Practicum is one of the academic activities that must be carried out by students at Gunadarma University. It's not just one department that does practicums, but all majors do practicums. One of the practicums that students must do is the Informatics Engineering Laboratory which is intended for students of the Faculty of Industrial Technology. In practicums in several majors, including practicum in the Informatics Engineering Laboratory, if the practitioner does not take part in the practicum for any reason, except for getting a special case, they must make a memo as the practitioner's identity to take part in the practicum again. To make a memo, the practitioner must come to the Informatics Engineering Laboratory Staff room to make a memo. The practitioner can make memos if the practitioner follows the specified time to make memos. Not only does the memo maker have to comply with the time the memo is written, but taking memos also must comply with the time the memo is taken. It can take quite a long time to get the memo because you have to come on time to the Informatics Engineering Laboratory Staff room and wait to pick up the memo. Therefore, the author took the initiative to create a mobile application called "Online Memo Application (E-Memo) Android Based Informatics Engineering Laboratory". With this application, the practitioner can make memos anywhere and anytime and also the practitioner can come to the Informatics Engineering Laboratory Staff room to validate the memo which is useful for checking the authenticity of the memo. This application is made with the Dart programming language with the Flutter framework. This application is also made using Android Studio and Firebase as a place to accommodate data on practitioners who have made memos. This application runs on Android Version 5.0 with the code name Nougat and above.

_ This article, written by JPT Technology Editor Chris Carpenter, contains highlights of paper SPE 206340, “Natural Language Processing Applied to Reduction of False and Missed Alarms in Kick and Lost-Circulation Detection,” by Michael Yi, Pradeepkumar Ashok, SPE, and Dawson Ramos, Intellicess, et al. The paper has not been peer reviewed. _ Kick and lost-circulation events are major contributors to nonproductive time. In the absence of good flow-in and flow-out sensors, pit-volume trends offer the best possibility for influx and loss detection, but errors occur because external mud addition and removal to the pits is not monitored or sensed. In the complete paper, the authors introduce a method that uses a Bayesian network to aggregate trends detected in time-series data with events identified by natural language processing of driller memos, thereby improving significantly the accuracy and robustness of kick and lost-circulation detection. Methodology The objective of this project was to develop a model to detect and quantify kick and lost-circulation events using readily available real-time surface signals. This model used drilling memos to supplement real-time surface signals. Fig. 1 shows the general work flow to create a lost-circulation- and kick-detection model using drilling-memo comments and Bayesian networks. Consumption of Drilling Memos. While real-time channels provide insight into potential kick and lost-circulation events, drilling memos provide additional details regarding events that could affect these real-time channels. By consuming the drilling memos and providing the rig a relationship and direct communication with the kick and lost-circulation models, the algorithm can use both surface channels and textual information from the memos to identify such events. Note that these drilling memos are also consumed in real-time. The drilling-memo data used included two channels, Date/Time and Drilling Memo. In total, 494,726 drilling memos from 271 wells were used. The data set first needed to be labeled into memo types. Given the size and many varieties of the drilling memos, a semisupervised method was used to develop a classifier to categorize the drilling memos. First, the memos were preprocessed to improve the model’s ability to cluster similar memos. This involved the following changes: - Conversion of similar words to assist with clustering - Removal of special characters - Removal of numbers - Removal of punctuation - Stemming (the process of reducing inflected or derived words to the base form) - Removal of stop words - Removal of extra white space and tabs - Lower-casing of all words The data was then clustered using a K-means clustering algorithm with 100 clusters. Many clusters were selected in order to create a large number of differentiating groups because of the variety of drilling memos provided in the data. Once clusters were generated, each cluster was grouped into classified memo types, which, in turn, provided labels for the drilling memos that fell into each cluster. For the memo data set, the 100 clusters were categorized into 34 different memo types. Drilling memos that contained text indicating they should be categorized into a certain memo type were processed separately through custom scripts.

