Streszczenie:
Mary Ward was born in 1585 near Ripon, eldest child of a recusant family. She spent her whole life until the age of 21 in the intimate circle of Yorkshire Catholics, with her parents, her Wright grandparents at Ploughland in Holderness, Mrs. Arthington, née Ingleby, at Harewell Hall in Nidderdale, and finally with the Babthorpes of Babthorpe and Osgodby. Convinced of her religious vocation, but of course unable to pursue it openly in England, she spent some time as a Poor Clare in Saint-Omer in the Spanish Netherlands, first in a Flemish community, then in the English house that she helped to found. She was happy there, but was shown by God that he was calling her to ‘some other thing’. Exactly what it was to be was not yet clear, so she returned to England, spent some time in London working for the Catholic cause, and discovering that there was much for women to do—then returned to Saint-Omer with a small group of friends, other young women in their 20s, to start a school, chiefly for English Catholic girls, and through prayer and penance to find out more clearly what God was asking. Not surprisingly, given her early religious formation in English Catholic households, served by Jesuit missionaries, and her desire to work for her own country, the guidance that came was ‘Take the same of the Society’. She spent the rest of her life trying to establish a congregation for women which would live by the Constitutions of St. Ignatius, be governed by a woman general superior, under the Pope, not under diocesan bishops or a male religious order, and would be unenclosed, free to be sent ‘among the Turks or any other infidels, even to those who live in the region called the Indies, or among any heretics whatsoever, or schismatics, or any of the faithful’. There were always members working in the underground Church in England, and in Mary Ward's own lifetime there were ten schools, in Flanders and Northern France, Italy, Germany and Austria-Hungary. But her long struggle for approbation met with failure—Rome after the Council of Trent, which had insisted on enclosure for all religious women, was not yet ready for Jesuitesses. In 1631 Urban VIII banned her Institute by a Bull of Suppression, imprisoning Mary Ward herself for a time in the Poor Clare convent on the Anger in Munich. She spent the rest of her life doing all she could to continue her work, but when she died in Heworth, outside York, in 1645 and was buried in Osbaldwick churchyard, only a handful of followers remained together, some with her in England, 23 in Rome, a few in Munich, all officially laywomen. It is owing to these women that Mary Ward's Institute has survived to this day.

The purpose of the study was to evaluate the relationship between the provision of food to public primary schools by FTC and the enrolment of pupils in Mara Ward of Narok West Sub-County, Narok County, Kenya. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The target population was 131 public primary schools in Narok West Sub-County, 1460 teachers and 3150 pupils. A sample of 97 schools, 302 teachers and 344 pupils was drawn. Simple random sampling method in the numbers of schools, teachers and pupils was used. Findings of the study showed that provision of food increased the enrolment rate of pupils in school. This is because meals programmes offered in schools enables the pupils from far and humble backgrounds to have similar treatment to the pupils coming from better backgrounds and close to the schools. These programmes increased the level of admission of new pupils thus increasing the rate of enrolment in most schools. However, offering food in schools does not automatically increase the rate of enrolment for it was realized that quality of food matters the most as well. The findings can help the government to sensitize on the quality of food being offered to be increased. Meals programmes should be implemented in all schools in Mara Ward and even to other parts of the country. In addition, the quality of the food offered should be increased to reduce diseases associated with malnutrition.

Abstract— The use of technology and information systems is an obligation that must be applied by every agency or organization to simplify and optimize operational implementation. Many agencies are actively using information systems so that the agency's performance can run well, systematically, and controlled, which will impact the credibility of their agency. A good information system can be created because of good planning. Strategic planning of information systems allows producing a good information system. This is because the output produced is in the form of strategic plans and documents that methodically describe the needs of information systems. Torsina Private Vocational School is a vocational school that seeks to implement information systems in every operation to improve schools' services. Therefore, strategic planning is needed in the development of IS/IT at Torsina Private Vocational Schools so that the implementation of information systems becomes more controlled and on target. IS/IT strategic planning in this study uses the Ward and Peppard model, while the analytical tools used are Critical Success Factors (CSF's), SWOT Analysis, Value Chain, and McFarlans Strategic Grid. The existence of an analytical tool is used to support the Ward and Peppard model to determine the internal and external environmental conditions of the organization. The results of this study are strategic planning of information systems at Torsina Private Vocational Schools in the form of business strategy, IT strategy, IS/IT management strategy, and an information system portfolio that is mapped based on the level of importance.

