Background The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted the adoption of digital health technologies to maximize the accessibility of medical care in primary care settings. Medical appointment scheduling (MAS) systems are among the most essential technologies. Prior studies on MAS systems have taken either a user-oriented perspective, focusing on perceived outcomes such as patient satisfaction, or a technical perspective, focusing on optimizing medical scheduling algorithms. Less attention has been given to the extent to which family medicine practices have assimilated these systems into their daily operations and achieved impacts. Objective This study aimed to fill this gap and provide answers to the following questions: (1) to what extent have primary care practices assimilated MAS systems into their daily operations? (2) what are the impacts of assimilating MAS systems on the accessibility and availability of primary care? and (3) what are the organizational and managerial factors associated with greater assimilation of MAS systems in family medicine clinics? Methods A survey study targeting all family medicine clinics in Quebec, Canada, was conducted. The questionnaire was addressed to the individual responsible for managing medical schedules and appointments at these clinics. Following basic descriptive statistics, component-based structural equation modeling was used to empirically explore the causal paths implied in the conceptual framework. A cluster analysis was also performed to complement the causal analysis. As a final step, 6 experts in MAS systems were interviewed. Qualitative data were then coded and extracted using standard content analysis methods. Results A total of 70 valid questionnaires were collected and analyzed. A large majority of the surveyed clinics had implemented MAS systems, with an average use of 1 or 2 functionalities, mainly “automated appointment confirmation and reminders” and “online appointment confirmation, modification, or cancellation by the patient.” More extensive use of MAS systems appears to contribute to improved availability of medical care in these clinics, notwithstanding the effect of their application of advanced access principles. Also, greater integration of MAS systems into the clinic’s electronic medical record system led to more extensive use. Our study further indicated that smaller clinics were less likely to undertake such integration and therefore showed less availability of medical care for their patients. Finally, our findings indicated that those clinics that showed a greater adoption rate and that used the provincial MAS system tended to be the highest-performing ones in terms of accessibility and availability of care. Conclusions The main contribution of this study lies in the empirical demonstration that greater integration and assimilation of MAS systems in family medicine clinics lead to greater accessibility and availability of care for their patients and the general population. Valuable insight has also been provided on how to identify the clinics that would benefit most from such digital health solutions.

Discute a importância da biblioteca virtual para o ensino a distância de qualquer curso; para tal o bibliotecário deve ser elemento indispensável na equipe de EAD uma vez que ele conhece as fontes e as formas de organização da informação, o que lhe possibilita atuar inclusive como tutor. Recomenda-se a intervenção do bibliotecário já na fase de planejamento do curso de tal forma que a biblioteca resultante seja um produto/processo tão importante quanto os demais componentes curriculares e customizada ao curso em questão. Destaca a gestão da informação nos sites educacionais, essa outra modalidade de EAD na formação continuada de professores. Abstract Discusses the importance of the virtual library in distance learning of any course; for such the librarian must be an essential element in the Distance Learning team as he knows the sources and the ways of information organization, that makes possible to him to act as tutor also. The intervention of the librarian in the phase of planning of the course is recommended in such a way that the resultant library will be a product/process as important as the the rest of the curricular components and it should be customized according to the referred course. It emphasizes the management of information in educational sites, another model of Distance Learning in the continued formation of teachers.

There are currently different techniques, such as CGH arrays, to study genetic variations in patients. CGH arrays analyze gains and losses in different regions in the chromosome. Regions with gains or losses in pathologies are important for selecting relevant genes or CNVs (copy-number variations) associated with the variations detected within chromosomes. Information corresponding to mutations, genes, proteins, variations, CNVs, and diseases can be found in different databases and it would be of interest to incorporate information of different sources to extract relevant information. This work proposes a multiagent system to manage the information of aCGH arrays, with the aim of providing an intuitive and extensible system to analyze and interpret the results. The agent roles integrate statistical techniques to select relevant variations and visualization techniques for the interpretation of the final results and to extract relevant information from different sources of information by applying a CBR system.

In crosses between inbred lines linear regression can be used to estimate marker effects; these marker effects then allow marker-assisted selection (MAS) for quantitative traits. Weighting of marker and phenotypic information in MAS requires estimation of genetic variance associated with the markers: the usual estimators are biased, resulting in too much weight being placed on marker information relative to phenotypic information. In this paper we develop a cross-validation method to remove this bias, and show by simulation that response to selection using this method is almost as high as that achieved using optimal weighting of marker and phenotypic information.