Background Cognitive and behavioral symptoms are the clinical hallmarks of neurocognitive disorders. Cognitive training may be offered to reduce the risks of cognitive decline and dementia and to reduce behavioral symptoms, such as apathy. Information and communication technology approaches, including serious games, can be useful in improving the playful aspect of computerized cognitive training and providing motivating solutions in elderly patients. Objective The objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of employing the MeMo (Memory Motivation) Web app with regard to cognitive and behavioral symptoms in patients with neurocognitive disorders. Methods MeMo is a Web app that can be used on any Web browser (computer or tablet). The training activities proposed in MeMo are divided into the following two parts: memory and mental flexibility/attention. The study included 46 individuals (mean age 79.4 years) with a diagnosis of neurocognitive disorders at the Institut Claude Pompidou Memory Center in Nice. This randomized controlled study compared the evolution of cognition and behavior between patients not using MeMo (control group) and patients using MeMo (MeMo group) for 12 weeks (four sessions per week). Patients underwent memory and attention tests, as well as an apathy assessment at baseline, week 12 (end of the training period), and week 24 (12 weeks after the end of the training sessions). In addition, to assess the impact of high and low game uses, the MeMo group was divided into patients who used MeMo according to the instructions (about once every 2 days; active MeMo group) and those who used it less (nonactive MeMo group). Results When comparing cognitive and behavioral scores among baseline, week 12, and week 24, mixed model analysis for each cognitive and behavioral score indicated no significant interaction between testing time and group. On comparing the active MeMo group (n=9) and nonactive MeMo group (n=13), there were significant differences in two attention tests (Trial Making Test A [P=.045] and correct Digit Symbol Substitution Test items [P=.045]) and in the Apathy Inventory (AI) (P=.02). Mixed analysis (time: baseline, week 12, and week 24 × number of active days) indicated only one significant interaction for the AI score (P=.01), with a significant increase in apathy in the nonactive MeMo group. Conclusions This study indicates that the cognitive and behavioral efficacies of MeMo, a Web-based training app, can be observed only with regular use of the app. Improvements were observed in attention and motivation. The aim of the article is to study the rehabilitation effect of typhlo devices on the formation of the cognitive sphere of the personality of a school student with visual impairments with the help of psychological and pedagogical experiment. Materials and methods. The research was conducted as a psychological and pedagogical experiment. The following information technologies were used with the help of typhlo devices: “RUBY”; “SAPPHIRE”; “PEARL”; “TOPAZ”; “ONIX”; “SARA CE”; “PIEX TALK”; “TOUCH MEMO”; “FOCUS 40 BLUE”. Results. Significant differences in the use of typhlo devices with information technology were identified in the experimental and control groups (t=2.0-6.1; р<.01; р<.05): “RUBY”; “SAPPHIRE”; “PEARL”; “TOPAZ”; “SARA CE”; “PIEX TALK”; “FOCUS 40 BLUE”. The absence of significant differences was identified (t=1.5-1.6; р>.05): “ONIX”; “TOUCH MEMO”. It has been proved that implementing the recommended information technology increases interest in lessons, promotes cognitive activity, and enhances the school student’s creative potential. Conclusions. It was generalized that using typhlo devices during the work of school students with visual impairments allowed them to personalize their learning as much as possible, making the learning process creative and investigational.

The memos considered in the article in the 1930s, in the form of a special document, became possible with the onset of a certain stabilization in the evolution of the regulation of the activities of loaders in commercial ports During this period, «memo» is a special kind of information and rationing, in some cases created taking into account and relying on existing, mainly local, regulatory legal acts. The purpose of such a document is to directly guide its user for use in appropriate conditions. Memos, as you know, are informational, recommendatory, i.e. such that they are not responsible for the violation of the provisions contained in them, or binding. The latter, usually, have such features as locality-action on a certain territory, or in relation to a group of persons, but their most important feature is normative fixedness, i.e. they are fixed in the form of a document adopted and put into effect often in an arbitrary order; the presence of a selection of norms included in the memo from other normative acts, selected and compiled for investing the production of any type of work, or managing them. One of the goals of the development and introduction of memos is to give a narrowly defined circle of participants in specific relationships a certain set of the most necessary rules and calculations, always «at hand», a hint for the order of actions. In the conditions of the complicated technology of loading and unloading operations, a high degree of injury risk, low literacy of the bulk of movers, such acts should be recognized as very useful.

