Streszczenie:
Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the use and continued intention to use six social media applications (SMAs) (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Skype and Instagram) by small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kuwait. Design/methodology/approach A survey of 357 SMEs in Kuwait was conducted to achieve the study objectives. Findings The study results showed that SMEs mostly used application was Facebook (by more than three quarters of the SMEs), and the least used one was LinkedIn (by around 6 per cent of the SMEs). Also, approximately third of the SMEs used YouTube, Instagram and Twitter. Of those, more than one third used these applications daily. The study also found that both gaining popularity and enjoyment were the main motivations for using all six applications by SMEs. Moreover, the study found that the applications were mostly used for information, communication and marketing. Research limitations/implications SMEs used and have continued intention to use SMAs for their enjoyment and usefulness, because other SMEs use them and because of their complementarity. In light of the results, several recommendations were suggested to increase the use and continued intention to use SMAs by SMEs in Kuwait. For academics, it may give them an idea of the extent to which SMEs use SMAs in doing work activities, which they can use as a starting point to investigate other factors that might influence the use SMAs by SMEs. Practical implications For practitioners especially SMEs owners and managers, it may help to encourage them to use the SMAs and to raise their awareness of the benefits of these applications to their work. Social implications The findings generally suggest that SMEs need ongoing support from the government, industry or any bodies that are interested in the development of SMEs. This support includes providing a more comprehensive view about SMAs such as raising the awareness of SMEs about the potential benefits of some of these applications such as YouTube, Skype and LinkedIn and conducting training courses that help SMEs to set up rules, procedures and strategies on how to use these various applications. Originality/value SMAs have a number of characteristics that make it a suitable option for doing SMEs’ work activities. Therefore, SMAs could provide SMEs with opportunities for interaction and communication with customers and suppliers. Although the literature describes the different aspects of these applications and their potential benefits for people in general and industry in particular, little research has attempted to explore the actual use of these applications especially by SMEs in developing countries in general and in Kuwait in particular.

In most countries, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a key role in driving sustainable economic growth and job creation; hence, the need to investigate factors (e.g., entrepreneurial factors) that influence SMEs’ sustainable growth (SMESG). This study provides an insight into entrepreneurs’ abilities (EAs) that affect SMESG in Côte d’Ivoire (a middle-income economy located in the West African region) and an assessment of the extent to which entrepreneurial orientation (EO) influences the EA–SMESG relationship. By using data from 320 Ivorian SMEs, the results of hypothesis testing confirm an association between SMESG and each EA dimension (creativity, risk control, relationship, and opportunity detection ability), learning ability excepted. As for the moderating effect of EO, the innovativeness in entrepreneurship positively and significantly regulates the EA–SMESG relationship; proactiveness positively regulates the relationship between almost all EA dimensions and SMESG; and risk tendency regulates the relationship EA–SMESG for creativity and risk-control ability. Based on major findings, management implications are formulated in relation to promoting SMEs’ sustainable growth. For example, in light of the impact of EA on SMESG, development actors can increase the efficiency of Ivorian SMEs through actions aiming at strengthening the abilities of entrepreneurs and managers.

Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) are undeniably playing a significant role in the economic development of many countries globally. This role performed by the SMEs has been distracted by the global pandemic COVID-19 (Coronavirus). The pandemic brought about lockdown, movement restrictions, market closure, social distancing, etc. Thus, these restrictions and controls of the movement have particularly affected small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. This study aims to examine the effect of the coronavirus pandemic on the small and medium scale business in Yobe State, Nigeria. The study adopted a survey research design. Data were obtained through a questionnaire administered to 278 SMEs in Yobe State. The data were analyzed using descriptive and regression analysis using SPSS. The findings of the study indicate owners/managers of SMEs that participated in the study rated the variables of COVID-19 (lockdown, movement restriction, market closure, and social distancing) on a high level. The result further revealed that all the variables in the study correlate with SME's performance. Interestingly, the findings indicate three variables have a significant positive effect on SME's performance, the highest among is the market closure, followed by movement restriction and lockdown accordingly. While social distancing shows no significant effect on SME's performance. Therefore, it is recommended that proactive plans should be put in place for SMEs in anticipation of events such as COVID-19 that can hurt businesses. Finally, future research should consider other related variables that have not been considered in this study.

