Yra du reikšmingi principai, kuriais pagrįstas televizijos (TV) režisie­riaus darbas. Pirma, televizija labai priklausoma nuo technikos: kuo techni­ka įmantresnė, tuo televizijos režisierius turi daugiau galimybių savo darbą atlikti įdomiau ir šiuolaikiškiau. Kitaip tariant, TV režisieriaus specialybė tiesiogiai susieta su technikos plėtra; šios aplinkybės neįvardytume kaip es­minės teatre, nors šiuolaikiniame teatre ir taikomos įvairios judesio, vaizdo bei garso technologijos, vis dažniau panaudojama būtent televizijai sukurtų raiškos priemonių.O kitas principas – bendresnis: režisūra apskritai – televizijos, reginio ar teatro – remiasi tuo, kad režisierius yra vadovas, kuris valdo šį reiškinį nuo pradžios, lemdamas kūrinio ir jo dalyvių likimą. Dažniausiai ne scenaris­tas ir net ne prodiuseris, bet TV režisierius suformuoja galutinį rezultatą, tad žiūrovas žiūri režisieriaus akimis, pamatydamas tai, ką profesionalas „įdėjo“ į kadrą. Todėl, skirtingai nuo teatro veikalo (kai pjesę ar kitą idėją stengiamasi sutalpinti scenos erdvėse), televizijoje, siekiant „sudėti“ kūrinį į TV ekraną, atsiranda esminė problema: kaip įgyvendinti sugalvotus daly­kus ir kaip paversti idėjas tokiomis vizijomis, kurios taip „tilptų“ palyginti mažame ekrane, kad rezultatas žiūrovui būtų paveikus.Teatre, stebėdami spektaklį, mes galime pamatyti „pašalinių“ dalykų, juolab kad jie kurį kitą vakarą bus „kitaip“ pastebėti, nes scenoje veiksmas vyksta labai aktyviai – ypač, kai ten sukurta įvairių personažų. O, žiūrė­ dami į TV ekraną, mes matome tai, ką mato ir nori pabrėžti režisierius. Šis ypatumas skiria TV režisierių nuo kitų – teatro arba masinių, meninių renginių režisierių tuo, kad jis aktyviausiai veikia žiūrovą ir perduoda savo požiūrį griežtai „įrėmintu“ darbu.Šiame straipsnyje noriu aptarti šiuolaikinės TV režisūros problemas, pa­brėžti jos ypatumus ir skirtumus, o ne tik palyginti su kinu arba teatru, kur žmogus tiesiogiai bendrauja aptemdytoje erdvėje. Mat TV ekranas yra atvi­ras – tarsi aikštė, kurioje stebint pateikiamus dalykus (kūrinius) dar ir val­goma, kalbamasi, vaikščiojama (žiūrovas nueina ir grįžta). Kokį vaidmenį šiandien įgyja TV režisierius televizijoje? Ir kokį – praranda. Labiau noriu kalbėti apie TV režisierių, vadinamą „režisieriumi-statytoju“ (kurių yra daug mažiau, negu „režisierių – transliuotojų“). Straipsnyje, aptardamas pokyčius, atkreipsiu dėmesį, kaip pakito režisieriaus vaidmuo palyginti su tuo sovietiniu laikotarpiu, kai televizija Lietuvoje atsirado ir brendo.

Nori adalah produk pangan olahan rumput laut berupa lembaran tipis yang dikeringkan. Proses pengolahan nori terdiri dari perendaman rumput laut, penghalusan, pemasakan bubur, pencetakan, pengeringan dan disajikan sebagai penyedap makanan, lauk/pauk dan makanan ringan. Umumnya nori dibuat dari rumput laut Phorphyra, akan tetapi Phorphyra tidak banyak ditemukan di Indonesia, sehingga upaya untuk membuat nori dapat digunakan dari rumput laut lain yang tersedia melimpah di Indonesia seperti Ulva lactuca dan Gelidium. Nori berbahan baku Ulva lactuca dan Gelidium sp. tanpa penambahan penyedap rasa menghasilkan rasa nori yang hambar, sehingga ditambahkan perisa bubuk kepala udang untuk meningkatkan rasa nori. Proses pengeringan nori sangat mempengaruhi kualitas nori yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh suhu dan waktu pengeringan terhadap kualitas nori serta menentukan suhu dan waktu pengeringan optimum menggunakan metode RSM (Response Surface Methodology) dengan rancangan CCD (Central Composite Design). Suhu pengeringan yang digunakan yaitu 60 s.d. 80oC sedangkan waktu pengeringan yang digunakan yaitu 8 s.d. 12 jam. Analisis data yang dilakukan pada proses pengeringan nori ini terdiri dari pengujian asam glutamat, kerenyahan, kadar air, uji hedonik dan uji warna. Data hasil pengujian kemudian dimasukkan pada metode permukan respon. Pengolahan data menggunakan Software Design Expert 11. Hasil solusi suhu dan waktu optimal yang diperoleh dari program yaitu suhu pengeringan 64oC dan waktu pengeringan 12 jam yang menghasilkan asam glutamat 4,49%, kerenyahan 398,56gf, kadar air 11,13%, dengan nilai desirability 0,728. Nori dengan suhu pengeringan 64oC dan waktu pengeringan 12 jam memiliki karakteristik berwarna hijau gelap, tekstur renyah, rasa gurih dan tidak beraroma amis.

