OBJECTIVEJackson-Pratt drains (JPDs) are commonly employed in pediatric craniofacial reconstructive surgery (CRFS) to reduce postoperative wound complications, but their risk profile remains unknown. Perioperative blood loss and volume shifts are major risks of CFRS. The goal of this study was to evaluate the risks of JPD usage in CFRS, particularly with regard to perioperative blood loss, hyponatremia, intensive care unit (ICU) length of stay, and postoperative wound complications.METHODSThe authors performed a retrospective review of data obtained in pediatric patients who underwent CFRS at a single institution, as performed by multiple surgeons between January 2010 and December 2014. Data were gathered from patients who did and did not receive JPDs at the time of surgery. Outcome measures were compared between the JPD and no-JPD groups.RESULTSThe overall population 179 pediatric patients: 128 who received JPDs and 51 who did not. In their analysis, the authors found no significant differences in baseline patient characteristics between the two groups. The average JPD output over the first 48 hours was 222 ± 142 ml. When examining the immediate preoperative to immediate postoperative time period, no significant differences were noted between the groups with regard to the need for blood transfusion or changes in hemoglobin, hematocrit, or serum sodium levels. These differences were also not significant when examining the 48-hour postoperative period. Finally, no significant differences in hospital length of stay, ICU length of stay, or emergency department visits at 60 days were noted between the two groups.CONCLUSIONSIn this retrospective study, the use of JPDs in pediatric CFRS was not associated with an increased risk of serious perioperative complications, although the benefits of this practice remain unclear.

In parallel with the prevalence metabolic syndrome, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become the most common chronic liver disease in most countries. It features a constellation of simple steatosis, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), fibrosis, cirrhosis, and even hepatocellular carcinoma. There are no approved drugs for effective management of NAFLD and NASH. Jianpi Huoxue formula (JPHX) mainly consists of Atractylodes macrocephal(Baizhu), Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen), Rasux Paeonia Alba (Baishao), Rhizoma Alismatis (Zexie), and Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis (Wuweizi), which may have beneficial effects on NAFLD. The aim of the study was to identify the effect of JPHX on NAFLD.A NAFLD model was induced by methionine-choline-deficient food (MCD) in Wistar rats and orally administered with simultaneous JPHX, once a day for 8 weeks. Hepatocellular injury, lipid profile, inflammation, fibrosis, and apoptosis were evaluated. The results showed that JPHX significantly decreased the abnormal serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels compared with the MCD model (P<0.05). Furthermore, JPHX protected MCD diet-fed rats from accumulation of hepatic triglycerides (TG) and total cholesterol (TC). Histological examination demonstrated that JPHX noticeably normalized the NAFLD activity score (NAS). Moreover, JPHX ameliorated liver inflammation by decreasing TNF-αlevels and reduced collagen and matrix metalloproteinases in MCD diet-fed rats. In addition, JPHX prevented rats from MCD-induced cellular apoptosis, as suggested by TUNEL staining, and suppressed the activation of caspase 3 and 7 proteins. JPHX also inhibited the phosphorylation of JNK. In conclusion, JPHX exhibited a hepatoprotective effect against NAFLD in an MCD experimental model.

When compared to independent harmonic or stochastic excitation, there exist relatively few methods to model the response of non-linear systems to a combination of deterministic and stochastic vibration despite the likelihood of harmonic oscillations containing noise in realistic applications. This paper uses the Duffing oscillator to illustrate how the joint probability density function (JPDF) of the displacement and velocity responds to this form of excitation. Monte Carlo simulations were performed to generate the JPDF which was observed, in general, to spread around the trajectory that would be observed if only deterministic excitation was present. In the deterministic chaotic case, the JPDF is known to be a diffuse chaotic attractor when noise is present. This paper assesses the ability of a useful class of methods, global weighted residual methods, to produce the geometrically complex JPDF responses produced from harmonic and white noise excitation. A technique using a JPDF in the form of a Gram–Charlier type C series was found to produce accurate results, although the method fails due to ill-conditioning as the shape of the JPDF required by the dynamics becomes too complex.

To reduce the computational complexity of JPDA and resolve closely-spaced targets efficiently, decompose JPDA into parallel PDA algorithms without regarding the correlation of targets. For a target, measurements are all clutter except the ones originated from itself. The PDA algorithm to track every single target with fixed covariance of states. When targets got closed within thick clutter, try to avoid coalescence and reduce complexity of association, maintaining the independence of targets through neglecting the assignment association model of measurement-to-track which used to happen once targets gates got overlapped. Simulations give arguments that parallel PDA has a better performance than JPDA in tracking closely-spaced targets.

