Streszczenie:
We propose a mathematical model describing the decrease in the market value of machines (depreciation) with age in a situation where its service life is random and has a Weibull distribution. We measure the depreciation of a used machinery item using a goodness factor, that is, the ratio of its value to the value of a similar new machinery item. The model is based on the principle of anticipation of benefits adopted in the valuation theory and the discounting cash flows method. The model takes into account that machine’s technical and economic characteristics deteriorate with age and its benefits are reduced according to the hyperbolic dependence adopted in the system of national accounts SNA‑2008. We have built the dependences of average machine's goodness factor on its relative age (the ratio of the actual age to the average service life). Calculations show that the discount rate and average service life have little effect on these dependencies. This made it possible to divide the machines into three categories and propose for each of them its own dependence of the goodness factor on the relative age, which is convenient for practical use in appraisal activities.

AbstractProductivity rate of manufacturing systems depends on technology, reliability of machinery, management, etc. The main attribute of machine’s reliability, which is availability plays important role for determination of the number of technicians that support the workability of the multi-stations the manufacturing system. The random downtimes of the productive machines have probabilistic nature. Failures of machines can coincide that lead to increasing downtimes and decreasing output of machinery. Practically, a technician conducts repairs of failures for one machine, but at the same time other failed machines can be in downtime until the failed machine in servicing. This situation leads to increase idle time of machines and hence a manufacturing system. How many machines should be in service by one technician is typical problem for industries. The proposed paper is represented the mathematical method with probabilistic approach for determining the number of technicians for servicing the manufacturing systems with minimum downtimes.

Modern rotating machines such as turbomachines, either produce or absorb huge amount of power. Some of the common applications are: steam turbine-generator and gas turbine-compressor-generator trains produce power and machines, such as pumps, centrifugal compressors, motors, generators, machine tool spindles, etc., are being used in industrial applications. Condition-based maintenance of rotating machinery is a common practice where the machine's condition is monitored constantly, so that timely maintenance can be done. Since modern machines are complex and the amount of data to be interpreted is huge, we need precise and fast methods in order to arrive at the best recommendations to prevent catastrophic failure and to prolong the life of the equipment. In the present work using vibration characteristics of a rotor-bearing system, the condition of a rotating machinery (electrical rotor) is predicted using an off-line expert system. The analysis of the problem is carried out in an Object Oriented Programming (OOP) framework using the finite element method. The expert system which is also developed in an OOP paradigm gives the type of the malfunctions, suggestions and recommendations. The system is implemented in C++.

Agricultural mechanization is essential to increase farmers’ income in modern agriculture. However, the use of machinery for crop production in China is quite inefficient. To understand the obstacles limiting farmers’ use of machinery, we conducted face-to-face interview surveys with 1023 farmers (including cooperative directors, machine operators, and farmers without machines) in two major cereal-producing regions with large differences in farming scale: the North China Plain (2.7 ha per capita) and the Northeast China Plain (12.8 ha per capita). The results revealed that farmers in both regions had strong will to use machines. The obstacle preventing farmers from buying machines was the lack of machinery training in the Northeast China Plain and land fragmentation in the North China Plain. Among different farmer groups, land fragmentation was the main barrier for cooperative directors. Farmers without machines thought that there was lack of machinery training and that the cost of machinery purchase was high. Machine operators believed that machine maintenance was too expensive. The income and age also had an effect on the different groups of farmer. It is concluded that, to improve mechanization efficiency and stimulate farmers’ intention to use machinery, the government should make policies to encourage the merge of fragmented farmlands, provide targeted subsidies for agricultural machinery, and organize machinery training in an efficient way.

This article examines previous studies of anthropomorphized machinery in children’s literature and posits that paying particular attention to machinery specifically anthropomorphized as children yields insightful analytic results. Earlier studies have suggested anthropomorphized machinery softens large machines and renders them less threatening. The author argues that pedomorphized machines (machines given not just human, but specifically children’s characteristics) should be studied not for what new meanings they bring to the machines, but for new meanings they bring to the construct of childhood. Rather than humanizing the machine, pedomorphic machinery blends childhood innocence and traits of James Kincaid’s “Child Botanical” with ideas of power, mobility, and freedom. These images reveal a deep unease with the coupling of childhood and technology.

