Streszczenie:
Customer experience management research is increasingly concerned with the long-term evolution of customer experience journeys across multiple service cycles. A dominant smooth journey model makes customers’ lives easier, with a cyclical pattern of predictable experiences that builds customer loyalty over time, also known as a loyalty loop. An alternate sticky journey model makes customers’ lives exciting, with a cyclical pattern of unpredictable experiences that increases customer involvement over time, conceptualized here as an involvement spiral. Whereas the smooth journey model is ideal for instrumental services that facilitate jobs to be done, the sticky journey model is ideal for recreational services that facilitate never-ending adventures. To match the flow of each journey type, firms are advised to encourage purchases during the initial service cycles of smooth journeys, or subsequent service cycles of sticky journeys. In multiservice systems, firms can sustain customer journeys by interlinking loyalty loops and involvement spirals. The article concludes with new journey-centered questions for customer experience management research, as well as branding research, consumer culture theory, consumer psychology, and transformative service research.

Abstract This ethnographic study contributes to the scholarly call to increase studies on refugee journeys. It explores Tibetan journeys via Nepal to India and provides a novel case study about the Tibetan refugees who commonly cross the Himalayas at least partly on foot without passports and head to the Tibetan Reception Centre in Kathmandu, Nepal, from where they are assisted to India. Conceptually, the study argues that combining the studies of refugee journeys and transit migration increases understanding of the (Tibetan) refugee journeys. The findings reveal that the risky journey has a remarkable meaning both for those Tibetans who have done the journey and collectively for the diaspora Tibetans in India. As Tibetans, like refugees in general are still often victimised and their subjectivities overlooked, the study also contributes to a fuller understanding of the Tibetan refugee agency through the journey narratives of the interviewees of this study.

Purpose Customer journeys have become an increasingly important topic in service management and design. The purpose of this paper is to review customer journey terminology and approaches within the research literature prior to 2013, mainly from the fields of design, management, and marketing. Design/methodology/approach The study was conducted as a systematic literature review. Searches in Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Knowledge, ACM Digital Library, and ScienceDirect identified 45 papers for the analysis. The papers were analyzed with respect to customer journey terminology and approaches, the relation to customer experience, the referenced background, and the use of visualizations. Findings Across the reviewed literature, customer journeys are described not only as a means to take the viewpoint of the customer, but also to reach insight into their experiences. A rich and at times incoherent customer journey terminology is analyzed and discussed, as are two emerging customer journey approaches: customer journey mapping (analysis of a service process “as is”) and customer journey proposition (generative activities leading toward a possible service “to be”). Research limitations/implications The review is limited to analyzing and making claims on research papers that explicitly apply the term customer journey. In most of the reviewed papers, customer journeys are not the main object of interest but are discussed as one of several topics. Practical implications A nuanced discussion of customer journey terminology and approaches is provided, supporting the practical application of a customer journey perspective. Originality/value The review contributes a needed common basis for future customer journey research and practice.

AbstractWith a view to comparing previous findings from experimental journeys, with observations during commercial transport of sheep, hormonal and other physiological data were gathered during three long journeys (866 to 1178 km), all of which involved a sea crossing (1 h 45 min to 8 h 55 min). One was a commercial journey from the United Kingdom to continental Europe and the other two, which were simulated commercial journeys under the control of the investigators, were from a Scottish island to Cambridge. In all journeys there was a break in lairage (duration 13 to 24 h). The stocking rate on the commercial journey (0·17 m2 per sheep for shorn sheep of 35 to 37 kg body weight) was less generous than previously used in experimental journeys. In all journeys there was an apparent increase in plasma concentration of cortisol soon after loading and commencement of travel, with subsequent decline. Transient increases in beta-endorphin and prolactin were also observed but changes in creatine kinase were not obvious. Haematocrit showed slight evidence o f a decline during the journeys. These findings are generally similar to those obtained in experimental journeys and there was no evidence of a hormonal response to sea conditions during the ferry crossings. When transport was resumed after a period of rest with food and water off the vehicle, the physiological responses were less marked than they had been during the first stage of the journey. Under the circumstances observed, long journeys of the type commonly practised commercially probably do not of themselves pose a major welfare challenge.