Since the 2006 bidding rounds, exploration activity in both the Timor-Leste exclusive offshore area (TLEA) and joint petroleum development area (JPDA) has progressed steadily. Within the JPDA, exploration remains largely focussed in the Jurassic-age Plover and Elang Sandstone formations in the Flamingo Trough-Sahul Syncline region. Over 700 MMbbls of liquids and 4Tcf of gas have been discovered in this western region of the JPDA, including the 2008 Kitan oil field discovery by Eni, which is currently scheduled for production in 2011. Recent seismic survey activity within the JPDA by PSC holders Petronas and Oilex has resulted in the combined acquisition of 2,800 square kilometres of new 3D data. These surveys, together with on-going re-evaluation of existing well data by these companies, has helped further refine the knowledge of petroleum systems within the JPDA, in preparation for drilling campaigns scheduled for late 2009 and early 2010. Within the TLEA, multi-client seismic surveys undertaken in 2005, together with on-shore academic research, indicates that the prospective Mesozoic sequence of the Northern Bonaparte Basin underlies the Timor Trough, greatly enhancing the petroleum prospectivity of this region. Further detailed 2D and 3D seismic surveys in the TLEA have been recently completed by PSC holders Reliance Exploration and Eni. The first wells to be drilled in this deeper water frontier region are scheduled for 2010.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are reported act as important regulators in various types of cancer. LncRNA JPX was identified as an oncogenic regulator in lung cancer. However, the function of JPX in the progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remains unclear. In the present study, we found JPX was highly expressed in esophageal tissue from ESCC patients. Functional assays demonstrated that JPX promoted ESCC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro, and accelerated tumor growth in vivo. Mechanistically, the results showed that JPX functioned as a sponge of miR-516b-5p, which targeted vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) in ESCC cells. Interactions between miR-516b-5p and JPX or VEGFA were confirmed by luciferase reporter assays. Inhibition of JPX significantly attenuated the cell growth and mobility ability of ESCC cells in vitro. In addition, overexpression of miR-516b-5p abrogated JPX-enhanced proliferation, migration, invasion, and angiogenesis of ESCC cells. Our study demonstrated that JPX played an important role in promoting ESCC progression via the miR-516b-5p/VEGFA pathway, which might serve as a promising novel diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target for ESCC in clinic.

Abstract Emerging studies have shown that the aberrant expression and function of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in carcinogenesis and the development of various cancers. The long noncoding RNA JPX (lncRNA JPX) on the X chromosome is an activator of X-inactive-specific transcript (XIST) and is a molecular switch for X-chromosome inactivation. However, the exact mechanism by which JPX acts in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is not well studied. Here, through integrating clinical data and a series of functional experiments, we found that lncRNA JPX expression is significantly upregulated in NSCLC tissues compared with that in paired adjacent normal tissues from two independent datasets and significantly associated with a poor survival and other malignant phenotypes (tumor stage, tumor volume) of NSCLC. Furthermore, we elucidated that JPX functions as an oncogene in NSCLC-promoting cell proliferation and cell migration by affecting cell-cycle progression. Mechanistically, JPX upregulates cyclin D2 (CCND2) expression in a competing endogenous RNA mechanism by interacting with miR-145-5p, thus provoking the development and progression of NSCLC. These findings reveal the mechanism of X-chromosome lncRNA JPX and its core regulatory circuitry JPX/miR-145-5p/CCND2 in the development and progression of NSCLC, which bring us closer to an understanding of the molecular drivers of NSCLC.

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan implementasi program jaminan pendidikan daerah (JPD) di SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu kepala sekolah, guru pengelola JPD dan siswa di SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan model Miles, Huberman, dan Saldana yaitu dengan langkah kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Uji keabsahan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan triangulasi sumber dan teknik.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa : (1) Dalam implementasi program jaminan pendidikan daerah di SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta terdapat mekanisme diantaranya : mengumpulkan data siswa yang mempunyai identitas Kartu Menuju Sejahtera (KMS), merekap data, dan mengumpulkan data ke dinas pendidikan. (2) Implementasi program jaminan pendidikan daerah di SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta terdapat pelaksanaan yang meliputi empat aspek yang diantaranya : komunikasi, sumberdaya, disposisi, dan struktur birokrasi. (3) Pelaksanaan program JPD didukung dengan komunikasi melalui sosialisasi dengan orangtua siswa, sumberdaya manusia yang didukung dengan fasilitas, anggaran, kewenangan, serta disposisi kinerja yang maksimal, struktur birokrasi yang sesuai dengan petunjuk teknis pelaksanaan program JPD dan kerja sama antar sekolah, dinas pendidikan dan orangtua. Kata Kunci : Implementasi dan Jaminan Pendidikan Daerah (JPD) Abstract This study aims to describe the implementation regional education guarantee in SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta.This research is a descriptive qualitative. Subjects in this study were students, teacher (school managers in the JPD) and headmaster SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used is qualitative descriptive from Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model (data condensation, data display, and verifying conclusions). Validity measured in this research using triangulation. The result of the research show that : (1) The mechanism for implementation regional education guarantee (JPD) in SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta : collecting data from students who have KMS cards, recapitulating data, and collecting data to the education office. (2) Implementation regional education guarantee (JPD) in SMP Negeri 10 Yogyakarta covering four aspects of communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. (3) The implementation of the JPD has been supported with communication through socialization with parents, human resources, facilities, budget, authority, and maximum performance, in accordance with technical guidelines implementation of JPD cooperation between school, education office and parents. <p>The study attempts to assess the journal packing density (JPD) of the research journals published across Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) countries during 2013-2015. The JPD of the research journals has been computed on the basis of volume. The study covers 27 main subject disciplines and the JPD has been calculated against each individual subject discipline. 2499 research journals were identified as indexed by the Scopus from the BRICS countries, constituting 6.92 per cent of total research journals indexed by the Scopus all across the world. China is the leading country from the BRICS league to have the maximum 914 (36.57%) research journals. The average JPD of the research journals published across BRICS nations is 132.77 research articles per journal per volume, which is far greater than the average global JPD of 101.84 research articles. On average 92.55 research journals are published across BRICS countries in each subject discipline. Physics and astronomy, engineering, and energy are the three leading subject disciplines among BRICS nations having maximum JPD of 209.52, 191.40, and 190.08 research articles per journal per volume. Apart from these, there are various other facts which have come to the fore about the prevailing trend of JPD among BRICS nations.</p>

