Streszczenie:
The purpose of research is to study the life and work of the first Soviet writer Vladimir Yakovlevich Zazubrin. His biography is described in detail and a brief description of his works is given. It is shown that the life of this person was full of bright and dynamic events. Zazubrin managed to be an underground revolutionary, a participant in the Civil War on both sides, a political worker and a Soviet writer. Impressed by the events of the Civil War, Zazubrin published his first novel, “Two Worlds,” which immediately gained popularity among Red Army soldiers, workers and peasants. After this, the writer becomes the editor of the Sibirskie Ogni (Siberian Lights) magazine and heads the Simbirsk Writers Union. However, in his works the writer tried to raise pressing problems of our time and, being a convinced communist, he remained an artist, trying to capture and show the unsightly picture of Soviet reality during the NEP (New Economic Policy) period. Many of his works, such as Shchepka (Sliver) and Blednaia Pravda (Pale Truth) raised the question of the appropriateness of revolutionary terror, the problem of unresolved social problems after the revolution, as well as the place and role of man in a post-revolutionary society. Unfortunately, the realistic picture of the post-revolutionary world by V.Ya. Zazubrin was negatively perceived by many Soviet party leaders, writers and literary critics. This became the reason for constant attacks on the writer’s work. In addition, in 1928, Zazubrin became a victim of group intrigues in the writing community and the beginning of the fight against the opposition, because of which he lost his post as editor of the Sibirskie Ogni (Siberian Lights) magazine and was expelled from the party. In all subsequent years, Vladimir Yakovlevich tried to rehabilitate his name before the party. Thanks to the intercession of M. Gorky, he managed to become a member of the USSR Writers' Union and publish his novel Gory (Mountains) about collectivization. However, despite his efforts, Zazubrin was never able to fit organically into the Soviet system, and then was crushed by it as an alien element.

The manifestation of the phenotypic dominance degree of the main stem length in F1 under hybridization of different varieties of bread winter wheat was studied during different for hydrothermal conditions 2018–2020. In the hybridization of Bilotserkivska napivkarlykova variety with medium-growing varieties of groups 1 and 2, the most common type of stem length inheritance was negative overdominance – 54.5 % and positive overdominance – 27.3 %. The degree of phenotypic dominance varied from -63.0 to +7.4. When used medium-sized varieties of group I in the crossing with the maternal form, the degree of phenotypic dominance had a signifcant differentiation from -257.0 to +35.0, and the determination of stem length in most combinations was negatively overdominated – 61.4 %. The combinations Shchedra nyva/Dobirna, Shchedra nyva/Vidrada, Myronivska early/Kolchuga, Antonivka/Vidrada were characterized by a stable manifestation of a negative degree of phenotypic dominance (h p > -1). When involved in the hybridization of medium-sized varieties of group 2 in the maternal form, the most common type of stem length inheritance had negative dominance as well. It was found that the degree of phenotypic dominance of stem length in F 1 depended on the selection of parental forms for hybridization and year conditions. Thus, in 2020, under more favorable conditions for the formation of stem length in most hybrids, a negative degree of phenotypic dominance was determined, and the inheritance was negatively dominated. High rates of negative hypothetical and true heterosis were found in the following hybrids: Shchedra nyva/Dobirna, Shchedra nyva/Vidrada, Kolchuga/Chornyava, Kolchuga/ Antonivka, Yednist/Dobirna, Kolchuga/Vidrada in 2018; Chornyava/Antonivka, Shchedra nyva/Dobirna, Shchedra nyva/Vidrada, Chorniava/Shchedra nyva in 2019; Myronivska early/Antonivka, Zolotokolosa/Antonivka, Myronivska early/Kolchuga, Myronivska early/Vdala, Zolotokolosa/ Yednist, Shchedra nyva/Stolychna, Shchedra nyva/Vidrada, Antonivka/Yednist, Antonivka/Vidrada, Kolchuga/Vidrada, Kolchuga/Stolychna in 2020. Key words: bread winter wheat, crossbreeding combinations, hybrids, main stem length, degree of phenotypic dominance, hypothetical and true heterosis.

The subject of this research is the memoir heritage of Tatiana Lvovna Shchepkina-Kupernik. The novelty is defined by the absence of works dedicated specifically to the theatrical memoirs of Tatiana Lvovna Shchepkina-Kupernik. This article examines her memoiristics as part of the history of Russian theater, which allows the researchers to determine the author's contribution to the Russian theater studies. The goal of this consists in drawing attention of the audience and researchers to the memoiristics of Tatiana Lvovna Shchepkina-Kupernik, as well as in describing the role of her theatrical memoirs within the Russian literary studies and the history of Russian theater. Analysis is conducted on the key peculiarities of the memoir heritage of T. L. Shchepkina-Kupernik: stylistic uniqueness, attention to details of the theatrical culture, mastery of sculptural portraits. The author also reveals fascinating rare facts about the prominent figures of art and theatrical events of the late XIX – early XX centuries. The conclusion is made that the memoirs of T. L. Shchepkina-Kupernik represent a rich source on the history of Russian theatre. The details of theatrical culture, in-depth analysis of acting, portraits of the outstanding figures of Russian and foreign culture – all these facts makes her memoir heritage an invaluable material that contributes to the study of the Russian theatrical art.

