ABSTRACT Negative issues the arise in public become one determinant of the continuity of an institution. Institutions will gain more value if they can manage the issues into opportunities, but it can also be a threat if they can not prevent the onset of crisis symptoms. Post-operation catching hands conducted KPK to the head of the region, Ade Swara, and wife, Mrs. Nurlatifah in 2014 experienced a crisis of confidence from the community of Kabupaten Karawang. This study will use the management crisis Rhenald Kasali’s, agenda building strategy, dan media relations activities, and describe how the onset of this crisis emerged, the factors causing, and the anatomy of crisis. Prevention of the crisis should be sought so that the institution is able to restore the trust of the community. The appoinment of Mrs. Cellica as Acting Officer of the Regent has been one of the efforts to restore the crisis, because the institution has regained the leadership capable of providing policies for the institutions existance. The results showed that the crisis that occured in Karawang regency is a type of smoldering crisis, where the crisis is not common in the institution. This paper analyses a psychiatric institution resident?s identity (self)- construction processes. Our quest was grounded on constructivist theoretical paradigm that sees identity as a manner a person defines oneself in accordance with offered social repertoire. In other words, the total institution milieu offers limited range of identities to its residents. On the other hand, the latter are not just passive subjects that identity is imposed upon. They are able to use a number of adjustment mechanisms to the knowledge about themselves - ranging from symbolic escape to open resistance against the imposed image about them; to obedience, and we were interested to understand the (supposed) complex dynamic of identity (re)-building in, so-called, special or forensic patients. In order to understand this process and attempting to discover, besides the manifest also the latent layer of the story about self, the local, or personal, identity understanding was examined.

Indonesian local parliaments have an image as a corrupt, closed, outdated, and unreachable institution in the public’s eyes. However, the parliaments have never tried to more actively developing policies which encourage active community participation. The recent adoption of social media by local parliaments seems to be a sign of the parliament’s willingness to encourage greater community contributions. However, little can be understood about the implications of these activities. Moreover, whether social media contributes significantly to community participation in local parliaments. The purpose of this study is to explore the use of social media by local parliaments. This study employed qualitative multiple case studies by conducting a content analysis on Facebook and Twitter in four local parliaments. This study found three faces of local parliaments on social media which are performers, reporters, and marketers. In general, there has been a willingness of local parliaments to become more transparent and participatory institutions. Nevertheless, the massive adoption of social media to promote more participatory democratic practices was conducted half-heartedly by the local parliaments. Practically, if local parliaments want to use social media to enchance their image, they must publish content that promotes openness such as online assembly and educative information.

In this paper, the authors propose a method for medical image retrieval in distributed systems to facilitate telemedicine. The proposed framework can be used by a network of healthcare centers, where some can be remotely located, assisting in diagnosis without the necessary transfer of patients. Security and confidentiality issues of medical data are expected, which are handled at the local site following the procedures and protocols of each institution. To make the search more effective, the authors introduce a distributed index based on features that are extracted from each image. Considering network bandwidth limitations and other restrictions that are associated with handling medical data, the images are processed locally and a pointer is distributed in the network. For the distribution of this pointer, the authors propose a function that maps the pointer of each image to a node with similar contents.

Crisis can occur in all organizations and institutions both private and government. It can be caused by many factors, both internal and external, which one of which is the environmental changes that requires an institution to adapt. National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) is a governmental institution that has successed in the socialization of Family Planning Program in the 1960s-1990s by reducing the rate of population growth. After post-reform era happened in Indonesia, Total Fertility Rate (TFR), children average number from childbearing age couples stagnant in 2,6. Environmental changes marked by Regional Autonomy Regulations (OTDA) arrangement in January 2004 where authority of the Central Government including FP Program is devolved to Local Governments. OTDA associated with political and economic policies impacts on institutional, budget, and personnel availability. This article is using qualitative method, explaining BKKBN as a government institution in organization communication crisis after OTDA enactment. The FP Program that proven improved society welfare is no longer a priority. Communication was only one command from Central Government to Local Government, in post-reform era it hampered, as most District Heads are more concerned with short-term development because of their short tenure. The budget support even personnel for the socialization of FP Program is reduced and some have none at all. There are four important stages in the crisis by Steven Fink, prodromal stage, the acute stage, chronic stage, and resolution stage. There must be different communication strategies at each stage. BKKBN need to regain public trust to overcome the crisis. According to Hardjana, reputation is crisis antithesis and the crystallization of the image. Determining the right communication strategies is needed by BKKBN as a strategic institution in improving society welfare to regain their confidence to achieve institution’s goal, decrease TFR which impact the declining rate of population growth in Indonesia. Keywords: Crisis, Communication Management, Reputation, Government

