Streszczenie:
This article examines the foreign models of regulation of the media industry aimed at protection of children from information that may harm their health and development. The author reviews the widespread approaches towards classification of the systems of mass media regulation, and the genesis of the corresponding scientific representations. Having compared the key provisions of these approaches, the author determines the universal factors and parameters of the systems of mass media regulation in foreign countries. Addressing the issues of children’s protection from harmful content and taking measures aimed at restriction of distribution of information, the article considers media regulation system as a social practice and vector of information policy. The conclusion is made on the key role of the traditional value orientations, perceptions of risks in relation to health and development of children, mechanisms and technologies for protecting children from harmful information. Pronounced trends in regulation of mass media for the protection of children include the increase in national differentiation despite the globalization of media communication processes, which the author associates with the diversity of the main sources of dynamics of sociocultural national spaces. The growing commercialization of media industry indicates the need for integrating the capacities of state and civil mechanisms of control over the distribution of media products in the face of the threat of monopolization of media industry.

Background and objectives: Some clinical studies have suggested that otitis media with effusion may be associated with body mass index. The objective of this study is to evaluate the association between otitis media with effusion and body mass index in preschool age children. Methods: A cross-sectional study conducted on 270 cases in preschool age children. All children from hospital outpatient department & kindergarten were examined by otoscope for the signs of otitis media with effusion and their body mass index was calculated based on their height and weight tympanometry was done for all of them. those with type A &B were included in our study. Results: A total of 270 children enrolled in our study. Most of them 74% (201) did not have otitis media with effusion while only 69 kids had otitis media with effusion which was equal to 25.6% of the total participants there was a significant statistical association between study groups and BMI of children. More than half of the otitis media with effusion cases (53.7%) had normal body mass index in reverse to most (74.1%) of children without ear infection. Around quarter (23.2%) of otitis media with effusion participants were over-weight, while only 8.5% of control cases were over-weight. The obesity was more prevalent (13%) among otitis media with effusion cases than normal children (4%). Conclusions: In this study we concluded that there is a significant relationship between otitis media with effusion & body mass index in preschool age children. The prevalence of obesity was higher among children with otitis media with effusion than those unaffected

In article presented the results of complex treatment of children with exudative otitis media. The prevalence of exudative otitis media (EOM) is especially high among children: according to some foreign authors, the disease occurs in 5-25%, while others - in 6.5 to 10.9%. This indicator reaches its maximum values at the age of 2-5 years, and by the age of 10, 80 children have a history of at least one episode of exudative otitis media. As noted by the authors, boys are more susceptible to the disease. In studies, a number of authors have shown that in Europe exudative otitis media is the main cause of hearing loss in children aged 2 to 7 years (during mass examinations of children of this age group, it is found in 30.2 cases). The high frequency of exudative otitis media in children - 4 times more often than in adults - is associated with anatomical prerequisites: a short horizontal auditory tube contributes to infection of the middle ear cavity.

The current development of science has influenced technology to reach all segments of life. Namely, the media plays a big role in human development. At the very mention of mass media, we mean a whole treasury of technologies that transmit information and send certain messages. Classical mass media include: print (books, newspapers, posters, leaflets, comics), film, television and media of new information and communication technologies. Multimedia content animates children so much that they spend most of their time with the Internet and television, which confirms their enormous influence on shaping their lives.Although it covers all age groups, scientists are most interested in the impact of mass communication tools on children. Most of them believe that the means of mass communication are dangerous for children, that they leave a deep mark, because children are more prone to be blinded by negative influences. The expansion in the development of the media triggers new dilemmas, which are related to the impact on young people, which depends above all on the content which is plasira, and then and types of media, can be positive, and also negative. However, knowing that films, television, the Internet or the press are the fastest means of influencing children and even the elderly, we cannot view the mass media only as a possibility of negative action, but how to achieve positive, cultural and educational influences on the media with the same intensity. children’s attitudes and behavior. The modern way of teaching is most effective by using a wide range of teaching tools that motivate students to learn the teaching material. From the point of view of Gogo, the competence of teachers is also necessary for their implementation in teaching with the aim of meeting educational needs. The intention of the work is to train students for the rational application and adoption of appropriate educational content through means of mass communication.