In a continuous system of production in open-cast coal mining, in addition to the basic machinery which consists of highly productive machines (bucket-wheel excavators, bucket-chain excavators, spreaders, conveyor-belt transporters, etc.) that provide an uninterrupted exploitation of mineral ores, the usage of auxiliary machinery is also necessary. The auxiliary machinery provides the possibility of using the capacities of basic machinery adequately and timely. Further, it must be mentioned that the auxiliary machinery generates up to 20% of the total mining expenses. Dozers are the most commonly used machines. Choosing the adequate dozer of the right type and manufacturer is of great importance and can be made easier by carrying out an analysis of the existent operational-exploitative parameters. In this paper, the method of grading the operational-exploitative parameters of dozer is defined. The choice of the optimal type of dozer was conducted by using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP).

The machinery degradation process is described by a random process in which failures occur with constant intensity, and with each failure the rate of benefits generated by the machinery item reduces by a random amount. If the machinery item begins to generate negative benefits, it is subject to decommissioning. We get explicit expressions for the average life of the machinery items and the coefficient of variation of the service life. Machine’s value is determined by discounting the flow of benefits from its future use. This allows to link this value with the rate of benefits that the machinery item brings. In cases where there is no information on the amount of such benefits, appraisers rely on the machine’s age. However, different machinery items of the same age may be found in a different condition and therefore are characterized by different values. We offer formulas for calculating the percent good factors reflecting the average decrease in the equipment’s value with age. To take into account the effects of income tax, property tax and inflation, it suffices to adjust the discount rate in the constructed model. It has been verified that the proposed dependencies are in a fairly good agreement with market price data for two different types of construction equipment.

Abstract In this article the existing methods to improve the wear resistance of working elements of agricultural machinery are highlighted and analyzed in detail. The relevance of this problem for domestic producers and consumers of agricultural machinery is the fact that the service life of many elements of domestic agricultural machinery is 1.2-2.0 times lower than similar imported machines. This means that imported machines operate twice as long before repair than our machines. The paper analyses the causes of wear and loss of the cultivator tines’ serviceability. The wear factors causing gradual changes in the size and shape of the working tools, which subsequently lead to the loss of operability, are considered. The data obtained as a result of their study, can be used in the development of technological processes to restore the working bodies of tillage machines.

One of the most important factors of competitive production is mechanization, which enables tasks to be done on time and in a high-quality manner. Nowadays, in Hungary, many distributors deal with the trading of agricultural machines and spare parts. The operating costs of these machines constitute a significant proportion of the expenses involved in agricultural production, and thus the appropriate and inappropriate use of machinery can significantly influence the efficiency of farming. The goal of this study is to present the market of agricultural power machines, examine the operating costs and analyse the causes of changes in the Hungarian machinery market during the past few years. In our research, it can be seen that EU co-financed support for machinery and equipment investment have a great impact on the replacement of power machines and average annual usage, since after EU subsidies are no longer incoming, the number of agricultural machines sold has decreased.

We propose a model describing the decrease in the market value of machines (depreciation) with age. Usually it is characterized by the percent good factor, i.e. the ratio of machine’s value to the value of similar new machinery item. Often, appraisers know about a used machinery item only by its age, but not its performance. Therefore, for the valuation of the machinery item of a known age, they have to use the mean (for machines of this age) of percent good factor. In the proposed model, the state of the machine is characterized by the intensity of the benefits it brings. In this case, the benefits from using the machine in a certain period are defined as the market value of the work performed by it minus operating costs. We describe the change in the intensity of benefits over time by the Wiener process with negative drift. This allows us to take into account the tendency for the performance of machine to deteriorate during operation. The market value of a machine is defined as the maximum mathematical expectation of the sum of discounted benefits from its use. It is shown that it corresponds to the moment the machine reaches a certain boundary state. The parameters of the Wiener process (drift and volatility) are expressed through the known characteristics of the machine's durability, namely the average value and the coefficient of variation of the service life. The dependences of the mean percent good factor of machines on the relative age (the ratio of age to the average service life) are found. It turned out that these dependencies are almost independent of the discount rate and average service life.

