It was a universal conviction among the leaders of the ancient church that vocational ministry is attended by certain spiritual hazards that threaten to undo the very soul of the minister. This notion is revived in William Paley’s 1795 sermon, “Dangers Incidental to the Clerical Character.” The pastoral ministry, he warns, is comprised of “dangers inherent to the very nature of our profession.” In this ordination sermon, Paley not only identifies certain spiritual hazards, but he traces their roots to the unique context and responsibilities of daily ministry. A close reading of Paley’s sermon highlights its clear relevance to ministers in the twenty-first century, who, like all ministers throughout the history of the church, are constantly exposed to the spiritual dangers lurking in ministry itself. Such a close reading also reveals practical means by which today’s minister can be constantly vigilant to overcome these dangers.

Theological shorthand is expressed through the words: relationships, like Jesus, being there, and time and journey. These words articulate a complex and nuanced practice that carry and communicate the Gospel and faith of youth ministers amongst young people. When examined, the practice of youth ministers resonate with echoes of theology from the Christian tradition, yet this is not overtly expressed. The theological shorthand articulation can be seen as ‘thin’ theology, with practice based on being like Jesus and the youth minister as symbol. Current youth ministry practice can be seen to be guided by the normative voice of the literature on youth ministry. Through these, practice has the potential to be limited theologically and risks un-tethering youth ministry from the church and wider Christian tradition.

AbstractWhat does it mean to be created in the imago dei? Are all created in God's image? To whom should the Spirit-filled Church minister? Contemporary Pentecostal/Charismatic practical theology seems obsessed with cultural relevance and worldly success that is often keyed to a particular pre-packaged program rather than to God's creational and redemptive concerns. In answering the questions about God's creation, God's image, and true Spirit-led ministry, this article will point the Pentecostal/Charismatic Church to the biblical witness that calls for ministry to all people in all states of their creation. Spirit led laity and professional ministers can resist compliance with popular ministry models of 'success' and find ways to develop a practical theology that includes ministry to all for whom Christ died as the Spirit leads and empowers. The Spirit of God still hovers over God's creation. If that is true, then those who are mentally and physically challenged must be included in the life of the local church. People afflicted with debilitating illnesses cannot be excluded. Those who have been broken by caring for disabled or ill family members must be remembered. As a local Pentecostal/Charismatic Church develops a Spirit-led practical theology, the members may imagine a different way of 'doing ministry' from popular models of success. Instead, as the Spirit of God still hovers over all creation, local Spirit-filled lay leaders and professional ministers can courageously and sacrificially minister to all created in the imago dei.

The Word became Flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:1-14). This Word is named Jesus Christ (Matt 1:21; Luke 1:31; 2:21). He took flesh and dwelt among us for the salvation of mankind (Matt. 1:21b). From the beginning, Jesus knew that the work of salvation has to go on from generation to generation and thus called people who would assist him to propagate the message even when he is no longer there physically. He thus selected disciples and out of the disciples he selected twelve ordinary men named apostles whose names and ministry appear in Matthew 10:2- 26. This shows that Jesus Christ is the one who calls, the one who owns the ministry, and the one who will reward each according to his or her contribution and based on the quality of the contributions. The greatest problem today is that some ministers have forgotten that the ministry does not belong to them and have no reason at all to quarrel with one another but should see one another as collaborators in Christ's ministry. Secondly, some people of God have forgotten that every minister has God-given talent which should not warrant them to be involved in a personality cult that is, preferring one minister over another or even preferring a minister to Jesus. This paper aims at explaining again who a minister is, how he should see his fellow minister, and how he should see Jesus Christ. The work adopts the Historical-Critical Method (HCM) as well as Textual Criticism (TC) to unravel the inner meaning of 1 Cor. 3:1-15. HCM is a branch of criticism that investigates the origins of ancient texts in order to understand the world behind the text – 1 Cor. 3:1-15. In the same way, TC was used so as to get to the original wording of the text as was written by Paul. The writer discovers that some ministers have forgotten their roles, their relationship with their fellow ministers, and with Jesus Christ, the owner of the ministry. The paper recommends, among other things, that there should be the adequate formation of candidates going into the ministry as priests as well as constant catechesis on the part of members of the Church, especially, on the nature of the Church. This will enable us to avoid unnecessary rivalry in the Church. As a matter of policy, this should be started as soon as a child reaches the age of reasoning. Hence, the saying, “catch them young.” Significantly, this work will be of immense benefit to all the members of the Church as well as her ministers.

