Personality ratings of 196 cats were made by their owners using a 5-point Likert scale anchored by 1: not at all and 5: a great deal with 12 items: timid, friendly, curious, sociable, obedient, clever, protective, active, independent, aggressive, bad-tempered, and emotional. A principal components analysis with varimax rotation identified three intepretable components. Component I had high loadings by active, clever, curious, and sociable. Component II had high loadings by emotional, friendly, and protective, Component III by aggressive and bad-tempered, and Component IV by timid. Sex was not associated with any component, but age showed a weak negative correlation with Component I. Older animals were rated less social and curious than younger animals.

The current paper was aimed at prediction of follow-up of personality types A and B based on Neo personality traits. Participants in the present article included 100 people referring to diet centers in Tankabon who were selected by simple random sampling method. Neo personality characteristics questionnaire and McCrae and Costa questionnaire (1985) and the Personality types A and B questionnaire by Burn Reuter were used. Findings revealed that there was a significant relationship between personality types A and B Scores and Neo personality characteristics components at the 0/05 level and the latter, i.e. Neo personality characteristics components would predict 65/8% of the personality types A and B variations. Also, results of variance analysis indicate significance of this prediction and from among the Neo personality characteristics components; the component of conscientiousness contributed most to prediction of personality types A and B.

Abstract To further the potential for applied personality studies, we present a methodology for assessing personality in nonhuman animals without a priori assumptions, using behavioral measures to discriminate personality survey results. Our study group consisted of 12 free-ranging, provisioned, adult Tibetan macaques Macaca thibetana at the Valley of the Wild Monkeys, China. We asked familiar Chinese park guards and scientists to rate each of the 12 macaques using 27-item personality surveys. We also recorded behavioral observations (> 100 hrs) from August–September, 2012. The personality surveys showed reliability in 22 of the items that were then utilized in a principal component analysis that revealed five components: Insecurity, Reactivity, Boldness, Sociability, and Leadership. Prior personality research on Macaca show comparable components. In order to determine which behaviors would best predict those five personality components, we conducted discriminant analyses using behavioral measures as predictors. We found that behavioral measures of avoidance, lunging, fear-grinning, self-directed behaviors, touching, proximity and chasing could significantly predict personality component scores in certain situations. Finally, we analyzed the effects of situation (provisioning and tourists) and found situation influenced proximity and rates of avoidance and self-directed behaviors. Wider implementation of this methodology may permit long-term analysis of personality using behavioral proxies for established personality traits, in particular on research investigating the effects of tourism and provisioning on personality.

The article analyses and summarizes the views on the coach’s personality in sports that are available in modern sci- entific and methodological literature and in the Internet resources. Attention is drawn to the fact that although the points of view differ, it is possible to single out those properties of a coach's personality that, according to scientists, determine the achievement of success in sports activities: gnostic, design, constructive, communicative and orga- nizational properties. The results of own research include the motivational component of the coach’s personality; organizational and communication skills as components of their pedagogical mastery; professionally important personality traits of coaches that determine the individual style of their activities; data from the analysis of the degree of formation of professional burnout and the current state of coaches. The obtained data are compared and explained according to the professional categories of coaches (A and B), who participated in the research. The formation and improvement of the personal qualities necessary for the successful professional activity of a football coach are very important and should be under the constant control of the individual; changes of admissible person- al indicators of professionally significant properties in trainers are related to the level of their professional skill, de- pend on level of emotional burnout and deviation from autogenous norm (according to an indicator of vegetative coefficient); revealed mainly low and intermediate level of ability to empathize in the surveyed coaches, regardless of category, age and experience, suggests that they have insufficient training of pedagogical skills.