The number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) comprises a significant share in total number of enterprises in national economies, the SMEs are considered to be the backbone of economic growth, and most often their significance is valued by the gross value added and a number of new jobs created. Notwithstanding the established role of SMEs in national economies and the research studies conducted by Latvian scientists, the author considers that the theoretical and practical aspects of the SME's performance have not been sufficiently studied and published in Latvia. The purpose of the current study is to explore the theoretical and practical aspects of the SME's performance. The theoretical study is based on the analysis of the research publications, and the practical aspects are analysed using statistical information. General scientific research methods – information analysis and synthesis, the logical construction, monographic, data grouping and graphical representation methods – are used in the research. In the result, the theoretical aspects of the SMEs' performance are explored and the main indicators measuring the SMEs' performance are assessed.

SME sector, particularly manufacturing SME's, must recognize importance of economic sustainability and seek out routes that support for sustainability, like ecopreneurship. This study explores ecopreneurship adoption intentions while expanding the theory of planned behaviour model by incorporating moderating effect of collectivism. The population of research is comprised of Pakistani manufacturing SMEs. Study's sample includes of manufacturing SMEs operating in Lahore region. Employees of SMEs were surveyed to obtain data. The results suggested that attitude to ecopreneurship, subjective norms and self-efficacy are primary drivers of ecopreneurship. Further, outcomes revealed that collectivism has moderating effect amid observed variables. Also, relevance of three-way interactions for attitude, subjective norms, and self-efficacy with collectivism has shown moderating effect of collectivism. Environmentally responsible firms SME's generate greater possibilities since many successful businesses are ecologically aware and continually seek the economic benefits by being green. The research is thus restricted to Pakistani manufacturing SMEs.

The research study finds the impact of COVID-19 on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in South Asian countries (excluding Afghanistan, due to the two-decades-long war on terrorism) by taking quarter-wise data from 2020 to 2021. By using the panel data random effect technique, the results demonstrate a negative relationship between COVID-19 spread and SMEs exports, as a one percent rise in the COVID-19 pandemic will result in a decline of 91 percent in exports of SMEs. The results also demonstrate that, with the exception of TTF (SME Financing as a % of Total Trade Finance), all explanatory variables are significant. SME Financing as a % of total trade finance (TTF) has a negative relationship with SMEs exports. Both BCS (Bank credit to SME sector) and NOB (percentage change in the number of SME borrowers) have a positive relationship with SMEE (Exports of SMEs), indicating that when BCS and NOB rise by one percent, SMEE will rise by .98 and 13.17 percent, respectively. The constant/intercept value shows that the SMEs exports will be 49.74 units when all other explanatory variables are set to zero. The research study also posed a policy recommendation in the situation of the COVID-19 epidemic, that what necessary and immediate action to be taken to save the lives and restore the economies of South Asian counties.

In many industries, teamwork is critical to enterprise existence. However, many manufacturing small and medium firms (SMEs) in Nigeria have failed to survive before their fifth birthday. The aim of this positivistic study is to examine the effect of teamwork on the survival of manufacturing SMEs in Nigeria. A structured questionnaire is used to collect data from 364 owner-managers of manufacturing SMEs selected using stratified random sampling technique. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is used to analyze data. Results show that teamwork has a strong, positive, and significant effect on the survival of manufacturing SMEs in Nigeria. More specifically, the dimension of communication is a strong predictor of SME's survival, followed by recognition, team spirit, and collaboration. The study concludes that there is a variety of critical dimensions of teamwork for the survival of manufacturing SMEs. The study also recommends that if manufacturing SMEs are to survive and thrive in Nigeria, owner-managers must demonstrate and promote a multi-dimensional and nuanced vision of teamwork. The study's findings have key pragmatic and research implications.

SMEs are one of the elements of the economy affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This study wants to see the impact of the pandemic on the SME's business cycle, as well as to measure the tax equity in the implementation of income tax along with the incentives provided. This study uses a narrative approach in a qualitative corridor based on the data obtained from interviews. As a result, the impact of the pandemic on SMEs varies greatly depending on the type and strategy of the business. This diversity erodes tax equity in terms of income tax and its incentive specified to SMEs. To overcome the tax equity issue, both professional dan academic sectors need to disseminate accounting for SMEs during the transition.

