Grounded in the Enrichment Triad and Achievement Orientation Models, this qualitative case study builds understanding of the relationship between participation in Type III Enrichment and the achievement orientation attitude of goal valuation in gifted secondary school students. Participants included 10 gifted secondary school students, their parents, and their classroom teacher. Data included student, parent, and teacher responses in semistructured interviews, short-answer surveys, and student work. Findings indicate a relationship between participation in enrichment and goal valuation. Students engaged in Type III Enrichment perceived their projects as interesting, beneficial, and/or as related to perceptions of identity. In addition, factors of goal valuation were related to students’ continued interest and perceptions of enjoyment after completion of the enrichment projects. These findings have implications for structuring gifted education programs that meet the special needs of gifted secondary school learners.

School students need clear boundaries: boundaries that adults - parents as well as teachers - must set. We cannot abdicate our responsibility when students move outside those boundaries. To do that is to betray children, because the consequences of bad behaviour are so damaging It is the duty of the parents and teachers to create disciplinary awareness. The study aimed to examine the disciplinary awareness among secondary school students. The investigator adopted survey method to study the disciplinary awareness among school students. For this study a sample of 300 school students from 5 Govt and Private schools which are situated in and around Udumalpet town of Tirupur district in Tamil Nadu were selected by the investigator using simple random sampling technique. The findings reveal that 28.33% of the school students belong to low level of disciplinary awareness, 43.66% of school students the belong to moderate level of disciplinary awareness, 28% of school students belong to high level of disciplinary awareness. Also it is found that there is a significant difference in attitude towards disciplinary awareness between male and female among school students. Females possess better disciplinary awareness than male students.

The study describes the development of school identity among young people, it focuses on its two main processes, namely the exploration of the study and commitment to study. The research goal of the study was to determine the role of the type of the school and subjective perception of the study in these processes. 194 university students and 116 students of secondary technical schools with craft specialisation between 18 and 21 years of age filled in the questionnaire of school identity and answered questions about the attitude to their study. Analysis of covariance showed that university students, compared to the students of secondary technical schools with craft specialisation, are characterised by a greater degree of exploration of the study. Subjectively perceived career relevance of the study and preference of the study significantly influenced the degree of commitment to study. The highest degree of commitment to study was reached by those students, who perceived their study as a direct part of preparation for their future career, and students, who studied the field they have always wanted to study. The results are discussed considering the theoretical basis of the study and its possible practical impact.

Abstract The study presents a characterization of an inclusive secondary school in Bratislava and provides information about the forms and methods used in the work of the teachers, school psychologists, special teachers with regard to students with special needs (students with Attention and Hyperactivity Disorder, i.e. ADHD, with learning difficulties, with emotional and behaviour difficulties, etc.), who are educated together with mainstream students. It also provides information on the first results of the measurements of the socio-emotional health of the students in the inclusive school, both as to its overall level (covitality index) and as to the level of the four psychological dimensions of mental health. The pilot project of the inclusive school confirms that inclusive secondary schools and inclusive education operating within the intentions of positive psychology help the students to develop their cognitive and socio-emotional competences, to create favourable attitudes to diversity, to form the students’ scale of positive values and to encourage positive interpersonal relationships, social cohesion and social classroom climate.

The issue becomes especially important for young people, especially secondary school students, their attitudes toward money, to make predictions about people's socio-economic behavior in the future. The current high school students after several years will be active players of many socio-economic processes, therefore research of their current attitudes towards money - may be particularly interesting, instructive, and enable adjustments to eliminate the potential problems of the monetary behavior in the future. Such studies can give students the necessary knowledge of the behavior of money that will be contribution to the practice of psychological counseling. Currently, the monetary aspect of the relationship of psychological research in both empirical and theoretical perspective is global, but hardly done in Latvia. Therefore, this pilot study is an attempt to develop an insight into this topic in Latvia. The paper examines the secondary monetary relationship in minority school in Riga (in Latviaa), and the results are compared with similar research data in Russia.