Forty years ago Bernard Bailyn remarked that American historians of education had carried out their work “in a special atmosphere of professional purpose” and had made the history of the public school the focus of their investigations. Lawrence Cremin seconded that observation and added that, for all intents and purposes, the history of American education had been “the history of the public school realizing itself over time.” In the tradition of Ellwood Patterson Cubberley that self-realization of the American public school was portrayed as a progression from local roots to state-wide systems. It became synonymous with the evolution of school government from local control on the district and ward levels to direction and oversight by state administrators. For many school professionals and historians that progression meant progress. They saw it as overcoming local control which they regarded as a relic of the past denoting an endorsement of inequality, discrimination, and special privilege. It persuaded them to see the solution to the schools' problems in strengthened state and, eventually, federal control.

Education is the most powerful instrument to change the society. The welfare and economic progress of a country depends on the quality of education because education refers to the development of human skill and knowledge of the people or labor force and education is called human capital. Different education policies during the post independent period focused primarily to improve the enrolment in the primary school in India. In order to access all children up to 14 years of age the different National Education Policies gave priority to universialization of elementary education program on different times and many initiatives like Operation Black Board, Mid-day Meal, Sarvashiksha Abhijan (SSA) and Right to Education Act. Uttar Dinajpur district is not an exception. Literacy and education of the district shows dismal picture and according to census report 2011the district has the lowest rank in the state. The district is an economically and educationally back ward district. The present paper is an attempt to study the enrolment trend at the elementary level in the government school and private schools in Uttar Dinajpur during the period 2012-13 to 2016-17 and enquiry into the problems relating to the learning outcomes of the children at the elementary level in government schools of the district. The empirical findings point out many problems such as poor academic performances of the students, wastage of teaching time on mid-day meal related works, irregular attendance of the teachers in the school, teacher-guardian meet, guardians choice regarding admission of their children , lack of parents awareness and use of mobile phone in the class room.

They build relationships with students of color that help those students feel connected to their schools, they tend to be “warm demanders,” holding all students to high expectations and as colleagues, they tend to enhance cultural understanding among teachers and administrators of differing races and backgrounds. What they need from school and district leaders is more support for developing the mature, respectful, and diverse working environment in which black teachers and all of their colleagues can thrive.

Introduction Since hospitalization can be a traumatic event for children, many of them may suffer from a cluster of chronic psychological and emotional difficulties called Pediatric Medical Traumatic Stress (PMTS). Although PMTS causes considerable functional impairment and psychological distress and may decrease the children's compliance with post-surgical care, awareness of this condition is low and thus not enough effort is made to prevent it. The objective of this study is to assess prospectively the prevalence and characteristics of PMTS in school-age children following hospitalization in a general pediatric surgery ward and in their parents, which has not been documented before. Materials Patients and Methods We recruited parents of 88 children aged 6 to 13 years old, hospitalized in a pediatric surgery ward and which form a representative sample of the children of this age in the ward. Three to five months after discharge from the hospital, the parents completed questionnaires measuring symptoms of psychological distress. Results About 26.4% of children displayed symptoms of PMTS, and 11.6% of parents suffered from posttraumatic stress disorder following their child's hospitalization. Moreover, we found a medium high positive correlation between the parents' level of distress and that of their child. Conclusion In view of the prevalence of PMTS among school-aged children following surgical intervention, it is necessary to promote increased awareness, preventive interventions, and early identification and treatment of this condition.

