Streszczenie:
The paper focuses on the synthesis of semi-passive RFID transponders-sensors that are intended to integrate with active glazing units with built-in photovoltaic cells. The main purpose of the designed construction of the UHF RFID device is to provide diagnostic information in the monitoring system of a photovoltaic micro-power plant. Furthermore, the RFID sensor is aimed at being implemented at various stages of the product life cycle: production, distribution, storage, installation, common operation, service/maintenance and disposal. In the presented research work, particular attention is paid to several aspects of the RFID sensor synthesis: use of the energy, generated periodically in the PV cells, to power the monitoring device that has to act permanently; specification of the PV module parameters that have to be monitored in the diagnostic process; implementation of data acquisition and energy management models in an electrical circuit; wireless data transfer to the master unit (monitoring host), even in the absence of power supply (e.g., module damage, blackout), using a standardized communication protocol IEC 18000-63 used in the RFID technology; and the design of the antenna system taking into consideration limitations of electronic technology and the material properties of substrates and glasses used in PV modules and RFID sensors. Based on the results of the investigations, the modular structure of the RFID sensor demonstrator is proposed. Moreover, several diagnostic scenarios are analyzed in detail. On the basis of the provided considerations, it is shown that in order to find a malfunctioning component, it is enough to compare the voltages on the photovoltaic modules that are in the close vicinity.

The problem considered in the paper concerns the synthesis process of antennas for autonomous semi-passive RFID transponder/sensors dedicated to active glazing units. Glazing units are frequently used in modern multi-storey buildings to create amazing facades. When they are integrated with photovoltaic (PV) modules, active units are obtained. It is desirable, mainly for economic reasons and in order to ensure the high efficiency of a micro-photovoltaic power plant, that active glazing units are equipped with a system for monitoring their operating parameters. In connection with this, design problems occur that fall within the fields of sensor technology and radio communications. The main purpose of the presented study was to prepare appropriate input data for design tools used in the synthesis of antenna systems in the UHF band. Many important issues are considered including: proximity to structural elements of the building facade and PV cells, which disturbs the shape of the radiation pattern and affects the impedance parameters of the antenna system; the need to ensure easy integration of the RFID sensor and the specified object, without significant interference in the production of glazing units; appropriate shaping of the radiation pattern in order to enable reading and writing of the RFID tag from both inside and outside the building; impedance matching to the selected RFID chip in the broadest possible frequency range, etc.

The project's objective is to develop a fully automated security access system for both household and industrial use. Security is a key concern for both individuals and firms. In response to the demand for security, we have created an automated security access system that is easy for users to navigate. Automation is the most commonly written word in the domain of electronics. The need for automation has sparked numerous technological breakthroughs. RF communications is one of the technologies that has experienced significant advancements. The outcome of this process is the production of RFID cards that transmit a distinct identifying number. The RFID number can be detected using an RF reader. The level of access to the house or industry might be granted in its entirety or restricted based on the RFID cards. The determination of granting either full access or limited access is made by an onboard computer that is connected to the RF reader. The doors of the house/industry serve as the output module and are connected to the onboard computer via a motor. This onboard computer has a variety of input and output ports. The word typically used to refer to the onboard computer is microcontroller. The controller's input and output ports are connected to various input and output modules based on specific needs. Put simply, the microcontroller serves as a means of communication amongst all the modules in the project. The device is equipped with an LCD screen that provides information regarding the status of the doors, whether they are open or closed.

Resource following alludes to the technique for following noticeable resources by examining scanner tag labels appended to products or utilizing GPS, BLE or RFID to send area labels. RFID labels can spread their area, however the transmission distance is restricted (a couple of meters). Resources can be followed by manual examining of scanner tags, (for example, QR codes). You can check a QR code utilizing a cell phone with a camera and a committed program, just as a standardized identification reader. Yet, the entirety of this has its impediments. In our system the user can be able to track the location of the asset once it has been moved in a long distance or stolen. This project utilizes long distance RF communication modules such as LoRa modules which provide long distance communication in terms of kilometres. The LoRa modules can be distributed across the city for tracking of the asset. As the asset moves around the city, the location of that asset is been transmitted to a nearby LoRa which is then transmitted to the mobile app developed independently for tracking the asset