This article discusses the business process of reconciling a memo and improving it using digital signature technology. The technology of business process modeling is applied. Business process models are constructed for their analysis and improvement. The AS-IS and TO-BE process was modeled, the general requirements for the digital signature module were identified, and the possibility of introducing this module into the existing electronic document management system was considered. The features of the project for the oil and gas industry are considered. The necessity of implementing the technology is justified and the effectiveness of its application is shown. The project of introduction of digital signature technology is considered. The goals, tasks, and stages of the project are defined. The advantages of using this technology are described. An important conclusion is made that a digital signature allows you to free up resources for solving key tasks of the company.

This study presents the use of web SMS technology as an alternative method for primary school notification system. By integrating the system with SMS gateway, it will enable the primary school notification system to send information to parents’ mobile phone directly. The traditional methods of notifying parents about the school matters by sending letter and written memo are time consuming and the updated information may not reach the parents. This integration allows information to be disseminated from computer to mobile phone at any time without requiring face to face meeting or the use of other media such as paper-based notice or verbal notice from the students. Furthermore, parents can always be alert and aware of the latest announcement or information no matter where they are. A usability testing was conducted to 20 users to survey the feedback on SMS technology to notify parents. The results from the testing stated that 100% of users give positive feedback about the ease of use and satisfied that the system can replace old systems. Based on the results, it shows that the integration of primary school notification system with SMS technology is highly recommended.

Micromachined accelerometers have found large attention in recent years due to their low-cost and small size. There are extensive studies with different approaches to implement accelerometers with increased performance for a number of military and industrial applications, such as guidance control of missiles, active suspension control in automobiles, and various consumer electronics devices. This thesis reports the development of various capacitive micromachined accelerometers and various integrated CMOS readout circuits that can be hybrid-connected to accelerometers to implement low-cost accelerometer systems. Various micromachined accelerometer prototypes are designed and optimized with the finite element (FEM) simulation program, COVENTORWARE, considering a simple 3-mask surface micromachining process, where electroplated nickel is used as the structural layer. There are 8 different accelerometer prototypes with a total of 65 different structures that are fabricated and tested. These accelerometer structures occupy areas ranging from 0.2 mm2 to 0.9 mm2 and provide sensitivities in the range of 1-69 fF/g. Various capacitive readout circuits for micromachined accelerometers are designed and fabricated using the AMS 0.8 µ
m n-well CMOS process, including a single-ended and a fully-differential switched-capacitor readout circuits that can operate in both open-loop and close-loop. Using the same process, a buffer circuit with 2.26fF input capacitance is also implemented to be used with micromachined gyroscopes. A single-ended readout circuit is hybrid connected to a fabricated accelerometer to implement an open-loop accelerometer system, which occupies an area less than 1 cm2 and weighs less than 5 gr. The system operation is verified with various tests, which show that the system has a voltage sensitivity of 15.7 mV/g, a nonlinearity of 0.29 %, a noise floor of 487 Hz µ
g , and a bias instability of 13.9 mg, while dissipating less than 20 mW power from a 5 V supply. The system presented in this research is the first accelerometer system developed in Turkey, and this research is a part of the study to implement a national inertial measurement unit composed of low-cost micromachined accelerometers and gyroscopes.

