This study investigates macrostructure in elicited narratives of 69 monolingual German-, Russian- and Swedish-speaking adults. Using the LITMUS-MAIN (Multilingual Assessment Instrument for Narratives), and its Baby Goats and Baby Birds stories, story structure and story complexity, concerning episodic organization, were examined across the 3 languages. As theoretical underpinnings, a multidimensional model of macrostructure was used. This model includes analyses of story structure (SS), in which a narrative merits a maximum score of 17, based on the occurrence of five types of macrostructural components (Internal states as initiating event and as reaction, Goal, Attempt and Outcome), and of story complexity (SC), which measures combinations of Goals, Attempts and Outcomes within one episode. The highest attainable complexity is the GAO-sequence, when a Goal, Attempt and Outcome are produced within the same episode. The results for SS were similar for German, Russian and Swedish, where adults included 11-12 components per story. A more detailed analysis of the individual components revealed striking similarities across the 3 languages, both for frequently used and seldom occurring components. SC did not differ significantly across languages nor across stories, whilst for SS, a slight difference between the two stories was found. We interpret this finding as story complexity (a qualitative measure of macrostructure) being of a more universal nature. Furthermore, our results indicate that caution is warranted when conclusions about children’s narrative skills are to be drawn on the basis of the MAIN Baby Goats and Baby Birds stories.

The Indonesian Muslim community has been accustomed to requesting and carrying out religious Fatwas related to ibadah (worship) or mu’amalah (worldly dealings) in religious organizations that gave rise to various Fatwas, such as Muhammadiyah, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), and the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI). This paper focuses on female circumcision, by comparing how the same Quranic verses and Hadith can have various interpretations and Fatwas. Although the source of producing the Fatwa is the same (al-Quran and Hadith), the Fatwa that emerges from three Islamic organization are completely different. Qualitative research methods include interviews and literature review, with Fatwas from religious organizations and interviews being the primary sources. This research concludes that Fatwa from Muhammadiyah is considered the most progressive and has a strong perspective on gender equality and justice by prohibiting female circumcision. On the other hand, the Fatwa from NU and MUI supports and allows female circumcision, even though it has negative impacts on women and baby girls, including the death of baby girls.

There are many efforts internationally to achieve safe and respectful Mother-Baby–Family maternity care. This article is the first to provide a conceptual framework for implementing the Saudi Childbirth Initiative (SCI) in all health institutions in Saudi Arabia. It introduces the 10 Steps of the SCI to strategically achieve a safe and respectful Mother-Baby–Family maternity care in order to improve maternal and infant outcome and implement evidence-based maternity care in Saudi Arabia. The SCI is developed upon previous initiatives and integrates and supports much of the current work being carried out by many organizations. The aim of the SCI's 10 Steps is to improve care throughout the childbearing continuum, to save lives, prevent illness and harm from the overuse of obstetric technologies, and promote health for mothers and babies and to provide clear guidelines for providing optimal maternity care. Safe and respectful Mother-Baby–Family Maternity Care is measurable and for each of the 10 Steps, there is an associated assessment tool to ensure these guidelines are being established by health institutions. SCI envisions that successful implementation of the 10 Steps can be measured and monitored using the a combination of statistical information and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure maternal mortality and morbidity outcomes (currently in development) using local assessors.

Premature babies are very vulnerable and exposed to various life-threatening diseases. World Health Organization reported that many premature babies were saved from morbidity and mortality when they were fed with breastmilk starting from within the first hour after their birth. The rate of premature birth in Malaysia has increased exponentially since 2018—more than 20 percent premature births. Therefore, hospitals should have enough supplies of breastmilk to save the lives of the precious premature babies. However, only one hospital in Malaysia provides supplies of breastmilk on demand. This study employed philosophical method to argue for the establishment of breastmilk collection centre. It examined the concept of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah to justify the proposal of the establishment of breastmilk collection centres in hospitals throughout Malaysia to save the lives, intellects, and progenies of the at-risk premature babies. The primary issues resulting from breastmilk sharing according to Islamic perspective were examined and practical steps were proposed to rectify them. The steps involved obtaining signed consent from wet nurse and her husband; screening of wet nurse’s health and personality characteristics; screening of the breastmilk by the milk collection centre; obtaining signed consent from the premature baby’s parents; feeding breastmilk to the premature baby with the consent of witnesses; meeting between wet nurse and her family and the baby’s parents and family; and completing wet nursing document to be given to the newly formed milk kinship family.