The disintegration of the integrated logging enterprises, as well as of the forestry enterprises and the reduced attention of the authorities to the production of specialized machinery and equipment, the logging production process, have led to a decline in the equipment of the logging enterprises with specialized machinery and the effective organization of their operation. Small, privately owned, poorly equipped with machinery logging companies have emerged. Practically we reverted to the technology of the 1960s. Foreign chainsaws are used for felling, delimbing and crosscutting. The skidding operation practically uses general-purpose tractors of МТЗ-80(82) type with the simplest technological equipment – a set of chokers. Some of the larger companies use foreign harvesters and forwarders. According to our research, forestry farms of the Republic of Bashkortostan are in a similar position. In order to increase the level of equipment and improve the organization of its work at the enterprises of the Republic of Bashkortostan we have considered and proposed for use a number of machinery sets. However, practice shows that it is not enough to acquire and equip the production with modern machinery and equipment. A production process must be set up to ensure the effective operation of these machines. Logging as a complex, multi-operated, discrete process can be carried out using a variety of technologies. The most common technology nowadays is the logging and hauling of assortments, for which various harvesting machines and equipment can be used. For the effective operation, harvesting machines performing individual operations are combined into machinery sets. However, current practice shows that it is not possible to match machines and equipment with the same or slightly different capacities. Therefore, the output of such sets is usually equal to, or even lower than, the output of the operation with the lowest capacity. In order to increase the output of the machinery set to the output of the leading machine (the machine with the highest capacity), it is necessary to calculate the modes of operation of machines for specific operating conditions. There are five sets of logging machines offered. The costs that the use of each of them will require are calculated. On the basis of the obtained data it is concluded that in the conditions of the Republic of Bashkortostan it is most economically feasible to use the following set: chainsaw for felling, choker tractor for skidding, two chainsaws for delimbing and crosscutting, lumber carrier for hauling.

Urbanization and low productivity are real threats to the sustainability of organic farming. The adoption of farm machinery plays a vital role in overcoming these threats to ensure a sustainable and more profitable organic farming model. Farm machinery can also increase farmland yield and reduce the need for labor, although the requirement of significant capital investment often prevents small farmers from buying machinery. There is an increased need to comprehend all relevant elements associated with farming machinery procurement and service delivery. In this article, we provide insight into the impact of different variables of farmers on the adoption of agricultural equipment. A total of 301 organic farmers were surveyed in three districts of Punjab, Pakistan. It was found that the most common machinery concerned herein are tube-well/pumps, tractors, tillage machinery, and thrashers/harvesters. Results from a multinomial probit estimation showed that farm machinery ownership is positively correlated with capital assets, civil infrastructure, alternative sources of power, and credit facility. The findings indicated that policymakers and stakeholders should not concentrate merely on short term planning, such as improving agricultural machinery’s adoption rate. Still, they should also strive to upgrade physical infrastructure and facilities and provide credit services to create an enabling environment that can empower the citizen in adopting large scale use of agricultural machinery for long term sustainability of organic farming.

The use of small-scale machinery proves to be common for agricultural, transportation and other types of work on small-scale farms, peasant farms, family gardens, farmsteads, on hilly lands and inconvenient areas, where the use of traditional powerful machinery is impossible or economically impractical. Small-scale machinery as well as powerful agricultural machinery rarely passes state tests. One of the main reasons for that is a lack of indicator systems for agrotechnical, operational and technological, reliability, economic and ergonomic assessment. The necessity of determining such systems (sets, criteria, indicators) is argued to be important. (Research purpose) The research aims to identify performance assessment indicators for agricultural small-scale machinery by capitalizing on the existing indicators for powerful machines and hands-on experience of exploiting mini-machinery in small farms of Uzbekistan. (Materials and methods) The primary materials are the performance indicators for the agricultural machinery, provided by the existing state and industry standards. The study uses the methods of system analysis, logical thinking, monographic observation and set theory. (Results and discussion) As a result of ranking, several performance indicator systems were selected for the agrotechnical, operational-technological, reliability, economic and ergonomic assessment of small-scale machinery. (Conclusions) It was found out that for the general assessment of the structure parameters, the quality of the technological process and the functionality of small-scale machinery prototypes, it is reasonable to use 26 main and 14 auxiliary indicators. At the same time, a reduction in material and labor resources is expected in the process of testing.