Innovation has become an essential source of sustainable growth for most firms, especially small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Governments around the world widely implement innovation vouchers to promote innovation in SMEs. This study empirically explores the effects of innovation vouchers in stimulating patentable innovation and ultimately enhancing firms’ financial performance. Using a panel of 1274 listed SMEs from the Small and Medium Enterprise Board (SMEB) and the Growth Enterprise Board (GEB), we find that innovation vouchers lead firms to utilize knowledge-intensive services and significantly increase their financial performance. We further document that patentable innovations mediate the relationship between innovation vouchers and firms’ financial performance. We report that the effects of innovation vouchers on financial performance are more prominent for SMEs with limited external informational resources. We believe that our study yields novel evidence and sheds further light on the important policy implications of innovation vouchers to facilitate the sustainable growth of SMEs.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) trail large organizations in leveraging IT systems. SMEs are beginning to understand the significance of implementing IT systems like ERP for improving their preparedness in business processes. Hence the objective of this research article is to develop a framework to analyse SME's organizational preparedness for implementing the technology. This research applies a General Morphological Analysis (GMA) framework to explore suitable models and variables for IT change preparedness to realize the benefits of ERP implementation in SMEs. An SMEs drawback in implementing IT tools is specifically due to a lack of knowledge and an acute shortage of resources like investment and manpower. The review of literature in this article using general morphological analysis is novel for ERP implementation in the SME sector. Based on the review of articles, a morphology with a technology organization framework and environment (TOE) framework which evaluates technological, organizational and environment is most adequate to understand the IT readiness for ERP among SMEs.

This study's main goal is to evaluate the effect of microfinance on Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Gujarat by using the Gujarat as a case study. The simple random sampling procedure was used to choose the 60 MFIs and 140 SMEs that made up the sample size for the study. A structured questionnaire was created to make it easier to gather pertinent data for analysis. Data presentations and analysis have strategically used descriptive statistics, which uses straightforward percentage graphs and illustrations. The study's conclusions show that a sizable portion of SMEs are aware of MFIs' existence, and some recognize the beneficial effects of MFI loans in encouraging their growth. In addition to providing financial assistance, it is advised that microfinance institutions always offer expert guidance to SMEs since this will help them determine if the amount they are requesting is too much or too little for the project. The microfinance institutions should hold seminars and workshops to inform SMEs about their policies, the wise use of money for SMEs, and the criteria used to evaluate loans. To gain the faith and trust of SME's, the microfinance banks should also start additional development initiatives.

The study used survey methods by distributing questionnaires to 265 SME business owners in North Kalimantan. The sampling method uses nonprobability sampling with a convenience sampling technique. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression analyses and moderated tests using the macro process of SPSS Hayes. The results of this study indicated that in the context of SMEs in the creative industry, customer intensity and value creation play a critical role in business success. Meanwhile, proactiveness, opportunity-focused, risk-taking orientation, innovation-oriented, and resource leveraging found no impact on SMEs' business success. The research also proves that the company's age moderated the impact of customer intensity on SME's success but does not moderate the influence of value creation to SME's business success.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of information asymmetry in the relationships between Portuguese SME's capital structure decisions and creditors, comparing the results of service SME with those found in manufacturing SMEs.Design/methodology/approachTwo samples of Portuguese SMEs are considered: one sample is composed by 610 unlisted service SMEs; and, the other sample is made up by 381 unlisted SMEs in manufacturing industry, for the period 1999‐2006. To estimate the results, the two‐step estimation method is used, to control possible bias arising from data selection. In the first step, probit regression is used. In the second step, after the control for possible data bias, dynamic panel estimators are used.FindingsThe results obtained suggest that information asymmetry in the relationships between SMEs and creditors has a greater relative influence on capital structure decisions of service SMEs than on those of manufacturing SMEs.Practical implicationsGiven the increasing importance of service SMEs in the Portuguese economy for stimulating employment, business volume, and consequently economic growth, it would be advisable for policy makers to create special long‐term lines of credit, with advantageous terms, so that Portuguese service SMEs, when internal finance is insufficient, can finance more efficiently the growth opportunities and the strategies for diversification. In addition, since SMEs' capital structure decisions present differences, both concerning the sector of industry and over time, the measures adopted by policy makers should differentiate their measures between industry sectors and over time.Originality/valueFirst, this paper is pioneering in comparing the adjustment of actual short‐ and long‐term debts, in service and manufacturing SMEs, towards the respective target ratios. Second, it is pioneering in using dynamic estimators and in using the two‐step estimation method, in studies of determinants of capital structure decisions of service and manufacturing SMEs.