Nori is the seaweed snack which has high nutrition. Generally, nori is made from the Porphyra, but it is hard to find in Indonesia. This research tried to replace the raw material of nori with the K. alvarezii seaweed and cassava leaf which are easy to found in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to determine the best formulation of nori and identify its characteristics. This research used a Completely Randomize Design (RAL) with different formulations of the K. alvarezii seaweed and cassava leaf. The results showed that the best nori is nori with the formulation of K. alvarezii seaweed and cassava leaf is 60:40. The organoleptic test showed that nori has color of blackish green (3.83), slightly scented of cassava leaf (3.50), compact texture (4.10), and few have the sense of cassava leaf (3.13). Chemical analysis showed that water content 5.63%, ash content 3.28%, protein content 5.72%, fat content 1.01%, carbohydrate 84.36%, and crude fiber 6.03%. Nori merupakan snack rumput laut yang memiliki gizi tinggi. Umumnya terbuat dari rumput laut Porphyra, namun keberadaannya sulit ditemukan di Indonesia. Penelitian ini mencoba untuk mengganti bahan baku pembuatan nori dengan menggunakan rumput laut K. alvarezii dan daun singkong yang banyak ditemukan di Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan formulasi nori terbaik dan mengidentifikasi karakteristiknya. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan perbedaan formulasi rumput laut dan daun singkong. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nori terpilih adalah nori dengan formulasi rumput laut dan daun singkong 60:40. Nori yang dihasilkan berwarna hijau kehitaman (3,83), sedikit beraroma daun singkong (3,50), memiliki tekstur yang kompak (4,10), dan sedikit memiliki rasa daun singkong (3,13). Hasil analisis kimia menunjukkan nilai kadar air sebesar 5,63%, kadar abu 3,28%, kadar protein 5,72%, kadar lemak 1,01%, karbohidrat 84,36%, dan serat kasar 6,03%.

Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang memiliki keberagaman hayati laut Dunia, diantaranya ialah Rumput Laut (Nori) atau alga. Diantara Rumput Laut (Nori) yang banyak dibudidayakan di Indonesia adalah Gracilla sp & Kappaphycus cottonii (eucheuma cottonii). Aspek ekonomis, Rumput Laut (Nori) merupakan komoditas yang potensial untuk dikembangkan karena nilai gizi yang dikandungnya. Rumput Laut (Nori) dapat diolah menjadi olahan makanan ataupun cemilan seperti agar-agar, ada juga yang mengolah Rumput Laut (Nori) sebagai produk obat-obatan maupun kosmetik. Rumput Laut (Nori) juga digunakan dalam industri farmasi, tekstil dan lain sebagainya. Keuntungan yang bisa didapatkan dalam membudidayakan Rumput Laut (Nori) diantaranya berkurangnya jumlah pengangguran, meningkatnya pendapatan masyarakat, dan bertambahnya Pendapatan Asli Daerah (PAD). Aspek sosial, perkembangan usaha budidaya Rumput Laut (Nori) memberikan keuntungan bagi masyarakat disekitar lokasi budidaya. Dengan adanya usaha budidaya ini diharapkan mampu memenuhi kebutuhan pasar yang luas dan mampu menumbuhkan semangat kerja serta semangat berwirausaha masyarakat setempat. The gene was located on chromosome 1D and designated Pm10. Pm10 was considered to be involved in the resistance of wheat to the wheatgrass powdery mildew fungus. Rumput laut jenis Ulva lactuca dan Eucheuma cottonii merupakan rumput laut yang dapat dijumpai di perairan Indonesia, akan tetapi pemanfaatannya sebagai produk nori belum dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memproduksi nori dari rumput laut U. lactuca dan E. cottonii dan menguji karakteristik mutu fisik, kimia dan sensori. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa campuran rumput laut U. lactuta dan E. cottonii dapat menghasilkan produk nori yang berkualitas. Hasil uji organoleptik menunjukkan produk nori yang dipanggang lebih dapat diterima dibandingkan nori tidak dipanggang. Karakteristik kimia dan fisik produk berbeda nyata pada taraf 5%. Hasil analisis karakteristik kimia menunjukkan bahwa produk nori rumput laut U. lactuca dan E. cottonii mempunyai kandungan protein yang lebih rendah (18.84%), kandungan karbohidrat yang lebih tinggi (62.31%), kandungan serat pangan yang lebih tinggi (36.76%) dan kapasitas antioksidan yang lebih rendah (43.01%) dibandingkan nori komersial (karbohidrat 41.8%, protein 40%, serat 21.3%, kapasitas antioksidan 51%).

