The purposes of this research were to analyse: (i) Modelling the inflation rate in Indonesia with parametric regression. (ii) Modelling the inflation rate in Indonesia using non-parametric regression spline multivariable (iii) Determining the best model the inflation rate in Indonesia (iv) Explaining the relationship inflation model parametric and non-parametric regression spline multivariable. Based on the analysis using the two methods mentioned the coefficient of determination (R2) in parametric regression of 65.1% while non-parametric amounted to 99.39%. To begin with, the factor of money supply or money stock, crude oil prices and the rupiah exchange rate against the dollar is significant on the rate of inflation. The stability of inflation is essential to support sustainable economic development and improve people's welfare. In conclusion, unstable inflation will complicate business planning business activities, both in production and investment activities as well as in the pricing of goods and services produced.DOI: 10.15408/etk.v15i2.3260

Streszczenie:
Parametric modelling has been regarded as a prospective skill both in architectural education and practice. It offers capabilities for designers to instantly generate numerous design options and create complex geometries, which can enhance the design creativity. Realizing its potential and capabilities, this study investigates how parametric modelling can be practiced in early architectural education for improving students’ creativity and design skill. The findings of this study are based on the observation of the parametric modelling workshop participated by 150 first-year architecture students in Indonesia. It is concluded that parametric modelling can be feasibly practiced by first-year students as a medium to enhance design creativity. Additionally, parametric modelling can improve students’ design intuition in some respects, that can smooth the design skill development in architectural learning. The lessons for the effective parametric design learning were also discussed in this study, including metaphorical thinking in parametric exploration, active communication between student and lecturer, and emphasis on the inspirational tool.

Streszczenie:
With the continuous increase of the running speed, the head shape of a high-speed train turns out to be the critical factor to boost the speed further. In order to reduce the time required to design the head of a high-speed train and to improve the modelling efficiency, various parametric modelling methods have been widely applied in the optimization design of the head of a high-speed train to obtain an optimal head shape so that the aerodynamic effect acting on the head of a high-speed train can be reduced and more energy can be saved. This paper reviews these parametric modelling methods and classifies them into four categories: two-dimensional, three-dimensional, CATIA-based, and mesh deformation-based parametric modelling methods. Each of the methods is introduced, and the advantages and disadvantages of these methods are identified. The simulation results are presented to demonstrate that the aerodynamic performance of the optimal models constructed by these parametric modelling methods has been improved when compared with the numerical calculation results of the original models or the prototype models of running trains. Since different parametric modelling methods used different original models and optimization methods, few publications could be found which compare the simulation results of the aerodynamic performance among different parametric modelling methods. In spite of this, these parametric modelling methods indicate that more local shape details will lead to more accurate simulation results, and fewer design variables will result in higher computational efficiency. Therefore, the ability of describing more local shape details with fewer design variables could serve as a main specification to assess the performance of various parametric modelling methods. The future research directions may concentrate on how to improve such ability.

A complete documentation and conservation of a historic timber roof requires the integration of geometry modelling, attributional and dynamic information management and results of structural analysis. Recently developed as-built Building Information Modelling (BIM) technique has the potential to provide a uniform platform, which provides possibility to integrate the traditional geometry modelling, parametric elements management and structural analysis together. <br><br> The main objective of the project presented in this paper is to develop a parametric modelling tool for a timber roof structure whose elements are leaning and crossing beam frame. Since Autodesk Revit, as the typical BIM software, provides the platform for parametric modelling and information management, an API plugin, able to automatically create the parametric beam elements and link them together with strict relationship, was developed. The plugin under development is introduced in the paper, which can obtain the parametric beam model via Autodesk Revit API from total station points and terrestrial laser scanning data. The results show the potential of automatizing the parametric modelling by interactive API development in BIM environment. It also integrates the separate data processing and different platforms into the uniform Revit software.

Streszczenie:
3-D computational modelling of the human spine provides a sophisticated and cost-effective medium for bioengineers, researchers, and ergonomics designers in order to study the biomechanical behaviour of the human spine under different loading conditions. Developing a generic parametric computational human spine model to be employed in biomechanical modelling introduces a considerable potential to reduce the complexity of implementing and amending the intricate spinal geometry. The main objective of this research is to develop a 3-D parametric human spine model generation framework based on a command file system, by which the parameters of each vertebra are read from the database system, and then modelled within commercial 3-D CAD software. A novel data acquisition and generation system was developed as a part of the framework for determining the unknown vertebral dimensions, depending on the correlations between the parameters estimated from existing anthropometrical studies in the literature. The data acquisition system embodies a predictive methodology that comprehends the relations between the features of the vertebrae by employing statistical and geometrical techniques. Relations amongst vertebral parameters such as golden ratio were investigated and successfully implemented into the algorithms. The validation of the framework was carried out by comparing the developed 3-D computational human spine models against various real life human spine data, where good agreements were achieved. The constructed versatile framework possesses the capability to be utilised as a basis for quickly and effectively developing biomechanical models of the human spine such as finite element models.

