educational, and scientific institutions, and a kind of intellectual and spiritual dependence developed due to the high demand for books, as publishers published literature from all fields of knowledge. The activities of cooperative publishing houses of the NEP period, especially the formation of the organizational structure and the implementation of advertising and propaganda work should be taken into account when developing the legal framework of the national program of book publishing in Ukraine.

Aware of the challenges faced by the social sciences in publishing a massive volume of research papers, it is worth looking at a novel but no longer so new ways of machine learning for the purposes of literature review. To this end, I explore a probabilistic topic model called Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) in the context of the epistemological challenge of analysing texts on social welfare. This paper aims to describe how the LDA algorithm works for large corpora of data, along with its advantages and disadvantages. This preliminary characterisation of an inductive method for automated text analysis is intended to give a brief overview of how LDA can be used in the social sciences.

The decades leading to the third millennium was marked with concerted efforts by governments to raise their knowledge generation and contribution profile in the community of nations. Thus, all kinds of financial and promotional incentives have been offered to academics and researchers to publish papers in international journals, particularly ISI journals. It is argued that quantity and quality of articles published in ISI journals is an indication of scientific capabilities of a country and a yardstick for assessing its development. This research study aims to identify barriers that academics face in publishing papers in ISI social/humanity science journals. A questionnaire based on extensive literature review and a series of unstructured interviews was developed and tested. A stratified sampling method was used to collect data from academics of four social/humanity science faculties of a provincial university in the northwest of Iran. The findings revealed that respondent’s perceived lack of proficiency in a foreign language, poor information technology infrastructure and inadequate access to international scientific databases and uncontrollable factors related to the nature of social science disciplines and political climate as the major barriers that prevent or de-motivate them to publish in ISI journals. The research findings were discussed and concluded, and recommendations were made to reduce or remove barriers to publishing in ISI journals.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to delineate a model of library publishing, the library as publishing partner, that reflects the diversity of institutions in higher education. Design/methodology/approach – The model is based on a particular case, but also on the integration of literature on institutional theory, emerging scholarships and library science. Findings – The paper argues that increasing diversity in higher education requires us to think creatively and strategically about different models for library publishing. The library as publishing partner model is presented as an alternative to a one-size-fits-all model based on the experience of research institutions. Research limitations/implications – The library as publishing partner model is intended to spark further research and conversations about models for other institutional types. Practical implications – The library as publishing partner model has potential applications at other public comprehensive institutions (or those with similar missions). Social implications – The library as publishing partner model is intended to combat the tendency in higher education toward academic drift and to contribute to an increasingly diverse landscape in higher education. Originality/value – This paper presents an original model, the library as publishing partner, but also argues for an original perspective, in which academic libraries at different types of institutions can be constructively differentiated from each other.

This research significantly contributes to comprehending the body of work surrounding green economics and sustainable economies by methodically reviewing and categorizing papers from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection. It highlights key authors, subjects, publishing sources, and nations relevant to green economic studies by meticulously analyzing 4,157 papers. Additionally, it constructs detailed visual maps based on referenced sources. By conducting a thorough bibliometric analysis, this study underscores the importance of using such tools to gauge research impact and productivity. Leveraging the WoS Core Collection, particularly the Science Citation Index Expanded and the Social Sciences Citation Index, was deliberate to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of green economic research. The data accentuates the changing landscape of this field, indicating its growing significance and the expanding academic discussions around sustainable economic practices. The research delves into emerging research directions that could inform considerations for a sustainable economy. Despite the marked increase in publications in recent years, signaling heightened interest in green economics and sustainable economy studies, this field remains in its infancy, with limited quantitative studies conducted. Consequently, many findings remain inconclusive, and numerous aspects in literature remain unexplored. Finally, this study outlines both practical and theoretical implications gleaned from its findings.