Personality term refer to a principal that unite biological and social aspects. Personality defined differently by each psychological perspective. Freud with his psychoanalysis defined personality by hierarchy that consists of id, ego, and super ego. Alfred Adler as individual psychology theorist considered personality as medium that arranged facts and transform it into a personal and unique personality formed by self creativity. Jung with his analytical psychology suggested that personality or psyche is a dynamic with continually movement. Each personalilty aspect is required to complete an optimal differentiation and development level to achieve a healthy and integrated personality. Behaviorism considered behavior as main factor in defining personality. The personality components that consistent is the behavior it self. Individual personalities affect animal experiences of zoo environments, impact on an animal’s coping ability and have potential implications for welfare. Keeper assessments have been identified as a quick and reliable way of capturing data on personality in a range of species and have practical application in improving animal welfare on an individual level. Despite widespread recognition of the importance of animal personality within a zoo environment, there is a paucity of research into tiger personality and the potential impact of this on tiger experiences within zoos. This research investigated the personality of 34 tigers (19 Amur and 15 Sumatran) across 14 facilities in the UK using keeper ratings and identified changes keepers made in animal husbandry to support tiger welfare. Reliability across keepers (n = 49) was established for nine adjectives and a principal component analysis identified three personality components: ‘anxious’, ‘quiet’ and ‘sociable’. When subspecies were combined, there was no relationship between tiger scores on the personality components and age or sex of tigers (p > 0.05). Subspecies of tiger was not related to scores on the ‘quiet’ or ‘sociable’ components (p > 0.05). Sumatran tigers scored more highly than Amur tigers on the ‘anxious’ component (mean ± SD, Sumatran: 3.0 ± 1.7, Amur: 1.8 ± 0.6, p < 0.05). Analysis within subspecies found that male Amur tigers were more sociable than females (mean ± SD, males: 5.5 ± 0.707; females: 4.15 ± 0.55). Amur tiger age was also negatively correlated with scores on the sociable personality component (R = −0.742, p < 0.05). No significant differences were seen in Sumatran tigers. Keepers reported a number of changes to husbandry routines based on their perceptions of their tigers’ personality/needs. However, there was no significant relationship between these changes and tiger personality scores (p > 0.05). Despite significant evolutionary differences between Amur and Sumatran tigers, there are no subspecies specific guidelines for zoo tigers. This research has highlighted the potential for these two subspecies to display personality differences and we advocate further research into this area. Specifically, we highlight a need to validate the relationship between tiger personality, management protocols and behavioural and physiological metrics of welfare. This will enable a fuller understanding of the impact of personality on zoo tiger experiences and will enable identification of evidence-based best practice guidelines.

The category of personality is one of the basic concepts for psychology, but at the same time the most controversial in theoretical and methodological terms. That is why the study of personal characteristics in different populations, ethnicities, ages, professional groups, etc. still does not lose its relevance in the scientific field. Given that certain components of individual personality traits are innate, it is advisable to find connections between them and the characteristics of the human body. The purpose of the work is to determine and analyze the peculiarities of correlations between indicators of body structure and size and personality indicators of practically healthy women with mesomorphic somatotype. Primary anthropo-somatotypological and personality indicators of 33 practically healthy Ukrainian women of the first mature age of mesomorphic somatotype were selected from the data bank of materials of the research center of National Pirogov Memorial Medical University, Vinnytsya. The analysis of correlations between anthropo-somatotypological and indicators of personality traits was performed in the licensed package "Statistica 6.1" using the non-parametric Spearman's method. Multiple, mostly reliable, medium-strength straight lines (r = -0.35 to -0.50), Eysenck G. insincerity scales with the majority of girth dimensions, thickness of skin and fat folds, somatotype components, and body weight component composition; multiple, mostly significant medium-strength inverse (r = -0.37 to -0.52) correlations of the exaltation character of the exalted type according to Shmishek G. with the majority of girth dimensions, the majority of pelvic sizes, somatotype components and components of body weight composition; multiple significant mean strength inverse (r = -0.38 to -0.49) correlations of the extraversion-introversion scale according to Eysenck G. with the thickness of the skin and fat folds of the upper limb and under the shoulder blade. In other cases, single, medium-strength, reliable and unreliable direct and inverse correlations of anthropo-somatotypological indicators with the leading typological characteristics of temperament, psychodynamic features of personality and indicators of severity and features of accentuated personality traits. As a result of quantitative analysis of reliable and unreliable average correlations of anthropo-somatotypological indicators with personality traits of practically healthy women of mesomorphic somatotype, the highest relative percentage of correlations was found between: leading typological characteristics of temperament according to Eysenck G. and somatotype components body weight composition and body girth; psychodynamic personality traits according to Spielberger C. D. and longitudinal body size, thickness of skin and fat folds and components of the somatotype; indicators of severity and features of accentuated personality traits according to Shmishek G. and indicators of the component composition of body weight, somatotype components, body circumference and thickness of skin and fat folds; indicators of the level of subjective control over Rotter J. and the width of the distal epiphyses of the extremities and the transverse dimensions of the body.

