Monsabert, Anne-Sophie de. "L'intranquillité du lecteur de Georges Pérec". Paris 7, 1994. http://www.theses.fr/1994PA070144.
Pełny tekst źródłaThe origin of this thesis is the perception of an uncomfortable feeling - the "intranquillity" - arisen from the reading of ggeorges perec's works. Hard to define and not very inclined to be an object of theory, this feeling can't be understood but by examining its functionning into the texts themselves. Four short and quite anecdotal texts are so studied in details. Tackled according to specific approaches : time, everyday-life, writing, they are moreover connectd with richer and more famous books. Then inventory- the theme of enumeraton -, which is an atypic and so worrying writing form, is examined with help of many examples picked out perec's works. A second part, clearly different, begins here : it's about a classification of some perecian figures, which allows to better perceive the connections between the author, the reader and the text. This sort of taxonomy, yes arbitrary but neither exhaustive nor definitive, leads to recognize the "intranquillity" as a crossing point for those three entities
Sun, Yiqun. "Estudio descriptivo sobre la aceptabilidad de las técnicas de traducción entre los lectores chinos: una investigación empírica de la obra Platero y yo". Doctoral thesis, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 2017. http://hdl.handle.net/10803/405308.
Pełny tekst źródłaThe main aim of this article is to define popular techniques among the Chinese receptors for the literary translation from Spanish to Chinese. The following hypothesis was formulated: different receivers like different techniques. The techniques appreciated by a certain group of readers share common characteristics. Based on the objective and the hypothesis of the study, four methodological models were established: the classification model of translation techniques, the text analysis model, the reader analysis model and the research questionnaire model. With this hypothesis in mind and to fulfill the main aim, an empirical-experimental research was carried out with readers of different levels of education, genre and age of Spanish-Chinese literary translation. The corpus of the study deals with the literary work Platero and I and its eight Chinese versions. First of all, based on the text analysis model, a textual analysis on Platero and I was carried out from three main factors and the twelve of the second degree: the literary genre (language, structure, arguments), the literary figures (appearance of the protagonists, character of the protagonists, appearance of the secondary figures, character of the secondary figures) and the implicit meanings (aesthetic style, sentiments, attitude of the author to life, thoughts and creative intention), to determine the key elements that should be transferred in translations. When finishing the study on the original work, a contrastive analysis of the techniques used in the eight translated texts was carried out: a random selection of Platero and I was made to extract a sentence (the choice was made following the twelve factors mentioned above). The original selected sentence and its three Chinese versions (translated by different techniques) were analyzed, the last ones were chosen among the eight translations. This analysis took the twelve procedures of the classification model of translation techniques as a reference. A total of 62 original sentences were analyzed with their three respective translations, which constructed the fundamental part of the questionnaire of the experiment. After determining the fundamental part of the questionnaire, a grouping was carried out on the respondents. I turned to the three factors (level of education, gender and age) as parameters for grouping the recipients of the translations, that is, in total there were three groups of readers, each group had two secondary groups containing 20-30 people respectively. After determining the questionnaire and the respondents, the survey was carried out among the individuals. Based on the result, I performed an analysis of the twelve techniques among different readers through the three factors that influenced their expectations. Through this analysis, it has been confirmed the existence of a relationship between the level of education and the age of Chinese recipients and the taste for the techniques. The relationship is: to a higher degree of education and to a greater age are expected procedures of translation closer to the original text. It is also noted that until now, in the Chinese reception techniques that reject the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the source language, change the form, content and situation of the original text and have a greater degree of intervention of the translator occupy a popular place in the field of literary translation.

