L'ouvrage se definit comme un essai de biographie intellectuelle et politique de pavel nikolaevic miljukov (1859-1943) jusqu'en 1905. La these centrale pose l'unite du projet miljukovien : elle montre l'etroite interdependance entre sa conception du processus historique et son projet politique visant a introduire un regime constitutionnel en russie. L'introduction dresse l'etat present des etudes miljukoviennes et du liberalisme russe. Apres un portrait de miljukov, nous montrons comment sa vision scientifique de l'histoire (1e partie) justifie son ambition pour la russie (iie partie) ; et comment, l'une et l'autre, a la faveur de la conjoncture politique, le poussent sur le terrain de l'action (iiie partie). La these esquisse la naissance d'une vocation (ch. 1), presente l'historien en formation et en action (ch. 2), puis analyse sa conception de l'histoire russe (ch. 3). La deuxieme partie montre comment l'exil (ch. 4) et les annees d'errance (ch. 5) contribuent a fixer les cadres de sa pensee politique ; et comment celle-ci se trouve confortee et justifiee par une recherche sur l'histoire de l'opinion (ch. 6) et de l'idee liberale (ch. 7) en russie. La derniere partie etudie le role de miljukov dans le mouvement pour la liberation a la veille de 1905. C'est en europe que miljukov puise ses references constitutionnelles et liberales. C'est dans l'histoire de la russie qu'il recherche les preuves de la necessite d'adapter un tel regime a son pays. La conclusion pose en derniere analyse le probleme de l'echec du liberalisme en russie
This work is an attempt to write the intellectual and political biography of pavel nikolaevic miljukov (1859-1943) up to 1905. The central theory states the unity of miljukov's thought : it shows the close interdependence between his views on the historical process and his political plan to introduce an institutional system of government in russia. The introduction describes the current state of miljukovian studies and russian liberalism. After a portrait of miljukov, the author shows how his scientific vision of history (1st part) justifies his ambition for russia (2nd part), and how both prompt him to action owing to the political situation (3rd part). The birth of a vocation is outlined (chap. 1), the historian is presented in the budding and in action (chap. 2), then his views on russian history are analyzed (chap. 3). The second part shows the part exile(chap. 4) and the years of wanderings (chap. 5) play in setting the structures of a political thought, and how the latter is reinforced and justified by research in the history of public opinion(chap. 6) and the concept of liberalism (chap. 7) in russia. The last part studies miljukov's role in the movement for liberation just before 1905. It is from europe that miljukov draws his liberal and constitutional references. It is in the history of russia that he looks for criteria of adaptability of this system of government to his country. The conclusion finally brings up the problem of the failure of liberalism in russia

Zinaïda Gippius commence à écrire dans la dernière décennie du 19eme siècle. Ses premiers poèmes et ses premiers récits paraissent dans le Messager du nord. Cette revue publie à la fois les épigones de l'école réaliste et les nouveaux poètes que bientôt on appellera décadents ou symbolistes. Z. Gippius, "la madone décadente", est déjà considérée comme une des représentantes du nouveau courant. Puis elle passe au monde de l'art fondé par S. D. Djagilev où, dénonçant maintenant les esthètes décadents, ses écrits (critiques, vers, nouvelles) manifestent ses nouvelles préoccupations religieuses. En 1901, avec son mari D. Merezkovskij, elle organise à Saint Pétersbourg les réunions philosophiques et religieuses auxquelles participent l'intelligentsia et le clergé. Puis le couple des Merezkovskij édite La voie nouvelle (1902 1903) qui témoigne des préoccupations esthétiques, religieuses et sociales d'une partie de l'intelligentsia. Lorsque nous l'abandonnons en 1904, Z. Gippius est devenue un des représentants les plus marquants du mouvement symboliste alors en plein essor
Zinaida Gippius started writing in the last decade of 19th century. Her first poems and her first narratives appears in the Northern herald. This review publishes both the epigone of realistic school and the new poems which will be soon named decadent or symbolist. Z. Gippius, "la madone décadente", is already looked upon as one of the representatives of the new run. Then, she joined the new road founded by S. D. Djagilev where, now denouncing decadent aesthetes, her writings (critiques, verses, tales) reflect her new religious preoccupations. In 1901, together with her husband, D. Merezkovskij, she organizes at St Petersburg philosophical and religious meetings attended by the intelligentsia and the clergy. Then, the Merezkovskij couple publishes the new road (1902 1903) which bears witness to the aesthetic, religious and social preoccupations of the part of the intelligentsia. When we leave her in 1904, Z. Gippius has become one of the leading representatives of the symbolism movement then in full soaring

