Streszczenie:
Abstract Introduction Children and adolescents with epilepsy have more sleep problems compared to their healthy peers. These sleep problems not only negatively impact development and quality of life, but also pose challenges in managing epilepsy effectively. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to explore the use of self-help strategies for sleep among children and adolescents with epilepsy and examine the association between these strategies and sleep. Methods Seventy-five children and adolescents with epilepsy aged 1 to 17 years (mean age: 10.29 years) were recruited from a university-affiliated hospital between July 2022 and November 2023 in Taipei, Taiwan. They wore an actigraph on their wrist for a week, while their parents concurrently completed a sleep diary to document the utilization of any self-help strategies for sleep during the same period. Parent-reported sleep in children and adolescents was obtained using the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ). Data were analyzed using independent samples t-test. Results Of all the participants, only 17 (22.7%) children and adolescents had a nighttime sleep efficiency greater than 85%. The average total score of the CSHQ was 52.31±7.46, indicating moderate to severe sleep disturbance. Thirty-one (41.3%) parents reported using self-help strategies to help their children and adolescents sleep. These strategies included listening to music or stories (n = 14, 18.7%), reading books (n = 13, 17.3%), accompany (n = 6, 8%), using relaxation techniques (n = 2, 2.7%), feeding (n = 2, 2.7%), and giving teething toys (n = 2, 2.7%). There were no statistically significant differences (p > 0.05) in sleep efficiency and CSHQ scores between children and adolescents who used self-help strategies for sleep and those who did not. Conclusion Many children and adolescents with epilepsy experience sleep disturbance and poor sleep quality, with a significant proportion attempting to use self-help strategies to improve their sleep. Our findings highlight the importance of managing sleep in this population and suggest the need for further exploration into the effectiveness of specific self-help strategies for sleep in children and adolescents with epilepsy. Pop-up book, a child, not only tells stories in a vivid and creative way, but also stimulates children's interest in exploration and reads in a game way through pop-up book's unique layout design and changes in the three-dimensional structure of paper. Mongolian folk children's stories, with their unique ethnic customs and artistic characteristics, have become an important medium for the inheritance of national culture, which brings important influences to children such as cultural enlightenment, personality foundation, moral enlightenment and life experience, and is also an important resource for children's language learning. Mongolian folk children's stories can also make children feel the particularity of national language, which is conducive to stimulating children's interest in learning national language and grasping the direction and ways of learning national language. This paper discusses the design of children's pop-up book with Mongolian stories. Moreover, this paper will also put forward some new design ideas to increase the interaction between children's three-dimensional books and children. Through these reforms and innovative designs, children's three-dimensional books can have better communication functions with children on the basis of traditional books, and can bring better reading experience to children readers.

A parent–child dialogic reading program was implemented across four preschools, involving 62 caregivers/parents in a low socioeconomic status, disadvantaged community where English was not the first language in 54 per cent of the homes. This socioculturally sensitive program aimed to enhance children's language and emergent literacy development, and increase parental involvement in their preschoolers' education. Over the six months of the program, the amount of parent–child reading more than doubled, from an average of 38 minutes of parent-child reading per week, to 89 minutes of parent–child reading per week. Year One teachers in the following year reported positively on the children's literacy readiness, compared to that of previous intakes. The program is described in the paper.

The article deals with definitions of «children's book», «book for children», «children's literature», «literature for children», «children's reading circle». The mentioned terms are divided into two groups. The first group includes those authors, who consider material and the structural aspects of book, its reader's purpose, printing and design. This issue was studied by S. G. Antonova, N. Z. Ryabinina, I. A. Zharkov, I. F. Pavlova, S. A. Karaichentseva. The second group considers genre and thematic characteristics of book, its effect on children development. Among researchers should be called I. N. Arzamastseva, I. G. Mineralova, S. A. Nikolaev, E. E. Zubareva, T. D. Polozova. All submitted definitions are discussed in details in the context of those tasks that solve children's editions. The author has collected theoretical and practical views of philologists, bibliologists, historians, editors on definitions of children's book and its essential meaning for each field of science. Based on scientific historicism methods and terminological analysis of general components of children edition, its material and structural sides, genre and thematic characteristics have been revealed. Functions of the children's book are determined: communicative, administrative, cognitive, educational, aesthetic ones. The article objective is studying the phenomenon complex, based on which the author has given an independent interpretation of this definition. Additional information on children's literature specific features and its «special» design is presented at National Standard GOST 7.60-90 «Editions. Fundamental types. Terms and definitions», as well as branch standards: OST 29.130-97 «Editions, terms and definitions», OST 29.127-96 «Publishing books for children», OST 29.127-2002 «Quality requirements of book and journal editions for children and adolescents». The resulting terminological analysis will be useful both for professionals of publishing and editorial business, researchers studying the history and formation of children's books, historians, as well as for teachers in the educational course «Children's Literature», «Bibliology». The conclusion is that the children's book will have a stable cover, which content and variety depends on time, professional activity of authors, artists, editors, publishers, and other persons relating to the book publishing system of the country and regions.