At the core of this article and publication are archived documents, namely, letters of A. Smirnov to T. Shchepkina-Kupernik, their collection kept at the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art (RGALI). Collaboration between the Shakespeare scholar and the translator lasted for over 30 years (1916–1947). This epistolary legacy is rich in different philological subjects, including Smirnov’s and Shchepkina-Kupernik’s joint preparation of Shakespeare’s works to be printed for adult as well as younger audiences (for example, the collected works for children in four volumes, which features the first publication of Shchepkina-Kupernik’s translation of Romeo and Juliet, produced on Smirnov’s request). It is Shchepkina-Kupernik’s work on the tragedy that the author attempts to piece together in the article. The correspondence also prompts a broader question about the translatororiented editions of Shakespeare prepared for print by Smirnov in the late 1930s. The commentary supplied to the correspondence offers a reconstruction of A. Smirnov’s wide network of contacts in the cultural and publishing setting in the grim period of 1930s political repression.

The article deals with the peculiarities of the Mykhailo Shchepkin`s fi gure reception in linguistic consciousness of Taras Shevchenko. It has been demonstrated that the basis of the literary-and-artistic anthroponymicon of T. Shevchenko`s works, including the anthroponymicon of his “Diary”, are the names of his contemporaries, who played an important role in his life – M. Shchepkin, Y. Lazarevsky, P. Kulish, O. Bodiansky, M. Maximovich, etc. The semantic-and-evaluative paradigms of these proper names are represented through the prism of T. Shevchenko’s individual perception and outlook. They convincingly show his attitude to the mentioned persons in diff erent specifi c everyday, communicative situations. We have emphasized the dominance of positive appraisals of M. Shchepkin’s fi gure, which reveal the reception of him as a unique and sincere person (amazing old man, sincere Mikhail Semenovich, kindest creature), a talented actor (great man, great artist, brilliant actor, best comedian, unique comedian, irresistible Shchepkin, artist-veteran, patriarch-artist), a close friend (great friend, my only friend, my sincere, my unforgettable, nobler friend, kind friend, sincere friend). Topical for such contexts lexemes ‘uniqueness’, ‘ humaneness’, ‘honesty’, ‘talent’ and ‘sociability’ determine the positive evaluation of most contexts in which the name of Mykhailo Shchepkin is mentioned. They form the overall emotional meaning of the concept of the same name. Means of intimization of the image of M. Shchepkin – friend have been noted, in particular due to the combination of the anthroponym with the possessive pronoun mine.

The article is dedicated to the anniversary of Lev Shcherba, a famous linguist whose contribution to the development of Russian linguistics cannot be overemphasized. The year 2020 marks 140 years since his birth. This article attempts to demonstrate the applied aspects of the scholar’s work. While a lot of works have been written on various theoretical ideas suggested and/or elaborated by L. Shcherba, less attention has been paid to the specific character of his scientific creativity. Practical importance of L. Shcherba’s works for stylistics, phonetics, lexicography and grammar is underpinned. Special focus is made on the publication of a symposia series named “Russian Speech”. This series came about largely owing to L. Shcherba’s efforts. He became its perpetual editor. That was where he published a number of his crucial works. Also, Shcherba’s views on teaching foreign languages in the Soviet Union are analysed. It is noted that L. Shcherba strived to put forward effective recommendations taking into account all the obstacles in learning a foreign language that existed in the USSR. It is hard to overestimate Shcherba’s contribution to Russian linguistics as an organizer, a teacher, and a scientific advisor who managed to unify talented disciples that did their best to keep on elaborating the ideas of I. A. Baudouin de Courtenay whose most outstanding follower L. Shcherba was. His scientific and pedagogical heritage is inseparable from the traditions of Russian linguistics.