OBJECTIVES/SPECIFIC AIMS: To explore rural African American parents’ and their community advisors’ perspectives on the Safety Baby Shower’s acceptability, feasibility, and adaptability. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: Collaborating with a local community organization, we explored community advisors’ and expectant women’s SBS experiences to understand intervention delivery and adoption in a rural underserved community (RUC). The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research guided our data collection and analysis using focus groups and key informant interviews. We used directed content analysis to generate themes and sub codes. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: Five focus groups (21 participants) and one key informant interview were conducted. Identified barriers that hinder feasibility and acceptability included resources, time/ flexibility, intervention location, cultural norms and beliefs, and the lack of a birthing hospital in the county. “Baby proofing”, “reinforcement products” and “teaching sleep safety on the same day as infant clinical appointment” are expectant mothers’ exemplars for what comes to their minds when asked to think about safety baby showers. To improve feasibility, both community advisors and expectant mothers suggested adaptations ranging from decentralizing or rotating intervention location, using different delivery sites such as churches, scheduling intervention outside business hours, to incorporating intervention into school health fairs and barbeque events. Social media emerged as a facilitator, and integrating safe sleep education into personal baby showers emerged as an implementation strategy. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPACT: The community advisors and expectant mothers identified a wide spectrum of potential adaptations that have potential to improve safe sleep knowledge and practices. In the next study phase, identified themes will inform intervention adaptation and suggested implementation strategies will support uptake of the adapted SBS. Identifying transformative implementation strategies and conducting a community-informed SBS adaptation using a collective decision-making process between intervention experts and local community partners will support improved safety baby shower delivery, adoption and sustainability in RUCs.

 Abstract 
 Background: The World Health Organization or the World Health Organization declares that breast milk is the right food and is suitable for the growth and development of infants throughout the world. However, giving baby complementary foods before reaching the age of 6 months and over will have a very detrimental effect on the baby. Exclusive breastfeeding for infants (< 6 months) contributes greatly to the reduction in infant mortality. On the other hand, giving additional food too early will increase the risk of developing both infectious and non-infectious diseases for the baby. Purpose: This study aims to determine how closely the mother's knowledge and attitudes are with the provision of early MP-ASI in the Kedai Sianam Health Center Work Area, Batu Bara Regency. Methods: This study uses a quantitative approach with the type of observational research with a cross-sectional design where the independent and dependent variables are measured at the same time. The population used is all mothers who have a baby of 6 months. The number of samples based on the sample formula is 32 people. In this study, sampling was done by simple random sampling or by simple random sampling where all members of the population had the opportunity to be selected as samples. Results: The relationship between the mother's level of knowledge about complementary feeding and the provision of complementary feeding in early months in the Kedai Sianam 33 Health Center Work Area, Batu Bara Regency in 2022 with a number of 32 respondents, there is a significant relationship with a p value of 0.001 where the majority of respondents who have poor knowledge give Complementary foods for babies before 6 months.

In Rous sarcoma virus (RSV)-transformed baby hamster kidney (BHK) cells, invadopodia can self-organize into rings and belts, similarly to podosome distribution during osteoclast differentiation. The composition of individual invadopodia is spatiotemporally regulated and depends on invadopodia localization along the ring section: the actin core assembly precedes the recruitment of surrounding integrins and integrin-linked proteins, whereas the loss of the actin core was a prerequisite to invadopodia disassembly. We have shown that invadopodia ring expansion is controlled by paxillin phosphorylations on tyrosine 31 and 118, which allows invadopodia disassembly. In BHK-RSV cells, ectopic expression of the paxillin mutant Y31F-Y118F induces a delay in invadopodia disassembly and impairs their self-organization. A similar mechanism is unraveled in osteoclasts by using paxillin knockdown. Lack of paxillin phosphorylation, calpain or extracellular signal-regulated kinase inhibition, resulted in similar phenotype, suggesting that these proteins belong to the same regulatory pathways. Indeed, we have shown that paxillin phosphorylation promotes Erk activation that in turn activates calpain. Finally, we observed that invadopodia/podosomes ring expansion is required for efficient extracellular matrix degradation both in BHK-RSV cells and primary osteoclasts, and for transmigration through a cell monolayer.

Background: Improved breastfeeding practices have the potential to save the lives of over 823,000 children under 5 years old globally every year. Exclusively breastfeeding infants for the first six months would lead to the largest infant mortality reduction. The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) is a global campaign by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), which promotes best practice to support breastfeeding in maternity services. The Baby-Friendly Community Initiative (BFCI) is an extension of the BHFI’s 10 th step of the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and of the BFHI overall. Its focus is on community-based breastfeeding supports for women. There have been no known attempts to synthesise the overall body of evidence on the BFHI in recent years, and no synthesis of empirical research on the BFCI. This scoping review asks the question: what is known about the implementation of the BFHI and the BFCI globally? Methods and analysis: This scoping review will be conducted according to the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology for scoping reviews. Inclusion criteria will follow the Population, Concepts, Contexts approach. A data charting form will be developed and applied to all the included articles. Qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis will be undertaken. The PAGER (Patterns, Advances, Gaps, Evidence for practice and Research recommendations) methodological framework will be used to analyse and report review findings. Conclusion: This review will establish gaps in current evidence which will inform areas for future research in relation to this global initiative.

