Streszczenie:

Because of the role religion plays in upholding socio-political arrangements in Jordan, we argue that Jordanian Protestants, as a religious minority, can be productively understood as a religious counterpublic. Given the explicitly Islamic nature of Jordanian national identity, their unique mode of counterpublicity seeks to simultaneously maintain a distinct religious identity while also compensating for Jordanian Protestants’ deviance from the prevailing religious norms via overt displays of national loyalty. This compensatory mode of counterpublicity is visible through Jordanian Protestants’ public displays and symbols, public sermons and statements, and on social media.

A little-known part of Swedish Jewish bibliography are the many small separate booklets and addresses of homage produced by the Jewish communities in Stockholm, Norrköping, Gothenburg and Karlskrona to honor King and Country. The Jews who settled in Sweden in the 18th century received royal letters of protection. They were very eager to express their appreciation to the king. This started in 1782 with the death of the Dowager Queen, the mother of King Gustaf III, and only a month later there was a new booklet on the birth of an heir to the King and Queen. It was Gustaf III who seven years earlier, in 1775, had allowed the first Jews, Aaron Isaac, to settle in Sweden without converting to Christianity. On such occasions a special service was usually held in the synagogue, with songs and prayers composed especially for the occasion. These were oriented in separate booklets, often presented to the king in a special presentation copy. All pamphlets and booklets listed here are found in the Royal Library of Stockholm or in the Library of Uppsala University.

THIS thesis investigates whether national identity still has a role to play in present-day society, and whether this role can be measured multidimensionally and cross-nationally. In reviewing the existing literature on nations and nationalism, national identity is defined as an abstract social identity based on a belief in an involuntary, historically extended community. Two theoretical mechanisms, cognitive biases and functional interdependence, are identified as potential sources of national identity effects at the indi- vidual level. However, in light of the definition of national identity as being abstract, these mechanisms are also found to be wanting regarding their explanatory power. A major aspect of this thesis is the measurement of national identity, which must take into account the multidimensional nature of the concept and the need for cross-national comparison. National identity is measured along four dimensions: its strength, geographical attachment, evaluation and content. It is found that these represent irreducible aspects of national identity. Furthermore, it is investigated whether national identity is cross-nationally com- parable, both in terms of survey compatibility and equivalence of meaning. A set of novel ideal-types are uncovered using the four dimensions of national identity to characterize countries. Empirically, national identity is associated with individuals' sense of solidarity, although in an unexpected and more general man- ner. Additionally, lower levels of welfare-state benefits and living in post-socialist countries are associated with higher levels of soli- darity. A second analysis provides some plausibility for an indirect national identity political participation mechanism, mediated by social trust and a sense of representation amongst individuals. A further direct relationship between national identity's civic content and political participation found, leading to a discussion on the association between national identity and social cohesion.

Canada in the early twentieth century was a profoundly religious nation, with nearly 95 percent of the population identifying as Christians. The churches were important nation-building institutions, active in social welfare and education, but they also played a more intimate role in the lives of Canadians, determining moral values, providing social gathering points, and offering emotional and spiritual support in difficult times. Throughout the Great War (1914-1918), the churches continued to fulfill these important functions, providing an ideological framework that helped people make sense of the war, understand their duties as both Canadians and Christians, and cope with the sacrifices required of them. This dissertation examines the four major Canadian denominations (Roman Catholicism, Presbyterianism, Methodism, and Anglicanism) in French- and English-speaking Canada. It looks first to establish the varying justifications offered for the war by the churches before using them to contextualize the variety of activities undertaken on behalf of the war effort, activities which included prayer and considerable charitable giving in addition to military service. It then examines the difficult final years of the war. In 1917, as conscription divided English and French Canada over the extent of the commitment to the overseas war effort, differing ideas of imperialism, internationalism, and the division between the moral and the political brought conflict both within and between denominations. Finally, an attempt is made to consider how the churches played a role in mourning the war-dead and imbuing the hoped-for peace with a meaning sufficient to justify the immense sacrifices. By using the churches as an interpretive model, this dissertation adds nuance to the Canadian historiography of the Great War, looking beyond the military effort to the experiences of the home front. It also looks to bring together the histories of French and English Canadians, showing the ways in which French-speaking Catholics supported the war in their own way and illuminating some of the conflicting interpretations of the war held by otherwise supportive English-speaking Canadians.