Tatyana Lvovna Shchepkina-Kupernik is known as the author of theatrical memoirs and brilliant plays’ translations, but her dramaturgy heritage still lacks the research attention. The article analyzes one of the most striking plays by T.L. Shchepkina-Kupernik “The Happy Woman”. In 1911 it received the Griboyedov award for the best original dramatic play of that theatrical season, though nowadays it is undeservedly forgotten. The article disputes the prevailing idea of the play “The Happy Woman” as a work of exclusively gender themes, focused on the “women’s issue”. The analysis of the play’s poetics (features of the drama conflict, the nature of the dialogues, scenography, the specifics of the author’s remarks, the symbolism of sound images) allows us to conclude that Shchepkina-Kupernik consistently implemented the traditions of Chekhov’s dramaturgy. Certain symbolic overtones are created by the motif of “the lost life”, embodied in the fate of the main character, the emphasized weakness of male characters (focus on a career, superficiality, inability to influence the situation, unavailability). It deepens the content of the dramatic conflict and leads to the tragic outcome, just like in Chekhov’s plays, “not individual people are to blame, but the whole existing composition of life as a whole”. There is a bitter irony in the very title of the play, exposing the self-deception of the representatives of the world and the inability of those in power to maintain their dominant position. It is concluded that in the play “The Happy Woman” Shchepkina-Kupernik managed to identify the most dramatic collisions of the era. Written between two revolutions, the play was a reflection of the situation in the country on the eve of the impending catastrophe.

Streszczenie:
Generations of Russians are familiar with Shakespeare’s play Measure for Measurethrough the poetically beautiful, light and aphoristic translation of T.L. Shchepkina-Kupernik (1939). The same year it was published in a small print run, and in 1960 in The Complete Works of Shakespeare by Iskusstvo Publ. whose circulation (225,000 copies) incomparably exceeded Academiaedition with the translation of the play by M.A. Zenkevich. And today the translation of T.L. Shchepkina-Kupernik is published much more often than others. Meanwhile, the outstanding Russian scholar A.A. Smirnov, coeditor and preparer of both Shakespeare’s Collected Works (or any editor after him), did not point to the deletion of the fragments of text and translation errors, although the Iskusstvoedition was prepared and published already during the Khrushchev’s ‘thaw’. Of the two main translation strategies - poetic liberty and philological accuracy - T.L. Shchepkina-Kupernik took the first path with Measure for Measure. The liberty of this translation is due to two factors: 1) a semantic and linguistic mistake, particularly important because it was made in the interpretation of the main thesis of the play (do not judge, doing the same yourself, forgive) and 2) self-censorship, obviously associated with the ‘requirements of the time’ and individual fears (withdrawal of dangerous tirades, smoothing and softening of meaning, avoiding specific words). The article shows what exactly the incompleteness, inaccuracies and errors of this translation consist of, and why they need commentary. In addition, a biographical hypothesis is formulated to explain the translator’s self-censorship.

Streszczenie:
This article analyzes the transformation of the plot about the death of the hero of the historical song “Shchelkan Dudentevich” into a modern toponymic legend about the river Shchelkan which exists in the Volgograd region. We may consider this a process of secondary folklorization, reflecting the influence of book knowledge on the creation of a new folklore story about the inglorious death of the Golden Horde’s Baskak Shchelkan in the river. The story of his murder by Tver citizens in 1327, reflected in an early version of the song, is first found in ancient Russian chronicles, and from there made its way into historical works and school and university textbooks. In modern folklore, it is radically transformed within the generic field of a toponymic legend. Book knowledge creates a semantic halo around the historical name, which stimulates the emergence of new plots connecting the mythology of the given landscape to significant events in national history. The role of the Mongol-Tatar heritage in the hydronymy of the Volgograd region offers possible reasons for attaching the personality of a historical person to the mythology of the local landscape. The legend of his drowning has become the subject of popular anecdotes in which Shchelkan’s image is mythologized: he becomes the spirit of the river, its “master”. School teachers and local historians are the main sources and popularizers of these notions; most of the author’s informants point to them. Archaeological excavations of Golden Horde burials on the Shchelkan River might also have had an indirect impact. Despite all of the plot differences between the historical song and the toponymic legend about the death of Shchelkan, they have a common artistic property — an ironic tone in the depiction of his death. Thus even in the context of a new genre and plot, modern folklore remains true to tradition, preserving some of the artistic principles of depicting a historical character.

