ABSTRAK : Kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) adalah jenis kepiting yang hidup di perairan pantai, tambak, dan hutan bakau (mangrove). Kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) merupakan komoditas ekspor bernilai ekonomis tinggi yang sangat potensial untuk dikembangkan dan memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi di Indonesia, terutama kepiting yang sudah dewasa serta gemuk. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik morfometrik kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) seperti kelimpahan relatif kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata), distribusi lebar karapas, dan hubungan lebar karapas – berat kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata). Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kelimpahan realatif kepiting dan analisis regresi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari – April 2019 di Kecamatan Wedung, Demak. Materi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah sampel kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) hasil tangkapan nelayan di daerah tersebut. Kepiting bakau hasil tangkapan nelayan tersebut dihitung jumlahnya, diidentifikasi jenis kelaminnya, diukur lebar karapas dan ditimbang beratnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) yang tertangkap pada bulan Februari – April 2019 diperoleh 300 individu yang terdiri dari 202 jantan dan 98 betina. Rata – rata ukuran lebar karapas tertinggi berkisar 9.8 cm pada hasil tangkapan di bulan Februari. Hubungan lebar karapas – berat Kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) baik jantan maupun betina menunjukkan pola pertumbuhan allometrik negatif. ABSTRACT : Giant mud crab (Scylla serrata) are types of crabs that live in coastal waters, ponds, and mangrove forests. Giant mud crab (Scylla serrata) is a high economic value export commodity that has the potential to be developed and has high economic value in Indonesia, especially crabs that are mature and fat. The purpose of this study was to determine the morphometric characteristics of giant mud crab (Scylla serrata) such as relative abundance of giant mud crab (Scylla serrata), carapace width distribution, and the relationship between carapace width - weight of giant mud crab (Scylla serrata). The analysis used in this study is the relative abundance of giant mud crab and regression analysis. This research was conducted in February - April 2019 in the subdistrict of Wedung, Demak. The material used in this study was a sample of giant mud crab (Scylla serrata) from the fishermen catch in the area. The giant mud crab captured by the fishermen are counted, identified by sex, measured in carapace width and weighed. The results showed that giant mud crab (Scylla serrata) caught in February - April 2019 obtained 300 individuals consisting of 202 males and 98 females. The highest average carapace width ranges from 9.8 cm in catches in February. Relationship between carapace and weight of giant mud crab (Scylla serrata) both male and female showed negative allometric growth patterns.

Peraturan Menteri Kelautan Perikanan RI nomor 1 Tahun 2015 menetapkan ukuran lebar karapas untuk Kepiting Bakau (Scylla serrata) layak tangkap minimal 15 cm. Konstruksi trap yang digunakan untuk menangkap Scylla serrata di perairan Rembang memberikan peluang tertangkapnya stadia juvenille (< 10 cm CW). Trap dengan inovasi celah pelolosan diasumsikan dapat meloloskan Scylla serrata stadia juvenille. Desain celah pelolosan berbentuk segi empat terletak sepanjang bagian sisi bawah trap dengan ukuran tinggi 3 cm, memberikan hasil tangkapan Scylla serrata yang terkecil berukuran lebar karapas rata-rata 8,3 cm dibandingkan tanpa celah pelolosan dengan ukuran terkecil lebar karapas rata-rata 5,3 cm. Tertangkapnya Scylla serrata dengan desain trap bercelah pelolosan < 10 cm CW (stadia juvenille) mengindikasikan bahwa populasi biota tersebut di perairan Rembang berukuran kecil pada saat dilakukannya penelitian pada bulan April sampai dengan Juni 2016. Regulation of the Minister of Marine and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1 / 2015 set the legal size of Mud crab (Scylla serrata) at least 15 cm carapace width. The trap construction used to capture Scylla serrata in Rembang waters provides an opportunity for capturing juvenile stadia (<10 cm carapace width/CW). The innovation of trap with the escape gap is assumed to pass Scylla serrata juvenille stadia. The design escape gap of a rectangular is located along the underside of the trap with a height of 3 cm, giving the smallest Scylla serrata catches the width of an average carapace by 8.3 cm compared with no escape passes with the smallest size of the average carapace width of 5.3 cm. The capture of Scylla serrata with the trap design of a 10 cm CW (juvenile stadia) trap indicates that the biota population in Rembang waters is small in the case of a study in April to June 2016.

Mud crab (Scylla serrata) is a ten-legged crustacean animal from Brachura infraordo, known to have a very short tail (in Greek: brachy = short, ura = tail). Mangrove crab is one of the aquatic biota that has significant economic value and its life is strongly influenced by the existence of mangrove forest. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the relationship of weight and growth patterns of mangrove crab (Scylla serrata). Sampling is obtained by catching activities using fishing gear that is bubu (chang). Based on the results of research conducted in the area of Mangrove Forest around Wet Laboratory Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Likupang Timur in August - September 2017. Mangrove crab (Scylla serrata) is one of the prima donna sources of protein caught by fishermen around mangrove forest waters in the waters of the Barumun River Estuary, Labuhanbatu Regency. This study aims to inform about condition factors, growth patterns of crab populations, and reproductive aspects in the form of abundance of Gonad Maturity Level (TKG). Determination of 3 sampling points is done by using purposive random sampling method. Scylla serrata sampling was carried out using Bubu. Data analysis presents information on the abundance of gonadal maturity level, growth pattern, and Fulton condition factor (K), which is presented quantitatively. The results showed that male and female Scylla serrata growth patterns were categorized as negative allometric b < 3, with carapace width growth being faster than weight gain. Fulton condition factor (K) values obtained ranged from 50.14-132.75 for male Scylla serrata, and female ranged from 80.34-123.94. The gonadal maturity level of Scylla serrata was dominated by TKG II crabs, and the lowest abundance of gonad maturity was in TKG IV crabs. This indicates that, in December-February, the condition of the Scylla serrata population around the mangrove forest waters of the Barumun river estuary, is predicted to be in the stage of adult dominance that is ready to reproduce and prepare to spawn.

Research has been carried out on the intensity and prevalence of ectoparasites in mud crabs (Scylla serrata) in the brackish waters of Cadek Village, Baitussalam District, Aceh Besar in November to December 2020. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of types of ectoparasites, prevalence and intensity found in mud crab (Scylla serrata) in Cadek Village, Baitussalam District, Aceh Besar District. Sampling conducted randomly and the data were analyzed descriptively in the form of tables and figures. The results showed that the types of ectoparasites that infect crabs mangroves in the brackish waters of Cadek Village, namely Octolasmis and Zoothamnium sp. Value prevalence of ectoparasites infesting Scylla serrata in the brackish waters of Cadek. Village is Zoothamnium sp. 40% and Octolasmis sp. 90% are included in the category of parasites it almost always infests Scylla serrata. The intensity value of the type of ectoparasites Infesting Scylla serrata in the brackish waters of Cadek Village is Zoothamnium sp. 6.75 parasite/tail and Octolasmis sp. 69 parasites/tails that fall into the category of infestation very heavy.

