Streszczenie:
1·1. Groups of the first kind. In [11], Patterson proved a hyperbolic space analogue of Khintchine's theorem on simultaneous Diophantine approximation. In order to state Patterson's theorem, some notation and terminology are needed. Let ‖x‖ denote the usual Euclidean norm of a vector x in k+1, k + 1-dimensional Euclidean space, and let be the unit ball model of k + 1-dimensional hyperbolic space with Poincaré metric ρ. A non-elementary geometrically finite group G acting on Bk + 1 is a discrete subgroup of Möb (Bk+l), the group of orientation preserving Mobius transformations preserving Bk + 1, for which there exists some convex fundamental polyhedron with finitely many faces. Since G is non-elementary, the limit set L(G) of G – the set of limit points in the unit sphere Sk of any orbit of G in Bk+1 – is uncountable. The group G is said to be of the first kind if L(G) = Sk and of the second kind otherwise.

AbstractIn this paper, for a non-compact Riemman surface S homeomorphic to either: the Infinite Loch Ness monster, the Cantor tree and the Blooming Cantor tree, we give a precise description of an infinite set of generators of a Fuchsian group Γ < PSL(2, ℝ), such that the quotient space ℍ/Γ is a hyperbolic Riemann surface homeomorphic to S. For each one of these constructions, we exhibit a hyperbolic polygon with an infinite number of sides and give a collection of Mobius transformations identifying the sides in pairs.

The construction of circuits for the evolution of orbits and reduced quadratic irrational numbers under the action of Mobius groups have many applications like in construction of substitution box (s-box), strong-substitution box (s.s-box), image processing, data encryption, in interest for security experts, and other fields of sciences. In this paper, we investigate the behavior of reduced quadratic irrational numbers (RQINs) in the coset diagrams of the set Q ′ ′ m = η / s : η ∈ Q ∗ m , s = 1 , 2 under the action of group H = < x ′ , y ′ : x ′ 2 = y ′ 4 = 1 > , where m is square free integer and Q ∗ m = a ′ + m / c ′ , a ′ , a ′ 2 − m / c ′ c ′ = 1 , c ′ ≠ 0 . We discuss the type and reduced cardinality of the orbit Q ′ ′ p . By using the notion of congruence, we give the general form of reduced numbers (RNs) in particular orbits under certain conditions on prime p . Further, we classify that for a reduced number r whether − r , r ¯ , − r ¯ lying in orbit or not. AMS Mathematics subject classification (2010): 05C25, 20G401.

Streszczenie:
This paper reports a preliminary survey of one of humanity's most historic harbors--Alexandria, Egypt. It constitutes one phase of a broader joint land/sea examination of the largest and most famous city to bear Alexander the Great's name. The research overall had two goals: 1) to resolve locational uncertainties concerning the city's past configuration, particularly its Ptolemaic antecedents; and 2) to compare electronic remote sensing survey technologies with Remote Viewing generally, and the applications methodology developed by the Mobius Groups specifically. In the area of the Eastern Harbor, the aim of the research was: 1) the location of the ancient shore line; the locaton of and predictive description of several sites including the island of Antirrhodus and the Emporium/Poseidium/Timonium complex; a palace complex associated with Cleopatra; and a further elaboration, both in terms of location and predictive description, of the Pharos lighthouse area; 2) a comparison of Remote Viewing and side scan sonar data after each approach had surveyed the same area. This paper describes the probable location of the Emporium, the Poseidium, and the Timonium, the palace complex of Cleopatra, the island of Antirrhodus, a site at the tip of Fort Sisila (known prevously as Point Lochias), new discoveries pertaining to the lighthouse, andd an associated temple. The most important discovery though is the identification and location of the ancient seawall which extends some 65 meters farther out into the harbor than was previously suspected, and whoe location resolves a key piece in the puzzle of the ancient city's layout. The discoveries reported here were principally the result of Remote Viewing. Except for one clear "hit," side scan sonar proved unproductive because of the large amount of particulate in the water.