The purpose of this paper is to explore the effective approach of Multi-Agent system(MAS) modeling and simulation. A detailed study of modeling and simulation of Space Information System has been carried out by combining controlled and intelligent requirements. To begin with we will provide a brief background on the Multi-Agent System concept and structure. Furthermore, grasp the model structure through vertical and longitudinal analysis with the consideration of emergence and collaboration. Tahapan yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari communication, planning, modeling, contraction dan develoyment. INTISARIKualitas penyampaian informasi pada situs http://sipp-mas.jogjakota.go.id yang digunakan oleh dinas kesehatan pemerintah kota Yogyakarta untuk menyampaikan informasi masih tergolong rendah. Portal ini digunakan untuk masyarakat berupa RT/RW Siaga, Posyandu dan Kawasan Bebas Rokok. Situs ini telah dibangun dan bisa diakses secara terbuka. Meskipun sudah bisa diakses publik, namun menurut evaluasi, situs ini tidak memberikan informasi yang lugas dan jelas. Pengguna juga mengalami kesulitan untuk melakukan navigasi. Penelitian ini mencoba membuktikan hal tersebut dengan melakukan pengujian antarmuka dan pengalaman pengguna, serta membangun rancangan antarmuka sesuai rekomendasi yang diperoleh. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode pengujian usabilitas Think-Aloud Protocol, expert review dan survei. Hasil penelitian berupa rekomendasi dan rancangan usulan berupa prototype hi-fi menggunakan figma yang telah diuji dan mendapatkan hasil pengujian yang baik. Visitors cannot comprehend the content and have difficulties navigating the website. This research tried to confirm those problems and gave solutions on how to fix it. Methods used in this research Think-Aloud Protocol, expert review, and survey. Making this application is done by the System Development Life Cycle Method. Resumo A confidencialidade é elemento central da relação médico-paciente e está associada à boa qualidade do atendimento. Contudo, pode ser rompida em conformidade com as normas éticas e legais estabelecidas no país. Este estudo objetiva mostrar os principais aspectos da confidencialidade em medicina ocupacional. Para isso, realizou-se revisão narrativa de literatura sobre o tema, utilizando bases de dados de livre acesso e embasando-se nos códigos de ética médica. A atuação do médico do trabalho envolve o trabalhador, outros profissionais não médicos e o empregador, situação capaz de desencadear conflitos, requerendo que o médico conheça suas obrigações e limites ético-legais. A proteção da confidencialidade respeita os direitos humanos, mas dilemas podem surgir, não bastando obedecer aos ditames éticos, mas sendo necessário essencialmente seguir as normas legais. Este estudo busca mostrar os principais aspectos éticos e legais atualizados referentes à saúde ocupacional.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to describe the obsolescence process of Microsoft Academic Search (MAS) as well as the effects of this decline in the coverage of disciplines and journals, and their influence in the representativeness of organizations. Design/methodology/approach – The total number of records and those belonging to the most reputable journals (1,762) and organizations (346) according to the Field Rating indicator in each of the 15 fields and 204 sub-fields of MAS, have been collected and statistically analysed in March 2014, by means of an automated querying process via http, covering academic publications from 1700 to present. Findings – MAS has no longer been updated since 2013, although this phenomenon began to be glimpsed in 2011, when its coverage plummeted. Throughout 2014, indexing of new records is still ongoing, but at a minimum rate, without following any apparent pattern. Research limitations/implications – There are also retrospective records being indexed at present. In this sense, this research provides a picture of what MAS offered during March 2014 being queried directly via http. Practical implications – The unnoticed obsolescence of MAS affects to the quality of the service offered to its users (both those who engage in scientific information seeking and also those who use it for quantitative purposes). Social implications – The predominance of Google Scholar (GS) as monopoly in the academic search engines market as well as the prevalence of an open construction model (GS) vs a closed model (MAS). Originality/value – A complete longitudinal analysis of disciplines, journals and organizations on MAS has been performed for the first time identifying an unnoticed obsolescence. Any public explanation or disclaimer note has been announced from the responsible company, something incomprehensible given its implications for the reliability and validity of bibliometric data provided on disciplines, journals, authors and congress as well as their fair representation on the academic search engine.

The agent based approach is a well established methodology to model distributed intelligent systems. Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) are increasingly employed in applications dealing with safety and information critical tasks (e.g., in eHealth, financial, and energy domains). Therefore, transparency and the trustworthiness of the agents and their behaviors must be enforced. For example, employing reputation based mechanisms can promote the development of trust. Nevertheless, besides recent early stage studies, the existing methods and systems are still unable to guarantee the desired accountability and transparency adequately. In line with the recent trends, we advocate that combining blockchain technology (BCT) and MAS can achieve the distribution of the trust, removing the need for trusted third parties (TTP), potential single points of failure. This paper elaborates on the notions of trust, BCT, MAS, and their integration. Furthermore, to attain a trusted environment, this manuscript details the design and implementation of a system reconciling MAS (based on the Java Agent DEvelopment Framework (JADE)) and BTC (based on Hyperledger Fabric). In particular, the agents’ interactions, computation, tracking the reputation, and possible policies for disagreement-management are implemented via smart contracts and stored on an immutable distributed ledger. The results obtained by the presented system and similar solutions are also discussed. Finally, ethical implications (i.e., opportunities and challenges) are elaborated before concluding the paper.

