Streszczenie:
ABSTRACT Doppler spectroscopy is a powerful tool for discovering and characterizing exoplanets. For decades, the standard approach to extracting radial velocities (RVs) has been to cross-correlate observed spectra with a weighted template mask. While still widely used, this approach is known to suffer numerous drawbacks, and so in recent years increasing attention has been paid to developing new and improved ways of extracting RVs. In this proof-of-concept paper, we present a simple yet powerful approach to RV extraction. We use Gaussian processes to model and align all pairs of spectra with each other; we combine the pairwise RVs thus obtained to produce accurate differential stellar RVs, without constructing any template. Doing this on a highly localized basis enables a data-driven approach to identifying and mitigating spectral contamination, even without the input of any prior astrophysical knowledge. We show that a crude implementation of this method applied to an inactive standard star yields RVs with comparable precision to and significantly lower rms variation than RVs from industry-standard pipelines. Though amenable to numerous improvements, even in its basic form presented here our method could facilitate the study of smaller planets around a wider variety of stars than has previously been possible.

Agility is the player’s capability to perform rapid whole-body movement with change of velocity or direction in response to a stimulus. The aims of this study were as follows: 1) to assess the reliability of a reactive visual stimuli agility field test (RVS-T); and 2) to evaluate differences in RVS-T and planned (PVS-T) agility performances between female soccer and futsal players. Material and methods. Sixty-six female players belonging to Italian teams of regional level were recruited to the study. The experimental apparatus consisted of four lighted spherical visual stimuli connected to a computer able to randomly generate three different sequences. Differences between RVS-T and PVS-T performances were calculated to evaluate the decision-making time (DMT) of players. Results. The intraclass reliability coeffi cient for RVS-T was 0.80. Significant (P<0.05) differences emerged only for RVS-T (futsal, 17.3±0.5 s; soccer, 18.8±1.1 s) and DMT (futsal, 2.6±0.6 s; soccer, 4.1±1.2 s), whereas similar performances between groups resulted for PVS-T (futsal, 14.7±0.6 s; soccer, 14.6±0.6 s). Conclusions. The RVS-T proved to be a reliable tool to evaluate agility in field conditions. Futsal players showed better RVS-T and DMT performances with respect to soccer counterparts, probably due to the higher velocity of actions and faster decision-making of their sport. The lack of difference in PVS-T performances confi rms the importance to evaluate agility capabilities of players in both planned and reactive conditions.

AbstractThe Gaia-ESO survey (GES; Gilmore et al. (2012), Randich et al. (2013)) is a spectroscopic survey complementing the Gaia mission to bring accurate radial velocities and chemical abundances for 105 stars. Merle et al. (submitted to A&A; see also this volume) developped a tool (DOE) to detect multiple peaks in the cross-correlation functions (CCFs) of GES spectra. Using the GIRAFFE HR10 and HR21 settings, we were able to compare the efficiency of our SB detection tool depending on the wavelength range and resolution. We show that a careful design of CCF masks can improve the detection rate in the HR21 settings. HR21 spectra are similar to the ones produced by the RVS spectrograph of the Gaia mission, though the lower resolution of RVS spectra may result in a lower detection efficiency than the case of HR21. Analysis of RVS spectra in the context of spectroscopic binaries can take advantage of the lessons learnt from the GES to maximize the detection rate.

ABSTRACT Group A rotaviruses (RVs) are the most important cause of acute viral gastroenteritis in infants and young children. In this study raw and treated drinking water supplies at plants in two geographic areas, as well as selected irrigation water and corresponding raw vegetables in three regions of southern Africa, were screened for the presence of RVs using molecular techniques. Group A RVs were detected in 11.8% of partially treated and 1.7% of finally treated drinking water samples and in 14% of irrigation water samples and 1.7% of corresponding raw vegetable samples. Type-specific reverse transcriptase-PCR and sequence analysis revealed the presence of multiple types (G1, G2, G8, and G9) in irrigation water and single types (G1 or G3) in raw and treated drinking water. Group A RVs detected in all samples consisted of mixed P types (P[4], P[6], P[8], and P[9]), with P[6] predominating. The detection of types G8, G9, and P[6] reflects the emergence of these types in clinical infections. The similarity of environmental types to those in patients with clinical RV infections confirms the value of wastewater screening as a tool for assessing RVs circulating in communities, with the benefit of detecting types that cause both clinical and subclinical infections. The results provide new information on RV types in water and related environments and identify the potential risk of waterborne transmission. In addition, the presence of RVs in drinking water underlines shortcomings in quality specifications. These data provide valuable information regarding the prevalence of RVs in environmental sources, with important implications for vaccine development.

