References are employed in most academic research papers to give credits and to reflect scholarliness. With the upsurge in academic publications in recent decades, we are curious to know how the number of references cited per research article has changed across different disciplines over that time. The results of our study showed significant linear growth in reference density in eight disciplinary categories between 1980 and 2019 indexed in Web of Science. It appears that reference saturation is not yet in sight. Overall, the general increase in the number of publications and the advanced accessibility of the Internet and digitized documents may have promoted the growth in references in certain fields. However, the seemingly runaway tendency should be well appreciated and objectively assessed. We suggest that authors focus on their research itself rather than on political considerations during the process of writing, especially the selection of important references to cite.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the psychosocial factors of development of a literary gifted personality.The article reveals the essence of such psychological categories as: «gifted personality», «age-related giftedness», «signs of giftedness» and «literary gifted personality». The diagnostic features of the biographical interview, as a method of examining of literary gifted personality have been analyzed. While exploring the life path of a person, we see its reflection in the events, circumstances and social environment in which the individual grew up and developed. The features of the influence of reference persons on the development of a literary-gifted pupil`s personality in various age periods are described.It has been proved that the presenceof significant people in the social environment of the child, who are his inheritance examples and support him at all stages of his creative development, is a condition for personal growth.It has been noted that an important motivating factor for the development of literary abilities, especially in the initial stages, is a meeting the need for acknowledgment and recognition.The age dynamics in the reference structure of literary gifted personalities consists in its expansion and complication: preschool age – orientation toward supporting the immediate environment (family and relatives), junior school age – expanding the circle of reference persons (adding friends, classmates, and school teachers); adolescence – displacement of the reference dominance to friends and classmates, to the teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature and the head of the literary club, as well as appearing of virtual reference persons; early adolescence – increasing of the reference rate of virtual persons, the high level of reference of friends, the teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature and the head of the literary club remains the same. Empirically, it has been established that at all stages of the development of a literary gifted personality, a special role is played by the teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature and virtual reference persons (writers, poets, playwrights) who are standards of literary creativity and skill forpupils.