La thèse se propose de retracer l'itinéraire scientifique de Jurij Tynjanov (1894-1943), le plus brillant des "formalistes russes" qui fut, à la fois, théoricien et historien de la littérature, critique et romancier, traducteur de Heine et spécialiste de cinéma. L'auteur cherche à reconstituer la formation de son système interprétatif et tente d'en dégager l'originalité, tant par rapport à l'Opojaz (1915-1930) que par rapport aux autres courants de la critique. The purpose of this study is to trace the scientific evolution of Tynyanov (1894-1943), the most brilliant of the Russian formalists, who was simultaneously theoretician and historian of literature, critic and novelist, translator of h. Heine and specialist of cinema. The author tries to depict the making of his scientific system and to show the originality of his works amid the Opojaz group and the others trends of modern criticism. In the same time, Tynyanov's way is interpreted in a broader cultural perspective which goes far from the formalist episode and analyses the links of the scholar with the silver age and with the tragic experience of the thirties

Zinaida Gippius's literary works are striking for the development of the theme of androgyny.
Chapter One examines the major Russian Symbolist intellectuals in their treatment of androgyny, which was animated by a desire to transfigure the world. Gippius's treatment of androgyny was at odds with the prevailing theory because it was not based on the defeminization of humanity.
Chapter Two addresses Gippius's reconstruction of Symbolist androgyny theory and explains the rejection of gender-based motivation in her metaphysical system by its orientation toward personality and an awareness of God.
Chapter Three shows how she used her poetry and prose to advance her belief that a perfect, androgynous love could reunite humanity with God. While Gippius's prose describes the search for this type of love, her poetry deals with it as a lyric experience.
The religious motivations of Gippius's redefinition of Symbolist androgyny indicate the need to re-evaluate the place of Orthodox Christianity in the evolution of Russian Symbolism.

L’obiettivo del presente saggio è quello di prendere in esame la ritraduzione di Anna Karenina a opera di Claudia Zonghetti, pubblicata nel 2016, e compararla a una selezione di traduzioni preesistenti. Nel primo capitolo si è cercato di comprendere lo stato dell'arte degli studi sulla ritraduzione, a partire dall'ultimo decennio del XX secolo fino ai contributi più recenti. Segue un breve capitolo di introduzione all'opera di Tolstoj e alla storia della sua pubblicazione in Italia. Il terzo e ultimo capitolo tratta dell'analisi del primo capitolo della prima parte del romanzo nelle traduzioni selezionate, con particolare riguardo per quella a opera di Leone Ginzburg.

Wim Wenders, avec Faux Mouvement, James Gray, avec Two Lovers, Alexandre Sokourov, avec Faust, Francis Ford Coppola, avec Twixt, et Sylvie Verheyde, avec Confession d’un enfant du siècle, ont accordé une place singulière au matériau romantique. Par la pratique de l’adaptation, ces cinq cinéastes ont engagé un dialogue entre deux mouvements esthétiques, le romantisme et l’esthétique postmoderne. À travers cette rencontre, ils ont questionné une esthétique de la surface à l’aune d’une esthétique de l’intériorité, ils ont mobilisé des caractères romantiques qu’ils ont confrontés à des contextes historique et esthétique singuliers. Ces expressions néoromantiques, bien que prenant forme dans des espaces géographiques différents, ont en partage des traits, mettant en lumière un néoromantisme cinématographique. Enfin, le traitement, parfois très libre, du matériau littéraire originel questionne la notion d’adaptation cinématographique. De par les multiples sources mobilisées et la lecture du cinéaste toujours personnelle, les notions d’adaptation et de fidélité s’effacent au profit de celle de « recréation »
Wim Wenders, with “Wrong Move”, James Gray, with “Two Lovers”, Alexander Sokurov, with “Faust”, Francis Ford Coppola, with “Twixt”, and Sylvie Verheyde, with “Confession of a Child of the Century”, have given a unique place to the romantic material. Through the practice of the film adaptation, these five filmmakers have engaged a dialogue between two aesthetic movements, romanticism and the postmodern aesthetic. Through this encounter, they have questioned an aesthetic of the surface in terms of an aesthetic of interiority, and they have mobilized romantic characters confronted to historical and aesthetical singular contexts. Even though these neoromantic expressions are formed into various geographic areas, they share lines, highlighting a cinematographic neoromanticism. Lastly, the treatment, sometimes very open, of the original literary material questions the concept of film adaptation. By the multiple sources mobilized and the necessarily individual filmmaker’s interpretation, the concepts of adaptation and fidelity fade in favor of the concept of “recreation”