Pełny tekst źródłaThe intertwining between technics and the living body, such is the question addressed by the profusion of technical devices. Traditionally, this articulation is conceived on the basis of the lived body, seen as original and constitutive. This perpetuates to some extent the figure of Subject, and, correlatively, views technics as a mere instrument prolonging its power. Grounded in the traditional primacy of consciousness and temporality, this approach does not conceptualize the intertwining between technics and body. The body, intrinsically spatial, cannot be understood in terms of temporal synthesis alone ; the intertwining should be approached through the spatiality, as the very place of the constitution of the body. Technics play here an essential role; it is not a mere modification of the original lived-body by an instrument in-hand, but rather the organisation of the body (as a power of action, furthermore as a sensibility) by the technics already-there

Pełny tekst źródłaWe propose here to make an original reading of a modern myth, that of transhumanism that predicts the overtaking of Homo sapiens by a new species, the posthuman. It is a myth that crossed the twentieth century by adapting to its changes to meet at the beginning of the twenty-first century in the hands of Internet giants, this essential tool of our time from which it participate fully in the overhaul of the mentalities and values on which our modern societies are based. It is this discreet but effective influence of the transhumanistic ideal in our daily lives that we propose to study here as the paradigm of the creation of the postmodern subject, whose arbitrary birth we will pose during the first transsexual operations in the years to come. 1950, and whose characteristics that will interest us mainly here are the fluidity of the body and identity. We will meet a subject under the influence of the discourse of science at the crossroads of the increasingly large infiltration of our societies by what has become medical technoscience on the one hand and the computerization of the world on the other hand, two phenomena on which largely relies the transhumanist ideology of an « augmented man » who could very well be particularly diminished

Pełny tekst źródłaThis thesis deals with the first of jean-jacques rousseau's novel julie ou la nouvlle heloise (1761) and studies the way our interpretation of a text can be influenced by the many differents types of textual (title, prefaces, footnotes. . . ) or material (format, paper, typography. . . ) elements that accompany or <> it. The introduction demosntrates the ne cessity of a pluri-subjects - book history, << paratextual >> studies. . . - approach to texts. The first two parts show how rousseau wanted to control not only the writing of his text but also the making of the book which carried it and which was conceived according to a litterary project. The third part proves that rousseau devised the prefaces and footnotes to his novel in order to disturb the reader and to constrain him to think by himself. The fourth and last part first of all brings to light rousseau's conception of book and reading, then tests the validity of the theorical elemen ts thus obtained by applying them to the rest of the paratextual objects present in the first editions of julie : plates , table of contents. . . The conclusion insists on the necessity to elaborate a <> : if rousseau is probably, with his novel, the most meaningful exemple of a writer implication into what is nowadays usually considered as a pure publisher concern, many of his contemporaries - voltaire, retif de la bretonne, beaumarchais, bernardin de saint pierre. . . - did expres the interest they took in the material dimension of a book conceived as capable to influence the meaning of the text it carries; that is to say as a litterary object

Pełny tekst źródłaFirst, a systematic study of texts based on formalists' research shows the unity of structure of the texts. This part offers a methodological basis which allows a deep analysis of the narrative syntax of bestiario's short stories. The second part is an extension of this first approach, considering each text in its narrative and literary context. It is based on the stories of the middle phase that cortazar brought together in a single volume relatos, with the addition of octaedro and alguien que anda por ahi. It presents synthetically the narrative process, the importance of thematics and the lexico-semantical characteristics (contaminations). Finally, text and context take their meaning from their interrelations with all the levels of significance, the intertextuality and the off-textualite, principally in the stories of the final phase queremos tanto a glenda and deshoras. This third part exceeds the strict limits of the short stories and concernes the conditions of their production, and adequacy to the society who created them. This process requires an active participation of the reader from multiple perspectives. This constant requirement and the subversion of the reader writer's relationship, explain our qualification of short stories as a vertiginous writing

Pełny tekst źródłaA corpus of 23 hardware and software computer manuals was studied in order to find out their main characteristics. Focusing on the "Installation and Use" section of these manuals, a linguistic analysis was conducted under the light of two main theoretical currents. On the one hand, the methodology derived from the theory of sublanguages (Z. Harris, 1968, 1982; L. Hirschman & N. Sager, 1982; J. Lehrberger, 1982) helped establish the common grounds of phrase stuctures found in this written genre. Techniques base on distributional analysis were employed to determine the information format of the six most frequent action verbs in the corpus (J. M. Adam, 1985,1992) proved the high incidence of the procedural discourse and showed the interrelation among this type of text and the descriptive and explanatory ones. Pedagogical actions intended to a public of university students who need to read texts in English in the domain of computer sciences were eventually proposed