Abstract NF-κB is required for prevention of apoptosis. We examined the importance of human T-cell leukemia virus–I (HTLV-I) Tax protein to stimulate NF-κB nuclear translocation, thus preventing apoptosis. Jurkat cells and JPX-9 cells in which the inducible Tax expression plasmid vector was stably transfected were used in the present study. Both Jurkat and Tax− JPX-9 cells had small amounts of basal nuclear NF-κB activity. The addition of NF-κB inhibitors suppressed NF-κB nuclear translocation of the cells, thus inducing apoptosis. Sequential activation of caspases from caspase-8 to caspase-3 was shown during this process. NF-κB nuclear translocation in JPX-9 cells was stimulated through Tax expression, and both the activation of caspases and apoptosis induced by NF-κB inhibitors were significantly suppressed in the Tax+ JPX-9 cells. The expression of Bcl-2, Bax, and Bcl-x was not changed among Jurkat, Tax− JPX-9, and Tax+ JPX-9 cells in the presence or absence of NF-κB inhibitors. X-chromosome–linked inhibitor of apoptosis (XIAP) protein expression in Tax−JPX-9 cells was significantly suppressed by NF-κB inhibitors, however, its expression in Tax+ JPX-9 cells was maintained even by the addition of NF-κB inhibitors. Our results suggest that the activation of NF-κB via Tax protein in HTLV-I infected cells renders the cells resistant to apoptosis. The expression of anti-apoptotic gene products such as XIAP to suppress caspase cascade, results in an increase of cytokine production and cell proliferation; one of the proposed mechanisms that promotes autoimmune disorders such as Sjögren’s syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis found in HTLV-I seropositive subjects.

Jet power drive system of quarter vehicle is put forwarded to improve starting drive efficiency. It analyzes JPD working principle, adds a jet power and researches for the basic simulation of control model with slip-rate as the control object based on PID control theory. The academic feasibility of jet power drive system is expatiated, that is based on the principle of compressed air power which is applied to the starting drive system, then establishes dynamics model of a new automotive anti-slip drive system and simulation model of ASR&JPD by the MATLAB/Simulink. The simulation tests are designed to compare with the curves of vehicle speed and driving wheel velocity using the JPD. The graph proves that JPD can reduce starting drive distance at 21%--77% and starting drive time at 12%--70%. Augmentation rate of vehicle acceleration exceeds 50%. The results show that the ASR&JPD can increase starting drive efficiency.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Non-coding RNAs are emerging as critical players for the onset and progression of cancer. Analyses of three different datasets revealed that the lncRNA JPX was overexpressed in adenocarcinoma tissues in comparison to normal lungs, as expected for an oncogene. Intriguingly, the predicted binding miR-378a-3p showed a significant inverse correlation with JPX expression. The lncRNA/miRNA physical interaction was validated by reporter vectors. Then, the oncogenic activity of JPX, the tumor-suppressive role of miR-378a-3p, and the contribution of their functional interaction to cancer hallmarks were demonstrated using assays for cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and 3D-spheroid formation. Finally, molecular circuits were investigated by boosting the expression of both JPX and miR-378a-3p, singularly and in combination, demonstrating that JPX counteracted miR-378a-3p silencing activity toward its oncogenic targets GLUT1, NRP1, YY1, and Wnt5a. Overall, the data unveil a novel ceRNET (competing endogenous RNA network), wherein JPX acts as a ceRNA by binding to miR-378a-3p, thus reducing the miRNA silencing activity toward its downstream targets, and eliciting oncogenic pathways driving lung cancer. The knowledge of the network may pave the way to develop new diagnostic panels, and innovative RNA-targeted and RNA-based therapeutic strategies.