The Family Journal ( TFJ) has experienced increases in manuscripts submitted for publication, especially from international scholars and quantitative researchers. This reverses a previous trend to publish more practice-oriented articles for our clinical readership. The journal will take efforts to balance theory, research, and practice. Some manuscripts are rejected for distribution to the editorial board (or “unsubmitted”) due to problems conforming to the APA Publication Manual 7th Edition guidelines. Some submissions would benefit from reviews by colleagues and securing the services of an editor. Authors are asked to attend to guidelines concerning levels of headings and formatting of citations and references. Most importantly, authors should follow bias-free language guidelines. There are additional considerations in the desk review process such as including practice implications for Marriage and Family Counselors in the article and incorporating relevant previously published articles from TFJ in the literature review.

Digital Archive of Literary Organizations of the 1920s-1930s. The essence of the project consisted in digitizing transcripts of meetings of proletarian writers’ unions and placing them in a specially prepared digital database. Turning to these sources allows the literary critic to focus on the functions of literary institutions: production, communication, consumption and distribution of material and symbolic goods. The speakers noted the prospects of an extensive path - the expansion of the material involved in digitization, and the intensive development of the project. The discussion of the results ended with general support for the idea of publishing the next volume of the Literary Legacy, dedicated to the history of proletarian writers’ unions, the output of which would crown the historical and literary research vector set by the project Transcript: Politics and Literature.

In this article the authors analyse narratives of the ‘agents’ associated with book publishing in Latvia, instrumentalizing the Bourdieusian theoretical framework of habitus–capital–field in order to understand the particulars of power relationships in the national book publishing field. Based on the results of the narrative analysis, authors conclude that power relationships in book publishing in Latvia have historically shifted during periods when major social transformations have taken place in other fields of the social world (e.g. political, economic) and echoed in the publishing field in the form of altered conditions. Depending on each agent’s position in the field, these changes have meant that values and meanings linked with the practice of publishing have either had to be adjusted or been significantly disruptive.

In a broad sense, science can be understood as the knowledge contained in scientific manuscripts published in scientific journals. Scientific databases index only those journals that reach certain quality standards. Therefore, research and dissemination of scientific knowledge are essential activities for the growth of science itself. The aim of this manuscript is to assess the situation of medicine and environmental sciences among the bibliometric literature and to put it in perspective with the overall bibliometric publications in all scientific fields. The main countries publishing bibliometric manuscripts are China, USA and Spain. The latter country is ranked three out of the top five institutions according to the Scopus and WoS databases. In both databases, the average scientific collaboration of the top 20 institutions offers the same result, 41%. According to Scopus, the main subject categories in which this research falls are social sciences (38%), computer science (26%) and medicine (23%), while the environmental sciences category has 8%. In the analysis of the Medicine category alone, it has been observed that 136 countries have contributions in this field. The main countries are the United States, China and the United Kingdom. In the field of medicine, the main areas studied were: Epidemiology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Oncology, Plastic Surgery and Psychiatry. With respect to environmental sciences, less international dissemination has been found, with only 83 countries having worked in this field. The main ones are China, Spain and the United States. Regarding the top 10 institutions, it can be stated that only Spain and China are relevant. Spain focuses on sustainability and China on the environment. The result of an independent keyword analysis of all published bibliometric manuscripts has shown that the main clusters are: Mapping Science (29%), Research Productivity (23%), Medicine (20%), Environmental Sciences (12%), Psychology (7%), Nursing (6%) and Engineering (4%). In short, medicine and environmental sciences are the most relevant areas in the field of bibliometrics after social sciences and computer sciences.

The research question and problem statement I posed to answer simply has been: what kind of patterns and specific discourses can be identified around the keywords of “information security” and “social construction” in information systems and its related reference fields such as social sciences, management studies, decision sciences extended to psychology. We may start summarizing the conclusions by stating that “information security” and “social construction” in the SCOPUS domain offers a wide range of literature in the social sciences and related subject areas; the initial search resulted in 406 article hits, whose basic bibliographic parameters with keywords and abstracts were downloaded. I categorized this sample according to the journals H-index, the Scimago Journal & Country Rank (SJR) Q1‒Q4 ranking and the individual papers’ citations, into five—socalled structural—clusters. Three papers were identified as the highest referenced and most influential, and analysed separately. The other were clustered as follows: 30 papers were classified into CL1, a high impact cluster due to its high citation and H-index, 122 papers were grouped into CL2, a mature cluster, due to their publishing date and medium referencing, 71 papers fell into CL3, a high potential cluster, due to their high H-index and recent appearance and, finally 152 papers were clustered into CL4, the mainstream of the sample due to their medium impact and wide spread of publishing dates. These clusters were further analysed with basic text mining techniques: word counting, key word analysis, textual clusters and N-Gram analysis, and concordance analysis. I found that clusters are different as far as the academic discourse on information security evolves, and each contain unique added value to the social construction of information security amongst users, institutions, technology and public policy. Finally, conclusion and further research opportunities are presented.

