Abstract. The application of different leaf physical models will result in the low accuracy in the process of the vegetation information inversion of the expressway, as well as poor efficiency in the process. The GLIBERTY model attempts to simulate the leaf reflectance and transmittance by the use of hierarchical computing theory, through the analysis of the optical properties of the single cell and the introduction of monolayer cells and cells of infinite layer between the reflectance and transmittance mathematical relationship, based on the radiative transfer theory. The study established the completed GLIBERTY model calculation theory system after the impaction of leaf structure parameters. The results show that the GLIBERTY model can accurately simulate the spectrum information of broadleaf and needle even in the case of less input parameters.

Streszczenie:
Despite the implications leaves have for life, their origin and development remain debated. Analyses across ferns and seed plants are fundamental to address the conservation or independent origins of megaphyllous leaf developmental mechanisms. Class I KNOX expression studies have been used to understand leaf development and, in ferns, have only been conducted in species with divided leaves. We performed expression analyses of the Class I KNOX and Histone H4 genes throughout the development of leaf primordia in two simple-leaved and one divided-leaved fern taxa. We found Class I KNOX are expressed (1) throughout young and early developing leaves of simple and divided-leaved ferns, (2) later into leaf development of divided-leaved species compared to simple-leaved species, and (3) at the leaf primordium apex and margins. H4 expression is similar in young leaf primordia of simple and divided leaves. Persistent Class I KNOX expression at the margins of divided leaf primordia compared with simple leaf primordia indicates that temporal and spatial patterns of Class I KNOX expression correlate with different fern leaf morphologies. However, our results also indicate that Class I KNOX expression alone is not sufficient to promote divided leaf development in ferns. Class I KNOX patterns of expression in fern leaves support the conservation of an independently recruited developmental mechanism for leaf dissection in megaphylls, the shoot-like nature of fern leaves compared with seed plant leaves, and the critical role marginal meristems play in fern leaf development.

Streszczenie:
The asymmetric leaves2 (as2) mutant of Arabidopsis thaliana generated leaf lobes and leaflet-like structures from the petioles of leaves in a bilaterally asymmetric manner. Both the delayed formation of the primary vein and the asymmetric formation of secondary veins were apparent in leaf primordia of as2 plants. A distinct midvein, which is the thickest vein and is located in the longitudinal center of the leaf lamina of wild-type plants, was often rudimentary even in mature as2 leaves. However, several parallel veins of very similar thickness were evident in such leaves. The complexity of venation patterns in all leaf-like organs of as2 plants was reduced. The malformed veins were visible before the development of asymmetry of the leaf lamina and were maintained in mature as2 leaves. In vitro culture on phytohormone-free medium of leaf sections from as2 mutants and from the asymmetric leaves1 (as1) mutant, which has a phenotype similar to that of as2, revealed an elevated potential in both cases for regeneration of shoots from leaf cells. Analysis by the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction showed that transcripts of the KNAT1, KNAT2 and KNAT6 (a recently identified member of the class 1 knox family) genes accumulated in the leaves of both as2 and as1 plants but not of wild type. Transcripts of the STM gene also accumulated in as1 leaves. These findings suggest that, in leaves, the AS2 and AS1 genes repress the expression of these homeobox genes, which are thought to maintain the indeterminate cell state in the shoot apical meristem. Taken together, our results suggest that AS2 and AS1 might be involved in establishment of a prominent midvein and of networks of other veins as well as in the formation of the symmetric leaf lamina, which might be related to repression of class 1 knox homeobox genes in leaves.

Streszczenie:
Foliar phenologies of forest understory plants were categorized, and the distribution pattern of leaf habit was examined among different forest environments. Various patterns of foliar phenology were found, especially in herbaceous plants. In addition to the seasonal light regime controlled by the phenology of canopy trees, differences in the length of period with snow cover led to the divergence. Perennial-leaved plants predominate in intensely shaded habitats while annual-leaved plants are more abundant in less shaded habitats. The shade tolerance of perenniel-leaved plants can be considered a preadaptation to snow tolerance. In contrast with the perennial-leaved plants, biennial-leaved plants with leaves overwintering 1 year appear to be favored in euphotic habitats with high insulation both in spring and in autumn. These species are effective competitors in spring because of rapid emergence of current leaves, probably through retranslocation of resources accumulated in the previous year. Another adaptive trait is found in heteroptic plants simultaneously having summer-green leaves and overwintering leaves; these types of leaves seem to function in predictable and quite different environments in a year. Key words: foliar phenology, growth form, light resource, overwintering leaf, snow cover.