The study focuses on the model of structural components of personalmeaning and is based on the spatial organization of human life. The article describes the components of the semantic sphere in all the conceptual diversity of psychological approaches to the phenomenology of the process in question. The author analyzes theoretical and methodological orientation of modern psychology at the personal potential of semantic entities as a condition for integrated wholesome personality. One’s personality is represented by the subject and, at the same time, by the object of one’s own life. Personal meaning is defined as a complex system formation, which includes cognitive (life views, ideals, values, beliefs, and interests), emotive (emotional and evaluative attitude to oneself and to others) and cognitive (behavior, interpersonal interaction, focus and behavior in different social conditions) components. The process of meaning integration is accompanied by harmonization and unification of the structural components in a coherent system, i.e. the system of personal meanings. The system as a whole acquires new qualities, not present in the individual components, the personal meaning being the apex of personality integration. Components of the proposed model structurally reflect the methodological potential of the concept of personal meaning. The research aims at creating an integrated approach to the study of the semantic determination of personality.

The paper presents data on general level and expression of components of rehabilitation potential of per¬sonality in such chronic conditions as gastrointestinal and cardiovascular diseases, cancer, HIV/AIDS. It is stated that rehabilitation potential is closely connected with some other personality resources that promote a better rehabilitation and readaptation of patients, e.g. existential fulfillment, optimism, activity, vitality. The paper describes features of rehabilitation potential (in particular, its component — the inner picture of disease) and of several personality dispositions observed in various chronic conditions. As it was revealed, personality resources are most evident in young and middle-aged individuals with gastrointestinal diseases and least evi¬dent in their peers living with HIV/AIDS. Also, a correlation was found between the decrease of personality potential and chemical addiction in persons with HIV/AIDS. Finally, the paper describes a special technique that was developed by the authors in order to define the general index of rehabilitation potential and those of its components — motivational, emotional, self-evaluative communicative components and the inner picture of disease.

Since the financial crisis in 2008 the investigation of financial literacy–especially its components (personality, attitudes, behaviour etc.) - is in the limelight. Modern economics have recognized that in order to effectively forecast financial and economic processes it is primordial to understand the attitudes of the members of society toward finances, as well as the characteristics of various social group sharing the same views and behaviours. In 2015 two relevant pieces of research were conducted in this topic in Hungary. One focuses on the financial personality types, while the other investigates Hungarians’ financial culture in general based on the research methodology of the OECD. Based on these two databases our comparative study highlights the main characteristics of financial personality types. The three clusters based on the OECD research cover the nine personality types from the results of the other Hungarian research. Our findings show that the cluster of “anxious unsatisfied” encapsulates the “economizers with little money”, the “price sensitive” and the “collector” personality types. Furthermore, the “satisfied conscious” covers the “order creates value”, the “diligent” and the “planner” personality types. Finally, the “moderately anxious unconsidered” involves the “ups and downs”, the “money-devouring” and the “cannot control finances” personality types. The clusters identified during the research show idiosyncratic financial and psychological vulnerability and/or protection.