Streszczenie:
Despite the tendency for Victorian performers to be credited with increasing respectability and middle-class status and for actors to receive the highest official commendations, the popular association between actresses and prostitutes and belief in actresses' inappropriate sexual conduct endured throughout the nineteenth century. In the United States, religious fundamentalism accounts for much of the prejudice, but in Great Britain, where puritanical influences were not as influential on the theatre, other factors helped to preserve the derogatory view of actresses. In certain times and places actresses did have real links with the oldest of all ‘women's professions’, but the notion that the dual identity of Roman dancers or the exploits of some Restoration performers justify the popular association between actresses and prostitutes in the Victorian era is patently insufficient. The notion persisted throughout the nineteenth century because Victorians recognized that acting and whoring were the occupations of self-sufficient women who plied their trades in public places, and because Victorians believed that actresses' male colleagues and patrons inevitably complicated transient lifestyles, economic insecurity, and night hours with sexual activity. In the spirit of Gilbert and Gubar's axiom that experience generates metaphor and metaphor creates experience, the actress and the prostitute were both objects of desire whose company was purchased through commercial exchange. While patrons bought the right to see them, to project their fantasies on them, and to denigrate and misrepresent their sexuality, both groups of women found it necessary constantly to sue for men's attention and tolerate the false imagery. Their similarities were reinforced by coexistence in neighbourhoods and work places where they excited and placated the playgoer's lust in an eternal loop, twisted like a Mobius strip into the appearance of a single surface.

Streszczenie:

Most current research on Mobile Ad-hoc NETworks (MANETs) concerns one ad-hocnetwork at a time. A common topic is how to handle the merging of new nodesappearing in range of an existing MANET into a new, larger network. CurrentMANET implementations do not define the handling of policies for controllingmembership or routing messages, neither do they support policy-based inter-MANETrouting.

In this thesis, we present an implementation of Mobile Group Protocol (MGP) whichenhances the reactive routing protocol AODV with an administrative framework inwhich Mobile Ad-hoc NETwork (MANET) policies are defined. Such policies are usedto control membership and signaling in a MANET. We define new roles for theMANET members such as nodes, leaders and gateways. We discuss the messageexchange taking place during forming of Mobile Groups (MGs) and study the theparticular implementation by simulating a group of simple MGP scenarios usingNetwork Simulator 2 (NS-2).

We conclude our work by discussing the using of MGP as a base for an inter-MANETrouting protocol providing policy-based routing in MANETs.

With the development of offshore activities, the costs of maintenance and monitoring of offshore plants in terms of crew members, boats, and money have greatly increased and are still growing dramatically. This encouraged the development of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV). These are still very expensive because of the numerous high-end sensors they need to embark on to accomplish their missions. Thus their number is relatively low. Therefore research is made to develop low-cost AUVs that could be produced in a larger amount to perform the same missions. This thesis comes within the scope of this research field. One of the main problems when dealing with AUVs is the localisation of the vehicle which will be the one addressed throughout this work. To tackle it, we present a new guaranteed integration method, which is more robust to the uncertainties on the initial condition than the ones currently available, based on Lie symmetries. This method is first presented through different simple theoretical examples. We then apply it to a localisation problem in a robotic context

Consensus and group key management are fundamental problems in the design of dependable systems. Ln this thesis, we propose a new protocol that solves the consensus problem in an asynchronous mobile environment prone to failures and disconnections. Then, we use this solution to develop a new non-blocking atomic commitment protocol for mobile transactions and to build a group communication service for mobile hosts. We elaborated a state of the art on group key management protocols. This comparative study points out a new group key management approach based on group characteristics. This approach enhances the performance of group key management protocols. We also propose a new fault-tolerant group key management protocol that uses failure detectors to increase the number of participants to the key establishment process

Streszczenie:
This thesis concerns the invention, improvisation, and right to ownership of the punk patent and questions the contention, put by the band’s manager, Malcolm McLaren, and other commentators, that the Sex Pistols and English punk were a Situationist prank. This challenge to what, in the majority of punk literature, has become an ‘accepted truth’ was first raised by McLaren’s nemesis, the band’s lead singer, John Lydon. McLaren and Lydon did agree that the London punk movement took its inspiration from the anarchic and chaotic energies of the eighteenth–century London mob. This common crowd could switch instantly and unpredictably from a passive state to an anarchic, violent and destructive mob, or ‘King Mob’: one that turned all authority on its head in concerted, but undirected, acts of misrule. Through his own improvisation with punk tropes, Lydon came to embody English punk and functioned, on the one hand, as a natural mob leader; and on the other, as a focus for the mob’s anger. I argue that, in following McLaren’s reduction of the Sex Pistols to a Situationistinspired prank, one of the earliest and most influential analyses of the punk phenomenon, Greil Marcus’s Lipstick Traces: A Secret History of the Twentieth Century, misunderstood how fundamental the culture and semiotics of the London mob was to McLaren, Lydon, the Sex Pistols and the performance of London punk. I take seriously, then, the idea that the cultural signifiers the Sex Pistols drew upon to make their punk performances, and which accounted in no small way for their ability to ‘outrage’, were exclusively British and unique to London’s cultural topography and the culture of the London crowd. After the implosion of the Sex Pistols on their 1978 American tour, with Lydon quitting in disgust, McLaren attempted to take ownership of the punk legacy: both actually, through attempting to assert his copyright over the Sex Pistols’ brand; and symbolically through re-writing the Sex Pistols’ story in his 1980 movie The Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindle. Curiously, and most notably, the mob is foregrounded in the film through its opening sequence, which draws heavily from the events of the Gordon Riots in 1780. This thesis contests the paradigm put in place by McLaren’s version of events as portrayed in The Great Rock ‘n’ Roll Swindle and reconsiders punk as a cultural object trouve. In particular, I consider literary influences on its protagonists: Graham Greene on John Lydon and Charles Dickens and J. M. Barrie on Malcolm McLaren.

