Pełny tekst źródłaAny surface immersed in sea water is gradually covered by biofouling. The use of antifouling paint is the best way to avoid biofouling. Legislation becomes more and more draconian. A better comprehension of involved phenomena is then required to find new formulations in order to reduce toxicity of marine paints. A physicochemical and microbiological approache made it possible by characterising the evolution of surface properties of paints and their constitutive polymers and by studying their influence on marine bacteria adhesion. The analysis of surface properties showed that paints had quite similar properties and that their hydrophily increased after immersion. In situ, a selection of adherent bacteria was found to be based on production of biosurfactant. A great number of parameters have to be studied in order to improve antifouling paint formulations

Pełny tekst źródłaThe ban of TBT-based antifouling products has forced the coating companies to find a suitable substitute to limit the development of fouling on ship hulls. The other organic biocides used in antifouling paints are suspected to have negative effects on the marine environment. An alternative exists with the development of antifouling coatings in which active ingredients would be isolated from marine organisms. Recent studies have demonstrated the potential of active compounds extracted from marine algae in antifouling paints. We have shown in our study that the extracts from Sargassum muticum (Heterokonta, Fucales), Polysiphonia lanosa (Rhodobionta, Ceramiales) and Ceramium botryocarpum (Rhodobionta, Ceramiales) present an interesting antifouling activity, which can be compared to the activity of the organic biocides used in antifouling paints. In situ tests have been conducted during the summer 2004 and 2005 in the harbour of Lorient, and the first results of crude extracts incorporated in coatings are promising. An active fraction has been isolated after the purification of the ethanol/dichloromethane extract from S. Muticum. Mass Spectrometry, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Gas Chromatography technics have shown the presence of palmitic acid and dioctyl phthalate in the active fraction. The tests conducted on bacteria, microalgae and algae spores have demonstrated the antifouling efficiency of the palmitic acid

Pełny tekst źródłaNew formulations of marine organic coatings, with or without solvent, abiding by recent environmental standards, must be studied and compared to classical solvent-borne organic coatings in order to determine their performance and durability. If the main degradation factors of polymers are known (water, temperature, mechanical solicitations and light), the accelerated ageing tests used to assess the organic coatings lifetime do not take into account of these parameters together or their hierarchical effects. This is particularly true when a mechanical stress is applied onto a metallic structure in tidal zone. In this work, we studied the ageing of organic coatings as free films and as attached films onto a steel substrate in natural and synthetic seawater (3% NaCl solution) for different temperatures and different mechanical visco-elastic mechanical stresses. The coating degradation was analyzed by monitoring the glass transition temperature evolution and the mechanical properties modifications after a water uptake that was measured using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and gravimetry techniques. Our results show that the water uptake is a thermally activated diffusionnal phenomenon, sensitive to a stress state. This latter can lead to antagonist phenomena which favour or not diffusion. A thermodynamic interpretation was proposed in terms of polymer chains rearrangements affecting the number of possible water distribution paths and the energy barrier associated with this move. These two mechanisms are very dependent on the nature of the coating. Moreover, a desorption phenomenon of organic and mineral species, in competition with the water absorption, was identified. Besides, the temperature variation in natural environment, which implies internal stresses in organic coatings, seems to affect significantly the kinetics of water uptake and the degradation of coatings. Finally, synergies between the ageing factors were established: the association of stress leads to a higher degradation kinetic than the sum of individual effects

Unfortunately, they are toxic for the marine environment- The Fouling Release Coatings (FRC): these hydrophobic silicone-based coatings limit the adhesion strength of fouling organisms and are biocide-free. Nevertheless, they are not efficient during idle periods.The aim of this study is to develop FRC/SPC hybrid antifouling coatings. Thus, diblock polymers both hydrolysable and with a low surface energy have been synthesized and characterized, then used as binders for the formulation of antifouling coatings.Polymerization by the RAFT process has been used to synthesize well-architectured polymers with controlled molecular weights. Two different approaches have been considered:- Polymers have been synthesized from low surface energy and hydrolysable monomers ((heptamethyl-trisiloxy)dimethylsilyl methacrylate and bis(trimethylsilyloxy)methylsilyl methacrylate) and a co-monomer of methyl or butyl methacrylate. It has been demonstrated that the diblock copolymers exhibit a lower surface energy than the statistical copolymers.- Polymers have been synthesized from hydrolysable monomers (tert-butyldimethylsilyl methacrylate) and low surface energy monomers (poly(dimethylsiloxane) methacrylate).The erosion properties (SPC-type) and the hydrophobicity (FRC-type) have been studied for both the binders and the formulated coatings, before and during their immersion in artificial seawater. The antifouling efficiency of the formulated coatings has been evaluated during their in-situ immersion in the Mediterranean Sea