Abstract : It is estimated that 80% of mothers who gave birth were able to produce milk in quantities sufficient for the purposes of the baby in full without any additional food and according to the World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding until the age of 4-6 months baby. Annually, more than 25,000 babies Indonesia and 1.3 million babies around the world can be saved by exclusive breastfeeding in 1999, while according to the 2000 report, the WHO approximately 1.5 million children die because they are not feeding properly, less than 15% infants worldwide are given for four months of exclusive breastfeeding and complementary feeding is often inappropriate and unsafe. This research is explanatory research because it explains the relationship between independent variables and dependent variable through hypothesis testing. The method used in this study is a survey method with cross sectional study design. The population in this study are all mothers who breastfeed in Puskesmas Kalumata 2012. Knowledge of the highest in the category of knowledge of both 81 (95.3%) and the behavior of the Exclusive breastfeeding is highest among respondents with a good knowledge of the 55 categories (67.9%). Respondents' attitudes toward breastfeeding Exclusive showed much respondeng that supports 54 (63.5%) and 31 (36.5%) that does not support exclusive breastfeeding her baby. <p> The current American workforce is at a crossroads due to the number of Baby Boomers either retiring or on the cusp of retirement. For many organizations, this cohort possesses knowledge and experiences that can be lost if this knowledge is not transferred before their departure from the organization. This ability to share knowledge is increasingly recognized both as a valuable asset for organizations and as a modern-day challenge for leaders. The purpose of this research was to explore the process of organizational knowledge sharing resulting from the Baby Boomers’ retirement. Using case study methodology and a single-stage sampling procedure, twelve participants were recruited to participate, and research questions were designed, to address how two generations of aerospace engineers describe their experiences with knowledge transfer and the strategies used to support such a transfer. Sources of information for this study were face-to-face, semi-structured interviews, organizational documents, and artifacts. Data were analyzed, generating codes and conceptual categories that eventually led to the emergence of the three themes of organizational knowledge transfer, promote knowledge sharing, and tacit and explicit knowledge. An analysis of these three themes resulted in three specific recommendations for action which were: (a) turning tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge, (b) creating knowledge sharing activities, and (c) developing purposeful leadership. Future researchers could explore management views of knowledge sharing and the impact on the organization.</p><p>

Save the Children Fund (SCF) was at its foundation in 1919 a value-driven organization. The values, or guiding principles, of the founding generation are the lens through which I look at the history of SCF, and the associated histories of war and peace, human rights and NGO-state relations. These guiding principles are identified as universalism, utilitarianism and optimistic pacificism. They can be understood as a paradigm to which the social community which made up the founding generation of SCF gave their assent. The first chapter locates the founding generation within the political culture of the anti-war movement. Succeeding chapters detail the metamorphosis of SCIF from a'contentious social movement into a respectable national organization. As soon as the organization adopted a national rather than a universal orientation, the coordinates of all its guiding principles shifted. In particular the optimistic pacificism of the founding generation was replaced by pessimistic defencism. It was not until after the Cold War that SCIF began to realign itself with its original guiding principles. The three guiding principles are found to be of continuing relevance. Universalism has been reasserted as a positive creed leading SCF to seize political opportunities to reach out to children from all sides. The organization has adopted a utilitarian perspective that affirms the dynamic role of young people in generating their own futures. Lastly, the primacy attached to peace by war-affected people has underlined SCFs urgent mission to uphold an optimistic belief in the possibility of peace.

Official designation as Baby Friendly requires careful assessment completed by a trained external team to confirm that the institution is truly carrying out all Ten Steps of successful breastfeeding and conforming to the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes (BMS).The implementation of these principles are however challenging for facilities as it requires &ldquo<br>strategic planning, implementation and maintaining change&rdquo<br>within the facilities. This dissertation investigates the impact of intrinsic and extrinsic job factors on overall employee job satisfaction for two generation cohort groups, Baby Boomers and Generation X, in a small rural healthcare organization. Eight job factors were selected for the study, reflecting popular characteristics associated with the two groups. The job factors were classified as intrinsic or extrinsic using Hertzberg’s two-factor theory. Intrinsic factors studied were: work itself, promotion, and recognition. Extrinsic factors studied were: pay, supervision, people, technology, and work-family balance. The Job Descriptive Index (JDI) scale was used to assess employee satisfaction with certain job factors; work itself, promotion, pay, supervision, and people. Scales similar to the JDI were created and used to measure satisfaction with technology, work-family balance, and recognition. The Job In General (JIG) scale was used to assess overall job satisfaction for each generation group. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine which of the job factors predicted of overall job satisfaction for each group. Results of the study indicate that overall satisfaction is influenced a discreet combination of intrinsic and extrinsic factors for each group. Generation X’s overall job satisfaction is predicted by extrinsic job factors, (work-family balance, and supervision) as well as intrinsic job factors, (work itself). Baby Boomers’ overall job satisfaction is predicted by an intrinsic job factor, (recognition) as well as an extrinsic job factor (supervision). Smaller than optimal sample size reduces applicability of the results and implies the need for extended research in this area to confirm findings of this study.