As the Song of Songs relates in chapters two and three, the bride finds herself alone, out of the presence of her love. This causes great consternation and she determines that she must have him, so she goes to search for him. In the same way, the loss of the wild abandoned pursuit of our divine Lover results in burnout in ministry. The thrust of this article is not to further discuss the widely recognized idea that burnout in ministry does occur, but rather to dissect burnout in the stages in which it occurs as well as the areas that it affects the minister, and then to recognize it in its earliest forms so that the loss of fire for God is not the end result of the flames the minister encounters in minishy. Included in this article is a discussion of theology regarding the "indispensability complex" that many ministers often receive from the continuing expectations of their church or ministry, as well as a discussion of handling times of darkness in the minister's life and fanning into flame the passion for our Lover, which is the source of all energy in the ministry.

The basic referencial of the ministry is the episcopate. Assuming that theological reflection is an integral dimension of the decision making process involved in shaping acts of pastoral ministry, this article explores Bowen Family Systems Theory (BFST) as a resource for ministers engaged in such reflection. A case study of a ministry situation of a pastor in a heterogeneous inner city congregation serves to illustrate the dual contribution BFST can make to a minister's ability to do this essential work. In the first place, the theory serves as a personal resource for the minister seeking to assume the non-reactive stance necessary for any attempt to understand more clearly the dynamics involved in a ministry situation. Closely related to this is the capacity of the theory's conceptual framework to provide an accurate and in-depth understanding of the often unrecognized but always determinative emotional process present in a situation. Enabling ministers to “see” these systemic dynamics is the unique contribution BFST can make to the first step, description, in John Macquarrie's three-dimensional methodology for doing theological reflection and, therefore, to the last two steps, interpretation and application. All three dimensions of Macquarrie's methodology are identified. The article also examines some of the possible causes for the frequent absence of theological reflection from the practice of ministry.

In York Monthly Meeting, women ministers were to become dominant by the end of the eighteenth century, having been outnumbered by men since the beginning of the century. The Meeting for Ministers and Elders appears to have degenerated between 1726 and 1768 under the stewardship of Nathaniel Bell and Daniel Peacock. At the same time, female influence in the Meeting suffered a hiatus, the Meeting ceasing to send female representatives to the Quarterly Meeting in about 1718. This situation continued until 1783, when women once again began to feature strongly in the Meeting of Ministers and Elders; they were appointed to the positions of elder and minister and resumed sending representatives to Quarterly Meetings. From 1706 to 1775, York Meeting had 7 male ministers, of whom 4 were itinerant. There were 5 female ministers; 3 made more than one journey in the ministry. From 1775 to 1860 there were 11 male ministers, 2 being itinerant. There were 20 female ministers, of whom 11 made regular journeys in the ministry.

Based on the Government Regulation of the of Indonesia Number 21 of 2020, Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). The Ministry of Health is authorized to make technical regulations. Minister of Health made Minister of Health Regulation Number 9 of 2020, PSBB. Seems like the synergy between the Ministries hasn’t been implemented properly, ex. the Ministry of Law and Human Rights published Regulation of The Ministry of Law and Human Rights Number 10 of 2020 and The Ministry of Transportation with their Regulation Minister of Transportation Number 18 of 2020 changed to Regulation of Minister of Transportation 41 of 2020. The regulations contradict with the Minister of Health a quo regulation. Which regulation should be used? Who’s responsible for it? It’s necessary to review synchronization between Ministry regulations. This research used Normative Juridical, Literature Study, Interview, and Analysis Method. A brief conclusion if there’s a lawsuit against the a quo regulation then the responsibility lies with the Ministry of Health. Disharmonization between ministerial regulations can be resolved by Judicial Review, Mediation by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and applying the principles of Lex Superior Derogat Legi Inferiori, Lex Specialis Derogat Legi Generalis, and Lex Posterior Derogat Legi Priori Principles.

