Streszczenie:
This paper presents a probability density function (PDF) form of the population balance equation (PBE) for polysized and polyshaped droplets and solid particles in turbulent flows. A key contribution of this paper lies in the inclusion of an explicit consideration of the inertial effects and the shape of particles in the PDF-PBE formulation. The number density is taken as a function of droplet or particle size (volume) and shape as well as space and time. Potentially, other particle properties could also be included in the formulation. Inertial effects are quantified through the Stokes number, leading to accurate modelling of the different trajectories that are followed by droplets and/or particles with different sizes and shapes. To treat these effects, a new affordable approach is proposed and referred to as the method of Stokes binning. Here, the inertial dispersed elements are accelerated due to fluid dynamic forces associated with an averaged Stokes number in each bin. The model is validated against two data sets. The first data set includes a series of numerical test cases involving the injection of polyshaped droplets ranging in size from 1 to 50 $\unicode[STIX]{x03BC}\text{m}$ into a turbulent jet resulting in inlet Stokes numbers ranging from 0.03 to 75.2. The second data set consists of an experimental case focusing on the dispersion of 60 and 90 $\unicode[STIX]{x03BC}\text{m}$ spherical droplets in a turbulent round jet, resulting in inlet Stokes numbers of 53 and 122, respectively. The results confirm the ability of the approach to accurately model the polysized and polyshaped droplet dispersion using as few as eight Stokes bins. This approach has the potential to greatly reduce the computational cost of modelling the evolution of inertial droplets and particles in turbulent flows.

Initially, the plaques and patches were smaller in sizes, dark brown in color, painless and non-pruritic. Since 4th year of his age, these plaques start increasing in size and color turned into black gradually. The lesion on the scalp became a giant cerebriform plaque that involved left parietal region. Lesions on the trunk, upper and lower extremities became polysized and polyshaped hyperpigmented papules and nodules.

Streszczenie:
Introduction: Myoclonic-astatic epilepsy of early childhood (MAE)/Doose syndrome (DS) is an infrequent entity causing myoclonic-astatic seizures. Case Report: A 2-year-old male child presenting with history of seizures from one year, inability to speak and choreiform movements. He had isolated speech delay with other quadrants being normal (speaks monosyllables at two years). Parents noticed brief jerky movements of both upper and lower limbs with increasing intensity over 2–3 months which became a daily occurrence. Also, the child had episodes of abrupt loss of contact with surroundings and prolonged staring (3–5 minutes) and few eye blinks. Subsequently, by 1.5 years, he started having episodes of sudden forward bending of head followed by frequent falls. Jerks either preceded or followed falls. Decreased attention and hyperactivity had started by one year of the illness. Electroencephalography depicted polysharp waves with maximum voltage of 180 μV and 3–4 Hz@ an interval of 20–30 seconds bilaterally. He responded to oral sodium valproate, levetiracetam, and ketogenic diet. Conclusion: We report a 2-year-old male child with Doose syndrome, a distinct yet rare entity.

Streszczenie:
Synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNP) and gold nanoparticles (AuNP) was carried out by the reduction method with leaf extract of Ketapang (Terminalia catappa). The biomolecules present in the extract generated the reduction of Ag+ and Au3+ ions from AgNO3 and HAuCl4, respectively. The growth of nanoparticles was monitored by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The maximum absorption of biosynthesis of AgNP and AuNP were observed in the respective range of 421-431nm and 530-535nm. Those peaks correspond to surface plasmon absorbance of AgNP and AuNP, respectively. Analysis on the functional groups change of the extract by Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR) Spectroscopy showed the formation of carbonyl- from hydroxyl-groups which suggested the oxidation and reduction processes involved in the formation of both nanoparticles. The average size distributions determined by PSA (Particle Size Analyzer) are 55-71nm and 18-44nm for AgNP and AuNP, respectively. Morphology of the silver nanoparticles was observed by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and the structure of the compounds was characterized using X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The shape of AgNP varied from triangular, cubic and hexagonal polyshaped, while AuNP were spherical. XRD studies showed that the nanoparticles obtained were crystalline gold and silver.

Streszczenie:
A pot experiment under polyshed condition was carried out at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Gazipur during the period from 27 March 2017 to 5 May 2017 to study the physiological responses of mungbean varieties to drought stress under varying water regimes. The treatments consisted of four mungbean varieties, namely BARI Mung-5, BARI Mung-6, BUmug 2, BUmug 4 and three water regimes viz., 50 to 60% field capacity (FC), 70 to 80% FC and 90 to100% FC which were considered as severe drought stress, moderate drought stress and non-stress, respectively. The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design with factorial arrangement having four replications. Results indicated that BARI Mung-6 maintained significantly the highest relative water content, leaf water potential, proline content, shoot dry matter and lower rate of electrolyte leakage at 50 to 60% FC (severe drought stress). BUmug 2 showed the lowest performance in terms of all the water relation and physiological characters which indicates its higher sensitivity to severe drought stress. Variety BARI Mung-6 was relatively water stress tolerant than others in respect of physiological adaptations. So, BARI Mung-6 can be a potential variety for cultivation under drought condition where irrigation facility is limited. Bangladesh J. Agril. Res. 44(1): 1-11, March 2019

Streszczenie:
Nanoparticles can be synthesised using a variety of methods. These approaches, on the other hand, are connected with the development of undesired byproducts that are both harmful and expensive. As a result, several attempts are being undertaken to develop unique, cost-effective, safe, and dependable "green" techniques for producing desirable nanoparticles. To develop a novel, environment-friendly, economic, safe approach to the synthesis of gold nanoparticles via the biological entity. Addition of aqueous gold chloride solution to the microwave-exposed aqueous extracellular Cassia tora leaf extract yielded poly shaped gold nanoparticles. The UV-vis. spectroscopic investigations are led to notice and affirm the formation of nanoparticles. FTIR studies are performed to affirm the role of a biomolecule in stabilizing the nanoparticles. X-beam diffraction study is utilized to affirm the crystalline nature of nanoparticles. The elemental characterization of the samples is regulated by EDX studies. The size and morphology of the synthesized nanoparticles are explored using HR-TEM analysis and FESEM. It is seen that the flavonoids which are separated during microwave warming of extracellular solution of the cassia tora leaves are liable for the biosynthesis of gold nanoparticles. The nanoparticle was noted to be well dispersed and polyshaped with a 20-60 nm range. The leaf extract based preparation of AuNP is more gainful since leaf is used instead of microorganism as many of the issues like pathogenicity, procedural maintenance of hygiene of cell culture and labor efforts can be overcome. The presence of flavonoids in the leaf was discovered by the examination of produced nanoparticles, suggesting that they may have fulfilled both reduction and stabilisation activities. The presented approach can be inferred to be cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and capable of manufacturing nanoparticles with desired physical and pharmacological properties.