Dissertação de Mestrado em Sociologia das Organizações e do Trabalho<br>O presente estudo incidiu sobre a colaboração intraorganizacional existente entre diferentes pessoas inseridas num departamento de TI (Tecnologias de Informação) pertencentes a diferentes gerações. Teve como objetivo compreender de que formas colaboram entre si pessoas que pertencem a diferentes gerações, nomeadamente perceber se a geração tem impacto na colaboração diária entre pessoas deste departamento.
Foram realizadas 18 entrevistas semiestruturadas a trabalhadores de TI da área metropolitana de Lisboa sendo uma das pessoas pertencente à geração Baby Boomer, quatro pessoas à geração X e as restantes treze à geração Y. Relativamente ao sexo, duas pessoas da amostra são do sexo feminino e as restantes do sexo masculino. As entrevistas tiveram a presença de um observador qualificado para desta forma facilitar a compreensão do vocabulário utilizado em TI.
Os resultados permitiram perceber a importância que a colaboração tem no trabalho diário dos trabalhadores de TI e que, segundo os mesmos, a interdependência de tarefas existente que se traduz numa grande necessidade de colaboração. O estudo permitiu também compreender que os entrevistados não valorizam muito o fator geracional no que toca à sua predisposição para colaborar. Com efeito, os participantes neste estudo salientaram aspetos como a dificuldade em lidar com diferentes personalidades e a falta ou falhas de comunicação como fatores que interferem na colaboração entre colegas.<br>The present study focused on the intraorganizational collaboration that exists between different people in an IT (Information Technologies) department belonging to different generations. It aimed to understand the ways in which people belonging to different generations collaborate among themselves, namely to understand if the generation has an impact on the daily collaboration between people in this department.
Eighteen semi-structured interviews were conducted with IT workers in the metropolitan area of Lisbon, one of the people belonging to the Baby Boomer generation, four people to the Generation X and the remaining thirteen to the Generation Y. Regarding gender, two people in the sample are female and the rest are male. The interviews had the presence of a qualified observer to facilitate the understanding of the vocabulary used in IT.
The results made it possible to perceive the importance that collaboration has in the daily work of IT workers and that, according to them, the interdependence of existing tasks that translates into a great need for collaboration. The study also made it possible to understand that the interviewees do not place much value on the generational factor in terms of their willingness to collaborate. Indeed, the participants in this study highlighted aspects such as the difficulty in dealing with different personalities and the lack or failure of communication as factors that interfere in the collaboration between colleagues.<br>N/A

a necessidade de estudar a sua evolução e qual o comportamento que a população tem
vindo a adotar relativamente ao mesmo.
Deste modo, o que se pretende na presente dissertação é estudar quais os principais fatores
que conduzem à intenção de compra através da internet, pelas Gerações Baby boomers,
X e Millennials. E nomeadamente, averiguar se existem diferenças entre os critérios que
influenciam cada um dos grupos de e-consumers em análise.
O estudo baseou-se na recolha de dados através de um questionário online, pelo que se
pressupõe que o universo em análise está familiarizado com a internet.
Numa fase posterior, os dados recolhidos foram devidamente apreciados, através de
análises estatísticas adequadas, por forma a observar resultados e retirar as conclusões do
estudo proposto.
Constatámos que, dos seis (dimensões) fatores em pesquisa, existem dois onde se
verificam diferenças no comportamento das gerações, no momento de decisão de compra
online. Esta desigualdade comportamental deu origem a dois grupos distintos, os Baby
boomers e as Gerações X e Millennials. Concluiu-se que os e-retailers que pretendam
direcionar o seu mercado para o grupo nascido entre 1947 e 1964, devem ter especial
atenção, pois esta população valoriza fatores diferentes quando comparada com as duas
gerações subsequentes.
Com a aplicação deste conhecimento, entende-se que os e-retailers poderão obter
vantagem competitiva, após perceção das necessidades e expetativas do seu target,
quando definido.<br>E-commerce has been growing in the recent years. With this growth, it is raised the
necessity to understand its evolvement in addition with the people’s behavior toward this
new phenomenon.
In the present study, we aim to learn which are the most influencing factors driving people
to shop via internet. We segmented the buyers into the categories commonly accepted
which are baby boomers, generation X, and the millennials and we also aim to learn the
differences among the three groups in criteria while shopping in the internet.
The study was based on online survey, which assumes that the universe under study is
familiar with the internet. After that, data were properly assessed through appropriated
statistical analyses to observe results and to draw conclusions of the study.
We have found out there are six factors conditioning people to go online shopping and,
the baby boomers differ from the millennials and the generation X in two of those factors.
Therefore, we have specific recommendations for the e-retailers if they want to address
to those who were born between 1947 and 1964 once they have different perceptions
towards online shopping from those who were born in subsequent years.
This study provides practical application for the e-retailers to obtain competitive
advantage by better addressing to the needs and expectations of their potential customers.

