Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis considers musical representation as a concrete form of mental representation, just as verbal language or image representation. We are questioning which are the particularities of musical representation in human thought. Why does man need musical representation, what are the origins of music and what functions does music serve in human societies ? Which are the differences of the musical code from the code of verbal language ? The first part of our thesis approaches these questions through an interdisciplinary study. Furthermore, we are interested in the elementary structures of musical discourse : rythm, melody and harmony. In the second part of this thesis, we locate the origins of musical rythm in physical body rythms, and the origins of musical melody in the preverbal voice - concretely in the mother's voice. Musical harmony is considered as an artistic application of the universal laws of the acoustic phenomene. In the third part of this thesis the musical code is analysed, as a form of mental representation which encodes meaning and emotion : we attribute to the musical code the capacity to encode, better than language does, not concrete information but inner affective states and body sensations, as well as the experience of human relation. We name sonograms, in analogy to Piera Aulagnier's pictograms, the musical proto-representations which would encode precicely an affective state felt in utero by hormonal circulation associated to a concrete sonor pattern listened by the fetus at the same time. We examine, furthermore, how sonograms would evolve to more elaborated forms of musical representation, that we name fond musical structures (rythm, melody and harmony) and, finaly, to the sophisticated musical code. We consider this latter musical code as a reflection of the subjectivation of the individual, which encodes precicely the human experience of relation, from the initial phase of symbiosis with the mother to the phase of complete autonomy of the child from her. Music is considered as a form of mental representation which may also reflect the eventual pathological aspects of the psychic apparatus, and it is compared to dreaming, to the primary process and the unconscious. In the fourth part of this thesis, we expose the libidinal investment of the subject which takes place through music : the relation of music to narcissism, but also to object investment is questioned. How does sublimation occur in the artistic field, and what is the particularity of musical sublimation ? The sublimation of Eros, but also of Thanatos is analysed in the reality of musical creation, through concrete musical examples. Finally, in the fifth part of our thesis we are investigating the way in which music, as a form of mental representation, could be integrated into psychoanalytical clinical practice. We are describing our protocol of Analytical Musicodrama, a concrete method of musical implication into psychoanalytical clinical practice, both in individual and group analysis. In this protocol, we are using the musical code, which we alternate with verbal language but also with the image representation code, aiming to access thoughs, affective states and the psychological reality of our patients. We are afterwards working on this reality through musical representation. We are also interested in neo-symbolisation which can take place for the subject by means of sonor sensoriality, and could afterwards be encoded into music. Different applications of Analytical Musicodrama and its therapeutic results are illustrated, trough the exposition of various clinical examples

Pełny tekst źródłaA number of qualitative and quantitative surveye have allowed the author to analyse the contents and the structure of what appears in the from of a system (complex) of multifaceted hierarchical social representations (well-being in one's home, thermic confort in winter or summer). This study puts into play and collates analytical techniques of the numerous data (analyses of similarity, factorial and discriminant analyses. . . ). A certain number of methodological contributions will be proposed (index of centrality c, cohesice force. . . ). The results substantiate the hypotheses. On one hand wa have found a relationship of reciprocity between the representation of thermic comfort in winter, well-being in one's home, and consumer habits in heating (measured). On the other hand, the operative proximity of the representation of wintertime thermic comfort, as concerns consumption of heat, entails a predictive capacity of the latter which is superior to that of one's comfort in his home. In short the social representation of well-being at home would seem to be the representation of "the mother" which guarantees the essential aspect of cohesion and coherence of the representational whole, as well as the principal point of the common foundation of the contents

On one hand, the fundamental causal relation is a relation of transfer of an amount of a conserved quantity, taking place between two events. On the other hand, the fact that a is f is said to be "causally responsible" for the fact that b is g if and only if the event a has the property f, the event b has the property g, a is the cause of b and a law of nature links the properties f and g. We use these conceptual tools in order to respond to two questions which are central to the philosophy of mind. Can mental properties - e. G. Beliefs - pretend to be causally efficacious firstly in spite of their relational character (they are attitudes toward a content) and secondly although the underlying properties of the brain seem to condemn them to the status of epiphenomena ? the second question we tackle is whether it is possible to explain the fact that representations have a well determined content, on the basis of the causal relations between the representational system and its environment

