Pełny tekst źródłaSpeech is nowadays present in a number of in-car applications ranging from hands-free communications, radio programs to speech synthesis messages from the various car devices. However, despite the steady car manufacturing progress, significant noise still remains in the car interior that leads to a loss of intelligibility of speech signals. The PhD work aims at developping speech reinforcement tools in order to process the signals before they are played in a noisy in-car environment.A highly effective speech reinforcement approach is to use a frequency equalizer to optimize an intelligibility criterion : the Speech Intelligibility Index (SII). To facilitate optimization, current methods are based on approximations of the criterion. In addition, by concentrating the spectral energy of the signal in areas where the ear is more sensitive, these methods increase the perceived volume which can deteriorate the user experience. Thus, in addition to proposing an exact method of solving the SII maximization problem, our work proposes to introduce and study the influence of a new perceptual constraint in order to maintain the signals at their perceived level. The popularization of machine learning approaches pushes to learn speech reinforcement processings from examples naturally produced in noise (Lombard speech), or by over-articulation (clear speech). Current work fails to achieve intelligibility gains as significant as with natural modification, and we believe that the many temporal aspects neglect may be partially responsible. Our work therefore proposes to deepen these approaches by exploiting learning models and pre-processings adapted to long duration sequences. We also propose a new modeling of the speech rate modifications that directly fits in the machine learning model which had never been done before
François, Catherine. "Nivelle de La Chaussée, dramaturge, un précurseur méconnu". Paris 4, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009PA040112.
Pełny tekst źródłaFrench playwright Nivelle de La Chaussée is acknowledged as the father of sentimental comedy, or comédie larmoyante. For more than a century, Gustave Lanson’s partial and often unfair study has typified La Chaussée’s theatre into its current repute and warrants a thorough reassessment. After providing new enealogical biographical data, this thesis aims at restoring a more objective account of La haussée, the man and the dramatist. It explores the features of the genre larmoyant – of which he is the exclusive herald – through the various ramifications of his rich theatrical production: society parades, tragedies, fairy pastorals, tragicomedies, light comedies or farces, often adorned with music, songs and dances. Challenging the simplistic notion of larmoyant itself, the study follows the inflections of La Chaussée’s theatre, from mixed soft-hearted comedies to truly moving or serious plays announcing the drame bourgeois. It analyses their poetics and dramaturgy, before emphasising their moral and political significance. The conclusion relates how La Chaussée’s plays were received during the 18th century and describes their literary fate and posterity in France and across Europe in an attempt to restore La Chaussée’s duly-deserved pioneering role

Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis is an analysis and interpretation of Clarice Lispector\'s novel The Hour Of The Star. Based on Mikhail Bakhtin\'s theories, the work focuses attention on various forms and degrees of dialogic orientation in the discourse of the narrator Rodrigo S.M., who is a kind of fictional \"male mask\" created by the author in order to develop parodic stylization of a series of other discourses, specially of epic and dramatic forms, such as the melodrama, the \"serialized novel\" (\"feuilleton-roman\"), the social novel, the regional novel and the psychological novel. The dialogic and parodic tone of Lispector\'s novel implies the use of carnivalization as a tool of social criticism. It is also considered that the novelist has constructed the main characters, including the narrator, out of ancient and durable popular masks which, according to Bakhtin, had a great role in the constitution of the specific dialogism of novelistic discourse. These masks, which correspond to the figures or artistic images of the fool, the clown and the rogue, go back into the depths of folklore and have a vital connection with the public square and the public spectacle. In the context of the novel, these popular masks assist the author in the task of parodying the languages of others as well as different literary and non - literary discourses. Besides, the analysis focuses on some Lispector\'s short stories which were regarded important for the understanding of the image of the fool character, mainly those ones well known to be based on her real life. The theme of such stories is Lispector\'s daily contact with housemaids, an inspiration for the creation of Macabéa, the \"fool\" protagonist of The Hour Of The Star. The importance of the fool is emphasized in this study due to the fact that his stupidity and incomprehension of the conventions of society and its canonized discourses (religious, political, judicial, scholarly) turn to be a dialogic category whose function is to rip off ideological falsehood. In addition to the fool, there is the clown, a role played by Rodrigo S. M., the male narrator who, as a mask, has the right to speak in otherwise languages and maliciously distort and turn them upsidedown

