Abstract. This study is part of a much wider project in which professors and researchers from the University of Naples Federico II and the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli are collaborating in different subject areas. The object of study is the ancient Sanctuary of Montevergine characterized by a long history of transformations and stratifications. Driven by the desire to fill a singular gap, linked to the lack of a systematic and comprehensive study of a complex whose first settlement dates back to the early 12th century, various studies have been started relating to the historical, artistic and architectural aspects.Various surveying techniques and methods had to be used due to its architectural, compositional and settlement characteristics. Integrated 3D surveying technologies were used for both the cognitive studies of the entire complex as well as for investigating and detecting the elements at different scales, ranging from the architectural to the detailed ones.

Streszczenie:
The spectral mechanisms of the differential diffusion of pairs of passive scalars with different molecular diffusivities are studied in stationary isotropic turbulence, using direct numerical simulation data at Taylor-scale Reynolds number up to 160 on 1283 and 2563 grids. Of greatest interest are the roles of nonlinear triadic interactions between different scale ranges of the velocity and scalar fields in the evolution of spectral coherency between the scalars, and the effects of mean scalar gradients.Analysis of single-scalar spectral transfer (extending the results of a previous study) indicates a robust local forward cascade behaviour at high wavenumbers, which is strengthened by both high diffusivity and mean gradients. This cascade is driven primarily by moderately non-local interactions in which two small-scale scalar modes are coupled via a lower-wavenumber velocity mode near the peak of the energy dissipation spectrum. This forward cascade is coherent, tending to increase the coherency between different scalars at high wavenumbers but to decrease it at lower wavenumbers. However, at early times coherency evolution at high wavenumbers is dominated by de-correlating effects due to a different type of non-local triad consisting of two scalar modes with a moderate scale separation and a relatively high-wavenumber velocity mode. Consequently, although the small-scale motions play little role in spectral transfer, they are responsible for the rapid de-correlation observed at early times. At later times both types of competing triadic interactions become important over a wider wavenumber range, with increased relative strength of the coherent cascade, so that the coherency becomes slow-changing. When uniform mean scalar gradients are present, a stationary state develops in the coherency spectrum as a result of a balance between a coherent mean gradient contribution (felt within about 1 eddy-turnover time) and the net contribution from scale interactions. The latter is made less de-correlating because of a strengthened coherent forward cascade, which is in turn caused by uniform mean gradients acting as a primarily low-wavenumber source of scalar fluctuations with the same spectral content as the velocity field.

We limit the parameter space on the basis of dark matter abundance and direct search experiments. Further we study briefly a real scalar triplet as dark matter candidate. Then a two-component dark matter model is considered, which consists of a real scalar singlet and a scalar triplet with a Z2×Z2 symmetry. In a narrow mass range, the direct search experiments start to give some limitations.

Streszczenie:
Union approaches in relation to the global recalibration of work and employment relations and practices over the last three decades are being worked out in practice. The question for unions is by which means they either have leverage or the potential to exercise power in relation to state and corporate decisions and strategies. Unions thus face challenging questions about the ways they organize, exercise their capacities and attempt to meet their purposes. With reference to the Australian maritime sector, the study examines the ways the main union, the Maritime Union of Australia, developed multi-scalar approaches to localized events. The problem unions face is to defend and advance workers’ interests. The task is to organize, to realize their capacities to defend and advance maritime workers’ interests, increasingly in multi-scalar ways. The argument is that leaderships and activity that ‘bridge’ scalar relationships are an important condition in this process. There appears to be a complex set of cross-connections between the local, the national and the international. While transnational connectivity increasingly defines contemporary forms of trade unionism, these scalar relations are defined in relation to the workplace, the everyday world, and by the ways that transport is a defining characteristic of the global world. These relations constitute contemporary class struggle where work and employment relations are always in a process of change and development. Trade unionism, thus, remains a collective expression of power relations, in an increasingly internationalized world of work and employment. Thus, this research presents important lessons for multi-scalar organization and campaigning by unions to realize their capacities and purpose. Nonetheless, this study is only a beginning. While it indicates the processes of bridging, the next step is to investigate the variety of ways that bridging may take place and with what outcomes for the development of multi-scalar activity.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of emerging technologies in the promotion of health and well-being at the urban, domestic and bodily scale, through the systematic examination of technologies such as physical sensing systems and physiological data monitoring, that are currently explored as drivers for achieving sustainable healthcare within a multi-scalar approach. Design/methodology/approach A comprehensive study of the various technologies associated with smart healthcare is provided, first investigating smart cities, physical sensing systems and geospatial data as potential enablers of public health. Then the discourse shifts towards exploring Smart Home technologies for healthcare, first reviewing strategies of enhancing the home environment with multisensory components, and then discussing the emergence of physiological monitoring devices and their interconnection with the domestic and urban environment. Findings While the implementation of Internet of Things, physical sensing systems and geospatial analytics in extracting and analyzing the multiple information layers of the urban, the domestic and the bodily environment, has been widely explored, there is little consideration on the transition from the domestic to the urban level, and while within each of the different scales, the need for a multi-componential approach is addressed, there is minimal effort towards its materialization. Originality/value The major contribution of this study therefore lies in laying the ground for further research towards a multi-scalar relational approach that views smart healthcare as a trajectory, binding the bodily, to the domestic and the urban fabric.