The research examines the interaction effect between the intensity of market competition and the usefulness of broad scope and timeliness management accounting systems (MAS) information characteristics on strategic business unit (SBU) performance and job satisfaction. Fifty six SBU managers from manufacturing industry in Java and Sumatra had participated in the research. The collecting data used a questionnaire survey via electronic-mail and post. Data were analyzed using a moderated regression analysis. The results showed that the higher the intensity of market competition, the more positive the relationship between the usefulness of timeliness MAS information characteristic, SBU performance and job satisfaction. On the contrary the effect of the intensity of market competition on the relationship between the usefulness of broad scope MAS information characteristic, SBU performance and job satisfaction was not significant.

Purpose This paper aims to report the results of a study investigating the mediating role of managerial use of management accounting system (MAS) information in the relationship between integrated manufacturing practices (IMPs) and organisational performance (OP). IMP comprises three manufacturing practices, namely, just in time (JIT), total quality management (TQM) and advanced manufacturing technologies (AMTs). Design/methodology/approach Using a mailed questionnaire, the data were gathered from senior managers working in 110 manufacturing firms listed in the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Directory. Partial least square (PLS) was used to analyse the data. Findings The results reveal that the relationship between IMP and OP exists via managerial use of MAS information, that is, adoption of IMP is positively associated with managerial use of MAS information, which in turn, is positively associated with the performance. In other words, managerial use of MAS information plays a significant role in linking adoption of IMP with OP. Originality/value The use of MAS information in integrated manufacturing environment is found to assist firms in improving performance. Prior research on the IMP–OP relationship reports mixed (inconclusive) results. The authors contend that a possible reason for such results reported in prior studies is that the studies did not investigate the relationship between OP and IMP comprising each of the three manufacturing practices and performance as proposed by Dean and Snell (1991).

ABSTRACT In-depth understanding of the factors that facilitate group learning and group performance is critical for firms given the preponderance of group-based work in modern organizations. A firm's management accounting system (MAS) can play a critical role in the development of group learning. This paper discusses the role of MAS on an important driver of group learning; i.e., the group's transactive memory system (TMS). TMS refers to a shared memory system whereby group members obtain mutual awareness of relative expertise of individual group members based on interactions between members. Significant extant research reveals positive effects of TMS on team performance. We posit that MAS can influence the development of TMS; for example, MAS can facilitate encoding, storing, and retrieving information for TMS development (the information effect). MAS can also assist in increasing employee motivation to effectively contribute to and utilize TMS (the motivation effect). We discuss these two effects of MAS on TMS and provide implications and directions for future accounting research.

Purpose – The extant literature suggests that an increasing number of organisations are adopting manufacturing strategies such as JIT practices to continuously improve provision of products and associated services desired by customers. The authors aim to investigate the relationship between adoption (implementation) of JIT practices and organisational performance taking into account the role of market competition and managerial use of management accounting system (MAS) information. Design/methodology/approach – Data for the study were collected from 92 general managers of Australian manufacturing organisations. Mailed questionnaire and personal interviews were used to collect the data. Findings – The results reveal that market competition and managerial use of MAS (hereafter, the use of MAS) information impact the relationship between an organisation's adoption of JIT practices and its financial performance. The results reported in prior studies on the relationship are mixed; some studies report a positive relationship while others report no relationship. This study explains with empirical evidence when adoption of JIT practices provides financial benefits and when it does not. Research limitations/implications – The results are of interest to researchers and managers to understand performance implications of adoption of JIT practices and the use of MAS information. For researchers, the results make an incremental contribution to knowledge by revealing that adoption of JIT practices is beneficial in situations where it is supported by the use of MAS information in high competition market. For managers, the results highlight that an organisation will perform better in competitive market if it adopts JIT practices and its managers' information needs are met by its MAS. Specifically, the results will help managers to decide when adoption of JIT practices is beneficial, thereby help prevention of suboptimal decisions and the associated costs. Originality/value – The study challenges the inconclusive results reported in previous studies on the relationship between firms' adoption of JIT practices and financial performance and offers explanations for those results. The results show that benefits from an organisation's adoption of JIT practices are not universal. Rather, the benefits occur in situations where the use of MAS information and market competition are high.