PurposeThe purpose of this study was to identify if network embeddedness and innovation performance relationship, which has been largely studied in multinational enterprises (MNEs) and large corporations, was also applicable in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Secondly, the authors also sought to identify the moderating role of innovation openness in the relationship between network embeddedness and SMEs' innovation performance.Design/methodology/approachEmpirical analysis was based on 388 SMEs in Ghana. Various validity and reliability checks were conducted before the presentation of the actual analysis, which was conducted using the structural equation modeling in Amos (v.23).FindingsFindings revealed that, in the context of SMEs, network embeddedness had significant positive effect on innovation performance. The authors further identified that SMEs with both high levels of network embeddedness and innovation openness had a much higher performance in their innovation, compared to SMEs that relied solely on network embeddedness.Research limitations/implicationsThe current study found innovation openness to further strengthen the relationship between network embeddedness and SMEs' innovation performance. The relationship between network embedded and SME's innovation could, however, be mediated by knowledge transfer mechanisms, so future studies should pay particular attention to the mediating mechanisms.Practical implicationsManagement of SMEs is advised to develop conducive organizational structures, such as trust, openness to collaboration and so on, for effective innovative knowledge transfer and transformation.Originality/valuePast research studies on network embeddedness and innovation performance have dominantly resided in MNE and large corporations. This current study extends the body of knowledge by extending the network embeddedness and innovation performance research studies to SME context.

Small and medium-sized firms (SMEs) have a vital social and economic role because they make up roughly 97 percent of all active businesses in Malaysia. SMEs, which are at the core of every economic system, have a significant impact on sustainable growth. Unfortunately, many SMEs struggle for survival in the contemporary worldwide economic environment as a result of the pandemic COVID-19. SMEs are essential to the health of any economy because of their contributions to GDP and employment. Apart from pandemic, there are numerous more causes for the decline in business among SMEs. These include a lack of sufficient operating capital, ineffective management, and insufficient application of crucial business and management techniques. Since SMEs prioritize economic performance over social and environmental factors in order to remain competitive, sustainability is a big challenge. The use of Management Accounting Practices (MAPs) that can provide essential information to management is crucial to ensuring the business's effectiveness and efficiency. Management accounting is a part of accounting that provides economic and relevant financial information to managers and other internal users for them to make business-related decisions. Thus, management accounting information has an important part to play with respect to planning, monitoring, and controlling of the activities of SMEs. MAPs which comprise financial and non-financial information is one of the important management accounting information that should be utilized by the SMEs in order to enhance their sustainability. Consequently, the goal of this study is to outline the MAPs that SME's can use to improve their sustainability.

An empirical analysis is based on the Business Environment and Enterprise Performance Survey conducted by the World bank with a combined sample of 2002 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary. The results of the Structural Equation Model indicate that product innovation performance is slightly higher among SMEs that are proactive in strengthening their relationships with innovative suppliers, users, and consumers. Furthermore, the findings of this paper support the view that SMEs will have better new product development results if they improve their relationships with foreign-owned firms and collaborate with external research firms. Again, the empirical study will give insights into the SME's product innovation outcomes in the Visegrad Group and a wake-up call to SME's practitioners and stakeholders on the need to collaborate externally across the European regions.

One of the greatest challenges facing traditional small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) throughout the world is that posed by the Internet. While the Internet offers great potential to SMEs, from improving and cheapening production processes through to reaching global customers, it also poses great problems. SMEs' resources, human and financial, are usually very limited. This article examines the use of e-commerce, particularly via Websites, among SMEs in Wellington, New Zealand on the basis of a 2003 survey of 106 firms. Almost all the SMEs surveyed used computer technology and about 67% had their own Website. Moreover, 83.1% had launched their Website within the last five years, reflecting the influence of the recent and rapid growth of information and communication technology in New Zealand and around the world. Enhancement of corporate image, reaching new markets, product checking by customers and better communications with customer and suppliers were among the main objectives of the SMEs in setting up their Websites. The survey findings also indicate a strong relationship between the use of a Website and a widening customer base and improvements in turnover. While the presence of a Website is of the utmost important to an SME's development, problems such as the lack of internal resources, technical expertise and maintenance skills are common. The study concludes that appropriately skilled workers (designers, IT specialists, etc), technical training programmes and the availability of advisory services relating to e-commerce and Website operation are of great importance to SMEs.

