Objective: The number of senior citizen in Indonesia, wheter the ones who live with their family or in a nursing home, is increasing. The changes they face in their elderly life lead to depression. Depression is a common mental health problems found in the elderly. This study aims to analyze the differences of correlation factors of depression among the senior citizens who live with their family and those who live in Sabai Nan Aluih Nursing Home, Sicincin.The design of the study is descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. The subject of the study were 74 senior citizens who live with their family and also 74 senior citizen who live in nursing home. The sample was taken by using total sampling technique. The statistical test showed that there was a correlation of depression factors between the depression on the senior citizens who live with their family and those who live in a nursing home. There also were differences of depression factors between depression on senior citizens who live with their family and those who live in a nursing home.Based on the study, Sabai Nan Aluih Nursing Home is suggested to improve its service quality on elderly care. For families with senior citizens, it is suggested to give more attention and care to the elderly with depression and to prevent depression for the elderly with no depression.

This review paper looked at some of the most relevant material on senior citizens' issues. The study aimed to use secondary data analysis to determine the most pressing needs of senior citizens. The essay examined their current situation, problems, and needs. Nepal's elderly population is growing every year. They have not received adequate care from the government. The private sector made a considerable contribution to this endeavor. Both the government and the private sector have made efforts in this regard. They are currently battling to meet their basic requirements. Senior citizens not receiving adequate food and has disability mental illnesses are two of the several misfortunes listed in the research papers, both of which are public health concerns. They are in dire need of proper nutrition as well as mental health promotion. That is an area where both the government and the private sector can focus. COVID-19 has the highest Case Fatality Rate among elderly adults, and Nepalese senior citizens have a high mortality rate. The high mortality and fatality rates of COVID among the elderly have prompted policymakers to focus on senior citizens' health and living conditions. There are three tiers of government in Nepal. If they understand the issue, they will develop strategies and services to aid senior citizens. In this changing environment, the public and private sectors at various levels must enhance cooperation to improve the dreadful situation of senior citizens. Also, the importance of family in senior citizen care has grown in recent years.

Limited research has been conducted on the views of senior citizens in Nepal with regards to contemporary challenges and aging issues. To better understand their existing problems, it is important to talk to and survey senior citizens and reflect on their experiences and insights. The Senior Citizens Acts, 2063 in Nepal defines senior citizens as individuals who have reached the age of 60 years or above. With an increase in life expectancy rates, the senior citizen population in Nepal is on the rise. However, despite the guarantees of rights outlined in the policy, little attention has been paid to the needs of the elderly population. This knowledge can help inform policies and programs that improve their quality of life and well-being. Therefore, this study aims to collect the lived experiences of older generations across Nepal, including information about the society, culture, and hardships they faced. The research aims to contribute to existing literature on the experiences of the elderly and inform policies related to senior citizens. A mixed-methods approach was used for this study, incorporating both primary and secondary sources. The primary data was collected through an informal survey posted on Facebook targeting senior citizens in Nepal which generated 100 responses from senior citizens aged 65 years or older within a 2-week period.

<p>The right to the city, the right to livelihood, the right to move, the right to work, the right to being in a place have all got disrupted in the past few months. The unprecedented crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic has sent waves of anxiety and panic throughout the world. The infection does not seem to spare any age group but the elderly are at a higher risk. Elder abuse is a universal pervasive problem of paramount public health importance that garners little attention. Elders suffer from abuse in various ways, like physical, psychological, sexual, material exploitation, and neglect, by their trustworthy caregivers. The elderly face social isolation and one need various ways to mitigate the adverse effects of social isolation. Potential risk factors are social isolation, cognitive impairment, traumatic life events, and dependence on abusers, poor physical and mental health and low social support are some of the concerns.</p><p>Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resultant social restrictive measures such as lockdown in most places throughout the world, elderly abuse has increased to a great extent. This paper discusses plausible reasons and various socio-cultural factors of elderly abuse. It could lead to the possibility of a menace into a ‘social pandemic’ in the future.</p>