Evaluating the sum of independent and not necessarily identically distributed (i.n.i.d) random variables (RVs) is essential to study different variables linked to various scientific fields, particularly, in wireless communication channels. However, it is difficult to evaluate the distribution of this sum when the number of RVs increases. Consequently, the complex contour integral will be difficult to determine. Considering this issue, a more accurate approximation of the distribution function is required. By assuming the probability density function (PDF) of a generalized gamma (GG) RV evaluated in terms of a proper subset H1,0 1,1 class of Fox’s H-function (FHF) and the moment-based approximation to estimate the FHF parameters, a closed-form tight approximate expression for the distribution of the sum of i.n.i.d GG RVs and a sufficient condition for the convergence are investigated. The proposed approximate may be an analytical useful tool for analyzing the performance of certain numbers branch maximal-ratio combining receivers subject to GG fading channels. Hence, various closed-form performance metrics are derived and examined in terms of FHF. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the theoretical results.

ABSTRACTSpecies A rotaviruses (RVs) are a leading cause of severe acute gastroenteritis in infants and children younger than 5 years. Currently available RV vaccines were adapted from wild-type RV strains by serial passage of cultured cells or by reassortment between human and animal RV strains. These traditional methods require large-scale screening and genotyping to obtain vaccine candidates. Reverse genetics is a tractable, rapid, and reproducible approach to generating recombinant RV vaccine candidates carrying any VP4 and VP7 genes that provide selected antigenicity. Here, we developed a vaccine platform by generating recombinant RVs carrying VP4 (P[4] and P[8]), VP7 (G1, G2, G3, G8, and G9), and/or VP6 genes cloned from human RV clinical samples using the simian RV SA11 strain (G3P[2]) as a backbone. Neutralization assays using monoclonal antibodies and murine antisera revealed that recombinant VP4 and VP7 monoreassortant viruses exhibited altered antigenicity. However, replication of VP4 monoreassortant viruses was severely impaired. Generation of recombinant RVs harboring a chimeric VP4 protein for SA11 and human RV gene components revealed that the VP8* fragment was responsible for efficient infectivity of recombinant RVs. Although this system must be improved because the yield of vaccine viruses directly affects vaccine manufacturing costs, reverse genetics requires less time than traditional methods and enables rapid production of safe and effective vaccine candidates.IMPORTANCE Although vaccines have reduced global RV-associated hospitalization and mortality over the past decade, the multisegmented genome of RVs allows reassortment of VP4 and VP7 genes from different RV species and strains. The evolutionary dynamics of novel RV genotypes and their constellations have led to great genomic and antigenic diversity. The reverse genetics system is a powerful tool for manipulating RV genes, thereby controlling viral antigenicity, growth capacity, and pathogenicity. Here, we generated recombinant simian RVs (strain SA11) carrying heterologous VP4 and VP7 genes cloned from clinical isolates and showed that VP4- or VP7-substituted chimeric viruses can be used for antigenic characterization of RV outer capsid proteins and as improved seed viruses for vaccine production.

