Streszczenie:
The paper presents the results of a survey questionnaire conducted in order to determine the social preferences of young adults regarding their willingness to finance pocket parks in Warsaw (Poland). The preferences concerned the impact of the appearance and attractiveness of pocket parks for the inhabitants of the capital, the impact on the microclimate, the materials used to build water reservoirs, and the effect of the respondent’s income on their willingness to finance them. The data were analyzed statistically (Kruskal–Wallis test, Mann–Whitney U logistic regression). The results show that young respondents prefer parks with natural water reservoirs. Willingness to pay was the highest in the case of natural parks and parks containing the most anthropogenically modified water reservoirs. It has been shown that the willingness to finance increased with the need for more greenery of this type and greater awareness of their positive impact on the improvement of the microclimate in the city. The higher the attractiveness of pocket parks for leisure and the higher the level of respondents’ incomes, the greater the willingness to finance them. The level of financing also depended on the materials used to build water reservoirs in parks—the more elements made of hydrotechnical concrete, the higher the level of financing. This type of relationship was not found for natural materials, which is surprising given the already well-known threat of climate change and the decrease of biodiversity.

Clean energy is currently a top priority on the global agenda, and green bonds have emerged as a key response from financial markets. However, while these bonds aim to reduce carbon emissions, they may create perverse incentives. Brazil has made significant investments in eolic parks in recent years, with players issuing green bonds to finance these activities. One region that has seen high levels of investment is the interior of Bahia state, which has historically had low levels of economic and social development. Unfortunately, the production of wind energy in this region has been marked by several social conflicts. Despite this, these conflicts have largely gone unnoticed, as the appeal of clean energy has overshadowed them. Social issues such as land disputes are critical but often overlooked in green finance mechanisms. In some cases, these financial incentives may incentivize land grabbing from vulnerable populations in the name of clean energy production.

Purpose There is a lack of understanding in the literature on the relation between parks and house price in relation to crime in Scandinavian context. This paper aims to investigate the effect of the amenity value of accessibility to parks on apartment prices with reference to crime rates in parks in Stockholm. Design/methodology/approach This paper analyses the effects of park proximity and crime in parks on apartment prices by using geographic information systems and hedonic modelling. Findings Findings show that the proximity of parks as an environmental amenity has an effect on apartment prices. The results also demonstrate that the impact of parks on apartment prices is different in the different segments of the apartment market in Stockholm. Moreover, various types of parks may differ in their impact, for instance, grass parks and park blocks are more desirable in Stockholm than landscape parks and neighbourhood parks. The effects of crimes in parks influence apartment prices negatively. Originality/value This paper provides a new methodology by using the shortest distance to a park as a main variable. The shortest distance to a park variable is considered a better choice than using park as an aggregate measure. To the best of the author’s knowledge, this is the first study that investigates the effect of specific park types, for instance, grass parks, neighbourhood parks, landscape parks and park blocks, in Stockholm housing market.

The requirements of modern society for urban parks represent them as multifunctional territories. Global trends suggest that parks have a social essence and are focused on creating a healthy and aesthetic environment. But in Ukraine, parks are considered only as landscape and architectural complexes. Therefore, they are financed under urban planning programmes and at the expense of budget funds. Attracting funds from organisations in the field of landscaping requires greater integration of parks into the socio-economic system. At the same time, it is necessary to develop mechanisms for economic incentives for organisations to participate in the improvement of park areas. The purpose of this study is an economic analysis of modern financing of the green economy in Ukraine and the development of proposals for additional sources of financial support for parks. In this paper, using the analytical method, the accounting of the financial state of the green economy in the regions of Ukraine is carried out. Typical problems of modern financing, the main shortcomings of budget financing, and problems of commercial organisations in the field of urban greening are highlighted. Using the economic and mathematical modeling (index method), the analysis of changes in indicators of providing green spaces and, accordingly, indicators of their financial condition is carried out. The practical significance of the study lies in the development of recommendations on additional ways to finance park management based on the introduction of the practice of public-private partnerships, trust agreements, and easement. Requirements have been formed for legal entities that have the right to conclude such transactions. An economic mechanism for stimulating the establishment of publicprivate partnerships and concluding agreements in the field of landscaping is proposed

