Streszczenie:
Over the past decade Niseko, a small ski resort in Japan, has experienced rapid growth in international tourism. Informed by a small-scale qualitative study, this article provides an account of Niseko residents’ perceptions of tourism and, more specifically, compares their responses to two key groups of inbound tourists, those from Australia and China. Where increases in the number of Australian tourists and tourism business owners have had significant influence on this previously homogeneous town, the reaction of residents to Australians is generally more positive than the response reserved for the more recent arrival of Chinese tourists. Although the former group is associated with increased living costs, leakage of profits and inappropriate behaviour, Australians were generally characterised by research participants as ‘friendly’ and ‘relaxed’ and relations were typically described as ‘harmonious’. Conversely, Chinese tourists were viewed by residents as being pushy and demanding, and these host–guest interactions were described as ‘difficult’. Drawing on Japanese notions of hospitality and residents’ discussions of cultural difference, this article explores the different reactions engendered by foreign presence, pointing as it does so to the ambivalence and contingency that underpins many host–guest relationships.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to determine the effects of factors affecting the acceptance and use of technology on the factors affecting women’s entrepreneurship motivation. Design/methodology/approach This study was conducted with 156 women entrepreneurs in Turkey in February 2019. A mixed method evaluation design has been adopted in the study. Findings The findings revealed that effort expectancy was negatively associated with behaviour intention and push factor and positively associated with pull factor. Performance expectancy was positively associated with balance factor, push factor and behaviour intention. Hedonic motivation was positively associated with behaviour intention and emotional factor. Behaviour intention was negatively associated with use behaviour. Facilitating conditions was positively associated with push factor. Habit was positively associated with behaviour intention and negatively associated with pull, push, balance and emotional factors. Necessities and habit were not motivation factors for women entrepreneurs. Research limitations/implications The sample was restricted to women entrepreneurs, limiting the generalizability of the findings. Practical implications The practical implications of the study show that effort expectancy, performance expectancy, hedonic motivation, facilitating conditions and habit are the key factors for the women’s entrepreneurship motivation. Women’s entrepreneurship commissions to be established in chambers of commerce and industry can improve entrepreneurial motivation. Originality/value This is the first study that reveals the effects of technology acceptance and use behaviours on women’s entrepreneurship motivation. Theoretical background, discussion, managerial implications, limitations and recommendations for future studies are discussed.

Streszczenie:
Push notifications are a core functionality of mobile apps and allow app publishers to interact with existing app users and send promotional content. Since every push notification can also interrupt or annoy app users, the frequency of push notifications is a critical success factor. This study investigates how different frequencies of push notifications affect the behavior of app users of mobile apps in retail. In an experiment with 17,500 app users, five different frequencies are tested over seven weeks, and the effects on real observed app user behavior are analyzed. The results show that as the frequency of the non-personalized push notifications increases, uninstalls increase, and the direct open rate of push notifications decreases. A significant influence on indirect opens cannot be proven. The results provide practitioners with important insights into the potential harm that a too high frequency of push notifications can cause. Furthermore, the results support the importance of relevant content tailored to the respective user.

Education is considered critical for both showing positive behaviour and regulating negative social behaviour and affecting the social attitudes by improving one's ability to perceive others. Hence, this research examined the push and pull factors of Negative Social Behaviour among secondary school students. In this research, we collect data over two self-developed questionnaires. Thus, total 500 students (252 female, 248 male) and 120 teachers (60 male, 60 female) from 04 districts of Punjab were selected conveniently. The EFA revealed 06 dimensions possibly be extracted from two questionnaires designed for the students and teachers separately. Multilevel analyses mean SD, Pearson correlation, and independent-sample t-test were performed. Findings reveal that parents’ conflicts, peer’ bullying, teachers’ insulting behaviours and students’ sarcastic attitude are the major push factors that cause de-motivation and promote NSB among students. These factors severely influence students’ personality, and as a result, students lost study interest, behave roughly and violate the institutions’ rules.