Abstract Background Many trainees plan pregnancy during fellowship training. A study of internal medicine program directors (PDs) demonstrated frequent misinterpretation of American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) leave policies when applied to parental leave. The ABIM has since attempted to clarify its leave and deficits in training policies. The primary aim of this study was to investigate how infectious disease (ID) program directors interpret the current ABIM leave policies in crafting parental leave for trainees. Methods We surveyed 155 ID program directors in an online, anonymous questionnaire regarding their knowledge of ABIM leave policies and application toward trainees’ leaves of absence. Results 75/155 (48%) of program directors responded to the survey. Most respondents incorrectly identified the leave limits permitted by ABIM policies, and a majority mistakenly chose to extend training when a clinically competent fellow was within their allowed duration of leave.(Figure 1) Most respondents correctly identified that equal time is permitted for both birth and non-birth parent parental leave, however, reported leave durations did not reflect this equity. PDs reported the majority (60.4%) of ID trainee maternity/birth parent leaves at their programs were ≤7weeks and 4.6% were≤3 weeks, while only 7% were≥12 weeks. In contrast, 50% of paternity/non birth parent leaves were ≤3weeks and none were ≥12 weeks. (Figure 2) PDs utilize various strategies to prevent extending training for fellows taking parental leaves that exceed the limits allowed by ABIM policies, including creating “home electives,” though 34% counsel trainees to take “a shorter maternity leave.” Conclusion Fellowship program directors often misinterpret ABIM leave policies, and misapply them when given example scenarios. These findings have clear implications for trainees’ family planning and may lead to shortened parental leaves and inappropriate fellowship training extensions. The article is devoted to the issues of legal regulation of social leaves by the labour legislation of the countries of the former Soviet Union. The types of such leaves, their peculiarities and the procedure for granting individual labour legislation in the country are investigated. It has been established that workers with family responsibilities under both domestic and labour legislation of the post-Soviet countries are given social leave of both identical and different purposes and duration. It is concluded that the labour legislation of individual countries have identified categories of women for whom the duration of maternity leave is significantly increased or has its own characteristics. Such categories include women affected by the Chornobyl disaster, as well as those working in agriculture or in the area of radioactive contamination. It is stated that the inclusion of such types of leaves as without salaries, in connection with the Chernobyl disaster and study holidays in social is justified in order to provide them - to ensure social goals. The author establishes that a Ukrainian employee has a restriction on the use of full-time leave of up to six months of continuous work at the last place of work. It is proposed to amend the current legislation on leave by adding a rule that allows, by agreement of the parties, to grant leave to the employee before the expiration of the six-month period. The article investigates that additional paid social leave for workers with family responsibilities is stipulated by the labour legislation of Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova, but the duration of such leave in these countries is shorter than in our country. It is concluded that the current labour law of Ukraine, unlike other labour codes of the post-Soviet countries, more fully regulates the issue of granting social leave to employees with family responsibilities. Positive experience in regulating certain types of social leaves should be taken into account in the process of reforming national labour legislation, in particular, it is advisable to include educational leaves, leaves in connection with the Chernobyl disaster and leaves without keeping salaries for good personal and family reasons, because their purpose is to fulfill social goals.

PurposeThis article explores the patterns and dynamics of parenting-related leave policy reforms in the European former socialist countries (EFSCs). It sheds light on the development pattern of their leave policies and their potential to reproduce, impede, or transform traditional gender norms in employment and care.Design/methodology/approachThe article provides a historical comparative analysis of leave policy developments in 21 EFSCs in the 1970–2018 period. It systematically explores continuity and changes in leave policy design − generosity (leave duration and benefits level) and fathers' entitlements to leaves − as well as policy concerns and gender-equality-related implications.FindingsFollowing the state-socialist commitment to gender equality, the EFSCs introduced childcare/parental leaves early. Nevertheless, they developed mother-centered leaves of equality-impeding character, in that they did not promote gender equality. The divergence of EFSCs' leave policies intensified in the period of transition from socialism to capitalism, as competing priorities and inter-related policy concerns – such as re-traditionalization, fertility incentives, gender equality, and labor market participation – influenced policy design. Leave policies of the EFSCs that joined the EU gradually transformed towards more gender-equal ones. Nonetheless, the progress has been slow, and only three countries can be classified as having equality-transforming leaves (Slovenia, Lithuania, and Romania).Originality/valueThis article extends existent comparative studies on maternity/paternity/parental leaves, exploring the region that has been overlooked by such research. It provides valuable insights into the implications of intersectional dimensions of leave design as well as competing priorities and concerns embedded in it. It points to the methodological complexity of evaluating the development of parental leave policies in a cross-country perspective.

Olive leaves have been catching consumers’ and researchers’ great interest because of benefits on human health. In this study, the olive leaves were dried by microwave method at different powers (52, 90, 167, 290, 347 W real effective power levels) and drying kinetics of olive leaves were examined to find the best mathematical model. Page model was the most suitable model rather than the others. Diffusion coefficients were ranged between 2.65×10-10 to 6.87×10-10 m2/s and an increment in power level promoted moisture diffusivities. Dried olive leaves were used to get leave tea and different infusion temperatures were investigated to recover the total polyphenols (mg GAE/kg) and radical scavenging activities (%). Rising in infusion temperature, especially at 100°C enhanced the extraction levels of polyphenols from leave tea. Olive leaves dried at 167 W had higher phenolic contents (2282.9 mg GAE/kg) among all samples.