Earthquake is among the most devastating natural disasters causing severe economical, environmental, and social destruction. Earthquake safety assessment and building hazard monitoring can highly contribute to urban sustainability through identification and insight into optimum materials and structures. While the vulnerability of structures mainly depends on the structural resistance, the safety assessment of buildings can be highly challenging. In this paper, we consider the Rapid Visual Screening (RVS) method, which is a qualitative procedure for estimating structural scores for buildings suitable for medium- to high-seismic cases. This paper presents an overview of the common RVS methods, i.e., FEMA P-154, IITK-GGSDMA, and EMPI. To examine the accuracy and validation, a practical comparison is performed between their assessment and observed damage of reinforced concrete buildings from a street survey in the Bingöl region, Turkey, after the 1 May 2003 earthquake. The results demonstrate that the application of RVS methods for preliminary damage estimation is a vital tool. Furthermore, the comparative analysis showed that FEMA P-154 creates an assessment that overestimates damage states and is not economically viable, while EMPI and IITK-GGSDMA provide more accurate and practical estimation, respectively.

Context. The CARMENES survey is a high-precision radial velocity (RV) programme that aims to detect Earth-like planets orbiting low-mass stars. Aims. We develop least-squares fitting algorithms to derive the RVs and additional spectral diagnostics implemented in the SpEctrum Radial Velocity AnaLyser (SERVAL), a publicly available python code. Methods. We measured the RVs using high signal-to-noise templates created by coadding all available spectra of each star. We define the chromatic index as the RV gradient as a function of wavelength with the RVs measured in the echelle orders. Additionally, we computed the differential line width by correlating the fit residuals with the second derivative of the template to track variations in the stellar line width. Results. Using HARPS data, our SERVAL code achieves a RV precision at the level of 1 m/s. Applying the chromatic index to CARMENES data of the active star YZ CMi, we identify apparent RV variations induced by stellar activity. The differential line width is found to be an alternative indicator to the commonly used full width half maximum. Conclusions. We find that at the red optical wavelengths (700–900 nm) obtained by the visual channel of CARMENES, the chromatic index is an excellent tool to investigate stellar active regions and to identify and perhaps even correct for activity-induced RV variations.

Thiamine deficiency may cause Wernicke encephalopathy (WE) characterized by ataxia, ophthalmoplegia, and confusion. Aside from the triad of cardinal symptoms, selective or predominant impairments of bilateral horizontal canals may be observed in WE. Here, we report a patient with gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT)-lymphoma complicated by an early stage of WE due to thiamine deficiency manifesting bilateral vestibular dysfunctions. A 78-year-old man recently diagnosed gastric MALT-lymphoma presented with dizziness and disequilibrium for several weeks. He showed mild imbalance while tandem walking and abnormal catch-up saccades bilaterally during bedside head impulse test (HIT). Video HIT revealed decreased vestibulo-ocular reflex gains with catch-up saccades for the bilateral horizontal and several vertical canals. Diagnostic work-up demonstrated decreased serum thiamine and lesions in the mammillary body and periaqueductal gray matter on brain magnetic resonance images. Furthermore, with thiamine replacement, his clinical symptoms were markedly improved. Also, vestibular symptoms and signs may be an early manifestation of WE, and video HIT could be a useful diagnostic tool to aid early detections.

Objectives: This study was performed to evaluate the difference of the cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (cVEMP) stimulated by bone-conduction (BC) and air-conduction (AC) in patients with nonspecific dizziness. Methods: Twenty-eight dizzy patients (56 ears) and 15 subjects (30 ears) as normal control was enrolled. Responses of BC- and AC-cVEMP were recorded sequentially in both groups. cVEMP parameters including latencies, inter-latencies intervals, amplitudes, and interaural amplitude asymmetry were analyzed and compared. Results: Among the patients with nonspecific dizziness, AC-cVEMP responses were clearly detected in all 56 ears while BC-cVEMP responses were detected in 32 ears (57.1%). Amplitudes of BC-cVEMP were significantly smaller than those of AC-cVEMP in all patients with BC-cVEMP response. There was no difference in latencies, inter-latencies intervals, and interaural amplitude asymmetry ratios between BC- and AC-cVEMP. There was no significant difference in BCand AC-cVEMP between the dizzy and control groups. Conclusions: BC-cVEMP is not clinically useful in comparison to AC-cVEMP for the evaluation of nonspecific dizziness. An effective stimulation tool for BC is necessary to provoke more reliable responses of BC-cVEMP.

