Streszczenie:
PurposeThis paper aims to examine the notion of escape, which is central to the consumer experience literature, yet remains largely undertheorized. By surfacing the multi-dimensionality of escape, the authors develop a more fine-grained conceptualization of this notion. In addition, this work helps shed new light on past consumer research findings that mobilize the notion of escape.Design/methodology/approachThe paper is based on a review and interpretation of literature referring to the notion of escape in consumer research.FindingsThis paper’s first contribution is to extend the concept of escape based on the Turnerian framework of structure/anti-structure, by establishing a key difference between objects to “escape from” and the major themes of “escape into”. A second contribution is to identify other forms of escape that are mundane, restorative and warlike, and that mobilize the self in different ways.Practical implicationsThe paper provides a more precise conceptualization of escape to motivate further research on this particularly important concept for understanding consumer experience.Social implicationsEscape from one’s own self has become an important feature of contemporary life. Consumer experiences may be ways of crafting identities, but they also form the means of escaping the pressures that come with the burdens of identity.Originality/valueThis paper goes beyond past research on escape by identifying other types of escapes, which have not really been theorized in consumer research. The authors especially note the importance of ephemeral moments where people temporarily suspend their reflexive self, which the authors conceive as a new type of escape route.

Streszczenie:
Micro/nanoswimmers convert diverse energy sources into directional movement, demonstrating significant promise for biomedical and environmental applications, many of which involve complex, tortuous, or crowded environments. Here, we investigated the transport behavior of self-propelled catalytic Janus particles in a complex interconnected porous void space, where the rate-determining step involves the escape from a cavity and translocation through holes to adjacent cavities. Surprisingly, self-propelled nanoswimmers escaped from cavities more than 20× faster than passive (Brownian) particles, despite the fact that the mobility of nanoswimmers was less than 2× greater than that of passive particles in unconfined bulk liquid. Combining experimental measurements, Monte Carlo simulations, and theoretical calculations, we found that the escape of nanoswimmers was enhanced by nuanced secondary effects of self-propulsion which were amplified in confined environments. In particular, active escape was facilitated by anomalously rapid confined short-time mobility, highly efficient surface-mediated searching for holes, and the effective abolition of entropic and/or electrostatic barriers at the exit hole regions by propulsion forces. The latter mechanism converted the escape process from barrier-limited to search-limited. These findings provide general and important insights into micro/nanoswimmer mobility in complex environments.

Streszczenie:
With the disadvantages of complex structure, complicated operation and power control, the application of existing high-building escape device are restricted. A novel high-building escape device is designed based on TRIZ theory, which has the advantages of simple structure, easy operation and without electric or other energy. With the transformation of closed-loop mechanism, the gravity of escape person generate the resistance preventing the rapid drop of escape person. The closed-loop mechanism consists of driving shaft, feedback shaft, drving gear, feedback gear and rope. One end of the rope is winded around the driving shaft, and another end is tied with escape person. With the reduction of layers number of rope, the pressure angle between feedback shaft and rope increase, which cause the raise of resistance and the decrease of landing velocity of escape person. Simulation and experiment show that the designed escape device is effective and safety.

Streszczenie:
Microfinance is many times used as a developmental tool to tackle hunger and other issues related to poverty. The adoption of microfinance as a tool to raise welfare in communities is rising in the sector of Non-Governmental organizations (NGOs). In recent times, development projects by Non-Governmental Organizations have been criticized for lacking financial sustainability and for leading people into a poverty trap created from a vicious cycle of borrowing. For entrepreneurship to flourish, micro-financial clients must first escape the poverty trap by becoming self-sufficient.The purpose of this thesis is to comprehend what strategies operational Non-Governmental Organizations use in developing countries in order for clients to escape the poverty trap with the help of sustainable microfinance. The stakeholder theory is the comprehensive approach used in this thesis to understand how a Non-Governmental Organization’s stakeholders influence their Microfinance Program and vice versa. The Non-Governmental Organizations need to incorporate all the stakeholders and assist these stakeholders to strive for a common goal. A qualitative case study was conducted on the global, non-profit, strategic organization; The Hunger Project. Our findings resulted in identifying the integrated holistic Epicenter strategy as The Hunger Project’s solution to tackling economic- and development inhibiting barriers. The findings indicate that a sustainable Microfinance Program may need to be integrated into all surrounding aspects influencing the micro-financial stakeholders. The implications of this study is that microfinance providers can gain an understanding of the requirements for sustainable Microfinance Programs. This understanding will result in organizations being able to contribute to a more sustainable development for underprivileged entrepreneurs. Our dissertation contributes in creating awareness in potential solutions for overcoming micro-financial criticism, by implementing and integrating sustainable principles along with the society.