Rotating machinery such as induction motors and gears driven by shafts are widely used in industry. A variety of techniques have been employed over the past several decades for fault detection and identification in such machinery. However, there is no universally accepted set of practices with comprehensive diagnostic capabilities. This paper presents a new and sensitive approach, to detect faults in rotating machines; based on principal component techniques and residual matrix analysis (PCRMA) of the vibration measured signals. The residual matrix for machinery vibration is extracted using the PCA method, crest factors of this residual matrix is determined and then machinery condition is assessed based on comparing the crest factor amplitude with the base line (healthy) level. PCRMA method has been applied to vibration data sets collected from several kinds of rotating machinery: a wind turbine, a gearbox, and an induction motor. This approach successfully differentiated the signals from healthy system and systems containing gear tooth breakage, cracks in a turbine blade, and phase imbalance in induction motor currents. The achieved results show that the developed method is found very promising and Crest Factors levels were found very sensitive for machinery condition.

Rotating machines, such as engines, turbines, or gearboxes, are widely used in modern society. Their mechanical components, such as rotors, bearings, or gears, are the main parts, and any failure in them can lead to a complete shutdown of the rotating machinery. Anomaly detection in such critical systems is essential for the healthy operation of rotating machinery. As the requirement of obtaining sufficient fault data of rotating machinery is challenging to satisfy, a new anomaly detection model is proposed for rotating machinery, which can achieve anomaly detection without fault samples. The model combines vibration energy features, adversarial learning mechanism, and long short-term memory to develop a novel anomaly detection model based on data reconstruction. The model was validated using two different datasets. The proposed model achieves the highest accuracy of 98.90% for anomaly detection under different working conditions, outperforming similar models.

As an increasing number of manufacturers realize the importance of adopting new maintenance technologies to enable systems to achieve near-zero downtime, machinery prognostics which enables this paradigm shift from traditional fail-and-fix maintenance to a predict-and-prevent paradigm has arose interests from researchers. Machine's condition and degradation estimated by machinery prognostics approach can be used to support predictive maintenance policy. This paper develops a novel data-driven machine prognostics approach to assess machine's health condition and predict machine degradation. With this prognostics information, a predictive maintenance model is constructed to decide machine's maintenance threshold and predictive maintenance cycles number. Through a case study, this predictive maintenance model is verified, and the computational results show that this proposed model is efficient and practical.

Woodworking industry plays an important role in the development of Vietnam’s economy. The efficiency of woodworking process depends a lot on the machinery used in the woodworking process. Selecting the best option among a variety of machines is tedious and complex work. However, if the choice of machine is based only on the subjective opinion of the customer, it will lead to mistakes. That mistake is understood that the customer will choose the option that is not the best among the machines proposed by the supplier. Instead, machine selection must be based on all machine parameters. This is called multi-criteria decision making (MCDM). There are MCDM methods, when used it is necessary to know the weights of the criteria. However, there are also methods that do not need to know the weights of the criteria. CRADIS (Compromise Ranking of Alternatives from Distance to Ideal Solution) is a method that, when used, is required to weight the criteria. In contrast, this problem is unnecessary when using the CURLI (Collaborative Unbiased Rank List Integration) method. In this study, three kinds of machinery commonly used for small business in woodworking field were selected. The three kinds of machinery mentioned in this study include wood milling machine, wood saw machine, wood planer. The SPC (Symmetry Point of Criterion) method was used to calculate the weights of the criteria for each kind of machinery. This is the youngest method among the methods of determining the weights for the criteria, it was only found in 2023. The two methods include CRADIS and CURLI were used to rank the machinery kinds. The result showed that in all the surveyed situation, the best alternative is always determined consistently when using CRADIS and CURLI methods. Accordingly, three best alternatives with three different machinery kinds (milling machine, saw machine and planer) were found in this study

