This paper deals with kinematic pairs in the most general sense, and, in particular, with those used in gear design. The paper begins with a brief overview of the earlier performed research in the field. Different kinds of kinematic pairs are distinguished, namely, point-contact kinematic pairs, line-contact kinematic pairs, and surface-to-surface-contact kinematic pairs. Contact geometry of functional surfaces in kinematic pairs is involved into the analysis aiming more in detail analysis of design, and the development of a scientific classification of kinematic pairs. A scientific classification of all possible kinds of kinematic pairs is developed. All known designs of kinematic pairs are covered by the classification. Moreover, kinematic pairs of all notknown yet designs are also covered by the classification. This means that the proposed classification of kinematic pairs possesses predictive properties.

Streszczenie:
The scientific publishing industry is dominated by a few publishers that use centralized systems, which decrease the quality of studies and make the publication process longer. Traditional publication systems generally have high publication costs, slow and biased review processes, copyrights held by publishers, lack of rewards for contributors, lack of connection among researchers, etc. Accordingly, we propose a decentralized blockchain-based scientific publication platform to eliminate the traditional publication system deficiencies. The proposed system uses Ethereum smart contracts to accelerate the publication process and abate the biased evaluation process while reducing the publication cost. The proposed model also improves the quality of scientific studies by adding new features to the publication process. The proposed system increases the number of publishers, makes the publication process fully traceable, and makes scientific papers globally available to anyone with a small fee. In addition, the system provides journals with decentralized models and integrates scientific papers with related data or datasets. The editors, reviewers, and cited authors are also rewarded. The proposed system has been implemented using Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), which consists of a front-end, middleware, and back-end. When an author submits a manuscript for evaluation, the system automatically finds the most appropriate editors and reviewers for related fields. After the publication process finishes, editors, reviewers, cited authors, and other contributors are rewarded as a system token-based cryptocurrency.

Aim: To share a novel corona treatment method that is effective on patients with the scientific community. Introduction: The new corona infection has caused a different fear all over the world, and many studies have been conducted to prolong the lives of patients who die from complications or while being treated. Materials & Methods: Among the 2000 patients who were admitted to the service(500), outpatient clinic(1420) and hospitalized in intensive care (80), 147 patients who were examined naively during the period 1.2.2021-1.4.2021 were included in the study cross-sectionally. Patients at risk of death in intensive care and pre-treatment protocols at varying rates depending on the different age. Regarding the diagnosis and treatment of the disease; Since it is known that even the effects of drugs that cause complications cause human death, it was prioritized to make the treatment plan accordingly and pay attention to the complications of these treatments. The patient, whose problems with hydroxychloroquine, favipiravir and other protocols are recovering, can lead to lung edema, intubation in the intensive care unit and subsequent death. Although the complications and mortality rate of the disease is not more than influenza, it seems possible to prevent some of the deaths. The age of patients’ distrubition 5 from 94 years old, avarage age 42 years old. drugs used in treatment planning, D vitamins single dose and zinc , tigacycline , vancomycin (renal function controlled), meropenem 1 gr (renal function controlled),enoxaparin (renal function controlled) pantoprasol , 4 gr ascorbic acid will be infused, dexamethasone , budesonide. If there is an increase in the response to antibiotherapy, ivermectine therapy, tocilisumab treatment should be added without delay. tocilisumab therapy ; tocilisumab and ivermectine treatment of patients will be consideredaccording to crp decrease. Result: The patient is treated and remains normal for three days, the patient can be discharged. There was no need for tocilizumab treatment on the patients did not use favipiravir treatment among were followed up. Longest treatment protocol is completed 21 days; shortest treatment protocol is completed 3 days. No additional complications were encountered in 800 cases treated and patient follow up completed. Discussion: While researching different treatment protocols in a new viral infection, it is a wrong practice to try new drugs rather than to cure the patients. Trying to treat patients with medications that have not been followed up and tried clearly makes more harm than normal. For this reason, it preparing protocols with known drugsare vital and not to use experimental antivirals (favipiravir, remdesivir, oseltamivir etc) that did not work in previous outbreaks.

Popular literature occupies a significant part of the publishing market in Egypt and has had quite a large group of admirers for many decades. It is noteworthy that, in this sector, the series of Egyptian pocket stories published by the Modern Arab Association occupy a special position. It should be noted that the authors of the stories are heavily inspired by the latest scientific discoveries in many fields. In their works, medical facts, advanced technologies and genetic engineering not only set the background for the adventures of the characters, but are often the key elements of the plot and literary composition, as shown in this article.