The importance of education has often been underscored by scholars and researchers across different disciplines. Primary education is very crucial to the development of any nation. This is because of the liberating role it plays within the society. Studies have shown that when a person undergoes primary education, many problems that may constitute potential threats to the national and global well-being of a nation are solved. These problems include ignorance, illiteracy, religious violence, insecurity, and political servitude. This study investigated the reading and learning difficulties in English language among private and public primary school pupils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. The populations for this study are pupils of private and public primary schools in the Federal Capital Territory. It constitutes 491 primary schools in Abuja and an enrolment figure of 185,808. The study adopts multistage sampling technique which is a probability sampling technique. Data was analysed using simple percentages, frequency counts, and tables. Findings showed that primary school pupils experience some difficulties in reading and learning English language which is the medium of instruction in their schools. Some of these problems are environment induced, while others are foundational. In conclusion, the study recommends that parents must ensure they devote adequate time to help their wards develop the interest and confidence needed to achieve comprehension. Teachers need to be more strategic in the teaching of English language, especially by encouraging listening to the language first and constant practice.

The paper tries to underscore that how one of the oldest democracies of the world is exposed to corruption. Corruption has brought India not only to halt but also dragging it backward. Corruption in India stems from the connection between bureaucrats, politicians and criminals. Adiga writes that there are mainly three diseases in India typhoid, cholera and election fever of which election is the worst. Election is the very fountainhead of all types of corruption. Voters casting their votes for money or even for a bottle of liquor are a common practice in many cities of India. Politicians before election make many promises but once government is formed they forget the promises. Balram Halwai, the protagonist, owes his success to the bribe that he gave to political institutions. In corruption police stands second to none. Taking hefty amount of bribe, they protect the big-wigs from legal proceedings. They harass and arrest mostly the have-nots and the honest. The police are totally rotten in Delhi, the capital of India. “If they see you without a seat belt, you’ll have to bribe them a hundred rupees”, says Balram. The police appointed with a view to control crime and maintain law and order promotes crime by taking bribe. Corruption in education system has crippled the poor. The mid-day meal of the students is taken home by the teacher of the school. Balram’s school teacher sells the uniform of the students in the neighbouring villages to earn profit. He is carried to the hospital, where no doctor is present saved a ward boy. The ward boy tells Balram that the doctor might come in the evening only when Balram gives him ten rupees bribe. Balram asks a person who is beside him “why isn’t a doctor here uncle”. The man answers that the doctor gives a fat amount of bribe to higher officials to get that job and after getting the job the bribes government medical superintendent one third of their salary to mark their attendance. The corruption in health department costs the life of Balram’s father. Blaram’s father has been suffering from tuberculosis. Soil transmitted helminthiasis are common in the world and cause illness, especially in developing countries. It can cause infection in humans by contact with parasitic eggs or larvae that live in moist and warm soil. Soil-transmitted helminthiasis is often caused by Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Ancylostoma duodenale, and Necator americanus. In Indonesia, Soil transmitted helminthiasis prevalence is still high in some places. The tropical climate and high humidity support for the development of worms like in Sorong District, but there was no data. The purpose of this study is to identify the presece of Soil transmitted helminthiasis in primary school children in Sorong District. A cross-sectional study was conducted in two elementary schools located in Sorong District, West Papua, Indonesia. The two elementary schools are SDN 22 in Klain village and SD Inpres 24 in sub-district Mayamuk. Once collected, the pot that has contained stool is given formalin 10%. Stool examinattion using direct smear method to determine the presence of soil transmitted helminthiasis. Researchers get the subject as many as 147 children. The proportion of elementary school children by sex consists of 72 boys (49%) and 75 girls (51%). The prevalence of Soil transmitted helminthiasis as a whole was 30.6% (45/147) with 40.1% (18/45) single infections and 59.9% (27/45) mixed infections. The single infection that most frequent is Trichuris trichiura, then followed by Ascaris lumbricoides. Soil-transmitted helminthiasis mostly found in girl than boy and mostly found in 6-9 years age group. The worm species that infect elementary school children in the district is Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Hookworm, and Strongyloides stercoralis. This is probably related with the climate and low sanitation level. To eliminate soil transmitted helminthiasis among elementary school children, in addition to routine treatment also needs intensive counseling about the importance of maintaining personal hygiene and the environment.