Investigates kin caregiver's perceptions about social workers and child welfare agencies they worked with in caring for court dependent relative children who are/were placed in their care. A stratified random sample from 150 interviews of kin caregivers with dependent relative children maintained by San Bernardino and Riverside County Child Protective Services allowed for qualitative analysis of interview responses that related kin caregiver's perceptions of social workers and social service agencies. Results indicate that some relative caregivers were satisfied with the support they received from social workers/agency staff, while others did not feel supported at all.

AbstractThis chapter explains the tensor of kum which features centrally in the author’s anthropological work on chiefdoms in eastern and central Africa that centralized into kingdoms. The data intertwine with conversations with a modernly educated chief, a man of the world living in the metropole of Dar es Salaam. The effort of the previous chapter continues as we extend our analysis from frame and sphere to cultural systems and the human species. Ethnographic reflections about lifeways come to the fore, as do intuitions one acquires after being trained in medicine. The training draws on a long-standing initiatory network spanning central and eastern Africa. Divination and initiation keep the chief’s rule medicinal. They prevent power from corrupting into autocracy.Can Western democracies, which presently go through rough times, learn from the mechanisms? An intriguing similarity is how the tensor splits into simplexes, and that members of the human species intuit the split as ‘no good’. Elections are politics of the real that reveal collective reason. The chapter ends with the contrasting case of a European country after 400 days without government. Do the better educated know best?

Hagiographies of old Serbian literature speak of rulers as individuals chosen by God, for the benefit of the people and the country they will rule. Archbishop Danilo, writing about his contemporary, points out that King Milutin surpassed all his predecessors in terms of gender and position in the country. Apart from the typical elements - describing the good deeds of the king, as well as his imposing fundraising endeavors, the peculiarity of this life is reflected in the constant emphasis on God's help to the great king during military campaigns. Regardless of whether the initiator of the conflict was King Milutin himself or the attack on Serbian lands came from the other side, those who opposed the king were punished with a horrible death, thwarted in the endeavor or diplomatically deterred from the original plan. The help that comes from the metaphysical spaces of Good and Truth is at the same time a description of miracles, but the kind of miracle that is less talked about in medieval literature - when the intervention of the Lord punishes, in the already mentioned ways, those who chose the path of evil. Since every attack of others on the Serbian king and the Serbian land is clearly motivated by the invention of the dishonorable, placing King Milutin in opposition to such exponents of reality indirectly speaks of his godliness, correctness of his decisions and actions, but also his orientation towards eschatology.

The article is dedicated to the English King Richard the Lionheart. The authors explore the reasons for the popularity of this king with the English, they made Richard the hero of countless English medieval ballads and songs. The article provides general biographical information on Richard the Lionheart, examining the dynastic grounds for his ascension to the English throne. Opposite to other English kings, Richard received his second noble name “Lionheart” as a result of the Crusade. His amazing courage and even rage for the Holy Sepulchre struggle, sacrifice, energy, commitment to the holy ideals, the talent of a warrior, human kindness are considered the undoubted positive qualities of the king. As the British think these are the basis for this English king to become famous in the history of the country and in the memory of the people. But some historical sources are rather critical towards well-established opinion about Richard the Lionheart, however, the fact of popular recognition of him as a real king, warrior and defender remains unquestionable.