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to identify and discuss operative nuances utilizing image guidance in the surgical management of aggressive sacral tumors. METHODS The authors report on their single-institution, multi-surgeon, retrospective case series involving patients with pathology-proven aggressive sacral tumors treated between 2009 and 2016. They also reviewed the literature to identify articles related to aggressive sacral tumors, their diagnosis, and their surgical treatment and discuss the results together with their own experience. Information, including background, imaging, treatment, and surgical pearls, is organized by tumor type. RESULTS Review of the institutional records identified 6 patients with sacral tumors who underwent surgery between 2009 and 2016. All 6 patients were treated with image-guided surgery using cone-beam CT technology (O-arm). The surgical technique used is described in detail, and 2 illustrative cases are presented. From the literature, the authors compiled information about chordomas, chondrosarcomas, giant cell tumors, and osteosarcomas and organized it by tumor type, providing a detailed discussion of background, imaging, and treatment as well as surgical pearls for each tumor type. CONCLUSIONS Aggressive sacral tumors can be an extremely difficult challenge for both the patient and the treating physician. The selected surgical intervention varies depending on the type of tumor, size, and location. Surgery can have profound risks including neural compression, lumbopelvic instability, and suboptimal oncological resection. Focusing on the operative nuances for each type can help prevent many of these complications. Anecdotal evidence is provided that utilization of image-guided surgery to aid in tumor resection at our institution has helped reduce blood loss and the local recurrence rate while preserving function in both malignant and aggressive benign tumors affecting the sacrum.

Background and purposeTo assess the performance of dual energy unenhanced CT in the detection of acute ischemia after mechanical thrombectomy.MethodsRetrospective study, approved by the local institutional review board, including all patients that underwent intra-arterial thrombectomy in our institution over a period of 2 years. The presence of acute ischemia and hemorrhage was evaluated by three readers. Sensitivity and specificity of the non-contrast CT weighted sum image (NCCT) and the virtual non-contrast reconstructed image (VNC) were estimated and compared using generalized estimating equations to account for the non-independence of regions in each patient.Results58 patients (27 women and 31 men; mean age 70.4 years) were included in the study, yielding 580 regions of interest. Sensitivity and specificity in detecting acute ischemia were higher for all readers when using VNC, with a significant increase in sensitivity for two readers (p<0.001 and 0.01) and a significant increase in specificity in one reader (p<0.001). Specificity in detecting hemorrhage was excellent for all readers.ConclusionsDual energy unenhanced CT VNC images were superior in the identification of acute ischemia in comparison with NCCT.

Many museums spend time and money fruitlessly competing with Wikipedia, creating online information resources and image galleries that will be mostly ignored, as Wikipedia is usually the highest ranked search result for any query. Wikimedia Commons can host searchable, downloadable images and Wikipedia can be easily edited by volunteers and specialists; both cost nothing to use and have a global audience. Yet most museums have no Wikipedia strategy, and often their institutional copyright policies – needlessly, for most natural history collections – prevent them from engaging and openly sharing collection information. I’ll illustrate this with the case study of the Critter of the Week project, a collaboration between Radio NZ and the Department of Conservation that relies on the open image libraries of Auckland Museum and Landcare Research. There are simple institutional policies and procedures any museum can take that will support the work of the 70,000 volunteer Wikipedia editors. An institution can also directly host edit-a-thons and Wikipedia events, organise backstage tours for local Wikipedians, and host a Wikipedian in Residence. Subject specialists in a museum can even edit and update Wikipedia themselves, reaching a larger audience than almost any other science communication medium. In some ways, this is the opposite of how GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) institutions are used to working: collaborating with non-experts, releasing imperfect and unfinished content, abandoning branding opportunities, and no longer being the single voice of authority. But if we’re serious about being relevant to our public, we need to meet them where they are – which is on Wikipedia.

