ABSTRACT The morphology of bipolar planetary nebulae (PNe) can be attributed to interactions between a fast wind from the central engine and the dense toroidal-shaped ejecta left over from common envelope (CE) evolution. Here we use the 3D hydrodynamic adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) code AstroBEAR to study the possibility that bipolar PN outflows can emerge collimated even from an uncollimated spherical wind in the aftermath of a CE event. The output of a single CE simulation via the smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) code phantom serves as the initial conditions. Four cases of winds, all with high enough momenta to account for observed high momenta pre-PN outflows, are injected spherically from the region of the CE binary remnant into the ejecta. We compare cases with two different momenta and cases with no radiative cooling versus application of optically thin emission via a cooling curve to the outflow. Our simulations show that in all cases highly collimated bipolar outflows result from deflection of the spherical wind via the interaction with the CE ejecta. Significant asymmetries between the top and bottom lobes are seen in all cases. The asymmetry is strongest for the lower momentum case with radiative cooling. While real post-CE winds may be aspherical, our models show that collimation via ‘inertial confinement’ will be strong enough to create jet-like outflows even beginning with maximally uncollimated drivers. Our simulations reveal detailed shock structures in the shock-focused inertial confinement (SFIC) model and develop a lens-shaped inner shock that is a new feature of SFIC-driven bipolar lobes.

The Chinese film and television industry is witnessing the changing relationships of its governance between government and other stakeholders. Understanding the stakeholders and their interactions is critical to an improvement in the performance of collaborative governance regimes. This paper proposes an institutional framework which emphasizes the important role of industry associations as an aid to the government in terms of improving media governance performance. Based on the SFIC collaborative model, we develop a model for a better media governance in the Chinese film and television industry with a design of the five dimensions: starting conditions, catalytic leadership, system design, synergistic process and synergistic effect. By analyzing the governance patterns in the Chinese film and television industry, this paper provides valuable insights into the regulations on Chinese media industries.

Abstract The pressurizer water level control system in nuclear power plant with pressurized water reactor (PWR) is responsible for coolant mass balance. The main control goal is to stabilize the water level at a reference value and to suppress the effect of time-varying disturbances (e.g. coolant leakage in primary circuit pipeline system). In the process of PWR power plant operation incorrect water level may disturb pressure control or may cause damage to electric heaters which could threaten plant security and stability. In modern reactors standard PID controllers are used to control water level in a pressurizer. This paper describes the performance of state feedback integral controller (SFIC) with reduced-order Luenberger state observer designed for water level control in a pressurizer and compares it to the standard PID controller. All steps from modeling of a pressurizer through control design to implementation and simulation testing in Matlab/Simulink environment are detailed in the paper.

Cette thèse propose une méthodologie permettant d’analyser les mécanismes d’innovation au sein du secteur des services ainsi que leurs implications en matière de développement territorial. Cette méthodologie se présente en trois temps. Dans un premier temps, une analyse des processus d’innovation au sein du secteur des services est élaborée afin de mieux comprendre le fonctionnement des modes d’innovation et les logiques de localisation au sein de ce secteur. Dans un second temps, une étude économétrique comparative des déterminants de l’innovation dans les services et l’industrie est réalisée à partir d’une enquête communautaire sur l’innovation (CIS2008). Cette étude permet de mieux appréhender, d’une part, les facteurs à l’origine de l’innovation dans le secteur des services et, d’autre part, les principales divergences en matière d’innovation entre les services et l’industrie. Dans un troisième temps, une étude descriptive et économétrique des déterminants de l’innovation dans les services est effectuée à l’échelle de 31 agglomérations françaises. Cette étude permet de confronter sur données localisées l’impact des déterminants de l’innovation selon les types d’innovations développées (technologique et non technologique).Au final, ce travail, initialement entrepris sur la base d’une analyse globale des activités de services, s’est progressivement centré sur les Services à Forte Intensité de Connaissances (informatiques, R&D, architecture, publicité, etc.) au vue de leur poids économique (en termes d’emploi et de valeur ajoutée) et de leur pertinence en matière d’innovation
This thesis proposes a methodology to analyze the mechanisms of innovation in the service sector and their implications for regional development. This methodology is presented in three stages. As a first step, an analysis of the innovation process in the service sector is performed to better understand the functioning of innovation patterns and location choices within the sector. In a second step, a comparative econometric study of the determinants of innovation in services and industry conducted on the basis of Community Innovation Survey (CIS2008) data. This study provides insight on the one hand, the factors driving innovation in the service sector and, secondly, the main differences in innovation between services and industry. In a third step, a descriptive and econometric analysis of the determinants of innovation in services is performed for 31 French cities. This study allows to compare the impact of the determinants of different types of innovation (technological and non-technological) on the basis of local data.Finally, this work was originally undertaken on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of service activities, gradually focusing on Knowledge Intensive Service (IT, R & D, advertising, etc.) In view of their economic impact (in terms of employment and value added) and their relevance for innovation