From MAMA measurements of Tautenburg and OCA Schmidt plates we obtained proper motions and photographic UBVR photometry for ca. 45 000 stars up to B = 19 mag within a 17 square degree region in the Pleiades. An accuracy of 0.6 mag and 2 mas/year was estimated for magnitudes and proper motions, respectively. A sample of 554 cluster members was separated by use of both astrometric and photometric information on stars.

In this paper, the importance and technical support for the informatization and intelligent implementation of the smart grid are explored based on the complex scientific management thinking combined with MAS technology, with the smart grid as the breakthrough point. Subsequently, the framework structure of the smart grid information management system based on multiagent technology is put forward, focusing on expounding the design and functions of agents at the equipment level, subsystem level, and total system level in the system. The system functions are verified and analyzed through the test examples. The frequent occurrence of urban waterlogging constantly affects resident living and urban construction. Improved adaptive prevention and control strategies are highly requested due to huge economic losses and casualties caused by flood and waterlogging in China. The urban waterlogging may evolve into a serious emergency, generally characterized by high complexity, uncertainty, and time pressure. Coupled with the asymmetric information, waterlogging often exacerbates the impact of urban rainstorm disasters. Through the multi-agent system simulation with given geographic information, government and residents interact under dynamic risk distribution in rainstorm disaster. The results show that the proactive attitude of residents and the government towards disaster relief could have a promoting effect for both, thereby increasing the disaster relief efficiency. Obviously, rapid accurate information collection and analysis facilitate disaster relief to a large extent. Meanwhile, appropriate supply rather than excessive supply may mobilize residents’ self-help and balance replenishment of relief supplies.

There are many studies investigating relationship between paintings’ meta information (author, age, etc.) and their prices, however, there is limited research on how people’s aesthetic perception of paintings is related to their prices. To bridge this gap, we designed a website (pollart1000.com) collecting survey responses on people’s opinions regarding aesthetic values of paintings; survey and data were complemented with price information. Comprehensive statistical analysis of that data is presented, including scoring of the best and worst works, correlations between variables, typology of respondents, and more. The results quantify relationships between aesthetic values and art prices. Particularly, we showed that aesthetic preference is inclined to figurative and innovational rather than to abstract art and that relations between price and aesthetic values are rather weak except of special cases.

Context. Gaia Data Release 2 (Gaia DR2) contains results for 1693 million sources in the magnitude range 3 to 21 based on observations collected by the European Space Agency Gaia satellite during the first 22 months of its operational phase. Aims. We describe the input data, models, and processing used for the astrometric content of Gaia DR2, and the validation of these resultsperformed within the astrometry task. Methods. Some 320 billion centroid positions from the pre-processed astrometric CCD observations were used to estimate the five astrometric parameters (positions, parallaxes, and proper motions) for 1332 million sources, and approximate positions at the reference epoch J2015.5 for an additional 361 million mostly faint sources. These data were calculated in two steps. First, the satellite attitude and the astrometric calibration parameters of the CCDs were obtained in an astrometric global iterative solution for 16 million selected sources, using about 1% of the input data. This primary solution was tied to the extragalactic International Celestial Reference System (ICRS) by means of quasars. The resulting attitude and calibration were then used to calculate the astrometric parameters of all the sources. Special validation solutions were used to characterise the random and systematic errors in parallax and proper motion. Results. For the sources with five-parameter astrometric solutions, the median uncertainty in parallax and position at the reference epoch J2015.5 is about 0.04 mas for bright (G < 14 mag) sources, 0.1 mas at G = 17 mag, and 0.7 masat G = 20 mag. In the proper motion components the corresponding uncertainties are 0.05, 0.2, and 1.2 mas yr−1, respectively.The optical reference frame defined by Gaia DR2 is aligned with ICRS and is non-rotating with respect to the quasars to within 0.15 mas yr−1. From the quasars and validation solutions we estimate that systematics in the parallaxes depending on position, magnitude, and colour are generally below 0.1 mas, but the parallaxes are on the whole too small by about 0.03 mas. Significant spatial correlations of up to 0.04 mas in parallax and 0.07 mas yr−1 in proper motion are seen on small (< 1 deg) and intermediate (20 deg) angular scales. Important statistics and information for the users of the Gaia DR2 astrometry are given in the appendices.

This study aims to analyze how the promotion strategy carried out by Sawojajar Mas Pharmacy uses Digital Marketing to expand the market, increase sales turnover and attract new consumers. The research method in this study used a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection uses 3 techniques, namely interviews, documentation and participant observation. Interviews were conducted with 3 informants who were appointed as resource persons. The results of the study explain that Sawojajar Mas Pharmacy as one of the pharmaceutical businesses in Malang City has succeeded in using Digital Marketing as an effective promotional tool, by utilizing social media, where its implementation provides enormous benefits for the company's marketing strategy.