PurposeThis study investigates the influence of inter-firm linkages between small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and large firms on the relationship between an SME's creditworthiness and its access to finance.Design/methodology/approachSurvey questionnaire was distributed to 456 SMEs in the manufacturing sector in the Selangor and Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur regions and a total of 145 useable responses were gathered. Investigation into the possible differences in the effect of creditworthiness – and its dimensions – on access to finance for SMEs with and without linkages are examined using Partial Least Squares-Multi Group Analysis (PLS-MGA).FindingsIt is found that the relationship between creditworthiness and access to finance is significant for both SMEs with and without links to large firms. However, no significant difference is found in the effect of creditworthiness on access to finance for both types of SME. Further analysis on the five different dimensions of creditworthiness shows statistically significant differences between SMEs with links and those without for the dimensions of collateral and condition. This implies that alliances formed between SMEs and large firms do not have much of an influence on the overall creditworthiness but do influence the collateral and condition of the SME.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the understanding of the effects of interfirm linkages on SME creditworthiness and access to finance. To the authors' knowledge no such study has been conducted on links between SMEs and large firms, especially in a developing country such as Malaysia.

PurposeElectronic commerce (EC) strategy – performance logic has gained significant popularity in the literature, particularly from the resource-based view (RBV) of theoretical underpinning. However, such an obsession of focusing on organizations' complementary resources has been increasingly challenged, which has pressed the RBV to examine the possibility of external factors that can also impact firm performance. In this study, the authors shed light on the firm's external readiness—defined as the extent to which a firm's customers and suppliers perceive EC as important—in the relationship between SME's complementary resources and firm performance.Design/methodology/approach The authors employed a refined data set based on the British EC Award database, in which the authors sampled 430 British SMEs' senior managements and examined how EC investments made by the SMEs influenced firm performance, and how their external readiness moderated this main relationship.FindingsThe results showed that, in line with the RBV perspective, SMEs' complementary business resources and human resources both had strong and direct impacts on the firm performance. They were also strongly mediated by EC functionality. In addition, SMEs' external readiness moderated the relationship between human resources and firm performance and that of EC functionality on firm performance.Originality/value The findings contribute to RBV theory building by extending earlier research on the role of technology as performance enablers for SMEs and shed light on the often-overlooked role of SMEs' external readiness.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to focus on organisation’s cybersecurity strategy and propose a high-level programme for cybersecurity education and awareness to be used when targeting small- and medium-sized enterprises/businesses (SMEs/SMBs) at a city-level. An essential component of an organisation’s cybersecurity strategy is building awareness and education of online threats and how to protect corporate data and services. This programme is based on existing research and provides a unique insight into an ongoing city-based project with similar aims.Design/methodology/approachTo structure this work, a scoping review was conducted of the literature in cybersecurity education and awareness, particularly for SMEs/SMBs. This theoretical analysis was complemented using a case study and reflecting on an ongoing, innovative programme that seeks to work with these businesses to significantly enhance their security posture. From these analyses, best practices and important lessons/recommendations to produce a high-level programme for cybersecurity education and awareness were recommended.FindingsWhile the literature can be informative at guiding education and awareness programmes, it may not always reach real-world programmes. However, existing programmes, such as the one explored in this study, have great potential, but there can be room for improvement. Knowledge from each of these areas can, and should, be combined to the benefit of the academic and practitioner communities.Originality/valueThe study contributes to current research through the outline of a high-level programme for cybersecurity education and awareness targeting SMEs/SMBs. PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to identify the role intermediaries can play in an small to medium‐sized enterprise's (SME's) pursuit for corporate sustainability with a focus on eco‐innovation. The research identifies drivers and barriers for eco‐innovation, and highlights effects induced through collaboration between SMEs and local authorities, on the one hand, and consultancies, on the other.Design/methodology/approachThis paper is based on an exploratory qualitative interview study among German SMEs of the metal and mechanical engineering industry that have participated in “Ecoprofit”, an intermediary based program that aims at introducing organizations to the concept of sustainable development through implementation of eco‐innovations.FindingsThe key findings are that first, the proactive approach by a public intermediary (here local authority) is one essential push factor to trigger eco‐innovations in SMEs with low absorptive capacity. Second, it is found that SMEs may need facilitation for eco‐innovation from different types of intermediaries (public and private) with different levels of support, which can range from customized and individual to more loosely held support, such as networks.Originality/valueThis study discusses the challenges of corporate sustainability with a focus on eco‐innovations for SMEs and proposes a “complex intermediary” consisting of a local authority and consultancies as one means to engage SMEs in sustainability. Moreover, it focuses on SMEs in the B2B context, organizations that are often overlooked despite their vast impact. Furthermore, by using a single industry approach, in‐depth findings for the metal and mechanical engineering industry are presented.