The network perspective represents a novel contribution to personality theory by conceptualising personality traits as emerging from the mutual dependencies between fundamental and causal affective, behavioural, and cognitive components. We argue that incorporating a more nuanced biological and developmental perspective to causality and a more precise approach to affective, behavioural, cognitive and motivational components may serve to enrich the network perspective. Although the graphical approach to modelling personality is aesthetically pleasing, analytic techniques are not yet available to put network models to the (quantitative) test. Streszczenie:
In one currently dominant view on personality, personality dimensions (e.g. extraversion) are causes of human behaviour, and personality inventory items (e.g. ‘I like to go to parties’ and ‘I like people’) are measurements of these dimensions. In this view, responses to extraversion items correlate because they measure the same latent dimension. In this paper, we challenge this way of thinking and offer an alternative perspective on personality as a system of connected affective, cognitive and behavioural components. We hypothesize that these components do not hang together because they measure the same underlying dimension; they do so because they depend on one another directly for causal, homeostatic or logical reasons (e.g. if one does not like people and it is harder to enjoy parties). From this ‘network perspective’, personality dimensions emerge out of the connectivity structure that exists between the various components of personality. After outlining the network theory, we illustrate how it applies to personality research in four domains: (i) the overall organization of personality components; (ii) the distinction between state and trait; (iii) the genetic architecture of personality; and (iv) the relation between personality and psychopathology. We report solutions for one through six components for self-ratings (N = 559) on 449 familiar English personality-descriptive adjectives (see Lee & Ashton, 2008 ). The first unrotated component mainly contrasted desirable with undesirable characteristics. The varimax-rotated two-component solution contained dimensions closely resembling the Social Self-Regulation and Dynamism constructs of Saucier et al. (2014) . The three-component solution contained dimensions closely resembling the Affiliation, Dynamism, and Order constructs of De Raad et al. (2014) . In the four-component solution, an Emotional Stability dimension emerged, absorbing some variance from dimensions of the three-component solution. The five-component solution added an Intellect/Imagination/Unconventionality (Openness) component, and thus resembled the classic Big Five structure (e.g., Goldberg, 1990 ). In the six-component solution, the variance of the Big Five Agreeableness and Emotional Stability components was reorganized, producing components corresponding to HEXACO Agreeableness and to rotated variants of HEXACO Emotionality and Honesty-Humility. Solutions based on peer ratings (N = 303) were generally similar to those based on self-ratings, but showed a much larger first unrotated component.

The purpose of the present study is to find the common kernel of different trait taxonomic studies and find out how the individual structures relate to this common kernel. Trait terms from 11 psycholexically based taxonomies were all translated into English. On the basis of the commonalities in English, the 11 matrices were merged into a joint matrix with 7104 subjects and 1993 trait terms. Untranslatable terms produced large areas with missing data. To arrive at the kernel structure of the joint matrix, a simultaneous component analysis was applied. In addition, the kernel structures were compared with the individual taxonomy trait structures, obtained via principal component analysis. The findings provide evidence of a structure consisting of three components to stand out as the core of the taxonomies included in this study; those components were named dynamism, affiliation, and order. Moreover, the relations between these three kernel components and those of a six–component solution (completing the six–factor model) are provided. The a im of this research was to examine the relations between the HEXACO facets and aggressiveness components (anger, vengefulness, domination, hostility, reactive aggression, proactive aggression, and indirect aggression). On a sample of 654 participants from general population, HEXACO?60, Aggressiveness Questionnaire AVDH, Reactive?Proactive Aggression Questionnaire (RPQ), and Indirect Aggression Scale (IAS) were applied. The results of the community structure network analysis provided the most informative insight into these relations and showed that all aggressiveness components formed a single community with the Agreeableness facets. Thereby, facet Patience was the strongest correlate of anger, and hostility had the highest clustering coefficient, which brings together the Agreeableness facets and aggressiveness components. Although Honesty?Humility formed a separate community, some of its facets had strong isolated connections with indirect aggression and dominance. The results revealed that Agreeableness is a dominant correlate of aggressiveness and captures all aggressiveness components, while Honesty? Humility is related to specific components, referring to a manifestation of aggressiveness in a more subtle and indirect way.

