Field samples of Rhipicephalus(Boophilus) microplus from the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, were assessed using the following methods: larval packet test (LPT), larval immersion test (LIT) and syringe immersion test (SIT). The following parameters were determined for each population and for the Mozo susceptible reference strain: lethal concentration for 50% (LC50) with its 95% confidence interval (95% CI), regression line slope and resistance ratio (RR). Using the LPT, only one population was susceptible to amitraz, presenting a RR of 1.9. Using the same technique, the other populations presented RRs of between 92.9 and 3445.8 and were considered resistant. The LC50 of the Mozo strain calculated using the LPT, LIT and SIT was 2.9, 27.3, and 52.7 µg/mL, respectively. In general, a good fit to the probit statistical model was only achieved using the LPT. The results obtained in this study impair recommendations for using the LIT and SIT to diagnose amitraz resistance in R. (B.) microplus populations. Additional studies are required to improve the sensitivity of these tests in relation to the LPT.

Abstract Studies suggest that lymphatic pump techniques (LPT) enhance immunity and resistance to infection, but direct evidence of this has not been documented. In this study, the immediate effects of LPT on thoracic duct lymph flow and leukocyte output was measured. Lymph flow was measured and lymph was collected at baseline and during LPT. The baseline leukocyte count was 4.8 ± 1.7 x 106 cells/ml, and LPT increased leukocytes to 11.8 ± 3.6 x 106cells/ml (P<0.05). While macrophages, neutrophils, total lymphocytes, T cells and B cell numbers were similarly increased during LPT, their relative percentage in lymph was unaltered by LPT; however, IgA antibody forming B cells increased from 5.8% at baseline to 17% during LPT. Furthermore, LPT enhanced lymph flow 4-fold. Leukocyte flux was computed from the product of lymph flow and cell count. LPT enhanced leukocyte flux from 8.2± 4.1 x 106total cells per min to 60 ± 25 x 106cells per min. In summary, LPT significantly increased both thoracic duct lymph flow and leukocyte count, so lymphatic leukocyte flux was markedly enhanced. In addition, our data suggests that LPT can act preferentially on mucosal tissues, revealing a source of these mobilized leukocytes. Enhanced mobilization and lymphatic transport of immune cells during abdominal compression is likely an important mechanism responsible for the increased immune responses of patients treated with LPT.

The present study assesses histopathologically and histomorphometrically the effects of light-emitting diode (LED) photobiomodulation therapy (LPT) on bone healing in BioOss-filled femoral defects of rats. It has been reported that LPT modulates cellular metabolic processes, leading to an enhanced regenerative potential for biological tissues. Thirty-six male Wistar rats with femoral bone defects were divided into 4 groups: defect group (empty bone defect, without application of LPT), graft group (bone defect filled with BioOss, without application of LPT), (defect+LPT) group (empty bone defect, with application of LPT), and (graft+LPT) group (bone defect filled with BioOss, with application of LPT). An OsseoPulse LED device (wavelength: 618 nm; output power: 20 mW/cm2) was initiated 24 hours postsurgery and performed every 24 hours for 7, 14, and 21 days. The LPT-applied and BioOss-filled defects presented a higher amount of new bone formation with trabeculae formation. These defects showed statistically significant lower values of inflammation severity, and fewer remnants of biomaterial were present. Within the limitations of this study, LPT has positive effects on bone healing histopathologically and histomorphometrically for the defects filled with BioOss 3 weeks after the rats' femora injury.

This article discussed the problem of flow shop scheduling to minimize the makespan. The purpose of this article is to develop the LPT and Branch And Bound (LPT-Branch And Bound) algorithms to minimize the makespan. The proposed method is Longest Processing Time (LPT) and Branch And Bound. Stage settlement is divided into 3 parts. To proved the proposed algorithm, a numerical experiment was conducted by comparing the LPT-LN algorithm. The result of the numerical experiment shows that LPT-Branch And Bound's proposed algorithm is more efficient than the LPT-LN algorithm.

Abstract Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by synovial inflammation, cytokine production and lymph node collapse. Lymphatic pump treatment (LPT) is an osteopathic manipulative treatment used to reduce edema through increasing lymphatic circulation. This study examined the therapeutic potential of LPT on rats with adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA). We hypothesize that LPT would lessen joint inflammation through increasing lymphatic drainage resulting in the reduction of cytokines in synovial space. AIA was induced in female Lewis rats and randomly placed into a LPT groups or sham groups. Experiments were repeated using different LPT protocols varying the frequency and number of LPT treatments. However in each experiment LPT consisted of rhythmically pressing below the rib cage once a second for 30 seconds, while the sham group was held for 30 seconds. Joint inflammation was determined by measuring ankle circumferences and by articular index scoring. Ankles were collected and homogenized to determine changes in synovial cytokine levels by magnetic immunoassays and ELISA. Clustering LPT treatments three-times a day at the peak of joint inflammation had the greatest impact on arthritis. Animals treated with LPT in this manner exhibited significantly reduced ankle edema and inflammation. Additionally, synovial levels of inflammatory cytokines (GRO, IL17, and IL-6) were reduced with LPT. These results indicate that LPT can reduce joint edema and inflammation in a rat model of RA.