Abstract The present article proposes a methodology for writing genre history that does not proceed from »always already« existing generic norms, but rather describes the processes through which genres and their conventions emerge in the first place. Scholars in the field have long been calling for a mediation between (systematic) genre theory and the (historical) exploration of genres – i. e., generic historiography (see Lamping 2007; Neumann/Nünning 2007). So far, however, the solutions proposed have been classificatory in nature, and have mainly been concerned with taking into account the historical diversity of genres more fully than had previously been done (Hempfer 1973; Fricke 1981). The theoretical and methodological questions raised by genre historiography regarding the emergence and transformation of genres, by contrast, have hardly ever been the focus of sustained enquiry, despite the fact that a historically adequate approach to the history of genres – meaning an approach not based on classificatory models – remains a desideratum to this day. Most contributions to the historiography of genre thus far make use of prototype theory or draw on scholarship analyzing schemata and patterns in order to identify genre norms in their historical setting and describe the correspondences with (and/or deviations from) those norms which may be observed in a given text. Yet the methodological problem here is that, ordinarily, prototype-theoretical and schema-oriented approaches raise systematic rather than historical claims. Thus, a »prototype« is understood to be an abstract, ideal model which might never have been realized historically but is still considered the most »typical« exemplar of a given genre whose individual, concrete manifestations may be described as placed along a scale of relative similarity with that exemplar (Tophinke 1997). By adopting such a perspective, the texts belonging to a certain genre may be categorized without having to draw »hard« (i. e., feature-based) boundaries. However, comparing a single text with an ideal model affords hardly any surplus value regarding the question of the origin and change of genres. Being an ideal model, after all, the prototype is constructed a posteriori, on the basis of all available texts assigned to a given genre; it has never served as an actual point of reference for the production or reception of individual texts in their historical context. A similar methodological difficulty arises with a view to scholarship on schemata and patterns, in that these are usually abstracted from all texts belonging to a given genre (like prototypes) or else are fashioned on the model of supposed »masterpieces«, which all but invalidates their explanatory power in a historical context (Schulz 2012). For the historiography of genres, however, one question of particular interest is a question treated only marginally in scholarship on prototypes and schemata. This is the question of how precisely literary speech acts (Warning 1996) – i. e., certain types of literary representation or the treatment of certain kinds of content – are conventionalized and are thus gradually turned into instances of expectable patterns: patterns to be expected, that is, both on the side of production and of reception. Some scholars answer this question by reference to »normative« works which, they claim, serve as »signposts« for the subsequent production and reception of texts (Voßkamp 1977; Gymnich 2010a). The problem with this position, however, is that it assigns to individual texts an unconditional authority, even though the binding conventionality and literary prestige of any given text only emerges over the course of literary or generic history (Strohschneider 1991). One defining purpose of genre historiography is to describe precisely those processes through which certain literary forms and topics become conventional in the first place – to the extent that any attempt, on the part of scholars, to identify supposedly »pioneering« or »authoritative« works is in stark contradiction to an historical approach to genres. At the same time, research on the history of genres simply cannot start from stable norms or ideal models, which is why it is precisely the constant changes to be observed in the conventional validity of literary speech acts that should be exposed and emphasized. In fact, the notion of »convention« is crucial to the approach proposed in this article, since conventions – different in this respect from norms or rules – do not arise as the result of (allegedly) authoritative postulates but rather establish themselves, over time, through communal agreement (Weninger 1994). The formation of conventions may be traced by analyzing intertextual references to literary speech acts: if a given text refers to a certain type of literary representation – either in order to reproduce it faithfully or to present alternatives to it –, this reference is selected from a wide array of options for referencing, and is thus recognized as being »worthy of reference«. Constant reference to the same (or similar) literary speech acts then leads to the emergence of a corresponding convention, whose validity, however, is itself subject to change: If intertextual relations change in such a way that the type of literary speech act previously conventionalized is no longer chosen for reference – and is disregarded, in fact, in favour of alternative topics or modes of representation –, this will result in an observable change in conventionality. After all, whatever is considered conventional is determined by intertextual processes of consensus-building, and is thus in a permanent state of renegotiation. The concrete methodological approach of the present article starts, therefore, from an analysis of intertextual references, insofar as the processes of conventionalization relevant to the historiography of genres can be traced by examining references between individual texts. If one focuses on the question of how genres – and the conventions governing them – arise, the notion of »single-text reference« is preferable to that of »systemic reference«. After all, »systemic reference« denotes the reference of a given text to an established system and thus already presupposes a genre and its systemic norms – elements not available at the outset of a genre’s history. Rather, any truly historical historiography of genres must strive to demonstrate how a set of literary speech acts gradually (by way of intertextual single-text references) forms a system whose conventions may later be referenced. The formation processes of individual genres may therefore be reconstructed by examining the intertextual single-text references that contribute to the conventionalization of literary speech acts and ultimately form a system in contrast to other literary forms of representation. The present article thus focuses on the Gewordensein – the quality of having become or fundamental »madeness« – of genres as subject to constant historical change. At the same time, it proposes a method for adequately tracing genre emergence and change through the analysis of intertextual references and dynamic processes of conventionalization.

Reference is an important aspect of the learning process, especially in analyzing discourse, both in the forms of scientific texts and literary works such as drama, prose, and poetry. Two concepts of reference are used: the kinds of referents and ways of referring. Kinds of referents include unique or non-unique, concrete or abstract, and countable or non-countable referents. Meanwhile, the ways of referring include a generic or non-generic, specific or non-specific, and definite or indefinite reference. These two concepts are used to identify and categorize referents in the poem “All the World’s a Stage” by William Shakespeare. Categorizing referents can help reveal some of the referents used by Shakespeare in the poem. Analyzing references in poetry can enrich understanding in analyzing literary works more deeply. Even so, the results of each researcher’s analysis may differ depending on how each individual interprets the poem.