This study explored whether scores on intelligence tests and personality questionnaires can predict performance in an adult basic education and training (ABET) programme. Participants in ABET programmes often have limited English reading skills, which make the use of conventional assessment tools problematic. A proposed solution is to utilise instruments that make limited demands on the use of language. Raven's Progressive Matrices (RPM), a well-established intelligence test, and the Five Factor-Nonverbal Personality Questionnaire (FF-NPQ) are both instruments that do not require any reading. The performance of 82 participants in the practical and academic components of an ABET programme was correlated with the RPM and the five traits of the FF-NPQ, namely, Extraversion, Conscientiousness, Openness to Experience, Neuroticism and Agreeableness. The RPM correlated significantly with both the practical ( r= 0.47) and academic components ( r= 0.35). The Agreeableness scale of the FF-NPQ correlated significantly with the practical component ( r = 0.34). No personality scale correlated significantly with the academic component. The results show that non-verbal intelligence tests and personality inventories can be potentially useful in the prediction of performance in an ABET programme.

The aim of the research is to clarify the components of the I-concept of the personality that promote maturity to forgive the adolescents in social-correction groups. The research results statistically reveal a meaningful interconnection among forgiveness and the components of the personality I-concept, for instance, the interconnection between the scale of forgiveness and the pesonality’s associations with I-real components, i.e., the submission to peer pressure and dependency components are linked with the emotional responsiveness scale in accordance with the questionnaire about forgiveness; also, the personality concept about the I- ideal components which are friendship and dependency as well as the authoritarian components are linked with the emotional responsiveness scale according to the questionnaire about forgiveness. Assisting adolescents and youth psychologically, the possible assistance should be focused on revealing I-in the Eyes of the Others. The analysis of the results let us judge that the concept of I- ideal differs greatly from I- real; in such cases the individual experiences discomfort and dissatisfaction as well. In the research discrepancies turned up in the personality I-concept; also, I-Ideal content greatly differs from adolescents current, real opportunities which, in their own way, may hinder a personality favourable development as well as do not encourage the development of forgiveness.

Streszczenie:
Increasing number and frequency of threatening factors that occur in the world raises the issue of the necessity to study psychological security as a complex phenomenon that combines a number of components, determines human behavior in uncertain and threatening situations. The article analyzes the main approaches to the study of personality`s psychological security as a separate psychological phenomenon: 1) the study of the behavior of the safe type of personality; 2) the analysis of security as a characteristic of the environment where an individual grows and interacts; 3) axiological approach broadcasting of the safe living values; 4) a comprehensive psychological approach. The authors propose to consider the personality`s psychological security as a complex personal formation that combines motivational, cognitive, emotional and behavioral components that ensure the resilience of an individual to environmental factors, the optimal level of their functioning and the integrated type of interaction with the world, other individuals, themselves. The purpose of the study is to develop a model of personality`s psychological security, to analyze its internal structure. The methodological basis of the study is a systematic approach. The following diagnostic methods were used in the study: the method "Diagnosis of the degree of basis needs satisfaction" (V. Skvorczov, modification by I. Akindinova), "Scale of basic beliefs" (R. Janoff-Bulman, adaptation by O. Kravczova), test-questionnaire "Sensitivity to threats" (V. Maralov, E. Maly`sheva, O. Nifontova, E. Perchenko, I. Tabunov), test-questionnaire "Identifying of the ways of responding to situations of danger" (V. Maralov, E. Maly`sheva, O. Smirnova, E. Perchenko, I. Tabunov). The study has been conducted on the sample of 43 university students in Kyiv (Ukraine). A proposed conceptual model of personality`s psychological security combines 4 components: 1) the need for security (motivational component); 2) beliefs about the security of the world and one's own ability to interact constructively with others (cognitive component); 3) experiencing one's own security (emotional component); 4) readiness to activate self-defense tactics in the threatening situation (behavioral component). The use of factor analysis (Principal components method, Varimax normalized rotation procedure) has allowed to identify 3 independent factors that explain 68.6% of the total variance. The following components have been identified: motivational-cognitive, emotional-behavioral (constructive), destructive behavioral component that confirms the importance of behavioral aspects of psychological security, which reflect the means of human interaction with the world and other people in situations of real or imagined threat. The results of the application of correlation analysis have revealed the independence of the three components of personality`s psychological security. A general indicator that reflects the development level of psychological security as a complex phenomenon has been introduced. Students who demonstrate a high level of psychological security have the following characteristics: adequate satisfaction of the need for security, positive beliefs about the goodness of the world and the reliability of others, high sensitivity to threats, they often use adequate or uncertain means of responding to threats, try to avoid the anxious and ignoring behavioral strategies in threatening situations.