Pełny tekst źródłaIn the framework of this work, i shall bend over strange and i improper productions in the editorial landscape of our society, namely book objects conceived from supports and very diverse materials (lead, steel, plexiglas, glass). I shall examine the way all these materials and techniques come and put themselves together around the text - always poetic - and organize their performance in space or how they are in a `way "set in body ". Books objects which are born give evidence of a deep and intimate dialogue : the text sometimes complies vvit h the object but the reverse is true ; literature and aesthetics work together. These books show themselves, to be readable and thinkable ; they arouse, by their almost abstract rigour, philosophic questionings and aesthetic meditations which i shall try to encircle. For me, the notion of book-object or "book sculpture " is a interesting because it questions the book in its traditional shape of assembly of pages sewn or stuck, consisted of sheets. There is a performance in space which makes that the definition of book is not obvious more. It also questions the writing- in its status, so much it is true that in a book object, the text is sometimes brought to disappear, being literally "implied ", the word implied being taken in its latin acception, meaning "envelopped" within the object. In vvhat measure is the text able to subvive to the plastic a environment which is offered to him? is there decrease or increasing of sense ? besides the book object questions our sway of reading. One doesn't read it in a linear way but in a spatial and dynamic way. Its consumption is made by the glance and the touch, the body has a big place its apprehension. The book-object provokes indeed a loss of marks, it creates a kind of shaking of the senses which demand to be understood. It is also the paradox of an object vvhich forms and lines are settled(fixed), but that spreads, displays its dreamlike universe in a infinite way. The space of the book as the place of the dilation. Can vve still speak about book? of book "to the limit" maybe. Whatever it might be, it conceals and celebrates an enigma vvhich i vvill try to decipher

Pełny tekst źródłaOur research aims at designing and developing tools which enable scholarly readers to perform a critical reading on sound and graphic documents. We propose software tools which make the fundamental critical operations possible (annotating, structuring, fragmenting, free Spatializing, labelling, marking, recomposing, linking, organizing. . . ). Our analysis articulates several disciplines: knowledge engineering, multimedia and document engineering, spatial hypertexts as well as computer-human interaction. We rely on a study of the history of reading and writing techniques and devices, and extend it with a philosophical and anthropological discussion about the nature of digital documents. We first propose a generic conceptual model which unifies the interpretation of heterogeneous multimedia contents. This model proposes entities which make the various material and cognitive operations on which relies critical work possible. These entities ensure a strong articulation between analytic (selection, fragmentation) and synthetic (free spatialization, fragments contextualization into interpretative structures) operations. We also propose a complete software environment which relies on the model and enables readers to thoroughly study a single document as well as a large multimedia fragments-made corpus. This software environment gave rise to innovative scholarly practices: critical essay of philosophy recorded lectures, semiotic analysis of multimedia corpora, segmentation and charting of synchronized music scores

Pełny tekst źródła"Stress", "overwork", "asthenia", "nervous tension", etc. , these words that are nowadays growing in number in the medias are the signs of a major problem of our civilization, that psychiatry and psychopathology appoint in an alarming way: the contemporary man is the subject of a suffering, which comes into a general use as tiredness and depression. In the center of these pathologies appears the question of the time relation to oneself. Bombarded with the enterprise requirements of performance optimization, on which the rise and the development of technoscience and of its industry rely, the self is bustled about earning time. What do these pathologies of time mean, those wich increase with the development of modern western civilizations? What happens, in the order of such a world, of the work of all those who "loose their time": artists, thinkers, searchers…? In front of the tiredness to be the self, the question of therapeutic: the work of self on self, according to its tempo, whose ancient ontic model is the worry of the self. This work that psychoanalysis could have named perlaboration involves a temporality which is irreducible to the diachrony of acceleration. It reminds that the self is constitutively and originally opened to an unprogrammable alterity, which alterity could not be contained in the equation of a gain. Confronted to its own undetermination, the self is the place of one depressivity, which is at the same time, under the condition of an unconditional welcome of the other stranger inside, the ability by which the self constitutes itself, and one research is spread according to its unpredictability, its freedom and its lost time