Labuhan Bahari Belawan Medan merupakan sebuah pulau yang terletak di Selat Malaka, Sumatera Utara. Salah satu sumberdaya perikanan di perairan tersebut adalah kepiting bakau, namun informasi mengenai kepiting bakau pada daerah ini masih kurang terutama jenis spesiesnya. Tujuan dari penelitian yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari-Februari 2012 ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis dan morfologi kepiting bakau, kelimpahan yang mendominasi, dan mengetahui ekonomi kepiting bakau di perairan Labuhan Bahari Belawan Medan. Kepiting yang diteliti adalah kepiting bakau yang tertangkap di wilayah mangrove dan sekitar tambak yang ditumbuhi mangrove. Sampling dilakukan dengan alat tangkap bubu oleh masyarakat sekitar dinamakan bubu planet. Kepiting yang tertangkap diidentifikasi dan dilakukan pengukuran morfometrik kemudian menganalisa data yang didapatkan, dan wawancara nelayan untuk mengetahui nilai ekonomi kepiting bakau tersebut. Jumlah spesies kepiting bakau yang ditemukan adalah 3 spesies yaitu Scylla tranquebarica, Scylla serrata dan Scylla paramamosain, dengan kelimpahan yang mendominasi adalah Scylla tranquebarica sebesar 54,72%, Scylla paramamosain sebesar 33,96%, dan Scylla serrata sebesar 11,32% di stasiun I (di kawasan mangrove), sedangkan di stasiun II (di luar kawasan mangrove) Scylla serrata 45,76%, Scylla tranquebarica sebesar 33,98%, dan Scylla paramamosain sebesar 15,25%. Kepiting bakau yang biasanya dipasarkan adalah kepiting yang memiliki berat ≥200 gram per ekor baik jantan maupun betina.

Kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) merupakan salah satu spesies kunci dalam ekosistem mangrove yang memegang peranan yang sangat penting. Hutan mangrove yang ada di Kelurahan Belawan Sicanang sudah banyak mengalami konversi lahan seperti tambak dan pemukiman. Kondisi ini menyebabkan terjadinya penurunan kualitas habitat dan penurunan populasi untuk sumberdaya kepiting bakau akibat terjadinya kerusakan daerah asuhan dan mencari makan biota ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi ekologi mangrove, untuk mengetahui kelimpahan kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata), untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) di Hutan Mangrove Kelurahan Belawan Sicanang Kecamatan Medan Belawan Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Penelitian berlangsung pada Mei - Juni 2016. Metode yang digunakan dalam penentuan lokasi adalah purposive sampling dan dibagi menjadi 3 stasiun berdasarkan aktivitas yang berbeda. Struktur populasi kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) ditinjau dari kelimpahan kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata), hubungan lebar karapas dengan bobot tubuh, pola pertumbuhan, dan faktor kondisi. Kualitas habitat kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) dilihat dari kualitas air, tekstur substrat, C-organik, dan pasang surut. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kelimpahan kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) 16300 - 17000 ind/ha, dengan pola pertumbuhan allometrik negatif (b<3), faktor kondisi berkisar antara 0 - 1 yang tergolong ke dalam pipih atau tidak gemuk. Kualitas air dan substrat yang dikaji termasuk ke dalam kualitas air yang menunjang kehidupan kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata), tekstur substrat yaitu lempung berpasir dan lempung liat berpasir, serta C-organik < 1% tergolong sangat rendah, dimana tipe pasang surutnya adalah mixed prevailing semidiurnal.Mangrove crab (Scylla serrata) is one of the keystone species in the mangrove ecosystem, which had a very important role. Mangrove forests existed in Village Belawan Sicanang have been many experienced land conversion as embankment and settlements. These conditions led to degradation in habitat quality and population decline for mangrove crab due to the occurrence of the damage to the nursery ground and the feeding ground. The research aimed to determine abundance mangrove crabs and to determine the growth of mangrove crab. The research took place in May - June 2016. The method used in the determination of the location is purposive sampling and divided into 3 stations based on different activities. The mangrove crab population structure in terms of the abundance of mangrove crab, carapace width relation with body weight, growth pattern, and factor condition. The quality habitat mangrove crab viewed the water quality, the substrate texture, C-organic, and tides. The results showed that the growth pattern was negative allometric (b < 3), factor condition ranges between 0 - 1 which classified into flat or not fat. The water quality and substrate were assessed included in the water quality that supported life mangrove crab, the substrate texture was sandy loam and sandy clay loam, C-organic classified < 1% was very low, the type of tides was mixed semidiurnal prevailing.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis ektoparasit yang menyerang ketiting bakau (Scylla serrata) dan untuk mengetahui tingkat intensitas, prevalensi dan dominasi ektoparasit yang teridentifikasi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan untuk menginventarisasi parasit yang ditemukan pada kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata). Metode pengambilan data dilakukan dengan metode observasi lapangan yang dilakukan pada daerah pertambakan masyarakat Desa Segintung. Sampel yang diambil berupa kepiting bakau yang masih hidup sebanyak 100 ekor. Pengamatan ektoparasit dilakukan dengan metode smear dibagian eksternal kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) yaitu bagian karapaks, kaki jalan, kaki renang dan insang. Penelitiaan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan oktober – november 2018. Parameter yang diamati dalam penelitian ini meliputi prevalensi, intensitas dan dominasi ektoparasit pada kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) dan data hasil penelitian dianalisa secara deskriftif Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat 4 jenis ektoparasit pada kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) yaitu Octolasmis sp, Vorticella, Zoothamnium, dan Epistylis sp. Parasit Octolasmis sp. hanya menyerang bagian insang saja. Zoothamnium sp menyerang bagian karapaks dan insang. Vorticella sp dan Epistylis sp menyerang semua bagian mikrobahitat yang diamati pada penelitian ini (kaki jalan, kaki renang, karapaks dan insang). Jumlah parasit terbanyak ditemukan pada bagian karapaks yaitu 658 individu. intensitas serangan parasit tertinggi yang menyerang kepiting bakau adalah parasit Zoothamnium sp dengan intensitas serangan sedang. Prevalensi tertinggi terdapat pada parasit Octolasmis sp dengan nilai prevalensi sebesar 0.62%. Parasit yang menyerang kepiting bakau didominasi oleh parasit Epistylis sp yaitu dengan nilai dominasi sebesar 46.05%