The virtual era offers new business opportunities, encouraging the creation of multi-sided
platforms where resources can be more efficiently used and interactions between “strangers”
can be stimulated, contributing to the development of synergies that enrich all actors. Moreover,
these interactions are online based which enforces the platform to implement strategies to
increase trustworthiness among participants. The research explores, in a case study approach
through qualitative interviews, the trust concept in business to business (B2B) markets and how
it can influence the process of innovation. The analysis is centred on a childcare platform that
was able to build a system trust, founded on solid relationships and new mechanisms, in a sector
that was mainly based on interpersonal trust. Nonetheless, the constant contact between the
company and its partners creates an environment where both actors can share ideas, enabling
the business to improve and explore potential innovation opportunities. The findings of the
research, by some means limited to the scope of the study, contribute to the literature by
addressing different concepts of trust in order to understand how trust in childcare services can
be strengthened in an online B2B context, with effects at the company and sector levels.<br>A era virtual oferece novas oportunidades de negócio, incentivando a criação de plataformas

de crianças que foi capaz de construir confiança sistémica, sustentada em relacionamentos
sólidos e novos mecanismos, num setor que se baseia principalmente na confiança interpessoal.
Adicionalmente, o contato constante entre a empresa e seus parceiros cria um ambiente em que
ambos os intervenientes expõem as suas ideias, permitindo à empresa melhorar o negócio e
explorar potenciais oportunidades de inovação. Os resultados da pesquisa, de certa forma
limitados ao âmbito do estudo, contribuem para a literatura ao abordar diferentes conceitos

O presente relatório tem como temática: A organização do tempo em educação de
infância – A adequação da rotina às necessidades e interesses das crianças.
O relatório apresenta um estudo transversal em dois contextos distintos, creche e
jardim-de-infância, realizado a partir das observações e das vivências realizadas nos
momentos de estágio no âmbito do Mestrado em Educação Pré-Escolar.
A investigação assentou no paradigma interpretativo e na metodologia qualitativa,
tendo como finalidade compreender como é que na organização do tempo as educadoras
de infância organizavam a rotina de forma a responder às necessidades e interesses das
crianças.
Neste estudo as opções de recolha da informação foram a observação participante,
as notas de campo, o inquérito por questionário e a análise documental. A partir dos
instrumentos selecionados, assim como do modo como foram percecionadas as duas
práticas pedagógicas, são descritas e interpretadas as observações realizadas e as
conceções das educadoras cooperantes.
A análise interpretativa realizada neste estudo permitiu constatar que o educador de
infância, enquanto gestor de currículo responsável pela organização do tempo no contexto
educativo onde exerce funções, deve adequar as rotinas de forma a responder às
necessidades e interesses das crianças.<br>The theme of the present resume is: The organization of time in kindergarten-
Children’s necessities and interests adapted to the routines.
The resume presents a transversal study in two distinct contexts: baby nursery and
kindergarten, both based on the observation and direct cohabitation that took place during
the internship in the context of the master’s degree in preschool education.
The investigation was based on interpretative paradigm and qualitative
methodology with the final purpose of understanding how in the organization of time the
childhood educators organize the routine in order to respond to children’s interests and
necessities.
In this study the forms of gathering information were several – began with
participative observation, field notes, questionnaires and documental analyses. From the
selected instruments, as well as the way the two pedagogic practices were perceived, the
observations made and the cooperating teacher’s conceptions are described and
interpreted.
The interpretative analyses made in this study allow us understand that the
childhood educator, while curriculums manager and responsible of time in the educative
context were its functions are exercised, should suit the routines in order to correspond to

The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the perceptions of senior administrative and middle manager community college leaders regarding current succession planning and management practices occurring within their institutions. Three research questions guided this study: (1) Is the four succession planning and management components structurally related, (2) Is there a difference in how senior administrative and middle manager leaders evaluate succession planning and management components, and (3) Is there a difference between size and location of institution in regards to status of succession planning and management components? A suitable succession planning and management instrument was not found; therefore, the Wright-Coward Succession Planning and Management Survey (WCSPMS) instrument was developed. An exploratory factor analysis was used to address research question one and test the structural relationship of the common succession planning and management components of the survey. A second statistical procedure, multivariate analysis of variance, was used to analyze differences between the four dependent measures of succession planning and management and leadership level, and institutional factors. Findings from this study suggested (1) items on the WCSPMS instrument are correlated and three relatively independent succession planning and management factors are associated with the 20 underlying items, and (2) there is a statistical significant difference between leadership level in regards to perceptions of succession planning and management practices. Furthermore, this study indicated there is much work to be done by community college leaders in the area of succession planning and management.<br>text

AbstractThe focus of this chapter is how an established civil society organization relates to changing conditions and opportunities in contemporary Sweden. Taking the ongoing reorientation of Save the Children Sweden as a case study, this chapter illuminates the strategic approach to, and practical implementation of, that reorientation in relation to contemporary negotiations of the role of civil society in Sweden. The results show that Save the Children Sweden’s development is taking place in the context of Sweden’s contemporary civil society landscape with its newly available resources, increasingly blurred borders, and contradictory ideals. The reorientation of Save the Children Sweden is here conceptualized in terms of avant-garde professionalism, with an increase in operational activities serving to pressure the state and other organizations to acknowledge their responsibilities.