The aim of the research was to study milk production of many factory families of Ukrainian Brown dairy breed and study the influence of origin on the indices of milk yield, duration and effectiveness of lifetime use of cows. Method. For research allocated 9 factory families of Ukrainian Brown dairy breed of State Enterprise «Experimental Farm of Institute of Agriculture of Northern East of NAAS» (Valuty 413, Voli 8369, Laymy 8221, Miry 7209, Ryabuhy 9728, Sujety 6091, Tochky 8169, Chubarochky 7743, Shchepky 4344). Among the indicators of the duration and effectiveness of lifetime use of cows was determined the duration (days) of life, economic use of and of lactation, number of lactations for life, lifetime milk yield and yield of milk fat (kg) average lifetime content (%) fat in milk, milk yield (kg) per day of life, economic use and lactation. The coefficient of economic use was calculated (expression in percent) by the proposed method by Pelehaty M. S. et al. In addition were determined (also in percentage) coefficient of lactation and the coefficient of productive use offered by Polupan Y. P. Milk productivity of the animals was evaluated according to the materials of the primary zoo-technical account. Statistical processing of results of studies was conducted by methods of mathematical statistics using the PC. The results of the research. By analyzing the productivity of cows managed to identify a significant level of specificity and differentiation of families according to the indications. Of the 90 cows accounted for the highest productivity of lactation, 28, or 31%, had hopes of 5.0 thousand kg and above. Most of these cows had family, Miry 7209 (67%), Ryabuhy 9728 (57%), Valuty 413 (55%), Shchepky 4344 (50%), less-Sujety 6091 (36%), Chubarochky 7743 (33%), Tochky 8169 (25%), Laymy 8221 (16%), Voli 8369 (10%). Over a long period of economic use and lactation of animals of Valuty 413 family resulted higher in comparison with other families a lifelong yield. The influence of the origin of cows on the indices of milk productivity and effectiveness for lifelong use was discovered. The origin of the family significantly influenced on milk yield for better lactation and milk yield per 1 day of life. Other indicators were not significant according to the origin, although they had high values (from 5.4 to 26.7%). So we can consider it expedient to work with families to improve the duration and effectiveness of lifetime use of cows. Conclusions. The highest average yield for the first lactation animals is characterized by animals of Ryabuhy 9728 family, the content of fat in milk – by animals of Voli 8369 family. Long average duration and a better efficiency is in the life of the cows of Valuty 413 family. The highest average milk yield in one day life had animals of Valuty 413 family. Animals of Valuty 413 family are allocated at the average value of the coefficient of economic use. Optimal average lactation animals belong to the Voli 8369 and Shchepky 4344 families. In some families identified animals that have a lifetime yield of more than 50.0 thousand kg of milk. The influence of the origin of cows on the indices of milk productivity and effectiveness of lifetime use was installed. Between separate parameters of milk production and indicators of the duration and effectiveness of lifetime use of a set of reliable correlation, the magnitude and direction of which are different in animals of different families.

The coronavirus pandemic has spread globally, upending the personal and professional lives of millions of people, including students, educators, and education researchers. At all levels of education, instructors, institution leaders, and policy makers are facing an unprecedented challenge, trying to ensure that high quality and equitable teaching and learning continues under rapidly changing and unpredictable conditions. During this time, distance-learning solutions were implemented to ensure education continuity, and much of the current debate focuses on how much students have learnt during school closures. However, while this potential learning loss may only be temporary, other elements that happen in the absence of traditional schooling, such as the curbing of educational aspirations or the disengagement from the school system, will have a long-term impact on students’ outcomes, thus distance- teaching has also faced rapid changes. For educators to turn traditional classes into video classes was also unexpected. But still the methodology that was used in offline classes also was the good aid in online classes but a little bit limited. For example excluding teachers physical presence, kinesthetic learning and etc.

From the earliest works, Chekhov acts as a polemicist with both contemporary literature and with the literature of the immediate past. This polemic is expressed not so much in the direct statements of the writer in letters or in conversations recorded by the memory of the memoirists, but in an artistic form, with the help of an imaginative system. However, there were people who polemicized with Chekhov. On the one hand, these were magazine critics, and on the other, fellow writers. One of these authors was T.L. Shchepkina-Kupernik, who wrote the story "Loneliness" at the age of twenty, which was published in the authoritative journal “Russian Thought” in 1894. The works of Chekhov, which caused the greatest resonance among the reading public: “The Jumping Girl”, “Boring Story”, “Ward No. 6”, became the material for the polemic of the young writer. Shchepkina-Kupernik actually agrees with the opinion of the readers who recognized the element of libel in the story "The Jumping girl", and the element of distortions of reality in others. The author of “Loneliness” creates an artistic picture of the world, which seems to her more realistic than Chekhov’s. However, the story of the young writer does not go beyond the bounds of stencil mass literature. All her claims against the author of “Ward No. 6” turn out to be untenable and demonstrate her lack of understanding of the innovative nature of Chekhov’s work. The complex nature of the dialogic character of his works, based on the art of parody stylization, was not perceived by the opponent, who opposed it with a one-dimensional and simplified image of reality.