Sfi1 est une protéine récemment découverte qui est impliquée dans le processus de division cellulaire. Concrètement, son rôle est intimement lié à la duplication des MTOCs (centres organisateurs de microtubules) chez les organismes eucaryotes, un rôle partagé avec la centrine. Les centrines sont des calciprotéines de la superfamille EF-hand très conservées chez les eucaryotes et impliquées dans des fonctions cellulaires diverses, comme la duplication des MTOCs, la réparation de l'ADN et l'exportation nucléaire de l'ARNm. La découverte de l'interaction entre la centrine et Sfi1 nous a conduit à nous intéresser à l'étude structurale et biochimique du complexe Sfi1-centrine. Sfi1 possède plusieurs motifs de liaison aux centrines (chacun d'entre eux pouvant lier une molécule de centrine) tout le long de sa structure. Ces séquences répétées présentent des résidus conservés qui correspondent au motif classique 1-4-8 de liaison aux centrines. Ce travail est centré sur la compréhension de la liaison des molécules de centrine de manière individuelle et collective à la protéine Sfi1. Pour cela, des études structurales par RMN de l'extrémité C-terminale de la centrine 2 humaine (HsCen2) en complexe avec un peptide de 20 résidus, correspondant à la séquence répétée n°17 de Sfi1 humaine (hSfi1), ont été réalisées. Celles-ci ont permis de comprendre les bases structurales de la liaison Sfi1-centrine. En outre, des études biochimiques ont été réalisées concernant le domaine de Sfi1 de levure (ScSfi1) contenant 6 séquences répétées avec la centrine de levure (Cdc31). Ce complexe, ainsi que divers variants de Sfi1 nous ont permis d'explorer les caractéristiques de l'interaction de la centrine avec un enchainement de séquences répétées de Sfi1
Sfi1 is a recently discovered protein that is involved in cell division, with its specific role in the MTOC duplication in eukaryotes, a function also shared by centrins. Centrins are well conserved calciproteins in eukaryotes belonging to the EF-hand superfamily and they are involved in diverse cellular functions, like MTOC duplication, DNA repair and nuclear mRNA transport. The discovery of the interaction between centrins and Sfi1 led us to be interested in the structural and biochemical study of the complex Sfi1-centrin. Sfi1 has several centrin-linking motifs along its structure (each one able to link one centrin molecule). These repeated sequences have well conserved residues corresponding to the classical 1-4-8 centrin-link motif. This work is focussed on the understanding of individual and collective centrin linking to Sfi1. In order to achieve this, we have made NMR structural experiments with the C-terminus of HsCen2 complexed with a 20-residue peptide corresponding to repeat n°17 of hSfi1. These experiments have allowed us to understand the structural basis of the Sfi1-centrin binding. In parallel, biochemical studies have been made with a yeast Sfi1 (ScSfi1) domain that contains 6 repeats in a complex with yeast centrin (Cdc31). This complex, and some Sfi1 mutants made of it, have allowed us to explore the interaction characteristics of the centrin with several Sfi1 repeats