Purpose Whistle-blowing, which has become an integral part of the post-publication peer-review movement, is being fortified by social media. Anonymous commenting on blogs as well as Tweets about suspicions of academic misconduct can spread quickly on social media sites like Twitter. The purpose of this paper is to examine two cases to expand the discussion about how complex post-publication peer review is and to contextualize the use of social media within this movement. Design/methodology/approach This paper examines a Twitter-based exchange between an established pseudonymous blogger and science critic, Neuroskeptic, and Elizabeth Wager, the former COPE Chair, within a wider discussion of the use of social media in post-publication peer review. The paper also discusses false claims made on Twitter by another science watchdog, Leonid Schneider. The policies of 15 publishers related to anonymous or pseudonymous whistle-blowing are examined. Findings Four issues in the Neuroskeptic–Wager case were debated: the solicitation by Wager to publish in RIPR; the use of commercial software by Neuroskeptic to make anonymous reports to journals; the links between “publication ethics” leaders and whistle-blowers or pseudonymous identities; the issues of transparency and possible hidden conflicts of interest. Only one publisher (Wiley) out of 15 scientific publishers examined claimed in its official ethical guidelines that anonymous reports should be investigated in the same way as named reports, while three publishers (Inderscience, PLOS and Springer Nature) referred to the COPE guidelines. Originality/value No such Twitter-based case has yet been examined in detail in the publishing ethics literature.

Abstract This article is a transcript of the London Book Fair’s inaugural sustainability keynote delivered by Dr Richard Horton, Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet. Horton delivers a challenge to the publishing sector to consider how sustainability sits alongside the ever-increasing uncertainties in the world, such as the ongoing pandemic and Ukrainian crisis. He spoke about the important role that publishing plays as an early warning system for society, introducing the concept of planetary health that demands consideration of a safe and just space for humanity alongside respect for planetary boundaries and the social and economic foundations of a healthy life. Horton finishes with three key challenges to publishers: to stand for something, to invest in our future, and protect the freedom of expression.

In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the press in Serbia underwent a substantial change and began to reflect cultural trends in society. Delo, defined as a magazine for science, literature and social life, attracted a wide circle of contributors, intellectuals with different outlooks and views. Its editors and contributors, mostly educated and trained in European cultural centres, contributed to the creation of a climate conducive to the modernization of Serbian culture. This paper focuses on the role of French cultural and literary trends launched in the Delo, whose editors and contributors closely followed the leading French journals, translating and publishing the texts they deemed important for Serbia?s cultural development. French literature offered guidelines and models to the realist and naturalist movements, subsequently also to modernist and avantgarde tendencies in Serbian literature. The start of the journal in 1894 is associated with the Radical Party, but the Radical ideological influence on the journal was not as strong as might be expected. Choosing science, literature and social life as the journal?s areas of interest the founders and editors demonstrated their commitment to modernizing the young Serbian state and society by way of culture.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the status and problems with the Korean academic publishing industry and suggest various countermeasures or alternatives. As a result of searching for the current status of academic book publications to achieve specific research purposes, neither the Korea Publishing Culture Association, which represents the publishing industry in Korea, nor any institution such as the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency and the Korean Academy of Sciences are systematically organized to enhance researchers tasks. The current status of academic book publications can only be approximated based on the excellent academic books selected annually by the National Academy of Sciences and the Korea Publication Industry Promotion Agency. In the midst of this, the industry has been in sort of a crisis due to illegal copying of literature, a decrease in the school-age population and the number of users, and online classes. Therefore, the need for a systematic approach/arrangement of the publication statuses of literature is considered imperative. In addition, measures to prevent illegal copying of academic books include conducting related campaigns with increased education concerning this problem and introducing typographical copyright. The budget of the National Research Foundation of Korea for academic publication in the humanities and social sciences need to be expanded to help combat this. Other suggestions include accelerated activities associated with the conversion of academic books to e-books.