Purpose The study aims to assess the journal packing density (JPD) of the research journals published across different subject discipline at the global level. The concept of JPD is aimed to compute the average number of research articles published per volume or per issue of a research journal in any given subject discipline. The study also discusses about the leading research journals publishing countries and continents across the world and their average JPD. An attempt has also been made to identify the leading research counties having maximum JPD in any given subject discipline. Design/methodology/approach The study covers 27 major research subject disciplines widely popular all across the globe. To undertake the present study, data were retrieved from SCImago Journal and Country Ranking. Findings In all, 36,081 research journals were indexed by Scopus across 27 major subject disciplines at the global level till 2015. During the period 2013-2015, 11,023,122 research articles were published in 36,081 research journals across 27 major subject disciplines at the global level at an average of 101.84 research articles per journal per volume. This means the average JPD of the research journals at the global level is 101.84 research articles per journal per volume. Chemistry, physics and astronomy and multidisciplinary journals are the three leading subject disciplines to have the maximum JPD, namely, 266.66, 253.92 and 242.53 research articles per journal per volume. JPD of research journals published in the sciences is higher than the JPD of research journals published in the social sciences and humanities. Business, management and accounting, social sciences and arts and humanities are three subject disciplines having lowest JPD, namely, 44.26, 35.68 and 32.66 research articles per journal per volume, respectively. China, Ireland and The Netherlands recorded the highest average JPD in the research journals published from these counties, namely, 213.39, 178.44 and 135.31 research articles per journal per volume, respectively. Research limitations/implications Countries from where a lesser number of research journals are indexed by the popular indexes, such as Scopus, Web of Science, etc., face greater pressure of publishing. To ooze out this pressure, there is need to index more and more research journals from these countries and that can be done only by improving and maintaining the research standard over a period. Originality/value The study is original and the first of its kind undertaken at the global level across all the major subject disciplines.

The multiple maneuvering target tracking algorithm based on a particle filter is addressed. The equivalent-noise approach is adopted, which uses a simple dynamic model consisting of target state and equivalent noise which accounts for the combined effects of the process noise and maneuvers. The equivalent-noise approach converts the problem of maneuvering target tracking to that of state estimation in the presence of nonstationary process noise with unknown statistics. A novel method for identifying the nonstationary process noise is proposed in the particle filter framework. Furthermore, a particle filter based multiscan Joint Probability Data Association (JPDA) filter is proposed to deal with the data association problem in a multiple maneuvering target tracking. In the proposed multiscan JPDA algorithm, the distributions of interest are the marginal filtering distributions for each of the targets, and these distributions are approximated with particles. The multiscan JPDA algorithm examines the joint association events in a multiscan sliding window and calculates the marginal posterior probability based on the multiscan joint association events. The proposed algorithm is illustrated via an example involving the tracking of two highly maneuvering, at times closely spaced and crossed, targets, based on resolved measurements.

As the existence value of customers increases in corporate management activities, the need for customer-centered management is on the rise. The purpose of this study is to propose a framework that companies can use in practice to develop a customer centered management system. To this end, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation(JPDC)'s customer centered management cases were defined as 79 detailed activities and the types were classified. Although JPDC is a public enterprise, it sells general consumer good, bottled water called “Jeju Samdasoo” and has been certified for Consumer Centered Management in 2022, so it was judged to be an appropriate company to use in developing a framework of implementing customer centered management. As a result, the framework consisting of strategy establishment, system establishment, process operation, and product/service improvement was derived. In addition, 13 employees of the JPDC were used as subjects and, as a result of receiving and analyzing surveys belonging to which types of 79 activities, the reliability of the framework presented in this study was secured. We expect the suggested framework of implementing customer centered management will improve understanding of customer centered management and present a direction of business strategy.

The development of low-emission aero-engine combustors strongly depends on the availability of accurate and efficient numerical models. The prediction of the interaction between two-phase flow and chemical combustion is one of the major objectives of the simulation of combustor flows. In this paper, predictions of a swirl stabilized model combustor are compared to experimental data. The computational method is based on an Eulerian two-phase model in conjunction with an eddy dissipation (ED) and a presumed-shape-PDF (JPDF) combustion model. The combination of an Eulerian two-phase model with a JPDF combustion model is a novelty. It was found to give good agreement to the experimental data.