This thesis explores the metafictional dimension of British novelist Christopher Priest’s 1981 novel The Affirmation [La fontaine pétrifiante]. Making use of theories and ideas from the works of Bougnoux, Dällenbach, Klein, Paterson, Ricardou, and Saint-Gelais, this study shows how metafictional devices, in spite of their destabilizing potential, are gradually incorporated by the diegetic universe deployed in the novel. This study relies on a specific analytic reading that attributes motivations to the reflexive mecanisms found in Priest’s science-fiction novel. For instance, experimental devices such as the constant questioning of narrative authority, the multiplication of embedded plots and storylines, the transit, the frequent use of metalepsis and telescoping, seem all to serve the purpose of the story, therefore preserving the effect of realist representation or, at least, not disrupting it.

Pełny tekst źródłaThe Parekbolai of Eustathius of Thessalonica on the Iliad constitute a text that is not translated and analyzedeither in French or in any other modern European language. We propose a French translation of thecommentary of Eustathius on the rhapsody VI of the Iliad and a technical analysis whose purpose is todemonstrate i) which is the particularity of the text as Parekbolai ii) what is the originality of Eustathius, iii)how the scholiast selects, combines and compiles the sources, iv) in which purpose he makes a compilationof innumerable extracts in his autonomous commentary and finally v) which is the lecture of Homer inEustathius of Thessalonica. We propose, first, a literal translation of the text of Eustathius in order to show theanalytical and synthetic spirit of the scholiast in relation to the Homeric text. Then we make a technicalanalysis of the commentary and we propose a third technical lecture of the second lecture of the Homeric text.We propose a thematic classification of the extracts of the commentaries which compose progressively thereception of Homer in Eustathius. These are: i) the ancient scholia on the Iliad, ii) the poetical quotations, iii)certain Homeric quotations, iv) the extracts of prose writers and v) the etymological remarks of Eustathius. Then vi) they are the original remarks of Eustathius that contain explanations and observations on the innerlife of the heroes, and vii) finally, the personal commentary of Eustathius which indicate the pedagogicalobjectives in relation to the Homeric text

Pełny tekst źródłaSchool failure continues to increase in France, as well as the gap between the lowest and highest performing pupils (PISA 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012). Reading is a complex activity that requires mastering conjointly two skills, word identification and meaning understanding. Word identification is the main cause of reading difficulty: the code that binds oral and written information must be understood as being based on conventions, and the pupils who cannot access to symbols encounter difficulties in this understanding. In the present work, we have developed a new learning device that makes clear to children the relationships between oral and written syllables. This device comprises a representation of the writing system and material that enables to manipulate phonogrammes. To this end, we have included an additional step within a reading and writing method, the identification of pseudo-words, that is to say, of “signifieds” (plausible words) without “signifiers” (no corresponding referee or meaning). In order not to neglect the understanding dimension at the beginning of the learning phase, oral stories were presented to the children. They were extracted from an album of 30 chapters in which the heroine, a young witch, attributes meaning to these pseudo-words through her magic spells. In the training phase, the pseudo-words (associated with its signifier) are presented inside various reading - identification and understanding - and writing activities. Our specific training had the expected positive effects in unselected grade 1 elementary pupils from areas of prioritary education. These effects concerned mainly the identification and production of words, without adverse effects in other aspects of writing