Intangible cultural heritage is the common wealth of the people of all ethnic groups in the country. It includes the deepest feelings of all ethnic groups, and contains far-reaching significance and value. The Intangible cultural heritage of a nation contains the roots of its traditional culture and the unique way of existence that forms its culture. Yunnan is the province with the largest number of ethnic minorities in China. Its Intangible cultural heritage is rich in content and diverse in form. By integrating the essence of Intangible cultural heritage with children's book design, it is an important way for children to learn traditional culture and spread and inherit national culture. The dissemination of information through books is characterized by comprehensive and systematic content. Therefore, according to the style characteristics of Intangible cultural heritage in Yunnan, integrating the extracted visual elements into the design of children's books can not only promote and protect Intangible cultural heritage, but also add different styles of national culture to the design of children's books.

This paper starts with questions concerning the paucity of Canadian children’s poetry even after the British North American Act went into effect in 1867. Against the weak background of Canadian poetry for children up to the 1960s, this study discusses the significance of Dennis Lee’s theory and poetry, which had an impact on fostering Canadian national identity and the freedom of imagination. Criticizing Canada’s colonial position and its inward colonization, Lee explores the authenticity of Canadian writing, which has roots in the “here and now.” He senses cadence as presence, and actively employs sound, nursery rhymes, Canadian settings and home-grown domestic details. Alligator Pie (1974) and Nicholas Knock and Other People (1974) are “complementary” books of poems; in the former for younger children, linguistic games with child-like playfulness convey Canadian culture and sensibilities, and in the latter for older children, “the liberation of repressed energies” is involved. Lee’s word play and nonsensical use of language provide the early childhood with a knowledge of Canadian identity and the liberating power of imagination.

Joanne K. Rowling's teenage wizard has enchanted readers all over the globe and Harry Potter can truly be called an international hero. However, as I will argue, he is also very much an English national hero, complying with the national auto-image of the English gentleman as well as with the idea of Christian masculinity, another English auto-image holding that outdoor activity is more character-building than book learning. I will also show that the series can be read as a national heroic epic in two respects. First, Harry Potter, alias Robin Hood, has to fight the Norman yoke, an English myth haunting the nation since the Norman invasion in 1066. The series displays as a national model an apparently paternalistic Anglo-Saxon feudal society marked by tolerance and liberty as opposed to foreign rule. Second, by establishing parallels to events which took place in Nazi Germany, the series takes up the idea of fighting it, which is a popular topos in British (children's) literature which serves to reinforce a positive self-image.

Literary prizes often determine eligibility in terms of nationality; this article posits that they also play a significant role in constructing national literatures. An analysis of the Carnegie Medal, the UK's oldest children's book award, and some of its competitors, including the Guardian Prize and Other Award demonstrates the tension between the desire to claim cultural value for children's literature and to construct a body of literature that represents the real and imagined community of the nation. In the UK, this tension appears most notably with regard to depictions of Black, Asian and minority ethnic Britons.