The author claims that these relations are made up by two basic ties, representation and reference, operations which are different but at the same time complete each other. The essay looks into both operations after another. Representation is inherent in lexical, and is made up by an intentional link set between meanings and the extra-linguistic world, a link shared by the speakers of a language. Representation is structured independantly from any speech act, by a net of oppositions we conventionally call lexical space, and it is in itself free from every ontological implications regarding the existence of any entity. It can however be related to several types of extensions and the essay is propounding a classification of them. On the other hand reference necessarily requires a speech act, preformed by an individual, thus allowing the achievement of a referential sign. Such a kind of sign may be either formal or real, and cannot be separated from any ontological involvment. The work propounds a classification of the levels of reference, that is of the entities of all kinds that may be identified by a sign of that kind. The essay ends with a new inquiry into the problem of intersubjectivity

Hernandez, we give different constructions of integrable representations called extremal loop weight representations. By specializing the quantum parameter, we get finite-dimensional representations of quantum toroidal algebras at roots of unity. The first construction uses the monomial crystals. We read into the monomials occurring in the monomial realizations of extremal crystals in term of q-characters of representations over the quantum toroidal algebra (via promotion operators). In the second construction, the extremal loop weight representations are obtained by fusion product of I-highest weight representations and 1-lowest weight representations (theaction being defined via the Drinfeld coproduct). We also give a construction via the affinization algebra of type A infinity and its combinatorial link with the quantum toroidal algebras

The study of specific strategies used in the reconstruction of the meaning of the message has confirmed the participation of individuals in the establishment of different reception contracts: the video was considered either as»training" or as an "information" contract. The influence of the learners' previous acquisitions in orienting the established contracts proves fundamental. Each contract determines a specific relation to knowledge developed by the individual with the object represented on the video. In dealing with video, a learner could privilege his previous acquisitions, and mobilize representations and actions models that could sometimes screen the specificity of the object presented on the video. The most frequently adopted position in the group concerned the elaboration of new representations and action models, specific to the object represented in video. These new constructions revealed the association of acquisitions with certain elements spotted in the video and extracted from it to be integrated in a different organisation

The thesis is divided into three parts: generalized cylinders and their images, CAD (Computer Aided Design) models, range images measured with a laser rangefinder. In the first part, the differential geometry of straight homogeneous generalized cylinders (SHGC's) is studied. The results obtained are used to prove several new uniqueness results, to characterize the silhouette of SHGC's, and to prove several properties of the contours of these objects which are independent from the viewing direction. These properties are used in turn for image segmentation. A CAD system is described in the second part. Complex solids are obtained by combining SHGC's through set operations. A hierarchical data structure is used to compute the set operations in an efficient and robust manner. The system described includes fast and powerful rendering algorithms and tools for building and modifying easily primitives and complex objects. In the third part, range images are represented at different scales by their principal curvatures and directions. An analytical representation of range discontinuities is used to segment these images. A graph of smooth surfaces separated by these discontinuities is built, and these surfaces are described by their lines of curvature, by planar and spherical regions, and by certain types of generalized cylinders

By adopting a cross-disciplinary approach, we hope to contribute to changing our views of the very notion of management. This involves outlining the managerial function and defining its intervening domains with more accuracy. For that purpose, a historical approach has been adopted because of history’s ability to deconstruct facts. The field of investigation retained is narrative fiction. The analysis bears on the representation of the managerial function as shown by the French cinema since its beginnings. By delving into the various aspects of management present in the imagination of a nation, we have been able to pinpoint a few unvarying elements which demonstrate the extent to which management exerts an appeal on fiction whilst engendering interrogation and even criticism. The managerial attributes identified in the narrative accounts and images offered by the French cinema also allow the analyst to formalize different profiles of action and assess their variations. By contextualizing a few managerial aspects depicted by films from different periods, we have defined the notion of period definition. Far from being linear in nature, the representations of management in the French cinema go though various evolutions and breaks which enable us to identify three eras: Capital and Labor, or the time of direct confrontation (1895-1913), Professional Managers, or the rise of competing legitimacies in the rationalized company, (1914-1948), A private Game, or management as a field for personal ambitions, (1948-2005). In the research process, the recourse to history and fiction in a managerial perspective has rendered the formalization of their methodological frameworks obligatory. One of the derived benefits is a hybrid didactic and conceptual tool susceptible to respond to management-related analytical issues

Our goal is to understand how the place of the film spectator is determined over time and by the perpetual reconfiguration of the filmic point of view, by analyzing how fiction films reflect an initial spectatorial vantage point in front of theatrical performances or theatrical profilmic forms withinthe filmic reality. In order to make out how the filmic diegesis combines mimetic and narrative acts, the traditional Japanese theatrical practices serve as privileged objects of analysis by virtue of their characteristics: the three-dimensional use of space, the marked partition between modes of enunciation, the “presentational” relationship to theatrical reality, etc. Thus, the exploration of a wide range of examples of theatrical performances in Japanese fiction films allow us to identify how theviewpoint of the extra-filmic spectator, sometimes delegated to the one of a diegetic substitute, is determined by the construction of the filmic reality thanks to the combination of staging, framing and editing