Li, Jianyao. "The effects of country and higher education images in mainland Chinese students' intention to enroll in a offshore program". University of Western Australia. Faculty of Business, 2008. http://theses.library.uwa.edu.au/adt-WU2008.0140.

Streszczenie:
Offshore programs have become increasingly popular in countries that are experiencing rapid economic growth and rising demand for higher education. There is no doubt that China is one of the largest markets for offshore programs. However, the offshore program market in China has become increasingly competitive. Currently, institutions from the USA, the UK, and Australia, to name just a few, are offering offshore programs ranging from the professional diploma level to higher degrees such as MA, MBA and PhD. Therefore, understanding how Chinese students select an offshore program is important for competing and surviving in this market place. This study examines the effects of image (i.e., country image and higher education image), attitude, subject norm and perceived behavior control (adopted from Ajzen's theory of planned behavior) in Chinese students' enrollment intentions towards offshore programs from Australia, the UK and the USA respectively. A total number of 1291 valid questionnaires were collected from China for this study. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method was used for data analyses and modeling. This PhD's several major findings have significant theoretical and practical implication. One of the major findings was that country image or its related higher education image doesn't have significant effect on an offshore program evaluation in China. This finding has contradicted most previous studies which suggested that country image had significant impact on whether a consumer purchases the products or brands from a foreign country. The difference between this study and the other country-image studies may be due to the fact that this study studied multiple factors besides country image, while the other studies looked at only the effect of country image on purchasing intention. Although country image or higher education image did not play any significant role in offshore program enrollments, this study found that the image of the partnering or local institution had a significant effect on enrollment intention. Because Chinese students are unfamiliar with a foreign country or their higher education system, they relied heavily on the local institution (e.g., its reputation and quality) to evaluate an offshore program. The findings with respective to image have challenged most previous studies on country image and open a new arena for looking at the effect of country image in behavioral intention. Practically speaking, these findings make universities rethink their offshore program strategies in foreign countries, particularly developing countries. Most university marketers from western countries emphasize on the characteristics of its own (such as the history of the university, the quality of research) when promoting its offshore program overseas. However, this study suggested that the focus should be placed on selecting a good and suitable local partner, as well as emphasizing the characteristics of the local partner. Other major findings were related to the Theory of Planned behavior. This study found that all three components of the TPB, namely, attitude towards the program, subject norm and perceived behavior control had significant effects on enrollment intention. This suggested that for predicting behavioral intention in educational program enrollment, the TPB is a very powerful model.

The inviolability of diplomatic personnel and premises is a cornerstone of interstate relations and international law. As epitomized by the murder of US Ambassador Christopher Stevens in Benghazi, host countries are not always willing or capable to protect foreign diplomats and missions, which have become increasingly vulnerable to terrorism and other forms of political violence. Consequently, states with a large diplomatic presence have complemented host countries protection with a host of additional measures ranging from relocating embassies to fortified suburban locations to the deployment of military, police, and private security guards. By increasing the separateness of foreign envoys from local societies and informing local societies’ perceptions of the sending states, however, diplomatic security policies may not simply protect diplomats, but also reshape the institution and practice of diplomacy. In spite of its theoretical and policy relevance, diplomatic security has received very sporadic scholarly attention. This volume fills this gap by providing a comparative analysis of diplomatic protective policies enacted by the US, China, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Israel and Turkey. Moreover, the book investigates the reasons underlying the evolution of diplomatic security policies over time and their variations across countries, examining the factors underlying the choosing of protective actors and arrangements. It then examines the effectiveness of these arrangements analyzing how diplomatic security policies have been reformed in response to major incidents and the extent to which they can secure diplomats without hindering their ability to interact with local society and tarnishing the image of the sending state.

