Pełny tekst źródłaDeveloping new absorber material for solar thermal power is a key step in the enhancement of renewable energies. The current working temperature of the absorber in power plant is too low (450°C) and must be raised to at least 650°C to enhance the yield of the plant. New absorber materials must be developed, to resist such high temperatures for many years, without losing their optical selectivity. Multilayer composite materials show promising results, especially platinum-alumina multilayer because of their good thermal stability. The aim of this PhD was to develop an absorber presenting a good solar absorption and to study the degradation mechanisms taking place during the aging at 650°C in air. Therefore, we studied the platinum-alumina multilayer. We used optical simulation to optimize the structure of our absorber. Then we realized these structures by magnetron sputtering and we performed optical characterizations to verify the optical selectivity. Values of absorption and emissivity of α=0.95 and ε=0.18 were obtained. At that point, we performed aging tests on our absorbers to study the degradation mechanisms taking place during aging at 650°C and to find ways to avoid those degradations in future applications

Pełny tekst źródłaThis report is dedicated to the realization and the characterization of a platinum/alumina bonding designed for high temperature captor. An original fabrication method, thermocompression, was studied and a complete characterization of its resistance was driven by tensile test. An important variability with the tensile results has lead to use the Weibull statistics tool. That method has shown clearly the good strength of our bonding and its excellent resistance to severe thermal cycles. Simulations of interfacial diffusion and platinum‘s plastic deformation during thermocompression have been made to evaluate the process parameters influence. Epitaxial growth of platinum thin films on basal-plane sapphire has also been realized. The comparison of these films adhesion with that of the thermocompression one has shown very similar results. The thermocompression appear thus to be a very good solution for industrial applications

Pełny tekst źródłaThe results presented in this manuscript have aimed at preparing catalytic materials based on noble metals for the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOC). Thus, different platinum based catalysts have been prepared and their catalytic performances have been evaluated for n-butanol and acetic acid oxidation. A first study on oxidative and non-oxidative removal of n-butanol over alumina supported platinum based catalysts has been performed. This work focused on the study of the effect of the different parameters involved in the reaction (oxygen, water, metal). The adsorption-desorption phenomenon of the pollutant on the catalyst surface has also been studied.Inspired by the literature on the specific redox properties of ceria, the work was then focused on the effect of the addition of CeO2 to Pt/Al2O3 catalysts for n-butanol and acetic acid oxidation. The modification of the redox and acid-base properties as well as that of the catalytic performances of the material with the addition of CeO2 allowed to establish a relationship between catalytic oxidation activities, oxygen storage capacity and basicity. This correlation has been confirmed in the last study performed on the monolithic catalysts coated with different materials (Pt/Al2O3, Pt/CeO2, Pt/ZrO2, Pt/Al2O3-CeO2, Pt/Al2O3-ZrO2 and Pt/CeO2-ZrO2)

Pełny tekst źródłaThe aim of this study is to improve the microstructural properties and the microscopic mechanisms formation of the Pt modified aluminide coatings according to the treatment parameters. At first, we characterise aluminide coatings fabricated with the prior Pt diffusion aluminizing treatment. It appears that the final aluminide microstructure depends only on the different types of donor, which allows the suppression of the Pt diffusion. We also deposit the aluminide coatings with an aluminizing treatment without prior Pt diffusion. We show that the aluminide coating is either a monophased (Ni, Pt)Al structure, or a two-phase PtAl2/NiAl structure or a two-phase PtAl2/NiAl structure with a continuous PtAl2 layer at the surface, with respect to the type of donor. These results allow us to control the quality control of the aluminizing treatment. Then we studied the growth of these phases in the case of a continuous PtAl2 layer at the surface. It appears that this layer forms at the beginning of this treatment and stays stable during the aluminizing. After all platinum is transformed into PtAl2, aluminum diffuses across this layer to form NiAl. However, Ni does not diffuse sufficiently from the substrate to transform PtAl2 into NiAl. We also showed the strong PtAl2 stability. The use of EXAFS technique allows us to demonstrate that the Ni maximum solubility in PtAl2 is 37. 5 at% and that the Ni, Pt and Al sublattices are the same in (Pt, Ni)Al2 and (Ni, Pt)Al phases. The PtAl2 è NiAl transformation is only due to Ni insertion in PtAl2. A bibliographic study of diffusion mechanisms in NiAl intermetallic allows to explain the strong difference between nickel and aluminum diffusion in the PtAl2 phase. The presence of platinum atoms on the same sublattice than nickel atoms decreases the nickel diffusivity in the (Pt, Ni)Al2 and (Ni, Pt)Al phases