Streszczenie:
The subject of this paper is Taras Shevchenko’s attitude towards the key personalities – Mykhailo Shchepkin, Nicholas I, and Yekaterina Piunova – as reflected in his diary (also called “The Journal”). The goal is to focus on the author’s characteristics of these people, those that illuminate his own personality too. Although there are a number of studies on the poet’s contacts with them, quite a few important details still remain unclear and unexplained. Another pertinent issue is dubious theses and interpretations, which have become widespread in academic discourse. Thus, the article proposes possible answers to a number of problematic issues in the studies of Shevchenko’s biography. It covers the formation of an almost entirely positive image of Shchepkin, the expressions of the author’s respect and affection to him, that were misunderstood by researchers. The paper also emphasizes Shevchenko’s authorship of the bright expression “neudobozabyvaemyi Tormoz” [hardly-forgettable brake/slowpoke], the one attached to the most negative character of the diary, Tsar Nicholas I. It explains the accuracy of the author’s notes about the monarch’s influence on the architectural development of the cities in the Russian Empire. Particular attention is paid to the prospects of research of those events and plots that, for various reasons, were virtually never mentioned in “The Journal.” I propose an explanation for the fact why Shevchenko did not provide lengthier feedback on his train ride, this new experience for him. The article also talks about the most controversial figure in the diary, namely Piunova. I suggest an alternative reading and etymology for one of the epithets addressed to her, that speaks in favor of the poet’s linguistic competencies and creativity. The emerging result of the research is the clarification of a few episodes of the poet’s biography and his relationship with the mentioned persons. The article demonstrates the productivity of a comprehensive examination of the text both at its macro- and micro-levels. This novel approach combining “distant” and “close” reading can be successfully used for investigation of other Shevchenko contacts and personalities mentioned in his diary.

A renowned historian, Evgeny Tarle (1874–1955) was famously preoccupied with literature. His ‘eternal companions’ included Pushkin, Lermontov, Nekrasov, Dostoevsky, Saltykov-Shchedrin, and L. Tolstoy. Another notable fact is his ambiguous attitude to contemporary Russian and Western literature. Tarle was a keen reader of Pascal, Schopenhauer, Vladimir Solovyov, and Rozanov, among others. His literary and particularly epistolary legacy features a few exceptionally perceptive and brilliant characteristics of writers and philosophers, many of which are published here for the first time. Tarle maintained a wide circle of literary acquaintances. He was a close friend of the authors Tatiana Bogdanovich, Tatiana Shchepkina-Kupernik, and Evgeny Lann – recipients of his most interesting letters. Tarle was also well acquainted with several literary scholars and critics, including S. Vengerov, P. Shchegolev, A. Gornfeld, K. Chukovsky, B. Eichenbaum, Y. Oksman, and others. Conveying shrewd observations on literature, Tarle’s comments on the subject also provide insights into the scholar’s own personality and work.

The geological structure of Neopleistocene deposits was specified along a 19-kilometer section of the right bank of the lower Pechora between the villages of Garevo and Sergeevo-Shchelya. The presence of three glacial and two interglacial horizons was revealed in coastal outcrops, and the material composition of the composing sediments was studied. The formation of the most ancient moraine horizon was associated with Fennoscandinavia and occurred in the early Quaternary Pomusov (Oka) time. The Pomusov moraine was overlain by Chirva (Likhvin) interglacial alluvial and lacustrine sediments. In the Middle Neopleistocene glacial complex, two morainic strata of different ages were distinguished: Pechora (Dnieper) and Vychegda (Moscovian), separated by a pack of predominantly coastal-marine littoral sediments, and alluvial and lacustrine sediments, the age of which was determined as Rodionov (Shklov) by the palynological method. Differences in the lithological composition of moraines confirmed a double glaciation of the European North-East of Russia in the Middle Neopleistocene.

The article considers the results of research on common beans varieties (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), their productivity and quality indicators in the Western Forest-Steppe. The results of biometric analysis show that bean plants differed in terms of variety. According to the height of the plant, the varieties were distributed as follows: low (< 51 cm) – Galaktyka, Perlyna, Shchedra, Mavka, Otrada, Nespodivanka, Pervomaiska, Yuvileyna 287, Stanychnaya, Nadiya, Bukovynka; medium (51–70 cm) – Kharkivska shtambova, Veselka, Dokuchaevska, Dniprianka. The height of attachment of the lower bean was the highest in the varieties Galaktyka and Stanychnaya – 16,6 cm, in Otrada variety – 16,3 cm, the lowest in the Dniprianka variety – 7,7 cm. At the same time, the height from the soil surface to the tip of the lower bean was the highest in the Perlyna variety – 6,9 cm, due to the length of the beans 7–8 cm. While in the variety Stanychnaya, due to the length of the beans 12–15 cm, this fgure was 4,9 cm. The lowest height from the soil surface to the tip of the lower bean was in the Panna variety – 1,8 cm and the Dniprianka variety – 2,3 cm, respectively. It was found that the largest number of internodes was in the variety Nespodivanka – 19,3 pieces, the lowest in the varieties Panna – 7,0 and Veselka – 8,8 pieces. The number of branches was the largest in the variety Slaviya – 4,4 pieces, the smallest in the variety Stanychnaya – 2,9 pieces, in the varieties Panna and Galaktyka – 3,1 pieces. The largest number of beans on the plant is set in the Nespodivanka variety – 26,8 pcs., the smallest in the variety Stanychnaya – 8,2 pcs. The studied varieties by weight of 1000 seeds are divided into groups: small (101–200 g) – Perlyna, Shchedra, Nespodivanka; medium (201–400 g) – Kharkivska shtambova, Mavka, Veselka, Otrada, Dokuchaevska, Yuvileyna 287, Pervomaiska, Dniprianka, Bukovynka, Nadiya; large (401– 800 g) – Galaktyka and Stanychnaya. The yield of beans depended on the characteristics and potential of the studied varieties. The highest yield of bean grain on average in 2012–2018 was obtained in the studied varieties: Perlyna – 2,61 t/ha, Kharkivska shtambova – 2,57 t/ ha, Nespodivanka – 2,33 t/ha, Mavka – 2,34 t/ha, Pervomaiska – 3,41 t/ha and Nadiya – 2,36 t/ha. Depending on the variety, the bean grain contains crude protein in the range of 18,75 % in the Pervomaiska variety to 23,38 % in the Slavia variety. The fber content is 3,7–5,5 %, ash – 3,29–3,94 %, BER – 55,5–59,9 %. Systemic and structural linguistics has no answer to the question of how one can make new words, as formulated by Prof. L. V. Shcherba. Its methodology strives to distance itself from the human factor and human activity. The present article introduces an analysis of two derivatological concepts. The first one was developed by G. S. Zenkov, a prominent representative of the structural direction in Kyrgyz linguistics. The second belonged to L. A. Araeva, the founder of the Kemerovo derivatological school with its anthropocentric orientation. The processes of knowledge processing are consolidated by means of morphemic, semantic, and syntactic derivation. The national and cultural component of lexical meaning of motivated words, created by morphemic and semantic derivation, develops in a particular cognitive and discursive situation. This situation becomes clear if approached from the standpoint of another language. A language appears, develops, and functions not by the standards of an abstract person, but by those of a particular language user as part of a particular national, cultural, natural, and economic environment that gave rise to a particular ethnos. Consequently, the processes of creating new words cannot be studied abstractly and formally, but only as a response to the requests and challenges of a particular ethnic community.