Pełny tekst źródłaThe study lies in the field of foreign language education, but it also refers to verbal interaction analysis, foreign language classroom research, anthropology, and sociology. It rests onthe capacity of visual images to trigger verbal expression. Photography is here considered as ameans to induce oral interaction, thus enabling students to communicate in language courses. Wehave implemented a task in lessons of French taught as a foreign language in a pluricultural contextin Paris, learners’ levels ranging from A1 to B2. In this group project, students were invited tocomment on fine art and documentary photographs. We had no predetermined language objectivesand we did not seek to pass on information about the images, which were intentionally enigmatic. Our research question deals with the nature of the verbal interactions triggered by the photographs. In part 2, the analysis of the corpus highlights how learners interact. They implement strategies to communicate and to learn. The interactions are highly cooperative, which encourages students tolearn from their peers by using collective scaffolding. In part 3, we analyse the verbal reactions of the students when they comment on the photographs. These learners describe the images, they buildnarratives, they seek solutions, messages or interpretations, they evaluate the pictures esthetically, and they immerse themselves in the fiction of the photographs. They also find analogies with other images, which reveals the importance of intericonicity in visual perception and encourages learners to engage into intercultural exchanges

This thesis, contributing to Literary Studies, approaches Clarice Lispector to the Jewish tradition, more precisely to the one linked to the interpretation of sacred texts, resorting mainly to A hora da estrela (The Hour of the Star), the last book she published while still living. It does so by recuperating, in this literary work, the presence of mythical accounts from the Judeo-Christian Scriptures, showing that these accounts have been recaptured and updated with the help of parody. In order to do so, works of Nelson Vieira, Nádia Battella Gotlib and Berta Waldman (on the production of Brazilian-Jewish writers), Mircea Eliade (on myth) and Linda Hutcheon (on parody) have been used as main theoretical reference sources. The methodology used was the qualitative-interpretative one, based on descriptive and comparative analyses of literary and theoretical texts. It has been evidenced, within A hora da estrela, Lispector‘s approximation to multiple cultural traditions, mainly the Jewish one, which she used to hide when questioned about this subject.

In the novel Uma aprendizagem ou O livro dos prazeres by Clarice Lispector, originally published in 1969, the main characters, Loreley and Ulisses, seek their own psychological maturity, so that a deep and lasting affective-sexual relationship can be built between them. Thus, it is noticeable, in the process of psychological development sought by the protagonists of the novel, the establishment of a heteroeroticism between them, that is, of an eroticism between subjects that have different gender identities, within the binary logic of feminine-masculine that underlies the heterosexual matrix in our society. This heteroeroticism between Loreley and Ulisses is consolidated, throughout the narrative, through gender performativities, which are, as Judith Butler (2003, 2016) theorizes, discursive reiterations that aim to ensure the intelligibility of sexual differentiation socio-historically-culturally, amid a “regulatory ideal” that promotes the maintenance of certain power relations. However, there are not only maintenances of gender performativities of the heterosexual matrix throughout Lispector’s novel, but also some subversions/transgressions/inversions in relation to them, which can be identified, for example, in parodies – intertexts with critical distance (HUTCHEON, 1989) – with heteroerotic configurations present in the narrative. Thereby, this master’s thesis aims to analyze and reflect on how the heteroeroticism between Loreley and Ulisses is established, along textual and intertextual (parodistic) instances, either by leading to gender performativities of the heterosexual matrix, or by subverting them. In order to support the analysis proposed in this paper, I mainly resort to theoretical formulations by Linda Hutcheon (1989), Howard Bloch (1995), Elizabeth Grosz (2000), Judith Butler (2003, 2016), Zygmunt Bauman (2004), Simone de Beauvoir (2009), Kathryn Woodward (2012), Tomaz Tadeu da Silva (2012), Stuart Hall (2012), Georges Bataille (2014) and Michel Foucault (2012, 2013, 2015).