On the one hand to provide some points for discussion with regards to the professional representation theory which remains an underdeveloped field of study in social psychology. For this first aim, we try (i) to highlight the specific and common features between social and professional representations and (ii) to explore the variables that may have an impact on the development of professional representations. On the other hand, the second purpose is to bring practical knowledge about hygiene in order to improve compliance with protocols in public and private organizations. To achieve those two objectives, we tested the effect of three variables: type of training, level of knowledge and frequency of practices. Professionals and nonprofessionals (researchers and technicians) participated in the study which took place in a questionnaire in the form of a verbal association task. Data processing was carried out by three additional analyses: prototypical, similitude analysis and three-compenential analysis. These results showed important distinctions despite a shared knowledge basis. We observed an impact of every tested variable which translated into a significant development of professional representations (contents and structures). We finished with (i) the advance of the thoughts related to the special features of professional representations compared with social representations and (ii) the impact of outcomes related to hygiene on professional trainings

Here, he skilfully organizes both language and structure, and their interpretation is particularly complex. In the work of tournier, a philosophy enthusiast, the transition from metaphasics to the novel is provided by myths. Thus each of tournier's novels develops along two levels which reconcile realism and myth : the obvious content takes place in the world of today, or in a historically dated period, while the latent content refers back to the original myths. The teaching of the melody notation is studied in two different educational situations: within general musical teaching and in a music school. With not-musicians children, meta-language should be considered as a complement of the spontaneous graphical expressions that emerge following a short musical piece. We will characterize the degree of inscription in temporality of these spontaneous graphical expressions. With children of music schools, such a meta-language is considered as a mediator allowing an easier resolution of the tasks required by musical teaching. We therefore develop the idea that the existence of such a mental representation of the melody, which takes support on a verbal representation (meta-language), improves the efficiency of the teaching of musical notation. This process facilitates the transition of a primary mode of musical knowledge, (vocal execution) to a graphical representation of the music

In a second step, we studied the influence of expertise and culture of participants on the representations of wine as a social object, in relation to the distance to the object. Thus, we endeavored to establish a methodological triangulation strategy, in order to take into account the different factors that can influence the representational dynamics. All our results demonstrate the significant influence of expertise on the representations of wine, as well as the need to take into account the distance to the object as factor involved in the representational dynamics. Beyond expertise, it seems that it is the culture of participants that determines the representational construction of the social object wine. Our results are discussed in terms of theoretical contributions on culture and wine expertise

Pełny tekst źródłaVideo games simulate the informational complexity of reality. In this task, it is subject to the calculation limits of the digital machine. Unconsciously, and as the machine evolves, the video game rewrites a history of architectural representation by seeking its optimum: the most effective architectural design figure to display the information that makes it playable. The figures generated by the two disciplines allow us to demonstrate that video games restore a form of habitability in the architect's project. It is defined above all as an architectured two-dimensional representation. The BIM model that integrates the physical data of the material is the only figure in the architectural project that has not yet been exploited by video games. In the experimental part of this study, we will undertake the realization of a game that tests our hypotheses: RUCKBALL. We will try to understand the modalities of the architectural project in this bodyless environment. We will observe the current limitations of reality simulation in this field. Finally, we will conclude by formulating a prospective study on the future of these two disciplines

If one accepts on the one hand the notion of mental states that have a given content - conscious or unconscious - and on the other hand the plausible hypothesis that the content of all mental states consists in a representation, then the problem of the manifestation of consciousness for (the content of) SOME states becomes intelligible within this frame. This problem can be understood as the research of the representational structure which gives rise to this manifestation. For some authors ( Fred Dretske, Michael Tye, and others) certain particular conditions in the direct representation of the object are sufficient, for others (particularly David Rosenthal) a meta-representation is necessary, under given conditions. However neither of those structures results sufficient to justify the demarcation between conscious and unconscious states and to characterize the phenomenality of consciousness. If one then takes seriously into account the strong intuition of self-referentiality of consciousness (already present in Aristotle - following some interpretations -, taken up again by Brentano, Sartre, and lately by Uriah Kriegel and several others) one is conducted to propose a self-representational structure for conscious mental states which involves a dual conscious intentionality targeting the object and itself at the same time. The problems of the meta-representational theory are thus resolved, but it remains to be shown that this scheme is intelligible, that the risk of infinite regress of the representing capacity of consciousness does not exist, and that strong intuitions are thus acknowledged : such as the distinction in the conscious field between foreground and background, and the link between background, or marginal consciousness, and self consciousness. Within the self-representational view, this link originates from the fact that marginal consciousness is the consciousness of the consciousness of the object, and qualifies itself as subjective consciousness, that is to say, consciousness "for me" of the object. Self consciousness is then constructed from the episodes of subjective consciousness. The relationship between conscious mental representational structures and the spatio-temporal neuronal configurations which produce them in the brain, is outside the domain of the present work, but it is necessarily present in the background, and it is considered when useful for the argument