The purpose of this study is to create a performance guide for Young-Jo Lee's violin works, Honza Nori for solo violin and Doori Nori for violin and piano, and to introduce his work to a wider audience. This study contains a biography of the composer and a compositional analysis that shows how Lee includes the concepts and techniques of Korean traditional music in his violin pieces. In this analysis, I will identify the composer's characteristic style, inspired by Korean compositional techniques, traditional Korean instruments and their characteristics. Additionally, the incorporation of Asian philosophy, and Taoism in particular, into Lee's music will be examined and cited throughout, demonstrating how Lee employs these ideas to create compositional techniques that differ from other twentieth century Asian composers. Lee is one of the most significant Korean composers living today and is known for combining Eastern and Western musical styles. He utilizes the core of Korean traditional music and performance practice and applies this to his compositions in a distinctive style that amalgamates both Western and Eastern (particularly Korean) musical traditions. Lee creates a balance between his native heritage and his knowledge of Western traditions, and he extracts his distinctive compositional ideas from various genres of Korean music, such as court royal music, traditional folk music, harvest music, Pansori, Samul nori, and Korean zither music. Lee is also interested in Western compositional techniques such as twelve-tone technique and chromaticism, which he combines with his knowledge of Korean traditional music and its techniques to create various works in a unique and distinctive fashion.

Resumo: Utilizando a implementação do método da coordenada geradora discretizada nos orbitais atômicos, conjuntos de bases adaptados ao pseudopotencial de caroço SBKJC (conjuntos GBSMCS) foram desenvolvidos, validados e utilizados no estudo de possíveis efeitos de solvatação do tetraidrofurano sobre um mecanismo modelo de Suzuki-Miyaura. As metodologias de validação adotadas para os conjuntos GBSMCS foram os cálculos teóricos da afinidade por próton de sistemas atômicos e moleculares, iônicos e neutros, das entalpias de liquefação de alguns solventes orgânicos rotineiros e das entalpias de hidratação de 29 compostos orgânicos diversos. Nas etapas de validação, observou-se de uma maneira geral, uma boa relação entre custo e benefício na utilização dos conjuntos de bases GBSMCS, obteveram-se desvios médios por volta de 0 até 20 kJ.mol, nas propriedades estudadas. Com as metodologias propostas neste trabalho e com a utilização dos conjuntos GBSMCS, determinou-se o perfil potencial da reação modelo de Suzuki-Miyaura tanto em fase gasosa como em fase solvatada de tetraidrofurano. Não se observou efeitos significativos nas estruturas dos estados estacionários caracterizados e nem nas DrG para as etapas de adição-oxidativa, transmetalação, eliminação-redutiva e isomerização. Contudo, observou-se que há efeitos consideráveis de solvatação para as espécies individuais. As etapas de adição-oxidativa e de eliminação-redutiva apresentaram-se como sendo etapas exergônicas e a etapa de transmetalação como sendo uma etapa endergônica tanto em fase gasosa como em tetraidrofurano. Abordou-se um mecanismo associativo em todas as etapas principais reacionais, contudo inferiu-se que a etapa de transmetalação tenha possíveis rotas mecanísticas dissociativas iônicas que serão estudadas em trabalhos futuros