Topicality. The current study is based on the research «Media Consumption among schoolchildren: Information Age and Socialization of Children in a Post-Transition Society» (Faculty of Journalism, 2013-2016). The research shows how parents and teachers understand the effects media have on their children. The study describes how Russian children of school age use different sources of information nowadays and why they use them. It also analyzes the role and place of traditional mass media in children’s life, looks into the level of their immersion into the information environment. The authors discuss if the society needs accurate and relevant information in order to improve the approach to these processes, and to develop media content strategies that meet the needs of children’s socialization. Objective. The study determines the degree, to which different groups of school children are immersed in various information environments, types of social media they use and the role of older generations in children’s media consumption. Design. In this work, in-depth interviews with respondents are used as the main method of study. The interviews include questions regarding the following issues: family traditions of media consumption, children and mass media, new media and traditional media. Interviews with teachers included a block of questions dedicated to media education problems. These interviews were conducted in five Russian cities: Uglich, Yakutsk, Perm, Kaliningrad and Moscow. The respondents included 104 parents and 78 teachers. Results. The current research doesn’t underestimate the use of the mass media for children of school age. Still, there is no universal strategy of mass media's integration into the educational process. Conclusion. The results are quite contradictory. Parents argue that their children need mass media to analyze the reality and to get new knowledge, but their practical use of the media is focused primarily on entertainment. Talking about the control, parents often mention restraining measures. This points to a problem of digital divide between generations, as well as highlights the instability of the Russian media system, which produces content of quite poor quality.

PA was monitored using accelerometers and media time was reported by parental proxy. Results:In general, correlations were low to moderate at best (r < 0.51), but in the expected direction. Total media time and TV were significantly associated with BMI (r = 0.51, P < 0.05) and FM (r = 0.29 to 0.30, P < 0.05) in girls. In boys, computer usage was significantly associated with FM in boys (r = 0.31, P < 0.05).Conclusion:The relatively low correlations suggest that other factors may influence the complex, multi-factorial body composition phenotype of young children.

This paper provides a review of contemporary literature (both by Russian and foreign researchers) on Soviet children print media. The project constructed the model of Soviet society in the 1970–1980s presented in the Soviet children print media of that period. The authors discuss the existing approaches to Soviet media practices with a focus on the potential for their own research. The basic assumption for the review is admitting the process of reading as an essential social practice in the USSR, supported by both the government and citizens. A large part of the reading population was young generation who became a target audience of education policies implemented by the Soviet mass media. The authors distinguished between three groups of literature sources: 1) studies that analyzed Soviet culture policies and creation of “the new citizen/man”; 2) studies that focused on the development of central (all-Soviet) and regional mass media from 1917 to 1980-s. This group considers children print media as a functionally separate subtype of the Soviet mass media; 3) studies that examined the representations of Soviet political and social models in children mass media. The findings revealed that the problem under scrutiny proves important and highly attractive for scholars with a particular emphasis on two interrelated aspects of children’s media — promoting universal axiological guidelines for a younger generation as well as being an instrument of propaganda. In conclusion, the authors identified their research niche area as finding out discursive mechanisms (linguistic, semiotic and strategic) as lying in the foundation of ideologically motivated and non- ideological representations of the Soviet society.

This paper summarizes the theoretical aspects and the experimental studies on the efficacy of mass media in mental health information campaigns. In theory, most authors agree to give mental health information to the lay public but they caution against the overestimation of the power of mass media. Regarding research on the use of mass media in mental health very few experimental studies have been published and they refer mainly to primary prevention with children. The authors discuss reasons which may explain the mental health professionals’ lack of interest in this area of research, suggest new approaches for the elaboration of educational programs for the population and emphasize the importance of secondary and tertiary prevention.

The purpose of this study was to find out an overview of parents perceptions of the impact of social media use on adolescents with a total sample of 35 from purposive sampling techniques and analytical descriptive research methods. The measuring instrument used is a questionnaire of parents perceptions of social media. The results of the study stated that the majority of participants had internet access, but not all were registered on social media networks. It was also found that all participating children were registered on one of the social media networks and the majority of parents supported the child being registered on one of the social media. The majority of participants said they could stop their children from using social media, and all participants were aware of threats on social media. Realizing this, the majority of parents discussed social media threats with their children and the most preferred security measure by the majority of participants was with parental monitoring measures. According to participants, the most responsible for protecting children are parents, but the rest also argue that teachers, schools, internet service providers and mass media have a responsibility. Parents are expected to always monitor children in the use of social media because from the results it is found that parents actually have authority in regulating childrens social media use.