Streszczenie:
As per the studies conducted in past, it has been stipulated that it is not the earthquakes which kill humans, instead it is the poor and substandard practices involved in the construction of building which leads to its failure in the seismic event. Although, various IS codes for the design of building are available, but due to the rapid urbanization they have been overlooked. Being a seismic zone IV (as Per IS 1893:2016) and a rapidly urbanizing city without considering the standard construction practices, Delhi becomes a soft target for any severe seismic event. Hence, in order to safeguard deficit structures against seismic excitation; a rapid performance evaluation strategy is the need of hour. A lot of effort for the assessment of existing structures has been laid upon, but the basic idea could not be inherited. Eventually the strategy could not be implemented, owing to their technical complexities. Although, Various screening guidelines have been issued by different agencies, but FEMA P-154(2015) and FEMA P-155(2015) supplements the screening in the most comprehensive manner by scoring the screened building for its various attributes, like RVS score has been used to calculate risk of earthquake causing the collapse of building. Adopting the various fundamentals of practices in various guidelines such as FEMA, ATC etc., this dissertation aims to simplify the application of RVS in purview of various Indian Standard Codes, in order to achieve a better probabilistic approach in estimation of probable life building. In this dissertation, a detailed study has been carried out to calculate the probability of collapse of building using RVS score and subsequently that probability of collapse is compared with the probability of MCE shaking. Eventually, the result from comparison is used to decide, if the detailed vulnerability assessment of the building is required or not. Following the methodology prescribed by FEMA 154(2015), four Different types of existing structures have been taken as case study for the calculation of the collapse probability i.e., High-Rise RCC Building, Mid Rise RCC Building, RCC plus Masonry Combined Building and Load Bearing Masonry Building. In addition, RVS score has been used to calculate the Probability of the collapse mechanism to happen in a building under a significant earthquake within next 50 years. Following the calculation of Risk Score, its associated probability of at least one collapse causing earthquake within next 50 years has been calculated. Two different types of buildings i.e., RCC G+3 building and Load Bearing Masonry building, have been taken as a case study for the calculation of Risk Score using RVS score and its associated vulnerability using the technique as per FEMA for any seismic activity in the next 50 years. Following the calculation of Probability of Collapse under the MCE shaking, RCC plus Masonry Combined Building is found to have the least likelihood of being collapsed under MCE ground shaking, i.e., 0.63%, whereas the Mid-Rise RCC Building shows the highest likelihood of being collapsed under MCE ground shaking i.e., 100%. However, the High- Rise RCC Building has 50% likelihood of being collapsed under MCE ground shaking and Load Bearing Masonry Building have been found to have fairly high likelihood of being collapsed under MCE ground shaking i.e., 63%. Following the calculation of at least one collapse causing earthquake within next 50 years, it has been found that the Load Bearing Masonry building has 3.11% chance of being confronted by an earthquake that can cause collapse. And, the probability of an earthquake causing the RCC G+3 building to collapse over the next 50 years has been calculated to be 1.57 %. The risk score is an indicator of the degree of fatality of the building and it has been calculated that Load Bearing masonry building is 100 times more fatal than the newly constructed Load Bearing masonry building. Therefore, detailed structural evaluation for retrofitting the Load Bearing masonry building to be safe under any seismic activity, is required. Hence, as per the study, the RVS guidelines of FEMA P-154(2015) can be used satisfactorily including permissible limits as per Indian standard for preliminary investigation. Based on which a fair decision regarding the necessity of detailed technical evaluation can be done and the methodology will help in prioritizing the building for detailed structural evaluation and retrofitting recommendations.