Abstract Lymphatic pump treatments (LPT) are used by osteopathic physicians to treat edema and infection. In animals, LPT increases lymph flow and leukocyte numbers, which may enhance protection against infection and cancer. To determine if LPT would enhance anti-tumor immunity and reduce tumor formation in the lungs, F344 rats were injected intravenously with MADB106. Rats received no treatment (control), 4 min of light touch under anesthesia (sham), or 4 min of LPT under anesthesia, for 7 days. At day 8, tissues were measured for tumors and leukocyte numbers/activities. Serum was measured for vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C). LPT reduced solid tumors and increased B cell, CD4+ T cell, CD8+ T cell, NK cell and macrophage numbers in the lungs. In addition, Leukocytes isolated from the lungs of LPT rats secreted more IL-2, IL-10 and IFN-γ but did not enhance tumor lysis in vitro. Previously we demonstrated LPT mobilizes gut-derived lymphocytes into lymphatic circulation; therefore, we stained pulmonary lymphocytes for the gut marker α4β7. LPT increased α4+β7+ leukocytes in the lungs, suggesting LPT mobilizes gut-derived leukocytes into the lungs. Finally, there were no differences in the levels of VEGF-C between treatment groups, suggesting that LPT does not promote lymphangiogenesis in this model. Our data suggests LPT inhibits pulmonary tumor formation by enhancing the numbers of leukocytes with anti-tumor activities that migrate into the lungs.

The standard penetration test (SPT) split-spoon sampler is too small for investigations in gravelly soils. For this reason, several researchers have developed scaled-up versions of the SPT, commonly referred to as "large penetration tests" (LPT), and attempted to correlate the measured blow counts to SPT blow counts. Several LPTs have been in use worldwide; each with different drill rods, sampler dimensions, and hammer energies; hence existing published LPT–SPT correlations differ for each system. This paper summarizes the LPT data in the literature and presents a fundamental method for predicting LPT–SPT correlations. The proposed method is based on wave equation analyses of SPT and LPT and considers variations in test equipment, penetration resistance, and energy. It is shown that the method provides a unified approach for assimilating the various published LPT–SPT correlations. Additional SPT and LPT data were collected at a sand research site to check the proposed method and to expand the LPT database. The observed and predicted correlation factors are shown to be in good agreement. The proposed correlation method will be useful as a logical framework for the comparison of LPT data collected throughout the world. Additional research will be required to extend this procedure to gravel sites.Key words: large penetration test, LPT, fundamental correlation method, wave equation analysis, grain size effects.

The objective of this study was to investigate the validity of power measurement techniques utilizing various kinematic and kinetic devices during the jump squat (JS), squat (S) and power clean (PC). Ten Division I male athletes were assessed for power output across various intensities: 0, 12, 27, 42, 56, 71, and 85% of one repetition maximum strength (1RM) in the JS and S and 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90% of 1RM in the PC. During the execution of each lift, six different data collection systems were utilized; (1) one linear position transducer (1-LPT); (2) one linear position transducer with the system mass representing the force (1-LPT+MASS); (3) two linear position transducers (2-LPT); (4) the force plate (FP); (5) one linear position transducer and a force plate (1-LPT+FP); (6) two linear position transducers and a force place (2-LPT+FP). Kinetic and kinematic variables calculated using the six methodologies were compared. Vertical power, force, and velocity differed significantly between 2-LPT+FP and 1-LPT, 1-LPT+MASS, 2-LPT, and FP methodologies across various intensities throughout the JS, S, and PC. These differences affected the load–power relationship and resulted in the transfer of the optimal load to a number of different intensities. This examination clearly indicates that data collection and analysis procedures influence the power output calculated as well as the load–power relationship of dynamic lower body movements.

