Pełny tekst źródłaNowadays, a huge amount of data exchanges is needed in the railway system. This is particularly to support autonomous train, reduce operation and maintenance costs, increase safety and security. In the same time, many new services are offered to passengers. There is no unique technology that can satisfy all these needs. Consequently, different industrial and academical research projects are on-going at European and International levels to develop the Future Railway Mobile Communications System (FRMCS). FRMCS will be IP-based, adaptable, agnostic to radio technology and resilient to technological evolutions. In addition, it should support high data rate, low latency, large bandwidth, and efficient spectrum utilization. The FRMCS is expected to be able to choose in real time between different available radio access technologies in function of applications needs and the surrounding railway environment. Among these technologies, we can mention the Wi-Fi, LTE, satellites and the 5G NR standard in development. Thus, the contributions of this PhD thesis are part of the development of an Adaptable Communication System (ACS) for the railway by considering cutting-edge technologies of the future 5G NR system and beyond. Different key enabling technologies have been proposed recently under the umbrella of 5G and Beyond communication systems. Among which, radio access techniques play major role over key metrics, such as the efficient utilization of the available spectrum, the high data rates, and the computational complexity of the transceiver system. One of the major technological evolution in that domain concerns the introduction of different Multi-Carrier Modulation (MCM) and Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) techniques. In this Ph.D thesis, we start by considering the MCM technology in the context of high speed railway. A performance evaluation study is conducted where different MCM schemes are highlighted in different scenarios. The Filtered Bank Multi-Carrier (FBMC) waveform presents high robustness to high mobility scenarios while exploiting the available spectrum efficiently. However, FBMC advantages come with additional built-in interference that challenges traditional transceiver design techniques. Thereby, we propose different contributions that handle the channel estimation and equalization aspects of the FBMC waveform. The contributions aims to assure better performance at the cost of negligible additional complexity compared with the literature

Pełny tekst źródłaTiivistelmä Langattoman tietoliikenteen maailmanlaajuista suosiota kiihdytti alun perin mahdollisuus korvata tietoliikennejärjestelmissä käytetyt kaapelit langattomilla ratkaisuilla. Ilmiö lisäsi myös tarvetta kehittää alan turvatekniikkaa monialaisen tutkimuksen pohjalta. Vaikka langattomat ratkaisut merkitsevät pienempiä asennuskustannuksia ja tarjoavat mahdollisuuksia luoda uudenlaisia palveluja, järjestelmien loppukäyttäjät edellyttävät kuitenkin niiden turvallisuuden olevan vastaavalla tasolla kuin langallisissa verkoissa. Myös teollisuuden langattomien tietoliikennejärjestelmen turvallisuus riippuu pitkälti viestintäkanavien turvallisuudesta. Väitöksen tavoitteena on kehittää uusia menetelmiä, joilla teollisuuden langattomat tietoliikennejärjestelmät voitaisiin turvata. Lisäksi siinä kuvataan simulaatiot ja mittaushankkeet, joiden tavoitteena on arvioida käytetyn protokollan turvallisuusvaikutuksia esteettömän (line–of–sight, LOS) ja esteellisen (non–line–of–sight, NLOS) näköyhteyden tapauksissa. Sähkömagneettinen analyysi on tärkeä vaihe turvajärjestelmien kehitysprosessissa.

It has attracted much attention to provide broadband wireless services in railway transport systems in recent years. In this dissertation, we aim to analyze and overcome some issues in railway communication systems, including train-to-ground communications, in-train communications and in-station communications. For the train-to-ground communications, we discuss echo channel effect and define the corresponding criteria in a Time Division Duplexing (TDD) DAS railway com-munications system. Furthermore, timing drift problem while applying moving an-tenna selection technique to solve the echo channel effect is illustrated. Compensation algorithms then are proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed techniques can solve not only the interference problem in TDD-DAS, but also provide better scalability in system deployment. In the in-train and in-station communications, we consider a central-controlled D2D architecture, in which a cellular operator can decide whether mobile devices can connect to each other directly. We aim to maximize system throughput while also achieve fairness in resource allocation. An algorithm that separates resource frame into resource-dedicate area and resource-contention area for fairness and throughput improvement is proposed. The algorithm dynamically adjusts the boundary of the resource-dedicate area and resource-contention area. Criteria based on Proportional Fair (PF) metric are formulated. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can maintain good fairness level and increase system throughput by exploring radio resource spatial reuse gain among D2D communication pairs.

In this thesis, we adopt the handover procedure that are defined in WiMAX standard, and study broadband wireless communication system on high speed railway. Because a high speed train runs on track have always a regular destination, and the target base station can be predicted before handover. Thus our research will focus on adjust traditional handover procedure of WiMAX according to characteristic conditions of high speed railway. Here, handover algorithms are based on relative receiver signal strength with hysteresis margin and absolute threshold. Time of signal lost and throughput are used as criteria for our handover performance evaluation that are obtained via radio propagation channel model at suburban areas. In simulation results, we will analysis performance on the proposed procedure and traditional procedure, and further compare efficiency of above performance criteria according to differently numerical combinations of hysteresis margin and absolute threshold.

This thesis discusses the benefits of using the powerline communication (PLC) as the technology to transmit the network packets instead of using the wireless communication system, such as cell phones, in an electrical railway system. An electrical railway system model with the data transmission using the powerline communication with mobile contacts in the power supply system is built. A track-powered model train module is used as the carrier of the mobile contact, which travels along the path of the power line. With this model, the simulation of the powerline communication applied to the electrical railway system, such as rapid transit system and high speed railways, is conducted, so are the measurements of data transmission and the performance evaluation under various speeds. In the end, the possible problems with the powerline communication being applied to the real world electrical railway systems are presented.

Now days, there are many power-line network products in the market for customers to purchase, such as a PLC Ethernet adapter. No need for extra Ethernet wires, just plug the adapter’s power line into an outlet then the computer could connect to the Internet through the power line. High-speed railway system, which power source is the power substation, the overhead supply system provides power line wires to connect both the power substation and the locomotive. If the power-line communication (PLC) network could be established, the passengers who sit on the train can use their mobile devices to surf the Internet. This paper provides an idea which is using power-line communication network working on the high-speed electrical railway system. In order to implement this idea, a high-speed railway simulation system must be built. With this system, it is possible to simulate the communication between internet servers and passengers’ mobile devices by using indoor power source. By observing the communication`s service quality, this paper could analyze the effects which affect the simulation and consider the possibility of using PLC network working on the high-speed electrical railway system in the real world.