This study was conducted to verify the effectiveness of use according to the purpose of establishing a senior citizen center, focusing on the late elderly aged 75 or older. To this end, the effectiveness of using senior citizen centers was evaluated by dividing into social participation-leisure-cultural satisfaction, friend and community satisfaction, and overall life satisfaction. The difference in differences(DID) analysis was conducted using the 2008 and 2020 National Survey of Older Persons. As a result, it was found that the overall level of satisfaction with social participation-leisure-cultural satisfaction, friend and community satisfaction of the late elderly decreased over time, but the level of decline of the use group of senior citizen center decreased somewhat. In addition, it was confirmed that the level of overall life satisfaction increased over time, and the level of increase in the group using senior citizens center increased more steeply. Based on these results, this study presented policy suggestions such as preparing countermeasures for sustainable operation, multifunctionalizing a role of senior citizen center, and improving the use environment in relation to the revitalization of senior citizens.

Korea is rapidly aging, with the elderly population accounting for approximately 18% of the total population, entering an aging society, and is expected to soon enter a super-aged society. To understand the characteristics of the elderly, a cohort approach is necessary. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to find out through analysis of variance (ANOVA) whether there are differences between groups in terms of economics and life by age group, based on the baby boom generation, a representative cohort group in Korea, and to identify types within the elderly, not as a single group. It's in doing. In addition, the purpose is to categorize the housing services required for each type of senior citizen and present them as a commercialization model. The results of the ANOVA showed that there were differences between groups in most variables, and the housing prices, rental deposits, and earned income of the elderly were also found to decrease. Social insurance by age group remains higher than that of the previous generation for those reporting an age, and in particular, the social insurance benefit rate has increased. Meanwhile, existing seniors and new seniors were found to have differences in terms of life consciousness, consciousness of old age, attitude toward life, independence, retirement planning, values, leisure view, asset disposal, travel type, hobbies, and life style. Based on this, if we derive a housing service commercialization model for each type of senior citizen, daily life support and work (occupation) support are also required for existing senior citizens. In the case of new senior citizens, support for active community activities, support for hobbies/leisure activities, and support for work or occupational activities is required. Essential housing services for both types include energy and environmental support, health care, safety (life safety), crime prevention (crime safety), relationship support (mental health), and community support.

According to the "2020 Wuhan Community Home Care Special Research Report" published by Hubei Provincial Bureau of Statistics Wu, the household population of Wuhan residents aged 60 and above is 1,942,500, and the market size of senior care services in Wuhan reaches 23.360 billion yuan. The increase in the proportion of the elderly population has contributed to the development of the elderly market, and the corresponding elderly institutions have been differentiated from the general education buildings in terms of space design to achieve the purpose of "learning and enjoyment for the elderly". In this paper, the design example of Park Spring Senior College is combined with the physiological and psychological characteristics of the elderly, and the three aspects of content, characteristics and composite are designed comprehensively, in order to provide some reference for similar units.

Malaysia is reported to be an “elderly’”country by 2030. Senior citizens are “jewels in experience”, wherefore their welfare rights should be protected under the law or by the public in general. Therefore, this paper discusses the rights of senior citizens to be protected by examining the provisions of the Destitute Persons Act 1977. The study was carried out through library research. Apart from analysing the provisions of the Destitute Persons 1977 Act, reported cases of underprivileged and ill senior citizens in Malaysia were also taken into view. In addition, this article also discusses the role of government agencies in helping senior citizens in need of protection and care, in the form of physical or financial assistance. Finally, this article discusses the actions and recommendations of the government which seeks to draw up an Act specifically aimed at protecting senior citizen welfare rights as a whole.