Activated by chemotherapy, senescence is a suppressive mechanism that prevents tumor progression. However some cancer cells can emerge and induce clinical relapse. We have recently described that emergent cells resist toanoikis and depend on Mcl-1. This survival pathway is activated by Akt kinase that inhibits Noxa and apoptosis. One of the caracteristics of senescence is the appearance of the secretory phenotype called SASP that can induce deleterious effects to neighboring cells. In this study, we observed that the secretome of persistant cells induces anoïkis resistance, migration and invasion of parental cells. Proteomics analysis performed at laboratory showed that TSP-1 is over expressed in advanced stages of colon and breast tumors. During persistance, TSP-1 and its receptor CD47 are more expressed by senescent cells. Blockade of TSP-1 or its binding on CD47 increases persistence and induces spheroïds generation showing an increase in the proportion of stem cells. Self-renewal factors Nanog and Klf4 are early expressed following treatment. Following CD47 inactivation or stimulation withTSP-1, the expression of Nanog is blocked. The inhibition of Nanog or Klf4 reduces emergence. So, in senescent cells, CD47 could activate self-renewal and could promote emergence. By linking to its receptor, TSP-1 could block these processes et coud act as a tumor suppressor

Snyder, Justin Charles. "A Framework and Exploration of a Cybersecurity Education Escape Room". BYU ScholarsArchive, 2018. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/etd/6958.

Streszczenie:
This thesis presents a review of educational-escape-room literature followed by a design-oriented framework (the Snyder Escape Room Framework or SERF) and demonstrates the potential efficacy of escape-rooms in cybersecurity education. Several authors have proposed frameworks and guidelines for game and educational design regarding escape rooms. This work coalesces some of those ideas into a more substantial and comprehensive framework (SERF) that designers can use when developing educational escape rooms. The Snyder Escape Room Framework provides heuristics for goals and objectives, players, activities, context, trajectory design, and evaluation. Additionally, this work describes and analyzes the novel prototyped BYU GCC escape room experience and delves into some of what was successful and what could be improved. The first sessions of the experience were observed and documented, and an expert review was performed. Participants did not gain much confidence in learning new technology; however, they did increase their confidence in using new technology through the experience. Participants did indeed learn from the experience, however, participants focused more on team-related concepts gained from the experience rather than the cybersecurity concepts introduced through the escape-room activities. Based on overwhelming positive responses, participants seemed to enjoy performing the experience. The BYU experience is evaluated against the Snyder Framework as an example of how to use the framework while designing or as a tool for evaluating. Using this framework systemizes and catalogues design choices and implications on the room and provides an informed approach for refinement. Applying the Snyder Escape Room Framework to the BYU experience provides further insight beyond just an expert review, and the BYU experience is a novel example to use with SERF. SERF gives a vocabulary and set of heuristics that help designers zero in on important design decisions. Using the framework provides a well-defined set of attributes for discussing the BYU experience and helps clarify what went well with the room and what could be improved upon. This is especially helpful when iterating on room design. The nature of Snyder Framework and this work is that it is multidisciplinary and touches a wide array of related fields and topics. Of note, are the implications of this work on educational games. The SERF can be used as a resource when designing similar experiences while the analysis of the BYU experience based on the SERF provides an example of how the framework can be used for evaluation and iteration.