To increase the alignment between the lives of ministers serving congregations and what seminary professors think that congregational ministry is like, this study used qualitative methods to examine the themes voiced by seminary professors and graduates in ministry at five Protestant seminaries in the United States. There was some agreement about key themes in the lifeworld of ministers. However, there was little agreement between professors and graduates in ministry about which themes were most influential. Findings point to opportunities for seminaries to create ways to take seriously the experiences of ministers.

In recent times, news of financial misappropriations of some ministers of the gospel in some churches puts a question on the financial integrity of the ‘holy men and women of God.’ It is believed that the life of a minister is the life of his ministry. Integrity in the New Testament context means soundness, purity, honesty, and adherence to a pattern of good works. Integrity is a crucial matter especially, in these days when pastoral scandals seem to become rampant and some ministers of the gospel are abusing the true nature of the pulpit ministry through their lifestyle and messages. In the mission of Paul, he exhibited a good character of financial integrity which could be a good model for the contemporary ministers of the gospel. Therefore, the crux of this paper is to appraise the financial integrity of Paul in his mission as a model for contemporary gospel ministers. The paper makes use of exegetical and historical-critical methods in order to have a holistic understanding of Paul’s financial integrity in his mission. The paper concludes with useful lessons for contemporary gospel ministers.

This article aims to understand the work of the Holy Spirit in placing church ministers. The Holy Spirit reveals His work in placing church servants to develop ministry. However, based on this research, the author found several things that are of concern to a church minister. In Ex. 18:14-27 Jethro also asked Moses to appoint several people who could help him in leading God's chosen people. Likewise, what was experienced by the apostles in their ministry after they received the power of the Holy Spirit to preach the Gospel and convert many souls was recorded in Acts 2:41 as approximately three thousand souls; this figure is not a small number of souls who want to be served the truth. The work of the Holy Spirit enables church ministers to serve the congregation in terms of teaching God's Word. All of this happened inseparable from the work of the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit also enabled the apostles to determine according to predetermined criteria; namely, people must be filled with the Holy Spirit, wise, and willing to suffer for the truth. Hopefully, this article can help to understand and understand the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers in carrying out the church's tri-tasks in terms of ministry.

Number One Wisma Putra celebrates more than half a century of service to Malaysia by the country’s Foreign Service. Its humble origins date back to July 1956 as External Affairs Ministry of the then Federation of Malaya, before Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj became the first Minister of Foreign Affairs in September 1957 - only ten days after independence from Britain. Today, No. 1 Wisma Putra happens to be the address of the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the country’s new administrative capital, Putrajaya, which is only a short drive south of Kuala Lumpur, where the Ministry had its beginnings. As pointed out in the foreword by Malaysia’s former Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who from 1991 to 1999 served also as the country’s foreign minister, ‘Wisma Putra’ is the popular non-official name for the Ministry, thus fondly remembering its founder Tunku Abdul Rahman, the ‘Father of Malaysia’s Independence’.

This paper aims to explain that the implementation of School Health Unit (UKS/M) policy in pesantren based education institution in Banyuwangi Regency is not ideal with what is stated in the decision of 4 Ministers (SKB 4 Ministers) namely Minister of Health, Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Education and Culture, and the Minister of Home Affairs on the development and development of School Health Unit (UKS/M). This research is a descriptive research taken from qualitative data in the form of field observation, interview, and documentation as the material of analysis, so that writer can find important findings. 1) implementation of the School Health Unit (UKS/M) trias in schools under the auspices of pesantren cottages most of them have not been properly implemented; 2) coordination of the 4 elements of the ministry has not been well established; 3) the absence of adequate human resources such as not understanding their duties and obligations, the financial resources of the state budget has not been realized, and equipment resources (facilities required) is not complete even there are schools that do not have at all; 4) the willingness for the implementation of UKS/M from the four elements of the ministry is still in the form of planning; 5) the organizational structure of the UKS/M facilitation team from the 4 ministries has not been established; 6) the implementation of coaching and development of UKS/M is only done by the health department only.

