Learning is more interesting and helps foster a sense of enthusiasm for learning is the role of multimedia. This study aims to design multimedia learning on the subject of Computer Networks and Data Communication for informatics education students. This type of research uses a development research approach, this research will only focus on stage I, namely designing multimedia learning. Designing multimedia learning in computer networking and data communications subject using Lectora Inspire Software. Furthermore, validation is carried out based on expert trials, on aspects of software engineering, aspects of application design, aspects of visual communication. The results of designing multimedia learning in the subject of Computer Networks and Data Communication for informatics education students are valid, feasible, easy to use, and very friendly. So that with this multimedia learning design greatly contributes to learning in informatics education.

With the increase of online journalism, embedded multimedia stories have become more popular. Yet, little is known about the cognitive and affective effects this journalistic format may have on the audience. This experimental study compares the effects of embedded multimedia, traditional multimedia, and text-only format on readers’ knowledge gain, emotional reactions, and narrative transportation. Overall, the effects are substantially less pronounced than expected. The audiences’ emotional reactions and narrative transportation do not depend on modality, whereas knowledge gain is slightly decreased by multimodality. The theoretical, practical, and methodological implications of these limited effects are discussed.

In this article we reflect upon the educational possibilities of interactive multimedia stories. After analysing the origins and the evolution of stories, we studied the innovations introduced by the multimedia convergence, the hypertext and interactivity in stories with educational objectives within the Information Society. We are also presenting an interactive multimedia story project developed by the Master of Communication and Education at the UAB. En el marco del presente artículo se reflexiona sobre las posibilidades educativas del cuento multimedia interactivo. En este sentido y tras analizar los orígenes y evolución del cuento, se estudian las novedades que la hipertextualidad, interactividad y convergencia multimedia introducen en la creación de historias ideadas con una finalidad educativa en el marco de la Sociedad de la Información. Del mismo modo, se presenta un proyecto de cuento multimedia interactivo desarrollado en el Máster de Comunicación y Educación de la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona.