Streszczenie:
This doctoral thesis examines different attributes of large scale group communication systems such as scalability, security and mobility by studying two different prototype systems - mIR (multicast Interactive Radio) and MES (Mobile E-meeting Services). mIR is a system for large scale real-time music distribution, designed as an interactive radio system for the Internet. MES is a collection of tools for improving the use of e-meeting and video conferencing tools in a mobile environment. The mIR prototype has been used to study scalability and security. Scalability in mIR concerns how to support as many users as possible without degrading the experience. This is achieved using IP multicast together with algorithms that limits the bandwidth usage regardless of the number of users. The work on security have focused on copy prevention through digital watermarking. By adding a unique watermark, i.e. a fingerprint, to each media copy a pirated copy can be traced back to a specific user, which can act as a deterrent. The thesis shows how we can combine the different goals of fingerprinting and IP-multicast while still maintaining the scalability features of multicast. Many issues need to be considered if e-meetings and video conferencing will become widespread and popular. Scalability and security, discussed in the first part of the thesis are two examples, and the second part of the thesis tries to address a third issue: mobility. In particular we are interested in enabling access to an e-meeting in a mobile environment, where we often have difficult conditions such as bad network connections, the user only have access to the Internet through a web browser or the available devices are small and limited. In many cases it is currently impossible to participate in an e-meeting when you're not in the office. The prototype system developed in the second part of the thesis aims to enable participation from any location and device that have some sort of Internet connection. We try to achieve this by allowing a mobile user to access an e-meeting session from a web browser or from a Java enabled mobile phone. Further, the system makes it possible to review missed events in an e-meeting as it is likely that there are many times where no Internet connection at all is available. The general style of work has been prototype driven with a goal of creating usable prototypes - i.e. the prototypes should be easy to deploy and it should be possible to use and test the prototypes daily. Most the prototypes described in this thesis have indeed been deployed and have seen daily use.

Streszczenie:
A fundamental issue in the development of mobile agent systems is how to provide support for agent applications reliability. For some agent applications areas (such as electronic commerce or workflow) it is fundamental that mobile agent executions are fault tolerant and exhibit transactional semantics or that groups of mobile agents can coordinate their activities with the use of a reliable communication mechanism. This paper discusses reliability requirements in agent systems and introduces mobile process groups as a suitable underlying concept for fulfilling these requirements. Mobile process groups are an extension of the concept of groups in traditional group communication systems that supports mobility of group members.

Streszczenie:
An efficient real time path planning method for groups of mobile robots in dynamic environments is introduced. Harmonic potential functions are utilized along with the panel method known in fluid mechanics. First, a complement to the traditional panel method is introduced to generate a more effective harmonic potential field for obstacle avoidance in dynamically changing environments. Second, a group of mobile robots working in an environment containing stationary and moving obstacles is considered. Each robot is assigned to move from its current position to a goal position. The group is not forced to maintain a formation during the motion. Every robot considers the other robots of the group as moving obstacles and hence the physical dimensions of the robots are also taken into account. The path of each robot is planned based on the changing position of the other robots and the position of stationary and moving obstacles. Finally, the effectiveness of the scheme is shown by modeling groups of an arbitrary number of mobile robots and the theory is validated by several computer simulations and hardware experiments.