Abstract: Over the years, the number of vehicles has increased dramatically, which has led to serious problems such as traffic jams, accidents, and many other problems, as cities turn into smart cities. In recent years, traffic jams have become one of the main challenges for engineers and designers to create an intelligent traffic management system capable of effectively detecting and reducing the overall density of traffic in most urban areas. This paper presents an intelligent traffic control system to pass emergency vehicles smoothly. Each individual vehicle is equipped with special RFID tag (placed at a strategic location), which makes it impossible to remove or destroy. We use RFID reader, NSK EDK-125–TTL and PIC16F877A system-on-chip to read the RFID tags attached to the vehicle. It counts number of vehicles that passes on a particular path during a specified duration. It also determines the network congestion, and hence the green light duration for that path. If the RFID-tag-read belongs to the stolen vehicle, then a message is sent using GSM SIM300 to the police control room. Also, when an ambulance is approaching the junction, it will communicate to the traffic controller in the junction to turn on the green light. This module uses ZigBee modules on CC2500 and PIC16F877A system-on-chip for wireless communications between the ambulance and traffic controller. The prototype was tested under different combinations of inputs in our wireless communication laboratory and experimental results were found as expected. Keywords: ZigBee, CC2500, GSM, SIM300, PIC16F877A, Ambulance Vehicle, Stolen Vehicle, Congestion Control, Traffic Junction.

An All-Digital Phase-Locked Loop (ADPLL) is an architecture that is widely employed in the communication system due to the advancement of the Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) technology process. A 2.4GHz Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system needs a frequency synthesizer in the local oscillator architecture of the transceiver to generate a stable frequency tuning range Therefore, in this paper, a Digital Phase-Frequency Detector (DPFD) is designed to achieve the phase and frequency acquisition in the ADPLL system. The proposed DPFD is divided into two main parts, the first is the Phase Detector (PD) and the second is the Frequency Detector (FD). The PD has managed to detect the presence of the phase difference by recognizing two different input signals. The FD, on the other hand, is capable to detect the higher frequency by identifying the output signals from the PD in digital formation. In addition, a control unit module is developed to control and adjust the Preset Word (PW) for the system by using a binary search scheme. Comparison results show that the final value of the PW from the simulation is the same as from the manual calculation (theoretical values). The digital PFD and the PW control modules are designed and simulated by using Verilog HDL code. These two designed modules will be integrated into the targeted ADPLL to achieve fast locking performance and ultra-low power for Ultra-High Frequency (UHF) RFID applications.

In order to respond the growing interest towards radio frequency identification textile transponders, the authors propose a new approach to design radio frequency identification (RFID) devices by introducing the RFIDtex concept. The coupling system of inductive loops is implemented in the textronic structure with the RFID interface in order to split the transponder into two independently manufactured components. Then both modules can be easily integrated into the RFIDtex tag. The presented simulation and measurement results prove the concept of manufacturing a relatively small antenna in the form of a meandered dipole sewn in with a single thread, and further, that can be connected to the RFID chip through the coupling system without galvanic junctions. The achieved parameters clearly indicate that the tag can correctly communicate with the read/write device as well as the coupling between its both parts works properly, and the impedance matching is possible in this case. The possibility of confectioning products with electronic identification tags at the textile factory site and improved resistance to the impact of environmental conditions are the main advantage of the proposed approach to the RFID devices designing. The RFIDtex transponder idea proposed by the authors was restricted in the patent no PL 231291 B1.

Conventional bio-probes are produced on a silicon substrate, they are not only fragile but unable to dispose according to the profile of human body in a large area manner, and thus the contact resistance between probe and skin may be increased. Besides, the signal processing devices are required to improve both S/N ratio and impedance matching problems. This paper proposes a novel remote human health monitor and an active RFID tag with replaceable non-frangible probes and thin-film-transistor (TFT) amplifiers. The probes are made of bio-degradable polymer (photo resist) and covered with bio-compatible TiN. In addition, we use two pieces of double sides conducting tapes to connect both TFT amplifiers and probe modules. Thus the probe module can be replaced easily by peeling the used probe module away from the double sides conducting tapes to supply a new one. Since the tag is a flexible plastic substrate, e, g. PT, PET and PI, so the probes are easier to deploy and conform to the human body profile. In addition, the signal can be amplified by the TFT amplifier nearby to improve both S/N ratio and impedance matching. Thus the human health conditions can be remotely monitored by measuring various acupuncture impedances via the active RFID tag. The active RFID monitoring range is 15m by using 2.45 GHz ISM band, the probe resistance and parasitic capacitance are as 2735 Ω and 60.7 pf, respectively. Since the typical human acupuncture point resistance is about 40-120KΩ, thus the proposed device and system can be applied.