This work exposes the results of the research entitled “Self-efficacy, self-concept and anxiety in a large scale assessment and their relationship with the school performance”, developed in the Graduate Program in Education of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora. The aim of this research was to investigate if the emotional variables “self-efficacy”, “selfconcept” and “anxiety” can assume a critical role for the interpretation of the proficiency of the students evaluated by the assessment program of public education in Minas Gerais State in 2010. For this, I elaborated a questionnaire to measure these emotional variables. The methodology of data analysis occurred in two steps: the first one was the exploratory data analysis and I chose the method of factor loading with Promax rotation; the second step was the confirmatory data analysis, when I used structural equation models. To produce the scores, I chose the model of item response theory of Samejima. With the emotional data I carried out two studies. The first study investigated the relation of the emotional variables and the students’ proficiency when these variables are introduced in the classical linear hierarchical models of proficiency explanation. The results of this study showed that the emotional variables has a great association with the final proficiency of the students, higher than some classical variables like socioeconomic index and school delay, and they might have an important role in the explanation of the associated factors to the school performance and learning. The second study investigated the relation between “anxiety” and “self-efficacy” with socio-demographic and educational variables usually measured in large scale assessment programs. Here, my opinion was for the use of linear hierarchical models too. The results indicate that these emotional variables were influenced by class features in the initial grades of basic education. However, in the final grades of the basic education I observed a change in the results and it's possible to see that the individual features of the students have more influence on the emotional variables. In conclusion, the findings of this research showed that the psychological science is able to take over a critical role in the conceptualization of public policies of education, in the understanding of the learning processes underlying that policy, in the increasing of the support of teachers and in the comprehension of the relation between individual features and the school performance of students.

Streszczenie:
This chapter explores the potentials of multistable figures (Kippbilder) for conceptualizing urban change. This potential, Hentschel argues, lies in the flip-moment itself, in the space-time of urban transformation. In Berlin-Neukölln, a neighbourhood long branded as poor and failing, multiple and partly conflicting flip-scenarios have begun to inspire and haunt the neighbourhood and its self-reflective talk. KippCity Neukölln is thus a flickering figure. But unlike an artefact Kippbild, which flickers between duck and rabbit, for example, KippCity Neukölln does not simply tip into a new pre-fabricated form, but rather wavers between different future scenarios. Neukölln’s flickering urbanity is thus nervous, full of uncertainty, frustration and enthusiasm. The article shows how the neighbourhood seeks escape from the dystopia of two dominant flip scenarios of ghettoization and gentrification by digging its claws into its Now.

Streszczenie:
Abstract In part because the Gate explored an experimental dramaturgy, its artistic directors Micheál mac Liammóir and Hilton Edwards often wrote, spoke and advocated for a drama that could move beyond realism. The analysis of Hilton Edwards’s dramatic commentary reaches from his early articles on dramaturgy right up to his encounter with the Berliner Ensemble in 1956 that influenced Edwards’s most elaborate statement on drama, The Mantle of Harlequin (1958). An important part of Edwards’s vision was his cosmopolitanism, his refusal to view drama within a restricted national framework. Nationality, on the other hand, was more important for the self-styled Irishman Micheál mac Liammóir. On close inspection, however, we find that his outlook did not differ much from Edwards’s. Mac Liammóir’s main concern was for Irish(-language) drama to absorb elements from abroad, to escape the straitjacket of Abbey realism and to become distinctive in a global context.

Streszczenie:
AbstractThe chapter is devoted to the analysis of the features of local structural rearrangementsin nanostructured materialsunder shear loadingand nanoindentation. The study was carried out using molecular dynamics-based computer simulation. In particular, we investigated the features of symmetric tilt grain boundary migration in bcc and fcc metals under shear loading. The main emphasis was on identifying atomic mechanisms responsible for the migration of symmetric tilt grain boundaries. We revealed that grain boundaries of this type can move with abnormally high velocities up to several hundred meters per second. The grain boundary velocity depends on the shear rate and grain boundary structure. It is important to note that the migration of grain boundary does not lead to the formation of structural defects. We showed that grain boundary moves in a pronounced jump-like manner as a result of a certain sequence of self-consistent displacements of grain boundary atomic planes and adjacent planes. The number of atomic planes involved in the migration process depends on the structure of the grain boundary. In the case of bcc vanadium, five planes participate in the migration of the Σ5(210)[001] grain boundary, and three planes determine the Σ5(310)[001] grain boundary motion. The Σ5(310)[001] grain boundary in fcc nickel moves as a result of rearrangements of six atomic planes. The stacking order of atomic planes participating in the grain boundary migration can change. A jump-like manner of grain boundary motion may be divided into two stages. The first stage is a long time interval of stress increase during shear loading. The grain boundary is motionless during this period and accumulates elastic strain energy. This is followed by the stage of jump-like grain boundary motion, which results in rapid stress drop. The related study was focused on understanding the atomic rearrangements responsible for the nucleation of plasticity near different crystallographic surfaces of fcc and bcc metals under nanoindentation. We showed that a wedge-shaped region, which consists of atoms with a changed symmetry of the nearest environment, is formed under the indentation of the (001) surface of the copper crystallite. Stacking faults arise in the (111) atomic planes of the contact zone under the indentation of the (011) surface. Their escape on the side free surface leads to a step formation. Indentation of the (111) surface is accompanied by nucleation of partial dislocations in the contact zone subsequent formation of nanotwins. The results of the nanoindentation of bcc iron bicrystal show that the grain boundary prevents the propagation of structural defects nucleated in the contact zone into the neighboring grain.