The firm’s involvement in innovation became a necessary attribute for firms to remain competitive and successful. However, innovation is still considered a hallmark of large firms only. The literature on SME's involvement in innovation is scant and needs further exploration regarding the innovation process in the SME firms. This paper aims to hint the gap of knowledge related to the association between the owner-manager characteristics and innovation orientation at the SMEs. A review of relevant literature was exhausted for the achievement of the study objective. The findings of the study highlight that to fully explore the innovation process at the SME level, there is a need to divide the innovation concept into innovation creation and innovation adoption as two discrete concepts effected by the owner-manager personal characteristics. Literature hints at these two conceptualizations of the innovation among SMEs, but empirical examination is non-existence. Therefore, this work recommends future research endeavors to empirically examining the direction and strength of the relationship between owner-manager characteristics and SME's innovation performance in terms of creation and adoption. Moreover, literature and policy direction can be drawn from the respective research activities.

This paper assesses the impact of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) activities on economic development in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria. To achieve this theme, an instrument Called Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Survey Questionnaire (SMEQ) was developed which focused more on employment generation and poverty reduction. The population of the study was chosen based on the two thousand six hundred and thirty-four (2634) registered SMEs with the Rivers State Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 2019. Based on simple random sampling technique, a total of three hundred and thirty-eight (338) respondents were sampled. Relying on descriptive statistics and logistic regression estimation techniques, the data were analyzed. Analyses of the respondents’ opinion suggest that the major businesses engaged in the study area were restaurant, tailoring and beauty/hair dressing. Again, majority of the respondents were of the opinion that SMEs operators do not have increased access to basic social-economic amenities. The output of the logistic regression result has it that an increase in firm size can improve the chances of SMEs fostering economic development in Obio-Akpor while increase in the salary of employees could also enhance the chances of SMEs to redress the rising poverty level too. Streszczenie:
The importance of the Internet in supporting business applications and attaining competitive advantage through the electronic business (e-business) process is widely acknowledged. However, many SMEs have been slow in adopting the Internet and even those SMEs that have adopted the technology have not fully utilized it to support their business applications. The reason behind this scenario could be the lack of awareness concerning the necessity and possibility of adopting e-business for specific functions along the value chain. Thus, the aims of this study are to investigate the extent of Internet marketing practices to support business applications among SMEs in Malaysia as well as the outcome of Internet marketing implementations on the business performance of SMEs. The results indicate that the usage of Internet varies across the marketing practices and is likely to influence business performance.

Streszczenie:
Moroccan SME's are involved in local development and are currently the subject of several studies. Furthermore, Moroccan SMEs are crucial to the country's economic growth since they produce value, create employment, and play an important role in local development. The goal is to identify the factors that influence its export performance. This performance can be influenced by the governance system, which is defined as a set of mechanisms that have the effect of limiting managers' powers and influencing their decisions. In this light, the purpose of this paper is to demonstrate, using a sample of food SME's in Agadir city, that a good governance system improves export performance and accelerates the process of SME internationalization. Based on the findings of this study, we can infer that SMEs with effective internal governance mechanisms, such as an internal control and consultation body and strong hierarchical control, may improve their export performance and, as a result, their internationalization potential.