Crosswalk with push button is prevalent in lots of cities for the purpose of promoting the efficiency of the crosswalk, and thus the delays of both vehicles and pedestrians can be reduced. This strategy has been confirmed to be effective in several developed countries. However, it is a pity that application of push button is aborted in some cities in China. In this work, diverse behaviors of vehicles and pedestrians are analyzed and discussed. Then, a microscopic model is developed by incorporating the interaction between vehicles and pedestrians. Numerical simulations are performed to reveal the characteristics of traffic flow and the efficiency of the signal control strategy. Also, the impacts of risker proportion and button reaction time, as well as the impacts of various behaviors as mass behavior, the patience of pedestrian and push button habit are investigated. It is expected that the results will be helpful to the strategy design of a signalized crosswalk in such developing countries as China.

Abstract. How to use modern information technology to efficiently and quickly obtain the personalized recommendation information required by students, and to provide high-quality intelligent services for schools, parents and students has become one of the hot issues in college research. This paper uses FP-growth association rule mining algorithm to infer student behavior and then use the collaborative filtering recommendation method to push information according to the inference result, and then push real-time and effective personalized information for students. The experimental results show that an improved FP-growth algorithm is proposed based on the classification of students. The algorithm combines the student behavior inference method of FP-growth algorithm with the collaborative filtering hybrid recommendation method, which not only solves the FP-tree tree branch. Excessive and collaborative filtering recommendation algorithm data sparseness problem, can also analyze different students' behaviors and activities, and accurately push real-time, accurate and effective personalized information for students, to promote smart campus and information intelligence The development provides better service.

AbstractThe sexual behaviour of Bosca's newt, Triturus boscai is characterized by an extended phase of static display, during which tail fanning is the main display. This behaviour is similar to that of another species, T. italicus. During the static display phase males may also push the females' throat with the snout, and perform tail flicking movements. Unlike the other small-bodied Triturus species, T. boscai males receive very little or no indication on the part of the female signalling them to begin the spermatophore transfer phase, and do not perform retreat display. As in T. italicus, the tail-touch behaviour by the female of T. boscai appears to be less stereotyped than in the T vulgaris-helveticus-montandoni group. Spermatophore transfer success was highest at the beginning of the sexual encounters, the so-called early sequences. These sequences had little or no fanning behaviour before the spermatophore transfer. Luring behaviours are often performed, mainly during the spermatophore transfer phase.

This study aimed to derive tourism motives and constraint factors that have changed or are newly applicable after COVID-19, and to identify the influencing relationships between these factors and complex aspects of tourism behavior intentions. For this purpose, the Push-Pull-Mooring model was used. To achieve the purpose of this study, prior literature and empirical studies were used to derive the primary measurement items through the primarily derived PPM model-based factors, and an online questionnaire survey was conducted with consumers who had had experience of overseas travel within the past two years. In total, 322 copies of the questionnaire were used for analysis. Through factor analyses, five push factors, four pull factors, and four mooring factors were derived. To understand tourism behavior intentions, each of the travel resumption times, preferred destination types, and preferred accommodation types were divided into three to conduct multinomial logistic regression analysis. The influence relationships between variables were verified to identify the changes in tourism behavior intentions caused by COVID-19, and the results indicated that some items of the PPM factors had significant influencing relationships with travel resumption times and preferred accommodation types. The preferred destination types were found to have significant influencing relationships with some items of the push/pull factors that were not found to have any influencing relationships with the mooring factors. This study is meaningful in that it presented motives and constraint factors for tourism behaviors from a new perspective based on changes in the tourism environment due to COVID-19, and the application of the PPM model and travel behavior is expected to be applied to diverse tourist behavior studies hereafter to achieve theoretical extensions.