Pełny tekst źródłaBifunctional heterogeneous catalysts consisting of metallic sites and acidic sites are used in various processes and the impact of active site proximity in catalytic efficiency can be expressed as an “intimacy criterion” according to the literature. Platinum supported on chlorinated γ-Al2O3 is the traditional catalyst for catalytic naphtha reforming and is at the core of the present work. Herein, a multi-technique approach, including HR-HAADF-STEM, electron tomography, high field MAS NMR, HERFD-XANES, EXAFS, and DFT calculations, was applied to determine the location of the metallic and acidic sites on the Al2O3 support crystallites for Pt/ γ-Al2O3 -Cl catalysts and to estimate the distance between such sites. The samples, representative of the industrial catalysts, were synthesized so as to vary the distance between the two types of sites as a function of three key parameters: %Pt, %Cl and γ-Al2O3 crystallite size and shape.By building the first DFT model of crystallite edge between the (110) and (100) surfaces, an improved 1H NMR peak assignment was proposed and it was found that µ1-OH on the edge are preferably exchanged with Cl. STEM analysis showed that reduced Pt nanoparticles are of 0.9 nm and that around 20% of Pt is in the form of single atoms, which are stabilized by Cl. By electron tomography it was revealed that Pt nanoparticles are mostly located on the edges of alumina crystallites and that the quantified inter-Pt particles distance is directly tuned through %Pt. A first geometrical model of the location of Pt and Cl on the catalyst is proposed. The improved understanding of the location of active sites and their proximity in catalytic reforming catalysts gained though this work paves the way to catalyst improvement based on tuning of active site location

Pełny tekst źródłaPlant Biomass (renewable source of carbon) can be used to make liquid fuels and basic products of chemistry. So, from about ten years, the APHDO (Aqueous Phase HydroDeOxygenation) process is developed for the direct transformation in aqueous phase of polyols from Biomass (such as sorbitol) into renewable alkanes (C5-C6). This process involves a metal/acid bifunctional heterogeneous catalysis and competitive C-O and C-C bond cleavages. The aim of the PhD work is to develop supported bimetallic systems active and selective for the transformation of sorbitol into hexane. The modification of a reference Pt/SiO2-Al2O3 catalyst by addition of Re, Ir, Pd, Rh and Ru is carried out by three synthesis methods: co-impregnation, successive impregnations and deposit by catalytic reduction. The performances of bimetallic catalysts are compared at sorbitol isoconversion to those of the parent monometallic catalysts for a catalytic test carried out in an autoclave with an aqueous solution of sorbitol (10 wt%) at 240°C and 60 bar total pressure under dihydrogen. The products are distributed in the gas phase (CO2, C1-C6 alkanes) and in the liquid phase (oxygenated compounds). Sorbitan and isosorbide are predominantly formed in the liquid phase, the latter being a key intermediate of sorbitol transformation in this study. Pt-Ru/SiO2-Al2O3 catalysts are the most selective for the reaction, the one prepared by successive impregnations leads to a higher proportion of C6 in gaseous phase compared to both monometallic Pt/SiO2-Al2O3 and Ru/SiO2-Al2O3 catalysts

These catalysts provide Lewis as well as Brønsted acidity and hydrogenation ability. Those multifunctional catalysts can be used for multi step conversions of substrates performed in a one pot process. The potential of the synthesized catalysts was shown in the two step conversion of citronellal to menthols and in the three step conversion of citral to menthols.

Pełny tekst źródłaBifunctional hydrocracking catalysts require both Brønsted acid sites and metal sites. Hence, the intimacy between acid sites and metal sites can influence the activity and selectivity of the reaction. We intended to explore the effect of metal sites-acid sites distance on the conversion of n-heptane by designing platinum catalysts supported on alumina-zeolite nanostructures. For this, we studied the synthesis of nanoscale colloidal suspensions of zeolite NaY (20 nm) beta (30 nm), ZSM-5 (50 nm). Composite materials were then prepared either by direct synthesis in the presence of a support, or by contacting these colloidal suspensions (at appropriate pH conditions) with suspensions of boehmite (turning into γ-alumina by calcination). Zeolite-core@alumina-crown composite crown) were thus obtained. The platinum particles were thereafter selectively formed on the alumina or zeolite domains of these composites using the appropriate precursor of platinum in a suitable pH range (pH = 5-8). The thus-prepared catalysts were compared with other catalysts, for which the distance between the acid sites and the metal sites varies between nm and μm scales, to form a series of catalysts with variable acid-metal distances and accessibilities. Catalytic study concluded that improving accessibility to the active sites (Pt0 / Alumina-nanozéolithe) improves the selectivity to isomerization, while the distance plays an inhibitory role only when it reaches a scale of several microns