Abstract: Using the implementation of the discretized generator coordinate method in atomic orbitals, atomic basis sets adapted to the pseudopotential core SBKJC were developed ( GBSMCS ), validated and used to study possible effects of tetrahydrofuran¿s solvation over a model Suzuki-Miyaura¿s mechanism. The methodologies adopted for the validation of GBSMCS basis sets were the theoretical calculations of proton affinities of atomic and molecular, ionic and neutral, systems, the liquefaction enthalpies of some common organic solvents and the hydration enthalpies of 29 organic compounds. In the validation steps a good relationship was abserved between cost and benefit in the use of GBSMCS basis set, average deviations around 0 to 20 kJ.mol for the properties studied. Applying the methodologies proposed in this research and using the GBSMCS atomic basis sets, the potential profile of the Suzuki- Miyaura¿s model mechanism was determinated in the gas and tetrahydrofuran phases. No significant tetrahydronfuran¿s solvation effects were observed for molecular stationarys state structures, neither for DrG for oxidative- addition, transmetallation, reductive-elimination and isomerization reaction steps. However, some strong solvation effects were observed for individual species. The oxidative-addition and reductive-elimination reaction steps were characterized as exergonic steps, but transmetallation reaction step was presented as an endergonic step, both in the gas and tetrahydrofuran phases. This work approaches an associative mechanism for all main reaction steps; however, we inferred that the transmetallation reaction step could have some ionic pathways and should be studied in future works

Since the 1960s, several gifted Korean composers, including perhaps most notably Young Jo Lee (b. 1943), have been internationally acclaimed for their work. In Western countries, however, there has been a scarcity of academic studies examining the artistry of the music of these Korean composers. Nonetheless, as one of today's most recognized composers in Korea, Young Jo Lee has been invited to numerous international concerts, conferences, and festivals where his works have been played and discussed. A salient feature of his compositions is the fusion of Korean traditional music and the elements of Western compositions, such as in, for one distinctive example, his piano composition, Piano Honza Nori. This musical study describes and analyzes how Lee integrates Korean traditional elements with Western musical ideas in Piano Honza Nori. Results of this study will contribute to the limited literature on the analysis of contemporary piano composition that integrates Korean traditional elements.

L'objet de cette these est l'etude des relations entre fiction et histoire dans l'oeuvre de l'ecrivain espagnol luis romero. Romancier neo-realiste, il a redige dans les annees cinquante et au debut des annees soixante une oeuvre fictive ancree dans la realite quotidienne. Il cherchait a denoncer les inegalites sociales et les injustices de la societe franquiste. Abandonnant la fiction, il s'est ensuite oriente vers des compositions d'histoire romancee, s'interessant a la guerre civile et a ses premices. Ce travail analyse les rapports entre ces deux types de production. Il est articule autour de trois axes. Dans une premiere phase, j'ai replace luis romero et l'ensemble de sa production dans leur contexte. Dans une seconde phase, j'ai etudie la tetralogie barcelonaise, ensemble romanesque comprenant la noria. Las vieias voces. Los otros. La corriente et decrivant la vie dans la metropole catalane dans les annees 1950. Quelle representation ce cycle offre-t-il de la societe franquiste de l'apres-guerre ? (ruelles en sont les limites ? pourquoi l'ecrivain abandonne-t-il la fiction pour se tourner vers l'histoire ? je tache d'apporter une reponse a ces questions dans la seconde partie de ma these. Dans une troisieme phase, j'analyse tres dias de julio. Quelle vision de l'aube de la guerre civile ce livre presente-t-il ? quels liens se tissent entre oeuvre romanesque et oeuvre hisorique ? quel regard l'ensemble de cette production apporte-t-il sur une epoque et un regime ? ce sont les principales questions soulevees par ma reflexion et auxquelles je m'efforce de repondre.