For every robotics project, choosing a suitable framework and middleware for software and hardware is a challenging task which may influence the entire project. Robotics applications typically are resource constrained when it comes to computations and memory usage. They are built on different hardware platforms and applied in different domains. Therefore it is hard to introduce a common framework for all types of projects. However, in recent years several new attempts have been made and received attention from both researchers and industry. These frameworks are still under development and need to be extended. This paper discusses the different features that are needed for robotics frameworks and compares some of the available middleware and standards.

This thesis describes the use of peptide aptamers (PA) for the study of Ras signaling in model cell lines. It further describes the initial analysis of biological effects of small molecules identified for their capacity to displace a biologicallyactive PA from H-RasV12. Finally, it offers characterization of DRGn precursors that we hope to be able to use for future studies. To analyze Ras interactions with other proteins and perturbation of signaling pathways, PAs directed towards wt Ras and oncogenic Ras had been selected. PA 105R elicited an interaction phenotype in yeast two–hybrid (Y2H) with H-, K-, and N-Ras. PA HR3C gave an interaction phenotype with H-Ras wt and HrasV12. In PC12 cells, it blocked both wt and oncogenic H-Ras signaling, whereas 105R had little effect on NGF-induced signaling, but inhibited that stimulated by oncogenic Ras. In contrast, in AsPC-1, endogenous oncogenic K-RasD12 is inhibited by 105R, while HR3C is much less effective. Targeted mutation of amino acids located on the surface of H-RasV12, followed by Y2H interaction mating assays, offered the possibility to map the binding sites of the biologically-active Pas. We evaluated biological activity of a number of small molecules selected for their capacity to displace one of the Ras-specific PAs from the target. These studies resulted in the identification of one molecule that may be biologically pertinent. Further studies will be required to develop possible pre-clinical candidates based on these molecules. Finally, we were to implement the PA technology in primary cells derived from rat DRG, and we developed a DRG precursor line that we have maintained in culture for over two years. It is hoped that we use thes precursors for future studies in the PNS

Host innate and acquired immune responses activated following RSV infection have been suspected as contributing to RSV disease. Toll-like receptors (TLRs) activate innate and acquired immunity and are candidates for playing key roles in the host immune response to RSV. Leukocytes express TLRs including TLR2, TLR6, TLR3, TLR4, and TLR7 that can potentially interact with RSV and promote immune responses following infection. Using knockout mice, we have demonstrated that TLR2 and TLR6 signaling in leukocytes can activate innate immunity against RSV by promoting TNF-α, IL-6, CCL2 (MCP-1), and CCL5 (RANTES) production. As previously noted, TLR4 also contributed to cytokine activation (71, 90). Furthermore, we demonstrated that signals generated following TLR2 and TLR6 activation were important for controlling viral replication in vivo. Additionally, TLR2 interactions with RSV promoted neutrophil migration and dendritic cell activation within the lung. Collectively, these studies indicate that TLR2 is involved in RSV recognition and subsequent innate immune activation and may play a role in modulating acquired immune responses through DCs. Despite the fact that RSV is the single most important cause of infant upper respiratory tract disease, there are no licensed vaccines available to prevent RSV disease. We have developed a virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine candidate for RSV. The VLP is composed of the NP and M proteins of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) and a chimera protein containing the cytoplasmic and transmembrane domains of the NDV HN protein and the ectodomain of the human RSV G protein (H/G). BALB/c mice immunized with 10 or 40 μg total VLP-H/G protein by intraperitoneal or intramuscular inoculation stimulated antibody responses to G protein as good as or better than comparable amounts of UV-inactivated RSV. Furthermore, VLP-H/G induced robust CTL responses in vaccinated animals. Immunization with two or even a single dose of these particles resulted in the complete protection of BALB/c mice from RSV replication in the lungs. Upon RSV challenge of VLP-H/G immunized mice, no enhanced pathology in the lungs was observed, although lungs of mice immunized in parallel with formalin-inactivated RSV (FI-RSV) showed the significant pathology that has been previously observed with FI-RSV vaccination. Thus, the VLP-H/G candidate vaccine was immunogenic in BALB/c mice and prevented replication of RSV in murine lungs with no evidence of immunopathology. These data support further development of virus-like particle vaccine candidates for RSV.