Industrial Parks - History, Present and its Influence to the Employment The term industrial park is currently a very frequently used. One of the conditions of their development is a positive trend of capital movement and correct allocation of capital in new conditions of Slovak and world economy. In current post-industrial stage of development, industrial parks grow in quality in comparison of parks built in the past when all the activities of product building were allocated were concentrated into one single place. The new generation of industrial parks is characteristic by producing just one product or completion of final goods from components. The present day development in Slovakia confirms that it is necessary to support creation of industrial parks because it has a positive influence to activities supporting research and development and increasing of employment.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of the design of management control systems (MCSs) on interorganizational cooperation and the moderating role of companies’ identification with their technology park. The conditions that promote the emergence of interorganizational cooperation are indicated in the literature as an important research gap, as well as the little evidence about how MCS design influences cooperation, especially in relationships based on innovation. MCSs in interorganizational partnerships have been shown to be relevant for the coordination and maintenance of the relationship, and this study reveals that MCSs promotes cooperative behaviors among the companies associated with the technology parks. The interorganizational identification of the companies with their park was moderately present, thus prompting the inclusion of social and relational aspects in interorganizational studies, which remain scarcely explored in the literature. The MCSs of the parks are focused on stimulating the companies’ cooperation, which is one purpose of this partnership. By not confirming the moderating effect of identification, it was verified that this construct drives cooperation in a way that is dissociated from the MCSs. A survey was conducted in organizations associated with Porto Digital and with the São José dos Campos Technology Park, and it had the participation of 187 managers. To analyze the data the partial least squares structural equation modeling technique was applied and the differences between the two parks were further analyzed. The MCSs design and interorganizational identification act as antecedents of the companies’ cooperation with their technology park. On the other hand, the direct and positive effect of the MCS design on cooperation is not moderated by how much these companies identify with the interorganizational relationship established. The paper contributes by identifying ways of fostering cooperation, one of the purposes of interorganizational agreements, as well as by providing evidence in a context that is scarcely addressed in the literature.

Ecotourism is widely considered a strong mechanism for the sustainable funding of protected areas (PAs). Implemented during the 1990s in Madagascar, nature-based tourism experienced positive growth over the last 30 years with increasing numbers of visits to the parks and reserves. Revenue earned from entrance fees to the network of PAs managed by Madagascar National Parks has never been sufficient to finance their management. Political crises and the COVID-19 pandemic in particular, have highlighted for park managers, the risk of relying on such earnings when they covered just 1% of the required funding in 2021. Alternative mechanisms of funding are analysed for all of Madagascar’s PAs with a view to facilitating sustainable conservation of the localities and protection of the island’s biodiversity.