Our governing documents give teachers guidelines as to how to carry out their task in the classroom. To guide a learner requires knowledge, not only about the policy of our governing documents but also skills to see the connection between the teacher's task and its practical implementation. By studying learners' experiences of teaching contexts, I have been able to evaluate how the teaching methods live up to the intentions of the national governing documents in Sweden. My study is based partly on a survey that I completed and partly on the theory of Dialogicity. Here I saw clear connections between my informants' experiences of verbal exercises in the teaching and the theoretical background I have chosen for my study, Dialogicity. I have presented and analyzed the verbal exercises in four differentiated contexts. My results show how the concepts surrounding Dialogicity can be interpreted and put into practice in our educational work. The findings of my study argue for a pedagogy based on a holistic approach to learning. The results of this study suggest a need for a deeper consideration of the relationship between our theories, our steering documents and our actual work in the classroom.

Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att ta reda på och beskriva på vilket sätt och hur medvetet undervisande lärare arbetar med interaktionen lärare/– elev och interaktionen elever emellan vid val av klassrumsaktiviteter, samt hur dessa val ter sig i praktiken. Metoden som används är en kvalitativ intervju med fyra Sfi-lärare som arbetar med olika kurser på en och samma skola samt klassrumsobservationer av lärarnas undervisning i deras egna grupper. Resultatet av studien visar att lärarna har en intention att arbeta utifrån interaktionens roll i andraspråkinlärningen och andraspråkundervisningen och använder sig av arbetssätt som främjar interaktionen mellan lärare och elever men även elever emellan. Flera av de aktiviteter som lärarna använder i sin undervisning, särskilt de som utförs i smågrupper, bidrar till en kreativ språkanvändning och en naturlig kommunikation trots att de sker i en institutionell samtalsmiljö. Slutsatsen som dras är att interaktionen inte syns i de flesta lärarnas lektionsplanering. Interaktionen visar sig dock tydligt under klassrumsarbetet. Lärarnas sätt att interagera med eleverna utifrån frågornas slag, IRF-sekvenser och lärarnas språkanpassning varierar beroende på deltagarnas nivå. Även lärarnas val av klassrumsaktiviteter förändras. Det förekommer fler aktiviteter mellan deltagare i grupper som är på mer avancerad nivå än i grupper på en lägre nivå.

The use of fibre reinforced concrete (FRC) as a construction material has expanded beyond the traditional applications since the publication of design codes and guidelines. In fact, the industry is demanding FRC with increasing structural responsibilities and, in some cases, with the fibres as the only reinforcement. Despite the remarkable advances in the fibre reinforcement technology and the publication of design guidelines, questions continue to arise regarding the performance, the characterization and the modelling of the material. The definition of the constitutive model of FRC and the development of methods for the characterization have been extensively studied. However, their adequacy for certain applications still remains an issue. Moreover, properties such as the fibre orientation and the creep behaviour are not minor concerns and need to be properly considered. These subjects require further research in order to work towards an accurate and efficient design procedure. In this context, the great interest of the industry to understand better FRC behaviour has created the opportunity of performing small-scale and real-scale tests that are a valuable source of information. Therefore, a rather generalist doctoral thesis covering several subjects about the characterization and modelling of steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) elements is proposed. The subjects addressed in this research refer to the flexural behaviour and modelling of RC-SFRC beams (beams with combined reinforcement of steel fibres and rebars); the flexural behaviour, fibre orientation and modelling of SFRC slabs with changing dimensions; the prediction of the tensile behaviour of SFRC and the post-cracking creep behaviour of SFRC. The first subject concerns the adequacy of the constitutive models proposed in the current European codes and guidelines to model the flexural response of RC-SFRC beams. For that, real-scale elements with different steel fibres and fibre contents were tested. The results of the numerical modelling show that, in general, these constitutive models reproduce satisfactorily the experimental data. In the second subject, based on the flexural behaviour of real-scale SFRC slabs, geometry factors are proposed to compensate for the inaccuracies of the current constitutive models to reproduce the response of such elements. The study conducted on the modelling of the flexural behaviour of the slabs allowed identifying a favourable effect of the fibre orientation (fibre network effect) as the width of the slabs increased. The third subject covers a proposal of an analytical formulation to estimate the tensile stress-strain diagram of FRC from the results of the Barcelona test. The validation performed indicates the applicability of the new model to concrete with either steel fibres or plastic fibres. The last subject focuses on the post-cracking creep behaviour of SFRC, which is assessed by performing flexural tests under sustained load on pre-cracked small-scale beams. Based on the results, a simple model to predict the evolution of the creep coefficient with time is proposed.