The Russian translation reception of Robert Burns's poem “Who is that at my bower-door?..” (1783) is for the first time considered in the article. It is emphasized that the comic work did not attract the attention of Russian translators until 1862, when the unsatisfactory interpretation of V. D. Kostomarov, deprived of the emotionality of the English original, came out. The results of the analysis of translations of the poem created by M. N. Shelgunov (1879), T. L. Shchepkina-Kupernik (publ. 1936), S. Ya. Marshak (1939), S. Sapozhnikov (publ. 2014), E. D. Feldman (2017), A. V. Krotkov (publ. 2018) are presented. The perception of Burns’ work in Russian literary criticism and literary criticism is comprehended. In particular, numerous reviews and studies are analyzed (A. T. Twardowski, K. I. Chukovsky, E. G. Etkind, T. B. Liokumovich, R. Ya. Wright-Kovaleva, A. Bobyleva), caused by S. Ya. Marshak translation, who, despite all his liberties, preserved the atmosphere of a lively conversation between two people, and emphasized their intonational, emotional and gender differences. It is noted that, having entered into a polemic with S. Ya. Marshak, who made Burns unnecessarily classic and stylistically “smooth”, modern translators created interpretations in the spirit of courteous poetry, largely devoid of the aesthetics of the original, its unique melody.

The article is devoted to the problem of reflecting the new tendencies of Russian artistic culture at the edge of the 19 and 20 centu ries in the late vocal cycle of Arensky Five romances op. 70 on verses by T. Shchepkina-Kupernik. In particular, the features of a poem with music manifestation in the poetics and stylistics of romances, which, as it is known, became one of the signs of the “new style” of this epoch are taken into consideration. We are talking about a change in the composer's attitude to the word, which determined principles of the interpretation of melody and other means of musical expression (harmony, texture, piano part, etc.). Comparison with earlier chamber-vocal compositions allows to draw a line of evolution of Arensky's style from the romantic, characteristic of Russian lyric romance, to the reflection of the stylistic patterns of the early 20 century musical art.

The article is devoted to the analysis of some widespread ideas about the theory and history of the St. Petersburg (Leningrad) phonological school, created by one of the founders of phonology Lev Shcherba. In accordance with these ideas, a certain “antimorphematism” and “physicalism” is attributed to the St. Petersburg school, allegedly distinguishing it from the Moscow, Prague and other phonological schools, which does not allow us to consider it in the full sense of the word phonological. The origin and formation of these myths are connected with the peculiarities of the development of Russian phonology in the 20th century and were determined by the competition between the Leningrad and Moscow schools, which became most acute during the phonological discussions in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The main role in the establishment of this mythology belongs to representatives of the Moscow school, Alexander Reformatsky and Mikhail Panov. Based on the analysis of the works of representatives of different schools, the article shows the inconsistency of this mythology and attempts to explain why, despite repeated criticism, such unsubstantiated claims about the St. Petersburg school still remain and continue to be replicated both in textbooks and scientific papers on phonology and the history of linguistics, including recent works. In addition, based on the analysis of the theory and research practice of phonological schools, it is shown that the accusations of “physicalism” and “antimorphematism”, usually addressed to the St. Petersburg school, can be addressed to the Moscow and Prague phonological schools with greater justification.