Case overview/synopsis Kartikey Rajput, the promoter of a food park Urban Chowk, was waiting for the Covid regulations in the country to be relaxed. The entrepreneur in him found a business opportunity to provide hygienic food with a beautiful ambience and floated a food park (Urban Chowk) with the support of his wife Nikita Agrawal in 2017 and the second edition amidst Covid in 2020. The business model was well-appreciated by food vendors as well as customers. Rajput could see future growth potential in urban India. But his aggressive business plan to open five food parks in different cities in the next three years was disrupted due to the Covid pandemic. The expansion required huge investments, and post-pandemic challenges were plenty. The decision to go beyond Ahmedabad required the selection of cities besides the major challenge of the financing choice. The new cities might have huge footfall potential but finding the right location at the right price was a different challenge. Rajput was also concerned with the sources of getting the required finances. The entrepreneur was contemplating and evaluating the alternative sources of finance available to a start-up. Complexity academic level This case is appropriate for a graduate and post-graduate level programme in the courses like entrepreneurial finance, entrepreneurship and strategy. This case can also be used in an executive programme on management and Management Development Programmes (MDPs) on entrepreneurship or entrepreneurial finance. An increase in competitiveness of an enterprise often results from implementing a new technological solution. If a company wants to remain competitive, it needs to launch new or improved products or services on a continuous basis and to adopt new technologies or procedures which provide more efficient production methods or working practices. The places for developing new technologies in the whole world are science parks. In highly developed countries, these institutions have managed to obtain a stable position in the science technology-economy chain. Analysis of statistics at the micro-level shows that the development trends of a large number of resident entrepreneurial structures of industrial parks are characterised by adverse dynamics. Accordingly, assessment of the performance of entrepreneurial structures and improvement of their management models in the general system of industrial parks become more relevant. This paper presents a methodological approach to the construction of a spatial-rating assessment of the performance of entrepreneurial structures in the system of industrial parks functioning. As a result, two groups of Russian regions were identified, among which a potential resident, when making a decision on the placement of production facilities, can choose a region taking into account its investment attractiveness and industrial activity. Two discriminant groups of industrial parks were determined, the condition of which can be defined as economically inefficient and efficient, by evaluating parks with low and high values of the park rating level in terms of attractiveness for external investors and resident entrepreneurial structures. The proposed methodological approach can be applied to improve the quality of decisions on the formation of differentiated strategies for sustainable development of both individual entrepreneurial structures in the system of industrial parks and their clusters, and regions as a whole. It is recommended for both enterprises and industrial parks when making decisions on the formation of strategies and development scenarios, as well as for federal and regional authorities when designing documents for the territorial development on the strategic and tactical level.

Abstract Community conflicts in national parks can be resolved through conservation partnerships, which promote sustainability and can be a win-win solution. Despite the emphasis on protection, preservation, and sustainable use in today’s conservation paradigm, implementation is still ineffective, due to the lack of pentahelix collaboration. This study has the objective to create a web-based conservation partnership concept that brings together communities, industry, media, academic institutions, and government to ensure the sustainable management of national parks. Journal articles related to Indonesian forestry were reviewed using content analysis. Internet of Things (IoT) provides a platform for pentahelix components to collaborate. IoT facilitates public’s access to educational institutions and submission of conservation partnership cooperation agreements to area managers, both in terms of document preparation and technical aspects. By leveraging CSR, conservation partnerships can be brought closer to the business world or companies to finance the implementation of conservation programs, hence facilitate the engagement of media by conservation partnerships for promotions and conservation campaigns. Additionally, it gives conservation partnerships the chance to cooperate with other conservation partnerships or non-governmental organizations in the social and environmental sectors. The study demonstrates that creating an integrated online conservation partnership is a reliable method to enhance national parks management.

Despite much rhetoric concerning the implementation of sustainable development within local and regional economic development strategies, very few concrete examples exist of projects that combine economic, social and environmental aims. However, recently, a number of developments have occurred, based around ideas drawn from industrial ecology. These ecoindustrial parks seek to reduce environmental impacts, while at the same time improving business competitiveness and creating jobs. Eco-industrial parks rely upon creating networks of material and by-product flows between participating firms. However, it is frequently assumed that the trust and cooperation between firms that this involves will arise automatically. In this paper it is argued that a much more nuanced approach is needed, drawing upon work in economic geography and regional economics on trust, networking and untraded interdependencies.