Unter den Genres des russischen Musiktheaters hat die komische Oper die längste Tradition. Entstanden in den siebziger Jahren des 18. Jahrhunderts, blieb sie bis ins erste Drittel des 19. Jahrhunderts hinein die einzige professionelle musiktheatralische Gattung. Nationale Genrekennzeichen sind das Lyrische, das Phantastische und das Satirische sowie die Vermischung dieser Züge, wie man sie beispielsweise in der Mainacht von Rimski-Korsakow, in Wakula der Schmied von Tschaikowsky und in der Hochzeit von Mussorgski findet, um nur einige herausragende Beispiele des 19. Jahrhunderts zu nennen. Diese genrespezifischen Eigenschaften wurden im 20. Jahrhundert größtenteils beibehalten. Neben den bekannten Werken Igor Strawinskys, Sergei Prokofjews und Dmitri Schostakowitschs stellen die Opern Nikolai Tscherepnins in der ersten Jahrhunderthälfte einen interessanten Sonderweg dar.

Romancier, conteur, essayiste, pédagogue, prédicateur, penseur politique et religieux, sociologue, philosophe, Tolstoi͏̈ est une des figures les plus marquantes de la littérature russe et mondiale. Le message universel de son œuvre se présente sous des facettes multiples. Nous avons étudié Tolstoi͏̈ du point de vue philosophique. Notre propos n'est donc ni littéraire, ni artistique, ni même à proprement parler religieux. C'est à la frontière de toutes ses disciplines que la philosophie entendue comme exercice nous permettra de circuler afin de mettre en évidence l'aspect vivant de cet exercice, tel qu'il est pratiqué aussi par Tolstoi͏̈. Le style confessionnel apparaît dans ce cadre comme la clef de l'originalité de l'œuvre tolstoi͏̈enne. La confession dans ses relations contradictoires avec la philosophie identifierait l'Occident. Par delà l'abîme historique qui sépare les deux penseurs, Saint-Augustin est un passage obligé pour comprendre la démarche tolstoi͏̈enne. Tolstoi͏̈ emprunte le genre confessionnel issu d'Augustin
Tolstoy described his mental anguish and spiritual suffering in his search for the meaning of life in A Confession. He searched for an answer in the writings of theologians, philosophers an scientists but found little to help him there. Finally the peasants gave him the answer he was searching for. Tolstoy's inner conflicts are often unresolved, sometimes even cousing tragic consequences. He perceived reality in its multiplicity, as a collection of separate entities round and into which he saw with a clarity and penetration scarcely ever equalled, but he believed only in on vast, unitary whole. Tolstoy attempted, though without complet complete success, to make his own actions conform to his new beliefs. Tolstoy's philosophy of history has, on the whole, not obtained the attention which it deserves, whether as an intrinsically interesting view or as an occurrence in the history of ideas, or aven as an element in the development of Tolstoy himself