Abstract The commoditization of integrated circuits has revolutionized the world of IoT based networks. Supply chain management relies heavily on the application of passive RFID tags for inventory management. However, this technology is outdated and does not provide real-time monitoring for warehouse administration. Moreover, due to the high error rate of traditional passive RFIDs, active RFIDs are graded higher in terms of operational efficiency. The biggest challenge in the deployment of active RFIDs in inventory systems is high power consumption. The passive RFIDs were favored due to their lack of dependency on an internal power supply. The inception of low power long range radio modules has fully transformed the range of applications for active RFIDs. The long range low power active RFIDs are used to develop IoT ecosystems for the purpose of creating a smart supply chain management system. In this research, the hierarchical wireless mesh network consists of three levels; the end node, the concentrator and the gateway. The model takes advantage of low power long range radios to design a system that can monitor and track inventory in a warehouse. The unique circuit has small and compact properties that has the potential to be deployed in real life warehouses.

In this paper, a security-monitoring system for tiny relics is proposed, which is used to improve the reliability and stability of the museum security system nowadays. This paper analyzed the security-monitoring system of most of the museums in China, and two defects have been discovered. One is that there is almost no security facility which can provide special protection for tiny relics. The other is that there is no effective way to retrieve rare and valuable relics missing in the museum. The security-monitoring system for tiny relics can make up for these weaknesses by integrating two modules, alarm module and position module. Using reed switch as sensitive element, added with chip PT2262, the alarm module can sense micro movement and send position code to central computer wirelessly. Meanwhile, adopting radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for indoor location, position module can provide precise track of moving objects in museums. Combined with traditional security-monitoring, this system can achieve the best protection for tiny relics.

The paper presents the structure of a control system incorporated into a process line for the production of documents secured with RFID labels. The line enables a flexible and easy manufacture of goods with different shapes and sizes in a low-cost experimental production undertaken to meet the needs of continuing improvement of prototypes and short series of innovative products with increased durability and higher level of security, which is possible to be obtained due to the application of electronic and graphical protection systems [1]. The line is intended for the assembly of multilayer documents. The documents are made of a raw stock in form of paper web, an RFID inlay and a protective film which all are glued together with the use of cold gluing and hot-melt techniques or in which a transfer tape with an adhesive film is applied. The tape and the elements mounted on it are transported and stopped by drive modules, whereas maintenance procedures are executed by actuators. These modules initiate proper strain of the tape, and as a result the material is flattened and a stable distance between the elements mounted on it is preserved. In the case of a start-stop operation and close distances between individual guide rollers, a proper tape strain and the time-space synchronization of all the modules constitute an important aspect of the control over the flexible technological system.

We present a discrete event simulation model reproducing the adoption of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for the optimal management of common logistics processes of a Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) warehouse. In this study, simulation is exploited as a powerful tool to replicate both the reengineered RFID logistics processes and the flows of Electronic Product Code (EPC) data generated by such processes. Moreover, a complex tool has been developed to analyze data resulting from the simulation runs, thus addressing the issue of how the flows of EPC data generated by RFID technology can be exploited to provide value-added information for optimally managing the logistics processes. Specifically, an EPCIS compliant Data Warehouse has been designed to act as EPCIS Repository and store EPC data resulting from simulation. Starting from EPC data, properly designed tools, referred to as Business Intelligence Modules, provide value-added information for processes optimization. Due to the newness of RFID adoption in the logistics context and to the lack of real case examples that can be examined, we believe that both the model and the data management system developed can be very useful to understand the practical implications of the technology and related information flow, as well as to show how to leverage EPC data for process management. Results of the study can provide a proof-of-concept to substantiate the adoption of RFID technology in the FMCG industry.