As students at the Durham medical school in Newcastle during the early thirties, we were taught that illness could be due to certain factors and these were listed. The malady could be caused by infection, acute or chronic, trauma, neoplasia. … there were many possibilities but at the very end was a sort of garbage bin for all the diseases which did not fit neatly into the organic syndromes; these were called hysteria or psychoneurosis. These functional cases were diagnosed in a purely negative way, by a process of exclusion. No attempt was made to explain possible reasons for these troubles and there were no suggestions as to how to treat them. We were led to believe that such people were no more than time-wasters, suffering from unworthy maladies. If neurosis in all its forms gave rise to disdain, psychosis produced overt panic, as exemplified in the following case history. A young woman of 20 was admitted to a medical ward in the late stages of pregnancy because she was suffering from severe Sydenham's chorea. She was so bad, she was constantly in danger of falling out of bed and she was quite unable to speak coherently. It must have been because of this she was deemed mad, and a respectable medical ward was certainly no place for a lunatic. Fear in both the medical and nursing staff had completely obliterated all feelings of compassion. She was certified and transferred to the asylum where she died the next day. It was well known that chorea gravis carried with it a bad prognosis and, after all, there were side wards. The poor lass should have been allowed to die in dignity in one of them.

Friday Prayer is one of the obligatory services for all Muslims in the world. Aside from being an obligation, Friday prayers are also a gathering place and are a unifying symbol of Muslims. The problem that arises at this time is that many people do not perform Friday prayers; even Friday prayers are held in various mosques in one neighbourhood. This fact denies the essence of Friday prayers. The method used in this paper is a qualitative method with a normative approach. This article aims to find out the purpose of the law (maqāṣid al-syarī'ah) from the Friday prayers. From the various schools of jurisprudence the four schools can be seen that all the Imams of the schools agreed on the prescribed conditions of Friday prayers and all Muslims must carry them out. The obligation to carry out this Friday prayer, besides aiming at carrying out compulsory worship, is also a gathering place and a symbol of the unity of Muslims. Brotherhood and unity of Muslims can be done if one ward is only held one Friday prayer. This is different from the fact that runs at this time, where many Muslims in one region or neighbourhood perform Friday prayers with more than one mosque. This fact will contradict the intrinsic purpose (al-maqāṣid al-ḥaqīqī) of the Friday prayer.

Background: ACL injury prevention programs have demonstrated limited impact on population health, due in part to poor adherence to expert recommendations by sports coaches. Neuromuscular training (NMT) serves as a protective factor against ACL injury and serves as a key component of many ACL injury prevention programs. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of an educational workshop for sports coaches on adherence to neuromuscular training (NMT) implementation recommendations. Methods: In a cluster-randomized controlled trial, 22 teams in 8 high schools were randomized to either the intervention or control group. The intervention schools included 12 teams (5 female), and the control schools included 10 teams (4 female). The sports included basketball, volleyball, track and field, baseball, softball, and lacrosse. Coaches in the intervention group participated in a 60-minute educational workshop designed to teach coaches how to effectively implement a NMT program as a warm-up prior to team practice sessions and games. The schools in the control arm received print materials on recommended NMT exercises. Adherence to NMT implementation recommendation by sports coaches was the primary outcome. Eight data collectors, who were blinded to the teams’ assignment, were trained to observe each team’s practice or game 2-3 times a week. At each session, they completed a study questionnaire to identify the exercises completed by athletes during the team’s warm-up. They then recorded whether the coach 1) delivered exercise instructions, and 2) provided corrective cues. Generalized estimating equations (GEE) were used to account for potential correlations among teams at the same school. Results: A total of 399 practices or games were observed over 2 seasons. A greater proportion of coaches in the intervention group provided cues to correct improper technique compared to coaches in the control group [difference=0.04 (95% CI: 0.01, 0.07, p=0.006]. In addition, more coaches in the intervention group completed a full NMT program [OR=4.62 (1.22, 17.50), p=0.02]. There was a similar proportion of coaches in the intervention and control groups who provided exercise instructions [difference=0.01 (95% CI: -0.02, 0.04), p<0.44]. Conclusions: Coach education can improve adherence to NMT implementation recommendations and the delivery of corrective cues during NMT sessions, which are both critical to reducing the risk of ACL injury. All coaches should receive in-person training that highlights the salience of NMT and provides the knowledge and skills required to effectively implement NMT sessions with young athletes.