Streszczenie:
Much attention has been given to the economic aspects of the fisheries in Egypt, while building a statistical or mathematical model for fish production has received little attention. This study is devoted to a comprehensive assessment of Lake Manzala fisheries; past, present and future. Lake Manzala is one of the main fisheries resources in Egypt, and there is evidence that the fisheries have been over-exploited in recent years. The study objectives were to determine the factors that affect fish catches by individual vessels, to compare between parametric and non-parametric models of the fish catches, and to produce a mathematical model of stock behaviour which can be used to suggest policies to manage the Lake Manzala fishery. A new method of estimating the carrying capacity of the lake and intrinsic growth rate of Tilapia and its four species has been developed. Simulation had to be used to get error estimates of the biomass parameter estimates using the new method. Three catch strategies have been investigated and assessed, with discounted utility of future yields. Two ways of modelling individual vessel catches in relation to their effort characteristics, a parametric and non-parametric analysis, have been investigated. Using generalised additive model gave an improved fit to the survey data compared with the parametric analysis. It also gave a lower allowable fleet size which leads to more conservative management policy. A simulation approach was used to investigate the uncertainty in the predicted catches and stock levels, and to give insight into the risks associated with various levels of control. There was no evidence that a management strategy which aimed to fish at maximum sustainable yield would put the stock at risk.

Streszczenie:
Bayesian nonparametric modelling has recently attracted a lot of attention, mainly due to the advancement of various simulation techniques, and especially Monte Carlo Markov Chain (MCMC) methods. In this thesis I propose some Bayesian nonparametric models for grouped data, which make use of dependent random probability measures. These probability measures are constructed by normalising infinitely divisible probability measures and exhibit nice theoretical properties. Implementation of these models is also easy, using mainly MCMC methods. An additional step in these algorithms is also proposed, in order to improve mixing. The proposed models are applied on both simulated and real-life data and the posterior inference for the parameters of interest are investigated, as well as the effect of the corresponding simulation algorithms. A new, n-dimensional distribution on the unit simplex, that contains many known distributions as special cases, is also proposed. The univariate version of this distribution is used as the underlying distribution for modelling binomial probabilities. Using simulated and real data, it is shown that this proposed model is particularly successful in modelling overdispersed count data.

Streszczenie:
The visual system is confronted with the daunting task of extracting behaviourally relevant visual information from noisy and ambiguous patterns of luminance falling on the retina. It solves this problem through a hierarchical architecture, in which the visual stimulus is iteratively re-encoded into ever more abstract representations which can drive behaviour. This thesis explores the question of how the computations performed by neurons in the visual hierarchy create behaviourally relevant representations. This question requires probing the visual system at multiple scales: computation is the role of single neurons and ensembles of neurons; representation is the function of multiple neurons within an area; hierarchical processing is an emergent process which involves multiple areas; and behaviour is defined at the full scale of the system, the psychophysical observer. To study visual processing at multiple scales, I propose to develop and apply parametric modelling methods in the context of systems identification. Systems identification seeks to establish the deterministic relationship between the input and the output of a system. Systems identification has proven particularly useful in the study of visual processing, where the input to the system can be easily controlled via sensory stimulation.Parametric modeling, built on the theory of Generalized Linear Models (GLMs), furnishes a common framework to analyze signals with different statistical properties which occur in the analysis of neural systems: spike trains, multi-unit activity, local field potentials and psychophysical decisions. In Chapter 2, I develop the parametric modeling framework which is used throughout this thesis in the context of psychophysical classification images. Results show that parametric modeling can infer a psychophysical observer's decision process with fewer trials than previously proposed methods. This allows the exploration of more complex, and potentially more informative, models of decision processes while retaining statistical tractability. In Chapter 3, I extend and apply this framework to the analysis of visual representations at the level of neuronal ensembles in area V4. The results show that it is possible to infer, from multi-unit activity and local field potential (LFP) signals, the representation of visual space at a fine-grained scale over several millimeters of cortex. Analysis of the estimated visual representations reveals that LFPs reflect both local sources of input and global biases in visual representation. These results resolve a persistent puzzle in the literature regarding the spatial reach of the local field potential. In Chapter 4, I extend and apply the same framework to the analysis of single-neuron responses in area MST of the dorsal visual stream. Results reveal that MST responses can be explained by the integration of their afferent input from area MT, provided that this integration is nonlinear. Estimated models reveal long suspected, but previously unconfirmed receptive field organization in MST neurons that allow them to respond to complex optic flow patterns. This receptive field organization and nonlinear integration allows more accurate estimation of the velocity of approaching objects from the population of MST neurons, thus revealing their possible functional role in vergence control and object motion estimation.Put together, these results demonstrate that with powerful statistical methods, it is possible to infer the nature of visual representations at multiple scales. In the discussion, I show how these results may be expanded to gain a better understanding of hierarchical visual processing at large.

