Streszczenie:
In order to help banks formulate Credit Strategies for small, medium-sized and micro enterprises, this paper analyzes enterprises from two aspects. On the one hand, starting from the enterprise's data and from the enterprise's relevant data, including qualitative indicators such as reputation level, invoice information, credit record and operating income, a model is established to quantitatively analyze the operation status and reputation status of the enterprise. On the other hand, through the analysis of the "maximum lending rate" and "maximum lending rate" of the bank, we can analyze the "maximum lending rate" and "how much lending rate" of the bank. Combining the above variables, we can get the best credit strategy of the bank under the factors of credit risk and income. Firstly, without considering the influence of other data, this paper abstracts five indicators to measure the reputation status and enterprise-scale from the data of small and medium-sized enterprises with credit rating, quantifies the indicators. At the same time, the Euclidean distance is calculated by MATLAB modeling, the correlation between lending enterprises and non-lending enterprises is analyzed, and the high-risk enterprises in lending enterprises are selected. Then, among the remaining enterprises that can issue loans, five different credit strategies are formulated according to the weighting of their credit rating and enterprise scale as the primary basis for the number of bank loans and interest rate. Secondly, the focus is on how to comprehensively quantify the credit status and business problems of small, medium-sized and micro enterprises without credit records. Without considering the influence of other data, this paper mainly analyzes the correlation between the enterprises without credit records and the enterprises mentioned above that do not grant loans. It preliminarily obtains the enterprises that can grant loans. Then, through decision tree modeling, the loan demand of enterprises with different credit levels is estimated as a variable. By fitting the curve between interest rate and customer churn rate, different interest rate ranges under different levels are obtained as the second variable. Finally, through the above two variables, we establish the profit function of bank credit, find the corresponding variables at the maximum value, and formulate relevant credit strategies.

In this paper, we select eight indicators from the aspects of an enterprise’s bill transaction information, namely, whether the enterprise’s loan is in breach of contract, effective invoice rate, total utilization rate of price and tax, negative invoice rate, strength of enterprise, coefficient of variation, flow efficiency of assets, and influence of upstream and downstream enterprises; then, we construct an evaluation index system. According to different industries, different categories, and the impact of random factors, we divide the types of enterprises into 10 categories. Then, we use three kinds of Poisson random numbers to carry out numerical simulation on the total price and tax of enterprises in different industries under the influence of COVID-19.

Organizational knowledge and intellectual property can be protected, either formally via IPR, or informally via efficient knowledge management. Successful IP protection requires systematic intellectual property and knowledge management. Intellectual property protection via efficient knowledge management affects the entire organization rather than being just a separate task. It needs to be embedded in organizational work routines, practices, and processes as an overall operational strategy. When embedded in organizational work processes, IP protection and knowledge management become a continuous part of work routines and tasks in the enterprise, not a separate action.

Streszczenie:
Abstract An important task of state regulation of investment in the agricultural sector of the economy is to attract investors who are able to increase the efficiency of the functioning of agricultural enterprises. The success of the functioning of this enterprise depends on how quickly an agricultural enterprise is able to adapt to changes in the external environment. This is achievable under the condition of the most optimal use of the enterprise’s resource potential. Small agricultural enterprises are usually deprived of the possibility of using highly productive innovative agricultural technologies in their activities due to their high cost. Farm enterprises are also experiencing difficulties with insurance and attracting bank loans. In the competition with large agricultural enterprises, small farms survive mainly thanks to state subsidies. Large agricultural holdings are more financially stable, their economic activities are more diversified compared to farms. At large agricultural enterprises, labor productivity is higher and the cost of production is lower. The main task of the state for ensuring food security is to facilitate the process of consolidation of agricultural enterprises. The liquidation of small farming enterprises is an objective process that results from free market competition. The consolidation of agricultural enterprises will allow more efficient use of agricultural land in agricultural production.

This paper presents views on the small enterprise financial objective function that are sympathetic to existing financial thought, but which capture complexities arising in small enterprises that frequently receive minimal attention in the mainstream finance literature. It is argued that the small enterprise financial objective function should reflect the kinds of enterprise-specific risk that typically exist in small enterprises arising from liquidity, diversification, transferability, flexibility, control, and accountability considerations. A conceptualization of the small enterprise financial objective function by extension of conventional utility theory is presented. It is believed the resulting utility function holds promise as an explanatory framework for financial behavior in small enterprises in that it provides valuable insights into owner-manager decision making and small enterprise development. Consideration is also given to asset pricing model, which consequently might be used in small enterprise financial management.