3543 Background: Numerous trials have examined the prognostic and predictive value of the LPT in mCRC, but little is known about the predictive value of LPT on different maintenance strategies. We analyzed progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) from start of maintenance according to LPT in patients (pts) from the AIO KRK 0207 trial. Methods: Following a 24-week standard induction 471 pts were randomized to FP/Bev, Bev mono or no treatment with 454 pts being evaluable for PFS. Right sided primary tumors were defined as located in the caecum, ascending colon, transverse colon up to the splenic flexure; left colon was defined as splenic flexure, descending and sigmoid colon and rectum. Results: Data on LPT was available in 414 pts. for PFS (91%). LPT was left sided (LPTl) in 291 (70%) and right-sided (LPTr) in 123 (30%) of pts, respectively (remaining pts: status was either unknown, n = 37 or LPT was located in both regions, n = 3). Median PFS1 was 3.9 months (mos.) for LPTr and 5.3 mos. for LPTl (p = 0.11; HR 1.19, 95%CI 0.96 - 1.48). Analyses on PFS did not demonstrate a major predictive impact of LPT on the efficacy of the three maintenance strategies. The pairwise comparison of treatment arms showed a better PFS for FP/Bev vs no treatment independent from LPT (left: p < 0.0001; HR = 2.39, 95%CI 1.73-3.31; right: p = 0.011; HR 1.78, 95%CI 1.14-2.80). In addition, Bev mono vs no treatment was superior in LPTl (p = 0.0032; HR 1.54, 95%CI 1.15-2.06) with less difference in LPTr (p = 0.17; HR 1.36, 95%CI 0.87-2.14). Analysis for OS (429 evaluable pts) confirmed the strong prognostic impact of LPT (left vs right: 24.0 vs 16.7 months; p < 0.0001; HR = 1.65, 95%CI 1.32 - 2.06), but without major interaction between LPT and maintenance arms. The impact related to RAS mutational status will be reported. Conclusions: The strong prognostic factor of the LPT is confirmed in pts with mCRC undergoing Ox/FP/Bev induction therapy while there seems to be no major predictive impact of LPT on different maintenance strategies. Abstract Laser power transmission (LPT) is considered a potentially efficient way for power delivery, especially in long-distance wireless applications and harsh hazardous environmental conditions. In contrast to other wireless power transmission (WPT) methods, LPT has many advantages such as lower device size, focused transmitting direction and high power density. With the development of technology, LPT has been widely adopted in several fields. In conservative industries, the utilisation of LPT can resolve the limitation problem in a wired connection. The adverse influence of electromagnetic interference (EMI) concerning application and high-temperature fields can be reduced. This paper will give a simple review of LPT and demonstrate the basic concept of a photoelectric emitter, transmission channel and receiver material. Based on the recent research about diode laser beam combining technology and high-efficiency multi-junction photovoltaics (PV) materials, the advised LPT devices for simple application as laser power motor will be simply discussed.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the effects of two different treatment options for the correction of left displaced abomasum (LDA) on milk yield, hematological, electrolyte parameters, lactate and cortisol concentrations in primiparous cows. Twenty four Holstein cows were randomly assigned into three groups: cows treated with one-step laparoscopic abomasopexy (LPS, n=8), cows treated by left paralumbar omentopexy (LPT, n=8) and healthy cows (CON, n=8), matched by parity and days in milk. Blood samples were collected before (D0) and after (D0’) surgery, and 1 (D1), 3 (D3), 10 (D3) and 30 (D30) days following surgery. LPS and LPT cows at D0 as well as LPT cows at 30 d following surgery had lower milk yield than CON cows (P<0.05), while the service period was higher in LPT than in CON (P<0.05). WBC was lower at D0 as well as Hb and Ht at D0 and D0’ in CON group than those of LPS and LPT (P<0.05). Hyponatremia, hypochloremia and hypokalemia at D0 and D0’ were observed in LPS and LPT. In addition, LPT cows had lower Na and Cl at D1 and D3 and lower K at D1 than CON (P<0.05). Impaired hydration in LPS and LPT cows was accompanied by higher concentrations of lactate at D0, D0’, D1 and D3 (P<0.01) and cortisol at D0 and D0’ (P<0.01) compared with CON group, while LPT had higher cortisol at D0’ than LPS (P<0.05). These results indicated that LPS has the potential to improve the convalescence period of LDA in primiparous cows.

