Pełny tekst źródłaIn order to explain the articulation between the productive system (employment) and the education system (formation), our study consists in examining certain aspects of the operation of the Tunisian labour market. The number of unemployed, which does not cease increasing, explains that the productive system is not able to ensure adequate employment for outgoing system of formation. This established fact imposes an interrogation on the development of the education system and the degree of the evolution of employment in the productive system. From this point of view, this work will comprise three parts. The first consists in focusing on some theoretical and methodological tools likely to help understand the relations between the formation and employment. The second part aims at studying the structure of the education system, its evolution, its dynamics, its internal output like its articulation and its relationship to the economy. As for the last part, it is devoted to the study of the request of work, starting from an investigation carried out in three sectors (clothes industry, hotel trade and NTIC) and according to two types of companies (one with Tunisian capital and the other with foreign one). This work reveals that the remarkable development of the human capital does not aim to satisfy the productive system but rather to answer an increasing social request. Although the educational level of the working population increased, the qualifications of employment either evolve very slowly or almost not. In the same way, the culture and the tradition of the Tunisian company still cling to outdated working methods. This situation translates the difficulty of insertion of the graduates

Pełny tekst źródłaThe goal of the research is to promote an analysis of the links between education and work which takes in account the constraints upon the labor supply strategy, through the policy of the firms in relation to the manpower. The thesis is organized in three parts: empirical situation, analysis of the theories, production of empirical and theoretical results. The first part realises an evaluation of the french experience in skilled manpower needs forecasting, and a synthesis of the data bearing on the influence of educational level upon activity, unemployment and jobs qualification. The second part studies the various labor market theories and builds theoretical and methodological tools, using the concept of job trajectory. The third part uses the results of original longitudinal data to show the influence of labor demand upon the structuration of job trajectories. The conclusion discusses the consequences of the analysis on the organization of the educational system and on the social control of the disparities due to the labor demand heterogeneity

Pełny tekst źródłaWhile most orientations into vocational education are constrained in France, the vocational baccalaureate Accompaniment, care, services to the person seems to be an exception. This course attracts many candidates and all the students whose school career we studied in this research chose it as their first wish at the start of high school. During the interviews with the students, they claimed a vocational relationship to this orientation, explaining that they had always enjoyed caring for others in the domestic sphere and that it had allowed them to develop both technical and moral dispositions conducive to care work. By conducting observations in classrooms and in places of internship, as well as interviews with students (that took place at different times of their schooling), but also teachers and administrative staff, we sought to analyse how this orientation, marked by strong social determinism, can nevertheless be appropriated by students. We also seeked to analyse what role the school institution and its actors play in this appropriation. Since the thesis is carried out in sociology of training/employment relations and in visual and filmic sociology, the manuscript is completed by a documentary film and a reflection on the contribution of images to research in humanities and social sciences

Pełny tekst źródłaBoth the place of training within social relations and the link between employment and training are examined through the analysis of a specific procedure for reconversion. This one started during the restructuring of an iron and steel company within a local employment system being mainly structured around this activity, i. E. In Neuves-Maisons (1984). Actually, the French mobility system regarding, the iron and steel industry represents a very good example of the crisis. Whenever the branch and the industrial plant want to dismiss members of the staff and in order to accompany this restructuring, an institutional device has been set up, being one of the institutional mechanisms which are intended to incite and accompany the forced mobility of the staff. The conversion training contract is an essential point for the institutional training. Regarding the employment analysis, supposing that applying for a job can be considered as a dominating role, the adoption of a system giving a certain outlook allows to reintroduce the interdependence of the employment system with other subsystems. It also allows to take into account strategies of main actors, procedures and logical aspects of socialization. If the training allows the acquisition of new social skills, it cannot be the deciding factor neither of a local development procedure, nor of an intervention on the factor looking for a job, nor of important modification of the segmentation procedures regarding the previously active population. It rinds its place within a broader system