SummaryThis paper examines the effects of exposure to mass media messages promoting family planning on the reproductive behaviour of married women in Nigeria using cross-sectional data. Longitudinal data are also used to ensure that exposure to media messages pre-dates the indicators of reproductive behaviour. Cross-sectional analysis suggests that: (1) contraceptive use and intention are positively associated with exposure to mass media messages, and (2) women who are exposed to media messages are more likely to desire fewer children than those who are not exposed to such messages. Similarly, analysis of the longitudinal data shows that exposure to mass media messages is a significant predictor of contraceptive use. Thus, exposure to mass media messages about family planning may be a powerful tool for influencing reproductive behaviour in Nigeria.

In today’s society mass media and more recently, multimedia, have established themselves as essential components with a dominant role of the contemporary world. Hence the need to consider these means as supports in educating individuals of all ages. In addition to having an informational role, mass media takes an important amplifying part in education, as well as a constitutive and diversifying one in regarding to the cognitive and behavioral experiences of individuals. Nowadays, governments, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, the private economy and each individual make an effort to integrate the idea of sustainable development in all areas of the educational system. Specific skills and knowledge that we gain as children and teenagers in the family, at school, in training or university will not last for a lifetime. Humanity is programmed to survive. In this context the term ‘programmed’ does not mean the same thing that we use in the computer sciences. Herein, we are dealing with emotional tangle and the continuing struggle to find ourselves. In this way we discovered education as a process. The purpose of practicing this process is that the personal development of an individual can be organized by certain rules. However, the formality enters the function to some extent and we also know that man is inclined to lay in his use of free will. So now we have reached to a new discovery, which is appointed as informal education. This paper, first of all encompasses this form, but also skewed approach to public relations and prospects is also different from those which have been hitherto. First, we will discuss what PR is. Further, we will elaborate education as a process; moreover, we will see how it can be split any further. Hence, history encompasses a factual situation. Lastly, it will be given the interconnection among PR, mass media and informal education.

The article examines the frequency of the content of aggression in the media and its impact on the human psyche. The article presents the results of a study of the frequency of manifestation of aggression in the media, using the method of quantitative content analysis, which is based on the study of the content of any documents, media materials, literature, works of art, personal and official documents. As an object of research, we identified the frequency of manifestation of aggression, the material of the study is a random sample of 7 films ("The Great Gatsby", "Pompeii", "State Councilor", "The Third Extra", "The Diary of Memory", "Law Abiding Citizen" and "Bruce omnipotent"). The units under study are movie episodes, which we have divided into 7 categories: open manifestation of aggression (verbal and non-verbal); display of humor; unreal situations (fantasy); manifestation of sentimentality; neutral and positively oriented neutral plots; narration; manifestation of fear. Having considered all the units of study of a random sample of movies, we came to the following conclusion: aggression is one of the most common categories on television. According to the results of the study, it can be assumed that one of the reasons for the aggressiveness of modern society is the presence of a large amount of negative information in the media, this is due to the fact that a person tends to "absorb" and copy forms of behavior "from the screen", in particular, this applies to children aged up to 12 years old.

Mass-media have powerful influence on characteristics and development of contemporary societies. Modern societies are characterized by different varieties of violence as un-human social and anthropological behavior patterns of different societies and as shapes of social pathology. Media are the most significant mediator between sport and men of modern societies particularly of young people. Violence, as on expression of aggressive behavior, is not just a consequence of global society and mass-media influence on audience (especially hooligans), but it is developing as a consequence of socialization of personality. Youth violence is also a consequence of mass-media influence on young people's education. Children and youth are especially sensitive to violence in mass-media.