Technology has helped learners with their pronunciation at the moment of conveying a message, making it easier for them of English to communicate better. Hence, this research was conducted, with the objective to establish to analyze the relationship between the English Pronunciation mobile app in the pronunciation of the English language of students of third level from CTT de los Andes Language Center. To achievethe objectives, a mixed approach methodology was used, which included thirty students divided into two groups. One group was experimental, in which the strategy was applied and the other was controlled, in which the strategy was not applied. Both groups were evaluated using a rubric from the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for the pre-test and post-test. After the pre-test, an introductory class to phonemes was given to the students. The next step for the experimental group was to get instructions on how to use the mobile app, which helped users with the recognition, awareness and production of English sounds. The development of this study showed that using the mobile app English pronunciation IPA benefits the improvement of the pronunciation from students of the experimental group. After the time period of the experiment, the segmental features of pronunciation used by students, were reinforced with the use of the mobile app.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be used to improve the efficiency of searching for missing people and vehicles in the natural environment. However, the use of UAVs alone may not be enough. To get a tangible effect, the authors of the article are developing a software package that includes a neural network core for processing images from UAVs, a web interface for the coordinator of the search operation and a mobile application for members of search groups working on the ground. The article substantiates the importance of the visualization subsystem for the software package being developed. The data output for the coordinator of the search operation and the participants of the search groups working on the ground are systematized. The following types of data are highlighted: information about the search area and the search targets; information about the image sets from flights and about image analysis; information about the participants of the search operation; information about the progress of the search operation; data about the search operation for a member of the search group; data on the results of search operations. Approaches to visualization of the listed data are described, interface elements for their visualization are selected and developed. Improvements to the software package are proposed and implemented considering the requirements for visualization.

Streszczenie:
Some students learn in virtual collaborative groups; some students learn better in mobile collaborative groups and some students learn in classroom-based collaborative groups. Nonetheless, still there is a group of students who claims not to have time for studying; who have lots of hours travelling and not internet connection. Students learn differently, and if teachers teach in a lot of different ways, they will help more students. Students not only learn in traditional class lectures, but they learn in ubiquitous collaborative activities. While traditional classes consist of little opportunities for collaborative activities, ubiquitous classes consist of permanent, accessible, immediate, interactive and flexible approach notes and activities that can be made at "anytime","anyhow" and "anywhere". This research study aimed to observe the effect of the collaborative activities that students can make "everywhere", "anytime" and "anyhow" on their collaborative success. For this purpose, two groups of the third form students in Cyprus, ages between 19 and 22 attained to two different educations (Traditional Education and Ubiquitous Education) for 5 months. The groups consisted of 50 students each. First group attained to lectures and buzz groups activities in class, and as a difference, from the traditional classroom learning; the information was available to the ubiquitous group of students even when they are driving a car. Ubiquitous group students had several choices: attaining offline courses, attaining online asynchronous courses, listening the lectures from the radio; or attaining to ubiquitous buzz group activities. The result was a lot better than expected. The students who attained to ubiquitous collaborative activities were more self-confident and more successful than the students who have attained to traditional activities.

Streszczenie:
Inequality in access to high-quality education can hinder the ability of education to promote intergenerational mobility. Looking at the case of Colombia, one of the most unequal and least mobile countries in Latin America, we evaluate whether contemporary differences in access to high-quality education have deep roots in the past. We use several past and contemporary sources to define social status attributes for several historical groups. Assuming that sufficiently rare surnames are part of the same extended family, we trace dynasties of indigenous, encomenderos (Spaniard colonial officers), 19th century slave-owners, and members of different educational, social, and business elites of the 17th, late 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. Using microdata from administrative sources, we provide evidence of social segregation in education and test if the historical status of each social group is associated with access to disadvantageous or privileged educational institutions. The results show that the original social status of the historical groups is highly associated with their contemporary performance in educational outcomes. We explore assortative mating as a mechanism for perpetuating segregation in education. We find evidence of homogamy within the historical elites and ethnic surnames. We conclude that the educational system in Colombia reproduces patterns of social exclusion rooted in the past.

Streszczenie:
Using of new learning and IC technologies is necessary for effective learning of modern students. Their specific educational needs are: using of mobile ICTs, collaboration, challenging tasks and entertainment. Appropriate learning environment should be created to satisfy all these demands. It ought to deal with cloud-based technologies (for 24/7 access, individual and group work according to a personal schedule), augmented reality (for creating of firm links between real and virtual objects), content and language integrated learning (for immersion in an additional language and creation challenging groups and personal tasks in language and non-language subjects). Using these technologies in complex provides social and ICT mobility and creates positive conditions for developing 9 of 10 key competencies. The paper deals with the features, problems and benefits of technologies’ implementation in secondary schools. To sum up, in spite of all difficulties, this environment helps students to get some practical experience in using foreign languages and understanding abstract nature concepts; to develop language and research competencies and to remain motivated (and self-motivated) in learning Science and English.