This paper uses the information on elderly visitors, drawn from a survey carried out by the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) in 2018, to identify the factors that facilitate or hinder senior tourists’ visits to museums. The resulting evidence captures how the accessibility of museums impacts the share of elderly visitors who have access problems and higher need of assistance and, therefore, provides useful information to improve cultural supply. The econometric analysis shows some significant relationships between the dependent variable, namely, the share of senior visitors on the total visitors, and the dummy variables employed as regressors indicating the existence of free admission for a certain category of visitors who have a problem of access, free admission for accompanying person, the presence of communication/promotional campaigns aimed at seniors visitors, the presence of an on- line catalogue, and support for visitors with access difficulties. Monetary reasons are not a major hindrance to enjoy cultural sites. The study further outlines certain aspects that should be taken into account to increase senior citizens’ participation in museum activities.

This study examines the elderly people’s health status differentials according to selected background variables on the basis of Ageing Survey 2014. The general objective of the study is to identify the health status of elderly people in socio-cultural perspective. This study examined the associations of different twelve socio-cultural factors with combination of health outcome (Good or Bad) in older age by applying the cross tables, Chi squire test and binary logistic regression analysis. These variables are selected on the basis of theoretical and empirical studies sighted in the literature reviews. This research is find out only three major socio-cultural factors that make variation determine in the health status of elderly people in Nepal. General literacy status does not impact the elderly health situation in Nepal so high level education need to elderly to improve health status of elderly. Highly appreciating and follow up elderly advices help to increase health status of elderly so it should be utilized in most societies of Nepal. Only Kirat religion elderly are found to be in good health condition than Hindu religion. So other religions of Nepal have not significant impact on health status of elderly compare to Hindu religion.

Hyposalivation contributes to several health problems. It can produce serious adverse effects on one's quality of life. The prevalence of dry mouth increases with age, and approximately 30% of those aged 60 years and old are being affected. Ageing and medication are the salient causes of hyposalivation / Xerostomia. The study aims to analyse the salivary flow rate of senior citizens by a questionnaire method & to confirm through clinical evaluation. The objective of the study is to show the importance of clinical evaluation of the oral cavity in estimating the salivary flow. The study was conducted among 40 senior citizens of age 60 & above. The assessment of dry mouth was done by questioner method and by collecting unstimulated saliva. The collected data were subjected to statistical analysis, and chi-square test was performed. It showed that patients who believed that they were pretty fine also had hyposalivation clinically. 57.5% of total participants had less salivary flow rate. Also, 67.5% of participants showed oral manifestation of periodontitis with 7.5% mirror stick appearance. 32.5% of participants had dry-mouth out of which most of them were females and had no drug history. Even though there are many signs and symptoms for oral dryness, clinical evaluation always stands first in diagnosis. Patient under drug therapy and elderly patient's routine dental checkup can help them to know about their dental and general health status.

Walking is the most sustainable, safe, and active mode of transportation among the elderly. There is growing evidence that the built environment influences walkability. However, little research has been conducted to assess the perceived built environment correlates for senior citizens walking in low- and middle-income countries. This paper explores the relationship between built environment characteristics and the walkability of senior citizens in Triplicane, Chennai, India. Seniors aged 60 years and above, both men and women, living in Triplicane, Chennai, were interviewed (n = 221). Personal characteristics and perceived built environment factors were assessed using the Neighborhood Environment Walkability Scale for India (NEWS India). Data were analyzed using SPSS 26 and AMOS 21 software. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was conducted to examine the association between the built environment characteristics and the walkability of senior citizens. The results show that built environment attributes, namely pedestrian safety infrastructure, physical barriers of the neighborhood, and aesthetics, have a high impact on walkability among senior citizens.