Pełny tekst źródłaIn the last few years, automation in clinical microbiology has become very important due to the constant increase of samples but they need to be improved. A review of the literature was performed to expose the new challenges and the new opportunities in the surveillance and the detection of multi-drug resistance bacteria. For that purpose, we conduct a thorough search to test new innovative technological tools for reading earlier AST with high-resolution image scanner: Advencis Bio-System Incubator and the Scan® 1200 and to carry out the automatic seeding of AST with the PREVI® Isola system (bioMérieux, Marcy l’Etoile, France). In a second step, the retrospective analysis of antibiotic resistance and phenotypes observed at La Timone hospital in Marseille was carried out between 2014 and 2016. We have developped a new software for the automatic interpretation of phenotypes based on image recognition protected by a patent: the "ANTI-LOGIC" software. The aim of our third work was to participate on the development of a real-time PCR to detect the mcr-1 gene. We then worked on multi-resistant strains with Gram-negative bacteria, we have tested a large panel of 29-32 antibiotics to see if we are in a therapeutic stalemate. For the detection of colistin resistant strains, a selective culture medium has been developed. In order to finish this part, with the appearance of colistin-resistant strains, we tried to find a therapeutic alternative by studying combinations of old antibiotics (colistin-sulfadiazine) for the treatment and decolonization before faecal transplantation of patients infected or colonized by multi-resistant bacteria

Pełny tekst źródłaProtection of data stored on integrated circuit memories is a major preoccupation of our society. Today, these circuits are everywhere, from electronics for the general public (SIM charts, USB flash memories), to satellites, bank cards and numerical passports. This thesis strives to answer the following question: “Is it possible to physically read the information stored in a non volatile memory (NVM)?”. Contrary to software attacks, physical approaches (hardware) destroy components. To reach the information contained in the core of a memory, this progressive destruction must be controlled. We have developed a four stage method adapted to each NVM family: 1) technological analysis, 2) address descrambling, 3) sample preparation to make data accessible and 4) data reading. The difficulty and complexity of this work can be better understood if we start with the desired result. For example, the data (0 or 1) of flash memory cell corresponds to the presence/absence of a charge of several hundred electrons stored on the floating gate of a transistor. Detecting the correct value requires a technique with strong topographic and potential resolution, which is as non invasive as possible to avoid erasing the electrons which are by nature, highly mobile. For current memory technologies (node ≥90nm), we show that passive voltage contrast (PVC) or electric modes of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) are adapted to these constraints. With this approach, stage n°3 of sample preparation is the key step to expose storage location of programmed charges without losing them. The method described in this thesis is based on a functional and physical characterization of memories coupled with an understanding of component preparation and analysis techniques. The experience gained over the past three years shows the importance of choosing the right reading technique and adjusting parameters according to the type of memory to be analyzed. For future technologies (node ≤65nm) or silicon on insulator (SOI), our method should remain applicable

Pełny tekst źródłaAfter underlining the complex evolution of teaching literature at Secondary school level, and the current difficulties faced when teaching the official syllabus, particularily as far as analytical reading is concerned, this study reveals the educational benefits of teaching Resistance poetry. An experiment carried out with Year 10 pupils, and the analysis of their reader's texts enables us to assess the educational importance of the study of Resistance poetry. Indeed, the characteristic indetermination zones create a motivational dynamic and stimulate interpretational efforts amongst the pupils. The prolific constraints of this type of text encourage a « dialectic » and plural literary reading of the text, contributing to the understanding of the notion of literary interpretation. The encounter with Resistance poetry appears then to be a valuable experience, encouraging pupils to progress and become more independent