This association promoted the spreading of numerous new practices of spatial representation between the 14th century and the beginning of the 16th century at some local and regional scales rarely used before. Those practices attempted to reproduce the experience of sight. This kind of document is mostly often called « figures » or « portraits » by their authors. But archivists and scholars use another vocabulary according to formal criteria : sketches, plans, local maps, descriptions or views. Novel blends based on silylated (co)polymers have been synthesized by reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (RAFT process). A kinetic study of tert-butyldimethylsilyl methacrylate (TBDMSMA) polymerization has been realized with the use of simulated data. Then, different diblock copolymers poly(MMA-b-TBDMSMA)s with a molar proportion of silylated bloc varied from 20 to 80% have been prepared with differed or one-pot methods. The self-polishing property of the resulting coatings has been assessed by a dynamic erosion test. Finally, the antifouling property of these coatings has been examined by both biological tests and exposure to seawater on two different geographic sites (Toulon (France) and Miami (USA))

Pełny tekst źródłaConcem about the environmental effects of tin-based antifouling paints has led to the development of new coatings with bactericidal properties. This study consists in preparing new binders for antifouling paints. Our research is focused on binders having two characteristics: a bactericidal property brought by tertiary ammonium salts and an erodability related to the presence of hydrophilic groups on the selected acrylic resin. The challenge is that the synthesis process requires few steps in order to obtain the desired binder during the formulation. . So we select a one-step chemical modification of an acrylic resin by tertiary amines, which would enable us to bind or Iink the tertiary ammonium salt on the polymer chains by a non-covalent bond. . This reaction of complexation between the acrylic resin and tertiary amines is based on a proton-transfer reaction. Three dimethylalkylamines were used such as the dimehtyloctylamine, dimethyldodecylamine and the dimethylhexadecylamine. Initially, FTIR and 1H-NMR studies were performed on the complexed resin in order to determine the nature of the complex (hydrogen bonded or ionic species) and its stoichiometry. The extent of reaction was assessed using the two previous techniques. Secondly, the physicochemical characteristics of the binders and the corresponding coatings were studied. The glass transition temperatures were determined by means of differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic-mechanical analysis. The permeabilitiy and solubility of the corresponding vamishes in synthetic seawater were studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. In the last part, the properties of erosion and the antifouling efficiency of the coatings were studied. It was shown that in static mode, the erosion of films prepared from complexed binders, decreased as the Iength of the aliphatic chain of the amine used increased. The same evolution was established for the antifouling efficiency of coatings formulated from complexed resins. Tests of erosion in dynamic mode highlighted the self-polishing character of the paints containing the acrylic resin and the tertiary amines. During immersions in marine environment, some of the coatings have revealed a good efficiency against the settlement of bamacles. This result was confirmed by in-vitro biological tests. These later properties, such as the self-polishing behaviour and an efficiency against barnacles, have pointed out the use of our coatings in marine antifouling paints

Pełny tekst źródłaAThis thesis is aimed at enlightening the link between poetry and plastic arts through the privileged field of study constituted by Jean Tardieu's work. The first part sets the problem in general terms : can painting be read/written? Thanks to this work question, it intends to define what differanciates the poets' position and that of the essayists from various disciplines; to determine what specifically distinguishes poetical essays on art; to present a typology that enables to distribute the corpus previously divided into two main classes: "poetical discourse on painting" and "verbal transpositions of painting". These hypotheses have to undergo an in situ verification: Jean Tardieu'swork represents the chosen research field. The second part, with a historical perspective, deals with the genesis of the author's interest in painting, carries on mentionning the major books that paved the way for his quest towards art, and eventually evokes the painters who gave inspiration to his wrinting. The third part, more concise, falls into three chapters: the first one typologically sorts J. Tardieu's works according to the characteristics defined in the third part; the second one deals with "the poetical discourse on painting", which enables the poet to explore his own field thanks to an indirect metadiscourse; the third one shows how the "verbal transpositions" can provide the "poetical writing site" with formal means, renewed by the imitation of painting procedures. This moving of the verb towards the plastic images is wholly underlying in the thesis, to the point where the language, reaching the attractive object, discovers its limits