Around 64% of adult fall prey to depression and loneliness in urban area. There is also been a significant increase in crime rate against senior citizens being left at home alone.Also,the senior population is most exposed and vulnerable to Covid-19 infections and fall ill often. This paper aims to develop a smartwatch equipped with health monitoring and fall detection techniques for elderly population using a microcontroller’s main component in used in this is an Arduino which is a microcontroller equipped/connected with sensors which can detect the health parameters such as pulse rate, body temperature etc. It also been equipped with fall detection technique which can detect the fall of user wearing the smartwatch and can send SOS to the caretakers concerned with that user.All the previous smartwatches are developed keeping in mind the general population, however this device is solely dedicated to the senior population and act as a health monitoring device. Republic Act (RA) 9994, otherwise known as the Expanded Senior Citizen Act of 2010, was enacted into law to provide more benefits to the elderly and deliver full support to their well-being (Inabangan et al., 2019). The benefits are essential as most of them no longer hold jobs, and financial stability can be challenging if not fatal. The current laws and policy provisions on food and medicine discount and the granting of a social pension to underprivileged senior citizens are only palliatives at best. However, they stretch the limited incomes of these individuals and their supporting families who live below the poverty level. The purpose of the study is to assess the level of awareness and extent of availment on the benefits under RA 9994 of senior citizens in a highly urbanized city of Negros Occidental as well as the relationship between awareness and availment. Likewise, explore the challenges encountered by senior citizens in availing their benefits under RA 9994.

Dog guardianship encourages people to exercise and visit public parks, and it’s a positive feature for senior citizens. This research tested the hypothesis that the effect park quality has on the time that seniors spend walking their dogs is mediated by the attitude of other park visitors toward the dogs and influences dog guardians’ perceived health. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among dog-guardians (> 65 years) in four parks of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. A 13-item questionnaire was administered; park quality and district geomorphology were appraised using gis analysis and field observations. Park quality had a significant and negative indirect effect on perceived health through the mediators’ “dog complaints” and “time spent dog-walking” operating in a serial, causal sequence. Better park quality was related to less dog-walking time and to poorer perceived health; more visitors were attracted and there were increased complaints against dogs. Better park planning for dog walkers is needed.

Consequent to being the signatory for the “Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, 2002,” several countries, including India, have introduced legislation for the social protection of senior citizens. “The Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens(MWP) Act, 2007” is an important legislation in India to safeguard the elderly from exploitation and abuse. Methods: This article critically evaluates the implementation of the MWP Act, 2007, and the related challenges in protecting senior citizens from abuse. The article will also highlight the proposed amendments in the Act to strengthen the effective implementation of legal protection for senior citizens and ensure their well-being and dignity. Conclusions: The MWP act is an important legal measure to ensure mainatinence and welfare of senior citizens and protect them from abuse and neglect. There is an immediate need to incorporate the necessary amendments so that the act gets more pragmatic value and becomes and important tool for elderly care and protection and reduce vulnerabilities and ensure holistic care with support in various bio-psycho-social domains.

This paper deals with the topic of so-called education about death or preparation for death. This paper, as part of the studies from a legal perspective on the well-dying of the elderly, aims to analyze the current status of legislation and operation related to death (preparation) education and seek improvement points.
The Elderly experience so-called ‘death anxiety’, where they feel fear and stress about their own death through the death of family members and relatives. The purpose of death education is to alleviate and resolve this ‘death anxiety’ through understanding the process and nature of death, to rediscover the value and meaning of life, and to have a positive attitude toward the remaining life and the future. Through death education, it becomes possible to exercise the correct ‘right to self-determination’ to independently decide how to end one’s life.
This paper reviews the legal and institutional status of death education. The death education for the elderly is carried out as part of elderly education or leisure activities at leisure welfare facilities for the elderly (for example, welfare center for senior citizens, center for senior citizens, educational courses for senior citizens, etc.) under the Welfare of Senior Citizens Act. In addition, Jeju Island is the first and currently only local government in Korea to enact and implement an ordinance on death education.
This paper proposes the following as a legal and institutional improvement plan for death education. First, it is necessary to systematically legislate various matters related to death education for the elderly. Next is to improve the death education contents delivery system for the elderly. Lastly, it is required to classify the subjects of death education by age and provide education contents appropriate for each age group, thereby promoting death education for the elderly and institutionalizing death education for youth.