Pełny tekst źródłaThis work offers a philosophical research about the transformations of literary reading under the digital environment. We question the issues of the new forms and techniques of textuality regarding subjectivity, such as it builds and interprets itself in light of reading. This research is based on two hypotheses. The first one, stated by Proust in “Le Temps Retrouvé”, is that “every reader, as he reads, is the very reader of himself”, equating reading to a privileged subjectivity matrix, a place where the self comes out and discerns itself. The second one was expressed by the neurologist Maryanne Wolf: “we are how we read”. Beside the story we are told, the empirical practices and techniques of the reading act also participate in our ontological constitution. Today, those empirical elements are disrupted by the digital that gives birth to new mediums, textual forms and reading spaces. Our work is at the encounter of a series of technological transformations and the hermeneutic metamorphoses they arouse. If the book has long been a mediation to read oneself and a model for understanding the world, then what becomes of our relationship to the others and to ourselves when the book gives way to novel objects? We approach digital literary reading as a prism through which questioning the becoming of contemporary subjectivity. This research invites us to meditate on the renewal of aesthetic imagination, social imagination and existential imagination aroused by the experience of the electronic text
Ricca, Silvia. "Théories de la compassion dans le Zibaldone. Leopardi lecteur des Lumières". Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017USPCA139.
Pełny tekst źródłaCompassion, at the center of the Enlightenment debate on the fundamentals of sociability and human nature, is perhaps one of the most analyzed feelings in Leopardi’s Zibaldone. Enlightenment contributed, more than any other tradition, to the shaping of Leopardi’s thought, and surely contributed to his interest in passions and human nature. Hence, can we say that it also influenced his examination of compassion ? What is the place of Leopardi within the modern history of the philosophical theories of compassion ? Does he stand with its defenders, whose main champion is Rousseau, or rather with its many opponents ?After an introductory chapter outlining the context in which the new moral and lexical paradigm of the Enlightenment develops, this study explores the topics examined by Leopardi in his analysis of compassion : the enigmatic nature of this feeling, its principles and elements ; the psychophysical conditions of different categories of people who are predisposed, in different degrees, to feel compassion ; the objects that move compassion ; the different moods and stages of life in which one is more inclined to compassion. Finally, the last chapter presents the ultimate form of compassion in Leopardi : the universal compassion. The main goal of this research is therefore to illustrate the diverse facets of the theory and experience of compassion in Leopardi, and to show the complexity of his analysis, which is constantly in between anthropology and morals, ontology and phenomenology, philosophy and poetry

Pełny tekst źródłaReading documentation is an essential skill to develop in computer science students, whose level of English is low and who are poorly motivated by English, a subject considered to be minor in a science curriculum. This research aimed at proposing learning and teaching solutions to make them proficient in reading professional texts. We selected a bottom-up approach, inspired by fieldwork, and a top-down approach from the theoretical foundations related to the language skills involved. The first part expounds the theoretical framework and clarifies the terms of our research problem (English for Specific Purposes, reading, comprehension, ICT/CALL), which allowed us to construct our object of research. ESP is thus defined as a teaching/learning and linguistic object, reading and understanding are characterized from cognitive and SLA points of view, and the contribution of ICT to reading comprehension is examined. The second part, which is more practical, contains a corpus analysis of specialized texts and presents a teaching approach implemented through a software program designed to enhance reading comprehension. The latter is then experimented to test our hypothesis of a better comprehension in student groups who used hypertext reading aids compared to control groups, thus evaluating the impact of our research tool. We conclude on the validity of this approach to improve the reading strategies of computer science students

Pełny tekst źródłaThe history of communication among people points out that the role of writing and the techniques used in its production have gone throug unending mutations. The slow rhythm of this evolution has been regularly interupted by abrupt changes stemming from dominant laws and by true revolutions. This work is based on the analysis of three of these revolutions. Two of these are essentially technicals. Firstly, there is the appearance of the printing press at the end of the middle ages and secondly the invasion of electronics during the second half of the twentieth century. The third one is, above all, political and social. Concerning this ambitions venture of general alphabetization, during the nineteenth century, now it seems that we cannot diassociate the technical progress of political and social realities. Printing only became all important when the theocratic and feudal order had been disrupted by the increasing influence of the bourgeoisie and the age of reform. The prodigious technical innovations of the twentieth century if not supported by a social ethic posed the of partition between the lords of communication on the one and a mass of ignorant consumers on the other. The harmony that can be seen during the nineteenth century between the affirmed philosophical ideal of democratization of knowledge and the progress of communication techniques stands out therefore as exceptional

Pełny tekst źródłaThe aim of this work is to develop a non-contact 3D scanning robot to measure surfaces from objects of small sizes. The 3D scanner is shaped for a mechanical structure and an optic lecture system. The mechanical structure has 5 degrees of freedom. Such system is composed by two kinematic chains used to move the laser sensor and the workpiece respectively. The lecture system is derived from a laser sensor, based on 3D active triangulation technique that acquires the surface workpiece data. This technique assurance the scanning of the workpiece surface with reduced dimensional errors and consequently it makes possible the use less data points. Therefore it is achievable the fast data processing to reverse engineering method. In order to analyze its kinematics and dynamic model, its workspace, error analysis, and efforts at the joints, methods for reading the surface coordinates were proposed. For the analysis were considered the resolution and mechanical characteristics of the components used for the construction of a prototype.