Humans, on average, are believed to have the capacity to sustain approximately 150 personal relationships due to social-cognitive limits and time available for relationship investment (Dunbar, 1993). The consequences of attempting to exceed this relational limit have not been investigated. Yet relational-style ministry workers face pressure to increase their number of personal relationships. It is likely that attempting to exceed this relational limit leads to distress. Therefore, relational ministers exceeding typical social network sizes were predicted to experience higher levels of burnout and lower levels of ministry effectiveness. For this study, two hundred thirty-seven relational ministers completed self-report measures. Multiple hierarchical regressions indicated that while total network size was not a significant predictor of outcome variables, nuanced differences among networks predicted burnout and ministry effectiveness. Above average numbers of intimate, high-investment relationships predicted smaller overall network sizes, and subgroups of more intimate relationships may have optimal size ranges that contribute to personal well-being.

The latter are not individually represented in the mechanism of the state apparatus. Nowadays they include: the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Protecting Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and local state administrations. It has been established that the latter are represented at all levels of executive power: higher, central and local. Some of them are agencies of general competence, while others are sectoral. Most of them are presented in the form of single-governing agencies; some are presented in the form of collegial ones. It has been additionally determined that the executive authorities in the field of scientific, scientific and technical activities in Ukraine are part of the group of governing agencies of social development and culture. The author has offered own classification of executive agencies in the field of scientific, scientific and technical activity in Ukraine depending on whether the function of management of the field of science and technology is basic or optional for them. According to this criterion, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is assigned to the first category, all others – to the second group.

ABSTRACTThe purpose of the ministerial structures of the Church is to establish a context by which Christians continue and complete Christ's ministry. Ordained ministers ought to facilitate this in such a way as to collaborate effectively with God in the establishment of the Kingdom. A consideration of the Church's tradition, beginning with Scripture and continuing in its life of faith, suggests that no single form of ministry is normative. The ordination of Christians who make a long-term commitment to what the Church may legitimately recognize as ministry would enhance the Church's life and celebrate the sacramental character of that ministry. Consonant with Gaudium et spes the Church should abandon the distinction between secular and sacred ministry and recognize the sacramental character of ministry wherever it is practiced. Sacramental ordination to ministry is the specification and concretization of Christians' baptismal commitment.

And certainly there is good reason to examine the subject of ministry in terms of sign-value, if not in terms of ‘sacramentality’. But the question is being asked, shyly by some and more stridently by others: We can see what ministers represent, we can even see the sign-value of bishops, but what are they supposed to do?

The problem of reforming the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Empire in the beginning of XX century was widely highlighted in historical literature. However, the role of N.V. Charykov is covered very briefly. Since he was the chairman of the council on the reform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it seemed necessary to explore his ideas and role in this transformative direction. He became the head of the council on the reform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after he had an appointment to a deputy minister of Foreign Affairs. It happened after A.P. Izvolsky (N.V. Charykovs friend and classmate at Imperial Alexander Lyceum) had become a foreign minister. N.V. Charykov denotes that A.P. Izvolsky invited him to become the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs. All the legal affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were transferred under authority of N.V. Charykov by A.P. Izvolsky. N.V. Charykov took up his post as the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs and was the head of the council on the reform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, implemented thoughtful and meticulous work. He could establish coordination among the actions of all the departments from which the reform was dependent on. Furthermore, he believed in the necessity of changing the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, linking it to the need to increase funding. Besides, he stood out for maintaining diplomatic correspondence in Russian instead of French. The important point was a democratization of the diplomatic exam on the one hand and an increase of the level of educational requirements for candidates on the other.