Pełny tekst źródłaWhether it deals with paintings and etchings or hieroglyphics, the novel is marked by a multiplicity of representations. Literary representation turns out to be under the rule of the principle of narcissism, which governs all the duplicates and mirroring effects in Melville fiction. The play of the writing allows the representation of the self according to a process which destroys the narcissistic plenitude of the "infans" subject but contributes at the same time to constitute the subject. But as a written mark, the letter is far from establishing a pre-determined relation with the object it refers to, and allows a fundamental indeterminacy. Such a conception contributes to the deconstruction of a traditional and theological vision of the production of the writing. The problem of representation cannot be separated from that of meaning and of the deciphering of sings. Moby-dick shows the process of the interpretation of an image or a text : meaning is not given, but has to be constructed by the interpret. In this sense Melville text can be considered as the representation of a linguistic system, in this case culioli's enunciative theory

This thesis intends to study, trough the metaphor of the mirror, the work of people involved in the theatre and the way the audience respond to it. We noticed that theatre is not a plain mirror ; the reproduction of the world on stage can be only a deformation of reality. This deformation varies according to various parameters and obeys a law. The spectator has to be aware of it. Thus, the spectator includes himself in the performance as an active producer of theatre work. This leads to a complex reflection between the stage and the audience and within the audience alike. In conformity with a theory of mirrors, spectators communicate together, they percieve and understand together the meaning of the performance, but they do it in differents ways. The synthesis occurs outside of the theater. From this point of view, the spectator has to take a stand in relation to the theatre and the world, that is to say, a committment related to his own memory and to the collective memory of theatre history. We deduced from this study that an education of the spectator's eye will make the spectator change himself into the performance's mirror

Common institutions were created, as well as a community law that harmonised the laws of the member states and recognised supranational citizenship. However, can we say that the european community really exists? Doesn’t it also requires the existence of a common representation that brings together the people who have walked through their stories to the rhythm of conflicts? Is there a feeling of co-belonging in Europe? This thesis argues that the unidentified political object that is the European Union cannot be the object of representation if it does not assume its europeanity. In other words, the existence of a consolidated european political community is here conditional on the representation of european identity, that is, on the existence of a set of shared references that consequently unify the differences that make up the territory. Therefore, on a first approach, the relationships between Europe and the space-time dimensions are questioned. These will then allow us to bring out the characteristic features of europeanity that form an european style. This european style will then be associated with political construction, the same way that contents must be associated with form. This will then be the time to question the European political models so that we may know, between nation state or Empire, which is most appropriate to the european style

Pełny tekst źródłaSegmentation is a crucial task in image analysis. Novel acquisition devices bring new images with higher resolutions, containing more heterogeneous objects. It becomes also easier to get many images of an area from different sources. This phenomenon is encountered in many domains (e.g. remote sensing, medical imaging) making difficult the use of classical image segmentation methods. Hierarchical segmentation approaches provide solutions to such issues. Particularly, the Binary Partition Tree (BPT) is a hierarchical data-structure modeling an image content at different scales. It is built in a mono-feature way (i.e. one image, one metric) by merging progressively similar connected regions. However, the metric has to be carefully thought by the user and the handling of several images is generally dealt with by gathering multiple information provided by various spectral bands into a single metric. Our first contribution is a generalized framework for the BPT construction in a multi-feature way. It relies on a strategy setting up a consensus between many metrics, allowing us to obtain a unified hierarchical segmentation space. Surprisingly, few works were devoted to the evaluation of hierarchical structures. Our second contribution is a framework for evaluating the quality of BPTs relying both on intrinsic and extrinsic quality analysis based on ground-truth examples. We also discuss about the use of this evaluation framework both for evaluating the quality of a given BPT and for determining which BPT should be built for a given application. Experiments using satellite images emphasize the relevance of the proposed frameworks in the context of image segmentation