Abstract The operation of farm machinery requires an operator with better operational and technical skills to ensure efficient and effective use of the machinery. These competences are necessary to avoid breakdowns during field operations that can affect machine operating costs. This research aims to evaluate the operators’ competence in the operation and maintenance of farm machinery. Field surveys were conducted in three regencies of the Riau Province, namely Kampar, Indragiri Hulu, and Siak regencies. 63 machine operators were purposively selected and interviewed using structured questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using the descriptive-quantitative technique. The type of farm machines operated by the operators in the province included two-wheel tractors, four-wheel tractors, water pumps, rice transplanters, power threshers, combine harvesters, and rice milling units. Most operators can operate more than one type of farm machine. The competency of most operators to repair farm machinery is very poor because of a lack of training. Most operators get skills in machine operators from self-learning and other operators (friends). Therefore, the results suggest that machine operators must be well-trained in operational and technical skills, especially in the excellent operation and proper maintenance of farm machines, to avoid machine damage during field operation.

No previous studies have conducted a detailed environmental impact assessment of any manufacturing processes for new or remanufactured components used in mining machinery. We analyzed the system boundaries and conducted inventory analysis to understand their function and determine their unit role in the machine. Then, we evaluated the environmental impacts of the manufacturing processes for the subparts and assy parts, along with the impact of logistic and remanufacturing processes. In particular, we assessed hydraulic equipment, which is a common component of mining machinery, and conducted a comparative assessment of the environmental impacts of new and remanufactured components. Our results indicated that the global warming potential (GWP) per mining machine throughout its lifecycle (LC) could be reduced by ~194 ton-CO2eq./LC. Assuming that the number of mining machinery in operation at a global scale is 571 machines (or units) per year, the GWP would be reduced by ~110,000 ton-CO2eq./year.

Machines without satellite navigation in fields have a tendency to pass-to-pass errors, especially unwanted overlaps, resulting in waste of fuel and pesticides, longer working times and also environmental damage. This paper evaluates the accuracy of individual machinery passes in fields. Real pass-to-pass errors (omissions and overlaps) in a field were measured on different tractor-implement units with and without guidance system utilization and a comparison between observed guidance arrangements was made regarding final working accuracy and possible benefits from navigation utilization. Additionally, intensity of machinery passes, and repeated passes on soil, as a possible risk for soil compaction in fields, were monitored. The outcomes from our measurements revealed a statistically significant difference between the total area treated by machinery without any guidance system and machinery using precise guidance systems. Concerning the intensity of traffic in fields, it was found out that more than 86% of the total field area was run-over at least once during one cropping season when using conventional tillage practice. The usage of guidance systems can reduce machinery traffic in field to some extent as well and thus improve soil conditions.

Hearing loss caused by excessive exposure to noise at work remains reportedly widespread. Purchase of quieter machinery is an efficient method of reducing both occupational noise exposure and the need to manage risk from noise, but it requires reliable noise information. Machinery supplied in Britain must have noise risk minimized and, where noise continues to present a risk, be supplied with data making clear the potential for noise risk, enabling identification of lower noise models and indicating methods of controlling that risk. In 2012 a pre-market surveillance exercise reported 80% non-compliance with these legal requirements and found it highly unlikely that buyers and users of machinery could make reliable decisions based on the noise data provided with machines. This paper considers the prospect of Sell and Buy Quiet becoming a reality in Britain through: restoring stakeholder confidence in noise data; establishing incentives for stakeholder action; making low noise machinery identifiable; clarifying and simplifying noise legislation; and improving some noise test codes.

Abstract. The prediction of agricultural machinery’s fatigue life is of increasing importance for machine developers who must produce durable and reliable machines for a globalized market with different local operating conditions. Mathematical tools that can model and simulate the variable loading of agricultural machines are necessary for fatigue life prediction. Modeling should be based on measured loads from real-world operations. In this article, the loads of a four-rotor rake were recorded during grass swathing. Markov chains were used to model the transitions between the machine’s operating conditions (in-field swathing and headland turning) and the sequences of turning points present in the load signals. The Markov transition probabilities were trained using the recoded data and then fatigue life was predicted via executing 10,000 Monte Carlo simulations based on the trained Markov models. The differences between the accumulated fatigue damage predicted from the simulations and from the measured data had mean value and standard deviation equal to -22% and 12.8%, respectively. Evaluation of the trained model on new data (not present in the training dataset) that were recorded during swathing on a different grass field resulted in fatigue damage difference with mean and standard deviation equal to 34% and 7.5%, respectively. The fatigue damage difference was in a reasonable region considering how fatigue life is affected by high-amplitude individual cycles. Keywords: Accumulated damage, Agricultural machinery, Durability, Fatigue life.