The Data Transport Subsystem (DTS) is a core subsystem of SFOC which holds together the GIFs, TISes, DMDs, DTVs and other SFOC application subsystems allowing them to operate in a distributed LAN based workstation environment. DTS does this by providing two primary features. The first feature is transparent local and remote interprocess communication. The communications interface is identical between two application subsystem processes whether they're running in the same machine or different machines. The second feature is the Logical Name Server, which makes connections on a name basis without regard to location or network topology. With these two features SFOC becomes a distributed system. Processes within a subsystem can even be distributed to perform load leveling and enhance system performance. Distribution fosters the use of redundancy and hot backups by allowing nodes to serve multiple purposes. Distribution allows isolation of mission telemetry while providing shared use of a common database. It supports the SFOC goal of off-the-shelf hardware expansion and upgrade. DTS provides an open-close-send-receive model of interprocess communication. It offers three types of service: virtual circuit, datagram and broadcast. The virtual circuit service supplies a full duplex path between communication endpoints and guarantees data integrity. The datagram service allows many communications endpoints to send to one endpoint. This is useful for sending status to a central process. The broadcast service allows a process to send to many receiver endpoints. This can be used for continuous monitoring of telemetry streams by multiple processes.

Abstract Title: SFI- individualized? A qualitative study on students who combine SFI with work.   A report published by the Government regarding the individualization of the education of Swedish For Immigrants (SFI) has shown that the individualization of SFI studies is essential for students who combine their studies with work. The report also arises a problem, namely that there are largely SFI students working in parallel with their studies that choose to cancel their SFI studies. This became the starting point for our study. What is requested in the SOU report is individual adaptation to a greater extent, especially when the working SFI students are able to complete the education. With our study we aim to understand how these working students experience individualization and the ability to combine work and study effectively, the starting point being that individualization is necessary for students. To gather empirical material for our study we have done a qualitative research including 14 interviews with SFI students who combine their studies with work. After gathering our empirical material from our interviews, we then presented the results and analyzed them with the help of our theories. The theories used in this study are Herbert Blumer's “symbolic interactionism” and Magnus Persson’s “educational resources”.   Based on the study results it appears from several students that most SFI students feel that individualization is needed, but that it is currently inadequate and perceived as problematic by the students. The lack of individualization is made visible in everyday teaching, where the experiences and the consequences of it mean the following; Through the study we have found that in the SFI classes there are major differences among students' knowledge in the Swedish language and their conditions for learning. Nevertheless, these students are put in the same class and have the same school information to solve, which indicates that an individualization of the studies is missing. We have also come to understand that SFI students family situation has a major influence on how they choose to conduct their SFI studies. However, what influences students more in how they feel that the studies are individualized to their needs, are the SFI students earlier educational resources which becomes an important part in this study.

This study aims at using discourse analysis to analyze SFI students attitudes to religion and religiosity in an SFI-context. The questions are: How is the discourse constructed and maintained by religion and religiosity of SFI students in an SFI context? How do SFI participants experience that their religion has affected their time at SFI?