Ka matakitaki iho au ki te riu o Waikato Ano nei hei kapo kau ake maaku Ki te kapu o taku ringa, The words above are from the poem Māori King Tawhiao wrote expressing his love for his homelands of the Waikato and the region known today as the King Country. The words translate to: “I look down on the valley of Waikato, As though to hold it in the hollow of my hand.” Now imagine a large-scale photograph depicting a close-up frame of cupped hands trying to hold something carefully. The words above inform Professor Tom Roa and Dr. Rodrigo Hill’s current research project titled Te Nehenehenui - The Ancient Enduring Beauty in the Great Forest of the King Country. With this project still in its early stages the research team will present past collaborations which they will show leads into new ideas and discussions about photography, wānanga, and place representation. They focus on Māori King Tawhiao’s finding refuge in Te Nehenehenui, later called the King Country in his honour. He led many of his Waikato people into this refuge as a result of the British Invasion and confiscation of their Waikato lands in the latter part of the nineteenth century. The love of and for those lands prompted him to compose his ‘maioha’ - this poem painting a word-picture of these spaces which their photography humbly aims to portray. The project advances the use of wānanga (forums and meetings through which knowledge is discussed and passed on) and other reflective practices, engaging with mana whenua and providing a thread which will guide the construction of the photographic images. The name Te Nehenhenui was conceptualised by Polynesian ancestors who travelled from Tahiti and were impressed with the beauty of the land and the vast verdant forests of the King Country territories in the North Island of Aotearoa New Zealand. The origins of the name and further relevant historical accounts have been introduced and discussed by Professor Tom Roa (Ngāti Apakura, Ngāti Hinewai), Shane Te Ruki (Ngāti Unu, Ngāti Kahu) and Doug Ruki (Ngāti Te Puta I Te Muri, Ngāti Te Kanawa, Ngāti Peehi) in the TVNZ Waka Huia documentary series. The documentary provides a compelling account of the origins of the name Te Nehenehenui, thus informing this project’s core ideas and objectives. The research fuses wānanga, that is Mātauranga Māori, and photographic research approaches in novel ways. It highlights the importance of local Waikato-Maniapoto cosmological narratives and Māori understandings of place in their intersecting with the Western discipline of photography. This practice-led research focuses on photography and offers innovative forms of critical analysis and academic argumentation by constructing, curating, and presenting the photographic work as a public gallery exhibition. For this edition of the LINK Conference, the research team will present early collaborations and current research developments exploring place-making and wānanga as both methodology and photography practice.

The review analyzes the travelogues of Vladan Djordjević, Travel Traces by Vladan Djordjevic (Book One, Belgrade, 1865), Mita Rakić, From New Ser- bia (1881), Metropolitan Mihailo Jovanović, Christian Shrines in the East (1886), Dragomir Brzak, From Avala to Bosphorus (1895), Branislav Nušić, Kosovo - description of the country and the people (1902-03), Grigorij Božović, Lines and cuts (1928), Wonderful angles (1930), as well as Stanislav Krakov, Through southern Serbia (1926). Special attention is paid to the artistic display of the endowments of the Holy King Milutin (such as the monasteries Gračanica and Banjska, St. George in Old Nagoričanin, but also small churches dedicated to Joachim and Anna in the Studenica monastery complex, as well as the monastery Prohor Pčinjski when restored by King Milutin, and among the monastery of the Holy Archangels in Jerusalem near the Church of the Holy Sepulcher is also en- dowed). Milutin's famous endowment of the Mother of God Ljeviska in Prizren at that time was turned into a mosque and therefore is not described in detail in the travelogues. The saintly cult of King Milutin and his grave site in the church of the "Holy King" in Sofia, which was built in 1865, etc., were also pointed out.