The research frames its critical approaches on two axes. The first deals with the "phenomenological concept," relying on its principal propositions, along with a section on procedural intersection based on philosophical comments that literary theorists have made consistent with the specificity of the literary work. This makes "the coupling of phenomenology with the conditions of literature" a key to the method's validity before concluding with the observation of "probability and the signs of appearance" and "reference and the ways of introspection." The other axis explored the references to male seduction in the novel "Pragmatic Love" by the novelist "Alia Mamdouh." It observed the manifestations of reference in the seductive models it contained, where the male character "Bahr" exercised persuasive skill to attract the female "Rawiya," through studies of "reference through the logic of seduction," "reference through imaginative seduction," "reference through the culture of seduction," and "reference through physical seduction." The research concluded with results, the most important of which was that Gadamer and Ricoeur contributed to the crystallization of a phenomenology reconciled with literature. Moreover, the studied novel broke the conventions of seduction and made its areas of effectiveness carry a referential energy that reorders the structure and meaning to achieve implicit plots, the evidence of which the reader creates.

Investigated mostly in a co-dependent relationship with its titular figure – E. Lovinescu (1881-1943), the Romanian literary circle Sburătorul has achieved a paradoxical position in the field of Romanian critical inquiry. On one hand, this particular group is an ever-present reference in research dedicated to the interwar Romanian literary modernist scene. On the other hand, only a few monographic works explore the actual dynamic of this group, and while they are well documented and multi-layered a lot of material remains yet to be explored. The Sburătorul Literary Journals (Sburătorul: Agende literare), kept by E. Lovinescu and subsequently edited and published posthumously by his daughter, Monica Lovinescu, are one of the most valuable yet underestimated bibliographical instruments in Romania. Owing much to this particular instrument, my paper aims to investigate the human resource of Sburătorul literary circle. The methodology of my paper stands at the intersection between network studies, distant reading, and sociology and within these theoretical frameworks I intend to explore the relationships and dynamics between the most active members of the group, in order to “measure” the symbolic capital of the group.

This chapter describes PALAVRAS-DIP, a system for the automatic identification of characters and their social profiles in Portuguese and Brazilian literature. The system has been designed as an add-on module for a morphosyntactic and semantic parser. We tag human named entities (NE) for profession and social position, and use Constraint Grammar (CG relational tags to keep track of co-reference (e.g. pronoun anaphora, zero-subject verbs) and family reations between the characters. The resulting base annotation allows the extraction of character networks. The extraction program recognizes and bundles character name variants and distinguishes between names with a narrative function and simple cultural references. System development was motivated by DIP, a shared-task evaluation on 100 historical novels, where a prototype version achieved reasonable F-scores for character identification (63.4%) and alias resolution (68.1%), but underperformed for family relations (15.5%).

Nidan Panchaka is an important tool of diagnosis. Its five subtypes are Nidan, Poorvaroopa, Roopa, Samprapti and Upshaya. It is an important aspect to diagnose a disease and its stages. Nidan Panchaka not only gives the knowledge of diagnosis but also gives knowledge about prognosis, complications and differential diagnosis. Vi- shamajwara is a type of fever that is characterized by its irregularity. It has five subtypes. It is a very crucial dis- ease, and its features are like many diseases like Malaria, typhoid etc. Nidan Panchaka of Vishamajwara is scat- tered and not mentioned clearly in any Samhita. Literature, grammar and text of all the three were related to each other. It will not function without the support the each other. When we look back at Tamil Literary History, the tenth and the eleventh centuries were considered as the age of texts. This period demonstrated that text writers were more important than the authors. Vaithiyanatha Desikar had written a text to explain Grammar and said: he composed his text to implicit and give clarification over the subject which quoted in the traditional texts. Description: giving meaning for words with an ample number of explanations was called ‘descriptive’ text legacy. For example: while explaining the meaning of a word or object with traditional textual reference it will clarify the respective word with the exact ‘example' quoted in the book. History: while explaining ancient literature and grammar through the historical example of the same period was called historical text legacy. Front Text: using the exact techniques of Professor Nachikiniyar, Senavarayar, Mayilainathar was called ‘front Textual’. It was an independent tradition without the interference of any writers in titles. The above said were the five forms of text. In terms that thirty thousand to first Tagore pilgrimage references were featuring in the texts as indicated. This article aims to clarify how the traditional cognizance and peripheral culture side logs for textual interpretation, how it supports to clarify textual reference.