In the context of Friedmann–Robertson–Walker (FRW) spacetime with zero spatial curvature, we consider a multi-scalar tensor cosmology model under the pretext of obtaining quadratic conservation laws. We propose two new interaction potentials of the scalar field. Integral to this task is the existence of dynamical Noether symmetries which are Lie–Bäcklund transformations of the physical system. Finally, analytical solutions of the field are found corresponding to each new model. In one of the models, we find that the scale factor mimics [Formula: see text]-cosmology in a special case.

A basic but expensive operation in the implementations of several famous public-key cryptosystems is the computation of the multi-scalar multiplication in a certain finite additive group defined by an elliptic curve. We propose an adaptive window method for the multi-scalar multiplication, which aims to balance the computation cost and the memory cost under register-constrained environments. That is, our method can maximize the computation efficiency of multi-scalar multiplication according to any small, fixed number of registers provided by electronic devices. We further demonstrate that our method is efficient when five registers are available. Our method is further studied in detail in the case where it is combined with the non-adjacent form (NAF) representation and the joint sparse form (JSF) representation. One efficiency result is that our method with the proposed improved NAF n-bit representation on average requires 209n/432 point additions. To the best of our knowledge, this efficiency result is optimal compared with those of similar methods using five registers. Unlike the previous window methods, which store all possible values in the window, our method stores those with comparatively high probabilities to reduce the number of required registers.

<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> This paper presents the preliminary results obtained during the 3D recording campaign carried out in 2018 by the Spanish-Uzbek IPAEB mission in the archaeological site of Termez (southern border of Uzbekistan). Ancient Termez is an important historical city within the Silk Road located in the ancient Bactria region. The archaeological work performed at the site since the beginning of the 20th century allowed a large fortified urban complex to be identified that includes other walled enclosures inside it, i.e., a Hellenistic- Seleucid fortress founded after the campaigns of Alexander the Great in the late 4th century BC, several Buddhist monastic complexes dated to the Kushan period (1st to mid-3rd centuries), and a large urban settlement dated to the Islamic period which includes the city proper or <i>shahristan</i> and the suburbs or <i>rabad</i>. After the destruction by Genghis Khan in 1220, Termez was rebuilt following a different plan. Major changes involved the movement of the pottery workshops from the <i>rabad</i> to the previous <i>shahristan</i>. The research focuses on: a) the identification, study and archaeological contextualization of ceramic production centres located in different areas of the ancient Termez from the Kushan to the Islamic period (1st to 14th centuries AD); b) the integration of the pottery workshops into the general topography of the site and c) the study of their evolution in relation to the transformation of the urban design. Since the site is currently located in a military area – close to the border area between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan –, the archaeological work is restricted to specific zones and the use of aerial devices such as drones is forbidden. However, this research requires both micro and macro spatial approaches to accurately record all the archaeological structures and to evaluate the integration and evolution of the pottery workshops into the general topography of the city. In order to fill this gap, declassified images of the CORONA satellite program were analyzed and compared to historical and archaeological data. In addition, we propose a geometrical and graphical recording and distribution system of the kilns – located in the <i>rabad</i> and the <i>shahristan</i> – and the ceramics produced and used in Termez during the period studied by means of photogrammetric techniques. The results are aimed at management through open-source 3D formats and web mapping GIS libraries combined with historical satellite information that defines the different archaeological areas.</p>

We study the evolution of non-Gaussianity in multiple-field inflationary models, focusing on three fundamental questions: (a) How is the sign and peak magnitude of the non-linearity parameter f NL related to generic features in the inflationary potential? (b) How sensitive is f NL to the process by which an adiabatic limit is reached, where the curvature perturbation becomes conserved? (c) For a given model, what is the appropriate tool – analytic or numerical – to calculate f NL at the adiabatic limit? We summarise recent results obtained by the authors and further elucidate them by considering an inflection point model.