Pełny tekst źródłaOur study is devoted to a workshop of pottery in athens in the middle of the fifth century bc, about between 465 and 435. From a corpus composed of 1812 vases, we introduce the painters separately one by one, into a first part. Then, the second part is devoted to the workshop itself: forms of vases, collaborations, iconographies, compositions and secondary decor. The master of the workshop is the penthesilea painter, whose the peculiar original, creative and artistic personal, ity had a great influence among the other painters of the workshop. Fifteen of them are the core of it and product 85% of the items. Those artists specialize in the decoration of the drinking vases, mostly in the decoration of the cups meant to men's banquets, as well as the decoration of the pyxides, jewel boxes of exclusive feminine use. Some of them used to share the work : the one who painted the tondo inside the cup gave the vase to one's fellow so that he could add the external decoration. This phenomenon of collaboration thanks to its large and unusual extent is the genuine feature of this workshop. A great part of the items (83%) attributed to this workshop consist of dairy life sceneries. On the cups there are reunions of men and women and pederasts too, training sessions at the gymnasium and at the hippodrome, and symposia. On the contrary, on the pyxides, it is the close world of women's that is represented. The rest of the production is devoted to mythological episodes and scenes of thiase in which maenads and satyrs form a joyful procession. The activity of this workshop belongs to a period of time when the attic ceramics gains a grate fame and success. To satisfy a large demand those artists have to work much and quickly. The production of one of each is made of exceptional items of high quality as well as items made in mass production and in great number, the decor of which repeating preestablished sketches. This frantic + industrialisation ; could be the reason why the artists of the workshop never signed their works, so remaining anonymous forever

Pełny tekst źródłaThesis offers, as points out title, the cogitation on the synthetic talent of the artist and follows directly from researches on the works of this artist taking a unique place in the history of Russian painting. The reflexion is based on the idea of the double nature of the artistic donation of Vrubel which is new in the historian literature dedicated to Vrubel. We tried to enlarge the field of vision applied to the works of Vrubel, this last becoming by this opportunity a phenomenon of culture and not only history of art. It was a question of orientating the analysis of Vrubel's genius from the point of view of its source of inspiration which was the worldwide literature, from the Bible to the classical or symbolist poetry. Our research leads us to the affirmation of idea which is appropriate only from this point of view, that of the crossroad of literature and painting; they point out their interconnection with a work, it allows us just as much to bring a new vision as for the nature of the genius of Vrubel that to sit our main idea of a symbiosis of literature and painting within an inseparable entity which is the inventive mind of the painter. The cogitation of thesis gets organized then around a new hypothesis that Vrubel installed a poetic narration in painting. From this fact they succeed in answering the question put down at the very beginning by the analysis of its working method: Vrubel is a creator of a new presentation of the visible across which he shows the invisible. The author had hopes that this unassuming try could be useful in philological domain while striving towards the domain of the history of art. What could establish possibilities of future interdisciplinary researches

Pełny tekst źródła- The artist's biography stresses more particularly his origins and his family environment (unpublished genealogical tree), his artistic training, his diversified professional activities in keeping with a context which is specific to Lyon. The links between art and industry: I) enlighten more particularly the artistic trends of the fabric de- signer and the specialist in floral painting; 2) explain the way teaching methods are orientated (flower-class); 3) account for the importance given to everything concerning the profession. However, the parisian context (the twin influence of the neo-classical school and the supremacy of specialists from the northern school of still-life pain- ting) modifies his works as well. - His works in etching, drawing and painting must be analysed in a double point of view: I) their heterogeneity (different finalities, variety of treated themes and subjects, richness of techniques); 2) the fundamental choice concerning style and a permanent and sure technical hability. Discovery of Berjon as a miniature and portrait painter. - Analysis of the artist's posterity: post-mortem exhibitions, criticism, museum purchases. Berjon's place in the Lyon school of painting, a frequently misunderstood influence. Knowledge of his life and works; unpublished biographical documents, pictures, bibliography. - Classified catalogue of his drawings, engravings, paintings (635 works; 111 Berjon's works, 524 attributed works). The catalogue of the purchases of Berjon's works at the town council of Lyon (unpublished) and the complete analysis of the post-mortem inventory allow us to establish a list of his genuine works and to judge the authenticity of works attributed to him. Berjon appears as an inventive artist whose rigour is in keeping with the neo-classical ideal but who, thanks to a miraculously sharp imagination reaches the limits of the imaginary world

Following a short period of time at the French Academy in Rome, he conducted an official career in Paris, working for several important private patrons under the Consulat period. Directly involved in the Empire main artistic projects, he contributed to all of Vivant Denon's contracts, for the Tuileries, la Monnaie and the arc de triomphe du Carrousel for exemple. Under the Restauration period, he became the master at decorating ceilings, working in the Louvre and at the Bourse, while performing history paintings often acquired by the government. By identifying and studying exclusive archive documents, we have managed to track his forgotten career, and to set up the catalogue raisonné of his work