In this thesis 10x10 reconfigurable reflectarray is designed at 26.5 GHz where the change in the progressive phase shift between elements is obtained with RF MEMS switches in the transmission lines of unit elements composed of aperture coupled microstrip patch antenna (ACMPA). The reflectarray is illuminated by a horn antenna, and the reflected beam is designed to switch between broadside and 40°
by considering the position of the horn antenna with respect to the reflectarray. In the design, the transmission line analysis is applied for matching the ACMPA to the free space. The full wave simulation techniques in HFSS are discussed to obtain the phase design curve which is used in determining two sets of transmission line lengths for each element, one for the broadside and the other for switching to the 40°
at 26.5 GHz. The switching between two sets of transmission line lengths is sustained by inserting RF MEMS switches into the transmission lines in each element. Two types of RF MEMS switches, series and shunt configurations, are designed for the switching purpose in the reflectarray. The phase errors due to nonideal phase design curve and type of the RF MEMS switch are reduced. The possible mutual coupling effects of the bias lines used to actuate the RF MEMS switches are also eliminated by the proper design. To show the validity of the design procedure, a prototype of 20x20 reflectarray composed of ACMPA elements is designed at 25GHz and produced using Printed Circuit Board (PCB) technology. The measurement results of the prototype reflectarray show that the main beam can be directed to the 40°
as desired. The process flow for the production of the reconfigurable reflectarray is suggested in terms of integration of the wafer bonding step with the in-house standard surface micromachined RF MEMS process.

Os sistemas micro eletromecânicos são dispositivos na escala dos micras que combinam estruturas mecânicas com circuitos elétricos, e são usados como sensores ou atuadores. Dentro destes dispositivos, estão os de onda superficial acústica (SAW em inglês) que usam variações na velocidade ou percurso de propagação da onda para fazer a detecção da variável a medir. Uma aplicação importante em processos químicos, é no acondicionamento de ambientes, monitorando a umidade. Para isso um sensor SAW comprado, foi coberto em sua superfície com uma camada de um polímero absorvente de vapor de agua. No qual o aumento na massa do polímero na superfície diminui a velocidade da onda. Por tanto o PolyVinyl Álcool foi escolhido para absorver o vapor de agua e foi preparado com 5.6 wt por cento, para ser depositado por meio de spin coating. Então uma serie de experimentos foram feitos numa câmara climática variando tanto a umidade como a temperatura, com o fim de avaliar o comportamento do sensor medindo a sua variação da frequência. Estes resultados foram comparados com um modelo analítico e uma simulação por elementos finitos. O modelo analítico foi presentado por Sielman, o qual determina como muda a densidade e espessura no polímero com a umidade. Estes valores foram substituídos na equação de Wohltjen que dá a variação da frequência de um SAW devido a absorção de gases. Em quanto a simulação por elementos finitos foi feita em Comsol Multiphysics achando a frequência para a qual o SAW ressona, com o aumento da densidade na camada acima do SAW para as umidades inseridas.
Micro electromechanical systems (MEMS) are devices that combine mechanical structures with electrical circuits at the micro scale, to function as sensors or actuators. One type of MEMS are the surface acoustic waves (SAW) devices, which uses the surface wave velocity or propagation path variations to measure the variable of interest. One important application in chemical processes is related to environment condition control, specifically humidity measurement. With that purpose, a commercial SAW was purchased and coated with a polymer layer in its surface. The PolyVynil Alcohol (PVA) was chosen to be the sensing layer in the SAW due to water vapor absorption properties, that increases the mass over the surface and decrease the wave velocity, leading to sense this humidity changes. 5.6wt per cent PVA solution was prepared and deposited through spin coating. Therefore, a series of tests were carried out in a climatic chamber, varying the humidity and temperature conditions, with the aim to analyze the sensor behavior by measuring its frequency shift. These results were compared with an analytical model and a finite element simulation. The analytical model presented by Sielman determines how the polymer density changes with humidity. These density values were inserted into the Wohltjen equation, which gives the frequency shift of the SAW due to gas absorption. Regarding the finite element simulation, it was carried out in the Comsol Multiphysics software, by solving the different resonating frequencies as a function of the increase in the polymer density due to the insets of humidity values.