The aim of the article is to indicate the key issues in water park management, taking into account internal and external conditions of their attractiveness as tourist destination products using the example of Śląskie (Silesian) Voivodeship. In order to achieve this, market analysis of water parks in Poland was undertaken, as well as analyses and syntheses from a questionnaire (especially with regard to theoretical aspects), reports and other studies on themed parks in the strict sense of water parks both worldwide and in Poland, with particular emphasis on Śląskie Voivodeship. The research described in the article indicates a wide spectrum of factors for water park attractiveness as tourist products of settlements and regions. The authors, after market analysis and customer opinions expressed on internet portals devoted to water parks (including ParkiWodne.pl and posted on Google.com), divide these factors into internal (depending on the administration of the facility) and external (on which the administration of the facility has no influence) which are essential for the attractiveness of water parks. Research and inference focus on identifying the attractiveness factors for water parks not only as places for active leisure for both residents and visitors, but as places that are particularly capital-intensive during construction and maintenance. The analyzed conditions for the functioning and development of water parks can be used by their managers and as a regional tourist product to prepare and carry out marketing research taking into account the specificity of their operation.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to present a structural evaluation methodology to link key performance indicators (KPIs) into the strategy map of the balance scorecard (BSC) for Chinese science parks (CSPs). We establish the visualized strategy map with the logical links to improve the science parks’ (SPs’) performance. Design/methodology/approach – Corresponding to the four BSC perspectives (finance, customer, internal process and employee learning and growth), KPIs for CSPs are synthesized and screened in the relevant literature. The application for Zhongguancun Science Park (ZSP) is provided as an example. Findings – The research results show that the presented approach is an objective and feasible way to construct a more justifiable strategy map. The proposed framework can be applied to non-profit organizations, such as SPs. Originality/value – This work provides a systematic method to establish strategy maps for SPs (non-profit organizations), based on the consideration of the intricate causal relationships among KPIs, and the analysis of the important strategic improvement paths and proposes the model of assessment of emphasizing the processes rather than outcomes.

The amusement park industry embodies one of the indispensable parts of the hospitality and tourism industry progressing in accordance with the shifting preferences and trends in travel and tourism demand. The main purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between destination image and tourists’ loyalty towards the amusement parks of Bangladesh. This is a descriptive study in which the author used judgmental sampling technique to gather quantitative data from 300 visitors of four amusement parks in Bangladesh namely Fanstasy Kingdom, Nandan Park, Vinnya Jagat, and Dreamland amusement park. The researcher used structural equation modeling to analyze the data. The findings suggest that destination image positively and significantly influences tourists’ satisfaction. Furthermore, tourists’ satisfaction, subsequently, results in visitors’ loyalty towards amusement parks. However, the relationship between amusement park image and tourists’ loyalty is mediated by tourists’ satisfaction. Furthermore, it was found that past visit experience at the amusement parks does not moderate the relationship between destination image and tourists’ satisfaction. The researcher believes that the findings and recommendations presented in this study will significantly encourage the amusement park marketers of Bangladesh to enhance their destination image to improve the satisfaction and loyalty levels of the visitors.

The spread of social and financial advancement in business environment of developing countries has instigated various expansion approaches, ranging from industry agglomeration to industry clusters, which refers to groups of interrelated firms located in a defined geographical area. Firms or companies that participate in cluster developments benefit from each other in terms of sharing the same territory, infrastructure and services, which has prompted encouraging responses from many industries, including tourism. The Malaysian government licenses intellectual property as well and promotes it to further advance the tourism industry in the country, particularly in the theme park sector. There are 16 theme parks and water parks in the country and 10 more are reported being launched in upcoming years. However, there have also been several closures among theme parks in recent years. Many previous studies have looked into the development of theme parks, focusing on many aspects, including cluster policy and concept, competitiveness, sustainability, safety and security, yet research that looks into cluster development specifically in Malaysia is still scant. The main purpose of this study is to examine whether visitors’ experiences of cluster developments at theme parks in Malaysia have a significant relationship to their intentions to revisit the park. A survey of 312 Malaysian theme park visitors was carried out using a questionnaire, and it concluded that visitors’ experiences of all cluster development dimensions had a significant relationship to their intentions to revisit the park. This finding contributes to an understanding of the importance of visitors’ experiences in theme park tourism and what this means to the tourism industry in the future.