Aging is a normal, inevitable, biological and universal phenomenon and is the outcome of certain structural and physiological changes that take place in different parts of the body as the life years increases. During ageing process, coping with the situations of everyday life and meeting its demands become more difficult than before. This study mainly focused on the experiences of senior citizens to cope with their lives. A descriptive qualitative case study design was used to explore the experiences. Twenty-five senior citizens from Pokhara Aged Shelter were selected in the study. In-depth interview was used to collect primary data. Qualitative data was recorded; transcribed and thematic analysis was made. Elderly people express themselves as useless and worthless. They think that they have nothing to contribute to social life and the community. Social activities are reduced after ageing. They have fear of pain, disability, decline, loss of control and death and also have feelings of anxiety, fear and powerlessness. Elderly people have negative feelings such as emptiness, sadness, resignation, frustration, loneliness and regret because of being alone, limited activities or troubles to cope with ageing. They feel discouraged and helpless. During the ageing process, they give up daily activities gradually. Elderly people missed having somebody to share their small daily experiences. Family is an important factor that contributed to the elderly people’s ability to cope with. Hence, the issue of senior citizen and old age should be addressed appropriately as other social problems in society.

Among the most vulnerable groups in society is the elderly, who face issues such as a deteriorating feeling of self-worth brought on by physical weakness, a dwindling social position, and limited financial resources. Feelings of insignificance have been exacerbated by the fact that families are finding it more difficult to care for the elderly due to socioeconomic and demographic changes. As a result, psychological difficulties frequently outweigh outward indications of aging as people age. With a specific focus on 260 senior individuals in Punjab between the ages of 60 and 90, this study sought to investigate the effects of family and social attitudes toward the old. The majority of respondents claimed financial independence, but only 11% reported having stable finances due to rental income and savings account interest. But 8% struggled to pay for everyday needs, and some experienced severe financial difficulties related to fundamental needs and family responsibilities. Remarkably, only 11.7% of older people consistently created strong social relationships, compared to 76.6% who did so on occasion. Furthermore, 16.7% of respondents admitted to their situation, suggesting a greater dedication to maintaining family togetherness. The behavioral changes aligned with the perceptions of 83% of senior respondents who observed a shift in the way older persons view their basic obligations. Family dynamics, economic dependence, physical abuse cases, feelings of isolation, inadequate social support, family members' disdain, and food-related issues were among the main concerns. The study emphasized the complex relationships that exist between aging, health problems, decreased physical activity, and elder abuse. It also clarified the critical roles that qualities, social interactions, financial dependence, and behaviors have in influencing these relationships.

Conventional political analysts and mainstream media accounts attribute substantial political power to the elderly in the United States. This attribution of “senior power” is usually made in the context of the politics of Social Security and Medicare. This article contrasts the conventional construction of elderly political actors as a special interest with a more critical perspective that views Social Security and Medicare as citizens' rights. Critical examination of the welfare state's role in creating age as a potential political cleavage and the politics of Social Security and Medicare reveals that there is no undifferentiated politics of aging in the United States. Rather, age interacts with a variety of other statuses such as race/ethnicity, gender, and class to condition citizens' political mobilization. Welfare state policies—social insurance programs like Social Security and Medicare, means-tested programs like Medicaid and Supplemental Security Income, and targeted tax expenditures for private pensions and health insurance—differentially empower particular subgroups of elderly citizens and routinely disadvantage the most vulnerable elderly, including minority elders, women, and the oldest old.

The smart nursing system is a sensing system and information platform for the elderly in their homes, communities, and institutions for elderly care. Based on this, it provides timely, efficient, and cost-effective elderly care services in real time. These services utilize the Internet of things and the Internet as well. Through the monitoring of video data, we are able to differentiate the visual motions of these elderly individuals and determine whether they are in a normal life state or a fall state. This has the potential to better meet the diverse and multifaceted needs of senior citizens, enhance the quality of life of senior citizens in their final years, and provide senior citizens with greater humanistic care and spiritual solace. Our team has developed an intelligent nursing system based on the visual action recognition algorithm, also known as the deep learning (DL) algorithm. As a result of our simulation tests, we discovered that the algorithm can accurately identify the living situations of elderly individuals at home.