Streszczenie:
Bipedal humanoid robots are intrinsically unstable against unforeseen perturbations. Conventional zero moment point (ZMP)-based locomotion algorithms can reject perturbations by incorporating sensory feedback, but they are less effective than the dynamic full body behaviors humans exhibit when pushed. Recently, a number of biomechanically motivated push recovery behaviors have been proposed that can handle larger perturbations. However, these methods are based upon simplified and transparent dynamics of the robot, which makes it suboptimal to implement on common humanoid robots with local position-based controllers. To address this issue, we propose a hierarchical control architecture. Three low-level push recovery controllers are implemented for position controlled humanoid robots that replicate human recovery behaviors. These low-level controllers are integrated with a ZMP-based walk controller that is capable of generating reactive step motions. The high-level controller constructs empirical decision boundaries to choose the appropriate behavior based upon trajectory information gathered during experimental trials. Our approach is evaluated in physically realistic simulations and on a commercially available small humanoid robot.

Gonatodes albogularis is a small diurnal gecko that lives in Central and northern South America and whose behaviour has been rarely analysed. This study describes the behaviour patterns occurring during agonistic encounters between male geckos, assesses the effect of morphological and behavioural traits on aggressive intensity and contest outcome, and tests predictions of the sequential assessment and self-assessment models of animal contests. We staged encounters between randomly paired wild-caught males in a neutral arena. The behaviour of both males was recorded and a winner was determined for most encounters. Aggressive patterns exhibited during the contests included ‘throat depression’, ‘push-ups’, three types of ‘tail display’, ‘whole body waving’ and ‘bites’. Contest winners did not differ from losers in any of the morphological variables examined. However, winners performed longer or more frequent aggressive behaviours than losers, and frequency of ‘throat depression’ and duration of ‘whole body waving’ significantly predicted final status of geckos. These results show that some behaviours are good predictors of the outcome of aggressive encounters in G. albogularis. Moreover, winner SVL significantly predicted the aggressive intensity of the contest. Early theoretical models hypothesized that there should be mutual assessment between contestants, but our results for G. albogularis agree more with a recent model of ‘self-assessment only’ of intrasexual competition.

This study observed and recorded courtship, copulation, and territorialistic behaviors in Tropidurus torquatus. Males of this species used a head bobbing or “push-up” display, which is the main communication sign with other males. Females, in turn, performed tail lifting, a specific sexual stimulus behavior indicating acceptance of copulation. Courtship took place with coordinated movements for both males and females and could result in effective copulation; females seemed to prefer dominant males during the reproductive period. Territorialistic behaviors occurred before and after courtship, demonstrating the efforts made by dominant males of T. torquatus to maintain their territory during the reproductive season.

Introduction (excerpt): Jaw clenching is a commonly reported behavioral reaction to stress; especially anger, pain, and frustration. Some people clench their teeth when about to push or lift heavy objects. Bruxing most typically occurs during the night, but jaw clenching is often reported as a daytime behavior. Parafunctional behaviors are found in children and adults. These behaviors can produce symptoms when they are excessive in any of the following variables: frequency, intensity or duration. <br />This article describes some causes and effects of jaw clenching and bruxing, and details strategies to help patients free themselves from these behaviors. It also suggests that the orofacial myologist may be ideally qualified to cooperate with the referring doctor or dentist to help these patients control these behaviors.

This paper summarizes the results of tests performed on 48 push-out specimens to investigate the feasibility of using perfobond rib type shear connectors in composite beams with ribbed metal decks placed parallel to the steel beams. The perfobond rib shear connector is a flat steel plate containing a number of holes. The results indicate that perfobond rib connectors can be effectively used in composite beams with ribbed metal decks placed parallel to the steel beams. An appreciable improvement in performance was observed in test specimens when additional reinforcing bars were passed through the perfobond rib holes. Shank shear was the principal mode of failure in specimens with headed studs. In specimens with perfobond rib, failure was triggered by the longitudinal splitting of the concrete slab, followed by the crushing of concrete in front of the perfobond rib. Key words: composite beam, shear connector, perfobond rib, headed stud, push-out test, metal deck.