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background:</strong> Juvenile plantar dermatosis (JPD) is characterized by shiny dry fissured dermatitis of the plantar surface of the foot, affecting children aged 3-14years. The most accepted theory is that JPD is a frictional contact dermatitis of the forefoot in which atopics are more prone to develop. Allergic contact dermatitis remains a close differential diagnosis; it can aggravate the predisposing JPD. In this background we carried out a study among children aged fourteen years and below with clinically diagnosed JPD to know the age and sex profile, aggravating factors and clinical features in this part of the country<span lang="EN-IN">.</span></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> All children aged 14 years and below with JPD attending our outpatient department from November 2006 to November 2007 were included in this study. Using a preset proforma, data regarding age and sex, information on any relation to footwear, past history of allergic disorders in person or family members was collected. All the 40 patients were patch tested using the footwear allergen series in petrolatum base. Patch test unit was removed after 48hours and the results were interpreted using criteria laid down by International Contact Dermatitis Group (ICDRG). The data was analyzed and made an attempt to understand the role of footwear allergy in JPD.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> 22 girls and 18 boys attended our OPD with JPD between the age group of 4-14 years. 52.5% were using footwear made of plastic; 25%used leather; 12.5% rubber footwear. Patients presented with erythema and glazed appearance of foot along with fissuring. The areas of involvement were distal soles and toes in 70%, distal sole alone in 7.5% and distal sole and dorsum of toes in 22.5% of patients. Personal history of atopy was documented in 15% of patients and family history of atopy was present in 20% of cases. 20% of patients complained of exacerbation with footwear. Of the 40 patients who underwent patch testing, 10% only showed <span lang="EN-IN">positive patch test reaction mainly to potassium dichromate (5%). </span></p><p class="abstract"><strong>Conclusions:</strong> JPD is not an uncommon disease and it predominantly affects school going children. Seasonal variation was associated with aggravation of disease. Specific footwear was identified to cause flare ups in a significant percentage of study population (20%) and this was proven by patch test results in half of them. Though nearly one fifth of the affected had an atopic diathesis in person or family, the present data suggests that JPD is not exclusive to atopics. A large sized study is required to <span lang="EN-IN">evaluate the role of footwear in JPD.</span></p>

Background. In the present study, we aimed to find out whether luteolin (Lut) pretreatment could ameliorate myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury by regulating the lncRNA just proximal to XIST (JPX)/microRNA-146b (miR-146b) axis. Methods. We established the models in vitro (HL-1 cells) and in vivo (C57BL/6J mice) to certify the protection mechanism of Lut pretreatment on myocardial I/R injury. Dual luciferase reporter gene assay was utilized for validating that JPX could bind to miR-146b. JPX and miR-146b expression levels were determined by RT-qPCR. Western blot was utilized to examine apoptosis-related protein expression levels, including cleaved caspase-9, caspase-9, cleaved caspase-3, caspase-3, Bcl-2, Bax, and BAG-1. Apoptosis was analyzed by Annexin V-APC/7-AAD dualstaining, Hoechst 33342 staining, as well as flow cytometry. Animal echocardiography was used to measure cardiac function (ejection fraction (EF) and fractional shortening (FS) indicators). Results. miR-146b was demonstrated to bind and recognize the JPX sequence site by dual luciferase reporter gene assay. The expression level of miR-146b was corroborated to be enhanced by H/R using RT-qPCR ( P < 0.001 vs. Con). Moreover, JPX could reduce the expression of miR-146b, whereas inhibiting JPX could reverse the alteration ( P < 0.001 vs. H/R, respectively). Western blot analysis demonstrated that Lut pretreatment increased BAG-1 expression level and Bcl-2/Bax ratio, but diminished the ratio of cleaved caspase 9/caspase 9 and cleaved caspase 3/caspase 3 ( P < 0.001 vs. H/R, respectively). Moreover, the cell apoptosis change trend, measured by Annexin V-APC/7-AAD dualstaining, Hoechst 33342 staining, along with flow cytometry, was consistent with that of apoptosis-related proteins. Furthermore, pretreatment with Lut improved cardiac function (EF and FS) ( P < 0.001 vs. I/R, respectively), as indicated in animal echocardiography. Conclusion. Our results demonstrated that in vitro and in vivo, Lut pretreatment inhibited apoptosis via the JPX/miR-146b axis, ultimately improving myocardial I/R injury.

Human activity recognition (HAR) based on the wearable device has attracted more attention from researchers with sensor technology development in recent years. However, personalized HAR requires high accuracy of recognition, while maintaining the model’s generalization capability is a major challenge in this field. This paper designed a compact wireless wearable sensor node, which combines an air pressure sensor and inertial measurement unit (IMU) to provide multi-modal information for HAR model training. To solve personalized recognition of user activities, we propose a new transfer learning algorithm, which is a joint probability domain adaptive method with improved pseudo-labels (IPL-JPDA). This method adds the improved pseudo-label strategy to the JPDA algorithm to avoid cumulative errors due to inaccurate initial pseudo-labels. In order to verify our equipment and method, we use the newly designed sensor node to collect seven daily activities of 7 subjects. Nine different HAR models are trained by traditional machine learning and transfer learning methods. The experimental results show that the multi-modal data improve the accuracy of the HAR system. The IPL-JPDA algorithm proposed in this paper has the best performance among five HAR models, and the average recognition accuracy of different subjects is 93.2%.