For assesment OPQoL (WHO) questioner was used.This study shows that mean of OPQoL in group 1 (at community/at Home) was 60.20±6.94 and Mean of OPQoL in group 2 (At Old age Home) was 53.83±8.24. Paired T-test also shows that senior citizens living with family members were happier than senior citizens living at old age home.This study suggests that senior citizens living with family members were happier than senior citizens living at old age home.

Purpose The objective of this paper is to focus on seniors’ acceptance of the usage of connected healthcare technologies in their homes. The authors integrated into technology acceptance model (TAM) several latent variables such as social presence, trust and degree of intrusiveness perceived with the use of connected health technologies. Design/methodology/approach The authors distributed the survey by post to 605 seniors. The authors targeted elderly people using connected health technologies (assistive alarm, telecare, sensors, etc.) at home and/or receiving healthcare at home. The authors received 213 questionnaires back. As The authors had several latent variables, the authors used partial least squares (PLS), a variance-based structural equation modeling method. Findings The results show that the level of trust in these technologies impacts significantly the perception of usefulness and the degree of intrusiveness. In parallel, the degree of usefulness of these technologies impacts positively elderly people’s intention to accept their usage. Finally, one can claim that the perception of the social presence with the use of these technologies impacts positively the degree of perceived usefulness, trust and intrusiveness. Research limitations/implications The sample covers a population benefiting from similar connected health technologies. It was difficult to distinguish and interpret the added value of each technology separately. As more and more elderly people use or are least familiarizing themselves with a range of connected technologies it would be interesting to identify which sets of connected technologies contribute the most to a positive feeling of social presence. Social implications These results are particularly relevant to stakeholders in the health industry in their quest to improve their products/services. A better understanding of the relation that the elderly have with connected health technologies is an essential prerequisite to supporting the development of new solutions capable of meeting the specific needs of our seniors. Originality/value The authors want to apply the TAM to connected health technologies designed for elderly people and the authors also want to extend it by integrating the social presence, trust and degree of intrusiveness variables to our research model.

AbstractThis paper examines the relationship between formal and familial support of Singaporean elderly using data from the 1995 National Survey of Senior Citizens. We test whether the availability of formal support is associated with a decrease in the propensity of elderly individuals to rely on children. The findings show that elderly respondents with CPF accounts are significantly less likely to rely on children as their main source of financial support. Other socioeconomic characteristics of seniors have significant effects on reliance on children. Older seniors, females, seniors with little or no education, widowers, and seniors in poor health, and Chinese elderly, are significantly more likely to rely on children. The evidence suggests that as CPF coverage widens, reliance on children will probably decrease.

The health of the elderly (senior Citizen) has become the growing concern as the ageing population increases. Self-reported health is widely used measure of health status through individual. The aim of this study is to identify the major demographic factors of self-reported health among the senior citizen in Nepal. In this study, demographic variables include; Age, sex, marital status, migration status, residence status (rural-urban), and ecological area. This study has utilized data from Nepal Ageing Survey (2015) which is the biggest survey on aging in Nepal till now. Binary Logistic Regression has been used to determine the association between demographic, and self-reported health of elderly. Odds Ratio (OR) is used as a measure of effect. The level of significance is set at 95 percent confidence interval with a p-value of 0.05. The study attempts to examine the role they play in the health status of the elderly (good or bad). The conclusion of the study found significant effect in the health status of the elderly based on age, sex, ecological regions, and settlement status. There is not found significant impact of marital status and migration status on health.

A survey was conducted among 256 potential customers of elderly housing, targeting citizens over 45 years old who were residents of Seoul, the capital city of Korea, at the time of the survey. Findings reveal that most respondents preferred a location based in proximity to Seoul, convenience to the suburbs, a pleasant surrounding environment, and physical equipment and facilities. Medical services and community services were also found to have an impact on preference for residency. Canonical correlation analysis between the factors of elderly lifestyle and selection attribute factors of senior housing facilities demonstrates various significant relationships with implications for developers.