The purpose of this study was to identify the morphometric characters of mangrove crabs Scylla spp. and to grow them on the island of Para Sangihe Islands Regency, North Sulawesi Province. There were 2 types of crabs found during crab’s collection. However, the most abundant one was Scylla serrata while the olivacea is only one tail. The results of this study indicate that mangrove crabs that were kept for 2 weeks feed on trash fish three times a day experience growth. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that: the type of crab found on Pulau Para, Tatoareng District, Sangihe Islands Regency, North Sulawesi Province were mostly S. serrata (34 tails) and one tail of S. olivacea. The fattening of mangrove crabs showed results on the body weight and carapace length.Further research on mangrove crabs needs to be done on different aspects such as preferable food and time of the abundancy.Keywords: Crab, Scylla spp., identification, fattening. ABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi karakter morfometrik kepiting bakau Scylla spp dan cara penggemukannya di Pulau Para Kabupaten Kepulauan Sangihe Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Dua jenis kepiting bakau ditemukan saat pengumpulan data, namun yang ditemukan paling banyak adalah Scylla serrata, sedangkan S. olivacea hanya 1 ekor saja.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa kepiting bakau yang dipelihara selama 2 minggu dengan diberi pakan ikan rucah sebanyak tiga kali sehari mengalami pertumbuhan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa: jenis kepiting yang ditemukan di Pulau Para Kecamatan Tatoareng Kabupaten Kepulauan Sangihe Provinsi Sulawesi Utara adalah Scylla serrata (34 ekor) dan S. olivacea (1 ekor). Penggemukan kepiting bakau dengan pakan ikan rucah tiga kali sehari menunjukan adanya pertumbuhan berat badan dan panjang lebar karapas. Penelitian lanjutan tentang kepiting bakau perlu dilakukan untuk melihat berbagai aspek seperti makanan kesukaan dan waktu kelimpahanya.Kata kunci : Kepiting, Scylla spp, identifikasi, penggemukan.

The study of population biology of mud crab Scylla serrata is necessary to analyse the population dynamics, such as growth of crabs, size distribution, mortality and exploitation rates of S. serrata. Population biology data collection was carried out from March to June 2016 at estuary and silvofishery areas of three stations (Mayangan, Tanjung Tiga and Blanakan villages). Data were analyzed using analytical methods of FISAT-II (FAO-ICLARM Stock Assessment Toool II)instruments. The results showed the growth of S. serrata male in Subang distric was positive allometric and the female was negative allometric. Growth coefficient (K) ranged from 0.21 to 0.43 in the estuary and from 0.28 to 0.89 in silvofishery area. Exploitation rate in the silvofishery area has been above the maximum exploitation rate. The size distribution of S. serrata in Subang district has the highest frequency at class interval of 106-110 mm (male) and of 101-105 mm. The samples of this study were 10 heads of mud crabs were taken from the Alue Naga waters Banda Aceh and taken to the Laboratory of Parasitology. Veterinary Medicine Faculty of Syiah Kuala University Banda Aceh to identify the take ectoparasites on mud crab (Scylla serrata) by observing the outer body of the organism, then noted bleeding, wounds or swelling and pay attention to the type of organism that is attached to the body of mud crab, then dredge the outer parts of the body like the carapace, foot path, foot pool and gills were take it and then tweezers and then putting the object glass that has been provided and observed with a microscope with 100 times magnification and see what kind of ectoparasites that have been found and then compare with the identification key. From the results of this study concluded that ectoparasites which infects mud crab (Scylla serrata) in the waters of Alue Naga Banda Aceh come from genus Chilodonella sp. Whichare predilections in the gills with a prevalence rate of 10%.

Penelitian ini mengenai kelimpahan dan karakteristik kepiting bakau pada ekosistem mangrove di Desa Busung Kabupaten Bintan Provinsi Kepulauan Riau. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat keterkaitan ekosistem mangrove terhadap kelimpahan dan karakteristik kepiting bakau di Desa Busung Kecamatan Sri Kuala Lobam Kabupaten Bintan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling sebanyak 9 titik menggunakan transek garis berukuran 10x10 meter. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu 2 jenis vegetasi mangrove Rhizopora apiculata dan Xylocarpus granatum. Nilai kerapatan pohon vegetasi mangrove jenis Rhizopora apiculata pada stasiun satu berjumlah 700 pohon/ha dan jenis Xylocarpus granatum berjumlah 1100 pohon/ha, pada lokasi penelitian stasiun dua vegetasi pohon mangrove jenis Rhizopora apiculata berjumlah 700 pohon/ha dan jenis Xylocarpus granatum berjumlah 900 pohon/ha, sedangkan pada lokasi penelitian stasiun tiga vegetasi pohon mangrove jenis Rhizopora apiculata berjumlah 1233 pohon/ha dan jenis Xylocarpus granatum berjumlah 300 pohon/ha. Kepiting bakau yang dijumpai pada lokasi penelitian yaitu jenis Scylla serrata dan Scylla paramamosain, jenis Scylla serrata ditemukan berjumlah 5 ekor sedangkan Scylla paramamosaian 18 ekor dengan jenis kelamin yang paling dominan jantan.

Salah satu sumberdaya perikanan di wilayah perairan Indonesia adalah kepiting bakau namun informasi mengenai keberadaan kepiting bakau khususnya jenis–jenisnya masih terbatas begitu juga pada wilayah perairan Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut perlu dilakukan identifikasi jenis morfologi kepiting bakau.Penelitian yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari-Februari 2011 ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis dan morfologi kepiting bakau, kelimpahan dan dominasi kepiting bakau, serta mengetahui nilai komersil kepiting bakau di wilayah Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah Sumatera Utara. Sampel yang diteliti adalah kepiting bakau yang didaratkan di 3 (tiga) TPI yaitu Desa Hajoran, Desa Poriaha dan Desa Sijago-jago Kabupaten Tapanuli Tengah. Kepiting yang tertangkap oleh nelayan diidentifikasi dan dilakukan pengukuran morfometrik kemudian menganalisis data yang didapatkan, dan wawancara nelayan untuk mengetahui berat komersil dan kisaran harga kepiting bakau tersebut. Jumlah spesies kepiting bakau yang ditemukan adalah 3 (tiga) spesies yaitu Scylla serrata (63.41%), Scylla olivacea (26.22 %), dan Scylla tranquebarica (10.37 %) dari sampel yang berjumlah 164 individu. Kepiting yang mendominasi adalah Scylla serrata. Kepiting bakau yang biasanya dipasarkan adalah kepiting yang memiliki berat ≥250 gram per ekor dengan harga Rp. 35.000/kg.

This study was initiated in response to a scarcity of data on the efficiency, selectivity and discard mortality of baited traps to target Scylla serrata. Five replicates of four traps, including “hoop nets”, rigid “wire pots”, and collapsible “round” and “rectangular” pots were deployed for 3, 6 and 24 h in two Australian estuaries. Trapped S. serrata were “discarded” into cages and monitored with controls over 3 d. All S. serrata were assessed for damage, while subsets of immediately caught and monitored individuals had haemolymph constituents quantified as stress indices. All traps retained similar-sized (8.1–19.1 cm carapace width) S. serrata, with catches positively correlated to deployment duration. Round pots were the most efficient for S. serrata and fish—mostly Acanthopagrus australis (3% mortality). Hoop nets were the least efficient and were often damaged. No S. serrata died, but 18% were wounded (biased towards hoop nets), typically involving a missing swimmeret. Physiological responses were mild and mostly affected by biological factors. The results validate discarding unwanted S. serrata for controlling exploitation, but larger mesh sizes or escape vents in pots and restrictions on hoop nets would minimise unnecessary catches, pollution and ghost fishing.