Pełny tekst źródłaThe research focuses on improvisation by young teachers. It conducts a description and an understanding of this specific activity based on a cognitive anthropology which is centered on the phenomenology of the agents' experience (Theureau, 2006, 2009). We hold the theory that improvisation, particularly impacted by the complex ‘novelty-surprise-uncertainty', is a key moment in the dynamics of the interaction between the agent and their environment – including social environment – and, as such, is a major step in both personal development and professional development

Pełny tekst źródłaAmong metadiscursive processes, rewording in oral communication is a highly reliable indicator of the speaker's command of any given language. Taking current theories of verbal interaction as a guide, this study is devoted to a fullscale description of the forms and functions of rewording in conversational exchanges. Supplied with an extensive corpus of spoken french contrasting two poles of language mastery (i. E. Native vs. Non-native participants), the analyst claims to be in a position to form a judgment over the speakers' skill in the field of language, discourse and communication, after the full range of rewording devices have been identified - namely : repeating, defining, explaining, summarizing, synonymizing, correcting and denominatingand the interactional strtegies in which they occur duly examined

Pełny tekst źródłaIt is customary among Arabists to describe the sociolinguistic situation of Arabic as diglossic. However, diglossia has its origins; it also has its concrete applications. To give a hint, diglossia entails an artificial distinction between MSA classrooms and colloquial ones, each has its proper teaching materials and its syllabus. My intent here is to analyse a large number of Arabic textbooks to find out how this corpus creates a linguistic variety which, in a sense, does not exist in the natives’ daily usage. The first part of my study explores the history of Arabic textbooks from the 16th to the 19th century in Europe. I focus on the circumstances in which these books were published and also on the conception that different authors have. I furthermore try to find out whether these books were affiliated to a Greco-Latin grammatical paradigm or an Arabic one. The second part of my study describes and analyses the structural-pragmatic-cultural content of twelve Egyptian colloquial textbooks published between 1965 and 2016 looking into their “common core”. Our argument is that, the diglossia still the hegemonic framework in the classrooms (What I shall call a “diglossic teaching”). Other theories such as continuum are marginalised nowadays in France. However, the history of textbooks (particularly the Savary case) proves that the diglossic paradigm is not a pedagogical fate

Kardimis, Théofanis. "La chambre criminelle de la Cour de cassation face à l’article 6 de la Convention européenne des droits de l’homme : étude juridictionnelle comparée (France-Grèce)". Thesis, Lyon, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017LYSE3004.
Pełny tekst źródłaThe first party of the study is dedicated to the invocation of the right to a fair trial intra and extra muros and, on this basis, it focuses on the direct applicability of Article 6 and the subsidiarity of the Convention and of the European Court of Human Rights. Because of the fact that the right to a fair trial is a ‘‘judge-made law’’, the study also focuses on the invocability of the judgments of the European Court and more precisely on the direct invocability of the European Court’s judgment finding that there has been a violation of the Convention and on the request for an interpretation in accordance with the European Court’s decisions. The possibility of reviewing the criminal judgment made in violation of the Convention has generated a new right of access to the Court of cassation which particularly concerns the violations of the right to a fair trial and is probably the most important step for the respect of the right to a fair trial after enabling the right of individual petition. As for the weak conventional basis of the authority of res interpretata (“autorité de la chose interprétée”), this fact explains why an indirect dialogue between the ECHR and the Court of cassation is possible but doesn’t affect the applicant’s right to request an interpretation in accordance with the Court’s decisions and the duty of the Court of cassation to explain why it has decided to depart from the (non-binding) precedent. The second party of the study is bigger than the first one and is dedicated to the guarantees of the proper administration of justice (Article 6§1), the presumption of innocence (Article 6§2), the rights which find their conventional basis on the Article 6§1 but their logical explanation to the presumption of innocence and the rights of defence (Article 6§3). More precisely, the second party of the study is analyzing the right to an independent and impartial tribunal established by law, the right to a hearing within a reasonable time, the principle of equality of arms, the right to adversarial proceedings, the right of the defence to the last word, the right to a public hearing and a public pronouncement of the judgement, the judge’s duty to state the reasons for his decision, the presumption of innocence, in both its procedural and personal dimensions, the accused’s right to lie, his right to remain silent, his right against self-incrimination, his right to be informed of the nature and the cause of the accusation and the potential re-characterisation of the facts, his right to have adequate time and facilities for the preparation of the defence, including in particular the access to the case-file and the free and confidential communication with his lawyer, his right to appear in person at the trial, his right to defend either in person or through legal assistance, his right to be represented by his counsel, his right to free legal aid if he hasn’t sufficient means to pay for legal assistance but the interests of justice so require, his right to examine or have examined witnesses against him and to obtain the attendance and examination of witnesses on his behalf under the same conditions as witnesses against him and his right to the free assistance of an interpreter and to the translation of the key documents. The analysis is based on the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights and focuses on the position taken by the French and the Greek Court of Cassation (Areopagus) on each one of the above mentioned rights