The article is devoted to the study of the formation of body image in adolescence, relations to other components. Body image is a concept, which includes perceptions of one’s own body, sensual painting of this perception and how, in his opinion, along with its surrounding; it is a kind of system of human representations about the physical side of the self, about my body. The main component of body image is knowledge of the individual about himself, of his physical component. Body image is an important component of self-consciousness. In personality develop- ment is the crisis period of early adolescence because in this phase is the destruction of old and formation of new image of the body that influences personality, his attitude. A negative attitude towards your body can lead to mental disorders, increased levels of anxiety and inappropriate behavior. Therefore, in this study, we considered this age stage of the individual. The article presents the structure of body image, its main components, based upon the results of the study. The author suggests that the development of body image in adolescence becomes successful in the implementation of components of body image that includes a foreign body, boundaries, body image and sex- role identity. We also think that positive body image is associated with such personality traits as self-confidence, sociability, responsibility, independence and depends on how people are satisfied with their appearance.

This paper attempts to compare self-organising maps (SOM) and principal components analysis (CPA) by applying them to the marketing construct ‘retail store personality’. Data were collected for the retail store personality construct via a validated scale from previous studies that had used the mall intercept technique. A total of 367 people responded, of whom 353 were found to be valid for data analysis. Data were analysed using CPA and SOM; both methods gave comparable clustering results, although the results for SOM were quite conclusive. In addition, we found that SOM complemented PCA by providing visual clustering results far superior to those of PCA. SOM can be used to further analyse PCA data using visual clustering features; both could be used in tandem. Although SOM have been used in a number of studies in marketing, this is the first paper to compare PCA and SOM on terms of application to the marketing construct ‘retail store personality’.

Introduction. The article reviews modern approaches to the role of personality of the teacher in ensuring students’ psychological safety as well as the resources used by the teachers in order to promote students’ psychological safety. The purpose of this article is to clarify the capacity for psychological safety of the teacher as one of the conditions for schoolchildren’s psychological safety by means of the subjective assessment of its components by students. Materials and Methods. The study relies on the ideas of Russian psychologists about psychological safety of an individual and learning environment, as well as ideas about the personality structure as a possible foundation for building the capacity of teacher's psychological safety. The authors used the following theoretical methods: analysis, generalization and reviewing scholarly literature on the safety of educational environment. The empirical methods include a survey, analysis and interpretation of research data. Results. The authors defined the concept of ‘the capacity for teacher's psychological safety’ and clarified its role in promoting the psychological safety of schoolchildren. The structural model of ‘the capacity for teacher's psychological safety’ has been proposed and described. It includes three components: teacher’s personality traits, professional and communicative characteristics. Empirical data allowed the authors to describe each component of the model. Conclusions. The article concludes that teacher’s capacity for psychological safety is a condition for ensuring psychological comfort and safety of schoolchildren. The subjective assessment of the components of the teacher’s capacity for psychological safety by schoolchildren enabled the authors to reveal their characteristics. According to the obtained empirical data, the personality component consists of such characteristics as openness and sincerity. Professional characteristics include attentiveness and orientation to students’ achievements. The communicative component comprises teacher’s fairness and objectivity.