Twenty-four healthy castrated male Holstein growing cattle, with similar body weight (301 ± 11.5 kg), were enrolled in this study and randomly allocated into two groups (12/pen). Holstein growing cattle in the LPT (low NFC/NDF pelleted TMR) group were fed basal pelleted TMR with a low NFC/NDF ratio (NFC/NDF = 1.07), while the HPT (high NFC/NDF pelleted TMR) group were fed with a high NFC/NDF ratio diet (NFC/NDF = 1.71). The results showed that: (1) Body measurements were found to be increased for the LPT group (p < 0.05); compared with the HPT group, feed intake to gain ratio and feed cost in the LPT group were decreased by 12.24% and 15.35%, respectively (p < 0.01). Compared with the HPT group, the LPT group tended to increase chest girth. (2) Digestibility of DM and NDF in the LPT group was higher (p < 0.05) than in the HPT group, being increased by 3.41% and 4.26%, respectively, and increased digestibility of ADF in the LPT group was significant (p < 0.01). (3) The daily feed consumption of NDF in the LPT group was higher than that in the HPT group and the daily rumination time and chewing time in the LPT group were longer than that in the HPT group (p < 0.05). (4) Compared with the LPT group, the parameter of pH, microbial protein and acetate: propionate (p < 0.05) in the HPT group were decreased by 8.57%, 12.46% and 23.71%, respectively. In contrast, the concentration of total volatile fatty acids, acetate and propionate were higher (p < 0.05) in the HPT group, and increased by 13.49%, 19.59% and 52.70%, respectively. (5) Compared with the LPT group, rumen fluid in the HPT group diet up-regulated the mRNA expression levels of BRECs pro-inflammatory factor IL-1β and TNF-α (p < 0.05), and meanwhile, up-regulated the mRNA expression levels of BRECs pro-inflammatory factor IL-6 (p < 0.01); compared with the LPT group, rumen fluid in the HPT group diet up-regulated the mRNA expression levels of CCL28 and CCL20 (p < 0.05) chemokines in CCL types of BRECs; in addition, compared with the LPT group, rumen fluid in the HPT group up-regulated the mRNA expression levels of CXCL2, CXCL3, CXCL9 and CXCL14 chemokines in CXCL types of BRECs (p < 0.01), and the mRNA expression levels of the CXCL5 chemokine tended to be increased (p = 0.06).

Abstract Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease involving dysfunctional lymphatic circulation leading to edema. The adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) rat model was used to study the effect of lymphatic pump treatment (LPT) on the expression levels of inflammatory cytokines and lymphangiogenesis within the draining popliteal lymph nodes (PLN). PLN from both control and LPT treatment groups were harvested, and their cDNA were analyzed by qPCR to determine the levels of cytokines, VEGF-C, and VEGFR-3. Additionally, immunohistochemistry was used to visualize the expression of VEGF-C and VEGFR-3 and flow cytometry was used to quantify leukocyte cell types in the PLN. The LPT group showed a decrease in ankle circumference and arthritis grade a few days after the initiation of treatment. Flow cytometry of popliteal lymph nodes showed an increase in CD8, CD4, and CD3 cells in arthritic rats, however cell populations were not significantly different between treatment groups. The qPCR data indicated that the LPT group had a slight reduction in levels of IL-17a, IL-4, IL-6, and IL-1β. IHC showed that the PLN from the LPT group had the highest expression area of VEGF-C and the lowest expression area of VEGFR-3 compared to control. In conclusion, The LPT group showed a reduction in ankle circumference and arthritis score, suggesting that LPT helped alleviate edema and inflammation. When compared to control, the LPT group had lower expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and elevated levels of VEGF-C, an important lymphatic vessel growth factor, in PLN. Thus, the data suggests that LPT may elevate the swelling and inflammation in rat AIA through the reduction of inflammatory cytokines and the elevation of a lymphatic growth factor.

Purpose With the condition monitoring system on airplanes, failures can be predicted before they occur. Performance deterioration of aircraft engines is monitored by parameters such as fuel flow, exhaust gas temperature, engine fan speeds, vibration, oil pressure and oil temperature. The vibration parameter allows us to easily detect any existing or possible faults. The purpose of this paper is to develop a new model to estimate the low pressure turbine (LPT) vibration parameter of an aircraft engine by using the data of an aircraft’s actual flight from flight data recorder (FDR). Design/methodology/approach First, statistical regression analysis is used to determine the parameters related to LPT. Then, the selected parameters were applied as an input to the developed Levenberg–Marquardt feedforward neural network and the output LPT vibration parameter was estimated with a small error. Analyses were performed on MATLAB and SPSS Statistics 22 package program. Finally, the confidence interval method is used to check the accuracy of the estimated results of artificial neural networks (ANNs). Findings This study shows that the health conditions of an aircraft engine can be evaluated in terms of this paper by using confidence interval prediction of ANN-estimated LPT vibration parameters without dismantling and expert knowledge. Practical implications With this study, it has been shown that faults that may occur during flight can be easily detected using the data of a flight without expert evaluation. Originality/value The health condition of the turbofan engine was evaluated using the confidence interval prediction of ANN-estimated LPT vibration parameters.