This chapter examines the ambivalent image of Classical Athens in Dionysius of Halicarnassus’ Roman Antiquities. This image reflects a deep-seated ambiguity of Dionysius’ Classicist ideology: on the one hand, there is no question for Dionysius that Athenocentric Hellenicity failed, and that the Roman empire has superseded Athens’ role once and for all as the political and cultural centre of the oikoumene. On the other, Dionysius accepted Rome’s supremacy as legitimate partly because he believed (and wanted his readers to believe) her to be the legitimate heir of Classical Athens and Classical Athenian civic ideology. As a result, Dionysius develops a new model of Hellenicity for Roman Greeks loyal to the new political and cultural centre of Rome. This new model of Greek identity incorporates and builds on Classical Athenian ideals, institutions, and culture, but also supersedes them.

When Spaniards invaded their realm in 1532, the Incas ruled the largest empire of the pre-Columbian Americas. Just over a century earlier, military campaigns began to extend power across a broad swath of the Andean region, bringing local societies into new relationships with colonists and officials who represented the Inca state. With Cuzco as its capital, the Inca Empire encompassed a multitude of peoples of diverse geographic origins and cultural traditions dwelling in the outlying provinces and frontier regions. Bringing together an international group of well-established scholars and emerging researchers, this Handbook is dedicated to revealing the origins of this empire, as well as its evolution and aftermath. The scope of this Handbook is comprehensive. It places the century of Inca imperial expansion within a broader historical and archaeological context, and then turns from Inca origins to the imperial political economy and institutions that facilitated expansion. Several chapters describe religious power in the Andes, as well as the special statuses that staffed the state religion, maintained records, served royal households, and produced fine craft goods to support state activities. The Incas did not disappear in 1532, and the volume continues into the colonial and later periods, exploring not only the effects of the Spanish Conquest on the lives of the indigenous populations, but also the cultural continuities and discontinuities. Moving into the present, the volume ends with an overview of the ways in which the image of the Inca and the pre-Columbian past is memorialized and reinterpreted by contemporary Andeans.

Reframing Vivien Leigh takes a fresh new look at one of the twentieth century’s most iconic stars. Focusing on Vivien Leigh as a distinctly archival subject, the book draws upon original oral history work with curators, archivists, and fan collectives and extensive research within a network of official and unofficial archives around the world to produce alternative stories about her place within film history. The study examines an intriguing variety of historical correspondence, costume, scripts, photography, props, and memorabilia in order to reframe the dominant narratives that have surrounded her life and career. While Leigh’s glamour, collaborations with Laurence Olivier, and mental health form important coordinates for any study of the star, the book foregrounds a range of alternative contexts that emphasize her creative agency, examining her off-screen labor in areas such as theatrical training, adaptation, war work, producing, protesting, and interactions with her fan base. Part I examines a variety of case studies of Leigh’s screen and stage craft as they emerge from the archive, looking at Leigh’s varied collaborations, her investment in faithful adaptations, and her vocal training. It interconnects star studies, feminist film studies, and performance studies to produce a new take on stardom as creative process rather than stardom as image. Part II turns toward unofficial archives and local museum collections, centering the work of the archivist and the amateur collector and their impact on women’s star histories. It explores Leigh’s archival afterlives as they are constructed by a range of agents and institutions beyond the “official” star archive.