Elderly population has a rapid rise in Nepal. The 2021 census reports 2.97 million elderly people, which equals 10.21 percentage of Nepal's total population, and 38.2 percentage more from the 2011 census. Realizing the problems faced by elderly population in areas of social-cultural, economic, demographic, labor, health, and care, the Elderly Citizens Act, 2006 was ratified by Nepal to address senior citizens' social security needs and issues. The study analyzes how elderly residents of Kirtipur have managed to survive in a family and community setting. Data is gathered from participant observation and in-depth interviews. I have made efforts to analyze whether financial reliance, parental assistance, social interaction, social isolation, and health issues have co-worked for giving stresses to the elderly people. Senior citizens experience many problems like loneliness and helplessness, which are sufficient for creating troubles and anxieties. They also struggle with having a low social position relative to where they were born and missing out on social and cultural events. They also have gone through social and cultural disengagement, family rejection, loss of social contact, and social isolation from their place of origin.

Elderly are the valuable treasures of our society with superior knowledge and have a linkage of the past, present and future that was then passed to forthcoming peer groups and served as a healthy bonding between young and elderly. The paper provides highlights of certain rights of senior citizens and challenges faced in recent times. How far have we as a society come to give a better life to elderly? The westernization and modernization of society has resulted in a “cultural shock” but society should be so developed to retain its values, culture and civilization. Human Rights are part and parcel of Human Dignity, adequately secured by various provisions of Indian Constitution, national and international texts. The Indian judiciary has frequently addressed many issues of the social relationships by stressing on constitutional provisions peculiarly Article 14 and 21. In this year 2022, India will be celebrating its 75th Independence but the intent behind this legislation pertaining to elderly is yet not fully achieved. A character of law cannot be seen in isolation, above that it needs to be emotionally connected which will serve the true purpose of a particular law because certain matters in our society are emotionally connected to people. Despite the physical health problems, they are affected by mental health issues, the Covid-19 Pandemic accelerated doubts such as ‘End of life’ and additional burden of the deadly disease and associated evils of social distancing. There exists a need for more age-friendly cities in India to combat loneliness. The maturity and seniority should not be taken as a word but an actual sense of superiority is needed towards observing them as a resource rather than a burden.

Factors like mobility limitations, social isolation, and lack of immediate support networks further compound these challenges, impacting the quality of life for elderly individuals. In response to these pressing needs, this research introduces Joyful aging, a mobile application designed to provide accessible assistance and support to elderly individuals. The app aims to bridge the gap between elderly individuals in need of assistance and reliable helpers who can offer support with various daily tasks. By harnessing the power of technology, Joyful aging seeks to empower elderly individuals to maintain their independence, enhance their quality of life, and remain actively engaged in their communities. Developed with a user-centric approach, the app prioritizes usability, accessibility, and safety to ensure a seamless and enriching experience for both elderly users and helpers. By facilitating real-time connections between users and helpers, Joyful aging offers a convenient and reliable solution to address the diverse needs of elderly individuals, from basic errands to social interactions. This research paper provides a comprehensive overview of Joyful aging, including its development process, key features and functionalities, usability considerations, user testing and feedback, potential impact, challenges, and future directions. Education counteracts social exclusion and sense of loneliness, provides access to the amenities of the modern world, allows the seniors to satisfy their need for self-accomplishment. Seniors thus face challenges they have never confronted before, while the age of transformation forces them to engage in continuous education, which becomes not only a duty, but also an obligation. Developing the expected forms of education of the elderly is one of the most vital tasks in the years to come.</p>