This work proposes and evaluates various improvements to a circular local path template (LPT) that we have designed in the past to estimate driver intents and to provide navigation assistance to wheelchair drivers. This LPT may also be useful in other mobile robotics applications such as for intuitive teleoperated control, for fast collision checking in path planning or for obstacle avoidance algorithms. The LPT consists of a large but fixed set of paths in the mobile robot’s local neighborhood. Based on an efficient look-up table, the LPT paths’ lengths are adjusted such that they are collisionfree. However, experiments have shown that in dense environments insufficient circular paths are found, which impedes correct intention estimation and thus navigation assistance. In this work, the use of clothoidal paths rather than circular paths is evaluated. This substantially improves the capability to find complex paths in dense areas. Furthermore, we adapt the LPT to deal with dynamic obstacles of random shape using motion prediction estimates of these objects.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan Lembar Penugasan Terstruktur Keterampilan Argumentasi (LPT-KA) pada materi laju reaksi yang layak digunakan sebagai perangkat pembelajaran kimia. LPT-KA dikembangkan menggunakan metode Research and Develompment (R&D) untuk menghasilkan LPT-KA yang memenuhi kriteria kelayakan validitas, kepraktisan, dan efektivitas. Pada Desember 2020 dilakukan uji coba terbatas terhadap peserta didik SMAN 1 Sidayu dan SMA Assa’adah yang telah memperoleh materi laju reaksi dengan jumlah keseluruhan sebanyak 15 orang. Intrumen yang digunakan terdiri atas lembar telaah, lembar validasi, lembar angket respon peserta didik, dan lembar tes keterampilan argumentasi. Hasil penelitian didapatkan validitas LPT-KA dengan kategori sangat valid yang memperoleh persentase kesesuaian isi sebesar 83%, kesesuaian indikator keterampilan argumentasi sebesar 90%, komponen penyajian sebesar 83%, dan komponen kebahasaan sebesar 82%. Respon peserta didik terhadap indikator keterampilan argumentasi (claim, evidence, reasoning, dan rebuttal) didapatkan persentase untuk setiap komponen sebesar 100% dengan kriteria sangat praktis. Hasil tes keterampilan argumentasi peserta didik menunjukkan efektivitas LPT-KA yang memperoleh nilai N-gain skor sebesar 0,78 dengan kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan hal tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa Lembar Penugasan Terstruktur (LPT) yang telah dikembangkan dapat dijadikan sebagai perangkat pembelajaran untuk melatihkan Keterampilan Argumentasi (KA) pada materi laju reaksi.Kata Kunci: Lembar Penugasan Terstruktur, Laju Reaksi, Keterampilan Argumentasi

Background: The etiopathogenesis of late preterm (LPT) birth is undetermined. Placental histopathology, which reflects an adverse intrauterine environment and is reportedly associated with preterm labor and neonatal morbidities, has not been studied in LPT infants.Purpose: We investigated placental pathological lesion as markers of an adverse intrauterine environment during LPT labor.Methods: This retrospective case-control study compared placental histopathological and clinical variables between LPT and term neonates. Placental variables included chorioamnionitis, funisitis, hemorrhage, abruption, infarction, calcification, and syncytial knots. Maternal variables included age, substance abuse, pregnancyassociated diabetes mellitus and hypertension, duration of rupture of membrane, antibiotic use, and magnesium sulfate, whereas, those of neonates included gestational age, birth weight, race, sex, and Apgar scores. Standard statistical proedures were applied to analyze the data.Results: Chorioamnionitis (50% vs. 17.8%, <i>P</i><0.001) and funisitis (20% vs. 4.4%, <i><i>P</i></i>=0.002) were more common in term infants. Placental infarction rate was insignificantly higher in LPT infants (25.6% vs. 14.3%, <i><i>P</i></i>=0.08). The mothers in the LPT group were older (30.4 years vs. 28.1 years, <i><i>P</i></i>=0.05; odds ratio [OR], 1.06; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.998–1.12, <i><i>P</i></i>=0.056) and more often suffered from hypertension (28.9 vs. 12.9 %, <i><i>P</i></i>=0.02), and received magnesium sulfate (48.9 vs. 20%, <i>P</i>< 0.001; OR, 2.86; 95% CI, 1.12–7.29, <i>P</i><0.05). Duration of rupture of membrane was higher in term infants (13.6 hours vs. 9.1 hours, <i>P</i><0.001). Chorioamnionitis (OR, 0.33; 95% CI, 0.13–0.79; <i>P</i><0.05) was associated with a lower risk of LPT delivery.Conclusion: Placental infection is not a risk factor for LPT births. There is a nonsignificant predominance of vascular anomalies in LPT placentas. Higher maternal age, magnesium sulfate therapy, and maternal hypertension are clinical risk factors for LPT labor.