The nineteenth century was a very good century for Congregationalism in England and Wales. This chapter documents the significant numerical growth it achieved during this period, and its energetic efforts in the area of missions, both foreign and domestic. Congregationalists provided the lifeblood of the large, well-funded London Missionary Society, and the most celebrated missionary of the age, David Livingstone, was a Scottish Congregationalist. Throughout this chapter the question of whether generalizations about Congregationalism in England were also true of Wales, Scotland, and Ireland is kept in view. This chapter explores the denomination’s raison d’être in its distinctive view of church polity as local and the way that it was increasingly in tension with the strong trend towards greater union among the churches. Founded in 1831, the Congregational Union of England and Wales waxed stronger and stronger as the century progressed, and Congregational activities became progressively more centralized. Although women were excluded from almost all official positions in the churches and the Congregational Unions and generally were erased from denominational histories, they were nevertheless often members with full voting rights at a time when this was not true in civic elections. Women were also the force behind the social life of the congregations, including the popular institutions of the church bazaar and tea meeting. They were the main energizing power behind works of service and innumerable charitable and outreach efforts and organizations, as well as playing a significant part in fundraising. The self-image of Victorian Congregationalism as representing the middle classes is explored, including the move towards Gothic architecture and the ideal of the learned ministry. A mark of their social aspirations, the Congregational Mansfield College, founded in 1886, was the first Protestant Dissenting Oxbridge college. Congregationalists also gave leadership to the movement towards a more liberal theological vision, to an emphasis on ‘Life’ over dogma. English, Welsh, Scottish, and Irish Congregationalists all participated in a move away from the Calvinist verities of their forebears. Increasingly, many Congregational theologians and ministers were unwilling to defend traditional doctrines in regards to substitutionary atonement; biblical inspiration, historicity, authorship, dating, and composition; and eternal punishment. A particularly important theme is Congregationalism’s prominent place of leadership in Dissenting politics. The Liberation Society, which led the campaign for the disestablishment of the Church of England, was founded by the Congregational minister Edward Miall in 1844, and Dissenting Members of Parliament were disproportionately Congregationalists. Many Christians emphatically and passionately knew themselves to be Dissenters who were relatively indifferent about which Nonconformist denomination they made their spiritual home. In such an environment, Congregationalism reaped considerable, tangible benefits for being widely recognized as the quintessential Dissenting denomination.

This chapter discusses Dmitrii Mendeleev's “Imperial Turn.” Mendeleev had two productive reactions to his rough treatment at the hands of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences. First came disillusionment with the potential of local scientific societies to overcome personal prejudices. He concluded that perhaps such societies were not the best way to mediate cultural conflict in Imperial Russia. As such, Mendeleev began to reinterpret the legacy of the Great Reforms. From believing that they were about turning state power over to a newly created public sphere, he came to believe that the Reforms' significance lay in the power of the bureaucracy to transcend personal animosity for the greater good. In February 1882, Mendeleev outlined a reform program for an institution he had previously exempted from criticism: the Imperial Academy of Sciences. His second reaction to the Academy affair was to take to heart the image of a rugged individualist given to him by the Petersburg dailies.

This chapter shifts focus from Cairo to Alexandria, away from the anticolonial nationalism of the former toward a deliberate cosmopolitanism observable in the latter. From the reign of Muhammad Ali Pasha in 1805 until Gamal Abdel Nasser’s rise in 1952, Alexandria was a veritable second capital to Cairo, and in many ways it was better connected with the Mediterranean world. The informal infrastructure of arts education and exhibition in Alexandria led to a subtler form of Egyptian modernism. Alexandrian artists visualized the multinational atmosphere of their coastal city rather than portraying an outward Egyptian nationalism. In the vibrant oil paintings of the aristocratic lawyer Mahmoud Said (1897–1966), I locate a visual code that echoes the transnationalism of the Mixed Courts, Said’s employer and a pioneering legal institution that adjudicated contracts between the international business communities in Alexandria. I employ this comparison to argue that late Ottoman representations of race repurpose Orientalist idioms to position the author as superior to both colonial powers and local subjects. Through this repurposing, Said visualizes multiple Mediterranean image traditions implicit in Egyptian modernism.

Patient data are increasingly distributed between hospitals using CDs instead of physical films. This introduces problems because different viewers from different vendors are provided, and sometimes viewers are unusable because local software installation is not allowed. In 2004, we started to facilitate the incorporation of image data from CDs into the normal workflow of the hospital by using commercially available software to perform patient reconciliation based on the DICOM modality work list. In the years after the first introduction, a more comprehensive software system was developed which allows for the fast upload of large amounts of patient image data into the normal workflow. Although direct network connection between institutions is currently being developed and deployed, in the next decade CDs will remain to be used and the integration of the data into the normal workflow is a must. Literature shows that other institutions also started to handle the CDs similarly.