Après une entrée remarquée dans le paysage littéraire soviétique du début des années 60, Vladimir Voi͏̈novitch s'est forgé, dans La vie et les aventures singulières du soldat Ivan Tchonkine, une notoriété d'écrivain satirique, complétée d'une image d'ardent polémiste acquise après la publication de Moscou 2042. Suivant la démarche de la sociologie des textes, une réflexion est menée afin d'amender cette réception partiale et partielle par la définition de la position de l'écrivain dans le champ culturel de 1961 à 1986 ainsi que par l'examen des stratégies adoptées par l'écrivain dans son projet littéraire fondé sur l'application différenciée des schèmes de l'humour et de l'ironie, et orienté vers la recherche d'un espace littéraire autonome
After marking an outstanding entry into the soviet literary landscape at the beginning of the sixties with Soldier Ivan Chonkin's life and singular adventures, Vladimir VOINOVICH became a notable satirical writer. After publishing Moscow 2042 he acquired the additional reputation of a brilliant polemicist. By following the approach of the sociology of literature this study has been carried out to amend this biased and partial vision through the definition of the author's position in the cultural and literary fields from 1961 to 1986. The analysis of the writing strategies applied by the author to his literary project will emphasise the differential application of the humour and irony schemes oriented toward the research of an autonomous literary space

L'enfermement tisse des liens privilégiés avec l'espace au cinéma : délimitation de l'image par le cadre de l'écran, captivité du spectateur dans la salle obscure. Cette fermeture spatiale fixée d'avance connaît une acceptation mouvante face aux images-sons cinématographiques. La recherche met en lumière un enfermement potentiel entre le film et son spectateur de manière à reconfigurer les différents espaces de la représentation. Les " films mystère " de David Lynch et les " essais " filmiques d'Alexandre Sokourov sont rapprochés selon un cheminement analytique : scénographie filmique d'enfermement, exploration des lieux du dedans, encadrement pictural. L'esthétique spatiale envisagée implique la participation fantasmatique du destinataire de l'œuvre à la clôture de la représentation. Les cas limites étudiés (Kiarostami, Hsiao-hsien, Von Trier) proposent une mise en perspective historique du cinéma contemporain en réfléchissant sur la construction spatiale des mondes diégétiques clos
The process of confinement is bound to the notion of space in cinema : take the limitation of the image by the screen, or the fact that the spectator is held captive within the movie theaters. My aim is to show that this given confinement is in fact challenged by the moving picture itself. This research brings to light the potential of this confinement produced by the film on the spectator so that the spatial dimensions of the representation can be transfigured. Mystery films by David Lynch and cinematic essays by Alexander Sokurov are paralleled according to the following analytic progression : the scenography of confinement, the exploration of what lies within closed spaces, and the pictorial framing. Such spatial aesthetics entails the fantastical participation of the audience once the enclosure materialises. The study of borderline cases (Kiarostami, Hsiao-hsien, Von Trier) offers an historical perspective whilst reflecting on the spatial construction of closed diegetic worlds

Unter den Genres des russischen Musiktheaters hat die komische Oper die längste Tradition. Entstanden in den siebziger Jahren des 18. Jahrhunderts, blieb sie bis ins erste Drittel des 19. Jahrhunderts hinein die einzige professionelle musiktheatralische Gattung. Nationale Genrekennzeichen sind das Lyrische, das Phantastische und das Satirische sowie die Vermischung dieser Züge, wie man sie beispielsweise in der Mainacht von Rimski-Korsakow, in Wakula der Schmied von Tschaikowsky und in der Hochzeit von Mussorgski findet, um nur einige herausragende Beispiele des 19. Jahrhunderts zu nennen. Diese genrespezifischen Eigenschaften wurden im 20. Jahrhundert größtenteils beibehalten. Neben den bekannten Werken Igor Strawinskys, Sergei Prokofjews und Dmitri Schostakowitschs stellen die Opern Nikolai Tscherepnins in der ersten Jahrhunderthälfte einen interessanten Sonderweg dar.