Establishing literacy model of santri with a good scientific tradition and the contextual dialectic of thought is must be developed. Through the model developed as an effort to reinvent literature of pesantren with religious moderation values is able to become a reference for the design of santri writing training and its application in realizing Wasatiyyah Islam. This research is qualitative method with a descriptive qualitative approach. The data are collected through observation and documentation. The results of this study found two important things; First, the new model of pesantren-based literary with the insight of religious. Second, the contribution of pesantren-based literary model in realizing the agent of peace.

The present study aimed to highlight addition as a translation strategy adopted by literary translators. It also aimed to examine addition with reference to an Arabic translation of the short story “The Sniper” written by O’Flaherty (1923). The researchers adopted the translation-by-addition strategy proposed by Dickins et al (2017) as the theoretical framework for their study. They also conducted a contrastive analysis and developed a taxonomy of types of addition which were identified as per the analysis. The findings revealed that the Arabic translation exhibited numerous examples of addition some of which did not change the meaning, some slightly changed the meaning and others changed the meaning. Based on the findings, the researchers recommend that further research be done on addition as a translation strategy followed by literary and non-literary translators to confirm or challenge the findings of this study.

Literary reminiscences are often used in journalistic texts. They can be implemented into journalistic materials in various forms: it may be a reference to a literary work, characters, other images, or citation of the text. Literary reminiscences are used by the authors of journalistic materials primarily to enhance the emotivity and expressiveness of the text. However, along with this, they also perform an important function of culture transferring. A correlation of literary reminiscences with genres has been traced and it is noted that such technique is most often found in the journalistic genres of art and journalism, in particular in essays, blogs and authors’ columns. The mention of writers’ names, famous characters or the use of fragments of literary works is connected with the functional features of these journalistic genres. The author of a journalistic text, introducing literary reminiscences to it, appeals to the reader’s basic knowledge of literature and, consequently, makes him remember something known, or refer to reference sources to find out the unknown. Literary reminiscences not only update the basic knowledge of the fiction reader, but also become a powerful stimulus for their expansion. Thus, propaganda and popularization of reading are taking place. In the process of research, in addition to general scientific methods, a descriptive and comparative methods have been used. The scientific novelty of the study is that literary reminiscences in journalistic texts are considered in the aspect of reading popularization for the first time. The study may complement the curricula of the courses “Theory and History of Journalism”, “Mass Communication and Information”, “Practical Stylistics”, “Publicism”, “Theory of Social Communications” in the aspect of the role of media in the popularization of reading. Prospect for the further research is a more detailed analysis of literary reminiscences in the media texts, in particular, the search for references to works of Ukrainian literature.

This study aims to determine the dominance of reference sources, types of references, the most cited authors, the availability of collections in the Stiper Institute of Agriculture (Instiper) library and the reference year used by students in preparing scientific papers. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach and bibliometric studies with citation analysis and literary life half-life. The object of analysis in this research is 166 scientific articles published in the journal Agromast published in 2018-2019. The results showed that: 1) types of reference sources or information materials used as references for students in writing scientific papers were dominated by types of references in the form of books (74.90%) and scientific articles (16.10%). 2) The half-life age of the literature cited in the journal Argomast as a whole from 2018 to 2019 is 8 years. 75.59% of the literature that is considered up-to-date or obsolete, while the literature that is considered current is 28.15%. Thus, the literature used as a reference in the Agromast journal 2018-2019 tends to use less up-to-date literature.

Summary: This article analyses literary proteanism in Ramon Vinyes’ narrative and particularly in his short story “El llac d’Atitlán”. In this tale Ramon Vinyes turns into fiction his reflections about literary dynamism and the interconnection between literary systems. Literature facilitates knowledge transfer throughout epochs and cultures. Besides, the literary text is the result of various metamorphoses in which individuality and cultural hegemony play an outstanding role. “El llac d’Atitlán” fictionalises through the imagination of a Guatemalan poet the transfer of Renaissance philosophy in Latin America and its corruption under the influence of North American culture. Intertextuality and self-reference are the mechanisms to reshape knowledge. Literary proteanism becomes apparent through semantic and narratological transformation.