Background: This article aims to review the role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) fistulography in evaluation of perianal fistula along with its concordance with clinical examination and impact on surgical intervention. Methods: A retrospective study of 61 patients who underwent surgery for anal fistula in RMLIMS collected from database from January 1, 2017 to September, 2021Results: The study showed a significant MRI contribution to clinical evaluation in 65.6%. MRI provided significant information for complex fistulas than for simple fistulas (45% vs. 14.6%, p=0.01). Proportion of patients with significant MRI contribution increased with increasing Parks grade (grade 1, 8.3%; grade 2, 52.2%, p=0.001). The concordance between St. James Hospital grade and Parks classification was 0.768 (Kappa coefficient, p<0.00).Conclusions: Therefore, we propose inclusion of MRI in the preoperative surgical assessment of anal fistulas when recurrent, complex, high grade, or when the external opening is located more than 2 cm from the anal canal.

Ukraine has 10% of proven coal reserves in Europe and 3% of the world. Delays in the reform of the coal industry are reducing the profitability of coal mining companies. Despite this, experts warn against ill-considered closure of coal mines. Generalization and analysis of the material on the current state and closure of Donbass mines, preliminary own research and field work in Donetsk-Makeyevka and Krasnoarmeysk coal districts were carried out. The proposed recommendations for the transformation of individual coal mining companies should start now, using grants from European countries. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account scientifically sound climatic, geological, environmental and economic factors to determine the directions of transformation of each individual mine, taking into account their features. It is advisable not to close mines with reserves, but to finance them to become profitable. Coal mining companies located within the city should be converted into parks, science and technology or technology parks, wind and solar EC. It is advisable to start the transformation process before the closure of the coal mining company, which will save jobs and create new ones.

The objective of the study was to assess public goods coming from agriculture. Decisions about subjects of the assessment was the first step which was followed by the choice of suitable methods in view of data availability. The choice came out mainly from the most significant agricultural subsidies in the framework of public finance extent and were introduced as multifunctional agriculture maintenance (landscape maintenance, grassing, vulnerable farming in protected landscape areas and national parks etc.). Landscape maintenance was considered as the most relevant and it was quantified by direct valuation method (contingent valuation method). The other public goods were assessed by indirect valuation methods (opportunity costs, replacement costs, prevention costs).

The main purpose of this paper is to contribute to analyze recent data about the behavior of national park administrations on Facebook. As public organizations, they endeavor to proactively communicate information to citizens, promoting transparency and accountability. It is important to study the case of national parks because of their relevant role in preserving natural and cultural heritage and promoting a very rich scenario of policy-making and responsible local and global citizenship. Some insights have arisen for political management of these institutions. According to the analysis of the results, it is shown that there exists a significant presence of these entities in Facebook, even if this type of communication is perhaps in its infancy. The results suggest that a potential factor (country in which each park is located and the corresponding administration style) exists, in order to explain significant differences between parks.

Streszczenie:
AbstractIn the debt-ridden, high-population-growth, resource-mining states of the Congo Basin, conservation of biodiversity is seldom the primary concern of national policy makers or of local resource users. Moreover, the recurring costs of managing protected areas and the opportunity costs of forgoing logging and farming to maintain protected areas are a substantial net drain on national and local economies. Consequently, it is becoming increasingly important that protected areas generate, from user fees or donor contributions, sufficient funds to offset the costs of maintaining them. Government and donor investment currently meet less than 30 per cent of the estimated recurring costs required to manage the protected-area network within central African countries effectively, and cover none of the growing opportunity costs. Nature tourism, the fastest growing sector of the $US3 trillion (3 million million) a year global tourism industry, may offer a source of revenue to help fill this gap in funds. Congo Basin national parks and reserves harbour many charismatic animals (okapi, lowland gorilla, mandrills, bongo, forest elephant) that are likely to attract tourists, and as a result many protected- area managers are sinking capital into the development of tourist infrastructure. This paper reviews the evidence for ecotourism's capacity to generate revenue for protected-area management and appraises the financial viability of nature tourism in the Congo Basin.