AbstractThe recent claim of Google to have brought forth a breakthrough in quantum computing represents a major impetus to further analyze the foundations for any claims of superiority regarding quantum algorithms. This note attempts to present a conceptual step in this direction. I start with a critical analysis of what is commonly referred to as entanglement and quantum nonlocality and whether or not these concepts may be the basis of quantum superiority. Bell-type experiments are then interpreted as statistical tests of Bohr’s principle of complementarity (PCOM), which is, thus, given a foothold within the area of quantum informatics and computation. PCOM implies (by its connection to probability) that probabilistic algorithms may proceed without the knowledge of joint probability distributions (jpds). The computation of jpds is exponentially time consuming. Consequently, classical probabilistic algorithms, involving the computation of jpds for n random variables, can be outperformed by quantum algorithms (for large values of n). Quantum probability theory (QPT) modifies the classical formula for the total probability (FTP). Inference based on the quantum version of FTP leads to a constructive interference that increases the probability of some events and reduces that of others. The physical realization of this probabilistic advantage is based on the discreteness of quantum phenomena (as opposed to the continuity of classical phenomena).

In this paper a modified JPDA algorithm to avoid track coalescence is proposed. An exclusive measurement is defined for every target in the new algorithm, and with other targets will be pruned, which resists two or more targets share the same measurement as a key measurement and avoids track coalescence. The simulation results show that the new algorithm can effectively solve track coalescence problem in all kinds of scenarios, while keeping a high tracking performance.

The polygenic and polychronous character of zircon texture is the key source of information on the conditions of its growth and secondary alterations. In this research the JPD method of processing of the BSE and CL images including plotting of JPD histograms and JPD maps of grains was developed and applied for quantitative study of the internal texture of zircon grains with micron spatial resolution and for its use in geochronometry. The nomenclature for distinguished zones on the generalized diagram (BSE vs. CL) is suggested for zircons of a wide range of the conditions of its formation, age, size, texture types, and degrees of structure disordering. The JPD-analysis of zircon internal texture is applied for interpretation of the nature of variations in the BSE and CL intensities within an individual heterogeneous grain (on the quantitative level) and between different grains (on the qualitative level). The approach is suggested as the preliminary stage during geochronological studies increasing the reliability of the local electron microprobe and mass spectrometry isotope dating of the mineral.

Belum efektif- nya program JPD dalam mencapai tujuannya menjadi latarbelakang kajian ini. Pentingnya penilaian untuk menjelaskan ala- san-alasan program JPD tersebut belum efektif menjadi tujuan dari penulisan ini. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif digunakan penulis untuk menjelaskan secara objektif, detail, dan mendalam terhadap hasil yang telah diperolah di lapangan. Teknik obser- vasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi digunakan penulis dalam pengumpulan datanya. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa implementasi program Jaminan Pendidikan Daerah (JPD) di kota Yogyakarta belum efektif mencapai tujuannya dikare- nakan: pertama, hasil penilaian keluaran (output) program seperti akses, bias, cakupan, dan ketepatan layanan menunjukkan belum efektif dilaksanakan. Kedua, penilaian hasil keluaran (outcome) program menunjukkan bahwa bantuan yang diberikan kepada para siswa KMS secara langsung dapat dirasakan. Namun, secara lebih lanjut pada penilaian kedua yaitu dampak jangka menengah (intermediate) belum menunjukkan efektif karena motivasi belajar maupun prestasi belajar siswa KMS masih dapat dikatakan rendah. Selanjutnya, dampak jangka panjang (long-term) belum dapat terwujud dan masih menjadi harapan program.

The subgrid-scale (SGS) potential temperature flux and stress in the atmospheric surface layer are studied using field measurement data. We analyse the mean values of the SGS temperature flux, the SGS temperature flux production rate, the SGS temperature variance production rate, the SGS stress and the SGS stress production rate conditional on both the resolvable-scale velocity and temperature, which must be reproduced by SGS models for large-eddy simulation to reproduce the one-point resolvable-scale velocity–temperature joint probability density function (JPDF). The results show that the conditional statistics generally depend on the resolvable-scale velocity and temperature fluctuations, indicating that these conditional variables have strong influences on the resolvable-scale statistics. The dependencies of the conditional SGS stress and the SGS stress production rate, which are partly due to the effects of flow history and buoyancy, suggest that model predictions of the SGS stress also affect the resolvable-scale temperature statistics. The results for the conditional flux and the conditional flux production rate vectors have similar trends. These conditional vectors are also well aligned. The positive temperature fluctuations associated with updrafts are found to have a qualitatively different influence on the conditional statistics than the negative temperature fluctuations associated with downdrafts. The conditional temperature flux and the temperature flux production rate predicted using several SGS models are compared with measurements in statistical a priori tests. The predictions using the nonlinear model are found to be closely related to the predictions using the Smagorinsky model. Several potential effects of the SGS model deficiencies on the resolvable-scale statistics, such as the overprediction of the vertical mean temperature gradient and the underprediction of the vertical temperature flux, are identified. The results suggest that efforts to improve the LES prediction of a resolvable-scale statistic must consider all the relevant SGS components identified using the JPDF equation and the surface layer dynamics. This study also provides impetus for further investigations of the JPDF equation, especially analytical studies on the relationship between the JPDF and the SGS terms that govern its evolution.