Pełny tekst źródłaVarious discourses associated with posthumanism have mainly developed from the 1950s, expressed through technoscientific advances as well as through artistic and literary works and even in politics. In this context, the period between the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st century was defined by the release of the Rules for the Human Park [Regeln für den Menschenpark] by Peter Sloterdijk at a conference in Germany in 1999, whore launched the debate on biotechnology and anthropotechnology in Europe. In parallel, the publications in Mexicoand Spain of Jorge Volpi’s trilogy of the twentieth century, En busca de Klingsor (1999), El fin de la locura (2003) and No será la Tierra (2006), and in France, the novels by Michel Houellebecq, Les Particules élémentaires (1998)and La Possibilité d’une île (2005), bear the imprint of this period. The present work begins by studying these five novels taking into account the fundamental topics of posthumanist configuration through critical and theoretical discourses which address this movement. It then proposes to analyze in parallel, on the one hand, the perception and representation of the history, the past, the present and the future among novelists, and on the other hand key milestones for the creation and development of posthumanism, from its mythical and science-fictional sources to the manifestations of the American "counter-culture". Posthumanism is thus envisaged not only as a subject that serves as a mediation between two works, but also in its epistemological dimension. A dimension present in the novels of both authors, and that they allow to reconsider

Pełny tekst źródłaThis research is focused on the book, the habits of reading, the type of reading material and attitudes towards reading in Morocco, in the urban environments. Three questions are at the center of my study : 1. Identifying the reading habits and attitudes of the literate population of Casablanca and Rabat ; 2. Gaining an understanding of the current state of readership and segmenting the public into primary readership groups ; 3. Finding out the primary, preferred and available media and channels in order to acquire written / printed information. I am interested in practices in evolution. This study analyses book production from the author to the reader through the publisher, the editor and the different types of book sellers. It deals with all kinds of books except schoolbooks. It includes religious books. Nevertheless, it aims at comparing public and private publishing to understand what kind of books refer to the official culture and which ones are related to personal ways of thinking knowledge in Casablanca and Rabat. I have spent one year in these two cities as my fieldwork to do the main observations

Pełny tekst źródłaAcademic reading comprehension in L2 is shown to be affected by several factors including, but not limited to, vocabulary knowledge, background knowledge, linguistic knowledge, syntactic awareness, reading strategies. However, there seems to be no consensus among previous studies with respect to the type of factors that have the greatest impact on L2 learner’s comprehension of academic texts (Guo & Roehrig, 2011; Nergis, 2013). The present study conducted with a population of 75 Iranian French as a Second Language (FSL) learners enrolled in graduate programs at Laval University (Quebec), seeks to explore the degree to which the knowledge of vocabulary (depth and size), syntactic awareness and metacognitive awareness, facilitate the academic reading comprehension in FSL learner’s. The data was gathered using 5 different instruments: a measure of depth of vocabulary knowledge (Qian & Schedl, 2004), a vocabulary level test (Nation, 1990), a measure of syntactic awareness (Brown, Hammill, Larsen & Wiederholt, 2007), a questionnaire on metacognitive strategies in reading (Taraban, Kerr & Ryneason, 2004) and the reading component of the Test de Connaissance du Français (TCF). The results of the quantitative data analysis indicate that the reading comprehension score is significantly correlated with all other variables and that these associations are all positive though moderate at times. The result of a regression analysis revealed that, for this group of homogeneous learners, the variables Taille3kTotal and PhraseTotal contributed the most to the academic reading comprehension, in French, a third language for our subjects. Our findings are consistent with those obtained by Guo and Roehrig (2011), thus contradicting Nergis’ 2013 conclusions which identified the metacognitive consciousness as the best predictor of reading comprehension.