From the perspective of non-Anglophone countries, accountability, liability, and capacity of scientific research is often related to the process of internationalization. The article explores the effects of this process on the example of publication and citation patterns of Serbian scholars. Results of the analysis are mostly in line with the common conceptions about the differences among scientific disciplines. Authors in social sciences and humanities have manifested more nationally oriented publication and citation behavior, tendency to cite older literature, and stronger preference towards non-journal literature. However, huge individual differences among scholars and some inconsistencies between their publication and citation patterns, reveal a form of latent conflict between the accustomed publishing behavior in social sciences and humanities and the new dynamics of knowledge production. This conflict obscures the notion of typical or expected behavior of scholars in certain disciplines and has important implications for research evaluation. Scholars in social sciences and humanities were not so eager and successful in shifting their communication to the international arena. For them, national journals still play a crucial role in the “local” information exchange. But the question is how one transitional country that is facing serious structural challenges and weak economy can afford to support “locally relevant” research projects and whether national journals have become a mere tool for an ungainly customized research evaluation in the social sciences and humanities.

Journal editors serve a vital role because they are the gatekeepers of new scientific knowledge. Given the workload and time pressures associated with their role, editors face an important ethical dilemma: Should they allocate sufficient time to the editorial role or should they focus on their individual research performance, which is an important determinant of salary increases, promotions, and other financial rewards? We borrow from the macro-level corporate social responsibility literature to conceptualize editorial responsibility in terms of the triple bottom line of economic, social, and environmental performance. Our thesis is that there are recursive relationships among the economic, social, and environmental editorial performance dimensions such that editors who do good (i.e., social and environmental performance) also do well (i.e., economic performance). Thus, we bridge micro and macro domains by adapting a macro-level theory to the individual level of analysis and also bridge science and practice by discussing the impact of journal editors and scientific journals on a broad set of stakeholders including universities, research consumers, and society. We also offer suggestions to guide future research on whether the three editorial performance dimensions are part of a virtuous cycle that develops over time through mutually reinforcing feedback loops.

The systematic review methodology was applied to analyze 264 peer-reviewed articles published from 2010 to 2020, extracted from the Web of Science core collection database. Descriptive and bibliometric analysis techniques were used to document the findings. The analysis revealed an increase in the trend of publishing disinformation on social media and its impact on users’ cognitive responses from 2017 onwards. The USA appears to be the most influential node with its more significant role in advancing research on disinformation. The content analysis identified five psychosocial and political factors: influencing individual users’ perceptions, providing easy access to radicalism using personality profiles, social media use to influence political opinions, lack of critical social media literacies, and hoax flourish disinformation. Our research shows a knowledge gap in how disinformation directly shapes communal psychosocial narratives. We highlight the need for future research to explore and examine the antecedents, consequences, and impact of disinformation on social media and how it affects citizens’ cognition, critical thinking, and well-being.

Abstract This article seeks to identify what scientific journals have been publishing in terms of ethics and bioethics in the field of physical education. We carried out a systematic literature review in January 2020 in LILACS, SciELO, Web of Science, Virtual Health Library, PubMed, Scopus, ERIC, and SPORTDiscus. Articles in English published between 2005 and 2018 were found, with 12 studies selected according to the expected inclusion criteria. It resulted in four categories: physical education as a means for personal development in the school environment, potential of sport as a means for moral education as virtue formation, level of knowledge of physical education professionals about ethics, and ethics in the training of these professionals. We consider that, although issues related to ethics and bioethics in physical education appear in the literature, expanding studies on this theme, still on the margins of scientific production in the field, is necessary.