The study aimed at investigating the impact of late prematurity (LPT) on neonatal outcome in twins and neonatal morbidity and mortality within LPT with regard to the completed weeks of gestation. The study was conducted in six tertiary obstetric departments from different provinces of Poland (Warsaw, Lublin, Poznan, Wroclaw, Bytom). It included 465 twin deliveries in the above centers in 2012. A comparative analysis of maternal factors, the course of pregnancy and delivery and neonatal outcome between LPT (34 + 0–36 + 6 weeks of gestation) and term groups (completed 37 weeks) was performed. The neonatal outcome included short-term morbidities. The analysis of neonatal complication rates according to completed gestational weeks was carried out. Out of 465 twin deliveries 213 (44.8%) were LPT and 156 (33.55%) were term. There were no neonatal deaths among LPT and term twins. One-third of LPT newborns suffered from respiratory disorders or required antibiotics, 40% had jaundice requiring phototherapy, and 30% were admitted to NICU. The analysis of neonatal morbidity with regard to each gestational week at delivery showed that most analyzed complications occurred less frequently with the advancing gestational age, especially respiratory disorders and NICU admissions. The only two factors with significant influence on neonatal morbidity rate were neonatal birth weight (OR = 0.43, 95% CI = 0.2–0.9, p = .02) and gestational age at delivery (OR = 0.62, 95% CI = 0.5–0.8, p < .01). LPT have a higher risk of neonatal morbidity than term twins. Gestational age and neonatal birth weight seem to play a crucial role in neonatal outcome in twins.

The utilization of the lime (Citrus aurantifolia) peel as a template can improve the adsorbent’s structural properties, which consequently affect its CO2 uptake capacity. Herein, a mesoporous magnesium oxide (MgO-lime (Citrus aurantifolia) peel template (LPT)) adsorbent was synthesized using an LPT. MgO-LPT demonstrated improved structural properties and excellent CO2 uptake capacity. Moreover, another MgO adsorbent was prepared via thermal decomposition (MgO-TD) for comparison. The prepared adsorbents were characterized by N2 physisorption, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. The CO2 uptake of these adsorbents was under 100% CO2 gas and ambient temperature and pressure conditions. MgO-LPT exhibited a higher Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area, Barrett–Joyner–Halenda pore volume, and pore diameter of 23 m2.g−1, 0.142 cm3.g−1, and 24.6 nm, respectively, than those of MgO-TD, which indicated the mesoporous structure of MgO-LPT. The CO2 uptake capacity of MgO-LPT is 3.79 mmol CO2.g−1, which is 15 times that of MgO-TD. This study shows that the application of lime peel as a template for the synthesis of MgO adsorbents is a promising approach to achieve MgO adsorbents with enhanced surface area and thus increased CO2 capture performance. Abstract Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by chronic inflammation mediated by Th-17 cells. Rat adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA) is a Th-17-dependent RA model with dysfunctional lymphatic circulation. We hypothesized that induction of lymphatic circulation would attenuate arthritic inflammation. We utilized Lymphatic Pump Treatment (LPT), an osteopathic lymphatic manipulation, to determine if inducing lymphatic flow would alleviate arthritic inflammation. LPT was accomplished on AIA rats by gradually increasing compression on the chest wall for 5 seconds followed by a rapid release. This technique was performed on the rats for 1 minute 3X/day over 7 consecutive days following the onset of measurable inflammation on day 14 post adjuvant injection. Ankle caliper measurements, articular index scoring, popliteal lymph nodes, peripheral blood, and spleens were collected. The LPT-treated rats fell into two groups. LPT responders and non-responders. LPT responders had significantly reduced inflammation (as determined by both in ankle circumference and index scoring). These therapeutically treated animals also had significantly decreased IL-17 expression in their draining popliteal lymph nodes. These results along with our previous findings indicate that LPT can reduce arthritis, alter lymphocyte trafficking and differentiation in secondary lymphoid organs during inflammation. These data suggest that induced lymphatic circulation using osteopathic manipulation may serve as a therapy for chronic inflammation in autoimmune disorders and may also be an enhancement to current treatments.

Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) was designed to recover exhaust energy from Internal Combustion (IC) engine. The LPT is located downstream retrieved exhaust heat energy from combustion after flowing through the high pressure turbine (HPT). The work output obtained from the exhaust energy is used to drive an electric generator with power output of 1.0kW. These was not done by commercial turbine as the low efficiency resulted when operated. The main purpose of this project is to develop a scaling model for LPT with power output up to 100kW. An existing LPT that was designed with output of 1.0 kW used as guideline to upscale the turbine. Scaling factor was obtained by comparing the baseline with power output. The turbine performance was analysed by using a commercial Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) ANSYS CFX. The study found that the scaling factor f, of 10 can be used to produce a 100kW at passage. Thus, the geometrical parameter will be scaled accordingly. The rotational speed is reduced from 50,000 rpm to 5,000 rpm. The CFD analysis found that 81% of total-static efficiency, ht-s at velocity ratio VR, of 0.68 and the Pressure Ratio PR, of 1.12 producing power of 119.88 kW which nearest with the design point which is at 100 kW. Despite the LPT swallowing capacity is increased by 50 times, the LPT is still limited by the operational choking Pressure Ratio, PR limitation which is 1.4.

