Pełny tekst źródłaOur works aim the study of an ultra-sensitive bacteria-based biosensor for the detection of heavy metals (environmental control). They include the development of impedimetric and of Love acoustic wave devices, both associated with a microfluidic chip and functionalized with Escherichia coli immobilized on a polyelectrolyte multilayer deposited by the method "Layer by Layer." The theoretical study of physico-chemical interactions and biological phenomena involved during the steps of functionalization of the sensor surface, and during its application to the detection of cadmium and mercury, is also addressed through the real-time monitoring by the acoustic sensor and by atomic force microscopy in air or liquid medium. Detection threshold better than10-12M within only a few minutes have been observed

Pełny tekst źródłaThe need of monitoring and controlling the concentration of heavy metal ions such as Pb2+ or Cd2+, which have toxic effects on all living organisms inspires chemists to synthesise more and more selective compounds. The aim of this work was the synthesis of amide and hydroxyamide derivatives of calix[4]arenes and their thiocarbonyl analogues. Nine thioamide derivatives as well as their respective amide derivatives, five hydroxamate derivatives and four calix[4]arene-hydroxamic acids were obtained. Studies of ligands interaction with metal cations were investigated using different techniques: 1H NMR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, liquid-liquid extraction, UV absorption spectrophotometry, potentiometry and microcalorimetry. The replacement of the oxygen atoms by sulphur atoms in the tertiary amide structures led to compounds highly selective for Ag+ and Pb2+ over I and II group of cations. Hydroxamic acids of calix[4]arene occurred to be efficient extractants for Fe3+ and Cu2+. Moreover, very important results obtained with these compounds could find an application in the context of the removal and separation of Pb2+ from other toxic metals such as Cd2+. In addition, these ligands could be used to separate Cu2+ from Ni2+ and Zn2+, which are often found together. Selectivity of thioamide and hydroxamate derivatives was assessed using these ligands as sensor materials in ion-selective membrane electrodes. Electrodes based on calix[4]arene-thioamides, particularly on compounds bearing piperidinyl and morpholinyl substituents are promising analytical tools for monitoring Pb2+ concentration in natural and drinking waters

Pełny tekst źródłaThe objective of this work is to divert the well-known cathodic protection process used to prevent metal structures against marine from corrosion, in order to develop an efficient tool for metal remediation in seawater. One of the consequences of this kind of protection is the formation of the calcareous deposit on the surface of the metal. The deposit is composed of a mixture of brucite Mg(OH)2 et aragonite CaCO3 and is formed by the precipitation of calcium and magnesium ions in seawater. The idea is to trap metallic pollutant in the calcareous deposit.First, the growth of the deposit has been studied on galvanized iron wires as a function of the impressed current and physical and chemical properties of the seawater. We found that variable values of the impressed current allow to control the proportion brucite/aragonite in the deposit. Increasing experiments duration and high water stirring speed favors the aragonite, and high temperatures modify the surface properties of the calcareous deposit.In the second part the nickel and lead trapping capacity of the deposit is studied in artificial seawater. We have demonstrated that the method works, and its efficiency depends on the impressed current. Material