The article is devoted to the influence of media information on the formation of the younger generation. It describes the views of scientists on the problem of socialization of children in the conditions of informatization of modern society. It also analyses the possibilities of modern computer technologies in the educational process and scientific sources based on the introduction of personal computers, multimedia and the Internet, as well as the key concepts of the study “media information”, “computer technology”, “mass media”. Theoretical and practical aspects of the process of implementation of computer-based learning technologies in preschool education are covered. The article also describes the main forms of influence of media information on the formation of the younger generation. It proves that the positive potential of computer technology is to create new opportunities for child development, gaining new experience. The article substantiates that the use of computer technology in preschool education not only contributes to the acquisition of new knowledge, but also to the development of such indicators as cognitive motivation, cognitive interest, independence, initiative, curiosity, creativity. Children have the opportunity to show their individual abilities. It establishes that the existence of a modern child cannot be imagined without the media influence of television and the Internet. Today, media information is not only the main source of information about what is happening around, but also one of the most important institutions of socialization of the individual. A set of tasks has been developed to contribute to the effective education and upbringing of preschool children. The article reveals the main aspects of individual qualities of preschool children, which are formed under the influence of the mass media. The amount of content provided by digital media has greatly contributed to easier access to various information. However, a critical view of such content is often omitted due to the lack of need for it, lack of adequate education that follows the development and use of new technologies, as well as the lack of time dedicated to this issue. It increasingly points to the need to incorporate media literacy into educational systems, as a way of developing critical reflection and making adequate use of the harvested information. In addition to schools as institutions of education, children of digital colonies are additionally educated outside of institutions through mass communication media. The key to protecting children from negative influences of various contents is to develop their critical thinking about given contents by means of learning various skills required for processing mass media messages. Understanding the importance of media literacy is extremely important, but considering its implementation in the system, it involves transhumanist aspects that contradict the mere essence of literacy. The paper deals with a review and a consideration of changes in behaviour patterns when using digital technologies, as well as a presentation of the often invisible links between the commercialization of content and the expected responses of users.

The article describes the impact of the Mass Media on the formation of the worldview of the young. This impact may be positive or negative. On the one hand, the media educate young people and enhance their participation in public life. On the other hand, they may mislead or promote false values, and manipulate the young generation’s consciousness. What helps people not to get involved into the tried-and-true crowd manipulation scheme in the media landscape is critical thinking, whose lack results in inability to choose the right guidelines in the flow of false information provided by various Media. The authors emphasize the role of the state, which, regarding the needs of the society, should enculturate the young generation, as well as exercise tight control over communication in the global web and publications in the Internet Media and social networks. One of the directions of the state’s policy is expanding the geography of information and communication technologies, and the other is ensuring information security of the young in general and adolescents in particular. To provide this, the state develops organizational and legal mechanisms aimed at protecting children from harmful information in the web, and requirements for the content, its expert evidence and government control. The article demonstrates the results of a study carried out by the authors to assess the current youth Media and their influence on criminality. The key criterion for selecting participants of the focus group was young age, since the young are the most active and the least protected players in the media landscape. The sampling was made by random choice in order to ensure equal opportunities for participation in the study.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to identify the role of nutrition in the etiology of chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) by comparing the prevalence of CSOM between undernourished children with normal children aged between 10 and 12 years. Materials and Methods A total of 200 children aged between 10 and 12 years studying in government schools were selected for the study. All the children underwent a general and detailed ENT examination in addition to nutritional assessment based on body mass index calculation, using World Health Organization (WHO) Child Growth Standards Chart. The children were divided into two groups: Group A and Group B. Group A consisted of 100 children who were malnourished and Group B consisted of 100 children who were normal. The presence of CSOM in the two groups was noted. Results and Observations Of the total 200 children, 112 were boys (56%) and 88 were girls (44%). Of the 112 boys, 22 (19.64%) had CSOM and out of 88 girls, 24 (27.27%) had CSOM. Of the total 46 children found to have CSOM, 35 children (76.1%) belonged to Group A and 11 children (23.9%) belonged to Group B. Conclusion Our study shows that there is a higher prevalence of CSOM among undernourished children than in normal children. High prevalence of CSOM in undernourished children is a preventable health problem that needs health education and active intervention.

The problem of socialization of the individual and generations is one of the most urgent ones. The influence of mass media is associated with certain challenges and risks for society and individuals, especially in relation to socially insufficiently mature children, adolescents and youth. It is in the young age that individuals go through the most crucial stage of socialization and the formation of a socially mature personality. The respondents’ responses acknowledge the tendency of weakening the role of the family and strengthening the role of the media in the upbringing of children, adolescents and young people as they grow up. Sociological materials show that various mass media play an increasingly important role in “socializing interactions” – not only positive, but also negative. It is regrettable that the media pays little attention to the formation of important social qualities of a positive character in people. Society and the state have the right to expect from the mass media a socially responsible position, respectively, active and purposeful participation in the positive socialization of young generations.