The objective of this paper is to provide basic information on structural behavior of Korea traditional wooden frames under earthquake loading. One of prototype wooden frames for this study was chosen from a designated national treasure in Korea. A series of experimental work were prepared to investigate the behavior and hysteresis characteristics of traditional wooden frames under cyclic lateral loading. Three test specimens of a full scale were performed for cyclic hysteretic behaviors based on one static test specimen as a pilot test. The experimental observation showed stiffness degradations and slips after experiencing initial yield point and the first cycle at a new larger displacement due to inherent gaps in connections between columns and connection parts of beams and a gradual indentation of interfaces under pull and push. Addition of structural components such as an upper beam and clay-filled wall to the basic beam and columns increased the initial stiffness, strength and energy dissipation than those of basic frames. The behaviors of the wooden frames were simulated by DRAIN-2DX program for the dynamic analysis of an entire wooden frame system. Comparison between analysis models and the experimental behaviors showed that the behavior of wooden frames under consideration could be represented by a combination of link and truss elements. The maximum response of a wooden frame system under three earthquakes showed a safe behavior for a potential earthquake.

This paper briefly summarizes the results of tests conducted on 18 full-size push-out specimens and 4 pull-out specimens. The objective of the project was to study the behaviour of headed studs in composite beams with ribbed metal decks perpendicular and parallel to the steel beam. The longitudinal spacing of the headed studs and the rib geometry of the metal decks were the principal experimental parameters.Five of the push-out specimens had solid concrete slabs, in five specimens the ribbed metal deck was placed parallel to the steel beam, and in the remaining eight specimens the metal deck was perpendicular to the steel beam. In most cases 38 mm deck and 16 × 76 studs were used.Test results obtained by the authors appear to indicate that with some exceptions the current Canadian Standards Association and Load and Resistance Factor Design codes are able to predict stud strength correctly for specimens with solid slabs and with parallel ribbed slabs only when failure occurs owing to stud shearing, i.e., when the studs are spaced sufficiently apart. It is recommended that these codes include a provision to check the possibility of concrete-related failures when the longitudinal stud spacing approaches or falls below six times the stud diameter for solid and parallel ribbed slabs.Stud pull-out was the principal mode of failure in the specimens with perpendicular ribbed metal decks. An equation recently proposed by Hawkins and Mitchell appears to underestimate the capacity for specimens with 38 mm deck. For specimens with 76 mm deck, their equation overestimates the stud capacity. The authors have proposed two separate but similar empirical equations for specimens with 38 and 76 mm deck. Key words: composite beam, headed stud, stud shear capacity, stud pull-out failure, minimum stud spacing, perpendicular deck, parallel deck.

Most theories of migration assume homogenous optimizing behavior by economic agents. In contrast Lipton assumes heterogeneity of group behavior — rich persons optimize whereas poor persons are more reactive than proactive. Hence, the migratory decisions of the rural poor are more likely to be influenced by push factors while pull factors more likely apply to the rural rich. In this article, push and pull factors are associated with satisficing and optimizing migratory behavior, respectively. To some extent, Nepalese data support Lipton's hypotheses concerning migration and remitting behavior of poor and rich families.

The push factors include dissatisfaction with system quality, information quality and service quality. The pull factor is alternative attractiveness. The mooring factors include switching costs and social influence. The results indicated that user switches receive influences from all three kinds of factors. Hence mobile stores need to be concerned with the effects of push, pull and mooring factors in order to curb users' switching behavior.

Streszczenie:
In steel and concrete composite structures, it is unfavourable to install many headed studs or perfobond ribs with narrow spacings at the joints. To solve this problem, a new type of a mixed shear connector was developed by combining a headed stud and perfobond rib at the same steel beam flange. In this paper, totally nine push-out tests were conducted. The main purpose was to compare the failure mode and the load-slip behavior of the headed stud, perfobond rib, and mixed shear connector. Furthermore, 19 nonlinear finite element simulations were performed. The effects of connector dimension and material properties on the structural behaviors of mixed shear connectors were studied. Based on the experimental and parametric study, an analytical equation was finally proposed to evaluate the shear capacity of perfobond rib with a headed stud mixed shear connector.

