Streszczenie:
The Republic Indonesia Government in realizing the welfare has a fundamental role that is realized through economic and infrastructure development in various cities in Indonesia. The problem faced by Indonesia in realizing this development is how to keep infrastructure development in line with efforts to preserve the environment, and this is also one of the sustainable development goals. In this study using qualitative descriptive method. Case study that uses the object of research, is City of Bekasi-West Java. Data obtained through interviews with Bekasi City Government officials, documentation and literature studies. The analysis carried out is a SWOT analysis. Based on this research, it proves that Bekasi City, when viewed from geographical aspect, regulations, and existing legal aspects, is able to issue sukuk and carry out green infrastructure development with financing from the green sukuk. However, the reality is, until now there has been no green infrastructure development in Bekasi City that uses financing sources from sukuk or green sukuk. The existing green infrastructure in Bekasi City is a project of several ministries and is not a project of Bekasi City itself.

A collaborative two-part project between Iowa State University Horticulture Extension and the Iowa Nursery and Landscape Association (INLA) resulted in an online, asynchronous training program to prepare green industry professionals for the Iowa Certified Nursery Professional (ICNP) exam, and to provide advanced training through webinars. Since 2008, members have accessed a set of 20 training modules that cover plant identification and content on the written portion of the certification exam. In the 6 years since the modules have been used, the pass rate for the written portion of the exam has increased from 57% (2005–07, 18 participants) to 85% (2008–13, 49 participants). A survey administered to participants between 2008 and 2013 gathered information on participant demographics, interest in learning in an online format, usefulness and applicability of information in preparing for the exam, module usability, and how the modules impacted their learning. Participants felt that the modules were an effective way to deliver content (4.45 out of 5) and reported they were comfortable using a web-based format to learn (4.89 out of 5). Advanced training was delivered to members through three webinar series: five webinars in 2011 and four webinars each in 2012 and 2013. Although attendance to the live webinar sessions was limited, the archived versions have been accessed a number of times.

The neighborhood of Kuzguncuk in Istanbul has been the theater of a 20-year struggle between the authorities and the local population concerning a green area present in the center of the district. This struggle was interesting as it concerned visions of green areas and more globally of society. The inhabitants wanted to have an open green and social area, whereas the centralized authority wanted to use this land for a profitable building project, without any consultation of the neighborhood. In 2015, a park was inaugurated on this land, the result of a compromise between political authorities and inhabitants of Kuzguncuk. Because of this compromise, this is a unique case, and it will be interesting to understand how different visions of green areas and societal values brought about a project such as that of Kuzguncuk.

This research aims to investigate how local government of Surakarta developing green businesses to realise Solo Green City, as the answer of environmental sustainability issue. We elaborate the Green Business Model as a strategy to enhance communities participation in green projects. Schaltegger et al. (2012) explained that green business is a sistematical approach to develop both business and sustainable environment. We applied the qualitative method in this study. We did interview two groups of respondents, policy makers and green business practitioners. Policy makers are Regional Planning Agency (Bappeda) as macro planner and Environmental Agency and Agricurtural; Food Security and Fishery Agency as implementers. On the other hand, we interviewed businessmen of decorative plants, hidroponic community, organic vegetables village, and go green souvenirs sellers as practitioners. It can be concluded that from several green business activities, the community empowerment is the most influential movement to establish Solo Green City. The success project such as Organic Vegetables Village in Mojosongo is the result from collaboration of NGO Rumah Zakat with local community. The project was supervised under Environmental Agency as pilot project of the climate villages. The model that we developed will be submitted to the local government as policy recommendation

Construction projects in Indonesia are rising, but many adversely affect the environment. Green Construction presents a solution to mitigate these impacts, aiming to harmonize environmental sustainability with present and future human needs. Evaluating the implementation of Green Construction in projects is crucial. This study employed the 2015 Green Construction Assessment Model by W.I. Ervianto to assess Green Construction achievements and conducted interviews to identify implementation obstacles in the City Plaza Garut Mall Building Development project. The research revealed that the Green Construction achievement score in the Garut City Plaza Mall Building project was 16.15 out of 21.92, equivalent to 74% of its potential. Although this is the highest Green Construction score achieved in Indonesia, opportunities for improvement persist. Several aspects require optimization. This study underscores the necessity of enhancing Green Construction implementation in construction projects to attain a sustainable balance between environmental conservation and human necessities.