This paper proposes reducing the periodical information that has been uploaded to the monitoring platform by setting an upload event through the traits of production data from machines. The proposed methods reduce bandwidth and power consumption. The monitoring information is reconstructed by the proposed methods, so history data will not reduce storage in the cloud server database. In order to reduce the halt time caused by machine error, the proposed system uses machine-learning technology to model the operating status of machinery for fault prediction. In the experimental results, the smart machinery monitoring system using the Industrial Internet of Things reduces the volume of information uploaded by 54.57% and obtains a 98% prediction accuracy.

Currently, a relevant task for self-propelled machinery manufacturers is to replace hydraulic system components of the leading global manufacturers with hydraulic system components of alternative Russian manufacturers. The price share of a hydraulic system within the production cost of complete machinery is estimated by experts to be 5% to 25%. At the same time in the Russian Federation, hydraulic system components are produced in insignificant volumes. The components produced in the territory of the Russian Federation often fail to meet state-of-the-art requirements; therefore, it is the foreign components that are mainly used. The task of organizing production of state-of-the-art components for hydraulic systems is a very important one and is aimed at provision of production of modern equipment for various purposes in the Russian Federation. This work was carried out in order to assess the possibility of consolidated inquiry arrangement, qualitative development of the existing production of hydraulic equipment and creation of new production facilities. In the work, a list of typical hydraulic distribution equipment used in the modern special-purpose machinery design was compiled, and a dimensional range of hydraulic distribution equipment parameters was justified. Based on the results of analysis of the special-purpose machinery market, forecast market demand for hydraulic distribution equipment by segments until 2030 was determined. In order to assess the hydraulic distribution equipment market for types of machines not included in this study, based on expert opinions, we assume that their market is 50% of the considered types of machines. The analysis showed that when producing special-purpose machinery, hydraulic distribution equipment from various manufacturers is used, and hydraulic distribution equipment is one of the expensive components taking up to 20% of the total cost of a hydraulic system of special-purpose machines. The hydraulic distribution equipment potential market capacity in the Russian Federation in 2030 perspective will amount to 1.34 million pcs for a total of 56.9 billion rubles.

This article considers problems arising from conventional techniques used to diagnose faults in the rolling-element bearings of rotor-bearing systems, with dampers used in centrifugal milk processing machinery. Such machines include milk separators and related processing machinery. The article asserts that where the rotor-bearing system is equipped with vibration dampers, conventional fault diagnostic measurements produce inadequate results. Hence, for rotor-bearing systems of this type, this article suggests a different way to diagnose faults in bearings and monitor conditions.

Streszczenie:
The paper deals with the study of the relationship between agricultural development of and agricultural engineering. Production output of certain types of machines and equipment for agriculture are examined. The dynamics of production performance in plant growing and stockbreeding is analyzed. The dynamics of such agricultural development indices as net income, subsidies, taxes, net value added, fixed capital application, etc. are considered. The tripling of output and a steady growth of net profit of agricultural producers are established. It is proven that farm equipment upgrading is less active than net income growth, and thus it was determined that enterprises have the necessary financial resources to generate demand for agricultural machinery. The peculiarities of agricultural machinery production in Ukraine at the present stage are revealed, in particular the causes and consequences of such a situation in production machinery for agricultural enterprises. Two opposite trends in agricultural machinery production are identified, namely, the decline in the production of complex, expensive machinery and the increase in the production of less costly appliances. The condition of the durable equipment in agriculture is analyzed by identifying their value and the degree of wear. Consequences of the increase in the quantity and quality of used machinery in agriculture are revealed. The requirements of agricultural enterprises for the quality of agricultural machinery are identified, and their classification by the requirements for quality, value and service is worked out. The quality requirements include technical and functional characteristics; value requirements consist of equipment prices, discounts, and value-added services. Service requirements comprise quality assurance of information, organizational and maintenance services. In accordance with the established requirements, technical, organizational, economic and social ways to meet these requirements were developed.