In this work we present the results of the modeling of exoplanet pi Men c upper atmosphere, produced using the previously developed one-dimensional self-consistent aeronomic model. The model used takes into account the contribution of suprathermal particles, which significantly refines the heating function of the atmosphere. The hight profiles of temperature, velocity and density were obtained, the atmospheric mass-loss rate was calculated. The presence of two hight-scales in the structure of the atmosphere was found: the first corresponds to a relatively dense stationary atmosphere, the second to a more rarefied corona.

Streszczenie:
This study aims to examine the life history of migrant women who have experienced divorce in a socio-cultural context. Five people participated in the study, and they have been living in self-reliance support facilities since their divorce. They were selected from interviews on the life history of 80 married migrant women, which were funded by the Korea Research Foundation from 2017 to 2019. The method of research is a life-historical case study. The results of the study are as follow; first, their marriage was to escape gender hierarchy and poverty in their home country. Therefore, it was confirmed that marriage migration took place within the transnational trend of feminization of migration. Second, self-reliance support facilities provide strong social support for divorced migrant women. As a result, it works as an important space that allows them to escape from voluntary self-exclusion and explore new subjectivity. Suggestions of the implications are as follow; the social support from self-reliance support facilities after divorce is a driving factor that is the subjective and active effort of single-parent migrant women. Discussions should continue that those who are free from the spouses of the people can live as practical and public citizens of Korean society.

Streszczenie:
Aim/Purpose: The increased production of processed food, rapid urbanization, and changing lifestyles have led to a shift in dietary patterns so people are now consuming more unhealthy foods. To change unhealthy dietary patterns, there is a need to educate the individuals to keep a balanced diet that is rich in nutritional requirements. One way to educate a heterogeneous population, from preschool to adults, is by learning through games. Background: In recent years, the use of games as a pedagogical method is gaining momen-tum. Game-based learning (GBL) refers to any learning environments or activities that use games to support learning and teaching. GBL enables learners to practice skills that traditional teaching may not offer and promote more efficient learning. GBL includes various types of games; one of them is escape games (EG), which have become a popular trend in the world. Because EG are a relatively new phenomenon, the research on their development and educational value is still in its initial stages. Methodology: The current study is set to develop a methodology for ‘educational EG’ and to examine its role in promoting knowledge, awareness, and motivation toward a healthy nutrition. The study’s theoretical framework is guided by the situated learning theory, as EG are situated in a unique setting that instigates interactions between the players and between them and the learning environment. The research questions are 1. What is the educational potential of escape games? 2. Whether and how can EG promote knowledge, awareness, and motivation toward a healthy nutrition? 3. What are the predicting factors of knowledge, awareness, and motivation toward a healthy nutrition, in the context of educational EG? Contribution: The research’s contributions are in three levels: In the theoretical level, the study contributes a layer of knowledge on situated learning environments, offering a new model for the development and implementation of educational EG. In the methodological level, the study presents valid and reliable research tools for examining the effectiveness of educational EG. In the practical level, the study provides a tangible EG kit on healthy nutrition. Findings: Initial findings indicated on an overall increase in the participants’ positive views about EG as a situated learning environment. The findings also indicated that participation in an EG has a potential to promote knowledge and awareness of nutrition-related issues. The players’ motivation to learn about nutrition increased after participating in the game, mainly due to an increase in their sense of self-efficacy.