Abstract Senior-friendly urban information system - case study Increasing urban population, ageing and growing importance of the elderly - those are three independent trends which are currently observed in urban areas. Place of a senior person within society is changing. Overlapping with above trends is inefficient city management as a consequence of growing and denser city population in big agglomerations. It is a common practice that seniors are perceived as second-class citizens. This is reflected by city politics which overlooks measures facilitating day-to-day existence of the elderly in urban space to the benefit of younger generations. City council is allocated a predetermined budget to cater for needs of various age groups. Those resources should be split in a just way, equally between all citizen groups. The evidence the city governing body is doing just that is assurance of mobility to all groups - including seniors. Bearing in mind their health, fitness, access to infrastructure should be facilitated by customising urban information systems to fit perception of the elderly. This way city management shapes city space, thus providing the space in question with new functions, enabling new bahaviours within the framework of the space that has been available so far. Creating a new system of urban information is therefore a management related problem that has to be dealt with taking city related factors into consideration. Decision makers have to solve a conflict that is observed between different groups of interest.

The period nearing the life expectancy of the human life cycle is known as old age, and individuals belonging to this stage are also referred to as senior citizens or the elderly. This article is based on the assumption that family support plays a crucial role in the well-being of senior citizens. The rationale behind this paper is to raise awareness about the challenges faced by senior citizens and to encourage individuals, families, and societies to address these issues through compassion, empathy, and social responsibility. It examines the evolving perspective of caring for senior citizens from various angles, including family support, migration, health, care, economy, roles, and responsibilities. Furthermore, it examines the challenges faced by senior citizens in today's society, where efficiency, strength, speed, and physical attractiveness are highly valued. The paper explores the concept and challenges of senior citizenship within different societal norms.

The paper delves into the problem of mass education for senior citizens in Russia and assesses the capabilities of the country’s system of non-formal elderly education to overcome this problem. It proves the expediency to use the resources of the national education network in social management strategies aimed at increasing the educational level of the older generation. The research demonstrates that it is necessary to purposefully manage the national network of elderly education and forecast the outcome of such an influence. Having analyzed specialized elderly education projects, the authors identify the trends in the functioning of elderly education in Russia and establish the factors in its development. The study provides forecast scenarios for the development of elderly education. Summarizing the scenarios presented, it is worth noting that the government policy will have a decisive effect on the system of elderly education. Undoubtedly, education for senior citizens in Russia will undergo rapid development due to favorable conditions in the country.

AbstractThe objective of this study was to analyze the influence of place of permanent residence (urban or rural) on the tourist activity of senior citizens (60+) of different socioeconomic statuses. The study involved 380 senior citizens (305 female and 75 male) aged 60 years and older who were permanent residents of the region of Warmia and Mazury, Poland. In this group, 244 subjects resided in urban areas and 136 participants were rural dwellers. The respondents were asked to complete a questionnaire regarding their socioeconomic status (place of permanent residence, age, gender, educational attainment, financial status, membership in senior organizations, marital status, and professional activity) and tourist activity. A significance test of two structure coefficients (α=0.05) was applied. Factors such as gender, professional activity, and marital status were not related with the travel propensity of seniors from different groups (urban and rural), but were significant when rural residents were compared with urban dwellers. Seniors residing in urban areas of Warmia and Mazury, Poland, were significantly more likely to travel for leisure than those residing in rural areas. The tourist activity of seniors decreased significantly (p<0.05) with the age (60-74 years) and financial status of rural residents. The travel propensity of elderly people increased significantly (p<0.05) with educational attainment and membership in senior organizations. The study revealed considerable differences in the socioeconomic status and social characteristics of seniors residing in rural and urban areas, and those variations significantly influenced their propensity for travel: urban residents traveled more frequently than rural residents. It can be concluded that place of residence was a crucial factor determining the tourist behavior of senior citizens, and urban dwellers were more likely to travel.

COVID-19 vaccination was opened for senior citizens above 60 years on the 01 March 2021. By 25 June 2021, 2.29 crores senior citizens have received two doses and another 6.71 crores have received the first dose. A total of 9 crores citizens have been given two/one dose of vaccine out of the estimated 14.3 crores people above the age of 60 years. During this period two important roadblocks to the vaccination drive were vaccine hesitancy among certain segment of the population and vaccine coverage especially in the rural areas.