Streszczenie:

Background: Though small enterprises are regarded as engine for the modern economy, they are not pioneers when it comes to implementing new advances like tacit knowledge transfer procedures. Tacit knowledge is often referred as skill, know-how and expertise which are embedded in each individual in an organization. The critical skills and competences of employees are intangible assets and firms’ intellectual resources. In this context, the tacit dimension of knowledge is potentially important to be transferred among individuals, either in tacit or explicit form, to build the core capabilities of small enterprises.

Problem Discussion: The existent Knowledge Management (KM) research has been mainly focused on big companies, providing little information for small enterprises. Authors believe the lack of attention that those small enterprises are putting on the strategic management of their knowledge is worrying. Tacit knowledge is one of the less explored areas within KM due to the difficulty to codify, formulate or express it. Despite this fact, it is perceived as “some kind of Holy Grail that will enable magnificent things to happen as soon as the codes of tacit knowledge have been deciphered”.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to increase the understanding of the transference of tacit knowledge among individuals within small segment of small enterprises.

Method: To gather the information pertaining to tacit knowledge transfer in the small segment of small enterprises, authors have performed a qualitative and explanatory research by conducting several interviews with two small companies.

Result: Tacit to tacit knowledge transfer has been identified as more relevant than tacit to explicit conversion in the small segment of small enterprises. Therefore the main drivers of the transference of tacit knowledge are learning at personal level and common culture. Time, cost and distance have been recognized as major problems for small enterprises when transferring tacit knowledge.

Streszczenie:
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are considered the price of entry in today's business environment, and the number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) retiring legacy systems in favor of ERP systems is increasing exponentially. However, there is a lack of knowledge and awareness of ERP systems and their potential benefit and effect on performance, and overall value to SMEs. While ERP adoption costs and potential benefits are high, it is not apparent whether the end result will translate into higher productivity for SMEs. The goal of this study is to evaluate the benefits that accrue to a firm on adoption of an ERP system. In the context of SME, a production function approach is used to assess benefits over short and long term. In addition to the production function approach, a variety of related methods such as those based on stock market valuation and Tobin's Q are examined. Data were collected using the well-known CRSP datasets for SMEs. Analysis of data suggests that ERP implementation has no effect on firm's performance as measured by profit margins, Tobin's Q ratio and Labor productivity. In fact, ERP investments do not yield noticeable improvements on the performance measures even four years after implementation. Weaknesses in data suggest that the conclusion may be seen as tentative. The results of this research study, added value to the academic knowledge base by helping to understand the effects ERPs have on SMEs overall performance.

Streszczenie:
This thesis illustrates that didactic and gnostic practices, identified through a structured Knowledge Transfer Framework, can effect business improvement in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises. Small and Medium-sized Enterprises form a significant heterogeneous economic force. They strengthen the capacity of a country to generate employment and wealth for the general benefit of regional and national economies. The importance of SMEs in the prosperity of a society and their contribution to new job creation, coupled with the recognition that they seem to underperform, enhances the need to assist smaller companies improve their performance. The author investigated the essence of Small and Medium Enterprises, conducted a literature review in Benchmarking and Self-Assessment principles and asserted the importance of knowledge in sustainable business development. The author introduced the SME Knowledge Deficit, assessed its implications on business improvement, and elaborated that the Knowledge Deficit can be addressed through the establishment of a Knowledge Transfer Framework in the SME domain. The thesis establishes the characteristics of a Knowledge Transfer Process for SMEs, leading to the development of a Knowledge Transfer Framework in the domain. This supports business improvement. The framework provides diagnostic assessment of business performance, task defined specific solutions embracing better practices and innovative advances through Win-Win Benchmarking. The analysis connects to business performance, and recalibrates Small and Medium-sized Enterprises towards better practices. Improved business performance is based on knowledge sourced from superior performing companies. This is shown to be effective despite the polyonymous and indiomorphous nature of their business environment. The Knowledge Transfer Framework combines Self-Assessment and Benchmarking practices. It is implemented through Focus Group practices. This practical research was validated in a specially selected portfolio of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the United Kingdom. It draws upon practical application in Spain and Germany. The author demonstrated that Knowledge Transfer can successfully occur amongst Small and Medium-sized Enterprises if approached through a structured methodology. The foundation of a grand Benchmarking database is not essential for Knowledge Transfer. Superior practices can be successfully sourced and disseminated via a structured Knowledge Transfer Framework and a portfolio of specially selected enterprises displaying superiority in a designated area of their business, rather than from global best practices.