This chapter examines local specificity of Shanghai’s public screen culture to contest conceptualisations of public space as subject to the homogenizing effect of globalisation. Berry examines two processes that shape local deployments of the moving image. First, he demonstrates how the drive toward “secular enchantment” is offset by the specific local uses of each screen, which is determined by its social function and institutional context. Second, he analyses Shanghai’s text-based or “walking word” screens as part of a long and varied lineage of putting writing into public spaces. He argues that these local uses are not a “glocal” adaptation of Western standards, but rather, evidence a pattern of coeval development under conditions of rapid proliferation of new media technologies around the world.

This chapter considers the development of both ‘regional’ and ‘local’ funds and institutions – such as Wallimage and Pôle Image de Liège - that are designed to support local filmmaking activity and to entice projects to the city and the surrounding areas. This discussion engages with two key strands: (1) the attraction of co-production finance for ‘regional’ or ‘national’ film projects, and (2) the use of Liège as a production base. The first strand will develop the extent to which ‘regional’ film funds and institutions have production ‘knowledge’ on a local level. This is particularly the case for the Dardenne brothers, Bouli Lanners, Joachim Lafosse, Micha Wald, and Lucas Belvaux, whose films are all shot and located in the metropolitan area of Liège and are co-productions with France. The second strand. focuses on ‘runaway’ and minority-Belgian co-productions and considers how Liège has functioned as a key milieu for international co-productions, and how the city’s post-production facilities have been used for films such as De rouille et d’os (Jacques Audiard, 2012).

It has been argued that civic pride declined after its heyday in the Victorian period but Peter Shapely contests this view, illustrating how in Manchester, a combination of civic pride, social reform and policy rooted in the Victorian period were re-defined over the twentieth-century, albeit retaining a ‘boosterish’ emphasis on the city’s image and reputation, particularly in the 1960s. Postwar planners aimed to construct their own version of a modern cityscape in Manchester delivered through a programme of ambitious building projects whose civic ambitions would have been familiar to their Victorian predecessors. When these aspirations faltered during Manchester’s industrial decline between the mid-1970s and late-1980s, civic pride was maintained by the ambitions of the local press, politicians and prominent figures and eventually harnessed to new regeneration projects, as Manchester’s image was re-invented through high-profile re-development schemes and festivals based on sport and the arts. There were, as Shapely argues, continuities in how governing elites and institutions defined the contours of Manchester’s civic pride and reputation, a cultural hegemony that persisted across two centuries. This was, however, distinct from the sense of civic pride which many ordinary local residents experienced with different kinds of local attachment and identity.

This chapter explores the role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) as a mechanism for embedding a sustainability framework within the Namibian banking sector post-COVID-19, which is currently facing a looming deterioration of asset quality and chronic liquidity crises. A qualitative research approach grounded in thematic analysis of stakeholder interviews and documentary analysis were suitable. The study assessed the foundations of CSR activities in Namibian commercial banks using institutional, legitimacy, and stakeholder theories. Overall, governance, brand image, customer loyalty, market competition, and regulatory pre-emption ranked prominently amongst internal and external institutional factors driving CSR in Namibian commercial banks. The study identified various change interventions for commercial banks, like improved CSR reporting, stakeholder engagement, and preferential pricing strategies for vulnerable people in society. Recommendations include development of a uniform CSR framework in line with international best practices contextualized to local socio-economic conditions.

This chapter explores the complex relationship between Haya and the political party he created. Aware from the moment he entered politics that his life could be in danger, Haya deliberately built a lasting institution with a coherent ideology and a solid organization. Yet he also nourished a cult of personality and demanded total allegiance of his followers, leading some to accuse the party of being a quasi-religious sect. While youth groups socialized young Apristas to be disciplined and loyal, Haya’s critics (often former Apristas) attempted to undermine his image by portraying him as a lover of luxury and pointing to his alleged homosexuality. The tension between party organization and a strong personalist leadership continues to define the party today.