This article seeks to contribute to the reflection on ecclesial ministry from the perspective of the missio Dei. The gateway chosen is the unconventional image of ecclesial ministry as depicted in the Polish film Corpus Christi. Jan Komasa, the director, paints the protagonist as a facilitator of a communal process of interpretation and reconciliation through which the core of the gospel becomes concretely visible in social reality. This cinematographic portrayal of ecclesial ministry is then used to look at the situation regarding ministry in a small Reformed denomination in the Netherlands. The issues highlighted in Corpus Christi also play a role in these churches. To see if the imagination of Corpus Christi can also be made fruitful for thinking through Reformed theology of ministry, two steps are then taken. First, it will be shown that within the Reformed tradition there are starting points for the view of the ordained minister as a facilitator the process of interpretation. Then, using the thoughts of Michael Moynagh, the article explores how this vision of ministry can be made fruitful for the current missionary situation in the West. The article concludes with three elements needed to implement the image of the ordained minister as an interpretive guide.

The article is devoted to the history of state statistical institutions formation in Russia in the first quarter of the 19th century. In that period, the government gradually came to understand the statistics role in public administration, and yet varying views of the leading statesmen on the goals of administrative statistics resulted in long search for optimal configuration of the statistical agency. Exponents of opposite approaches were the Minister of Police A. D. Balashev and Minister of Internal Affairs V. P. Kochubey. The full text of Balashev’s project “On the statistical institution,” submitted in 1819 for the Committee of Ministers consideration, is being published for the first time, as well as Kochubey’s opinion on the issue. It is noted that Balashev's project encapsulated his ongoing efforts to create the statistical dDepartment of the Ministry of Police, the first body of administrative statistics in Russia. The department was established in 1810 with participation of the Academy of Sciences member, statistician Karl F. Herman. Later, the structure of the department was improved, the problems of staffing and funding solved. The initial ministry staff did not allow for the creation of a separate statistical body, and its activities were regulated only by intra-ministerial instructions. New administrative reform of 1819, when the Ministry of Police merged with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, called into question the future of administrative statistics in Russia. Balashev lost his ministerial post. The status of the statistical department, created as an intra-ministerial experiment, was undefined. In the circumstances, Balashev attempted to preserve the statistical department, formalizing its place in the central administration structure; he sent his proposals to the Committee of Ministers. Balashev's project raised issues of centralization of statistical research (which remains relevant up to date) and proposed to secure the statistical agency’s independent status. He also put forward an idea of involving the scientific community in statistical work through creation of the Statistical Society. The essence of Kochubey's report on Balashev's project amounted to developing statistical units within different ministries and to abandoning all plans for centralized aggregation of statistical information. The projects’ historical context and their significance for evolution of statistics in the Russian Empire are considered.

The Reverend Tiyo Soga, ordained as a minister in the United Presbyterian Church of Scotland in December 1856, is a remarkable figure in many ways. However, one area not yet commented on in the scholarly literature on Soga is the legacy of his family within the ministry. This paper examines the role of Soga's parents, ‘Old Soga’ and NoSuthu, in his conversion and introduces his wife, Janet Soga, and their seven surviving children, of whom two sons – William Anderson and John Henderson – were ordained ministers and missionaries, and two daughters – Isabelle McFarlane and Francis Maria Anne – worked in missions in the Eastern Cape. The three remaining Soga siblings, who did not go in for the ministry, nonetheless led full and interesting lives. Kirkland Allan was a pioneer of the now ruling African National Congress, Festiri Jotelo was the first South African veterinary surgeon, and Jessie Margaret was a pianist and music teacher in Scotland, where she looked after Janet Soga after they moved to Dollar following Soga's death. In addition, Soga's nephew and namesake, Tiyo Burnside Soga, became an ordained minister and a writer, and since then, several of Soga's great- and great-great-grandchildren have become ministers. This paper seeks to situate the Soga family as a powerful family in South African religious history and its intelligentsia.

This research explored campus ministry leaders’ engagement with students through interviews (n = 19). Analysis indicated interviewees’ work includes building relationships with students, navigating the secular context of a public university, and tensions with others in campus ministry. Interviewees reported emotional strain resulting from extensive caring labor. Focused support for campus ministers would benefit both leaders and students.