Streszczenie:

The author analyzes the provisions of the Vidоvdan Constitution which regulate the position and competence of the executive branch. With the Vidovdan Constitution, the Kingdom of Serbs Croats and Slovenes was proclaimed a constitutional parliamentary and hereditary monarchy in which the King has a central constitutional position and the position of an undisputed holder of executive power. The executive power is made available to the king, which is exercised by the ministers for him, with him and his subordinates. Ministers form the Council of Ministers (Government) and are at the head of certain administrative departments. Although the Constitution proclaimed parliamentarism, there was no classic parliamentary responsibility of ministers before the Assembly. The king was a political factor that enters the field of competence of other holders of power, and thus the division of power provided by the constitution "falls away". The king's power extends to the civil and military field of life of the state, to the external and internal spheres. Although the adoption of the Vidovdan Constitution aimed to create a unified system of organization and division of power, the internal state and political situation in the country, after the adoption of the Constitution, became more complicated and filled with frequent ministerial crises and conflicts of political parties. The King's domination and his frequent "going out" outside the constitutional framework resulted in increasing centralization and, in the end, a coup d'etat and the establishment of King Alexander Karadjordjevic's personal dictatorship.

The idea of crisis and apocalypses, represented both as catastrophic climatic events and as social and political upheavals, do generate the collapse of every feeling of security, in all times. Since the beginning of the second millennium, Mesopotamian culture has found in the assertion of the eternal continuity of kingship a way to reassure and to convince all the members of the society - at least the urban elites, but possibly a larger audience - to trust the state and its structures. People had to believe that kingship alone could establish a permanent relationship with the gods and other forces present in the world, the final condition to obtain all was need to survive and to get security and happiness: Atrahasis' deal with Enlil after the Flood is, in our perspective, one of the turning point of the Bronze Age. However, quite soon, other literary texts show the dissatisfaction of people facing death, war, illness and social disruption, even if the deal was there. The composition of Enuma Elish was undoubtedly an effort to tell a new story of the world and of men without Floods, under the firm control of the new king of the gods, a new cosmic kingship assuring the perfect balance of history. Iron Age II literature reveals the weakness of this model. Even if the creation of the last empires seems to document the installation of a period of security, prosperity and happiness for everyone accepting to be integrated into them, the final collapse of kingship, state, and all the structures promising security was near - and people knew that. That world, suddenly emptied, appears quickly under our eyes.

The shortest titulature would consist of the ruler's name and title. Broader ones contained territorial indicators – namely lands ruled by the ruler, the ruler's byname and formulaic phrase of devotion to God (the Dei gratia phrase) usually in the form of by the grace of God, which emphasizes the source, i.e. the origin of the ruler's sovereignty in the country, which is in compliance with the understandings of those times. Titulatures are to be found in written documents (charters and letters) issued in the ruler's chancellery, within the intitulations at the beginning, and in the signature at the end of the document. In written documents, of various origins, which attest the relations between the ruler and the external factors, titulatures are to be found either within the inscription (address) of the documents sent or in documents in which the ruler represents a political factor. Other than that, titulatures are to be found on seals, coins, founder's inscriptions, inscriptions next to portraits/frescoes resembling the rulers, on objects-gifts to churches or monasteries, on manuscripts, and just as importantly, in narrative sources (domestic and foreign), contemporary or somewhat younger. Through all the listed examples above, we are able examine the titulature of King Milutin. Firstly, attention is focused on the ruler's name, as an essential part of the titulature. The subject of study is the king's baptismal name Milutin, rarely present in official use, the ruling name Stefan and the name Uroš, which was carried by the king's father and to which we will pay special attention to. The constant highlighting of the fact that Milutin is the direct descendant of previous kings, throw genealogical elements found in a number of more extensive titulatures, had a special political-practical and ideological significance for King Milutin, with which he sought to legitimize his rule, since he had taken the throne from his older brother in extraordinary circumstances. In this work, we shall try to classify the titulatures of King Milutin by their types, sources in which they appear, according to content, constituent elements, extent, etc. Special attention will also be paid to the innovations of the content, that is, the changes in the titulature that came as a consequence of political events.