Scylla serrata is one of the dominant muddy crabs caught in Mantehage Island coastal waters, North Sulawesi. The study was aim to determine the temporal distribution of S. serrata condition i based on carapace length - weight relationship and its condition factors. Data carapace width and weight of muddy crabs collected by enumerators from Oktober 2014 to April 2015. The results showed that b value of male (2.219 – 2.835) and female (1.264-2.352) were significantly different (P<0.05). Male and female crabs have a negative allometric growth pattern with b value of males tend to be larger than females. Range of values for K and Kn male crabs longer than females that male crabs tend to be fatter. Temporal distribution of this mangrove crab condition factors is assumed to be related with the reproductive cycle. The value is increasing since October to a peak season in January which estimated related to a peak of the muddy crabs spawning season in Mantehage Island coastal waters. Hasil menunjukkan nilai b antara kepiting jantan (2,219 – 2,835) dan betina (1,264 - 2,352) berbeda nyata (P<0,05). Keduanya memiliki pola pertumbuhan allometrik negatif dengan nilai b kepiting jantan cenderung lebih besar dibandingkan betina. Kisaran nilai K dan Kn menunjukkan kepiting jantan lebih panjang dibandingkan betina sehingga kepiting jantan cenderung lebih gemuk. Sebaran faktor kondisi kepiting bakau diduga terkait dengan siklus reproduksinya. Nilai faktor kondisi meningkat sejak bulan Oktober 2014 hingga puncaknya pada bulan Januari 2015yang diduga pada saat tersebut merupakan puncak musim pemijahan kepiting bakau di perairan P. Kondisi ini meningkatkan eksploitasi penangkapan species ini sehingga menyebabkan terganggunya populasi kepiting di alam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui komposisi hasil tangkapan kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) dengan melihat rasio kelimpahan dan hubungan lebar - berat kepiting bakau jantan dan betina dari hasil tangkapan di perairan Mangkang Wetan – Tugu, Kota Semarang, Jawa Tengah. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada musim penghujan di akhir tahun 2018 (Desember) dan awal tahun 2019 (Januari). Purposive sampling merupakan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan melakukan survey yang terarah dan terencana. Sampel kepiting bakau didapatkan dari hasil tangkapan nelayan yang diarahkan pada lima titik berdasarkan aktivitas yang berbeda. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa tangkapan kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) pada Bulan Desember 2018 dan Januari 2019 di dominasi oleh kepiting jantan. Tangkapan bulan Desember 2018 memiliki rasio jantan : betina lebih besar (1,65:1) dari Januari 2019 (1,21:1). Korelasi lebar karapas dan berat kepiting bakau jantan dan betina bersifat allometrik, dimana jantan memiliki pola pertumbuhan allometrik positif sedangkan betina memiliki pola perumbuhan allometrik negatif. Dari data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa populasi kepiting jantan lebih banyak ditemukan selama musim penghujan terutama di bulan Desember dan Januari. Ketidak seimbangan sex rasio ini akan menyebabkan terganggunya kestabilan populasi Scylla setrata di ekosistem estuaria Mangkang Wetan Semarang. Scylla serrata known as mangrove crab as an edible food resources of the mangrove ecosystem which has a very high market demand. Due to this conditions will be affected in increasing exploitation of this species and cause inbalancing the population in the nature. The study aims to calculate abundance ratio and width – weight correlation between male and female of the crab caught from the estuary of Mangkang Wetan Semarang, Central Java. This study conducted at the end of 2018 (December) to the first month of 2019 (Januari). Survey method was used in this study by using purposive sampling in order to get the right data aimed as a planned. The crab sample was caught by some fisherman which were dirrected at five sampling points base on different fisherman activities. The results shows that the caught seasons in the rainy time of Dec 2018 and Jan 2019, dominated by males crab (Scylla serrata). The December caught have higher sex ratio between male and female (1,65:1) compare to Januari caught (1,21:1). Correlation in carapage width and body weigth between the crabs male and female shows allometrik growth. Where, the male growth tend to have a positive allometric, while the female were negative. These can be conclude that, the male crabs were dominantly found during rainy seasons especially in December dan January. This imbalance of the sex ratio will disturb the population stability of Scylla setrata in estuary ecosystem of Mangkang Wetan Semarang.

Pemerintah Desa Leksula menerapkan sasi katang balanga pada kawasan mangrove Teslatu-Tanjung Kabat. Sasi katang balanga adalah larangan menangkap katang balanga pada waktu tertentu dan cara untuk menghindari penangkapan katang balanga diluar waktu yang ditentukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan membandingkan populasi katang balanga di kawasan mangrove Teslatu-Tanjung Kabat dan Kamite Salehen dan mengetahui dampak sasi katang balanga bagi kehidupan katang balanga di Desa Leksula. Pengamatan katang balanga dan pencacahan individu per kelamin dilakukan menggunakan alat tangkap bubu, pada periode bulan terang dan gelap. Kelimpahan dan estimasi hasil penangkapan katang balanga dibandingkan menggunakan uji-t. Penerapan sasi katang balanga di kawasan mangrove Teslatu-Tanjung Kabat memberikan hasil tangkapan lebih baik. Genetic diversity is the determinant of the allocation of germplasm resources in the genetic improvement of aquaculture species. In this study, three F1 families, including a hybrid Scylla family (S. paramamosain ♂ × S. serrata ♀), a paternal family of S. paramamosain, a maternal family of S. serrata, and two wild populations, including a paternal population of S. paramamosain and a maternal population of S. serrata, were used to investigate the genetic diversity and genetic difference. The results indicated that 98 alleles of nine microsatellites loci were observed in five Scylla populations. The highest average value of Ho (observed heterozygosity), He (expected heterozygosity), and PIC (polymorphic information content) of the wild S. paramamosain population were 0.790, 0.799, and 0.771, respectively, suggesting the wild paternal population has high genetic diversity. The comparative analysis of PIC, Fst (fixation index), and HWE (Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium) indicated that the paternal S. paramamosain may be more suitable for artificial breeding than the maternal S. serrata from the perspective of allele frequency. Analysis of molecular variance analysis (AMOVA) showed that the total genetic variation mainly occurred within populations (73.28%), demonstrating that artificial breeding may induce genetic differentiation of the family groups of Scylla. The results of the analysis of Fst value, UPGMA (unweighted pair-group mean analysis) dendrogram, and genetic diversity indicated that the F1 hybrid offspring had a close genetic distance and high genetic identity with the paternal S. paramamosain populations. It indicated that the F1 hybrid offspring showed potential paternal genetic affinities and a similar potential for artificial breeding with S. paramamosain. The study will provide valuable information to evaluate the difference in the genetic diversity and population structure between hybrid offspring and distinct parental populations of Scylla.