Using a case study approach, interviews were conducted with a group of SFI students. The results show that the religious discourse in SFI is influenced by the SFI-context and affected based on the current education discourse that exists there. Furthermore, the discourse is designed and maintained by the participants private religious beliefs and the religion of the majority of the group, One canhere speak of a strong social unit forming a plausibility structure The power structure that emerges is that the majority has the power to define the significance of religion and place within the SFI context. 

In the SFI-context the participants view is that religion is something private that should not be expressed in the school environment. They express that they do not want to talk about religion among a collection of people from other cultures since one would not want to risk creating conflict.

AbstractService Function Chaining (SFC) in a cloud-native environment is becoming essential as more users move towards clouds today. Cloud-native environments utilize container-based microservices to provide software solutions. Integrating SFC with container-based microservices introduces new challenges. This paper exploited Network Service Mesh (NSM) framework features to create a service function chain on a multi-node Kubernetes cluster. We focus on the design and implementation of SFC in Kubernetes using NSM. Also, we deployed our custom-built containers in the Kubernetes cluster to create a service function chain. Hence, we demonstrate how an SFC is designed in a cloud-native environment rather than a traditional NFV/SDN approach. Furthermore, to evaluate the performance, we compare different frameworks that support SFC in Kubernetes, highlighting the advantage and disadvantages of each framework.

Abstract In this paper we describe P4-SFC to support service function chaining (SFC) based on a single P4-capable switch and off-the-shelf components. It utilizes MPLS-based segment routing for traffic forwarding in the network and SR-IOV for efficient packet handling on hosts. We describe the P4-SFC architecture and demonstrate its feasibility by a prototype using the Tofino Edgecore Wedge 100BF-32X as P4 switch. Performance test show that L2 throughput for VNFs on a host is significantly larger when connected via SR-IOV with the host’s network interface card instead of over a software switch.

AbstractDisasters caused by landslides have continued to occur in recent years resulting in loss of lives and livelihoods around the world. To prevent such disasters and reduce landslide risk, it is crucial to share good practices from around the world and promote all-of-society engagement. The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform continues to take stock and monitor non-state actors’ contributions to the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030. The platform not only keeps track of their contributions to the Sendai Framework’s global targets, but it also details the hazards each commitment is aiming to address, including landslides. As of 31 March 2023, a total of 116 voluntary commitments have been published on the SFVC online platform. This article provides a statistical analysis of these voluntary commitments, looking into their deliverables, budgets, participating organizations, Sendai Framework targets and Sustainable Development Goals covered, among other variables. The quantitative analysis involves descriptive statistics that provide insights on commitments that are addressing landslides in their disaster risk reduction activities. Additionally, the article presents case studies from the voluntary commitments that demonstrate noteworthy efforts by stakeholders in reducing risks from landslides. As of 31 March 2023, 64 percent of the voluntary commitments published by stakeholders are implementing activities to build resilience against landslides. Initial findings indicate that among the 17 hazards documented on the SFVC online platform, landslides rank as the third most frequently addressed hazard. Although most voluntary commitments address landslides, it would be beneficial to encourage more action and improve current activities specific to landslide risk reduction especially for countries more vulnerable to landslides. The SFVC online platform endeavors to mobilize more stakeholders to address landslides, striving for a world where landslide risks no longer threaten communities.

Abstract Clinical treatment of Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is generally ineffective in increasing patient survival. Convection-enhanced delivery (CED) is an alternative, investigative therapy in which a small caliber catheter is placed directly into the brain parenchyma. However, standard CED drug delivery techniques are unable to reach the entirety of the brain tumor, attributing to the failure of Phase III clinical trials. Fiber optic microneedle devices (FMDs), capable of simultaneous fluid and laser energy delivery, have shown potential to increase the drug dispersal volume when compared to fluid only devices. Previously described FMDs have had low laser transmission efficiency. In this work, we present two FMD manufacturing methods, a solid fiber inside capillary (SFIC) FMD and a modified fusion spliced (FS) FMD. Transmission efficiency of the two proposed FMDs were measured using a 1064 nm laser and an integrating sphere detector with air, deionized water, and black ink inside of the bore of the FMDs. The transmission efficiency of the FS FMD was between 45 and 127% larger than that of previously reported FS FMDs. Additionally, the transmission efficiency of the SFIC was significantly higher than the FS FMD (p ≤ 0.04 for all groups). However, the SFIC FMDs suffered catastrophic fracture failure at bend radii smaller than the manufacture specification, likely due to scribing of the capillary during the FMD fabrication process. Modifying FS FMDs appears to be the preferred fabrication method providing improved light transmission efficiency and mechanical strength on par with the capillary manufacturer’s specifications.