Streszczenie:
When Perfobond Rib shear connectors are used as flexural materials in structures such as bridges, they show flexural shear behavior due to external force, rather than direct shear behavior. The aim of this study is thus to analyze the difference between both behaviors. First, we prepared a specimen to analyze direct shear behavior using Perfobond Rib shear connectors, analyzed the characteristics of behavior with a push-out test and proposed a formula of shear resistance assessment. Proposed formula shows a relatively good fit with less than 10% error. A flexural shear test was then conducted based on the result of the direct shear test. Based on the static flexural test it analyzed the flexural behavior and the flexural shear stress it calculated. Direct shear stress and EN 1994-1-1 to lead and be calculated, it compared the flexural shear stress and it analyzed in about the shear resistance stress which it follows in load direction. Finally, we compared both test results, and the comparison showed that the flexural shear stress is approximately 6% stronger than the direct shear stress.

This paper summarizes the results of tests conducted on four full-size composite beams and two full-size push-off specimens which are companions of the first two beams. In these specimens, the ribbed metal deck was placed perpendicular to the beam span. Concrete pull-out was the principal mode of failure. The ultimate horizontal shear loads observed in the push-off specimens agreed reasonably well with those predicted using an empirical equation proposed by the authors. The predicted values of flexural capacity, calculated indirectly using the same equation, were in good agreement with those observed in the four beam specimens. Key words: composite beam, headed shear stud, stud shear capacity, stud pull-out failure, full-size tests, perpendicular ribbed metal deck.

Streszczenie:
Users’ payment behaviors have changed. The diffusion of mobile devices makes people suitable for proximity mobile payment (PMP) services without traditional payment. Existing mobile payment literature mainly focuses on the adoption and continuous usage behavior. Nevertheless, switching behavior on payment has received little attention, especially on why people switch from traditional payment to PMP. Thus, the purpose of this study is to investigate factors influencing users’ traditional payment–PMP switching to comprehend how these factors shape switching intention. To that end, we developed a traditional payment–PMP transition model based on the push–pull–mooring framework derived from migration theory. This study conducted a structural equation modeling analysis on 311 valid data. The findings indicated that a push factor drives users away from traditional payment in terms of dissatisfaction. The pull factors, including perceived substitutability and perceived usefulness, attract users to PMP. Furthermore, a positive mooring factor facilitates users’ switching intention to PMP in terms of perceived technical compatibility. The negative mooring factor, in terms of perceived risk, hinders users’ switching intention. However, another pull factor—perceived ease of use—failed to influence switching intention significantly. This study found some distinctions between mobile payment switching and mobile payment adoption. These findings provide pivotal insights for mobile payment service providers.

Multiaxial fatigue tests consisting of push-pull loading and cyclic inner pressure were carried out using hollow cylinder specimens of type 430 stainless and type 316 stainless steels at room temperature. 7 types of cyclic loading paths were employed by combining axial and hoop stresses: a Pull, an Inner-pressure, a Push-pull, an Equi-biaxial, a Square-shape, a LT-shape and a LC-shape. Fatigue lives vary depending on the loading path when those were evaluated by the maximum Mises’ equivalent stress on inner surface of the specimen. The fatigue lives of both the steels showed a similar tendency although some Pull tests take longer fatigue life when cracks initiated from inside surface of the specimen. This study investigated the crack initiation and propagation behaviors as well as the initiation of oil leakage to prove the behavior and discusses life evaluation for two steels under wide ranged biaxial stress state, too.

Agency and stewardship theories are prominent perspectives to examine myriad issues within family firms. Although considered opposing theories, both address the same phenomena: the individual-level behaviors and firm-level governance mechanisms that predict organizational outcomes. Accordingly, we review and synthesize these theories concurrently, using the concepts of behavior and governance as our organizing framework. Our review encompasses 107 family firm articles grounded in agency and/or stewardship theory, published between 2000 and 2014 in 24 journals across several disciplines. Additionally, we identify future research areas that provide scholars opportunities to push theoretical boundaries and offer further insights into the family firm.