Biodiversitas 18: 1316-1323. The mud crab, Scylla serrata lives associated with mangrove ecosystems and is widely distributed in the Indo West-Pacific. The present work was aimed to reveal the carapace length/width-weight relationships of Scylla serrata in two mangrove ecosystem area of Bulungan District, North Kalimantan- Indonesia, i.e. Kahayan Delta and Tibi Island. The crabs were collected by using ambau pancang (trap) for two months from November to December 2016. A total of 522 individuals were collected and their carapace length, carapace width, and weight were measured. The sex ratio of total collected samples (male to female) was 1:0.79. Carapace length and width of S. serrata caught in these two study area ranged from 40 to 89 mm for male; 32 to 91 mm for female and 59 to 128 mm for male; 53 to 122 mm for female, respectively. The carapace length-weight relationships of total samples showed logarithmic equations as follow: W = -3.2194 + 2.9725 Log CL for male and Log W = -2.2010 + 2.3750 Log CL for female. While the carapace width-weight relationships are as follow: W = -3.9162 + 3.1012 Log CW for male and Log W = -2.6001 + 2.3968 Log CW for female. The b values of carapace width-weight relationship indicated that the growth pattern of male was positive allometric and female was negative allometric. Size frequency of crab population is also presented.

This study was centered around the phylogenetic of mud crab genus Scylla collected across Malaysia based on a 542 base pairs (bp) section of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) from 201 individuals. Sampling locations were nine areas including one location from Borneo (Sabah and Sarawak). The Maximum Parsimony (MP) and Neighbor-Joining (NJ) methods was conducted for phylogenetic analysis and performed in MEGA ver. 5.05. We found that S. olivacea is the plenteous species collected with 111 individuals, followed by S. tranquebarica with 61 individuals. Scylla paramamosain is barely found throughout our sampling locations with only 29 individuals caught in this study. Regrettably, no wild samples of S. serrata was found during our sampling occasions, accordingly life specimens were purchased from restaurants to complete the analysis. Both MP and NJ phylogenetic trees shows a monophyletic relationships among all four species within genus Scylla included in this study. This was also supported by the genetic distance analysis based on Tamura-Nei which indicates that there is high interspecific and low intraspecific genetic distances among and within species of Scylla included in the analysis. This investigation divulged a solid proof that supports the occurrence of three species of Scylla with the nonappearance of S. serrata in Malaysian waters. This current investigations could serve as a guidance for promoting further assessment on aquaculture and conservation management for the species.

This study aims to identify the types of pathogenic bacteria in mangrove crabs (Scylla serrata) and determine the health condition of mud crabs (Scylla serrata) at farm supply in South Kalimantan Province. The research method used is a case study, with sampling of mangrove crabs by purposive sampling at the farm supplier by considering the form supplier is already a legal entity, is still active in shipping and the frequency of shipments is quite a lot as well as continuous delivery to domestic and export destinations. For locations, sampling of mangrove crabs (Scylla serrata) was carried out at 3 (three) farm suppliers, namely CV. ACS in Banjarbaru City, CV. Three A's in Banjar Regency and UD. SLM in Banjarbaru City. For bacterial examination, it was repeated three times with the number of crab samples adjusted to the delivery population at the time of the study. The results showed that 15 mud crabs were infected with the pathogenic bacteria Plesiomonas sp (42%) followed by Actinobacillus sp. (39%), Vibrio sp. (16%) and Moraxella sp. (3%). The most common type of pathogenic bacteria infecting the farm supplier CV. ACS is a type of Actinobacillus sp. as many as 5 tails, while on the farm supplier CV. Three A are Plesiomonas sp. and Actinobacillus sp each as many as 5 tails and on farm supplier UD. SLM is a type of Plesiomonas sp as many as 6 tails. The condition of the mud crab (Scylla serrata) is declared physically healthy with the characteristics when the swimming legs are pulled away from the carapace and then released, the legs move quickly to their original position, the eye stalks are very responsive, that is, they enter the orbital area when touched, the mouth does not release foam, color The carapace is bright and does not have a bad smell and there are no pathogenic bacteria found in mud crabs that are harmful to the human body or safe for consumption.

Desa Warwut merupakan salah satu perairan laut yang menjadi daerah penagkapan S. serrata dalam jumlah yang besar di Kabupaten Maluku Tenggara. Tujuan penelitian mengetahui morfometrik karapas, pola pertumbuhannya dan faktor kondisi ekologi S. serrata di perairan Desa Warwut Kabupaten Maluku Tenggara. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode survai dengan teknik pengambilan sampel berdasarkan ukuran. Keseluruhan sampel kepiting S. serrata yang diukur dalam penelitian berjumlah 32 ekor, dan terdiri atas 16 kelompok ukuran kepiting S. serrata. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan uji t dan uji regresi. Hasil analisis menujukan morfometrik karapas dari S. serrata dengan persamaan W = 0.375L-0.117 dengan korelasi R2 0.072, nilai korelasi S. serrata menunjukan nilai korelasi positif, dan faktor kondisi yang terdapat pada perairan Desa Warwut berkisar antara 1.1969 – 2.1970. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemberian pakan segar berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan kepiting bakau Scylla Serrata. Terdapat 3 perlakuan pakan segar yaitu keong bakau (perlakuan A), kepala ikan cakalang (perelakuan B), campuran keong bakau dan kepala ikan cakalang (perlakuan C) sebanyak 27 ekor kepiting bakau (bobot awal 70-80 gram) dipelihara selama 45 hari dengan frekuensi pemberian pakan 2 kali sehari. Parameter yang diamati adalah pertumbuhan mutlak, laju pertumbuhan spesifik (LPS), panjang dan lebar karapaks, serta tinggkat kelangsungan hidup S Serrata. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukan perlakuan pakan yang berbeda memberikan hasil yang tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap nilai pertumbuhan mutlak bobot dan panjang karapaks, laju pertumbuhan spesifik dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pertumbuhan mutlak perlakuan A, B, dan C masing-masing sebesar 23,0 g, 20,09 g dan 16,0 g. Untuk tingkat kelangsungan hidup S serrata yang diberikan pada pakan berbeda sebesar 78-100%. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa pemberian keong bakau segar dan kepala ikan segar atau campuran keduanya dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan kepiting bakau Scylla serrata.Kata Kunci: Kepiting Bakau, Pertumbuhan, Keong bakau, dan Kepala Ikan

Research on the characteristics of Mangrove Crab Habit (Scylla sp) in Silang Cadek Mangrove Ecosystem, Baitussalam Subdistrict, Aceh Besar District, Aceh Province. This study aims to determine the habitat characteristics of Mangrove Crab (Scylla sp) in the Mangrove Ecosystem of Silang Cadek. The research method is survey with purposive sampling technique. The results of the survey are described. The results of the research showed that the water temperature data ranged from 22 s.d 25°C, the pH ranged from 7.5 to 7.7, the water salinity ranged from 30‰ -34‰. Substrate loamy sand, sandy loam, sandy clay loam. There are 4 constituent species of mangrove plants namely Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Rhizopora stylosa, Rhizopora apiculata, Avicennia marina. Macrozoobenthos found were Nerita lineata, Uca crassipes, Terebralia palustris, Terebralia sulcata, Isognomon ephippium, Saccostrea cucculata, Uca demani, Scylla serrata, Scylla olivacea, Scylla paramamosain.