Abstract Objectives To examine how children's willingness to try new foods (WTNF) is related to diet quality and body mass index. Methods Participants included children (n = 402), ages 3–5 y, recruited from childcare centers participating in baseline assessment of a randomized controlled trial to evaluate strategies to promote the development of healthy eating behaviors. Children's intake of fruit, vegetables, sweets, and salty snacks was measured through a short food frequency questionnaire administered to parents and a diet quality score (DQS) was generated. Children's height and weight were measured, and body mass index z-scores (BMIz) was calculate using CDC criteria. Children's WTNF was assessed by offering 6 novel and 3 familiar foods during a food tasting activity administered in the childcare center. Poisson regressions were used to examine the association between children's WTNF (dichotomized as high: tried ≥ 3 novel foods vs. low: tried < 3 novel foods) and children's weekly intake of each food group. An ordinal regression was used to examine the association between children's WTNF and DQS. Linear regressions were used to examine the association between children's WTNF and BMIz. All analyses were adjusted for child sex, age, race, and household income, parent BMI was also adjusted in models including child BMI. In all models, standard errors were adjusted for clustering within childcare centers, the unit of randomization. Results Children who demonstrated high WTNF consumed 1.24 (95% CI: 1.11–1.38) times more servings of vegetables per week, and had a 1.53 (95% CI: 1.03–2.26) greater odds of having a higher diet quality score compared to children who demonstrated low WTNF. Children's WTNF was not significantly associated with children's intake of fruits, salty snacks, or sweets, or related to their BMIz. Conclusions Diet quality is compromised by children's lower WTNF. Future studies are needed to investigate strategies that promote children's WTNF such as vegetables, and examine whether the relation between low willingness to try new foods and poor diet quality influences child weight outcomes prospectively across childhood. ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to explore the relation between joint picture-book-reading experiences provided in the home and children's early oral language skills. Subjects were 41 two-year-old children and their mothers. Measures included maternal report of the age at which she began to read to the child, the frequency of home reading sessions, the number of stories read per week, and the frequency of visits by the child to the local library. Measures of language skill used were the child's receptive and expressive scores on the revised Reynell Developmental Language Scales. Multiple regression analyses indicated that picture-book reading exposure was more strongly related to receptive than to expressive language. Age of onset of home reading routines was the most important predictor of oral language skills. Directions of effect, the importance of parental beliefs as determinants of home reading practices, and the possible existence of a threshold level for reading frequency are discussed.

ABSTRACT Objective: This study examined food product advertisements directed to children and aired on closed television channels in Brazil, according to the types of foods and beverages advertised and the advertising content. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted on the adequacy of food commercials directed to children and aired by six pay-television broadcasters according to two parameters: "The Food Guide for the Brazilian Population, 2014", and the National Council on Children's and Adolescents' Rights Resolution nº 163 of 2014 about food advertising. The advertisements were recorded in July 2015, at different times and days of the week. Results: One hundred and sixty-two hours were recorded, registering 3,468 commercials: 1,850 were related to internal programming and 1,618 advertised toys (22.15%), food and beverages (5.61%), applications for electronic devices (5.58%), and entertainment/events (5.56%). The Fisher exact test showed fewer number of food commercials compared to other types of commercials (p<0.001). The main food items advertised by all television stations were ultraprocessed foods and no advertisements of fresh food were observed (p<0.001). Most of the food commercials (64.30%) used children's language and characters; 43.00% used songs in children's voices, and 21.40% linked gift distribution to food. Conclusion: The number of food commercials observed was lower than in previous national studies. However, the advertisements did not follow current legislation, indicating the abuse of marketing communication to children. More effective public policies and the respect and enforcement of legislation on child advertising could protect children from high consumption of ultraprocessed foods.

Purpose Research has indicated that interactive shared book reading can support a wide range of early language skills and that children who are read to regularly in the early years learn language faster, enter school with a larger vocabulary, and become more successful readers at school. Despite the large volume of research suggesting interactive shared reading is beneficial for language development, two fundamental issues remain outstanding: whether shared book reading interventions are equally effective (a) for children from all socioeconomic backgrounds and (b) for a range of language skills. Method To address these issues, we conducted a randomized controlled trial to investigate the effects of two 6-week interactive shared reading interventions on a range of language skills in children across the socioeconomic spectrum. One hundred and fifty children aged between 2;6 and 3;0 (years;months) were randomly assigned to one of three conditions: a pause reading, a dialogic reading, or an active shared reading control condition. Results The findings indicated that the interventions were effective at changing caregiver reading behaviors. However, the interventions did not boost children's language skills over and above the effect of an active reading control condition. There were also no effects of socioeconomic status. Conclusion This randomized controlled trial showed that caregivers from all socioeconomic backgrounds successfully adopted an interactive shared reading style. However, while the interventions were effective at increasing caregivers' use of interactive shared book reading behaviors, this did not have a significant impact on the children's language skills. The findings are discussed in terms of practical implications and future research. Supplemental Material https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.12420539