Pełny tekst źródłaNormandy is extremely rich in ship graffiti, but we haven't any regional and synthetical studies about these iconographic sources. The inventory of Normand graffiti allows to have a corpus of some 500 documents dated from 13th to 19th centuries. The documents present essentialy ships, but also elements of ship (anchor, flag, rigging, head) or elements of navigation (sea-mark), animals (fisch, sea-bird), and maritime inscriptions. Their major value ist that graffiti give representations of boats of merchant navy and fisching navy, on which we haven't any iconographic source before the 18th century, and contribute to the repacement of naval iconographic material. The geographic repartition of ship graffiti follows the maritime and fluvial zones. They are omnipresent on the soft calcareous and plaster of the churchs, castles and traditionnal houses. In spite of their value for ship archaeology, graffiti pose a problem and particulary for determination and dating. The use of sails as leading thread allows at the same time a classification of ships graffiti, their typing according iconographic comparaisons, and their datation. Normand graffiti present merchant and coast ships. Barges are rare

Pełny tekst źródłaCette recherche vise à analyser en première personne l’évolution de la pratique d’un artisteplasticien formateur en somato-psychopédagogie. Cette recherche se servira comme données du propre journal de bord de l’artiste. Pour nourrir l’analyse qualitative de ce journal, j’ai construit un parcours théorique en trois séquences : l’analyse d’ouvrages biographiques de peintres, une synthèse théorique des principes de l’esthétique pragmatique de Dewey et Shusterman, enfin l’exposition de certains des principes de la psychopédagogie perceptive, qui ont inspiré et renouvelé ma pratique artistique. L’analyse du journal est basée sur une analyse qualitative catégorielle classique. Comme résultats, cette recherche met en relief les impacts des différentes pratiques (appelées ici training) du Sensible sur sa personne ainsi que sur son action artistique et enfin parfois sur sa production artistique. Il en resulte un déploiement perceptif plus global et raffiné, mais aussi de façon plus surprenante, un ancrage identitaire remarquable. Esta investigação tem como objetivo analisar a evolução em primeira pessoa da prática de um artista plástico, formador em somato-psicopedagogia. Esta investigação servir-se-á assim do próprio diário de investigação do artista. Para incrementar a análise qualitativa deste trabalho, construí um percurso teórico composto de três sequências distintas : a análise de obras biográficas de pintores, uma síntese teórica dos princípios da estética pragmáticas de Dewey e Shusterman, e enfim, a exposição de alguns dos princípios da psicologia da perceção, que inspiraram e renovaram minha prática artística. A análise do diário de investigação é baseada numa análise qualitativa categórial clássica. Como resultados, a investigação destaca o impacto de diferentes práticas (aqui designadas de training) do Sensível na sua própria pessoa, bem como na sua ação artística e, finalmente, por vezes, na sua produção artística. Isso resulta numa implementação mais global e refinada, mas também e de forma surpreendente, na construção de uma base identitária notável.

Pełny tekst źródłaThrough the study of the artistic, intellectual and social aspects of painter Vincenzo Camuccini’s (1771-1844) career, this PhD research is meant to expand the knowledge of European art history between the French Revolution and the Bourbon Restoration.Regarded as one of the leading artists of his time since he was young, Camuccini held high office in the Pontifical administration for several years (Saint Luke Academy and Vatican Museums). From the study of his historical paintings he emerges as the leading representative in Europe of a late neoclassicism characterized by an axiomatic adherence to historical sources and a mediated approach to contemporary history through the lens of past styles. His religious paintings attest his participation in the development of the papacy’s cultural policy. Since his death in 1844 such firmly academic artist has been condemned by the critics. This monographic study is aimed at a reassessment of Camuccini’s career allowing for a new regard on the relationship between art, politics and religion both within the Vatican State and in Europe between the end of the 18th century and the first part of the 19th century

From the xvi till the xx century, this illigibility is expressed through the disputation between disegno and colorito and is challenging ekphrasis. A lot of art's historians who faced this work had theorized this illigibility under the discursive category of the opacity. In the the same way, the historian, erwin panofsky did not cease to apply his method of iconographical inquiry into a work of wich the pictorality and the singularity surpasse every hermeneutic effort. Titian's work demands a "come-back to the surface", calls in question again discursive categories and requires the formulation of specific concepts who engage the process of the work himself. These concepts are the adjustment, the indistinguishable, the revival, the rythm. The adjustment points out the multiplicities of the form, the color and the content from the revival of subjets who constitute the whole work. From the form to the color, from the color to the content, the adjustment becomes widespread : the form faints for the benefit of the indistinguishable. This generalization is also the rythm of the work through the modulations of the revival. The adjustment multiplies the points of view who are becoming work's virtuality. The description is no more work's hermeneutical, it is work's experience