Mud crabs (Scylla serrata and S. olivacea) are important fisheries resources, but their population in nature is decreasing due to anthropogenic activities, like the deforestation of mangrove forests. Hence, it is crucial to conserve this marine biota for future sustainable use and to conserve our marine biodiversity. Conducting studies on the biological interactions of mud crabs in mangrove habitats can be one of the future conservation approaches. Accordingly, an analysis of the functional relationships between Scylla spp. abundance and the respective mangrove habitat have to be carried out. The research was conducted in the mangrove ecosystem of Bee Jay Bakau Resort Probolinggo (BJBR). Data were collected using line transects and quadrant transects. The Associations between mangroves and mud crab habitat structures were analyzed using the Correspondence Analysis (CA) method. The results show that the relationship matrix between Scylla spp. and the structure of the mangrove habitat is centered on the F1 and F2 factorial axes (89.22%). S. serrata of all size classes were associated with dense mangroves (≥15 trees per 100m2) and high salinities (3-4 ppt), while S. olivacea has shown to be associated with rare to very dense mangrove systems. It indicates that S. olivacea tends to have a higher adaptation rate than S. serrata in this mangrove system. This study will provide information and recommendation for the conservation management of mud crabs and mangrove ecosystems to conserve marine biodiversity.

Pertumbuhan merupakan salah satu indicator dalam budidaya perikanan yang dilakukan dalam suatu kurun waktu, didalam budidaya perikanan terdapat syarat-syarat budidaya yang harus terpenuhi dengan baik, diantaranya adalah lingkungan perairan yang baik (kualitas air yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan ikan yang dibudidayakan), pakan yang diberikan sesuai, dan ikan yang dibudidayakan. Kepiting bakau (Scylla Serrata) merupakan salah satu komoditas perikanan yang bernilai ekonomis penting dan bernilai tinggi baik di pasaran. Salah satu faktor yang menunjang keberhasilan budidaya kepiting adalah ketersediaan pakan. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui frekuensi pemberian pakan yang optimal terhadap pertumbuhan kepiting bakau (Scylla Serrata). Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental dengan 4 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Pada perlakuan 1 dengan frekuensi 2x sehari, perlakuan 2 dengan frekuensi 3x sehari, pada perlakuan 3 dengan frekuensi 4x sehari, pada perlakuan 4 dengan frekuensi 5x sehari. Hasil dari perlakuan tersebut berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap kelangsungan hidup, laju pertumbuhan harian, efisiensi pakan, pertambahan berat mutlak, pertambahan panjang mutlak, sedangkan untuk parameter sintasan menunjukkan hasil yang tidak berpengaruh nyata. Laju pertumbuhan harian tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan 3 sebesar 12,47%, Pertambahan berat mutlak tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan 3 sebesar 3,00 gr. Selanjutnya pada parameter pertambahan panjang mutlak yang tertinggi juga pada perlakuan 1 sebesar 4,22 cm. Kemudian pada parameter efisiensi pakan menunjukkanhasil yang paling baik adalah pada perlakuan 2 dengan EP sebesar 61,70. Dari hasil tersebut dapat dinyatakan bahwa frekuensi pemberian pakan, memberikan pengaruh tidak nyata terhadap pertumbuhan kepiting bakau (Scylla Serrata).

The cultivation of mud crabs is growing to get crabs in the soft shell condition. But most of the soft shell crab's farmers do not experience sustainable business. The main obstacle is the length of the maintenance period and moulting time does not unison thereby causing the feed and operating costs to be high. The research aimed to examine the effect of injection with forest fern leaf extract on growth rate and moulting speed of mangrove crabs (Scylla serrata) and determine the best dose in the process of injecting forest Fern Leaf extract for mangrove crab (Scylla serrata). Treatment of mangrove crab (Scylla serrata) weight ± 100 g with dose: P1 (NaCL 0.9%) P2 (50 mg.L-1) P3 (75 mg.L-1) P4 (100 mg.L-1) P5 (125 mg.L-1) 5 crabs each are cared for 30 days, The research was conducted using a single complete random draft (RAL), the results of various analyses showed the significant forest fern leaf extract against the growth of absolute weights, the rate of Specific growth, and relative growth, but no noticeable effect for molting speed and absolute length growth. The results of this research showed that a dose of 125 mg.L-1produces the highest value with result for moulting speed of 0.50 ± 0.57, length absolute growth of 0.37 ± 0.1 weighted absolute growth of 20 ± 5,74, specific growth rate of 0.54 ± 0.13, and relative growth of 0.64 ± 0.18.

Ranching, stock enhancement and restocking are management approaches involving the release of wild or hatchery-bred organisms to enhance, conserve or restore fisheries. The present study, conducted from April 2002 to November 2005, evaluated the effectiveness of releasing wild and hatchery-reared (HR) mud crabs in the mangroves of Ibajay, Aklan, Philippines where preliminary studies demonstrated declining fishery yields, abundance and size of crabs. Comparison of survival and growth of wild-released and HR Scylla olivacea and HR Scylla serrata demonstrated the effect of nursery conditioning, size-at-release and species differences. Overall yield and catch per unit effort (CPUE) increased by 46% after stock enhancement trials. Recapture rates of released crabs were highest in wild-released S. olivacea and in crabs measuring 65.0–69.9 mm carapace width (CW) and lowest in non-conditioned HR S. serrata. Growth rates were highest for conditioned HR S. olivacea and lowest for conditioned HR S. serrata (11.7 and 3.7 mm month–1 respectively). Fishing mortality was highest for S. olivacea, whereas natural mortality was greater for S. serrata. Conditioning hatchery-bred animals before release is also important in obtaining higher survival. S. olivacea was the more appropriate of the two species for release in mangrove habitats inundated with low-salinity water. However, there is a need for site-specific studies to evaluate the effectiveness of releases.