AbstractThe investigation of the four relief agencies’ organizational models – undertaken by combining analysis of websites, strategic documents and policy guidelines with fieldwork and interviews with NGO staffers – has shown the different ways in which each organization works. Exploration of the different sectors of intervention has highlighted the different roles NGOs want to have not only in the lives of their beneficiaries but more generally in the governance system of their communities. As illustrated in Chap. 10.1007/978-3-030-71143-6_5, the spectrum of activities is quite wide. Save the Children focuses on education and child protection (mainly through psychosocial support) complementary advocacy to secure policy change to enable a better world for children; Oxfam prioritizes ‘giving voice’ to the voiceless, water and sanitation, psychosocial support, legal counselling, combined also with a vigorous advocacy and influencing program to create lasting solutions to injustice and poverty. CARE has a similar focus on voice and empowerment especially for women and girls. Its gender transformative approach informs its work on protection, responses to gender-based violence) distribution of relief items, and, to a lesser extent, water and sanitation. As with Save the Children and Oxfam, CARE sets store by advocacy for policy reforms to end poverty and gender inequality. For its part, MSF operations focused on medical assistance, ranging from primary health care, surgery, mental health and psychosocial support, and medical evacuation. For MSF, belief in the power of témoignage has driven denunciations of those who hinder humanitarian action or divert aid and also critique of the wider disfunctionalities of the humanitarian system itself.

AbstractThe authors underscore the importance of five key components of a successful pandemic communication strategy—trust, timeliness, transparency, public, and planning. The rapid dissemination of information in social media and other digital platforms has led to an overabundance of information about COVID-19 and much of it is false. This has been termed by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an ‘infodemic’. Misinformation and disinformation about the origins of the pandemic, how it spread, and how it can be contained, have impacted efforts to save lives. However, several international and national organizations have successfully countered these messages by using low-tech and high-tech technologies to build trust and encourage compliance with public health measures.Drawing on past experiences with previous pandemics, the authors discuss how communication strategies have been refined over time. Examples are provided of the impact of misinformation and dissemination on the pandemic in different countries. The experiences of countries around the world and the Indian experience are analyzed. Based on learnings with various communication approaches, the authors make recommendations for future crises: trust the science, identify credible spokespersons, consistently relay and leverage technologies, invest in digital literacy, sustain media engagement, and build intersectoral cooperation.

AbstractOnboarding is a process of organizational socialization of the new hires, that includes recruitment, orientation, training, coaching and support. While onboarding individuals into an organization is a rather straightforward task, little is known about 1) onboarding hundreds of developers and 2) doing it on a distance in outsourcing situations. Furthermore, the subject of sustainable growth with respect to organizational capabilities and culture is often overlooked. This paper reports findings from an exploratory multi-case study of two large onboarding campaigns. We collected empirical data from interviews, retrospectives, onboarding documentation and onsite visits. Based on the empirical study, onboarding hundreds of software engineers in a complex agile product development environment which lacks documentation and puts high demands on engineers’ knowledge and skills is a challenging and costly endeavor. To save the costs and for practical reasons, large-scale onboarding is organized in batches with the first batch trained onsite, and the later batches trained internally. We report challenges faced in the two cases and discuss possible solutions. One core finding is that a good plan combined with the organizational agility, i.e., the responsiveness to change, together with organizational maturity determined the success of organizational scaling. The presented cases contribute to the scarce research on knowledge transfer and onboarding in a large-scale agile context.

This chapter examines how retiring knowledge workers from Europe can carry their educational attainment, wealth, competencies, and experience with them to conduct their activities on a transnational scale. A qualitative approach is adopted consisting of observations and interviews with Dutch professors. What's more, a literature review was done about international retirement migration (IRM) and statistics about Europe and Turkey. IRM of thousands of baby boomers can be harnessed across borders through scientific, academic, volunteer, and educational (SAVE) activities, which can contribute to peace and prosperity in the host communities along with the knowledge workers' personal development and well-being. The propensity of retiring knowledge workers to engage in cross-border living, learning, and transition requires the analysis of Turkey's image as a temporary or permanent destination for IRM.

Knowledge management is many things to different people. Within complex organizations, this reality needs to be acknowledged. For an organization to utilize and enhance knowledge for competitive advantages, systems and culture need to be analyzed within the context of an organization’s strategy. Once analyzed, an honest appraisal of the knowledge systems in place and those needed to fulfill the strategic goals of the organization will have to be performed. For everyone within an organization to be able to “pull in the same direction” and achieve maximum value from a knowledge management system, that system will have to mean the same thing to all. If a knowledge management system is to be central in maintaining a competitive advantage for organizations, it will engulf the organization. To understand financial systems, audits are undertaken to ensure that systems provide the information as expected. It is well understood that for financial information to be meaningful, it must be understood. To be understood, it must be logically prepared and presented in a manner useful and timely to the end user. Through an audit process of this nature performed on knowledge management systems within the context of business strategy and culture, an organization learns what is needed to get their divergent individuals on the same page, as it were, to fulfill the promise of enhancing its most valuable resource in a competitive world. This chapter examines how to systematically conduct a knowledge management audit. By design, the audit was simplified and designed around a single specific issue. By breaking apart where the organization needs to go and combining it with a study of what it will take to get there from a knowledge management systems standpoint, individuals can come together to build the framework literally from the ground up. Companies can use this framework to assess how they plan with knowledge management as the central, differentiating factor in their business strategy.