The article analyzes the use of digitalization in oil industry on today’s stage of development and studies best practices of such companies as ‘Lukoil’ and ‘Gaspromneft’. Findings of the research showed barriers for introducing digital technologies in oil industry, i. e. a shortage of highly-qualified workers, who could work with robotized production processes, the necessity to invest large finance resources and difficulties in realizing import-substitution technologies. At the same time two key trends aimed at these challenges minimization were put forward: the development of digital strategy of the company and setting-up own digital techno-parks. Principle advantages of industry digitalization were shown: possibility to attract investors, to increase volumes of mineral resource extraction, to grow the number of spheres of oil companies’ work and to cut costs on equipment maintenance.

Streszczenie:
Regional parks in Lithuania preserve the most valuable physical and cultural components of the landscape, NATURA 2000 habitats, etc. They are usually located in natural or semi-natural landscapes of rural areas. These territories, however, have a higher depopulation rate than urbanised districts. Still, conservation priority areas were expected to attract young families as permanent residents and make their population more stable. This study aims to investigate changes in the rural population in three regional parks of the Klaipėda county to determine the number of abandoned villages (with no residents) and vanishing ones (with a population < 5), as compared to territories with no conservation regime. The article examines migration as one of the determinants of depopulation. The analysis of national and local statistics, institutional documents, and structured interviews revealed that the conservation regime applied in regional parks did not necessarily encourage local people to stay or newcomers to arrive. Proximity to the sea and towns with developed social infrastructure remains a priority when looking for a residence in the countryside.

This study establishes strategies for the science and technology park (STP) operators to develop the support their hosted companies/startups (HCs) need to improve their performance at different stages of maturity. Unlike most of the research concentrated on the STP's viewpoints or used the after-the-fact results to create the policy guidelines for the operators, our paper uses the opposite approach by directly asking the HCs regarding what they need. From our survey results, we have identified two different strategies for improving HCs' performance. A comprehensive internal incubation network is necessary for any startup in a relatively mature development stage but with short settled years. On the other hand, a robust external incubation network is crucial for small-size startups in a low level of development stage but with long-settled years at STPs. We hope that the methodology underpinned in this study could open a new window for future research to better aid HCs in an STP.

The study aimed to develop some methods for the compositional characterization of biodegradable waste with relevance to the composting process at the laboratory level. For testing, four waste fractions were selected, such as waste-based on dehydrated sludge, waste from parks (leaves, branches), market waste (mixture of vegetable and fruit), and cardboard waste. For metals and phosphorus, several microwave digestion methods were applied. The ammonium nitrogen content (NH4-N) was determined using a number of extraction procedures (water, CaCl2, and KCl). Three certified reference materials were used for testing the validity of the results. Recovery percentages higher than 90% were obtained. The developed and validated methods are suitable for biodegradable waste characterization used in composting processes.

This research offers an in-depth exploration into the intersections of entertainment and finance, focusing on Disney's expansive business ecosystem and its influence on option pricing dynamics. The empirical findings pinpoint significant correlations: Disney Plus’s subscriber trends and Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) exhibit a notable relationship with option prices, suggesting a complex interplay between digital revenue streams and financial derivatives. Additionally, revenue surges and operational shifts in Disney's theme parks have discernible impacts on option pricing. Furthermore, case studies on major film releases, including Thor: Love and Thunder and Avatar: The Way of Water, illuminate the profound influence of pop culture events on financial market fluctuations. The rapid responsiveness of option prices to film-related factors, such as reviews and box office performance, emphasizes the intertwined nature of entertainment products and investor sentiment. This research unravels the multifaceted connections between entertainment sectors and global financial markets, providing a robust foundation for future investigations into the evolving entertainment industry and its economic reverberations.