This paper outlines a proposed experimental setup for characterizing the vertical motion of a horizontal circular cylinder through a free surface. Both water entry and exit are studied. The proposed experimental setup will enhance the student’s learning of the hydrodynamic impact phenomena. The experimental study is based on the flow visualization of free surface and surrounding water during the cylinder’s motion. The fluid flow phenomenon around the submerged cylinder is investigated using high-speed digital imaging and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). The proposed experiment is used as part of an undergraduate mechanical engineering fluid mechanics course taught at a university, which aims to educate young male and female engineers for the local oil and gas industry and particularly for the companies involved in sponsoring the institution. The details of the flow visualization system and teaching strategy for implementing this experiment in a Mechanical Engineering curriculum is discussed.

Purpose/Objective: Cervical cancer is the third most common cancer in women worldwide. Definitive chemoradiation is the accepted standard of care for patients especially for locally advanced cervical cancers. Intracavitary brachytherapy (ICBT) is an important part of definitive radiotherapy shown to improve overall survival. Interstitial brachytherapy (ISBT) is generally reserved for patients either with extensive pelvic and/or vaginal residual disease after external beam radiotherapy (EBRT) or with anatomy not allowing ICBT with standard applicators in an attempt to improve local control. We have conducted an observational study for patients who underwent image guided HDR-ISBT at our institute. Materials and Methods: Seven patients; diagnosed as a case of carcinoma cervix; were selected from the period of 2012 to 2015 who received EBRT by IMRT and for whom ICBT couldn’t be done for various reasons. These patients were then taken up for Martinez Universal Perineal Interstitial Template (MUPIT) image based ISBT. A descriptive analysis was done for doses received by HRCTV, bladder, rectum and sigmoid colon. At the end of treatment, early response at 3 months along with overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) was also calculated. Results: All the patients recruited were locally advanced with 3 patients in IIB, 1 patient in IIIA and 3 patients belonging to IIIB. The mean dose received by 95% high risk CTV (HRCTV) by IMRT was 49.75 Gy. Out of 7 patients, 3 were taken up for ISBT due to anatomical restriction whereas remaining 4 patients were included because of lack of dose coverage by ICBT. The mean doses received by 90% of HRCTV, 2 cc bladder, 2 cc rectum and 2 cc sigmoid colon were 20.58 Gy, 2.73 Gy, 3.19 Gy and 2.82 Gy respectively. The early response at 3 months was 57.14%. The DFS at one year and OS at 3 year were 53.6% and 53.3% respectively. Conclusions: Our descriptive analysis of seven patients being treated by image based ISBT have revealed that locally advanced cervical cancer patients for whom ICBT is unsuitable can achieve equitable LRC and OS with a combination of EBRT by IMRT and image based HDR-ISBT.

Streszczenie:
Abstract This work addresses the initiative to use consumer-grade Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or drones, as potential instruments for the evaluation and monitoring of shallow coral reefs in Colombia. This initiative started with the construction of an interdisciplinary team that includes institutions from academia, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, a marine surveying private company, and a German research center. The test was conducted inside the Marine Protected Area (MPA) of Old Providence; an island that is located at the Archipelago of San Andrs, Providencia and Santa Catalina, which includes the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve (the third largest true barrier reef in the world). Field data were acquired by using two DJI RPAS: Phantom 4 Pro and Mavic Air, and geo-referenced diving. In this work, we show the potential for using such technologies with a geometrically corrected mosaic of images of Crab Cay, a small cay located inside the MPA. This project is the first of its kind within the Seaflower Reserve and may support technology-based data collection, increasing the quality of information that can be useful to make important decisions regarding ocean space utilization. Additionally, obtained images will be shared for the benefit of local communities, other stakeholders, and visitors, in a manner that opens up science to broader society, promoting outreach activities and educational tool via photos and videos.
