Pełny tekst źródłaThe Movimento dos Trablhadores e Trabalhadoras Rurais Sem Terra - MST in Brazil emerged in the eighties, thanks to the convergence of a series of socio-political conditions, which provided an environment conducive to their appearance. Although it is not the first organized movement of rural workers nor the only one fighting for land reform, its national character and its impact on Brazilian agricultural policy make him the most prominent social movement in the country. Among the many dimensions of this movement, I want to focus in the participation and expertise of women activists in the MST within the framework of relations between men and women in the struggle for land and MST agrarian reform. The thesis will discuss a key political aspect of the MST: what it means for women in the MST of Ceará militants, officials and leaders Sem Terra. We will see how women are directly involved in the struggle for land in Brazil. In addition I consider the political and ideological formation of the Movement an important part of their construction as leaders of the MST. The issue of gender in the Sem Terra Movement and the history of the struggle for land and the foundation of MST featuring women leaders in the state of Ceará, allow us to observe some differential facts of women as leaders of the Movement and their relationship with men. Ethnography is the core contribution of this research, which is based primarily on data collected during fieldwork in Ceará, Brazil, in 2000, 2003 and 2004. To the 29 interviews performed with 21 women and five men in Ceará MST, I added 11 interviews with women activists of the Movement of other states in Brazil, two interviews with members of the progressive Catholic Church and three interviews with Brazilian politicians. Ethnographic research is complemented by attendance at biennial meetings of Friends of the MST European, annual meetings of committees of the Spanish State and the 5 th National Congress of the MST in Brasilia (2007).

Pełny tekst źródła--- The Women's Leadership in organizations such as the Trade Union’s, is analyzed from the perspective of human rights and gender in the present investigation. Since its intervention in the workplace: the precarious action and its subsequent integration into the most representative trade union movement in the country, such as the General Confederation of Workers of Peru - CGTP. We traveled through 16 years of the organic life of the CGTP, making visible the labor reform of the 90’s that marks the start of labor flexibility, causing massive layoffs of workers and secondly incorporating more strongly to new actors to the world Labour: Women. This addition does not respond to public policy to equip participation and working conditions of women and men in this area and therefore bridge the gaps that support discrimination; This situation reflects the demand for cheap labor in poor working conditions, backed by labor unrest, thus losing the main feature of unionized workers or workers / as: "Job Stability." The labor reform of A. Fujimori government marks the beginning of the retreat of the state not only in its role as regulator, but also to oversight of compliance with labor standards as part of the same government specifically the December 18, 1992, nine months into the General Secretariat, Peter Huilca was killed by the Colina group, both heavy blows to the unions originate the weakening of the most visible of the Country confederation, this is reflected in the declining share of national affiliation in the decade before the nineties was approximately 21.9% and between 1995 and 2006% the percentage fluctuated between 8% and 5%. In 2003, under the direction of Juan José Gorriti, important findings were made in relation to the qualitative and quantitative participation of women, the responsibility of the Ministry of Women and Child Worker fell on Susan Portocarrero. In that same year, the organizational restructuring process starts, from Secretaries to Departments and Trade also implementing direct affiliation. The Ministry of Women and Child Workers, adopted its Manual of Organization and Functions and the First Labour Platform Gender, which was taken to the XII Congress of the CGTP in November 2006, where 7 women join the National Executive Council, and after 78 years of organic life, the first female president is elected in its history; it also chooses Gloria Perez Saavedra as the new Secretary for women, and it is from this year that the CGTP reconstituted and a new discourse centered on the struggle for restoration of democracy and rights lost, becomes more incident now called the women's Department of the CGTP, calling women on the commission structure work. Begin the theoretical and political underpinnings for developing strategy mainstreaming gender in CGTP, which translates into: women with a speech argued; tools such as union school for women and mixed for men and women develop the gender issue; visible the importance of union membership with gender; building proposals for collective bargaining rights for women in the specifications and detailed collective agreements on a work schedule of working women; promoting the participation of more women in the functional activities organized by the CGTP as National Assemblies; promoting the union agenda includes those most precarious sectors of the workplace, which are mostly made up of women. The development of planned and promoted by the women of the CN of the CGTP and the department including its working committees, had the political backing of the national leadership represented by the executive secretariat actions, so that in November 2011, arriving at XIII National Ordinary Congress proposing as its core proposal "gender quota" involving the reform of its statutes, this proposal was presented as a motion supported by the head of department and approved by the Commission number four: "Organic status and Strengthening CGTP "and later in the plenary, being willing to be ratified in the Statutory Congress. They were 16 years leading the most representative trade union confederation in the country, focusing on promotion, negotiation and approval of affirmative action that inspired the European union model applied to the Peruvian model. In these periods the collective interests of many working women is one of the main reasons for the trade union movement there were more important. From the year 2011 begins a new story written for the motion of the CGTP union on this issue.

Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis presents the discursive production on work of the women’s and feminist movement – from now on WFM –. ‘Work’ still holds a privileged position to scrutinize and deepen in the construction of fairer societies. The primary objective of this study is to enrich through a gender perspective the vision on the work system developed since the last years of the last century. The study introduces the topic by means of an analysis of the WFM’s discourses on work and gender in Spain from 1988 to 2012 as well as an historical review covering all the 20th century. The research focuses on the economic and political transformations encapsulated in the problems and demands expressed by the WFM. The majority of the approaches condensed in the diverse feminist strategies studied – inclusion, inversion and displacement – challenge the discursive hegemony that rules ‘work’ nowadays. These disputes are shown in the extension and the displacement of already consolidated interpretative frames, as well as in the intersectionality of gender with other inequality categories expressed in the agents of work and in the oppression systems – capitalism, patriarchy, racism, heteronormativity, sostenibility, amongst other-. The frames of ‘(re)organisation of time and work’, ‘life’ and ‘precarity’ are the main topics discussed in the discursive practice of the WFM. One of the most important contributions of this thesis is the triadic definition of work as any person’s activity that generates economic, human and political value. Its aim is to shed light on the political agency as an occupation that gives room to tasks necessary for the personal and public development in order to achieve a fuller experience of living. This triadic notion allows for a political action that sidesteps (labour and vital) commodification and helps to reformulate the processes of representation by including a meaningful existence. The methodology consists of discourse analysis applied on written and oral texts of the WFM. The approach unites the Critical Frame Analysis and the Critical Discourse Analysis and it allows bringing to the fore the strategic and the emotional aspects of the framing processes. It also reveals the differences between the ideology and the master frames. Moreover, it shows the diverse voices present in the discourses. Furthermore, the Discursive Opportunity Structure shapes the methodological approach of the historical review. It captures both the hegemonic discourses and the counter gender discourses and presents alliances and articulations amongst actors. The thesis takes Nancy Fraser’s theory of justice (1997; 2006; 2008) in order to analyse the discourses of the WFM on work. The research concludes that fairer and more equal societies require transformations of the economic, the political and the human sphere that would take the three crucial justice dimensions of redistribution, recognition and representation into account. The majority of the feminist strategies challenge positions fixed to the ruling sexist mercantile rationality, they identify new problems and propose innovative solutions. They put forward options that combine state management with horizontality, people’s participation and communitarian action. Moreover, the WFM provides an agent that overcomes the universal hegemonic ‘worker’. Such agent results from the recognition of care, domestic and political work and from intersectional elements. Finally, the thesis affirms the complexity of formal/established representation of the WFM in the field of work. In many cases, this representation can be stated as a failure.

Pełny tekst źródłaThis doctoral thesis aims at disclosing the history of women’s committees and associations in the industrial belt of Barcelona. These committees and associations emerged toward the end of the Franco dictatorship and the beginning of the democratic transition in the intersection between two of the main social movements of the period, namely, the feminist movement and the neighbourhood associations. The analysis of the ethnography I collected required the combined approach of feminist anthropology and the inquirí into the reason and purpose of memory. Articulating these two perspectives meant giving back the voice to those women in working class neighbourhoods who had lead the social movements, the voices of the historical actors, articulated, nonetheless, in the present. This thesis is based on interviews and historical documents. The interviews consist of crossed biographical memories, I have interviewed women who, between 1975 and 1990, had been part of territorial women’s associations and men who had been members of the neighbourhood associations. I interviewed a total of 26 persons, 23 of them women and three men, who had been politically active in the neighbourhoods in the industrial periphery of Barcelona. The main contribution of this thesis as regards the social movement composed of women’s committees in neighbourhood associations as well as independent women’s associations in the neighbourhoods is the systematic analysis of the experience understood as the movement as a whole. This approach allows for discovering the distinct strategies, alliance and conflicts that emerged as well as those traits which these movements shared with other contemporary organizactions. By challenging the conventional dissociation between the personal and the political the activists in the neighbourhoods were able to open up new spaces for feminists debate and intervention and begin questioning in depth both relationship and desires. Feminist activism allowed these women to occupy space which had been closed to them earlier. They thus developed new forms of activism, acquired new abilities and built through their shared experiences and debate new notions of being women. These novelties were not, however, exempt of contradictions and they influenced the conquest of women’s rights and the transformation of social habits which had entailed their subordination. Several of the women I interviewed are active now in recovering these memories, inspired by the concern to safeguard feminist achievements in view of the more general curtailment of rights and in particular the loss of social and political rights that had been conquered by women. Memory in a context of this kind becomes social and political action inspired by the desire to transmit this legacy to the new generations. The ability to achieve social change by means of collective organization plays a central role in this legacy. This thesis emphasises the originality and relevance of the women’s movement in the working class neighbourhoods which allowed for the spread of feminism.