Background Increased carotid intima-media thickness is one of the predictors of future cardiovascular diseases. However, it is still unknown which body composition parameter or anthropometric measure is the best predictor for carotid intima-media thickness change among children and young adolescents. Objective To investigate the associations of body composition and anthropometric measures with carotid intima-media thickness among a group of obese and normal bodyweight schoolchildren. Methods A total of 125 schoolchildren (10–15 years) were recruited from four public schools in Amman, Jordan. Of them, 60 (29 boys and 31 girls) were normal bodyweight students and 65 (35 boys and 30 girls) were obese students. Anthropometric measures, fat mass and fat-free mass were determined. Carotid intima-media thickness of the common artery was measured using high-resolution B-mode ultrasound. Results Compared to normal bodyweight students, obese participants exhibited greater carotid intima-media thickness (mm) (0.45 ± 0.10 vs. 0.38 ± 0.08, p = 0.002) and fat-free mass (kg) (48.01 ± 11.39 vs. 32.65 ±7.65, p < 0.001). Pearson’s correlation coefficient and linear regression analysis revealed significant associations ( p≤0.05) between mean carotid intima-media thickness and body mass index, waist circumference, hip circumference, waist-to-hip ratio, fat mass and fat-free mass. Stepwise linear regression analysis revealed that waist circumference was the only measure that was statistically significant ( p ≤ 0.05) with mean carotid intima-media thickness (r2 = 0.129, p = 0.002). Conclusions Obesity is related to greater carotid intima-media thickness and other cardiovascular risk factors among schoolchildren. Waist circumference is more sensitive in predicting increased carotid intima-media thickness than other body composition or anthropometric measures. Waist circumference measurement in the analysis of future studies assessing the cardiovascular risk among obese children is warranted.

Modern media space is an actively developing area of mass communication. A number of modern historians define it as a perspective for a negative scenario of social development. Modern man is actively involved in the media space, which forms his priorities, moods, tastes. Complements and diversifies leisure time. Almost everyone's day begins and ends with watching media content. Children and young people turned out to be especially active users. This trend is alarming. Live human communication is being replaced by a digital copy that does not require special energy costs from the user. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the problems of the production of audiovisual content in the media space. Building high-quality information content will minimize the negative component of the transforming communication process.

Fertility is the main components of population growth. Children ever born vary in different sub groups of the same population in terms of age at marriage, age of women, literacy, occupation, contraception user and mass media exposure. The objective of this study is to find out association between children ever born and selected socio-demographic characteristics in lower caste women. A descriptive study was conducted in some selected wards of Pokhara, Nepal during April 2018. Five wards were selected randomly out of 33 wards and 187 lower caste women were selected using convenience sampling technique. The data was collected by using semi-structured interview schedule. Chi-square test was applied to find out association between children ever born and selected socio-demographic characteristics.Higher children ever born were concentrated in the age at marriage from 21 to 25 as compared to other groups of age at marriage. Practice of contraceptive use is low among lower caste people although 66.31% lower caste women were exposed to mass media. The result shows that the factors age at marriage, contraceptive use and mass media exposure were highly associated with children ever born among lower caste women under study (P<0.05). Education on fertility is more powerful than urban residence. Concern authorities should play vital role to increase education level among lower caste people for increasing age at marriage, contraceptive use and practice of family planning to reduce children ever born.