This review essay speaks to the crisis of Area Studies, offering a view from the field in the form of a review of Tsugaru Gaku (Tsugaru Studies) as a specific Area Studies research case. After presenting an overview of the work of social science researchers working in Japan, both foreign and Japanese, the essay turns to major questions articulated in the literature of Area Studies regarding the purpose, character and future of Area Studies. By reviewing the multi-dimensional and combinative implications in the process and dissemination of his own social science research work together with consideration of the work of Japanese social scientists conducting research in rural Japan and publishing in Japanese, the author positions such ‘domestic,’ place-based sociological and anthropological research as a vital contribution to the future of Area Studies. Capitalizing on social scientific research that can contribute to Area Studies research requires a view of the ‘plasticity of research.’ Further, recognition of the ‘hybridity of the Area Studies researcher,’ both as the trained Area Studies specialist as well as a ‘domestic social science researcher’ capable of theory, methodology and analysis, as well as dissemination of Area Studies research originating in a specific place and in a specific language, is vital to the future of Area Studies research.

To analyse the research progress and frontier dynamics of green supply chain management, this paper uses Web of Science’s citation database to search and filter related documents from 2007–2018. A total of 1391 articles were obtained. On this basis, a bibliometric analysis method was utilized to study the literature characteristics and research hotspots of green supply chain management research. Our results show the following: (1) The current amount of published literature on the field of green supply chain management is exponentially increasing. Research on green supply chain management tended to develop after 2013. (2) The current research on green supply chain management has not formed a core author group and among the literatures on green supply chain management, only a few authors reported some influential literatures. (3) It can be seen from the comprehensive average citation frequency and the number of publications that Hong Kong Polytechnic University, University of Southern Denmark and others have a strong research capability and a large field influence in the field of green supply chain management research. (4) There are 13 core journals publishing the research of green supply chain management, covering 10 fields including engineering, mathematics and social issues. (5) At present, the research hotspots of green supply chain management mainly include the following: Green production and innovation, green supply chain management theory and method, and sustainable supply chain environment and performance. Finally, this paper analyses the shortcomings of previous research and proposes a future direction for research development.

The number of scholarly journal articles published each year is growing, but little is known about the relationship between journal article growth and other forms of scholarly dissemination (e.g., books and monographs). Journal articles are the de facto currency of evaluation and prestige in STEM fields, but social scientists routinely publish books as well as articles, representing a unique opportunity to study increased article publications in disciplines with other dissemination options. We studied the publishing activity of social science faculty members in 12 disciplines at 290 Ph.D. granting institutions in the United States between 2011 and 2019, asking: 1) have publication practices changed such that more or fewer books and articles are written now than in the recent past?; 2) has the percentage of scholars actively participating in a particular publishing type changed over time?; and 3) do different age cohorts evince different publication strategies? In all disciplines, journal articles per person increased between 3% and 64% between 2011 and 2019, while books per person decreased by at least 31% and as much as 54%. All age cohorts show increased article authorship over the study period, and early career scholars author more articles per person than the other cohorts in eight disciplines. The article-dominated literatures of the social sciences are becoming increasingly similar to those of STEM disciplines.

Streszczenie:
Science mapping (or mapping knowledge domains) has been a hot topic in scientometrics field since 1990s. Science maps are generally created by analyzing different kinds of scientific literatures, including journal articles, conference proceedings, patents, books, and monographs. Citation analysis (eg. direct citation, co-citation, bibliographic coupling and hybrid approach) with units in different granularity (eg. authors, keywords, articles, journals and cate-gories) is the most popular method to create maps of science. In this study, paper-level classification codes of science based on Chinese Library Classification Scheme (CLC) are used to draw global maps of science. Paper-level classification codes of 3,490,665 academic articles published from 2008 to 2018 in 1,687 core Chinese journals indexed by CSSCI (Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index) and CSCD (Chinese Science Citation Database) are harvested and three kinds of approaches (publishing, co-assignments and citing networks with various of interdisciplinary measures) are applied to construct and analyze global maps of science. The novel CLC-based science maps reveal new relations among different disciplines of science in Chinese knowledge organization system, which offers a new way to comprehensively understand the landscape of scientific domains and how they interact.