Ground radar stations observing specific regions of interest nowadays provide detections in the form of point-clouds. This article focuses on a framework that consists of an elliptical multitarget tracker, referred to as Principal-Axes based Kalman Filter (PAKF)-based Joint Probabilistic Data Association (JPDA) (PAKF-JPDA), to enable maritime traffic monitoring. The framework touches on two major stages, target detection and target tracking. For the former, we employed a clustering approach and for the latter, we presented a data-association-based version of the PAKF tracker with an automatic track management functionality. The framework’s benefits are demonstrated when it is applied to the radar streaming in a harbor setting based on a homogeneous multisensor tracking system by comparing our results against their corresponding reference data with visualizations, including performance measures.

In ultra-rare bone diseases, information on growth during childhood is sparse. Juvenile Paget disease (JPD) is an ultra-rare disease, characterized by loss of function of osteoprotegerin (OPG). OPG inhibits osteoclast activation via the receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB (RANK) pathway. In JPD, overactive osteoclasts result in inflammatory-like bone disease due to grossly elevated bone resorption. Knowledge on the natural history of JPD, including final height and growth, is limited. Most affected children receive long-term antiresorptive treatment, mostly with bisphosphonates, to contain bone resorption, which may affect growth. In this study, we report the follow-up of height, growth velocity, and skeletal maturation in a 16-year-old female patient with JPD. The patient was treated with cyclic doses of pamidronate starting at 2.5 years of age and with 2 doses of denosumab at the age of 8 years, when pamidronate was paused. In the following years, a sustainable decline in a height <i>z</i>-score and a stunted pubertal growth spurt; despite appropriate maturation of the epiphyseal plates of the left hand, the proximal right humerus and both femora were observed. Whether this reflects the growth pattern in JPD or might be associated to the antiresorptive treatments is unclear, since there is very limited information available on the effect of bisphosphonates and denosumab on growth and the growth plate in pediatric patients. Studies are needed to understand the natural history of an ultra-rare bone disease and to assess the effects of antiresorptive treatment on the growing skeleton.

Abstract In convective flows, vertical turbulent fluxes, covariances between vertical velocity and scalar thermodynamic variables, include contributions from local mixing and large-scale coherent motions, such as updrafts and downdrafts. The relative contribution of these motions to the covariance is important in turbulence parameterizations. However, the flux partition is challenging, especially in regions without convective cloud. A method to decompose the vertical flux based on the corresponding joint probability density function (JPD) is introduced. The JPD-based method partitions the full JPD into a joint Gaussian part and the complement, which represent the local mixing and the large-scale coherent motions, respectively. The coherent part can be further divided into updraft and downdraft parts based on the sign of vertical velocity. The flow decomposition is independent of water condensate (cloud) and can be applied in cloud-free convection, the subcloud layer, and stratiform cloud regions. The method is applied to large-eddy simulation model data of three boundary layers. The results are compared with traditional cloud and cloud-core decompositions and a decaying scalar conditional sampling method. The JPD-based method includes a single free parameter and sensitivity tests show weak dependence on the parameter values. The results of the JPD-based method are somewhat similar to the cloud-core and conditional sampling methods. However, differences in the relative magnitude of the flux decomposition terms suggest that an objective definition of the flow regions is subtle and diagnosed flow properties like updraft characteristics depend on the sampling method. Moreover, the flux decomposition depends on the thermodynamic variable and convection characteristics.

Hypertensive small vessel disease is a major cause of vascular cognitive impairment (VCI). Spontaneously hypertensive/stroke prone rats (SHR/SP) with unilateral carotid artery occlusion (UCAO) and a Japanese permissive diet (JPD) have white-matter (WM) damage similar to that seen in VCI. We hypothesized that WM injury was due to hypoxia-mediated, blood–brain barrier (BBB) disruption. Twelve-week-old SHR/SP had UCAO/JPD and were studied with immunohistochemistry, biochemistry, multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and Morris water maze (MWM) testing. One week after UCAO/JPD, WM showed a significant increase in hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), which increased further by 3 weeks. Prolyl hydroxylase-2 (PHD2) expression decreased at 1 and 3 weeks. Infiltrating T cells and neutrophils appeared around endothelial cells from 1 to 3 weeks after UCAO/JPD, and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) colocalized with inflammatory cells. At 3 weeks, WM immunostained for IgG, indicating BBB leakage. Minocycline (50 mg/kg intraperitoeally) was given every other day from weeks 12 to 20. Multimodal MRI showed that treatment with minocycline significantly reduced lesion size and improved cerebral blood flow. Minocycline improved performance in the MWM and prolonged survival. We propose that BBB disruption occurred secondary to hypoxia, which induced an MMP-9-mediated infiltration of leukocytes. Minocycline significantly reduced WM damage, improved behavior, and prolonged life.