The first part examines his artistic development before and after his coming to venice and his relashionship with the society that welcomed him there, at the height of the renaissance. The second part deals with the great adventure of christian art from its infancy in the catacombs to the elaborate constructions in which veronese excelled. The subject of the third part is the attitude of the council of trent towards christian art, which led to veronese's trial. Veronese's religions inspiration and its influence on his style of painting are treated in the fourth part, in which several works, painted both before and after the trial, are analysed. In spite of his theological shortcomings, veronese, guided by his spiritual empiricism and his intuitive devotion, helps the spectator to approach and understand the christian mystery

Indeed, as it allows for the affirmation of the fundamental principles related to the sovereignty of the people ; it also sets in place the tools necessary to work out the exercise of its functions and representation establishes the legitimacy of the democratic state. The institutional changes brought about in France by the regime of the 5th Republic, have led to a change in the way traditional political representation is viewed. The wish to see the arrival of a concrete democracy added to the end of the system of the primacy of law, has meant a modification of the representative process. Since then, the primacy of the law seems to be understood in relation to the priority of the Constitution, which has become a frame of reference for power, and an anthropological basis, allowing individuals to establish their poiltical identity

Pełny tekst źródłaIt is common to assert that a document represents property: a bill of exchange is said to represent a receivable, a bill of lading to represent goods, a book-entry account to represent a security or a depositary receipt to represent shares, etc. These are therefore “documents of title”. However, what does this mean? Is it a genuine mechanism to represent property by documents in private law or is it a misnomer? First, a study of such documents will establish the existence of legal representation of property by certificates in private law, equivalent to the representation of persons. However, it would seem not to bea unitary mechanism and a distinction must therefore be made between two techniques of legal representation of property by documents: the direct representation of property by a document and the indirect representation of a set of properties assembled in a fiduciary trust by certificates. Next, an analysis of implementation of the legal representation of property by certificates in private law, conducted to test the relevance of the theory, shows that it is not always possible to create any type of such documents freely for any kind of property. Such freedom applies only to documents that are directly representative of certain property. A study of the implementation of this mechanism also emphasizes that the creation of a document of title leads to difficulties that may be overcome by enacting some rules

To defend the moral and material interests of this population group, several organizations have emerged. Long confined to the UNEF, the landscape of student representation is now plural and divided. These student organizations with representative vocation, better known under the name of "student unions" are a unique local and national representation model. Although structured as associations of 1901 law, they face the undeniable influence of social law. This influence is notably the emergence of an ambiguous association model, oscillating between unionism and associationism, and a pregnant competitive dimension, articulated around a voting system to determine the representativeness of each organization. The attraction operated by the labor law is also evident in that the positive law gives students a collective right of action that allows organizations to deploy a militant action comparable to that of trade unions. Present study was therefore designed to provide a comprehensive legal analysis of the students in vocation representative organizations and standards that apply to them while relying on the attraction is the social right

Pełny tekst źródłaInformation systems are in continuous development since their creation. Using these systems offers the possibility to information access and treatment. Although, the general operation is always the same: gathering non-described, unreferenced, and unoriginal data, as well as the difficulty in accessing updated data. . . We do not know where the searched information is, or who created it. The time and the number of intermediate persons that are necessary for data search, reduce the circulation of information. This is true in all domains including the medical domain. The communication of shared and temporal information remains an important problem. Our study on current systems showed three main limitations that increase the information dispersal on the same domain. The first problem is that the current interfaces do not correspond to user needs and work. The second problem is that some of information systems do not communicate. This makes impossible to generate an overall view of the information which are connected to the same project. Finally the third problem concerns the information access that requires the access to diverse resources. These last ones are generally heterogeneous within the syntax or semantic level. Complex ontologies containing thousands of terms are created to resolve the semantic conflicts. Nevertheless, the syntax and the unique data structure remain a difficult problem to be resolved. Essentially, our contribution consists in cooperating heterogeneous information systems. For this reason, we propose semantic mediation architecture. Domain meta-ontology and task meta-ontology are associated to assure the information sources convergence. We also use annotations and metadata that facilitate the information resources description in order to make correspondences between them, to resolve conflicts and finally to exploit the data themselves. The second part of our contribution concerns a new tool of graphic and chronological visualization. This system allows to represent on a temporal component the information related to a given domain, and also to show the needed and the authorized information to the user. We develop these proposals by illustrating them in an application domain that presents many complexity factors: medical information systems. Our proposals were validated throughout two prototypes development: the OR (Object Reconstruction) prototype and the Travel’In prototype