Many students come from various regions to pursue diverse opportunities to improve learning achievement. Life challenges as a boarding boy which is relatively free at their boarding house encourage them to have high achievement motivation. Some of them even stronger in which they work part time to fulfill their school fee and be able to ward off all the challenges and glamorous lifestyle around their dwelling which has lots of social facilities such as online game houses, cafes and 24-hour food outlets; promiscuity and other morality abuses. Athough there are still little number of the students who were dropped out from school as a result of being unable to control themselves but there exist a number of successful students and their achievements increase rapidly that take them to higher education

Rheumatoid arthritis is a musculoskeletal disease that affects many people, this disease causes many complaints including, pain in the legs, knees and various other joints. One of the non-pharmacological measures that can be done to reduce the intensity of pain is warm ginger compresses. Ginger contains essential oils with active ingredients school, gingerol, paradol and zingerone which are warm and can promote blood circulation. This study aims to determine the effect of ginger warm compresses on the reduction in pain intensity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. This type of research is a pre-experiment with one group design pre-post test design. This research was conducted in May-2017. The samples in this study were 15 people who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis pain with consecutive sampling data collection techniques. The results showed the intensity of rheumatoid arthritis pain before the warm ginger compress (pre-test) was average with moderate pain intensity. While the intensity of pain after a warm ginger compress (post-test) is average with mild pain intensity. Based on Wilcoxon's alternative paired t-test, p-value 0,000 (<0.05) means that there is a significant influence between the effect of warm ginger compresses on the decrease in pain intensity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. It is hoped to further develop several variables and add a long time to the administration of warm ginger compresses in rheumatoid arthritis so that the results of research on ginger warm compresses to reduce pain intensity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis are more optimal and can provide more accurate research results.

Many have referred to the coronavirus disease 2019 crisis and intertwined issues of structural racism as “twin pandemics”. As healthcare workers in Newark, New Jersey, a city heavily affected by the twin pandemics, we recognize that health workforce changes must be grounded in our community’s recent history. The objective of this essay is to briefly describe the relationship between organized medicine, state and local leaders, and the people of Newark. We begin with a discussion of Newark in the 1950s and 1960s: its people experienced poor socioeconomic conditions, terrible medical care, and the many sequelae of abhorrent racism. Plans to establish a New Jersey Medical School in Newark’s Central Ward also threatened to displace many residents from their homes. We then describe the Newark Agreements of 1968, which formalized a social contract between the state, business leaders, and people of Newark. In part, the Medical School committed to indefinitely promoting public health in Newark. We share progress towards this goal. Finally, we document key healthcare administrative decisions facing our community today. Stakeholder opinions are shared. We conclude that the Newark Agreements set an important standard for communities across the country. Creative solutions to healthcare policy may be realized through extensive community collaboration.

AimsOur aim is to study factors influencing attitudes of medical students towards pursuing Psychiatry as a career. We hypothesise that the minimal exposure and/or importance given to Psychiatry during medical school is insufficient to let a student truly experience and appreciate the specialty.BackgroundStudies report an annual decline in Psychiatry Trainees in many parts of the world. This deficiency is projected to create gaps between mental health service needs and providers. Studies have also explored the crisis in recruitment and the positive impact a short course can have in promoting engagement in Psychiatry by students.MethodAn anonymous questionnaire was distributed amongst medical students, from years 1 to 5, in the College of Medicine, Alfaisal University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Factors assessed in the survey included demographics, specialty ranking, acceptance ratios, role models and personal experiences, among others. Those who didn't express interest were asked about the lack of exposure to Psychiatry during medical school along with other influential factors that have been studied elsewhere, including those that we hypothesise to be of significance in our study population.ResultA total of 153 students responded. Positive views towards Psychiatry increased linearly by year (50% in Year 1 to 90% in Year 5). 33% of students selected psychiatry as a top 3 choice with the most significant factors being a unique patient-doctor relationship (P < 0.05), and the challenges faced in the specialty (95%).Of the 67% of students who did not prefer Psychiatry, insufficient exposure to ward experiences and the specialty as a whole were unanimously agreed upon factors. Other deterring factors included lack of instant gratification when treating a psychiatric patient (72%), and an underestimation by the non-medical community of a Psychiatrists role (26%).ConclusionOur findings give an optimistic view towards the future of Psychiatry in the region, given the large number of students (33%) who consider it in their top 3 choices for a career. However, a larger number of students continue to have a negative view towards Psychiatry, especially due to the lack of exposure to the specialty during medical school. The factors identified in our study should be tackled by medical schools or curriculum provision authorities, as this has shown to be of benefit in studies in other parts of the world.