Poor IYCF (Infant and Young Children Feeding) practices are factors of poor nutrition among infants and young children in developing countries including Bangladesh. To address this problem, a national mass media campaign was launched using television channels along with home counseling. The study was designed to explore the effect of IYCF intervention on changing knowledge and practices of mothers in rural Bangladesh. The study used a cluster randomized trial design where six unions were randomized to allocate them to 'only mass media intervention (intervention-I)' or 'mass media + direct counseling (Intervention-II)'. Three unions were subjected to 'intervention-I' and the other three were subjected to 'intervention-II'. In intervention-I areas, the knowledge of initiation of breast feeding was improved by 8.5% and practice was improved by 23.7%. It was 17.9% and 16.6% respectively in intervention-II areas. In intervention-I areas knowledge about initiation of complementary feeding improved by 2.7% and in practice it was 19.3%. In intervention-II areas it was 8.6% and 21.3% respectively. Regarding giving the right quantity of complementary food, in intervention-I areas the improvement rate was 6.2% for children between 7-8 months old and 34% for children between 9-12 months old. In intervention-II areas it was 13.7% for children between 7-8 months old and 56.8% for children between 9-12 months old. Significant improvements were found in both the intervention areas, but changes were almost similar in both groups. Coverage of interpersonal communication was found to be very low. Improvement of IYCF knowledge and practice might be the contribution of mass media.South East Asia Journal of Public Health Vol.5(1) 2015: 18-24

Breastfeeding is essential for child survival but globally less than fifty percent of infants receive adequate breastfeeding. Gaps in breastfeeding knowledge and misinformation are widespread. Mass media aims to motivate mothers and families, encourage care-seeking, improve social norms, and counteract misleading advertising. However, the costs and coverage of mass media are not well documented. Our study provides a cost-accounting of four large-scale mass media interventions and coverage obtained through mass media. We retrospectively calculated annual costs and costs per beneficiary of mass media interventions based on expenditure records in four countries. The interventions were a part of multi-component breastfeeding strategies in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, and Vietnam. Annual costs ranged from 566,366 USD in Nigeria to 1,210,286 USD in Vietnam. The number of mothers of children under two years and pregnant women ranged from 685,257 to 5,566,882, and all designated recipients reached during the life of programs ranged from 1,439,040 to 11,690,453 in Burkina Faso and Bangladesh, respectively. The cost per mother varied from USD 0.13 USD in Bangladesh to 0.85 USD in Burkina Faso. Evaluations showed that mass media interventions reached high coverage and frequent exposure. This analysis documents the financial costs and budgetary needs for implementing mass media components of large-scale breastfeeding programs. It provides annual costs, cost structures, and coverage achieved through mass media interventions in four low- and middle-income countries.

Employing a quantitative Cross-Sectional design and Total Sampling technique, data from 20 respondents were gathered through questionnaires and checklists to measure mass media consumption, friendship quality, and delinquent behavior. Statistical analyses, including the F-test and t-test, revealed that mass media exposure and friendship dynamics collectively accounted for 63.7% of the variance in student delinquency. These findings highlight the need for collaborative efforts between schools and parents to combat student delinquency, with implications for targeted interventions and educational initiatives to promote positive behavior among youth. Further research is warranted to explore the nuanced influences of mass media and friendships on student behavior and societal well-being.

Streszczenie:
Digital media literacy is “the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and communicate content from media messages. Digital media literacy also means the ability to understand, analyze, and deconstruct media imagery. The ability to do this is aimed at making viewers as consumers of mass media - including children become aware or literate about the way media is constructed / made and accessed. In short, this literacy is often called "media literacy". These community service partners are children of the recitation of the Hidayatul Mubtadiin Talim Council, located in Ciledug District, Peninggilan Utara Village, Tangerang City. The Talim Council has members consisting mostly of children from 7 years to 17 years of age. This partner has several problems including: First, many children of the talim council have received and consumed hoax news from the Whatsapp group and also social media. Second, the children of the talim assembly are less able to maintain their own privacy on social media, where there was once a case of children running away from their homes because they were friends with people they knew through their social media. The solution in this community service is by providing training on digital media literacy which can be achieved through things such as: a. how to filter good information from social media, b. how to process good information from social media, c. How to safeguard and protect personal data in a digital environment.