This research focuses on the study of urban equipment, from the standpoint of their adequacy to the needs of elderly people in real context, "Quinta das Conchas" in Lumiar, Lisboa, with the subsequent completion of a design project. The discrimination of older people is manifest in theinadequacy of equipment, furniture and public space in relation to the real needs and weaknesses of this group. It is also present in the existence of stereotyped areas, wich are sometimes source of stigma, assuming that all the elderly have the same needs, desires and motivations. We intend to comprehend the elderly interaction with their social and cultural environment by taking into account the different meanings of being old, also, is purpose to enlight the importance of green urban spaces and, therefore, recognize the importance of urban equipment in living of the aged people. By doing so, we try to articulate the concept of Universal Design and Inclusive Design with the design project. Moreover, think about data collection tchniques, analysis and representation of public space. As specific objectives, we plan to conduct a survey and analysis of equipment in an urban reality and, finally, define and apply design parameters in design of equipment in the urban context and case study selected. In terms of methodology, this study is the collection of information about the different areas involved in it, and proceeds to the selection and analysis of the relevant literature. We develop the fieldwork on case study based on direct observation of older users in real context, to collect and analyze data through daily reports and typological sheets of equipment and furniture. Later on, was confronted the data from the Parque das Conchas with literary criticism. The analysis and diagnosis framework is base on a criteria of evaluation of public space and urban elements in order to define a set of opportunities for project design, wich we select the one that came to be the basis of the design project proposal. The project consists of a walking support system on the needs and constrains of elderly users, seeking to promote a safe and accessible walking, and protects users from possible danger. It alsointends to create pretexts to stop users from walkins in certain places along the pathways to stimulate social contacts, provide moments of rest, observation of landscape and everyday life. The proposal reflect not only the views of experts, but also the analysis of the park, giving a complexity inherent in various scales and sensitivities.

Under the catalysis of the 2016 world design capital, the concept of livable city once again draws attention, emphasizing the importance of cultivating modern citizens with problem-solving and design thinking, as well as the driving force behind the city's continuous progress, and actively promote urban innovation, which boulevard program as its key core, the design of the spindle for the "participatory design", by professionals and the public to participate in the way to operate, in order to promote space planning and design closer to the use of demand. It is found in the relevant literatures of participatory design that the field is often dominated by "point" and "face", and the linear road type is less mentioned. The issue of human oriented traffic is now much more discuss. The advanced countries hoping to build a livable city, so that the development of human society and society can be balanced with the ecological, especially road design and traffic are closely related to the existing vehicle-based traffic model, as well as traffic planning areas used by professionals and other factors , So that pedestrian use rights have been ignored, people can not be smooth traffic promotion, implementation. Therefore, this study through the text analysis, participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with the user to draw the cognitive map and other research methods to boulevard design as the main axis, to explore whether road planning participates in participatory design methods to facilitate the formation of human oriented traffic. First of all, this study will be from the literature back to the previous research and theory, to explore the streets, public space, traffic patterns, urban development and the role of "people". From the perspective of people, what kind of environment is the user needs, feel comfortable, will attract people close to the environment. Which extends to Hsinsheng south road section three green boulevard, to explore the street mode changes after the user experience and the impact of urban development, and public and non-public interests of which, and to ask questions: (A) users in Hsinsheng south road section three green boulevard what are the behaviors and experiences after the project are completed? (B) the use of participatory design in Hsinsheng south road section three green boulevard project to carry out the process and the use of strategies, which participate in the role of the relationship between the power? (C) The possibility of the boulevard as an opportunity for human oriented traffic development? After the completion of Hsinsheng south road section three green boulevard project, the pedestrian space is more comfortable, but found that the user experience after the negative trend, which factors are professionals to adopt a "strategic" participatory design method, guide the user's ideas to their own presets by the process and usage strategies, not to participate in the design of the "user-oriented" spindle effective play, so the design results still failed to meet the needs of users, To participate in the design of only form. This study will be described later.