The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of KCPE as a predictor of KCSE scores among public secondary school students in Kisii central Sub-county, Kenya. This study was guided by a conceptual framework where KCPE was the independent variable and KCSE the dependent variable. It adopted Correlational and Ex-post-facto research designs. The study population was 3,897 KCSE candidates from 55 public secondary schools. Stratified random sampling based on school type and size was used to select 16 public secondary schools for the study. Saturated sampling was employed to include all KCSE candidates whose KCPE marks were available in each sampled school, yielding a sample of 1,391 students. Data used included 2006 KCPE scores and 2010 KCSE scores of the same students under study. Data was collected using a researcher made pro forma. It was analyzed quantitatively using correlations and regression analyses. Results showed a strong positive Pearson’s correlation coefficient (r=0.693; n=1391; p < 0.05) between KCPE and KCSE scores. It recommended that; KCPE should continue to be used as selection tool for secondary school admission and school evaluation using KCSE examination scores should be based on students’ past KCPE scores.

Student Council is a representative structure through which students in a secondary school become involved in school affairs. The study set out to investigate student council participation in the management of discipline in public secondary schools in Teso North Sub-County in Busia County, Kenya. The study sought to establish: the influence of student council participation in the formulation of rules and regulations on management of discipline, and the influence of student council involvement in formulating punishment on the management of discipline. The target population was 7379 students and 189 teachers and 27 principals from 27 schools. The research employed descriptive survey design using a random sample of 365 students, 18 teachers and 9 principals. This sample size was determined using Krejcie and Morgan’s table of sample determination and using coefficient variation of 30% and a standard error of 2% through stratified simple random sampling technique. The data was collected using a selfadministered questionnaire. The study established that schools involved students in designing punishment but students never took punishment positively and that common disciplinary problems experienced in schools was due to lack of students involvement. It was further established that students were haphazardly involved in the school management of students’ discipline. Thus the study recommends schools to empower students’ council in which students’ views and ideas are heard and discussed; Ministry of education to organize and offer seminars where school heads are well sensitized on involving students in school management.

Streszczenie:
The major objective of this article is to describe the perception of self-efficacy and attitude towards mathematics of students studying science and mathematics in grade 12 in Kathmandu valley. Cross-sectional descriptive design and quantitative method were used to collect and analyze data. Data were collected from 318 randomly selected students studying science in grade 12, from nine different schools of Kathmandu valley through self-administered questionnaire. The survey showed that majority of girls and boys were encouraged by their parents to get enrolled in the science stream. Most of them chose mathematics courses to enter into the fields of engineering and technical sciences. From the observation we found that perceived self-efficacy is good i.e. both girls and boys have positive and good attitude towards mathematics courses. There is no gender variation in attitude of students learning mathematics between girls and boys. Therefore, attitude towards mathematics are less likely to be influenced by gender of students, castes and educational status of parents. Many students can be attracted towards mathematics field of study by providing information and counseling about academic opportunity for mathematics in higher education.

Streszczenie:
Today, in education prevails the paradigm that is geared towards the complete and varied development of a person. This implies the development of the students ability for self-determination towards various other perspective offered by contemporary social residence. Meanwhile in the time of adolescence, the youth experience serious crises regarding their identity, in which the free time and the activities during the free time can be positively used with a cause to be interrupted unconstructive and chaotic use of the free time by the youth. In this thesis are being analyzed the contents and the ways with what the secondary school students in the Republic of Macedonia fulfill their free time outside the school, specifically there will be an examination about the gender differences i.e. the amount and manner of spending their free time. In the approach to the study of the problem of research, we decided to apply: inductive method, deductive method and the method of comparison.

Streszczenie:
The study examined secondary school students' ability to interpret various representations of simple three-dimensional objects. Verbal descriptions, descriptions based on coordinates, graphical representations, and actual prototypes were employed. The two-dimensional graphical representations were plans, elevations, and perspective drawings. Grade 7, Grade 9, and Grade 11 students were given four identical wooden cubes and asked to construct the objects represented by a particular description, graphical representation, or prototype. For all ages studied, verbal descriptions, perspective drawings, and prototypes were more easily interpreted than plans, elevations, and descriptions based on coordinates. Perspective drawings and prototypes were more easily interpreted than verbal descriptions, but students did not find copying a prototype easier than using a perspective drawing. Grade 9 and Grade 11 students were more successful than Grade 7 students in interpreting plans, elevations, and descriptions based on coordinates; no difference was found between Grade 9 and Grade 11 students.