Nationalistic projects and bloody conflicts around the world testify to the nation's determination to fight the forces that threaten its sovereignty. The present discussion reads Cantre'r Gwaelod (1996) – a Welsh book from the European Picture Book Collection – as an attempt to defend the idea of national identity. The colonial and postcolonial cultural battles that have been taking place in Wales, and elsewhere, for the duration of centuries have not left children, or children's literature, unaffected. When the Welsh picture book is situated in its local environment, it becomes apparent that it advocates resistance to `foreign invasion'. The waves that drown the glorious ancient history of Wales are the waves of English colonialism. Younger generations are expected to amend this historical discontinuity and reclaim their nation's glory. The subjective positioning of both child-protagonist and child-reader is designed to facilitate national regeneration. I find resistance to colonialism important and legitimate, but I also find it problematical when it takes the form of monolithic nationalism. While children may prove capable of resisting nationalistic appropriation of their minds and bodies, the powerful institutions that support it often leave little space for resistance.

Pyelonephritis is an unusual cause of acute renal failure in children with an anatomically normal urinary tract and no other predisposing conditions. On the other hand, acute renal failure due to acute pyelonephritis has been reported in adults, and is often associated with pregnancy, solitary kidney, indwelling catheter or use of nonsteroidal medications.1-3 We report the case of a 12-year-old girl with normal renal anatomy and no known predisposing conditions who developed acute renal failure during the course of acute bacterial pyelonephritis, and who recovered completely after appropriate antibiotic therapy. CASE REPORT A previously healthy 12-year-old female was admitted to the Children's National Medical Center with a 1-week history of vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramping.

In Malaysia, the development of information and communication technology (ICT) has created an impact on children’s book in the publishing world. Subsequent to this development, local book publishers were challenged to produce reading material in interactive digital form for children. Recognizing the importance of ICT and the benefit brought to the society, the government has implemented both the National Creative Industry Policy (DIKN) and the Malaysian Education Development Plan (2013-2025). Under this policy, players in the broadcasting and publishing industry in Malaysia were encouraged to develop the country's creative industry in order to raise the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, how prepared are players in the bookkeeping industry to produce interactive digital books for children? This is because the number of publications until 2017 is still small. This article will analyze the publishing status of children's digital books produced by the local publishers. Additionally, this article aims to investigate the readiness of publishers to publish interactive digital books for children in Malaysia. The method used in this study is through the analysis of children’s book titles in digital format from the website. In addition, the study also interviewed the management of the publishing house. Results showed Malaysian book publishers sought to bring the organization's direction towards the publication of interactive digital books. However, a few were found to be reluctant to change. In conclusion, Malaysian publishers will do well with the support of all parties in order to strive for the publication of children's interactive digital books via the online platform.

Purpose The purpose of this clinical focus article was to describe specific considerations for print-referencing interventions for children with hearing loss and present a case study. Method One preschool child with hearing loss who used amplification participated in this case study. The child participated individually in print-referencing book-reading intervention (10-min session once a week for 7 weeks), supplemented by parent carryover at home. Each session involved a dose of 20 print-referencing behaviors across two children's books, for a cumulative intervention intensity of 140 print references. Assessment of the child's print knowledge skills occurred at the beginning of each session. Results Print-referencing book-reading intervention was associated with gains in conceptual print knowledge. Conclusions Print referencing, when implemented with specific considerations for children with hearing loss in mind, may be an effective emergent literacy intervention for increasing conceptual print knowledge in preschool children with hearing loss. More research is needed in this area to determine appropriate dose and dose frequency, as well as effect of interventionist on gains. Supplemental Materials https://doi.org/10.23641/asha.13093025

Abstract: In 1949, a new French publishing house, named Cocorico, launched a brand new collection called "Un petit livre d'or". In fact, it was simply a translation of the American "Little Golden Books" series. These cheap, cheerful and colourful picturebooks for the children of postwar Europe enjoyed immediate success. But the importation into Europe of the concept of "little golden books" had roots far beyond the simple framework of children's publishing and became part of the cultural Cold War," "book diplomacy," and the policy of "containment." All this was orchestrated by a multi-faceted dual national Franco-American, Georges Duplaix, who worked for the CIA.