Este trabalho tem como objetivo avaliar a hidratação na idade inicial de cimentos YCC produzidos a partir do coprocessamento do SFCC. Para isso, foram produzidos seis clínqueres com diferentes teores de ye’elimita, com e sem SFCC. Estes foram caracterizados por DRX/Rietveld. As pastas foram avaliadas por TG/DTG e DRX/Rietveld para compreender o mecanismo de hidratação no terceiro dia destes cimentos. Foi possível sintetizar as principais fases dos YCC, nos clínqueres com e sem SFCC. Além disso, na idade avaliada, as pastas com e sem SFCC apresentaram composição de fases comparáveis indicando o potencial de coprocessamento deste resíduo.

Abstract According to spray cooling characteristics for failure of the cooling system in the spent fuel pool, we establish a model for analyzing spray cooling of a single spent fuel rod and develop a code named SFSC which is used to calculate the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of film on the spent fuel rod under the condition of spray cooling. The results obtained from SFSC consist of film thickness, film temperature, film evaporation, fuel pellet temperature of spent fuel rod and cladding temperature of spent fuel rod at different height of spent fuel rod are shown in this paper. At the same time, we establish same model by RELAP and compare results calculated by RELAP with that calculated by SFSC. The good agreement of two results demonstrates that SFSC is effective. SFSC fills in the blanks of thermal-hydraulic calculation for the spent fuel rod under the condition of spray cooling.

In low- and middle-income countries (LIMCs) measuring early childhood development (ECD) with standard tests in large scale surveys (i.e. evaluations of interventions) is difficult and expensive. Multi-dimensional screeners and single-domain tests ('short tests') are frequentlyused as alternatives. However, their validity in these circumstances is unknown. We examine the feasibility, reliability, and concurrent validity of three multi-dimensional screeners -the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ-3), the Denver Developmental Screening Test (Denver-II), the Battelle Developmental Inventory screener (BDI-2) -and two single-domain tests- the MacArthur-Bates Short-Forms (SFI and SFII) and the WHO Motor Milestones (WHO-Motor)-in 1,311 children 6-42 months in Bogota, Colombia. We compare scores on these short tests to those on the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development (Bayley-III), which we take as the 'gold standard'. The Bayley-III was given at a center by psychologists; whereas the short tests were administered in the home by interviewers, as in a survey setting. Concurrent validity of the multi-dimensional tests' cognitive, language, and fine motor scales with the corresponding Bayley-III scale is low below 19 months but increases with age, becoming moderate-to-high over 30 months. In contrast, gross motor scales' concurrence is high under 19 months and then decreases. Of the single-domain tests, the WHO-Motor has high validity with gross motor under 16 months, and the SFI and SFII expressive scales show moderate correlations with language under 30 months. Overall, the Denver-II seems the most feasible and valid multi-dimensional test and the ASQ-3 performs poorly under 31 months. By domain, gross motor development has the highest concurrence below 19 months, and language above. Results do not vary by household socio-economic status. Predictive validity investigation is nonetheless needed to further guide the choice of instruments for large scale studies.

Shenfu injection (SFI) can effectively improve end-organ hypoperfusion and hypoxia; thus, its role in alternative therapy for CS has received widespread attention. However, a systematic review or meta-analysis has not been conducted on the treatment of CS with SFI. Therefore, we designed a protocol for the systematic review and meta-analysis of the efficacy and safety of SFI in the treatment of CS.