AbstractConsidering the asymmetry of the low pressure turbine blade (LPT) wake at a low Reynolds number, the influence of asymmetric wakes which are similar to LPT wakes on the boundary layer of downstream blade rows in the near field is studied in the present paper, in order to increase wake flow prediction accuracy of the downstream blade without increasing the difficulty of the experiment or calculation load. Packb high-lift LPT airfoil was studied with CFX software. Following the analysis of the similarities between the wake generated by the cylinder bar and the triangle bar and the LPT blade wake in the near-field, the boundary layer flow characteristics on the suction surface under the different wakes were compared. In this research, it was found that the wakes of biased triangle bar shared more similarities with the LPT blade wake in the near field than the cylinder bar. Abstract Property taxes are common in countries around the world. Until recently, Ireland was an exception as there was no annual tax on residential property. This paper is a review of the Local Property Tax (LPT) system that was introduced in 2013 and had its first property revaluations in 2021. Using the lens of municipal finance and tax assignment, the rationale, history, features and administration of this new residential property tax are outlined. While recognising country-specific circumstances, lessons, opportunities and challenges are explored with a view to future improvements in the design and implementation of the LPT. Lessons from the LPT experience are the importance of tax administration and the role of the central tax collection agency, and, in terms of design, the need for a tailored approach to suit local circumstances. Challenges include the rates/LPT mix and the relative tax burdens on non-residential and residential properties, the long-term sustainability of the LPT arising from design issues, the current low tax rate and future revaluations, and, finally, the need for regular property tax reform because of political and taxpayers’ opposition to a highly visible, unpopular but good local tax.

The ability to monitor lymphocyte responses is critical for developing our understanding of the immune response in humans. In the current clinical setting, relying on the metabolic incorporation of [3H] thymidine into cellular DNA via a lymphocyte proliferation test (LPT) is the only method that is routinely performed to determine cell proliferation. However, techniques that measure DNA synthesis with a radioactive material such as [3H] thymidine are intrinsically more sensitive to the different stages of the cell cycle, which could lead to over-analyses and the subsequent inaccurate interpretation of the information provided. With cell proliferation assays, the output should preferably provide a direct and accurate measurement of the number of actively dividing cells, regardless of the stimuli properties or length of exposure. In fact, an ideal technique should have the capacity to measure lymphocyte responses on both a quantitative level, i.e., cumulative magnitude of lymphoproliferative response, and a qualitative level, i.e., phenotypical and functional characterization of stimulated immune cells. There are many LPT alternatives currently available to measure various aspects of cell proliferation. Of the nine techniques discussed, we noted that the majority of these LPT alternatives measure lymphocyte proliferation using flow cytometry. Across some of these alternatives, the covalent labelling of cells with a high fluorescence intensity and low variance with minimal cell toxicity while maximizing the number of detectable cell divisions or magnitude of proliferation was achieved. Herein, we review the performance of these different LPT alternatives and address their compatibility with the [3H] thymidine LPT so as to identify the “best” alternative to the [3H] thymidine LPT.

Oral mucositis is a harmful side effect of radiotherapy (RT) on the head and neck region. There are encouraging reports on the beneficial aspects of the use of laser light on the treatment of oral mucositis. This paper reports the efficacy of laser phototherapy (LPT) on the treatment of oral mucositis in a patient undergoing RT after surgical removal of a squamous cell carcinoma with osseous invasion of the maxilla. Palatal and commissural lesions were treated with λ660 nm, 40 mW, ∅=4 mm², in contact mode, 5 x 2.4 J/cm² per point, 14.4 J/cm² per session. For treating the lesion on the patient's nasal mucosa, LPT (∅=4 mm², λ780 nm, 70 mW, 3 x 2.1 J/cm² per point, 6.3 J/cm² per session, contact mode) was used on the external area of the nose. A single dose (2.4 J/cm²) with the λ660 nm laser, as described before, was applied on the entrance of each nostril. LPT was used 3 times/week during 4 weeks. Treatment results indicate that the use of LPT on oral mucositis was effective and allowed the patient to carry on the RT without interruption. However, long-term and controlled clinical trials are necessary to establish both preventive and curative protocols using LPT.