Indonesia is one of the big economy countries, with the share of global GDP ranked 7th in 2022. However, Indonesia is still categorized as a developing country. According to the UN and World Bank, developing countries are characterized as a country with relatively low standards of living which indicated from low to middle GNI per capita, underdeveloped industrialization relative to its population, and moderate to low Human Development Index (HDI). Based on the definition, Indonesia GNI per capita in 2022 is USD4,783.9, which based on World Bank standards in 2022 is still categorized as upper middle-income country. Then, Indonesian HDI is 0.7 which is categorized as high but ranked 130 out of 199 countries. Lastly, Indonesia experienced premature industrialization with a declining contribution of industry sector to GDP (figure 1). Nevertheless, Indonesia has a vision to become a developed country in 2045, as a 100-year commemoration of Indonesia independence. This vision, which referred to Vision of Indonesia 2045, became a national target as stated in the draft of National Long-Term Development Plan 2025-2045 (RPJPN). In the document, the Indonesian government aspires to achieve a high income country in 2045, with GNI per capita USD30,300 or nearly 5 times current condition. To achieve the aspiration, Indonesia requires GDP growth above historical average and structural transformation. The document also stated that, Indonesia should first improve the Total Factor Productivity (TFP) which in 2005-2019 grew negatively around 0.66, and to improve TFP, Indonesia requires HDI improvement, also research and innovation. Indonesia also requires growth in the industry sector as the most important factor to increase GDP, because Indonesia should pivot from hard commodities-based extraction and processing, especially coal and crude palm oil (CPO) which historically has had a positive major contribution to Indonesian balance of trade. Since energy has a strong link with the economy and is crucial in maintaining or improving lifestyle (Chontanawat et al., 2008; King & Van Den Bergh, 2018; Stern, 2019). Indonesia will require energy to support its economic growth. In the context of energy challenges, Indonesia should balance the energy trilemmas, which based on the World Energy Council are energy affordability, security, and sustainability. Based on the current condition, to ensure affordability, the Indonesian government subsidizes fossil energy sources, such as gasoline, LPG, natural gas for certain industries, and electricity which is based on coal. Then, to ensure security, Indonesia has plans to reduce its dependence on oil import and currently utilize coal as one of its abundance resources. Finally, to ensure sustainability, Indonesia pledged to develop its economy based on low carbon energy, as stated in the enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution (eNDC) that Indonesia will achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) in 2060 or sooner. However, the commitment to energy sustainability will require rebalancing in energy affordability and security which are currently still heavily related to fossil energy. Therefore, both Vision of 2045 and NZE in 2060 or sooner, requires an overarching transformative long-term target in both Indonesia's energy and economy system.

Educational research is only one of the areas of scientific research, or a branch of scientific research, as a careful, organized and critical attempt to address educational problems and issues of a practical nature, starting from monitoring and identifying the problem and subjecting it to the test of meditation, reflection and diagnosis in order to reach possible and appropriate solutions to it, as educational research is a mechanism of developing the work of teachers and raising the quality of their composition and improving their classroom practices, in addition to contributing to the drawing of educational policy, and providing information And the data needed for educational decision-making... If the educational research has all these and other advantages, we find that the ministry of the guardian of the national education sector in the Kingdom of Morocco did not give him the status that befits him, and the result was the emergence of an educational crisis in our country, where our educational system occupied very low ranks as will come later, which made king Mohammed VI Nasrallah warn of the seriousness of the crisis in his historic speech 20 August 2013.This was recently revealed by the Development Model Committee in April 2021. The Ministry has recently been alerted to the importance of educational scientific research in addressing this educational crisis and has issued some regulations and legislation to encourage it. Despite the state's efforts in this area, the meditator of the educational research situation in the various research centers in our country, as in other Arab countries, notes that there are many obstacles and difficulties in it and limit its performance of its expected role. From this point of view, this modest study came to shed more light on the reality of educational research in the regional centers of the professions of education and training, focusing on the most important difficulties facing it, hoping to find appropriate solutions to this situation in order to build a new Moroccan school that responds to the expectations of society and looks forward to its development prospects.