Streszczenie:
This thesis examines micro-enterprises (firms with under ten employees) pursuing some degree of gradual growth. While very little research specifically targets the growth of micro-enterprises, there was a host of possible influencing factors suggested by the rather broader small business literature. Less literature was found on how the complex interaction of these factors might stimulate a firm's development. A framework was derived which suggested how the factors identified might interact with four key growth drivers, namely; management expertise for growth, owner's growth motivation, resource access and demand. The framework contributed a clear agenda for analyzing a firm's growth, while allowing the specific issues of any particular firm to be investigated within its environmental context. Sixteen case studies were investigated to allow sufficient comparison across a number of firms for some generalisations to be made with a degree of conviction, while retaining adequate quality in the detailed analysis of each firm to allow the intricate configuration of factors to be understood. Two dimensions of comparison were followed. Firstly, comparison between firms that achieved different levels of growth (no attempted growth, attempted but not achieved growth and achieved growth) and secondly comparison between different sectors (retailing, service, wholesale and manufacturing). Patterns were discovered in the interaction of these factors which allowed the original framework to be empirically authenticated and improved. The quality of the data encouraged deep consideration of the process by which factors influence the growth of the firm. The analysis suggests that for a firm to grow through the micro-enterprise phase, the combined influence of factors on all four sets of growth drivers proposed in the framework needs to be positive. The possibility of a number of different factors influencing any particular set of growth drivers suggests that no factor, however strongly motivating, will itself be essential to the growth of the firm. The framework provides a useful structure to help micro-enterprise ownermanagers and their advisors formulate growth strategies by highlighting areas which require attention. It may also afford some degree of qualitative prediction of the likelihood of a firm achieving successful growth. These results reinforce the need for researchers to accept the complexity of growth factors and not to search for simplistic solutions.

Thesis (MTech (Information Technology))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2012.
South Africa has a complex financial and retail service industry with high reliance on the use of IT systems to ensure effectiveness and maintainability. Decision making and improved outcomes may be done through an IT aligned enterprise architecture (EA) strategy. EA is a capability that contributes to the support and success of an organisations' IT. Organisations are currently using EA to better align IT and the business strategy which provides a comprehensive v.ew of the IT system. Thus, EA is increasing in organisations yet the measurement and value of EA is limited to organisations and enterprise architects. The discussions of the benefits and value of EA has been discussed for several years, however there are still no consensus about how the benefits and value of EA can be measured. The lack and clear understanding of the benefits and value of EA needs to consider different aspects of IT as well as the shareholders when measuring the benefits and value of EA to an organisation.

Streszczenie:
Organizational leaders face obstacles stemming from the lack of employee retention. An ineffective retention strategy can result in the loss of employees and the loss of institutional knowledge. Lack of appropriate retention strategies can negatively impact the reputation of the organization and ultimately affect the financial standing of an organization. Grounded by Herzberg's 2-factor theory, the purpose of this multiple case study was to explore strategies small retail business managers in Trinidad used to retain employees. I collected data through face-to-face semistructured interviews with 5 small business managers and a review of company documents. Data were analyzed using methodological triangulation, thematic analysis, and Hutchinson, Johnston, and Breckon's analytic techniques to identify patterns and themes. Member checking was completed to ensure accuracy and credibility. Five themes emerged from the data: frequent communication improved employee retention, employee engagement motivated employees, compensation considered effective retention strategy, employee recognition enhanced job satisfaction, and advancement decreased job dissatisfaction. The findings from this study may contribute to positive social change by increasing awareness of effective retention strategies. Potential insight into effective retention strategies can benefit leaders and provide stability for employees. Improvement in retention strategies can lead to stabilized employment for employees and their families thus keeping the replacement costs at a minimum and increasing organizational performance.