An academic scientist’s professional success depends on publishing. Publishing norms emphasize novel, positive results. As such, disciplinary incentives encourage design, analysis, and reporting decisions that elicit positive results and ignore negative results. Prior reports demonstrate how these incentives inflate the rate of false effects in published science. When incentives favor novelty over replication, false results persist in the literature unchallenged, reducing efficiency in knowledge accumulation. Previous suggestions to address this problem are unlikely to be effective. For example, a journal of negative results publishes otherwise unpublishable reports. This enshrines the low status of the journal and its content. The persistence of false findings can be meliorated with strategies that make the fundamental but abstract accuracy motive—getting it right—competitive with the more tangible and concrete incentive—getting it published. This article develops strategies for improving scientific practices and knowledge accumulation that account for ordinary human motivations and biases.

Margaret Atwood’s science/speculative dystopian MaddAddam trilogy—Oryx and Crake (2003), The Year of the Flood (2009), and MaddAddam (2013)—opens up questions about how genre-mixing indexes and probes interrelated notions of authenticity. This focus is prompted by the simple question of why Atwood, having established worldwide renown for realist novels of socio-historical authenticity, switched to blending realism with science/speculative fiction. Through analyzing how the trilogy departs from realism, while never truly embracing SF, the paper argues that while the realist novel may offer the strongest representations of authentic psychological states, larger questions of epistemic authority and the state of our world demand a literature that authenticates knowledge. The MaddAddam trilogy challenges the notion that realism’s social, existential and moral concerns are more authentic when supported with a scientific explanatory logic. Authenticity is thus found in a negotiation between Truth and whether to trust in the locations (social and geographical, literary and literal) of knowledge.

A truly interdisdplinary approach to the topic of human enhancement requires input not only from the natural and social sciences, but also from the humanities. This interaction involves the reading of literary texts that raise retevant questions. H. G. Wells' The Island of Doctor Moreau is a text that artistically explores interspecies experimentation for the creation of chimeras. By examining the novel in relation to chimeras of ancient literary myth and their correlative scientific manifestations, important questions arid fresh insights may be gained, contributing to the conversation at large. Interdisciplinary aporoaches receive affirmatton increasingly among supporters of higher education, scientific experimentatton, and human enhancement, including Nick Bostrom, a leader in the transhumanist movement However, Brostom's rhetoric betrays itself and highlights the relevance of an authentic interdisciplinary interface drawing on the humanities and even science fiction.

Despite their centrality to the scientific enterprise, both the nature of scientific variables and their relation to inductive inference remain obscure. I suggest that scientific variables should be viewed as equivalence classes of sets of physical states mapped to representations (often real numbers) in a structure preserving fashion, and argue that most scientific variables introduced to expand the degrees of freedom in terms of which we describe the world can be seen as products of an algorithmic inductive inference first identified by William W. Rozeboom. This inference algorithm depends upon a notion of natural kind previously left unexplicated. By appealing to dynamical kinds—equivalence classes of causal system characterized by the interventions which commute with their time evolution—to fill this gap, we attain a complete algorithm. I demonstrate the efficacy of this algorithm in a series of experiments involving the percolation of water through granular soils that result in the induction of three novel variables. Finally, I argue that variables obtained through this sort of inductive inference are guaranteed to satisfy a variety of norms that in turn suit them for use in further scientific inferences.

ABSTRACT: Sami Tchak is renowned for his novels that skillfully blend elements of literature and research, creating a fictionalized portrayal of both worlds. While commentators have examined various aspects of Tchak's work, none have explored the connection between literature and social sciences in his novels through their shared element, the book. This article demonstrates how his novel Le continent du Tout et du presque Rien (2021) aims to dismantle the assumed boundaries between form and content, reality and fiction, scientific discourse and literary expression. Through the fictionalization of ethnology books and African novels, it challenges preconceived notions, revealing the scientific elements within literary discourse and the literary aspects within scientific discourse. The novel combines a genealogical approach, addressing the Other through the lens of ethnology's influence on Africa's perception, with a genetic approach, aligning itself with the African literary canon.