<p>This paper proposes an attendance system for increasing the security based on Shamir Secret Share algorithm. The use of RFID devices for classroom attendance is still vulnerable to certain attacks. Students usually make use of existing loopholes for prohibited things, such as forged attendance. Shamir Secret Share is a security method based on the Secure Multiparty Computation (SMC) concept. The SMC guarantees not only the confidentiality of external attacks but also of each member in the secure system. In the attendance scenario using Shamir Secret Share, a student and a lecturer must do tapping at the same time; otherwise, the secret that opens the lock for attendance at that class will not be opened. To realize this system, this paper uses two RFID modules, each of which is connected to one nodeMCU microcontroller. Both systems are connected to a database where the Shamir Shared Secret calculation is performed. Some experiment has been implemented for proving the concept. A typical honeybee colony contains more than 15,000 individuals, each with its own task related to supporting the hive and maintaining the colony. In previous studies on honeybees, observing individual animals’ behaviors has been a difficult and time-consuming task to understand the relationship between in-hive communication and environmental changes outside the hive, therefore it is necessary in any attempt to develop applying a remote sensing technology. To allow researchers to pass much of this tracking work on to computers, we have developed the lifelog monitoring system for honeybees, which uses RFID and Raspberry Pi camera recordings. Our preliminary experiments consisted of several tests aimed at identifying the optimal conditions for this system. First, two commercial RFID readers with antennas were compared in terms of their sensitivity to signals from RFID tags placed at various distances. We found that the UP16-1000-J2 reader was much more sensitive and had a longer effective range compared to the UP4-200-J2. The most sensitive region in the RFID antenna on the UP16-1000-J2 reader was 30 mm long and 5 mm wide at its center. Based on this preliminary information, we designed and built a passage from the interior of the observation hive to the outside so that all RFID-tagged bees could be detected individually by the RFID reader as they walked through the passage. Moreover, to detect the direction of either departure or arrival of each bee, we placed two RFID antennas under the passage between the observation hive and the outside, one near each end of the passage. All departure and arrival times of RFID-tagged bees were detected with their ID numbers. Using recorded data from these two RFID readers, we could measure how much time each tagged bee spent outside the hive. In addition to RFID recording on the passage, we also tracked all in-hive movements of numbered RFID-tagged honeybees. In-hive movements were simultaneously, comprehensively and automatically recorded via six Raspberry Pi camera modules arranged on the two sides of the observation hive. The cameras were set to record from 6:30 to 19:30 every day for one month, once or twice each year from 2015 to 2018. The in-hive behaviors of these bees were analyzed according to a simultaneous tracking algorithm that we developed for this purpose. Data from the monitoring system revealed that time spent outside the hive increased markedly after following the waggle dance. In addition to its findings on bee behavior, this study also confirms the effectiveness of our recording system combining RFID and Raspberry Pi cameras for honeybee lifelog monitoring.

The subject of a distributed RFID system with proximity-range read/write devices (RWD) is considered in this paper. Possible work scenarios were presented in the scope of industrial implementations and were then tested in a dedicated laboratory set. The development system is based on a high-frequency RWD integrated with a Wi-Fi microcontroller unit to create an Internet of things connected with a server (for data exchanging, user interface, etc.) via a wireless local area network. In practical applications, in order to increase the interrogation zone (IZ), there is a tendency to use one RWD with significant output power equipped with a multiplexer for managing several antennas located in the operational space. Such a solution is often economically unprofitable and even impossible to implement, especially in the case of the need to create the large IZ. Responding to market demand, the authors propose a distributed system developed on the basis of several cheap RFID reader modules and a few freely available hardware/software tools. They created the fully functional RFID platform and confirmed its usefulness in static and dynamic systems of object identification.

This study uses a microcontroller to design a student attendance monitoring system digitally by identifying student code from the RFID Tag. The system is designed using RFID and NodeMCU modules which will be sent to the MySQL database and will be displayed on the website page. The test results from 100 data obtained 100% identification success with an average reading distance of 4cm. of 100 presence test data, the system can store data with 100% accuracy for the corresponding data, and can read the presence of errors with 100% accuracy.