The beginning of the 20th century is a period of creative and printing experiments in the Ukrainian art. New generation of Ukrainian books was born in this period. The illustration of the children's books was a significant part of this process. Famous Ukrainian graphic artists, such as H. Narbut, M. Zhuk, O. Sudomora, V. Kononchuk, took part in the creation of a new Ukrainian children's book. Some little-known artists also worked with them, and their creativity was an important part of the artistic process. Petro Lapyn was one of those artists. From 1917 to 1929, he worked with the famous publishing houses, such as Vernyhora, Derzhavne Vydavnytstvo, Proliski, Knyhospilka and Rukh. Children's books, illustrated by P. Lapyn, are kept in the funds of the Pedagogical Museum of Ukraine, the National Library of Ukraine for Children, Ivan Fedorov Book Chamber of Ukraine and private collections. We have found about 30 of his projects. But the information about the artist himself and his life is quite limited. One of the first books he illustrated was the poem of S. Rudanskyi «Vovk, Sobaka ta Kit» («The Wolf, the Dog, and the Cat»), published in black and white in 1918. This early Petro Lapyn's work revealed his artistic outstanding peculiarities: vibrant linear drawing, harmonious combination of text and illustrations, variety of graphic techniques and skills in the representation of characteristic features. The high point of the artist's career is the illustration of «Crows and Owls», I. Franko’s fairy tale, printed in 1926 (Kharkiv, Rukh). It demonstrates the animalistic works of the artist. There are typical structural elements in fairy tale books: vignettes, drop caps. P. Lapyn uses decorative handwritten fonts and silhouette drawings for them. His graphic creations are full of emotions. Specific features of his work are: humour, emotionality, anthropomorphism, careful attitude towards literary material, and consistently high level of drawing.

ObjectiveIn developing countries, malnutrition is a noteworthy concern related to the well-being of people, and this study aimed to determine the factors that affect malnutrition among children below 5 years in Ghana.DesignThe study used a secondary data source, specifically the Ghanaian Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey Six (MICS 6), which was conducted by the Ghana Statistical Service in 2017–2018. The MICS data are hierarchical, as children are categorised within households, and households are further grouped within a higher cluster, violating the independence assumption that must be addressed in the analyses. This study used a Bayesian multilevel ordinal logistic regression to model, identify and analyse the factors linked to child malnutrition in Ghana.SettingThe setting of the study was the household level across the previous 10 administrative regions in Ghana.ParticipantsData for 8875 children under 5 years were used for the study. The data were gathered from households in all 10 administrative regions of Ghana using a sampling procedure consisting of stratification and random selection to ensure national representation.ResultsThe results showed that the Northern Region of Ghana had the highest occurrence rate of severe and moderate malnutrition, and factors such as the count of children’s books or picture books, whether the child experienced fever in the last 2 weeks, age and sex of the child, and the child’s household wealth index quintile were strongly linked to malnutrition among Ghanaian children.ConclusionThese findings underscore the intricate interplay of factors contributing to child nutrition in Ghana and suggest that addressing malnutrition necessitates a comprehensive approach that considers factors such as access to healthcare and reading materials, household wealth, and other social and environmental factors.

Abstract Objectives The objective of this research was to assess associations between skin carotenoid concentrations and participation in the FIT Game Healthy Eating Program, a school-wide program aimed at increasing vegetable intake among children. Methods Randomized-control trial in which two schools played the FIT Game and two schools received no intervention. Skin carotenoids were measured using a Pharmanex BioPhotonic Scanner at baseline, during the last 3 days of the 8-week intervention, and 3 months following the end of the intervention. Results 1455 students participated in the FIT Game program and 722 (50%) had their skin carotenoids measured. The mean skin carotenoid score at baseline was 29,014 Raman counts (SD 8892) and there were no pre-intervention statistically significant differences across condition (Fit Game vs. Control) or school. A linear regression model controlling for child's BMI, exposure to smoking, and supplement use predicted baseline skin carotenoid concentration to increase by 48 Raman counts per gram of observed vegetable intake at lunch. Multivariate analyses of covariance (MANCOVA) was used to assess differences in children's carotenoid concentrations by condition. Children in the intervention schools had 10%, and 9% higher carotenoid scores than did children in the control schools at the end of the intervention, and 3 months following the end of the intervention, respectfully (P-values < 0.001 for both). The effect of the intervention on differences in skin carotenoid concentrations over time was significant (F(2570) = 15.616; P < 0.001) and explained ∼5% of the variance in children's skin carotenoid concentrations. Conclusions A school wide-intervention known as the FIT Game Healthy Eating Program produced increases in children's skin carotenoid concentrations, a biomarker of carotenoid containing vegetable intake. The article deals with the influence of state ideology on children, as carried out through state control/supervision of book publishing. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the peculiarities of creating (a new) social reality by means of children’s literature in the 1920s and 1930s in Ukraine. The research material is a selection of publications of the Ukrainian specialised publishing houses Ditvydav and Molodyi Bilshovyk. The results of the analysis show that 46% of the books in the corpus contain the following keywords: revolution, civil war, Pioneers, Little Octobrists, Soviet holidays, Lenin, Stalin, collective farms, collectivisation, industrialisation, metallurgy, factory, mines, and so forth, that is, they contain an emphasised ideological component. Soviet society’s rejection of the national tradition, even in the face of the policy of Ukrainianisation, is also confirmed. The dominance of Russia and its representatives in comparison with other republics in the USSR and the limitations of gender roles in the constructed worldview are also demonstrated.