The article is devoted to a survey analysis of the first dictionaries in the Yakut language published before 1935. The author raises the question of developing new dictionaries of various types. The purpose of this study is to describe the first dictionaries that were published by the Yakut intelligentsia in the era of the elimination of illiteracy among people. The principles of development and uniqueness of dictionary entries are revealed. The main methodological guideline of this research is the works of the leading Russian scientists in the field of lexicography, among which are L.P. Stupin, L.V. Shcherba. The scope of the results application: a) can be used when developing the translation, terminological, and spelling dictionaries; b) conclusions and materials contained in the study can serve as an additional source in the study of the lexicography of the Yakut language. As a result of the study, we come to the conclusion that the Yakut lexicography dates back to 1849 and is associated with the names of such prominent scientists as O. N. Betlingk and E. K. Pekarsky. Their dictionaries were written in German and represented as additional material to the study of the language of the Yakut people as a kind of national language. After the October Revolution, the Yakut intelligentsia, represented by I.P. Budishchev, S.N. Donskoy-I, V.P. Antonov-Saratovsky, P.A.Oyunsky. All of them were interested in the education of the native people. These dictionaries were compiled in the first Novgorodian alphabet and were a reference material for communicating with the Russian-speaking audience.

The present article is aimed at describing linguistic and cortical mechanisms of language and speech interference with a focus on rhythmic elements of sound speech. The role of cortical mechanisms in sound speech communication is only commencing to be understood by different scientists. In turn, verbal communication itself can be described as a dy-namic quasi-regular and regular transformation of linguistic and extra-linguistic units. Some linguistic (rhythmic) inter-ference phenomena, dealing with “negative language material” (L. V. Shcherba), play an extremely significant role both in linguistics and in some related fields of scientific knowledge. Rhythm (verbal and non-verbal) can be defined, on the one hand, as a form of moving and structuring matter, on the other hand, as an omnipresent peculiarity of living and non-living matter along with time and space. It is noted that verbal rhythm, being part of universal rhythm, is formed by means of all linguistic strata and all their units and features (graphic, phonetic, morphological, syntactic, etc.). It is also emphasised that any rhythmic system exists in the linguistic hierarchically structured pattern, that is to say, it can-not be referred only to prosodic, lexical, or semantic structures. The main features of rhythmic patterning of native and non-native English speech are analysed. It seems to indicate more deeply some of the issues related to phonetic scienc-es in general and verbal and non-verbal rhythmology in particular in keeping with the framework of neurophonetic theory and multi-paradigmatic approach to any linguistic code.

The article touches upon the most vital aspects in the discussion of the 1930s on the philologically accurate translation. The author analyses A. Smirnov’s and M. Morosov’s critical remarks to A. Radlova’s translation of “Romeo and Juliet” and reconstructs how Radlova translated this Shakespeare tragedy. The article sets forth the idea that the discussion on Radlova’s translation of “Romeo and Juliet” anticipates Radlova and Chukovsky’s debates. In relation to this the author explains why for the Collected Works of Shakespeare (1958–1960) A. Smirnov chose Shchepkina-Kupernik’s translation of “Romeo and Juliet” but not Anna Radlova’s one. Carried out for the first time, the comparative analyses of these texts allows to see in detail the difference in their interpretation of key terms in the theory of translation of that epoque. The author of the article evaluates Radlova’s interpretation of “Romeo and Juliet” on the basis of A. Smirnov’s claim that in the translation of “Othello” and “Romeo and Juliet” Radlova follows the same translation method. To disprove Smirnov’s idea, we take into consideration such requests of K. Сhukovsky as the oversimplification of syntax, that deforms Shakespeare’s intonation, the omission of important words (as well as the effacement of some small one-syllable words) for the sake of measure and line to line correspondence in translation, and the roughening of the original text. The articles proves that the only method used by Radlova systematically is the last one. Other defects were most probably smoothed out due to A. Smirnov’s corrections.

The contribution of B. A. Larin to the formation of a new lexicographic tradition in Russian science associated with the study of bilingual lexicons of the epoch of Moscovite Rus’ is analyzed. The events from the history of Soviet philology of the 1930s–1940s are commented on. The name of B. A. Larin is introduced into the context of contradictory phenomena in the public life of the country and the struggle against “cosmopolitans”. Attention is drawn to the originality of the scientist’s approach to the formulation and solution of the problem of understanding and introducing into research practice unique textual monuments compiled by foreigners. B. A. Larin’s painstaking work on deciphering and linguistic commenting of dictionary texts is noted. It is emphasized that for the first time in the philological tradition, Russian-foreign phrasebooks and dictionaries have become the object of attention of scientists as a linguistic and cultural phenomenon, which made it possible to give objective information about the features of everyday speech of different social strata of the population of Moscovite Rus’ in the 16th and 17th centuries. It is said about the prospects of this direction and subsequent developments in the study of dictionary bilingualism in domestic and foreign science. The role of the Larin school in the continuation of the historical and linguistic traditions of I. I. Sreznevsky, A. A. Shakhmatov, L. V. Shcherba is highlighted. The papers concludes on the originality of B. A. Larin’s ideas and their scientific value in modern lexicographic theory and practice.