The aim of experiment is to observe the distribution of citronellol as consequence the distribution of nitrogen on different layer of tree canopy. The method of the research obtain the samples of leaves which were collected from different layer of citrus canopy from 10 samples of trees on each part of field: bottom layer, middle layer and upper layer of canopy. The randomized leaves were collected and analyzed by the HPLC and Spectro-photometer to measure the content of nitrogen and glutamate distribution correlated to citronellol content. The results presents that the closely correlation of distribution of nitrogen between bottom layer, middle layer and upper layer of lemon leaves to produce glutamate and citronellol. The remobilization of nitrogen from bottom leaves content 1.35 ppm followed by middle leaves 1.4 ppm and the highest is the upper leaves is 1.65 ppm. As consequence that the glutamate and citronellol were increase as the same trend as those nutrients distribution. The glutamate seems to be the precursor of the secondary metabolic which was converted into the harvested leaves of citrus. Increasing of 5% glutamate from the upper leaves to the middle leave and the bottom leaves seem to be much accumulated of citronellol content in the bottom leaves.

Many people tend to consider using plants for medicine. Beatle’s leaves are contained of some active substance such as kavikol, kavibetol and eugenol while mengkudu’s leave have active substance such as Scalopoetin ,antrhakuinon and saponin that known as antifungi. One of fungi as the main agent of Candidiasis diseases in mouth is Candida albicans. The purpose of study is to compairing the difference inhibitions activity of infusion beatle’s Leaves (Piper beatle L) and infusion mengkudu’s leaves (Morinda citrofilia L) against Candida albicans growth. The Study use dilution method to determine of Minimun Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). This research using 32 sample of infusion beatle’s leaves and infusion mengkudu’s leaves and mixing with Candida albicans and then incubation with Sabouroud Dextrose Broth media. The result is concentration 80% of infusion beatle’s leaves had an inhibitions power against Candida albicans growth. Concentration 100% infusion mengkudu’s leaves had an inhibitions power against Candida albicans growth. The Conclusion of the study is concentration needed of infusion beatle’s leaves low than infusion mengkudu’s leaves for inhibition against Candida albicans growth.

This research was aimed to observe the anatomical character of mangrove plants leave and examine the differences from leaves anatomical character of mangroves in Donan river and Tritih forest in Cilacap regency as an self-adaptation indicator. The method which is used was survey method by collecting leaves sample of each mangrove plants. The sample was preparated using embedding method, and stained with safranin 1% disolved in alcohol 70%. The parameter of variable which is observed in leaves anatomical character are thickness of leaves, leaves mesophyll thickness, cuticle thickness, stomata length size, and amount of stomata and trichome per leaves unit area. The data were analyzed with t-test for examining anatomical character difference. The results showed that four usual types of mangrove plants such as Achantus ilicifolius, Rhizospora mucronata, Aegiceros corniculatum, and Bruguiera gymnorrhiza have similar leaves anatomical structure. The anatomical character from polluted habitat were different from unpolluted habitat. This differences was showed in leaves mesophyll thickness, cuticle thickness, stomata length size, and amount of stomata and trichome per mm2 leaves unit area.

The pollution characteristics of n-alkanes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the typical tree species (Chinese Glossy Privet tree, Camphors tree, Osmanthus tree) in Chengdu city were studied. The distribution and sources of n-alkanes and PAHs in leave samples were discussed. The results showed the carbon number of n-alkanes ranging from nC11 to nC34 of leaves samples in Chengdu City was detected out and the distributions of n-alkanes of selected plant leaves in different sampling sites showed obvious difference. The content of n-alkanes in the east site leave samples was the most abundant, the highest value was 5.2 μg/g while the least was at the north site (0.01μg/g). The content of PAHs in the north site leave samples was the most abundant with the highest value being 242.56 μg/kg while the least was at the central site with the lowest value of 0.11μg/kg. The content of n-alkanes and PAHs in Camphors tree leaves was higher than Osmanthus tree leaves suggesting Camphors tree could better purified the city air.

Background: HCV in mainly replicate in liver cell and cause liver damage. The replication of HCV may be inhibited by leaves extract of neem (Azadirachta Indica). Aim: To find the antiviral activity of extract of neem (Azadirachta Indica) leaves. Methods: Thirty five hepatitis C positive and disappointment of conservative treatment were studied. Effect of neem (Azadirachta indica) leaves was seen in serum of patient. Extract of Azadirachta indica leaves was prepared and given orally to patients. The seropositivity of hepatitis C was estimated prior and after the leave extract of neem by HCV- RNA quantitative analysis by Polymerase chain reaction. Level of ALT, AST and total protein were estimated by standard kit methods. Results: A high HCV seropositivity was observed in patients before taking neem extract. We observed that after using the leave extract of Azadirachta indica or neem, the HCV seropositivity was significantly decreased. Levels of enzymes ALT and AST were also significantly decreased after taking neem extract. However, the level of serum protein was not changed. Conclusion: Extracted leaves of Azadirachta indica may serve as valuable regimen against hepatitis C virus as it has an ability to inhibit the protease responsible for replication of virus. Keywords: HCV seropositivity, Azadirachta indica leaves, transaminases