Streszczenie:
The article analyzes the approaches of several modern researchers to the interpretation of such concepts as "socialization", "personality", "socialization of personality" based on generalized definitions of these concepts in the encyclopedic philosophical dictionary from the perspective of the contemporary approach. Agreeing with the researchers about the important role of society in personality socialization, the article is focused on the analysis of real and potential opportunities for the personality in its socialization, taking into account the living conditions, social environment and time limits of the socialization process. The two-sidedness of the socialization process is explained, where the personality, on the one hand, acquires the social experience of the society it belongs to, and on the other hand, actively reproduces and multiplies this experience in the process of its own activity and interaction with other people. The main directions of socialization are revealed: socio-philosophical, socio-psychological; socio-pedagogical. The advantages and disadvantages of the subject-subject approach to the personality socialization are discovered, where the advantages for socialization actors comprise just a certain period of their lives, and then they seek their place among others beyond the microsociety, and the disadvantage of this approach is that scientists do not provide ways to activate both sides of the socialization process in different social conditions, because the social environment can have both positive and negative effects on the personality. The article emphasizes the viability of the agent-deed approach, which provides for the expansion of positive social experience of the personality through its positive individual and group activities, based on in-depth study and consideration of individual characteristics, real and potential capabilities of the personality as an actor. It is emphasized in the article that in any case the personality is the bearer of the ability to socialize and is characterized by five main components of the individual's ability to socialize: 1) a certain tendency and willingness to socialize; 2) interest in social relations; 3) the bearer of their own social experience; 4) the availability of a certain social potential; 5) the ability to self-socialize. The basic indicators, which form the basis of the general technology of the agent-deed approach to personality socialization are presented and explained in the article: personality attitude to other people; the aptitude of the personality for self-control in communication and interaction with other people; the aptitude for constructive and reasonable actions. Each criterion includes: basic qualities; awareness of what to do, why and how; balanced consideration of personal capabilities and capabilities of other people in the process of cooperation.

The presented article describes the results of the study of the components of the internal picture of the defect and their relationship with personality traits in adults with deficient dysontogeny type (respondents with visual impairment, speech impairment, musculoskeletal system impairment, hearing impairment). At the theoretical level, an analysis of the possibilities of a defect to determine violations of personal development and personal changes is presented. We noted a greater number of connections in the group of people with visual impairments, and the least in the group of people with severe speech impairments. As a result of empirical analysis, correlations of personality traits and components of the internal picture of a defect in respondents of various nosological groups were revealed, and the influence of personality traits on the folding of structure of internal picture of the defect as a whole was determined. As a result of regression analysis, the influence of spontaneity and sensitivity on the physical and sensitive components in the group of persons with musculoskeletal disorders was revealed; anxiety on the physical and sensitive component of internal picture of the defect in the group of people with visual impairment. When considering the influence of personal characteristics on the components of the internal picture of the defect without reference to nosological groups, the main influence of spontaneity was revealed.

Two studies, both originating from a larger psycholexical study in Serbian language, are presented here. Two questionnaires, Lexi and PL have been constructed in the psycholexical study. The questionnaires differ by the formulation of their respective items: while the items of the Lexi contain adjectives, the items of the PL are in the form of statements. The first study presented in this paper examines the latent structure of the Lexi questionnaire, while the second one deals with the latent structure of the PL. In both studies, principal component analysis was applied, and the number of components to be retained in the analysis was determined according to the Scree criterion. Also, Promax rotation was applied in both studies. Seven components which were extracted in the first study have been interpreted as Negative Valence, Negative Emotionality, Aggressiveness, Conscientiousness, Positive Emotionality, Positive Valence and Openness to Experience. The content of these dimensions is obviously similar to the dimensions of Tellegen and Waller?s Big Seven model. In the second study, five components were extracted, and interpreted as Sociability, Anxiety, Aggressiveness, Activity and Impulsivity. The content of the dimensions extracted in the second study corresponds with the dimensions of Marvin Zuckerman?s Alternative Five - Factor Model.