Subsequently, the educational situation ceased to be countercyclical and a direct relation took the place of the inverse relation. Works in quantitative history provide information on the process of correction of economic blockages by the development of education, but do not a priori provide information about the contradictory process that grew within the general situation and led to the reversal of the inter-war period. The hypothesis is put forward that the reversal was the result of a progressive autonomist process resulting from the exhaustion and overtaking of the relation between education and economics established during the industrial revolution

Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis, undertaken together with a professional activity with a regional employment-vocational training observatory, deals with the emergence and functioning of devices aimed at coordinating public policies for education-training, employment and economic development within Provence – Alpes – Côte d'Azur region. Covering the period between 2005 and 2010, the idea is that, based on social learning from passed experiences, these devices would be instrumental in creating new “functional space” de-compartmentalizing these three sections of public action around a common denominator aiming at developing employment accessibility. This perspective would benefit from local initiatives, which from the start, focused on integrating vocational training, employment and economic development. The success of the integration depends on the joint capacity of both the devices instigators and the local actors to build a trusting relationship by interacting and mobilizing their knowledge and expertise in accordance with the specificities of these new tools. Through this process, the issue at hand is the convergence between promoting local “integrated” initiatives and finding a territorial foothold for the actors, who, like the PACA regional council, have none

It shows the intertwining mobilizations, conflicts, institutional logics and devices that carry what can be considered as a change of university regime. The analysis is based on materials (archives, interviews, observations) collected over a triple inquiry: a historical study of the vocationalisation success as a category of the university courses governance; a multisited fieldwork on the policy of vocationalisation aiming at an optimal relationship between universities and economy; and a comparison of the uses of vocationalisation in literature, law and physics departments, in three universities. Vocationalisation is considered as a resource for the students confronted to an uncertain future, and for the staff grapple with a questioning of their “social utility”, but it appears to be also a mean for the universities governance

However, Canada has still work to do in order to ensure that new immigrants successfully integrate its labour market. Our research focuses on a means that is often considered critical to ensure this integration: job-related training. In this study, the expression “job-related training” refers to employer-sponsored learning activities related to a specific job. We have two goals. The first is to determine whether immigrants and Canadian-born persons have similar opportunities to participate to job-related training activities. The second is to examine the effect of gender and time since immigration on an immigrant’s likelihood to participate to job-related-training. Our quantitative empirical analysis relies on data from Statistics Canada’s 2003 Adult Education and Training Survey. Our study enables us to reach our first objective. Indeed, it reveals that immigrant workers are less likely than Canadian-born persons to participate in job-related training activities. Although other studies have reported a similar gap between these two groups, our study is special in that it controls the effect of six variables, which, according to the literature, influence participation to job-related training. This characteristic reduces the likelihood that the observed gap between immigrants and Canadian-born persons be the result of a factor other than immigration status. Our empirical study also allows us to reach our second objective, though only partially. Our study shows that time since immigration is positively related to the likelihood that an immigrant participates to job-related training. However, it leaves unanswered the question regarding the impact of the immigrant’s gender. Against our expectations, we do not observe that gender has a statistically significant effect on the relationship between immigration status and the level of job-related training. Pełny tekst źródłaHighly skilled immigrant women face numerous obstacles upon their arrival in Quebec with regards to their professional and economic integration. A lack of recognition of foreign qualifications, discriminatory business practices, as well as strategies and family obligations represent difficulties that lead to the deskilling of many immigrant women. Despite a high level of education before their arrival, many of them will opt for a return to school in the hope that a local diploma will improve their occupational status. This research paper focuses on the professional reorientation of highly skilled immigrant women. It examines the course of reorientation as a continuum in four stages, namely, the decision to undergo training, career choices, training process and access to employment related to that training. The objective of this research paper is to explore the impact of the barriers that immigrant women face upon arrival in Quebec and along the course of reorientation. The results obtained from interviews conducted with twelve immigrant women indicate an important decrease in the degree of deskilling upon attainment of a local diploma. Although this coping strategy seems to be working in this regard, the results also depict the persistence of certain obstacles. Trajectory analysis reveals a cascading effect from one step of the process to the next.