In the frame of this thesis, different types of structures have been investigated and designed. The first structure consists of a microstrip patch antenna which is loaded with a microstrip stub whose length is controlled by RF MEMS switches. In the other structure, the length of a microstrip patch antenna is changed by connecting a metal plate using RF MEMS switches. The third structure is composed of a microstrip patch antenna and a microstrip stub on which RF MEMS variable capacitors are placed periodically to control the resonant frequency. In order to maintain an easier integration with RF MEMS capacitors, another structure consisting of a microstrip patch antenna and a coplanar waveguide (CPW) stub which is loaded with variable RF MEMS capacitors is designed. The final structure is a dual frequency CPW-fed rectangular slot antenna whose resonant frequencies are shifted by RF MEMS variable capacitors placed on a short circuited stub inserted inwards the antenna. The fabrication of CPW-fed rectangular slot antenna is completed in the MEMS fabrication facilities of METU using RF MEMS process based on electroforming on glass substrate. The measurement results show that RF MEMS components might be a proper solution to obtain tunable frequency antenna structures.

This thesis presents a design methodology for MEMS that integrates Cosserat theory into haptic sensing tec1mology. The Cosserat method is applied to the modelling of MEMS in an effort to reduce the complexity of the modelling and to provide a more accurate representation of stress in miniaturised devices. The approach developed uses a new semi-analytical technique based on both power series expansion and a multimodal approximate method. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed model, our method is tested successfully with simple MEMS components and compared with FEM and analytical solutions. Simple MEMS structures are implemented in a haptic environment to check the feasibility of real-time simulation using this theory. A userfriendly interface is also developed that allows the real-time display of simple MEMS structures such as a cantilever microbeam, a microbridge and a plate undergoing loads and the corresponding bending with force-feedback rendering and quantitative deflections. None of the existing CAD software packages for Microsystems enable real-time displays of accurate deflections.. Novel haptic implementations of surface interactions, such as the Casimir effect, are also implemented which have the potential to guide designers during the assembly process or to train engineers/scientists.

In the healthcare field, games and gamification have been applied as tools to support traditional treatments for dementia, anxiety, and depression. Immersive environments using Virtual Reality (VR) can help elderly users be more focused on the tasks to be done, enhancing their memory skills. This paper proposes a new cognitive exercise called Memo-VR, which combines VR technology with interaction techniques, such as scanning and virtualizing the user’s hands, to play a memory game. Memo-VR was evaluated with a group of elderly users who gave positive feedback about the game.

While circuit switching will continue to find application in telecommunications facilities protection, network rearrangement, and in providing very high speed channels to subscribers, a packet­like transport called Asynchronous Transfer Mode or ATM is expected to play an increasingly important role. Abstract A review is given for MEMS devices fabricated using packaging materials. From reported literatures and patents, a variety of ceramic and plastic materials have been used for many microdevices. The green tape process for ceramic, flexible circuit and printed circuit board process platforms are all found to be suitable for 3-D, complex MEMS devices. In addition, micromolding and laser machining are reported for plastic materials. Devices fabricated from those materials include micromotors, sensors, biomedical chips, fuel cells, microchemical reaction chambers, micromirrors, microlens systems, etc. The introduction of packaging material into MEMS fabrication bridged the gap for devices that are 3-D, meso or large scale, have relatively large force and are low cost.

This report provides status and results after completing Phase 2 of an ongoing project to develop a simplified test method for portable analyzer emissions tests. The Phase 1 report provided the technical rationale for simplifying procedures (e.g., calibration) and reducing associated costs based on the inherent linearity associated with the physical properties of electrochemical cells, which are the analytical technology used in current generation electrochemical analyzers. The Phase 1 report also identified the primary criteria for the simplified methodology. This document provides a listing of related PRCI project documents, including the project plan, the draft test method, and the data gaps memo. The main focus of this report is to present results of lab and field experimentation conducted in 2016 and 2017 designed to address the data gaps. Portable analyzer manufacturers (Testo, AMETEK, and ECOM) demonstrated support for this project via cofounding and participation in experimentation and draft method discussions. The conclusions drawn from the experimentation in support of draft method revisions will be discussed in greater detail in the final report.