Många grundskolor har idag profiler och inriktningar. Vissa har idrottslig profil och andra ekonomisk. Denna trend tycks vara stabil och förväntas fortsätta vara aktuell. Dessa trender och profiler syns ofta på skolornas hemsidor och logotyper men än så länge har det inte influerat byggnaderna i vilka man huserar. Därför handlar mitt projekt om en profilskola där inriktningen tydligt syns på byggnaderna. Jag har valt att låta skolan ha en historisk profil, dvs. att man har stort fokus på historieutbildning. Detta då jag själv uppskattade historieutbildningen under skoltiden och jag ser en underrepresentation av profilskolor med historisk inriktning. Tanken är att skolan skall utformas som en tidslinje där eleverna kronologiskt och tidsmässigt från år till år tillåts vandra genom historien. Detta samtidigt som de följs åt av skolbyggnadens olika tidsåldrar och miljöer. På så sätt skapar varje elev en personlig historisk vandring under tio år i sin egen skolbyggnad. Detta passar enligt min åsikt mycket bra då barn mellan sex och femton år troligtvis kan känna koppling till och intresse för dessa miljöer. Skolans vanliga utbildning fortgår enligt läroplan men historialektionerna förläggs utefter skolans olika tidsmiljöer. När en elev börjar förskoleklass på skolan kliver de in i en forntida by. En miljö kantrad av vikingahus och hyddor. Jag har svårt att tro att barnen inte uppskattar en sådan miljö. Likväl skala och material följer barnen. Byn består av trähus och sådana material som barnen lätt kan förstå och relatera till. Likväl skall det inte vara ett problem om man vill grilla eller lyssna på sagor runt en lägereld. På så sätt förläggs pedagogiken och skolans verksamheter i harmoni med lokalerna. En elev som börjar mellanstadiet får ankomma skolbyggnaden likt Gustav Wasa in i en borg för att erövra sin kunskap. Här inne följer lektioner i tornrum och salar kantade av vitkalkade murar. Här ligger fokus på ordning och lugn. Trygghet och fokus. Det lämnas rum för samtal och rum för skapande. I wasaborgen känns det tryggt. När elever från andra skolor frågar om hur det är att gå i skolan i Trollbäcken följer ofta stolta svar om att det är finfint. Självklart är det fint att få husera i en borg. Nästan som ett slott. När eleverna fortgår sin vandring och lämnar det medeltida och Wasaborgen följer dagar och år i ett palats. Ett kunskapens palats där byggnaden tydligt står för upplysning. Det sades en gång att den som ej låter skolhuset vara byns vackraste hus har svikit vår framtid. På så sätt visar man stolt upp de framtida studenternas väg mot upplysning. I detta palats av kunskap trängs salar, verkstäder, ateljéer och bibliotek in en miljö som hyllar kunskapen. Här möter eleverna varje dag en miljö som skall uppmana till kunskapens väg. Ett skolhus som skall ge plats för samtal och studier men likväl tonårsromanser och möjlighet att stoltsera med sitt nyinförskaffade mopedkort. Alla tiders skola i Trollbäcken är en skola att vara stolt över. En skola som kan fungera som typexempel och förebild i hela Sverige. Visionen är att elever som lärare kan gå till en skola som de är stolta över och tar väl hand om. Så pass väl att byggnaden får stå kvar i generationer och på så sätt erhålla sin egen plats i historien.
Many schools today profiles and specializes. Some have athletic profile and other economic. This trend seems to be stable in Sweden. These trends and profiles are often seen on the schools websites and logos but so far it has not influenced the buildings in which the school houses. Therefore my project is a school where the profile is clearly visible in the buildings. I’ve chosen to let the school have a historical profile, a strong focus on history education. The idea is that the school should be designed as a timeline where students chronologically wander through history. During the wander they are accompanied by the school buildings of different ages and environments. This will give each student a personal historical wander for ten years. This fits, in my opinion, very good when children between six and fifteen years are likely to feel the connection these environments. The school's regular education proceeding according to curriculum but history lessons are located along the school's various timeline environments. When a student begins preschool classes at the school they step into an ancient village. An environment capsized by Viking and huts. I find it hard to believe that children wouldn’t appreciate such an environment. Nevertheless, scale and materials follow the children. The village consists of wooden houses and such materials that kids can easily understand and relate to. Yet it should not be a problem if you want to grill or listen to stories around a campfire. In this way the pedagogy and school activities work in harmony with the premises. A student who starts middle school arrives the school building like Gustav Wasa into a castle to conquer his knowledge. Here, the classes are following in tower rooms and halls lined with white dyed walls. Here the focus is on peace and order, safety and focus. It leaves room for discussion and room for creativity.. When students from other schools asking how it's going to school in Trollbäcken often follows the proud reply that it is just fine. Obviously, it is nice to study in a castle. Almost like a palace. As students continue their journey, leaving the medieval castle, there days and years take place in a palace. The palace is a building that clearly stands for enlightenment. It was once said that the one who doesn’t let the schoolhouse to be the village's most beautiful houses have betrayed our future. This way you proudly show the future students' path to enlightenment. This palace of knowledge is filled with halls, workshops, studios and libraries in an environment that celebrates knowledge. Here the students meet an environment that will encourage the path of knowledge. A school building that will provide space for discussions and studies yet teenage romances and the opportunity to flaunt their newly acquired moped driver’s license. The school of all time in Trollbäcken is a school to be proud of. A school that can serve as a typical example and a role model throughout all of Sweden. The vision is that students and teachers can go to a school that they’re proud of and take good care of. Such good care of that the building will remain for generations and so obtain its own place in history.