Peningkatan permintaan Kepiting Bakau dapat menyebabkan terganggunya populasi kepiting di alam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji biomorfometrik Kepiting Bakau (Scylla sp.) yang meliputi ukuran lebar karapas Kepiting Bakau, hubungan lebar karapas dan berat, nisbah kelamin, faktor kondisi dan tingkat kematangan gonad Kepiting Bakau di perairan Bandengan Kendal pada November 2018 sampai Februari 2019. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif eksploratif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, bahwa jumlah Kepiting Bakau yang diamati sebanyak 1914 ekor, terdiri atas 897 betina dan 1017 jantan, terdapat empat spesies Kepiting Bakau yang tertangkap di perairan Bandengan Kendal, yaitu Scylla serrata, Scylla tranquebarica, Scylla paramamosain dan Scylla olivacea, perbandingan betina dan jantan 1:1,19. Ukuran lebar karapas berkisar antara 43,75-165,5 mm dengan berat berkisar antara 23-660 g. Hubungan lebar karapas dengan berat bersifat allometrik negatif. Nilai faktor kondisi yang didapatkan berkisar 1,66–1,189. Tingkat kematangan gonad kepiting betina didominasi oleh TKG I dan II, pada bulan November 2018 – Februari 2019 di perairan Bandengan Kendal belum terjadi masa puncak pemijahan. Which include the size of the width of the Mud Crab carapace, the relationship between carapace width and weight, sex ratio, condition factors and the level of maturity of the Mud Crab in Bandengan Kendal waters from November 2018 to February 2019. The descriptive explorative methods was used in this research. The results showed that the number of mud crabs caught from November 2018 to February 2019 was 1914, consisting of 897 females and 1017 males, there were four species of mud crabs caught in Kendal Bandengan waters, namely Scylla serrata, Scylla tranquebarica, Scylla paramamosain and Scylla olivacea, comparison of females and males 1: 1,19. Carapace widths range from 43.75 - 165.5 mm with weights ranging from 23 - 660 g. The relationship between carapace width and weight are negative allometric. The obtained condition factor values range from 1.66 - 1.189. The maturity level of female crab gonads are dominated by TKG I and II, thus it is suspected that in November 2018 - February 2019 in the waters of Bandengan Kendal, the spawning peak has not yet occurred.

The methods of isolating chitosan from different sources: shrimp (Panaeus monodon), crab (Scylla olivicea and Scylla serrata), locust (Schistocerca gregaria), honeybee (Apis mellifera), beelte (Calosoma rugosa) and fish (Labeo rohita) were compared. The same steps of demineralization and deproteinization were followed for the chemical extraction of chitin, but the concentration of reagents, the temperatures and reaction times were varied, which resulted in chitosans with different degrees of deacetylation.

The mangrove crabs (Scylla serrata) sampling location was implemented within three sampling sites in the Krueng Cut estuary, Gampong Alue Naga, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh. Histopathological analysis was carried out in the histology laboratory, Syiah Kuala University. The results showed that there were changes in the hepatopancreas in the form of irregular lumen star shape, the formation of vacuoles and basophilic hypertrophy. These hepatopancreas changes were assumed due to water pollution generated by anthropogenic activities from local settlements and household industries. Therefore, it is suggested to conduct further research regarding water quality parameters and heavy metal concentration within this sampling area.

The biochemical composition (proteins, lipid, ash and moisture) of different parts of the body (gill, meat, egg) of fattened and natural mud crab Scylla serrata was determined. Twenty four samples of S. serrata (12 from wild & 12 from fattening farm) of different sizes and sexes (half of the sample is male) were used in this study. The mean protein and lipid contents are significantly (p<0.05) higher in fattened crabs than natural in natural crabs regardless of size and sexes. Moisture and ash were higher in natural crab than in fattened ones. The highest and lowest moisture content was noticed in gills and eggs in both natural and fattened crabs. Protein and lipid contents were comparatively higher in eggs than in other body parts. Female crabs contained high protein and lipid than males in both natural and fattened crabs. From the results of this study it may considered that fattened crab might be comparatively superior to natural crabs as they appear to provide higher levels of protein and fat for human nutrition. A precise analytical method was established for rapid screening of 49 antibiotic residues in aquatic products by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-QToFMS). The quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe (QuEChERS) process was refined for effective sample preparation. The homogenized samples of aquatic products were extracted with 3% acetic acid in acetonitrile, salted out with anhydrous magnesium sulfate and sodium chloride, and cleaned up by octadecylsilane (C18) and primary-secondary amine (PSA) powder. Then, the purified samples were separated on a BEH C18 column using 0.1% formic acid and methanol as mobile phases by gradient elution, detected by MS under positive Electron Spray Ionization (ESI+) mode. The linear range of matrix-matched calibration curve was 1–100 μg/L for each compound with the correlation coefficients in the range of 0.9851–0.9999. The recoveries of target antibiotics at the different spiked levels ranged from 60.2% to 117.9% except for lincomycin hydrochloride, whereas relative standard deviations (RSDs) were between 1.6% and 14.0% except for sulfaguanidine in grass Carp, Penaeus vannamei and Scylla serrata matrices. The limits of detection (LODs) (S/N = 3) for the analytes were 0.05–2.40 μg/kg, 0.08–2.00 μg/kg and 0.10–2.27 μg/kg and the limits of quantification (LOQs) (S/N = 10) were 0.16–8.00 μg/kg, 0.25–6.66 μg/kg and 0.32–7.56 μg/kg in grass Carp, Penaeus vannamei and Scylla serrata, respectively. The method was successfully applied to grass Carp, Penaeus vannamei and Scylla serrata, demonstrating its ability for the determination of multi-categories antibiotic residues in aquatic products.

Mud crab (Scylla serrata) burrows in an estuarine mangrove intertidal zone were identified as potential microhabitats for small fishes. The pool-like habitats, created by these burrows, were sampled for fishes during nocturnal and diurnal low tide events, over the new moon period. A total of 1103 fish, comprising a single gobiid species (Redigobius dewaali), were collected from eight burrow-pools. The utilisation of these burrow-pools by large numbers of a single ichthyofaunal species suggests that there is a degree of commensalism between S. serrata and R. dewaali in these intertidal habitats.

Kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) memiliki nilai ekonomis tinggi. Kebutuhan kepiting bakau selalu meningkat sehingga perlu diupayakan budidaya kepiting bakau secara intensif. Salah satu perkembangan teknologi dalam budidaya perikanan untuk meningkatkan produksi kepiting bakau adalah produksi kepiting cangkang lunak. Kepiting cangkang lunak merupakan kepiting fase ganti kulit (molting) yang mempunyai keunggulan cangkangnya lunak sehingga dapat dikonsumsi secara utuh. Untuk mempercepat kepiting molting diperlukan berbagai rangsangan yang salah satunya adalah menggunakan metode mutilasi. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui perbedaan lama waktu molting dan pertumbuhan berat kepiting bakau dengan menggunakan metode mutilasi pada kaki jalan dan capit. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode eksperimental dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari empat perlakuan, yaitu mutilasi kaki jalan dan capit, semua kaki jalan, capit, dan alami. Biota yang digunakan berjumlah 40 ekor dengan 10 kali ulangan tiap perlakuan. Data yang diperoleh berupa lama waktu molting serta pertambahan berat mutlak kepiting bakau yang dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik parametrik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan metode mutilasi berpengaruh terhadap lama waktu molting dengan waktu molting tercepat pada perlakuan mutilasi kaki jalan dan capit rata-rata 13 hari. Metode mutilasi tidak berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan berat mutlak dengan nilai tertinggi pada kepiting perlakuan alami sebesar 53,30 gram. Mud crabs (Scylla serrata) are known to have a high economic value. The increasing demand of mud crabs for consumption rxcequires higher production. Therefore, mud crabs need to be cultivated intensively. One of the methods to improve the values of mud crabs’ aquaculture is by producing soft-shell crabs. Soft-shell crabs are produced during molting phase in which the crab shed it’s exoskeleton in order to grow. In the fisheries industry, the soft-shell crabs are considered to be more valuable as it can be consumed as a whole. Accelerating the production of molting crabs, requires stimulus. One of the methods is mutilation. The aim of this study is to estimate the periods required for molting under different treatments, as well as calculating the increase of total weight of molting crabs.. The method used was an experimental method which contained four treatments. The treatments are mutilation of walking legs and claws, all of walking legs, claws, and no mutilation. The number of crabs used was 40 with 10 replications per treatment. The data obtained in the period of molting and the increase of total weight of the mud crabs were analyzed using ANOVA. The result shows that mutilation affects the period of crab’s molting in which the fastest molting (13 days on average) occurred after mutilation of walking legs and claws. This mutilation method does not influence the increase of total weight and the highest value is showed in non-treated group with the increase of 53,30 grams in weight.