Streszczenie:
Web 2.0 tools, namely blogs, wikis, podcasts, and RSS were introduced to change teaching practices of in-service high school teachers to improve the collaboration of today's students in the English language classroom. Two high school teachers of English language and their classes participated. The teachers were interviewed about their current teaching practices and provided with training to develop teaching units that use Web 2.0 to engage students as active collaborators in their learning. They integrated blogs, podcasts, wikis, and RSS into their teaching. Additional interviews were conducted during and after the implementation stage. Implementation strategies, changes in teaching practices, challenges encountered, and the impact on student interaction and collaboration were closely examined. Students were surveyed at the conclusion. Teachers found that Web 2.0 tools made them more efficient in teaching. Blogging was the most powerful tool for journal writing and sharing ideas. Wikis were more difficult to use but were useful to facilitate group planning and collaborative construction of knowledge. Podcasts were useful for publishing audio recordings of interviews, speeches, and poetry recitals. RSS feeds made it easy for teachers and students to track updates on websites, posts on blogs, collaborations on wikis, and audio recordings on podcasts. Both teachers and students enjoyed the interactions and collaboration that took place in the English classroom using Web 2.0 tools.

Streszczenie:
Today's society is characterized by a high degree of change where the manufacturing systems are affected by both internal and external factors. To adapt to current manufacturing requirements in the form of short lead-time, more variants, low and fluctuating volumes, in a cost-efficient manner, new approaches are needed. As the global market and its uncertainties for products and its lifecycles change, a concept called 'reconfigurable manufacturing system' has been developed. The idea is to design a manufacturing system for rapid structural change in both hardware and software to be responsive to capacity and functionality. A company's development towards the concept is often based on a strategy of incremental investments. In this situation, the challenges are to prioritize the right project and maximize the performance as well as the financial efficiency of a multi-approach problem. The report is based on three different issues. Partly how to standardize relevant performance-based metrics to measure current conditions, how new performance-based metrics can be developed in collaboration with reconfigurability characteristics, and set a direction for how decision models can be used to optimize step-based investments. The study is structured as an explorative study with qualitative methods such as semi-structured interviews and document study to get in-depth knowledge. Related literature addresses concepts in search areas such as reconfigurable manufacturing system, key performance indicators, investment decisions, and manufacturing readiness levels. The findings are extracted from interviews and document studies that generate a focal company setting within the automotive industry, which acts as the foundation for further analysis and decisions throughout the thesis. The analysis results in sixteen performance measurements where new measures been created for product flexibility, productionvolume flexibility, material handling flexibility, reconfiguration quality and diagnosability using reconfigurability characteristics. A conceptual decision support model is introduced with an underlying seven-step investment process, analyzing lifecycle cost, risk triggered events in relation to cost, and performance measurements. The discussion chapter describes how different approaches are used during the project that has been revised by internal and external factors. Improvement possibilities regarding method choice and the aspects of credibility, transferability, dependability, and conformability are discussed. Furthermore, the authors argue about the analysis process and how the result has been affected by circumstances and choices. The study concludes that a three-pronged approach is needed to validate the investment decision in terms of system performance changes, cost, and uncertainty. The report also helps to understand which performance-based metrics are relevant for evaluating manufacturing systems based on operational goals and manufacturing requirements.

Streszczenie:
“Retirement Villages” (RVs) are a common form of housing for older people in Australia. RV contracts are very complex. RV residency terminates on death or ill health. At Macquarie we developed a free online RV financial calculator. This is designed to help consumers with understanding the contracts, comparison shopping, and avoiding costly mistakes. It takes account of longevity / health and financial risks. It converts the complex fee structure to a comparison rent payable monthly over the consumers expected healthy lifespan. RVs are much costlier than most consumers expect. The cost varies by gender and increases with age. This tool uses actuarial modelling utilising publicly available data on mortality and disability. The contracts have much in common with insurance policies. This is the first RV calculator available in Australia. The underlying actuarial model is very original and the calculator can handle the vast majority of contract designs.