Charging and discharging operations of on-board hydrogen adsorption storage systems involve exothermic and endothermic processes. Temperature elevations caused by the released heat of adsorption, compression work and thermal mass introduced from the inlet gas result with a reduction of the storage capacity. The main objective of this work was the investigation of the impact of temperature elevations on the decrease of adsorption storage capacity during high-pressure charging of a hydrogen cryo-adsorption storage tank. The experimental operating conditions were compatible with practical applications for hydrogen adsorption on-board storage systems. The analysis was conducted with two adsorbent classes: activated carbon (NORIT R0.8) and metal-organic-frameworks (Cu-BTC-1,3,5). Adsorption isotherms for hydrogen uptake for both adsorbents are measured by a gravimetric method and fitted in accordance to the Langmuir equation. The experimental study was carried out in a cylindrical tank with granular adsorbents in which the bed temperature was measured at various positions. A typical average temperature increase in the core of the storage column during hydrogen charging experiments with the CuBTC and NORIT R0.8 was 16.2 K and 20.4 K at 2 MPa respectively. Such temperature elevation results in a loss in the adsorption storage capacity of 14.75% for the system packed with the CuBTC adsorbent. Solutions for increased efficiency of the hydrogen cryo-adsorption storage tanks are proposed.

Porphyra species (commonly known as ‘nori’ or ‘purple laver’) are edible red seaweeds rich in proteins, vitamins and other highly valued biogenic compounds. For years Porphyra has been cultured using seeded nets extended in the open sea, and its biomass consumed primarily in the Far East. While demands for international markets have increased steadily at an average of 20% per year, supplies are on the verge and not expected to meet future demands. Alternatively, land-based cultivation of seaweed has become attractive in the mariculture industry since (1) important growth parameters can be controlled, (2) is environmentally friendly and (3) perfectly matches with integrated aquaculture leading to sustainable, high quality products. During the last few years a tank cultivation technology for Porphyra has been developed at the Israeli institution. This technology is based on indoor production of asexual spores and their subsequent growth to 1-2 mm seedlings. The seedlings are then transferred to outdoor tanks and ponds when seawater temperatures drop to 20 °C, or below, and days become shorter during winter time. However, the current technology efficiently serves only about 100 m2 of ponds during one growth season. In order to produce seedlings in sufficient amounts, it is critical to address both technical and biological aspects of seedling production, securing optimal up-scale to commercial-size cultivation farms. We hypothesize that massive production of spores is related to thalli origin, thalli age and sporulation triggers, and that seedling survival and their subsequent growth potential is determined by the seawater quality and overall indoor growth conditions imposed. A series of bio-reactors were constructed and tested in which spore release and spore growth were separately studied. The main assessment criteria for optimal viability of the seedlings will be by determining their electron transport rate using PAM fluorometry and by subsequent growth and biomass yields in outdoor ponds. Altogether the project showed (1), controlled sporulation is possible in big outdoor/growth chamber settings provided initial stock material (small frozen seedlings) is at hand, (2), contamination problems can be almost completely avoided if stock material is properly handled (clean as possible and partially dehydrated prior to freezing), (3), spore release can significantly be enhance using high nutrient levels during thawing for P. yezoensis and P. haitanensis, but not for P. rosengurttii, (4), PAM fluorometry is an efficient tool to estimate growth capacity in both seedlings and juvenile thalli. The BARD funding also served to explore other aspects of Porphyra biology and cultivation. For example, the taxonomical status of Porphyra strains used in this study was defined (see appendix), and the potential use of this seaweed in bioremediation was well substantiated. In addition, BARD funding supported a number of opportunities and activities in the Israeli lab, direct or indirectly related to the initial objectives of the project such as: additional molecular work in other seaweeds, description of at least 2 new species for the Israeli Mediterranean, and continuous support for the writing of a book on Global Change and applied aspects of seaweeds. The technology for Porphyra cultivation in land-based ponds is readily available. This study corroborated previous know-how of Porphyra growth in tanks and ponds, and yet offers important improvements regarding seedling production and their handling for successful cultivation. This study supported various other activities opening additional important issues in the biology/cultivation/use of Porphyra and other seaweeds.