Mud crab is one of fishery commodities which is important in Indonesia . The high demand for mud crabs needs to be balanced with the right management strategy, so that the population will not extinction. Penikel Village, Cilacap is one of the fishing villages which catch mud crabs because of the high demand in the big cities such as Jakarta, Bandung and Bali. The purpose of this study is to determine the population and growth patterns of mud crabs in the Panikel Village, Kampung Laut District, Cilacap. The location of the study was determined by purposive sampling. Wadong and bubu are fishing tools to catch mud crabs. Sampling 67 mud crabs was carried out on Juni 2016, after that, measurement of length, carapace width and total weight were carried out. Regression analysis between carapace width and total weight and condition factors were carried out to determine growth patterns. Based on the research, the average value of the S. serrata length was 63.94±11.31 mm while the female one was 70.29±14.57 mm. The average value of carapace width is 92.28±15.51 mm (male) while for female sex was 98.71±18.38 mm. The average weight of S. serrata male crabs was 190.31±118.43 mm, while those of female sex were 210.77±120.93 mm. Furthermore, based on the analysis of the relationship between the length of weight found negative allomatric growth pattern with the value of the condition factor included in the low category both for male sex 0.73-1.93 and for female sex 0.59-1.66. The low condition factor shows that the condition of Segara Anakan waters especially Penikel Village does not support the growth of mud crabs (S. serrata). Kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) merupakan salah satu komoditas perikanan yang terpenting di Indonesia. Besarnya permintaan kepiting bakau yang tinggi perlu diimbangi dengan strategi pengelolaan yang tepat agar populasi tidak punah. Desa Penikel, Cilacap merupakan satu desa nelayan yang banyak menangkap kepiting bakau karena tingginya permintaan di kota besar seperti Jakarta, Bandung dan Bali. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui populasi dan pola pertumbuhan kepiting bakau di Desa Panikel, Kecamatan Kampung Laut, Cilacap. Penentuan lokasi penelitian dilakukan secara purposive sampling. Wadong dan bubu merupakan alat tangkap untuk menangkap kepiting bakau. Pengambilan sampel kepiting sebanyak 67 individu dilakukan pada bulan Juni 2016, setelah itu dilakukan pengukuran panjang, lebar karapas serta berat total. Analisa regresi kurva antara lebar karapas dan berat total serta faktor kondisi dilakukan untuk mengetahui pola pertumbuhan. Berdasarkan penelitian diperoleh nilai rata-rata panjang kepiting bakau S. serrta jantan adalah 63.94±11.31 mm sedang untuk yang betina adalah 70,29±14.57 mm. Nilai rata-rata lebar karapas adalah 92.28±15.51 mm (jantan) sedang untuk jenis kelamin betina adalah 98.71±18.38 mm. Rata-rata berat kepiting jantan S. serrata adalah 190.31±118.43 mm, sedangkan yang jenis kelamin betina adalah 210.77±120.93 mm. Selanjutnya berdasarkan analisa hubungan panjang berat ditemukan pola pertumbuhan allomatrik negatif dengan nilai factor kondisi termasuk dalam katagori rendah baik untuk jenis kelamin jantan 0,73–1,93 maupun untuk kelamin betina 0,59–1,66. Rendahnya factor kondisi menunjukkan bahwa kondisi perairan Segara Anakan khususnya Desa Penikel tidak menunjang bagi petumbuhan kepiting bakau (S. serrata).

Meningkatnya permintaan kepiting untuk ekspor terutama disebabkan kelezatan dan kandungan gizi dagingnya. Namun pada umumnya masih berasal dari hasil tangkapan dari alam, oleh karenanya peningkatan teknologi budidaya sangat penting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis kelamin, jenis pakan dan metode pembesaran terhadap pertumbuhan kepiting.Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimental, dalam menganalisis pengaruh variable menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan pola faktorial 2x2x3. Laju pertumbuhan mutlak dan pertambahan berat diukur setiap minggu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepiting jantan dipelihara secara individu dengan pakan ikan mempunyai pertumbuhan mutlak tertinggi yaitu 1,07 g.hari-1 dan pertambahan berat (weight gain) tertinggi pula yaitu 84,73%. Pemeliharaan massal, kepiting betina dengan pakan ikan rucah memiliki laju pertumbuhan mutlak tertinggi yaitu 0,80 g.hari-1. Sedangkan weight gain tertinggi diperoleh pada kepiting jantan yang diberi pakan ikan yaitu 52,03%. Anova tes menunjukkan pengaruh jenis kelamin dan interaksinya berbeda nyata. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhan kepiting dengan pakan ikan rucah lebih tinggi dibandingkan kepiting dengan pakan kerang dan campuran dari ikan dan kerang. Kepiting jantan yang dipelihara secara individu diberi pakan ikan rucah tumbuh lebih baik dibandingkan kepiting betina. Pertumbuhan Kepiting betina yang dipelihara secara massal dan diberi pakan ikan rucah memiliki peertumbuhan paling tinggi. Kata kunci: pertumbuhan, jenis kelamin, pakan alami, Scylla serrata, wadah pemeliharaan The increase of the export demand of crabs (Scylla serrata), among others caused by the good taste and have a very high nutrition value, but most of the crab still collected by fishing of natural stock. Therefore, technology of crabs culture should be enhanced. This research was aiming to understand the influence of sexual, feeding regime, environmental factors to the growth rate. This research was conducted experimentally using the randomized block design with factorial pattern 2x2x3. The growth rate and weight gain were measured weekly. The results show that male crab reared in individual aquarium fed by mixed fish revealed the quickest ultimate growth rate i.e. 1.07 g.day-1, as well as achieving the highest weight gain i.e. 84.73%. While in mass rearing method, female crab fed by mixed fish achieved the highest ultimate growth rate ie. 0.8 g.day-1, and the highest weight gain achieved in male crab fed by mixed fish i.e. 52.03%. Anova test reveal that sexual factor and it’s interaction was significantly different. The research conclude that the growth of the crab fed by mixed fish was higher than those fed by bivalve meat or combination of mixed fish with bivalve meat; male crab reared individually and fed with mixed fish revealed has higher growth rate then the female crab; and the growth rate of female crab reared in a mass and fed by mixed fish revealed the highest growth rate.