Streszczenie:
Abstract Based on input from key operators in the Middle East region, a new rotary steerable system (RSS) was launched after a compressed development schedule. This paper describes the development and introduction of the larger tool sizes needed for both onshore and offshore hole sections, including hole sizes from 12 in. and up, in the Middle East. It also outlines the deliberate design of the tool for local assembly and repair. Large diameter (9-1/2 and 11 in.) RSS designs used an existing, smaller design for Middle East applications in both offshore and onshore wells as a basis. When designing these new sizes, engineers took note of lessons learned with smaller sizes of the tool and incorporated design elements for local manufacturing, assembly, and repair. The resulting simple, modular construction enables increased levels of local content and provides for significant reductions in transportation, and therefore associated emissions. Of course, although local content and sustainability are highly desirable, performance is essential, and this paper describes case histories demonstrating how well the new tool worked in real-world Middle East applications. In one notable example, the newly introduced 9 1/2-in. diameter RSS was used to drill an offshore section in the Gulf of Arabia. The tool was mobilized after two older generation RSS had become stuck for days. Consisting primarily of argillaceous limestone, the formation had a history of stuck-pipe events. The new RSS was recommended for this application because of a slicker construction, with a fully rotational bias unit, minimal bottom hole assembly (BHA) stabilization, and an optimized junk slot area, which together help to reduce stuck-pipe risks. The tool drilled to the target depth in a single run, thereby achieving all directional requirements. Notably, after reaching the target depth, the assembly was tripped out of the hole without any requirement for backreaming. This seamless exit, in turn, indicated achieving a smooth wellbore. Other case histories demonstrate results with both new sizes of this tool. The paper also discusses in detail the ability to repair locally and engage the local supply chain. Specifically with Middle East applications in mind, a new, simple RSS design in large diameter versions has demonstrated success in offshore and onshore applications across the region. The design has also proven capabilities for manufacturing and repair local to operations, which enables maximizing in-country value, optimizing use of the tools, and energizing local supply chains.

Streszczenie:
The items that comprise all information produced as parts of the software engineering process are collectively called Software Configuration, and constitute an important resource to the professional that works with software since it should be complete an up-to-date. The existence of an appropriate software configuration that reflects to reality depends on an effective Software Configuration Magement process. The activities involved in the software configuration management process are complex and the necessity of tools to support them comes into view. Usually these tools are too expensive and not available to every one that needs them. The Reviston Control System (RCS), in spite of not being a tool for software configuration management, because it supports only a few activities related with the management process, can be of great help to case this task. Furthermore, RCS is a public domain system. Only difficulty using RCS is related to its interface: usually based on command lines. This work aims at providing a graphic interface to RCS so that this system would be more user friendly. To achieve this, firstly the RCS code was submitted to a process of reverse engincering, using the FUSION-RE method. This method produces object-oriented analysis models (FUSION's models) from procedural code systems. The reverse engineering process provided a more abstract view of the system that was considered in the development of the graphic interface using Xview.

Streszczenie:
Presented at the Second Annual Conference on Global Economic Analysis Recent research in applications of entropy theory to matrix balancing problems in eco-nomics has put powerful new tools in the hands of data base developers, but overshadowed some previous findings. We recall earlier findings that the RAS is an entropy-theoretic model. Investigating the properties of a more recently proposed entropy-theoretic model, we find that in general the RAS remains preferable. We show further that the RAS can be obtained also as a generalised cross-entropy model. Finally, we present examples illus-trating how entropy-theoretic techniques can extend the RAS to handle a wider range of problems.

Docker is a tool designed to make it easier to create, deploy, and run applications by using containers. Containers allow a developer to package and ship out an application with all of the parts it needs, such as libraries and other dependencies. Herein, we investigate using a Docker image to deploy and run our Robot Operating System (ROS)–based payload on a robot platform. Ultimately, this would allow us to quickly and efficiently deploy our payload on multiple platforms.