Every moment, somewhere in our planet especially in low in come country, women of reproductive age group die from problems linked to gestations. The major reason for this enormous magnitude of complication is failure to use antenatal care services particularly in developing countries. The World Health Organization recommends a minimum of four ANC visits. However, global estimates indicate that only about half of all pregnant women receive this recommended amount of care. Antenatal care is one of the evidence-based interventions to decrease the probability of bad health outcomes for mothers and their newborns. Effectiveness of antenatal care, however, relies on the quality of care provided during each antenatal care visits. Antenatal care is an umbrella term used to describe the medical procedures and care that carried out starting from preconception. lt is a care a woman receives throughout her pregnancy and is important in helping to ensure a healthy pregnancy state and safe childbirth. Therefore, antenatal care is to assure that every wanted pregnancy results in the delivery of a healthy baby without impairing the mother’s health. The aim of this chapter is to examine the impact of antenatal care in decreasing maternal and newborn death from preconception through postnatal period.

The aim of this paper is to explain the possibilities offered by modelling and simulation systems in the process of supporting the organization and implementation of exercises, as well as the way of planning and organizing computer-aided exercises, the ultimate goal of which is to train training groups in solving problems caused by various crisis situations.

"This study focuses on verifying the emotions and attitudes of pregnant women in social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic and gathering information for the organization of psychoeducational support actions online. A questionnaire was prepared on identification, gestational and family history, emotions and attitudes toward social isolation and use of distance communication tools and search for psychological support. Were answered 59 questionnaires. 95% agreed with the social isolation measures. Family relationship conflicts were reported in 54.2%. Changes in emotions were perceived in 91.5%, of which 86.4% associated with the pandemic and 66.1% to pregnancy. The emotion of fear was aroused in 84.7% of the cases, sadness in 45.8%, loneliness in 33.9%, exhaustion in 42.4%, irritation in 50.9%. Positive emotions of solidarity occurred in 28.8%, hope in 27.1% and optimism in 15.3% of the sample. 54.2% think that talking to a psychologist can help. The content of the responses is concerned with quality of life, hygiene habits, and interpersonal relationships, special care for the baby, avoiding visits to babies, need for help with baby care, fear of contagion and going to the hospital, insecurity about returning to work and the absence of government protection measures. It is concluded that psychological support and online psycho education for pregnant women can be a protective factor for the mental health of pregnant women during the pandemic."

Abstract. Introduction. The organization of medical care for employees of remote industrial enterprises (remote healthcare) is an extremely important task and an urgent problem in the healthcare system as a whole. The correct organization and evidence-based approaches in the remote healthcare system will save the labor force, which forms the basis of the economic development of any country. Purpose: to evaluate the system of organizing medical care for employees of remote industrial facilities based on the analysis of the results of periodic medical examinations and medical evacuations. Research methods. The analysis of the results of periodic medical examination of a large mining enterprise in the period 2018-2021 was carried out. , and also analyzed the results of medical evacuations from industrial facilities in the period 2018-2020. (154 objects from 14 regions of the country). Taking into account the fact that the bulk of workers in remote industrial facilities are men employed in the main profile of the enterprise, women were excluded from the analysis. Results. According to the results of medical examinations, 18.6% were recognized as completely healthy in 2018, 6.6% in 2019, and 12.6% of workers in remote industrial facilities in 2021. The rest had one or another pathology. The structure of workers' diseases revealed during medical examinations was analyzed in accordance with ICD-10. In the structure of the morbidity of workers at remote industrial facilities, the first three places in descending order of rank are occupied by diseases of the digestive system, diseases of the eyes and adnexa, diseases of the nervous system (in 2018 -38.2%, 35.3%, 22%; in 2019 - 53.1%, 45.3%, 19.5%; in 2021 - 44%, 34.1% 15.8%, respectively). In addition, in 2021, the prevalence of risk factors in men and women was analyzed, the contribution of each of the factors was revealed (physical - 26.5%, smoking - 26%, alcohol - 11.1%). The number of medical evacuations was: 2,390 planned (61.5%) and 1,493 emergency (38.4%). In the structure of all evacuations of personnel of remote industrial facilities, BSK was in the lead, followed by injuries and poisoning, diseases of the digestive system and diseases of the respiratory system. The main reason for emergency evacuations was injuries and poisoning, 2nd and 3rd places were taken by BSK and diseases of the digestive system, respectively. In the group of workers under 39 years of age, the first three positions were occupied by injuries and poisoning, diseases of the digestive system and BSC, and in the group of older age intervals, BSC significantly prevailed, the second place was taken by injuries and poisoning, and the third - diseases of the digestive system. Conclusion. The results of the study and data analysis made it possible to identify the key components (human, informational, financial, educational, material resources) of remote health care and confirmed the importance and necessity of developing a unified concept of maintaining the health of personnel at industrial facilities located in hard-to-reach areas.