La mise en résonance du cinéma avec certains aspects de la poésie de Rilke, surtout l’Ouvert des Élégies de Duino, au cœur de sa recherche quant aux termes qui fondent l’exigence du poète dans le temps, ne va pas de soi. Si nous la tentons, c’est parce que cela nous permet l’expérimentation de quelques directions que peut prendre la reprise de la question du cinéma comme dispositif apte à être témoin d’une réalité et aussi à agir sur elle. Se portant principalement sur l’immédiateté de l’être-au-monde, l’Ouvert implique la question du regard en tant que lien tissé avec celui-ci. Posé comme inatteignable par la conscience de l’homme qui en ferait un objet, l’Ouvert serait exigence de lutte contre la posture de l’en-face au monde et des écrans de la représentation. Nous croyons voir dans l’attention au visuel, au brouillage des éléments qui déjoue leur codification, et les nouvelles formes que les films des cinéastes comme Godard, Sokourov et Tarr proposent, certaines expressions des plus hardies qui troublent le regard spectacle et font œuvre de résistance à l’abandon du rêve de répondre par nos créations à notre époque, étouffante puisqu’expliquée en termes de crise excédant notre emprise. Joindre ces hétérogènes ne passe pas par l’analogie mais par l’invention d’un territoire de rapprochements, traversé par des forces portant cet appel. S’y ajoute l’expérience pratique d’un film à partir de la pensée de Geneviève Clancy qui traverse également la partie théorique de ce travail. Fondée sur la question de la présence dont l'inspiration est en partie rilkéenne, cette pensée met en scène tous les possibles quand de telles radicalités deviennent notre implicite
It is not obvious to put cinema in echo with certain aspects of Rilke’s poetry, especially with the Open in the Duino Elegies, at the heart of his search on the founding terms of the poet's necessity through time. If this is tempted here, it is because it allows us to explore certain paths suggested by the renewed question on whether cinema is able to witness reality and also to act on it. Concerning mainly the immediacy of our 'being-in-the-world', the Open implies the question of one's view as a tie to the world. Unattainable by man's consciousness that would regard it as an object, the Open could be the necessity to fight against the posture of 'being-in front of' the world, and against the screens of representation. We discern in the importance attached to visuals, to the interference of elements thwarting their codification, as well as in the new forms proposed by the films of such directors as Godard, Sokourov and Tarr, some of the boldest expressions that disrupt the spectacle-view and constitute a resistance against abandoning the dream of responding through our creations to our epoch – a stifling epoch, since it is explained in terms of crisis exceeding our grasp. Connecting these heterogeneous fields does not come through analogy but through the invention of a territory of rapprochements crossed by forces bearing this call. To this is added the practical experience of directing a film based on the thought of Geneviève Clancy, which also crosses the theoretical part of this work. Based on the question of Presence – partly inspired by Rilke – this thought brings to the fore all possibles when these radicalities become the Implicit of our life

Cinquante apres son assassinat, m. K. Gamdhi reste indeniablement l'une des figures politiques et morales les plus marquantes de l'histoire de l'humanite. Homme d'une profondeur quasiment insondable et personnage hors de commun, gandhi etait a la fois un grand sage et un grand politicien. Au contraire des vieux sages indiens, gandhi considerait la politique comme une dimension de la vie humaine a trouvers laquelle il fallait essayer d'atteindre ce qu'il appelait "l'esprit de verite". La vision politique de gandhi se presente donc comme un nouvelle attitude dans la pensee politique de l'indemoderne. En verite l'attitude de gandhi en ce domaine releve strictement de son evolution spirituelle. On doit rappeler qu'il a ete profondement marque pas d'autres sources intellectuelles que la pensee indienne et notamment par trois grands penseurs du xixe siecle: ruskin, thoreau et tolstoi. Si le royaum de dieu est en vous de tolstoi permet a gandhi de vivifier sa passion pour la parole du christ et de raffermir sa foi en l'ahimsa, unto this last de ruskin, lui offre une nouvelle vision pratique de la vie de la communaute. Mahatma gandhi was one of those rare human beings who was simultaneously a theoretician and practicioner of non-violence. Gandhi possessed an inner conviction that non-violence was not only one of the key words of his own century but of centuries still to come. It is in this sense that his ideas on non-violence and tolerance transcend the context of india itself, even though these ideas were initially conceived in relation to india's independence and future. Nevertheless, in spite of what may seem obvious, it is no mere truism to state that gandhi would not have been gandhi had he not been born indian. But at the same time, gandhi also sought support for his ideas of tolerance and non-violence in other cultures. In all likelihood, he was deeply influenced by three thinkers of the west: thoreau, ruskin andtolstoy. It was leo tolstoy who exerted the greatest influence on gandhi's thought through his concept of love. Thoreau's book, on the duty of civil disobedience provided gandhi with a solid foundation for his satyagraha in south africa. And last but not least, ruskin awakened gandhi's conscience on the idea of community and simplicity