AbstractThough male doctors gained prominence at the bedsides of pregnant mothers in nineteenth-century Europe, the clinical training they received in medical academies remained cursory. In France, to supplement the medical faculties, the government set up schools for both health officers and midwives which were meant to teach practical obstetrics. This paper focusses on the city of Arras, where these two groups of students competed for the limited numbers of pregnant patients on which to practice their future professions. Like many in their field, two prominent instructors in Arras at each end of the century promoted male obstetrical education over female, arguing that practical education for health officers would lead to safer births for mothers and infants. By the 1870s, the obstetrics instructor adopted germ theory, tying improved hygiene and thus mortality rates to male students’ access to hospitalised patients. Despite their arguments, in Arras, the male students never gained priority in clinical obstetrical training, which midwifery students kept. To keep male students out of maternity wards, local administrators used fears that gender mixing would lead to immoral acts or thoughts. In doing so, they protected the traditional system of midwifery rather than invest in more costly male medical education. Championing midwifery students’ rights to the spaces and bodies needed for their education, however, delayed adoption of hygiene and antiseptic practices that led to lower maternal mortality. Unable to adapt to changing requirements by the state, the medical school closed in 1883, while the midwifery programme thrived until the 1960s.

One of the many fascinating problems raised in recent issues of the Australian Journal of Indigenous Education (AJIE) is that of Indigenous autonomy in education. Although opinions differed about the extent to which Indigenous people currently exercise educational autonomy in various situations, there was wide agreement that there ought to be Indigenous control or ‘ownership’ of all knowledge relating to Indigenous life and culture, past and present. Sister Anne Gardner, then Principal of Murrupurtyanuwu Catholic School in NT, explained (1996: 20) how she decided to ‘let go, to move away from the dominant role as Principal’, in order that Indigenous persons could take control. She had been helped to this conclusion by reading Paulo Freire, Martin Buber and Hedley Beare, and, within the NT itself, ‘people of that educational calibre, such as Beth Graham, Sr Teresa Ward, Fran Murray, Stephen Harris, all pleading with us to allow education to be owned by Aboriginal people’. Sr Gardner held that ‘Aboriginal people never act as “leader”, a view shared by her designated Indigenous successor, Teresita Puruntayemeri, then Principal-in-Training of Murrupurtyanuwu Catholic School, who wrote (1996: 24-25) that ‘for a Tiwi peron it is too difficult to stand alone in leadership’. One way to share the burdens of leadership is, she suggests, to ‘perform different dances in the Milmaka ring, sometimes in pairs or in a group’.

A descriptive survey was conducted and the data was collected from 221 Upper Primary School students using structured questionnaire of child abuse. The findings of study were parents do not talk about the uncomfortable situations their child might face in absence of them along with and let the child make it know about the uncomfortable situation faced by their child to the responsible adult and the child to deal with such situations at school, movie, by doctor, friend or at a workshop. This is serious concern as parents must make aware about child abuse among their wards and Most of the Boys and Girls don’t know what to do if they will have to face any of the above mentioned situations.

This paper sought to assess the role of artisanal and small-scale mining in poverty alleviation, focusing on Barn mining area ward 25 Matopo (Matabeleland South Province). The study adopted a mixed method approach in data collection, comprising the use of questionnaires, interview guides, observation tools and focus group discussions. The study found that ASM contributes to income generation and employment creation and has become a major source of livelihood in many mineral resource endowed areas of Zimbabwe. It was concluded that ASM as an economic activity has improved livelihoods as the income affords the miners an improved standard of life in addition to the ability to buy agricultural inputs and sending their children to school. However, several challenges associated with ASM were identified. These include lack of financial and institutional assistance, gold wars and other unfound agreements made between miners and claim owners. Loss of life in mine accidents, spread of sexually transmitted diseases are some of the negative impacts identified. The study recommended that for the benefits of ASM to be realised in terms of poverty alleviation, ASM activities should be decriminalized and financial support availed to miners.