Abstract Introduction: Juvenile Paget’s disease (JPD), an ultra-rare, debilitating bone disease due to loss of functional osteoprotegerin (OPG), is caused by recessive mutations in TNFRFSF11B. A genotype–phenotype correlation spanning from mild to very severe forms is described. Aim: This study aimed to describe the complexity of the human phenotype of OPG deficiency in more detail and to investigate heterozygous mutation carriers for clinical signs of JPD. Patients: We investigated 3 children with JPD from families of Turkish, German, and Pakistani descent and 19 family members (14 heterozygous). Results: A new disease-causing 4 bp-duplication in exon 1 was detected in the German patient, and a microdeletion including TNFRFSF11B in the Pakistani patient. Skeletal abnormalities in all affected children included bowing deformities and fractures, contractures, short stature and skull involvement. Complex malformation of the inner ear and vestibular structures (2 patients) resulted in early deafness. Patients were found to be growth hormone deficient (2), displayed nephrocalcinosis (1), and gross motor (3) and mental (1) retardation. Heterozygous family members displayed low OPG levels (12), elevated bone turnover markers (7), and osteopenia (6). Short stature (1), visual impairment (2), and hearing impairment (1) were also present. Conclusion: Diminished OPG levels cause complex changes affecting multiple organ systems, including pituitary function, in children with JPD and may cause osteopenia in heterozygous family members. Diagnostic and therapeutic measures should aim to address the complex phenotype.

The informationization of mold making enterprises have always been the industrial focus, however, few of information integration solutions can solve the problems efficiently. Promoted by demands of industrial developments and the newest information technology, enterprises integration shifted rapidly from information integration to process integration for the preeminent performance exhibiting in the real production process. The paper conducts many studies on the typical four business processes of mold industry, then proposes the process integration architecture of mold making enterprises based on BPM. Meanwhile, the paper comes up with a modeling method based on BPMN, which can demonstrate the process integration visually and efficiently, the architecture also combines BPEL with JPDL to fulfill the integration operation, BPEL mainly taking charge of automatic integration and JPDL with responsibility for human-involved integration of processes. Furthermore, monitoring solution based on BAM is brought forward, it is able to provide exact real-time monitoring and information feedback of processes with the help of Rules Engine. The architecture can greatly enhance the information sharing and automation of business processes, finally bring more benefits to the mold industry.

Thuật toán đề xuất dựa trên kết quả xử lý và khai phá các đặc trưng đa điểm chói của mục tiêu dựa trên ảnh ra đa có độ phân giải cao. Thuật toán bao gồm 02 phần: tiền xử lý các ảnh ra đa có độ phân giải cao để khai phá các đặc trưng của mục tiêu (toạ độ, hướng trục thân tàu) và lọc bám quỹ đạo mục tiêu dựa trên các tham số đã được khai phá. Đánh giá hiệu quả của thuật toán thông qua mô phỏng lọc bám quỹ đạo hai mục tiêu di chuyển gần nhau bằng phần mềm Matlab. Kết quả mô phỏng được so sánh với thuật toán thông dụng như GNN và JPDA. Nghiên cứu cho thấy, thuật toán đề xuất kết hợp được ưu điểm và khắc phục được những hạn chế của thuật toán GNN và JPDA.

Abstract Different formulations of the joint probability distribution function (JPDF) based on large-eddy simulation (LES) studies of shallow cumulus and cumulus congestus clouds were evaluated. It was shown that inhomogeneity in both cloud types can be quantified by their respective JPDFs calculated using datasets from the entire simulation time period (“generic” JPDFs). The generic JPDF can be a priori integrated and yield a one-dimensional variability factor (V factor) specific for each cloud type. A quite accurate approximation of V factors by an analytical function in the form of a third-order polynomial was obtained and can be easily implemented in mesoscale models. The effect on precipitation of conversion rates modified by V factors was also evaluated in LES sensitivity studies of shallow cumulus (Cu) and congestus Cu clouds. The surface precipitation increased significantly when V factors were taken into account. The sensitivity experiments revealed that most of the increase resulted from the modified autoconversion process. The effect of accretion rates modified by V factors was much less significant, primarily because of the nearly linear dependence of accretion on its parameters. This fact shows the importance of the most accurate formulation of the autoconversion process.

The purpose of the study is to compute the Journal Packing Density (JPD) i.e. the average research articles published in each volume or each issue of a research journal. Library and Information Science (LIS) journals published across Asia and indexed in Scopus during the period 2015 to 2019 were taken as samples. The study is based on secondary data retrieved from SCImago Journal and Country Ranking (SJCR), which includes the journals and country scientific indicators developed from the information contained in the Scopus database. In all, 14 LIS journals were identified from Asia. It was found that there are 51 sovereign nations in Asia, and 43 (84.31%) countries are actively undertaking research in LIS and only 8 (18.60%) countries are publishing LIS journals. India and Taiwan are the two leading countries in the region publishing 3 journals each. In all, 1558 articles were published by 14 LIS journals across Asia from 2015 through 2019 in 58 volumes with a JPD of 26.86 articles per journal per volume. Apart from these, research deficit in terms of journals and research articles has also been computed alongside a brief overview on how JPD of a journal can help in identifying the possibility of its predatory nature.