Pełny tekst źródłaSeveral reporter systems have been developed in order to support fundamental scientific projects, from gene promoter regulation study, signaling pathway activation, or protein/protein interaction monitoring. In order to enhance the sensitivity of a protease assay, we developed a new reporter system allowing signal amplification by optimizing a system based on the use of a hyperactive relay enzyme from Tobacco Etch Virus (TEV protease). The signal is detected by two methods compatible with high-throughput and leads to an ON/OFF signal. The Bioluminescence Resonance Energy Transfer (BRET) allows us to measure a signal at basal state, which will decrease upon cleavage of the probe by the protease. High Content Screening (HCS) Microscopy also allows the differentiation between positive and negative cells by a simple shift in the fluorescence acceptor location of the probe used in energy transfer, from the nucleus to the cytoplasm of the cells. The high sensitivity of our approach now leads us to validate its use in a more generic way. This is why the project aimed at the optimization of the BRET probe at the origin of the test, by performing a serie of amino acid deletions at the N-terminus of the energy donor and the C-terminus of the energy acceptor to find the best probe in order to obtain the best energy transfer. The HCS contrast between the two states was aslo increased by testing different nuclear localization sequences. With this new probe, we tried to adapt the system to several fields of application like i) a viral infection test using the HCV protease as a proof of concept but also ii) the expression of a reporter gene with the TGR5, a G-coupled protein receptor as model and iii) the detection of protein-protein interactions. To demonstrate this concept, we used the well know interaction between FRB and FKBP12 proteins, induced by rapamycine. Results from this project will lead to the development of a new reporter system, auto-amplified and usable in a generic way, which a very high sensitivity is necessary

Pełny tekst źródłaThe dissertation, which investigates the description of the novel and considers an answer by interrogating an information problem (offering a theoretical model of representation, a basis for the conception and creation of tools for a carefully thought out navigation within fiction), carries out a reflection about the role of literary fiction in the construction of bodies of knowledge and, by extension, of a culture. These reflection and experimentation take place in the school context of the “lycee d’enseignement general” [mainstream education high school] (definition of the status of the novel in the way that it is used in education programs and objectives, analysis of the notion of literary reading in high school) and through the analysis of a body of texts: study of La Mysterieuse Flamme de la Reine Loana / Umberto Eco, 2004, French translation, Paris, Grasset et Fasquelle, 2005, combined with the study of an unpredictable collection of texts about the theme of the Shoah. Since the object of study is the novel, the links between Information and Communication Sciences and semiotics are approached in a new light: construction of a semiotic theory (definition, setting up of a formal language, choice of a representation system) made suitable to the object of study by clarifying the conditions of meaning production, which implies a hybridization of the fields (Information and Communication Sciences and literary analysis). The theoretical elements for a representation model of fiction are developed. Definitions of the novel, of literary narrative fiction, of information, of fictiology (a new field of research opened up by the study) and of critical fictiological information, complemented by a description of positioning of this research in the field of Information and Communication Sciences, frame the reflection. A chapter tackling literature and the notion of memory allows for a delineation of the links between novel and representation of reality. For this purpose, the notions of text, reference, and context are defined. Finally, the title of the dissertation is explained through the description of the imaginal faculty, and of the mediation function attributed to the novel. To close this part of the study, drafting a panorama of the proposed and employed tools helps operate a state of the art of fiction classification, reinforced by the definition of an open information research and a study of the notion of meaning in the handling of fiction. Analyses in the practical field include a report of investigations on reading practices conducted in the contexts of secondary education and of the training of ‘Education Nationale’ information librarians. Analyzing bodies of texts allows the problem of visible reality in the novel to be interrogated. This research tests out a fictiologic ontology by examining the novel as document and by attempting a formalization of the camps literature. The proposition of a theoretical model to be experimented is concretized by the development of a system of organization of information and literary knowledge. A reflection on the current technical environment justifies the choices considered, the propositions and solutions offered. By presenting a fictiological information literaty, an extension of media information literaty, the dissertation ends with the description of fictiological mediation anchored into a renegotiation of information spaces and typologies, investigating participatory and collaborative practices