Background and purpose: Japanese encephalitis (JE) is a public health issue that can be prevented by immunization programs. Indonesia began the JE immunization campaign in Bali through simultaneous immunization for children aged 9 months to 15 years. Although information dissemination has been carried out, knowledge, perceptions and characteristics of mother and child can influence the acceptance and uptake of immunization for children. This study aims to determine the factors that influence acceptance of JE mass immunization in Bali Province. Methods: Secondary data analysis was performed on the results of the JE Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIA) Udayana University survey which consisted of 1,284 mothers and 2,107 children. The survey was conducted from June-August 2018 in nine districts/cities in Bali Province. The association between knowledge, perception and respondents’ characteristics with acceptance of JE mass immunization was analyzed with chi square test and multivariate analysis was conducted using logistic regression. Results: The proportion of children who received immunization was 93.9% (95%CI: 92.8-94.9). The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant association between acceptance of JE mass immunization with the child’s age, sex, educational status, complete basic immunization history, mother’s perception of severity, benefits, barriers, knowledge and sources of information (p<0.05). Multivariate analysis shows that the variables which significantly increase JE mass immunization acceptance are information from a combination of media and face to face education (AOR=3.95; 95%CI: 2.01-7.77), schooling children (AOR=2.43; 95%CI: 1.23-4.79), living outside of Denpasar City (AOR=2.32; 95%CI: 1.49-3.62), children who have received complete basic immunization (AOR=2.22; 95%CI: 1.42-3.49), face to face information only (AOR=2.11; 95%CI: 1.21-3.70) and girls (AOR=1.68; 95%CI: 1.15-2.46). Conclusion: Information disseminated via a combination of media and face to face is the strongest variable influencing JE mass immunization acceptance. Providing appropriate information through a combination of media and face to face education by health or non-health workers needs to be considered.

Background:Mass media campaign is an integral tool to influence physical activity participant behaviors. The purpose of the systematic review was to identify the effectiveness of mass media campaigns in promoting physical activity. Methods:Literature update from January 2010 to September 2016 was conducted in 13 databases. Full text articles of 128 were screened, and 23 articles (18 campaigns) were selected from the initial 1692 articles. Results:All campaigns involved mass media advertisements to promote physical activity to general individuals (n = 2), adults (8), children (4), older adults (2), and parents of children (n = 2). The campaign evaluation designs included clustered RCT (2), cohort (3), quasi-experimental (9), and cross-sectional (9). Eight articles demonstrated significant campaign impact on proximal, 6 on intermediate, 5 on distal outcomes, and 6 on distal change based on either proximal or intermediate outcome. Conclusion:The current review assessed the outcome evaluation of mass media physical activity campaigns that varied in their respective scope, target population and outcomes measured to identify individual changes at proximal, intermediate, and distal level. Results from formative and process evaluation as well as dose-response and cost-effective analysis are suggested to provide valuable evidence for campaign stakeholders and planners.

The object of study was prohibited acts committed by children up to 13 years old which caused a reaction of the justice system. The results of the research deny a common belief, also popularised by the mass media that the age of juveniles who committed serious crimes is rapidly falling down. In fact, in most cases we deal with petit crimes.

In the search for new forms: The realities of the Ukrainian market of children’s mediaThis paper analyses one of the most innovative segments of the Ukrainian media market — digital and convergent media for children — from the perspective of media studies. Вasing on the results of relevant research and valid empirical data, the author suggests a possible typology for analyzing new media by content presentation type — monomedia and multimedia. Multimedia can be classified in origin — i.e. digitized versions of print media, original “digital born” media, and combined media. Thanks to such characteristics as modernity of design, high level of creativity, functionality, interactivity, attractiveness, efficiency of communication with young consumers, the most pronounced level of innovation in Ukraine is seen in multimedia and convergent mas media for children, which amalgamate printed magazines and web portals. Particular attention has been paid to innovative digital platforms, which fundamentally expand the functional possibilities of media for children in general. This paper elucidates the fundamental reasons — in the light of the availability of technology, communications and creative possibilities, development of the IT sector and actual production of digital media — why in Ukraine digital media for children are rather sporadic artistic projects than mass products of media industry.

The United States and Westem Europe are on the edge of a cultural collapse brought about to a large degree by the mass media of entertainment, along with public schools and other institutions of mass cultural diversion, USA Today notes that 70 percent of Americans are unable to name the Ten Commandments. In a culture where physical health is a higher priority than spiritual vitality, another survey found that more Americans are familiar with the specific ingredients in a McDonald's hamburger than know the individual commands that comprise the Ten Commandments. Many Christian parents are concemed about the influence of media violence on their children, but do not know what to do about it. The good news is that there are effective ways to teach children to be media-wise. Specifically, there are five pillars of media wisdom that will help build the culture-wise family. Theodore Roosevelt said that if we educate a man's mind but not his heart, we will get an educated barbarian. Cultural and media wisdom involves educating the heart so that it will make the right decisions.