Summary Objective: The OECD countries are facing a set of core challenges; an increasing elderly population; increasing number of chronic and lifestyle-related diseases; expanding scope of what medicine can do; and increasing lack of medical professionals. Pervasive healthcare asks how pervasive computing technology can be designed to meet these challenges. The objective of this paper is to discuss ‘pervasive healthcare’ as a research field and tries to establish how novel and distinct it is, compared to related work within biomedical engineering, medical informatics, and ubiquitous computing. Methods: The paper presents the research questions, approach, technologies, and methods of pervasive healthcare and discusses these in comparison to those of other related scientific disciplines. Results: A set of central research themes are presented; monitoring and body sensor networks; pervasive assistive technologies; pervasive computing for hospitals; and preventive and persuasive technologies. Two projects illustrate the kind of research being done in pervasive healthcare. The first project is targeted at home-based monitoring of hypertension; the second project is designing context-aware technologies for hospitals. Both projects approach the healthcare challenges in a new way, apply a new type of research method, and come up with new kinds of technological solutions. ‘Clinical proof-of-concept’ is recommended as a new method for pervasive healthcare research; the method helps design and test pervasive healthcare technologies, and in ascertaining their clinical potential before large-scale clinical tests are needed. Conclusion: The paper concludes that pervasive healthcare as a research field and agenda is novel; it is addressing new emerging research questions, represents a novel approach, designs new types of technologies, and applies a new kind of research method.

A COVID-19 outbreak suddenly appeared in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, and then spread around the world quickly. So far, there have been a series of studies on SARS-COV-2 which has been confirmed as the cause of the outbreak. On account of the characteristic of spreading in droplet, SARS-COV-2 could be transmitted from person to person, causing the epidemic to become more and more severe all over the world. For SARS-COV-2, the spike S protein is essential for successfully infecting cells. In fact, most developmental strategies of vaccines are based on the structure of S proteins as well as host cell receptors. There are also vaccines based on the role of RNA molecules of SARS-COV-2 in host cells or the immune response of human body against the virus. This paper summarizes some research results of scholars on SARS-COV-2, aiming to provide people with a clear idea to understand SARS-COV-2, and hoping to make some contributions to the fight against the virus.

The maintenance of scientific cabled seafloor observatories (CSOs) is not only extremely difficult but also of high cost for their subsea location. Therefore, the cable fault detection and location are essential and must be carried out accurately. For this purpose, a novel on-line fault location approach based on robust state estimation is proposed, considering state data gross errors in sensor measurements and the influence of temperature on system parameter variation. The circuit theory is used to build state estimation equations and identify the power system topology of faulty CSOs. This method can increase the accuracy of fault location, and reduce the lose form shutting down a faulty CSO in traditional fault location methods. It is verified by computer simulation and the laboratory prototype of a planned CSO in the East China Sea, and the fault location error is proved to be less than 1 km.

Streszczenie:
A novel approach to teaching scientific reasoning and writing to science journalism students, as presented here, shows considerable promise. First, the pedagogical approach and a description of seven types of common episodes in the experimental testing of models are outlined. Then, a rubric for evaluating the quality of reasoning is presented. Science writers can use this scheme to identify patterns in scientific reasoning as they interview practicing scientists and write press releases.

Streszczenie:
This paper gives a brief overview of the historical development of scientific balloons and their capabilities. Furthermore, a recent programme by NASA is introduced that aims to develop balloons capable of carrying payloads of several tonnes to above 99% of the Earth's atmosphere for up to 100 days. It is shown that the currently investigated balloons suffer from instabilities that can be minimized using a different design paradigm for the cutting patterns. Finally, a novel balloon design, similar to the topology of radiolarians, is introduced that is potentially superior to existing designs.

Streszczenie:
There are several novels that pique our common interest, but Zola's ambition to put a ‘scientific aim above all others' in his 19th-century novel Thérèse Raquin provides a particularly interesting topic for collective reflection. After being criticised for vulgarity, in the preface to the second edition of his work Zola justified his portrayal of a gruesome ménage àtrois as being analogous to the ‘analytical work that surgeons conduct on cadavers'. Criticism of Zola's work often focuses on whether he achieves the degree of reductionism and determinism that he allegedly strove for or whether, in fact, his predilections for the gothic and fantastic overshadow the novel's scientific, ‘surgical’ veneer. Similarly, psychiatric case notes often begin with a highly formulaic scientific account, yet on closer inspection digress to read more like a tragic novel.

Streszczenie:
Academics all over the world rightly desire to understand how modern science has come about. Indeed there was a time when historians of science had on offer a clear-cut conception of how that happened. But ongoing innovation in historiographical approaches has rendered the period from Galileo to Newton ever more elusive. Its monolithic coherence has been dissolved, a mood of sceptical resignation reigns in the profession over the very possibility of treating seventeenth-century science as more than a string of loosely connected episodes. I argue that, without returning to a historiographical past definitively behind us, coherence may be restored at a higher level of sophistication. Cross-cultural comparison, and unusual ways of dealing with historical concepts and causes, are proper tools to revitalize the issue and come up with partly novel answers to a question that in any case refuses to go away.