Joint modelling is the simultaneous modelling of longitudinal and survival data, while taking into account a possible association between them. A common approach in joint modelling studies is to assume that the repeated measurements follow a lin- ear mixed eects model and the survival data is modelled using a Cox proportional hazards model. The Cox model, however, requires a strong proportionality assump- tion, which seems to be violated quite often. We, thus, propose the use of parametric survival models. Additionally, joint modelling literature mainly deals with right- censoring only and does not consider left-truncation, which can cause bias. The joint model proposed here considers left-truncation and right-censoring.

Streszczenie:
In this work I illustrate an approach to the development of a library of problem solving components for knowledge modelling. This approach is based on an epistemological modelling framework, the Task/Method/Domain/Application (TMDA) model, and on a principled methodology, which provide an integrated view of both library construction and application development by reuse. The starting point of the proposed approach is given by a task ontology. This formalizes a conceptual viewpoint over a class of problems, thus providing a task-specific framework, which can be used to drive the construction of a task model through a process of model-based knowledge acquisition. The definitions in the task ontology provide the initial elements of a task-specific library of problem solving components. In order to move from problem specification to problem solving, a generic, i.e. taskindependent, model of problem solving as search is introduced, and instantiated in terms of the concepts in the relevant task ontology, say T. The result is a task-specific, but method-independent, problem solving model. This generic problem solving model provides the foundation from which alternative problem solving methods for a class of tasks can be defined. Specifically, the generic problem solving model provides i) a highly generic method ontology, say M; ii) a set of generic building blocks (generic tasks), which can be used to construct task-specific problem solving methods; and iii) an initial problem solving method, which can be characterized as the most generic problem solving method, which subscribes to M and is applicable to T. More specific problem solving methods can then be (re-)constructed from the generic problem solving model through a process of method/ontology specialization and method-to-task application. The resulting library of reusable components enjoys a clear theoretical basis and provides robust support for reuse. In the thesis I illustrate the approach in the area of parametric design.

Streszczenie:
Drip irrigation has the potential of high water use efficiency, but actual water measurement is difficult because of the limited wetted volume. Two long-term experiments in orchards in Israel and in California and several field crop studies supported by this project have demonstrated the feasibility of precise monitoring of soil water distribution for drip irrigation in spite of the limited soil wetting. Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) enables in situ measurement of soil water content of well defined small volumes. Several approaches were tried in monitoring the soil water balance in the field during drip irrigation. These also facilitated the estimation of water uptake: 1. The use of multilevel moisture probe TDR system. This approach proved to be of limited value because of the extremely small diameter of measurement. 2. The placement of 20 cm long TDR probes at predetermined distances from the drippers in citrus orchards. 3. Heavy instrumentation with neutron scattering access tubes and tensiometers of a single drip irrigated almond tree. 4. High resolution spatial and temporal measurements (0.1m x 0.1m grid) of water content by TDR in corn irrigated by surface and subsurface drip. The latter approach was accompanied by parametric modelling of water uptake intensity patterns by corn roots and superimposed with analytical solutions for water flow from point and line sources. All this lead to general and physically based suggestions for the placement of soil water sensors for scheduling drip irrigation.

FINITE ELEMENT SIMULATION FOR ULTRA-HIGH-PERFORMANCE CONCRETE-FILLED DOUBLE-SKIN TUBES EXPOSED TO FIRE. The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, sierpień 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.18057/icass2020.p.263.

Streszczenie:
Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) or ultra-high-strength concrete (UHSC) are alternatively used to reduce construction materials, thereby achieving more sustainable constructions. Moreover, engaging the advantages of concrete cores and outer steel tubes in concrete-filled steel tubes (CFST) or ductile concrete-filled double-skin tubes (CFDST) is of great interest for the better performance of such members under fire. Nevertheless, current design provisions do not provide design models for UHPC-filled double-skin tubes under fire, and existing finite-element (FE) methodologies available in the literature may not accurately simulate the behaviour of CFDST exposed to fire. Therefore, this paper develops a comprehensive FE protocol implementing the scripting technique to model CFDST members for heat transfer and coupled (simultaneously or sequentially) thermal-stress analyses. Various modelling parameters incorporated in the proposed FE routine include the cross-sectional geometry (circular, elliptical, hexagonal, octagonal, and rectangular), the size (width, diameter, and wall thickness), interactions, meshing, thermal- and mechanical-material properties, and boundary conditions. The detailed algorithm for heat transfer analysis is presented and elaborated via a flow chart. Validations, verifications, and robustness of the developed FE models are established based on extensive comparison studies with existing fire tests available in the literature. As a result, and to recognize the value of the current FE methodology, an extensive parametric study is conducted for different affecting parameters (e.g., nominal steel ratio, hollowness ratio, concrete cylindrical strength, yield strength of metal tubes, and width-to-thickness ratio). Extensive FE results are used for optimizing the fire design of such members. Consequently, a simplified and accurate analytical model that can provide the axial load capacity of CFDST columns under different fire ratings is presented