Feng Shui from ancient times to today's society has long been of quite far-reaching influence. The merit of applying Feng Shui theory is to enable people to adapt part of the natural environment, to advocate the harmonious coexistence between people and the nature, thus therefore placing particular emphasis on the relationship between humans and the living environment, and the nowadays the application of the green building concept also make use of Feng Shui in the design. In view of the adapting the environment to benefit human health, it is necessary to approach the "green building design" concept in conjunction with the "feng shui which will be the future trend of the architectural design. The objective of this study is to advance research on this aspect of relationship in order to cater for the future market demand. This study was followed by the use of literature analysis, in-depth feng shui interviews, and content analysis, which thus lead to the following detailed studies: 1. Chuan Tang Sha—to build a green wall between the road and the house. 2. Ao Fong Sha—to build a green walls higher than the adjoining Ao Fong Sha Building. 3. Long Hu Sha—to build a pond on the Long Hu Sha location. 4. Tie Wu Sha—to build a pond on the Tie Wu Sha location. 5. Tian Zhan Sha—to build 45degree tilted solar panels on the building envelope. 6. Bi Dao Sha—to build a green wall with the corner facing the Bi Dao Sha location. To enhance interior fortune - the indoor health and environment technology to harmony with structural flat slabs, columns and structural walls, interior layout designis to provide the indoor cultivation such as round leaves of potted evergreen such as: Fluke Tong, evergreen, cycads and to roof planting round leaves, evergreen, and not as a taboo plant landscape green garden. The above seven methodology are the basis of designing feng shui measures to counteract adjoining environmental constraints. Following interview with feng shui experts, it is concluded that the above methodology are useful. The objective is to promote green building technology into the feng shui of the architectural design market.

Streszczenie:
It is a fitting recognition of Kochi’s growing importance on the urban map of India that the Union Government have sanctioned the Kochi Metro Rail Project to Kerala in July 2012. Kochi is the first tier-2 city in the country to be granted a metro under the Union Government’s scheme; whereby the Government of India and the State Government are equal equity partners in KMRL. In the construction of metro rail the risk involved is very high because the work was going on near the railway line and adjacent to the national highway. The individual risk along with the societal risk is also very high. The need of the proper risk assessment is to find out the hazards which has a potential to cause risk. Then it is calculated to find out the probability of occurrence of the hazards. In the risk matrix 1 4x4 matrix was chosen based on hazard scenario. The objective was to find out the probability and severity of this hazard and here the exposure was taken to be maximum. The exposure is always added to the severity and then multiplied to the probability of occurrence. The workers are directly exposed to hazards at the sites and the vulnerability of hazard is also maximum so it is a key step by taking exposure rate is maximum for a work site. In kochi metro rail project site the hazards were working near to the high traction line, working adjacent to the public area, working near to the national highway. By considering all the hazards the probability was found out by considering various factors and risk is also calculated. The main purpose of the risk analysis is to reduce the risk and increase the profitability by balancing the conflating objects.

The monograph examines the problems of sustainable development and energy efficiency using the scientific and methodological approach proposed by the authors for the development of regional fuel and energy programs based on the KhMAO, the Sverdlovsk region, and the oil and gas production enterprise JSC Yuganskneftegaz, and presents the results of the environmental and economic assessment. This approach allows us to evaluate and select the most effective investment project for the utilization of associated petroleum gas from the point of view of energy, environmental and climate security on comparable indicators (tons, rubles). The authors proposed to distinguish from more than 200 UN indicators four basic indicators: the change in the green area (country, region, city, household) for the year; the level of energy efficiency; the amount of pollutants released per year; the annual amount of greenhouse gas emissions. It is proposed to consider the possibility of using the" energy " ruble of S. A. Podolinsky (kW / h) as a possible world reserve currency. Taking into account the unique experience of the region's participation in various projects of sustainable development, energy-efficient and low-carbon economy, it is proposed to create a market for waste and greenhouse gas emissions on the basis of the trade exchange of the Sverdlovsk region as a pilot platform for the implementation of the green economy. The history of the term "green economy", the essence of this concept is considered; the results of the application of green economy in different countries are shown. The international experience of green solutions and technologies is analyzed, the psychological aspects of the transition to a green economy are studied. For all those interested in the environmental development of the economy.