Abstract Within the world of interpreting, persistent clichés exist about an interpreter’s required personality and cognitive traits. For instance, an interpreter is thought to be communicative, stress-resistant and to have excellent memory skills. Yet, while research has been conducted into interpreters’ personality type and into their cognitive skills, these two aspects have not yet been combined in one research design. In this contribution we will explore whether some of these traits increase the likelihood of a language major opting for a study programme in interpreting and for a language professional opting for an interpreting career. Through a principal component analysis, we identified five latent components (personality, inhibition, updating, shifting, and working memory span) in a battery of personality and cognitive variables. Binary logistic regression showed that personality and working memory span are strong predictors of language majors and language professionals’ choice for a study programme or career path in interpreting.

Background. Empathy is widely recognized as a multifaceted trait that includes cognitive and emotional components. The Questionnaire of Cognitive and Affective Empathy (QCEI) (Reniers et al., 2011) has been widely used in many countries. However, the question of its factor structure as applied to the Chinese samples was not resolved in two previous works Our approbation allowed us to clarify its psychometric characteristics, which is important for its further application in China and in cross-cultural studies. The problem of the relationship between the implicit theories (IT) of emotions and personality and empathy, which has not yet been investigated, is also relevant. Objective. 1) re-adaptation of the QCEI questionnaire on a Chinese sample, 2) testing hypotheses about the connections of implicit theories of personality and the ability to control emotions with the cognitive and affective components of empathy (on a Chinese sample). Design. 1,319 Chinese participants completed the QCEI questionnaire, of which 520 in person and 799 through online communication. Their data was randomly split into two samples. Exploratory factor analysis was carried out for the first sample, and confirmatory factor analysis was done for the second one. These 1319 people filled out the questionnaire of implicit theories of emotions (ITE). 520 participants filled out the questionnaire of implicit theories of personality (ITP) as well. To assess the convergent validity of our Chinese version of the QCAE questionnaire 799 participants also completed the M. Davis IRI empathy questionnaire. Results. A four-factor QCAE model was established for the Chinese sample (as opposed to the author’s five-factor model); IRI components are significantly positively correlated with QCAE components, which indicates the commonality of their nomological network. Based on the fact that the incrementality index for ITE is significantly and positively correlated with cognitive empathy, we accepted the hypothesis of the cognitive component as the leading one in the person’s assumption about the possibility of controlling emotions. The ITP incrementality index positively correlates only with the “Adjustment” subscale, which indicates a lower representation of the cognitive component in ITP in the Chinese sample. It follows from our results that the hypothesis on the connection of the affective component of empathy with the IT of emotions and personality can be rejected.

In total 803 students participated in the research. The testing was conducted in periods from 2001 to 2005 and from 2010 to 2015. Results: positive changes of different personality’s component of healthy life style were observed. Parameters of emotional stability and tolerance were found. Teaching in last years develops personality’s components to less extent. The highest changes were determined in 3rd year students, independent on the program of their training. We did not find differences in degree of trainings’ influence of specialized and typical classes. Conclusions: at trainings it is necessary to pay more attention to development personality’s components of healthy life style, especially emotional stability and tolerance in respect to other people.

Streszczenie:
Consistent with theories of depression, several personality (e.g., high neuroticism, low extraversion) and psychosocial (e.g., interpersonal problems, cognitive content) variables predict depressive symptoms substantively. In this extended replication, we clarified whether 13 theoretically relevant personality and psychosocial variables were unique versus overlapping predictors of symptoms among 351 adult outpatients with recurrent major depressive disorder who received acute-phase cognitive therapy (CT). Using factor analysis and regression methods, we partitioned the measures’ variance into general components common across the two types of measures (psychosocial and personality), within-type components shared only with other measures of the same type, and scale-specific components. From early to late in CT, and from late in CT through 8 months after response, the general components were the strongest (median r = .23)—and scale-specific components the weakest (median r = .01)—forward predictors of symptoms. We discuss implications for measurement and treatment of depression.

Streszczenie:
101 students, gifted and of average ability in Grades 5, 8, and 10, completed the Defining Issues Test and the Offer Self-image Questionnaire. Significant differences occurred between groups of gifted and average ability on the Defining Issues Test, between the average and gifted girls, and between the boys and girls on Offer's Social Relationships subscale. A regression analysis indicated that the Social Relationships subscale and being gifted were predictors of Rest's p index.