The article analyzes the features of the formation of the school of painting in Uzbekistan in the twentieth century, the harmony of painting with modern urban planning, analysis of the work of greatpainters. In particular, in the works of B. Jalolov, one of the most prominent artists in the field of monumental painting, we see that he skillfully combined the strong traditions of the academic school, the aesthetics of Western and Eastern art. His work can be seen in a series of frescoes. The interior of theTurkiston concert palace in Tashkent contains analytical information about the work of Umar Khayyam on oriental lyrics, “Nobody said why I was born” at the National Bank of Uzbekistan, as well as about his monumental works in many other regions. On the example of Samarkand, A. Isaev was one of the most versatile artists in the field of monumental painting, he also wrote “The Great Silk Road” on the walls of the foyer of the Institute of Foreign Languages and “Friendship of Peoples” for the foyer of the academic lyceum of the Institute, Examples “History of Samarkand” for the hotel “ Afrosiyab ", at the Samarkand Agricultural Institute, such as" The Generosity of Mother Earth ", 41 ceramic panels on Tashkent Street and many other monumental paintings. By the colors in the artist's works, one can imagine that the artist played the melody in a lyrical tone. The article notes that almost all compositions are characterized by a description of the artist's work, such as the observation ofwarmth, a set of warm colors, oriental colors, a patriotic mood, which is typical for all artists

Formation of the surface structure mechanism of the South Kuril waters in the last two years has undergone significant changes. Therefore, the “cold” type of hydrological conditions prevailed in the South Kuril area during August-November 2017. The surface water temperature was below the norm by 1–2 °C. On the contrary, the “warm” type of hydrological conditions prevailed in the South Kuril area during August-November 2018 and the water temperature in the area under consideration was 1–3 °C higher than the average for many years. Saury fishing in 2018, as in 2017, began in the second decade of August on the peripheral fronts of the Ask eddy and continued here until the second decade of September. At the end of September, the fishing area formed in the southwestern part of the EEZ of the Russian Federation and, unlike last year, it remained until the beginning of the third decade of October. The “warm” type of hydrological conditions causes this duration of the fishery. Saury moved outside the EEZ in late October. Fishing for sardines and mackerel began in mid-July 2018 and was carried out on the northern periphery of the eddy A’. However, at the end of October, unlike in 2017, fishing here practically stopped due to a decrease in the temperature drops at the peripheral fronts of the eddy caused by the high temperature of the surface waters of the Oyasio current. In late October — the first half of November in 2018, mackerel and sardine fished in high-gradient areas of the Northern Subarctic Front (NSAF) close to the eastern and southern borders of the Russian EEZ. During fishing season 2018, in contrast to the previous year, schools of sardines and mackerel remained much longer in the economic zone of Russia.

Reflecting on the many debates over the years on changing urbanization processes, on the towns and cities of yesterday, today, and tomorrow, the main challenge will be listening to lessons of wisdom from the past and adapting these to our future professional work. When Chief Seattle said that the Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth, he called for more humility and respect so as to plan for the needs of today and tomorrow, and not for the greed of a few. The doomsday scenarios of overpopulation only make sense if we continue to exploit our planet the way we do today, as if we have an infinite reservoir of resources. Already back in the 1960s, Barbara Ward, John F. C. Turner, and particularly Kenneth Boulding taught me to rethink our whole perception of Spaceship Earth. I have seen many towns and cities grow as if resources were limitless; I myself have seen and worked on efforts to focus on spatial quality, respecting nature whenever possible for a growing number of people, recognizing resources as being precious and scarce, and yet guaranteeing equitable access to a good quality of urban life. Such objectives are not evident, when models in education, schools of thought, professional planners, and greedy developers are often geared towards the contrary: the higher the skyscrapers, the better; the more egotripping by architects, the more the rich like it; the more people are stimulated to consume, the better the world will be. Such narrow visions will no longer help. At several global urban planning and developments events (1976, 1992, 1996, 2016, etc.), new ideas and agendas have been put forward. Whether the present Covid-19 crisis may induce a more rapid change in vision and practice is still too early to confirm, but luckily, several towns and cities, and a few visionary planners and decision makers are showing some promising examples.