Streszczenie:
AbstractGreen roofs are becoming common practice in building new public buildings and are considered the roofs for the future since they address the issue of energy and environment simultaneously, providing social, environmental and economic benefits. Despite these benefits, retrofitting an existing building with a green roof is not widely practiced. Undergoing such a project is no small task since it requires a thorough investigation of existing building's constraints, functional, material, and technological to even begin considering design options. Therefore, this process requires specific, case-sensitive approach, especially with the aim of improving the building’s energy performance. This paper presents a methodological approach and design proposals of a green roof retrofit project, through a case study of Belgrade’s “City Housing” building. This retrofit project presents an interesting research topic since it incorporates three distinct roofs, of all of different types, different ways of accessibility and levels of privacy, varying top-to-bottom from a simple extensive roof through a semi-public semi/intensive roof garden to a ground-level public park with trees and intensive vegetation. Also, since this building provides socially significant services, it is frequently visited by general public which presents a potential for introducing educational and demonstration elements in the retrofit project, not only the functional and technological ones. That way, this project can be a showcase example, promoting greening the roofs of Belgrade’s existing public buildings as a way of improving their energy performance.

AbstractCurrent urban development practices are predicted to be largely unsustainable, placing an increasing burden on surrounding ecological systems. One mitigation effort involves expanding green infrastructure and alleviating urban ecological challenges by building in cooperation with ecological processes. Cities are investing in large-scale green infrastructure projects such as urban parks, bioswales (roadside plantings), and green roofs. Recently, scientists have begun to explore the ecological principles that govern the assembly and long-term performance of rooftop communities. In Fall 2013 and Spring 2017, students in the Microbiology and Molecular Biology laboratory courses at Barnard College engaged in surveys of soil microbial communities from different types of green infrastructure installations to evaluate the factors that structure community assembly. These projects enabled students to witness and contribute to developing urban ecological sustainability measures. The results contributed to a successful grant application, a Master’s thesis, and several peer-reviewed publications with students as lead or co-authors. Two students, inspired by their exposure to green infrastructure, demonstrated the negative impacts of nitrogen deposition on sensitive roadside green infrastructure installations. Students expressed an increased feeling of ownership and pride due to the authenticity and novelty of their work and increased engagement with both the course project and ecological sustainability.

AbstractThe term “blue carbon” is still rather new, having been coined in 2009. However, the blue carbon concept and the role of blue carbon stored in shallow coastal ecosystems, as part of nature-based or green infrastructure, in mitigating climate change and providing other ecosystems services, such as disaster risk reduction, infrastructure resilience, erosion control, and land formation, have attracted the interest of many people worldwide. In this chapter, we first summarize the current status of blue carbon initiatives, including for carbon offsetting, worldwide. Then, we review three blue carbon offset credit projects that have already been implemented in Japan: (1) the blue carbon offset crediting projects of (1) Yokohama City, the first in the world; (2) Fukuoka City, the second such project in Japan; and (3) the first Japanese national governmental demonstration project. Finally, we discuss the need to accelerate the development of blue carbon offset credit projects and related initiatives in the future.

The City of Marion (“City”) and wastenotIowa, Inc. (WNI), along with other interested parties, has been considering the use of a plasma are gasification plant (“Plant”) as a technology that could reduce their future dependency on landfill disposal. As currently envisioned, the Plant would serve Linn County, including the City and the University of Iowa (“UI”) Oakdale research campus, located in Johnson County. In the next step of their evaluations, the City along with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has commissioned SCS Engineers (SCS) to perform a formal economic feasibility study of the Plant. The feasibility study included: •Assessing potential for other waste material other than municipal solid waste in the region as supplemental plant feedstock. •Assessing potential markets for the plasma plant byproducts. •Determining the feasibility, requirements and costs related to an interconnect with the power utility grid. •Assessing the option that the UI could potentially be the exclusive power customer for the Plant. •Developing a pro-forma model so that various options can be evaluated for the Plant capacity and material and energy output configurations over an assumed initial 20-year contract operating phase, including; –Production of syngas for conversion to electrical power –Production of syngas for direct use and conversion to fuel products –Production of insulation from slag to enhance project revenues. •Determining the potential economic impact of the Plant on the region.