Nina Berberova, poète et prosateur russe (1901-1993), avait choisi dès son premier roman « Les derniers et les premiers » (1930) le thème de la vie des émigrés russes à Paris. C'est aussi cette communauté que Berberova évoque dans les récits tragi-comiques des chroniques de Billancourt (1929-1940). Les effets de l'expérience de l'exil sur l'individu se trouvent au coeur des enjeux qui sous-tendent les récits et les romans de Berberova (L'accompagnatrice, Le laquais et la putain, Astachev à Paris, La souveraine, Le livre du bonheur). Le thème de l'exil et de l'errance va évoluer au cours de son oeuvre pour devenir, dans A la mémoire de Schliemann (1958) et Le mal noir (1959) métaphore et condition ultime. C'est là que s'affirme l'originalité de Berberova en tant qu'écrivain de l’émigration, car refusant de faire du passé son refuge, elle a cherché à donner force et vigueur à un héros positif qui refuserait la nostalgie et tournerait le dos à une dubitation stérile. Nina Berberova, a Russian poet and prose-writer (1901-1993), had chosen to relate the life of Russian migrants in Paris right from the beginning of her career in her first novel The last and the first (1930). It is also this community that Berberova evokes in the tragicomic stories of Billancourt chronicles (1929-1940). The impact of exile on the individual lies at the core of Berberova's stories and novels (The accompanist; The waiter and the slut; Astachev in Paris ; The empress, the book of happiness). The themes of exile and wandering evolved through the years and became, in to the Memories of Schliemann (1958) and Black pestilence (1959), the ultimate metaphors and conditions of these new migrants. This is where one can see the originality of Berberova as a migrant writer. While she refused to take refuge in the past, she endeavored to give strength and vogor to positive heroes who turned their backs on nostalgia and fruitless doubt. The analysis of her work allows to assess the “young” writer's contribution to 20th century Russian literature. She knew to use exiled people's disarray to turn characters into modernist figures

Cette thèse a pour objet d'éclairer la matérialité de l'image dans le cinéma contemporain, à travers les œuvres de Stanley Kubrick, Alexandre Sokourov, Tsai Ming-liang et Gus Van Sant. Pour comprendre l'apport de l'esthétique de la matière, cette étude relève les éléments de fluidité dans leurs films, mais aussi cherche à montrer comment ces cinéastes font apparaître la qualité sensible de la matière par le langage cinématographique, c'est-à-dire par l'image. La première partie étudie le rapport entre la matière et la forme dans les œuvres de Stanley Kubrick et d'Alexandre Sokourov. Dans « Shining » (1980) de Kubrick, la matière visqueuse déchire et déborde de la maison-forme, tandis que chez Sokourov, le musée-forme qui apparaît dans « Hubert Robert. Une vie heureuse » (1996), « Elégie de la traversée » (2001) et « L'Arche russe » (2002) se construit en tant qu'espace-milieu où le mouvement de la caméra dégage la perception liquide. La deuxième partie explore ce que manifestent les éléments liquides dans les œuvres de Tsai Ming-liang. L'écoulement liquide détermine pour cet auteur l'état du monde : le corps, la maison, le cinéma sont tous trois inclus dans ce régime de l'écoulement. La troisième partie étudie les variations de la consistance de l'eau dans les œuvres de Gus Van Sant. L'image de cet élément liquide devient fluide. Le cinéma rencontre le monde sensible à travers l'expressivité de la matière. En fluidifiant, le cinéma nous force à penser le monde qui se donne au changement.