Streszczenie:
OBJECTIVE: To analyze the content of television food advertising on Brazilian 'free-to-air' broadcast stations during children's programming. METHODS: This is a descriptive study which evaluated the content of food advertising between 08:00 a.m. and 06:00 p.m. on three Brazilian 'free-to-air' broadcast stations (A, B and C). Data collection was performed during 10 week days and weekends. Food advertising was organized according to the food group classification from the Food Guide for the Brazilian Population. The annual exposure to food advertising was obtained considering the national children average exposure to television of five daily hours. The χ2 and Fisher's exact test were conducted in order to identify differences in the content of television advertising in the morning and in the afternoon and between broadcast stations. RESULTS: One hundred and twenty six hours of programming were recorded, totalizing 1,369 commercials - 13.8% of food. There was major participation of 'sugars and sweets' (48.1%) and 'oils and fats' (29.1%) among food advertising and much food publicity in the afternoon (15.7%; morning: 12.2%, p = 0.037). Moreover, the broadcast with more audience was the one that advertised more food (A: 63.5%; B: 12.2%; C: 24.3%), especially 'sugar and sweets' (A: 59.2%; B: 43.5%; C: 21.7%). Finally, an annual average exposure to 2,735.5 commercials was obtained for Brazilian children, totalizing 2,106.3 of food rich in sugar and fat publicity. CONCLUSION: Food advertising is focused on poor nutritionally food, emphasizing the need for specific intervention strategies.