Rural tourism is an important form of tourism in many countries, including Finland. To understand rural tourists’ behaviour and help tourism companies market their products more efficiently many scholars have segmented rural tourists in several different geographical locations. This study aims to combine segmentation approaches used in earlier studies, namely motivation and benefit segmentation, and segment online rural tourists in Finland. Data is collected in a rural tourism affiliate website and analysed using cluster analysis on tourists’ motivations. Among 727 respondents, four rural tourist segments are found: “Social travellers”, “Wellbeing travellers”, “Home region travellers” and “Family travellers”. The segments differ from each other in motivations, preferred destination attributes, travel behaviour and sociodemographic factors. Understanding these differences will provide rural tourism companies important information to successfully market their products by combining both push and pull motivations in their marketing and product development.

Streszczenie:
Two types of low cycle fatigue tests were conducted along two principal orthotropic directions of an orthotropic Al-6061-T6 plate in strain control at room temperature: (1) reference fatigue tests under three loading conditions: push-pull, torsion, and combined push-pull/torsion in-phase; (2) sequential fatigue tests in which different sequences of push-pull and torsion were performed. Fatigue cracking behavior was observed during all of the fatigue tests. Shear cracking dominated the damage of the material. Anisotropic constitutive relations of the material were used in the evaluation of several multiaxial fatigue damage models. The predictive capabilities of these models were assessed based on the results of reference fatigue tests. The damage accumulation behavior of the material was found to depend on the sequence of the loading mode. For the sequence of torsion then push-pull, the damage summation was greater than unity. However, for the sequence of push-pull then torsion, the damage accumulation was near unity as predicted by the linear damage rule. A nonlinear damage accumulation rule could represent the results of the sequential fatigue tests.

Streszczenie:
Unidirectional SiC/SiC minicomposites were produced by infiltration of a Hi-Nicalon fibre tow by using pulsed chemical vapour deposition (P-CVD). The sequence of precursor gazes inlet steps determines the structure of the Pyrocarbon/TiC layered interphase deposited first on the filaments. The SiC matrix is then deposited with a given thickness. The different interphase structures will be described. The interface behaviour was characterized by indentation method. The load is applied on the fibre-end at a polished cross-section of the composite, and the displacement of that fibre-end is measured. The push-in test on thick specimens shows that the fibre debonds at a given fibre stress and then slides under a certain frictional shear stress. Both parameters increase when the TiC layers become discontinuous, like aligned TiC clusters in a Pyrocarbon matrix. The load-displacement behaviour is in very good agreement with theory when the interfacial shear stress is kept constant, non depending on relative slip displacement. The push-through test on thin composite slices gives directly access to sliding resistance because the fibre is less compressed. The load displacement curves obtained will be described and analysed. For example, sliding velocity jumps revealed a slight increase in sliding resistance with velocity. During push-back, a seating drop was recorded as the fibre returns in its initial position, illustrating a certain effect of roughness.

With increasing technology advancement, online shopping, and growth of affordable segment, smartphone users’ switching behavior is becoming a concern for smartphone companies. To fill the research gap that persists in relation to the switching behavior of smartphone users from a multidimensional view, this study integrates the push-pull-mooring model to investigate and classify factors that affect the switching behavior of smartphone users. To test the hypotheses in relation to different predictors, data were collected from a survey of 246 users of the top ten smartphone brands in China and analyzed using structural model equation through regression analyses. The results revealed that the pull, push, and mooring factors have a significant impact on the switching behavior of smartphone users. While the pull effects have a stronger impact than push effects, the mooring factors were found to have a significant and strongest effect on smartphone users’ switching behavior. In particular, subjective norm showed the greatest impact on switching behavior, product quality and obsolete features showed significant and weak impact while brand image, switching cost, and poor customer service did not show any significant impact. These findings provide useful implications and insights for smartphone brands to develop competitive strategies for customer relationship management.