The original outline of this article included a general overview and critique of the leading trends in the study of politics over the past 30 to 40 years. It was intended to compare the methods and results of different types of political thought-to consider in turn the historical school, the law school, researchers in the field of comparative analysis of forms of government, philosophers themselves, the approach of economists, the contribution of geographers and ethnologists, the work of statisticians, and finally to turn to psychological, sociological and biological interpretations of the political process. It would be an interesting and perhaps useful task to compare the subject and method of such thinkers as Jellinek, Gierke, Dugi, Dicey and Pound, the philosophies of Sorel and Dewey, Ritchie and Russell, Nietzsche and Tolstoy, to look at the methods of Durkheim and Simmel, Ward, Giddings and Small, Cooley and Ross, and to discuss the innovations found in the works of Wallace and Cole. It might be useful to expand the analysis to include important features of the environment in which these ideas flourished, and the many close connections between them. One could also discuss the impact of social and industrial development, class movements and class struggle or group conflicts in a broader sense, consider the impact of urbanism and industrialism, capitalism, socialism and syndicalism, militarism, pacifism, feminism, nationalism. It would be useful, perhaps, to present a critique of the methods and results described and to specifically assess the significance of logical, psychological, sociological, legal, philosophical and historical methodologies and the contribution of each of them to the study of the political. This task, however, was dropped and postponed for the next time, as it became apparent that no such review could be compressed to reasonable volumes. In order to achieve our common goal, it would seem that a different type of analysis would be more productive, aimed at reconstructing the methods of political research and obtaining more extensive results in both the theoretical and practical fields.

The study abroad home stay is often credited with particular value for language and culture learning. While living with host families, students are believed to observe and to participate in a wide range of everyday practices while upgrading their language proficiency and intercultural awareness. However, in quantitative studies of college-aged students abroad, the putative home stay advantage has been notoriously difficult to prove, perhaps in part because these students are interpreted by all parties (including themselves) as relatively independent young adults whose goals need not align with those of their hosts. Research examining the experiences of high school students has to date relied largely on self-report data suggesting that younger students are likely to be received as temporary family members, although this reception does not guarantee a productive language-learning environment. Based on field notes, audio recordings of conversational interactions, and interviews with both students and host family members, in this article we present three case studies, grounded in sociocultural theory and illustrating a range of experiences in a short-term summer homestay immersion program for American high school students in China. Our findings suggest that relatively advanced initial proficiency offers many advantages for interaction with hosts, but that students with modest initial proficiency can also develop warm and cordial relationships in the homestay if all parties are so predisposed. The inclusion of host family perspectives, heretofore relatively rare in the literature, also permits consideration of the homestay as a context for learning for all parties.

ABSTRACT Uneven cooking due to consumer use of microwave ovens to cook food products that have been prepared but are not ready to eat has been a documented risk factor in several foodborne disease outbreaks. However, the use of microwave ovens in restaurants and other food service establishments has not been well documented. The aim of this study was to describe the types of food service establishments that use microwave ovens, how these ovens are used, types of foods heated or cooked in these ovens, types of microwave ovens used in food service establishments, and the level of compliance with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines. From 2008 to 2009, the Minnesota Department of Health collected data from a convenience sample of 60 food establishments within the state. Facility types included fast-food restaurants, sit-down restaurants, school food service, nursing homes, hotels and motels, and daycare centers. Food preparation practices were classified as prep-serve, cook-serve, or complex. Minnesota environmental health specialists administered a study questionnaire to managers during routine inspections. Establishments included in this study reported using microwave ovens primarily to warm commercial ready-to-eat products (67%) and to warm foods for palatability (50%). No minimum temperatures are required for these processes because these foods do not require pathogen destruction. However, food establishments using complex preparation practices more often reported using microwave ovens for multiple processes and for processes that require pathogen destruction. For establishments that did report microwave oven use for food requiring pathogen destruction, the majority of managers reported following most FDA recommendations for cooking and reheating for hot-holding potentially hazardous foods, but many did not report letting food stand for 2 min after cooking. Additional training on stand time after microwave cooking could be beneficial because of low reporting of this practice among study participants.