Streszczenie:
Background: A key component of COG maintenance chemotherapy for pediatric B-ALL has been the inclusion of vincristine/steroid pulses administered every 4 weeks. With the intensification of pre-maintenance therapy and modern risk stratification, there is uncertainty regarding the optimal frequency of these pulses in the context of modern ALL therapy. AALL0932 was designed to optimize maintenance therapy by asking two questions: (1) whether giving vincristine/dexamethasone (VCR/DEX) pulses every 12 weeks was non-inferior to every 4 week pulses; and (2) whether a starting weekly oral methotrexate (MTX dose) of 40 mg/m²/dose would be superior to the standard 20 mg/m2/dose. We previously reported that there was no benefit to intensifying oral methotrexate during maintenance therapy (ASH 2017). We now report on the outcomes of the VCR/DEX pulses. Methods: Average risk (AR) patients participating in the randomization had NCI SR B-ALL without CNS3 or testicular leukemia, unfavorable genetic characteristics or Down syndrome, AND either favorable genetics (trisomies of chromosomes 4 &10 or ETV6/RUNX1 fusion) with Day 8 peripheral blood (PB) minimal residual disease (MRD) ≥ 0.01% or CNS2 status, Day 29 bone marrow (BM) MRD < 0.01%, OR if neutral cytogenetics, had Day 8 PB MRD < 1% and Day 29 BM MRD < 0.01%. AR patients were randomized to 1 of 4 Maintenance regimens using a 2 x 2 factorial design: (A): VCR/DEX pulses every 4 weeks and oral MTX 20 mg/m²/week (standard arm); (B): VCR/DEX pulses every 4 weeks and oral MTX 40 mg/m²/week; (C): VCR/DEX pulses every 12 weeks and oral MTX 20 mg/m²/week; and (D): VCR/DEX pulses every 12 weeks and oral MTX 40 mg/m²/week. Results from the MTX randomization have been previously reported (ASH 2017). Between 2010 and 2016, 2364 patients were randomized at the start of maintenance to VCR/DEX pulses every 4 weeks [Arms A and B (n=1186)] or VCR/DEX pulses every 12 weeks [Arms C & D (n=1178)]. Results: The 5-year disease-free survival (DFS) (±SE) measured from the time of randomization for the AR subset of patients randomized to receive VCR/DEX pulse every 4 weeks vs. every 12 weeks was 94.1% ±1.0% vs. 95.1% ±0.9%, respectively (one-sided p=0.86 indicating no evidence of DFS inferiority for 12 week frequency). The 5-year overall survival (OS) (±SE) for the AR patients randomized to receive VCR/DEX pulse every 4 weeks vs. every 12 weeks was 98.3% ±0.5%, vs. 98.6% ±0.5%, respectively (one sided p=0.69). There was no evidence of significant interaction between the MTX and VCR/DEX pulses randomizations. Conclusions: AALL0932 demonstrated that the AR subset of patients with SR B-ALL who received VCR/DEX pulses every 12 weeks maintained outstanding outcomes similar to those who received pulses every 4 weeks. The decreased frequency of VCR/DEX pulses will be incorporated into frontline B-lineage COG ALL trials thereby dramatically improving patient and family quality of life. Streszczenie:
This book serves two important functions. First, it gives a comprehensive overview of the many varieties of Islamic practice and organization in contemporary Turkey and sets these into the larger national context. Second, the author shares important insights into the manner in which the culture of the political process leads inevitably to certain kinds of accommodation with religion. The survey of Turkey's religious brotherhoods, associations, and political parties, while brief, is comprehensive without being superficial. Enough history, ideology, organization, and telling details are given for each to come alive in the larger context of Turkey's complex intersection of culture and political history. The book comes alive in the description of the Alevi, a religious minority that has been the subject of the author's own research for many years. There also is a particularly interesting discussion of the presentation of Islam in children's schoolbooks and the relationship of Islamic values to moral behavior and love for the nation. Although this is not new material, it is set within a larger discussion.

Streszczenie:
BACKGROUND: Obesity and related morbidity increase in Egyptian women and their children. A better understanding of dietary and activity patterns is needed to reduce obesity prevalence.AIM: The present study aimed to assess dietary patterns and physical activity in Egyptian overweight and obese mothers and to explore its relationships with their children's body mass index (BMI).SUBJECTS AND METHODS: This descriptive case-control study was conducted at the National Research Center. The study included a sample of 64 overweight and obese mothers and 75 children, compared with apparently healthy non-obese mothers and their children of matched age and social class. Tested questionnaires were used to collect information of the studied subjects.RESULTS: A statistically significantly higher incidence of unemployment, large family size was observed in overweight & obese women compared to controls (P < 0.05). Those women who consumed vegetables more than 3 times a week were less likely to be overweight or obese (P < 0.05). No significant association were detected between mothers' physical activity, dietary behaviour variables and children’s BMI except for consuming beverages with added sugar (95%CI = 0.074-0.985, P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Improper dietary patterns, nonworking mothers and big family size are associated with obesity among Egyptian women. Emphasis should be given to increasing physical activity and encourage healthier diets among Egyptian mothers and their children.

Streszczenie:
Literacy improvement is a crucial task that is carried out in both schools and homes, or lingkungan. This is how the government was informed through the national literary festival. Using interactive media can help with literary event execution. Currently, children are becoming more interested in contemporary media or games like smartphones, tablets, and other devices of that nature. However, if children are not aware of their peers' sex, a variety of media might be harmful to them. Due to this, educators conducted media savvy pop-up book evaluations to promote early literacy in children. The purpose of this paper is to understand how to create a media smart pop-up book program for teaching children to read. Based on the mosque, this study was conducted on children aged 7 to 12 in Buntu Batu, Kecamatan Bastem, Kabupaten Luwu, and Sulawesi Selatan. The current study used a kualitatif deskriptif design for qualitative research. The study's findings are based on the development of young children's language literacy, which can improve when using media such as smart pop-up books during instruction. In light of this, it is evident that media smart pop-up books may be used to teach young children and assist them in developing their reading abilities.