Streszczenie:
The study presented in this thesis investigates the influence of IT capability on the relationship between IT expenditures and long term business performance. To do so, the Resource Based View (RBV) has been used as the theoretical framework, and, within such a framework, the concept of sustainable competitive advantage has been used as a point of reference. IT capability, a term often mentioned in the scientific literature dealing with the applications of RBV in the IS field, has been the subject of this study. Within the IS discipline, IT capability is perceived to have considerable influence on the effect of IT expenditure on the long term results of an organization. However, few studies have identified the extent of this influence and indeed the very definition of IT capability has been so ambiguous that no measurement instrument has been developed and universally accepted. In this thesis we recognized this lack and carried out a multi-method study, to first identify a comprehensive definition of IT capability and then to develop and validate a measure of IT capability and evaluate its role on business performance. The empirical study was performed within the context of small-medium enterprises (SMEs),which implies a lower level of organizational complexity but in order to reflect the reality ofmodern business all such organisations were involved in inter-organisational networks within industrial aggregations in Italy. Eleven SMEs were involved in a multiple case study, and 77 SMEs (belonging to the textile and the mechanical industrial districts in Italy) were surveyed and these results analysed and aggregated to form some conclusions with respect to the meaning and influence of IT capability. The study was conducted over a number of stages to allow an initial definition of IT capability to be evaluated within a case study context and then expanded prior to the main survey. As such the literature review and analysis of previous studies was carried out in two different time periods as the scope of the study was refined.

Streszczenie:
This paper presents a methodological approach to support the running of a temporary collaborative network through the formation and operation of a virtual enterprise (VE), where the participating enterprises, especially small and medium size enterprises (SMEs), collaborate with each other for mutual benefit. Overall VE architectural framework which is considered as the baseline to execute VE manufacturing processes is highlighted in this research. Different components within this architecture such as visualization and configuration, message exchange, process designer, forecasting and simulation, optimization, cloud-based data storage, etc., are briefly explained with respect to their corresponding interfaces with each other. Among all the components of VE architecture, the user interface component termed ‘Dashboard’ is explicitly highlighted with a case example of a VE network. This Dashboard component is implemented to visualize the VE operational activities that directly contribute to monitor and manage the associated collaborative processes successfully. Further research potential along with the general research outcomes are also highlighted in the conclusion section of this paper.

Streszczenie:
Enterprise education has been regularly cited as a tool which can be utilised to not only increase the level of entrepreneurship within an economy, but also the success of those enterprises started. This paper explores the extent to which participation in enterprise education is associated with the adoption of new technology within new businesses. As this is one way that businesses can remain competitive not only within their own countries but when competing against international competition. Using data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor survey from the UK, the study finds weak evidence that those undertaking enterprise education in the form of university based schemes or government sponsored training schemes are more likely to be using newer technology. However, this relationship is relatively weak and does bring into question whether many enterprise courses are effective value for money.

Streszczenie:
Metrology is an important aspect to be cared for in Small and Medium Enterprises, mainly in the field of manufacturing. A Mexican entrepreneur said that ‘metrology is in the ladder step that brings a manufacturing enterprise from the craftsmanship level to the industrial level. Beyond, metrology can be a competitive advantage of a SME for achieving higher levels of quality, productivity, competitiveness and innovation. SMEs often find it difficult to devote the necessary resources to metrology, sometimes they don't know what metrology can do for them and other times they don't know how to take an adequate strategy for this important aspect of their company. The present work is based on the experience of a number of years attending the metrological aspects of manufacturing companies with the MESURA methodology and work team. The methodology has a number of principles which include a lean approach to metrology with a fit fur purpose tactics, equilibrium among the elements of measuring systems and live integration.

Streszczenie:
Oxfam-supported enterprises have generated high impact and demonstrated strong business performance. Now, the shift to make women’s economic empowerment a more central focus and the opportunity to generate more meaningful impact has put us on track to transition towards a new enterprise investment model. In the future, more attention will be paid to the structural injustices that women face, to change enterprise practices and generate evidence to influence institutional change so that women can exercise their agency and claim their rights. Increasing the number of women in paid jobs can only be meaningful when unpaid care and domestic work and gender-based violence are recognized and action is taken to address them.