Abstract The current practices in oil & Gas industry lack digitalization in the field of Sand Management. A recently developed simulator was identified and employed to conduct a pilot study and hence compare the metal loss and choke health data with the real field thickness sensor and choke inspection data. The objective of the Study was to carry out an analysis of the current challenges in the Sand Management portfolio of the organization and to present solutions via the software. The challenges included: Identifying the Total Metal Loss & Deposition hotspots for entire field.Development of a robust strategy to manage production chokes.Study of corrosion effects on erosion due to sand.The obtained results to be in accordance with the actual field conditions.Provide recommendations for efficient sand management and cost savings. A thorough Sand Management study inclusive of Total Metal Loss (Erosion + Corrosion), Depositional and Handling risks related to the Well and Facility were studied using the software's advanced sand travel logics, unique features & multi-level sensitivity analysis. The main Outputs from the study were: Metal Loss Hotspots & their values for all the facility pipelines were identified, calibrated and Validated.The study provided road maps to answer the uncertainties related to the incoming Particle Size Distribution (PSD), incoming and surface Sand Concentration through work-flows and sensitivity analysis.A Choke Management workflow was displayed which not only simulates the current condition of the choke but can also predicts future failures and help in optimizing choke for longevity.Component Life & Minimum Allowable wall thickness calculations. At the end of this phase, the results were presented & validated by the Petronas Technical team. As a result of the above study, the benefits of the software's accurate predictions were: Cost & Time Saving: the frequency of sand sensor data collection can be increased. Also, since the hotspots have already been pin-pointed by the simulator, there is no need to conduct the metal loss sensor survey for the entire pipeline, it can be focused to the hotspots only.Carbon Footprint Reduction: Higher frequency would result in lower human intervention.The metal Loss and health data can be visualized on a real-time basis hence a more pro-active approach can be applied to tackle the integrity issues. Substantial increase in revenue and reduction in expenditure can be done by predicting and mitigating the sand related risks. This Simulator can cover the entire cradle to grave period of a field & this new outlook of sand management would be highly beneficial to industry.

Prenatal care aims to ensure the healthy development of pregnancy in order to allow delivery with lower risks for the mother and baby, since about 830 women die every day from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth worldwide, according to data released by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). With the Previne Brasil program, indicators for prenatal follow-up were included, such as routine testing for HIV/Syphilis, early recruitment of pregnant women up to 12 weeks of gestation, follow-up of at least six prenatal consultations and dental visits. At the time of discovery of pregnancy, the pregnant woman should seek the nearest health unit to start the follow-up, which in the first consultation should be performed a detailed anamnesis in order to know its particularities, such as place of residence, socioeconomic characteristics, support network, understand and offer support for the gestational period still in the first trimester, There is also the opening of the vaccination booklet and prescription of complementary tests.

In particular, information about funding or financing the scoping, design, construction, monitoring, and adaptive management of NI projects constitutes a key need as there is no standard process for securing funds. This technical note is part of a series documenting successful examples of funding NI projects and sharing lessons learned about a variety of funding and financing methods to increase the implementation of NI projects. The research effort is a collaboration between the Engineering With Nature® (EWN®) and Systems Approach to Geomorphic Engineering (SAGE) programs of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). This technical note explores how the Elizabeth River Project (ERP), a nonprofit organization based in Norfolk, Virginia, developed a homeowner cost-sharing program to fund NI projects—living shorelines, rain gardens, and riparian buffers—within an urban watershed.

It is part of a series focusing on at-risk border areas between Uganda and four high priority neighbouring countries: Rwanda; Tanzania; Kenya; and South Sudan. The outbreak began in Mubende, Uganda on 19 September 2022, approximately 300 kilometres from the Uganda-Rwanda border. At the time of writing (November 2022) it has spread to nine Ugandan districts, including two in the Kampala metropolitan area. Kampala is a transport hub, with a population over 3.6 million. While the global risk from SVD remains low according to the World Health Organization, its presence in the Uganda capital has significantly heightened the risk to regional neighbours. Rwanda is categorised as Priority 1, with significant preparedness activities underway. As of November 2022, there had been no case of SVD imported from Uganda into Rwanda, although alerts have been triggered at border posts. This brief provides details about cross-border relations, the political and economic dynamics likely to influence these, and specific areas and actors most at risk. It is based on a rapid review of existing published and grey literature, news reports, previous ethnographic research in Rwanda and Uganda, and informal discussions with colleagues from Save the Children, UNICEF, UNECA, UNDP, IOM, TBI, and the World Bank. Despite marked progress in improving nutrition and health globally, micronutrient deficiencies remain prevalent in low and middle income countries (LMIC), especially among pregnant women with far-reaching consequences for mother and baby including preterm birth, stillbirth or neonatal death, impaired fetal growth. Multiple micronutrient supplements (MMS) taken during pregnancy provide 15 vitamins and minerals to fill the dietary gaps often present in LMIC and the increased nutrient needs of pregnancy. Crucially, MMS provide benefits far beyond those of traditional iron and folic acid supplements (IFA) – prompting the World Health Organization to add the UNIMMAP (United Nations International Multiple Micronutrient Antenatal Preparation) MMS formulation to its Essential Medicines List (EML) in 2021. The Sight and Life Special Report, Focusing on Multiple Micronutrient Supplements in Pregnancy: Second Edition puts forth a compelling case that maintaining the status quo of IFA supplementation is no longer possible when so many stand to benefit from MMS, and demonstrates the benefits and process of switching to MMS. The report compiles the latest evidence, country case studies, and resources in a single place to support implementers and country governments in introducing and scaling-up MMS.