Public works respond to a function and are linked to the territory where they are located. Its use and connection to the place become hallmarks and generating elements of urban processes. The roads are located close to the rivers where layouts are easier. Its relationship with the city is usually conflictive. River and city are also necessarily linked. The conversion from road to street requires a complex planning process and involves a deep transformation of its environment. Particularly significant is the case of Madrid and the ring road that develops along the Manzanares River, awarded prestigious Harvard prize for best urban design. There is much written about Madrid-River project and the enabling M-30 excavation work. This paper takes technical and architectural references to place them in a political and social process that gave rise and in the urban reality offered today to Madrid citizens. This project is a new landscape for the city where the river becomes a limit to be integrated into the urban area. New uses can be reconciled and linked through multiple paths, and neighborhoods from both sides are connected. Old and new landmarks coexist, viewpoints that overlook new river scenes are created and elements, related to landscape and territory, are incorporated. This corridor seeks ecological rebalance and connects different green spaces in the city. Public works are not just useful infrastructures in contemporary polis; they have strong influence in social cohesion and urban processes.

This paper explores how greener refrigeration and air-conditioning could be provided at city scale. Refrigeration and air-conditioning are major contributors to climate change, and demand for them is growing. Crucial obstacles to climate-friendly cooling solutions in developing countries in Asia are the lack of accessible and affordable financing and insufficient project scale. This paper discusses a variety of financing instruments and business models and presents an integrated model for financing city-scale green cooling. The model could help roll out green cooling solutions at a scale large enough to attract investors and to reduce transaction costs through standardized implementation.

This report explores the potential of Urban Agriculture (UA) to enhance food security, improve resource efficiency, and promote smart, resilient, and circular cities. The discussion is framed within the scope of the Horizon 2020 project ‘Sino-European Innovative Green and Smart Cities’ (SiEUGreen) which explored different pathways to turn waste into resources for growing food in cities through the combination of different technologies. These technologies were tested in five showcases: Campus Ås, in Ås, Norway; World Gardens and Brabrand Fællesgartneriet community gardens in Aarhus, Denmark; Turunçlu greenhouse in Atakya, Turkey; Sanyuan Farm, in Beijing, and Futiancangjun residential area in Changsha, China. The insights and knowledge gained with these showcases were the basis to discuss the barriers and drivers of UA in the transition to more sustainable and resilient circular cities, across five aspects (1) environmental, (2) technological, (3) economic, (4) social and cultural and (5) regulatory and institutional issues. The results suggest that city food provision and UA systems can be designed considering circular economy regenerative cycles, but it is important to promote local research that can highlight policy solutions to address context-related barriers and limitations. Among the main lessons learned across the different aspects, we highlight: - The need for more evidence-based research, clear monitoring tools and evaluation/assessment of the different UA typologies and their impact on the environment, society and economy; - The implementation of innovative technological developments that support and promote UA for reduce; reuse, recycle/recover resources require more experimentation, large-scale tests and validation both concerning their efficiency, positive environmental impacts, as well as economic viability; - The need for high investments, difficulties accessing financial support, underdeveloped business case for circular resource models, and limited recognition of the positive and indirect economic, environmental benefits of UA are among the main barriers that limit the uptake of agriculture in cities; - Despite the significant role UA can play in advancing a circular economy (e.g., by supporting sustainable local food systems, promoting community resilience and reducing waste), behaviour and cultural barriers were found to have a deep impact when fostering a closed-loop approach to UA, especially concerning overcoming prejudice against waste as a resource, - Local governance and public policy play a central role in framing and supporting UA (e.g., incentives, funding, regulatory frameworks) as a pathway that enables close loops in cities.
