Pełny tekst źródłaAfforestation and management of introduced forest tree species have considerable consequences on the biodiversity. The managers require more scientific research to better understand these consequences and to enhance the biodiversity in their actions. Our objective is to analyse the effect (i) of the afforestation, on plant species diversity, by three introduced forest tree species (Pseudotsuga menziesii, Pinus Laricio, Cedrus atlantica) and (ii) of the chesnut presence (Castanea sativa) in the understory mixed with these species. This work was carried out in the Cevennes region where considerable surfaces of these species have been planted in the last decades. Afterwards, the relation between plant species diversity and certain parameters, related or not to the silviculture of these species, such as stand dendrometric characteristics, Leaf Area Index (LAI), soil surface state and the flora of the station, was analyzed. .
Antoine, Raphaël. "Exploration et modélisation de la circulation d'air dans le Piton de la Fournaise et Cerberus Fossae (Mars)". Toulouse 3, 2009. http://thesesups.ups-tlse.fr/748/.
Pełny tekst źródłaAt Piton de La Fournaise, there is no obvious surface manifestations of the hydrothermal system between éruptions. This phenomenon has been explained by the cooling of the volcano, induced by the important rain infiltrations within the structure. In this study, we propose that this highly permeable volcano is cooled by an intense air convection. To support this hypothesis, we study the air flow within a 50 m-large cone located on the volcano from infrared, subsurface temperature, anemometric, gravimetric and ground penetrating radar data. In particular, we determine the relationships between the thermal field and the electric field induced by the air flow within the cone. Finally, these relationships are used to propose that the entire volcano is cooled by air convection. This discovery has important implications for the volcanic structure of other planets. On Mars, we use THEMIS-IR data to study the convective air flow within the permeable soil of Cerberus fractures

Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis consists in a phytosociological and phytodynamical study of an area on sanstone in the North-East of France. The vegetation has been studied according to the principles of the "sigmatist" method, by using numerical analysis to recognize the plant communities. 19 associations, corresponding to forests, outskirts, heaths, sandy lawns, initial stages and peat bogs are described on the floristical and phytosociological level. Their ecological and chorological features are precised and these communities are compared to their equivalents of Eastern and Central Europe. The different plant successions and series, primary and secondary, progressive and regressive, are then defined by synchronical way, and compared to their equivalents, recognized in other phytogeographical areas. These results are applied to the protective gestion of secondary communities of great floristical and phytogeographical interest, specially heaths, lawns, initial stages and some peat bog communities. In conclusion, the original phytogeographical position of this area, forming an enclave with boreo-continental affinities in the subatlantic belt, is stated
Moreaux, Virginie. "Observation et modélisation des échanges d’énergie et de masse de jeunes peuplements forestiers du Sud-Ouest de la France". Thesis, Bordeaux 1, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012BOR14506/document.
Pełny tekst źródłaIn this thesis, the juvenile phase of forest stands of southwestern France was studied in order to characterise soil-vegetation-atmosphere exchanges. The study focused on contrasted structures of young pines and Eucalyptus stands. The first part of this research was to study experimentally the mass and energy exchanges of young plantations of pines and Eucalyptus growing in southwestern France. Continuous measurements of CO2 and H2O fluxes, energy balance, sapflow and tree growth and production were carried out for two years, a period marked by repeated episodes of drought. The behavior of these species was compared, as well as the effects of the environment and cultural practices on these ecosystems. The annual water and carbon balances, growth and production of the three stands were established and compared. These measurements were enriched by data already available and were based on the 1D-mechanistic model of forest production and soil-vegetation-atmosphere transfer GRAECO (INRA-EPHYSE). The second part of the thesis focused on developing a new version of the model to be applied to crop systems for fast-growing forest biomass. By coupling this evolution of the model with the 3D-model MAESTRA (Medlyn 2004), the assumptions of vertical and horizontal homogeneities in the canopy can be exceeded thus accounting for the effect of the three-dimensional structure on the radiative, CO2 and water vapor transfers in young stands, where crowns are separate and the understorey is well-developed. In addition, the model was supplemented by three new modules describing the dynamics of soil carbon (Roth-C) and the growth and functioning of the understory and coppice. It was evaluated on existing data covering different sites and time series and including a series of forest practices, such as plowing, stump removal, superficial disking, seeding, early thinning, thinnings and cutting down close to the ground. Finally, as an exploratory work, this model has been implemented on a data set describing the local climate forced by the A2 climate scenario which was regionalized on a SAFRAN grid point (‘Météo-France’) for three forest itineraries of maritime pine and Eucalyptus, in order to assess the potential productivity of these systems

Acheampong, Akwasi. "Development of lc-ms method to identify triacylglycerols in resinous seed oils". Thesis, Paris 11, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011PA112083.
Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis consisted of developing a new analytical strategy using liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MSn) to identify in oils and fats, triglycerides (TAGs) and their regio-specificity. The general analytical methodology was applied to 8 conifers seed oils, in particular, the seed oil of Pinus koraiensis. These conifer seed oils differ from common edible vegetable oils by having a series of unusual polyunsaturated fatty acids (UPIFA) with a polymethylene-interrupted (PMI) double bond system and a double bond at the 5 position which may have anti-cholesterol properties. This thesis is composed of four chapters: the two first chapters, literature review, are devoted respectively to TAGs of the 8 resinous seed oils studied and analytical techniques already used. The third chapter is dedicated to the development of a new analytical strategy combining HPLC with mass spectrometry method to identify TAGs in Pinus Koraiensis seed oil. Thanks to post column addition of silver salt, it was possible to determine the TAGs present by Ag+-NARP-LC-MS and also the fatty acids composition of the TAGs by Ag+-NARP-LC-MS2. Concerning the distinction between TAGs with the same mass, same chain length but differing positions of double bond on fatty acid chain, it was determined by chromatographic retention rules which link linearly the logarithm of retention factor of each TAG to the total carbon number or the total number of double bonds. This study has identified 22 new TAGs from a total of 58 TAGs characterized. It confirmed the knowledge that the saturated fatty acid with 17 carbon atoms is branched, not linear. It highlighted the presence of three constituent fatty acids that have never been described: 19:1, 19:2 and 24:0 in the seed oil of Pinus koraiensis. The last experimental part is devoted to the regiospecificity determination of TAGs. Three methodologies were developed. The first one used the ratios of diacylglycerol ions of TAGs but was not reliable enough. The second method used the LC-MS4 experiments (It is relevant if they have available couples of TAG standards). Finally, a third method, using MS2, based on the principle of the method of competitive dissociation of a pair [TAGref - Li-TAG] +. Using the method of standard additions it has been shown that it requires the availability of one of the two stereoisomers TAGs as a standard. These methods provide a significantly different approach to regioisomer characterization of TAGs and overcome most of the shortcomings of existing methodologies
Nakhoul, Joseph. "Dynamique et facteurs influençant la régénération naturelle de Pinus pinea L. au Mont Liban". Thesis, Aix-Marseille, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020AIXM0105.
Pełny tekst źródłaPinus pinea L. is a species of great ecological and economic importance in the Mediterranean region and particularly in Lebanon. Our study aims to produce a first classification of pine forests according to their floristic composition and site factors in Mount Lebanon region, to analyze natural regeneration of pine and to specify stands dynamics. Based on field study (50 plots), we showed that most of pine forests of Mount Lebanon were dense (849 stems.ha-1) and old (81 years) with a high basal area (49 m2.ha-1). Pine regeneration was particularly limited with a preferential installation of oaks (Q. calliprinos mainly and Q. infectoria secondarily) in the understory. Based on a field study also, we found a very significant effect of soil disturbances, in particular soil scarification, that have favored seedlings emergence and early survival, even if final mortality was very high. Laboratory experiment showed a negative effect of litter as well as an autotoxic effect of aqueous extract of green needles on seed germination and seedling growth. These studies allow us to conclude that pine is certainly not a "climacic" species in the trajectories of succession as it has been affirmed in previous phytosociological studies. Indeed, regeneration blocking factors are strong and we have underlined in particular the unfavorable role played by the litter. The pine stands naturally change towards oak formations. The renewal of old pine stands in Mount Lebanon region therefore requires an active management