Background. We investigated the influence of laser phototherapy (LPT) on the survival of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) submitted to substances leached from dental adhesives.Method. MSCs were isolated and characterized. Oral mucosa fibroblasts and osteoblast-like cells were used as comparative controls. Cultured medium conditioned with two adhesive systems was applied to the cultures. Cell monolayers were exposed or not to LPT. Laser irradiations were performed using a red laser (GaAlAs, 780 nm, 0.04 cm2, 40 mW, 1 W/cm2, 0.4 J, 10 seconds, 1 point, 10 J/cm2). After 24 h, cell viability was assessed by the 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide reduction assay. Data were statistically compared by ANOVA followed by Tukey’s test (P<0.05).Results. Different cell types showed different viabilities in response to the same materials. Substances leached from adhesives were less cytotoxic to MSCs than to other cell types. Substances leached from Clearfil SE Bond were highly cytotoxic to all cell types tested, except to the MSCs when applied polymerized and in association with LPT. LPT was unable to significantly increase the cell viability of fibroblasts and osteoblast-like cells submitted to the dental adhesives.Conclusion. LPT enhances mesenchymal stem cells survival in response to substances leached from dental adhesives.

Abstract Objectives To evaluate the number of late preterm (LPT) births (between 34 0/7 and 36 6/7 weeks) that could have been prevented if expectant management of preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) had been applied according to new recommendations. Methods A retrospective cohort study included all births at one Swiss center between January 1, 2002 and December 31, 2012. Births were categorized using an adapted evidence-based classification. Two scenarios were considered: best scenario (maximum averted cases) and a conservative scenario (minimum averted cases). Results Among 2017 LPT births (5.0% of all deliveries; n=40,609), 1122 (60.6%) women had PPROM. Spontaneous labor occurred in 473 (42.2%) cases and 649 (57.8%) had induction of labor or an elective cesarean section. In the latter group, 44 (6.8%) had evidence-based indications for LPT delivery and 605 (83.2%) had non-evidence-based indications. Depending on the scenario, the rate of avoided LPT cases would have varied between 4.2% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 3.4–5.2) if the conservative scenario was applied, and 30% (95% CI: 28.0–32.0) for the best scenario. Conclusion Adoption of new guidelines for the management of PPROM will prevent a considerable number of LPT births and help decrease the adverse effects and potential disability associated with late preterm infants.

Above-threshold dissociation (ATD) process of the molecular ions HD+ steered by a femtosecond laser pulse train (LPT) is investigated theoretically using the time-dependent quantum wave packet method. Energy-dependent distributions of ATD fragments are analyzed by using an asymptotic-flow expression in the momentum space. It is found that fragment kinetic energy spectra shift to low energy region with increasing pulse number of LPT. The photofragment branching ratio between the 1sσg and 2pσu dissociation channels is sensitive to the pulse number of LPT. The momentum distribution of the ATD fragments is discussed in detail.

Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah konselor LPT Grahita Indonesia di Banten yang berjumlah 50 orang. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah korelasi pearson. Hasil dalam penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa variabel minat kerja memiliki hubungan yang positif dan signifikan terhadap kepuasan kerja konselor di LPT Grahita Indonesia di Banten, begitu pula dengan variabel profesionalisme yang juga memiliki korelasi terhadap kepuasan kerja konselor di LPT Grahita Indonesia di Banten. Bila minat kerja semakin tinggi maka kepuasan kerja konselor juga semakin tinggi. Begitu juga dengan variabel profesionalisme, dimana semakin tinggi profesionalisme maka akan semakin tinggi pula kepuasan kerja konselor. Berdasarkan perbandingan mean empirik dan mean hipotetik, diketahui bahwa minat kerja dan profesionalisme konselor berada dalam kategori sedang sehingga kepuasan kerja konselor pun berada di kategori sedang.

Tujuan Penelitian, dihasilkan Lembar Penugasan Terstruktur yang Meratifikasi Nasihat Socrates dan Rene Descartes (LPT-SRD) pada materi termokimia. Research and Development (R&D) adalah metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk menghasilkan LPT-SRD yang memenuhi tiga kriteria pengembangan yakni valid, praktis dan efektif untuk dapat dinyatakan layak. Uji coba terbatas telah dilakukan pada tanggal 4 Februari 2022 terhadap 15 peserta didik kelas XI SMA GIKI 1 Surabaya yang telah mendapatkan materi termokimia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LPT-SRD dinyatakan valid dengan hasil Percentage of Agreement (PA) ≥75% dengan Modus ≥4 untuk tiap butir komponen. Uji kepraktisan dalam penelitian ini mendapatkan pada rentang 86,67 – 100% dengan katgori sangat praktis. Uji Efektivitas pada penelitian ini didapatkan dari hasil pengisian tes peserta didik dan mendapatkan kategori tinggi dengan rata-rata n-gain sebesar 0,83. Berdasarkan hasil dari tiga kriteria pengembangan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa LPT-SRD yang telah dikembangkan dapat dinyatakan layak dan dapat digunakan pada pembelajaran kimia