Thе article is dedicated to description of two late sixteenth-century manuscripts containing the Russian Chronograph in the 1512 recension. Held today in two separate Moscow manuscript collections, they were identifi ed as parts of a single whole in the work of M. V. Shchepkina and T. N. Protasieva, yet they have not previously been comprehensively de-scribed. The article off ers a detailed analysis of the watermarks, hands, orthography, and language (in particular regarding accentuation) of this bifurcated chronograph. The fi rst manuscript is kept as no. 202 in the collection of E. E. Yegorov in the Russian State Library. The second is no. 1695 in the collection of E. V. Barsov in the State Historical Museum. The Yegorov manuscript was written on the same type of paper by three distinct scribes, whereas the Barsov manuscript was written on seven diff erent types of paper yet in a single hand that may be identifi ed as that of one of the scribes of the Yegorov manuscript. Furthermore, it has been possible to identify one of the watermarks in the Barsov manuscript precisely: it is watermark no. 1700 in the E. Laucevič ius’ catalogue — the Polish Topór coat of arms beneath a crescent moon on a cartouche, which is represented in Lithuanian manuscripts of 1593 and 1594. The pages of the Yegorov manuscript are two-thirds given to illumina-tion, whereas the Barsov manuscript provides space only for miniatures and initials. It has been proposed by A. A. Turilov that this bifurcated chronograph was intended for Тsar Fedor Ioannovich, but was not com-pleted due to his death in 1598.

Scientists are paying more and more attention to such expressive-syntactic constructions as joining and parcelling. The analysis of scientific works shows that the linguistic status of connecting structures is interpreted ambiguously. To distinguish between affiliation and parcelling, researchers usually propose two criteria: structural-semantic and formal. According to the first criterion, connecting structures are included in the main offer, and parceled structures are outside of it. According to the second criterion, a connection is considered to be such a structure that has special connection markers in the form of unions, union words, etc. Both criteria, in our opinion, do not allow us to unambiguously distinguish between connecting and parcelled structures. During the formation and development of the theory of connection and connecting structure, the works of academicians L.V. Shcherba, V.V. Vinogradov. In particular, the article by Professor E.S. Kryuchkova On connecting ties in the modern Russian language, which for many years has shaped the views on accession and influenced the opinions of more than one generation of linguists. However, the emergence of the theory of parcelling could not but affect the theory of the connecting structure: several types of connection were distinguished, the structure began to be considered against the background of parcelling, difficulties arose in distinguishing between connecting and parcelled structures. This article analyzes special works devoted to the connecting structure, more precisely, those studies, the authors of which ignore parcelling. However, there are other views of scientists on the connecting structure, one of the types of which we conditionally attributed to the second type of connection. This variety will be the subject of our further research.

Streszczenie:
The studies conducted in the contrastive by their hydrothermal conditions 2019–2020 examined F 2 hybrid populations created by crossing different early ripening varieties of soft winter wheat. Most of F 2 populations used in various crossbreeding schemes of early ripening, middle-early, medium-ripening, and middle-late varieties for both average number of grains in the ear and its maximum manifestation, signifcantly exceeded the original forms and characterized by signifcant formation. The obtained results indicate a signifcant influence of the selected pairs for hybridization and hydrothermal conditions of the year on the formation of the number of grains in F2 populations of soft winter wheat. However, hybrid populations with early ripening varieties as the maternal form are less susceptible to adverse hydrothermal conditions. The research results give ground for defning hybrid populations, which had less than the average number of grains in the ear for F 2 in the most contrastive hydrothermal conditions and were characterized by high rates and frequency of positive transgressions, namely: Myronivska early / B.Ts. semidwarf; Myronivska early / Zolotokosa.; Myronivska early / Chorniava; Kolchuga / Stolychna; Myronivska early / Vdala; Shchedra nyva / Vidrada; Antonivka / Stolychna. The identifed correlations between the degree of phenotypic dominance in F1 and the degree and frequency of positive transgressions indicate an insignifcantly weak direct to inverse relationship between these indicators. At a reliable level, in the years of research, a strong (r = 0.774…0.893) correlation was found with the degree of positive transgressions and the frequency of recombinants. Key words: degree and frequency of transgression, soft winter wheat, maturity groups, parental forms, variability, number of grains of the main ear, population F2, degree of phenotypic dominance.