When customers journey from a need to a purchase decision and beyond, they rarely do so alone. This article introduces the social customer journey, which extends prior perspectives on the path to purchase by explicitly integrating the important role that social others play throughout the journey. The authors highlight the importance of “traveling companions,” who interact with the decision maker through one or more phases of the journey, and they argue that the social distance between the companion(s) and the decision maker is an important factor in how social influence affects that journey. They also consider customer journeys made by decision-making units consisting of multiple individuals and increasingly including artificial intelligence agents that can serve as surrogates for social others. The social customer journey concept integrates prior findings on social influences and customer journeys and highlights opportunities for new research within and across the various stages. Finally, the authors discuss several actionable marketing implications relevant to organizations’ engagement in the social customer journey, including managing influencers, shaping social interactions, and deploying technologies.

The literature of travel, or travel literature, has roots that extend back to ancient times. In fact, one could argue that travel and exploration are fundamental to the human experience, starting with the first journey undertaken by humanity—the journey from non-existence to existence. From there, the human journey began, and with the journey of our father Adam (AS) from heaven to earth, the human journey started from the very beginning of human existence. Over time, humans started documenting their memories and experiences during their journeys. As new worlds were unveiled, a new perspective emerged in writing about those travels. These journeys revealed diverse lands, peoples, and nations, shedding light on their daily lives, history, traditions, culture, language, clothing, and cuisine. Travel literature serves as a window into the world, offering readers a glimpse into the experiences and perspectives of travelers. It allows us to explore different landscapes, encounter foreign cultures, and gain a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of our global community. Through travel literature, we can embark on journeys vicariously, expanding our horizons and fostering empathy and appreciation for the richness and diversity of human existence. Streszczenie:
To date, especially in Europe, few studies have analysed the implications of long journeys on pig welfare and economic losses, expressed in terms of transport mortality. This study retrospectively analysed data collected from slaughtering registers and travel journals in a large Italian abattoir. We focused on pig transports coming from abroad and arriving at the slaughter plant after long journeys (a total of 59,982 pigs over 370 journeys). We explored the relationship between mortality and the following variables: country of origin, journey duration, astronomical season, stocking density on the truck, number of stops, and prolonged stops during the journey (lasting more than 60 min, likely due to traffic jams or truck problems). Overall, the low mortality rate observed (0.09%) was in line with European estimates. The factors with a significant or tendential effect on mortality during transport were the astronomical season (p = 0.0472, with higher mortality in spring) and the presence of prolonged stops during the journey (p = 0.069, tendential effect). Journey duration, stocking density, country of origin, and the number of stops were not statistically significant. In conclusion, based on this case study, using transport mortality combined with data collected during the common routine activity by the Public Veterinary Services in slaughterhouses could be a simple screening method for identifying problematic journeys or transport conditions.

AbstractA substantial amount of analysis has been dedicated to understanding the individual journeys of the “patient” and the “caregiver” in Alzheimer’s disease. This work has provided valuable insights, but a few priorities remain:how is the lived experience journey in Alzheimer’s shaped by the complexities of agitation and other behavioral aspects of the disease;how can insights from “social listening” analysis structure our understanding of these journeys;how can we understand the dyad journey of the person with Alzheimer’s and the care partner as well as the interactions therein, particularly through the lens of agitation. This project, “Mapping the Lived Experiences” recasts the Alzheimer’s journey to better reflect these priorities. We offer a visual interpretation of the journey with the rationale and proof points that underpin it.“Mapping the Lived Experiences” prioritizes agitation and other behavioral aspects of Alzheimer’s as pivotal, enduring challenges on the disease journey. We frame the journey into two overarching phases: “the first loss,” which accounts for the more widely recognized symptoms of the disease, such as memory loss and declining cognitive function; and “the second loss,” which is characterized by agitation and behavioral aspects of the disease. We structure the journey around “milestone moments” – moments when both the person with Alzheimer’s and the care partner recognize that the disease has taken a major progression. The “milestones” moment framework reflects an interpretive framework developed through an ongoing “social listening” research project. This social listening research allows analysis of the online conversation as it is happening in social channels and discussion boards, and it provides a poignant counterpoint to quantitative market research insofar as it illuminates the unfiltered, unmitigated experiences as articulated by the people who are learning in real-time to manage and live with Alzheimer’s. From social listening insights and analysis, our research posits that journeys – for both the person with Alzheimer’s and the care partner – are not linear, straight-line trajectories, but jagged, fragmented paths marked by “milestone moments” that shape thinking, understanding, and behavior.“Mapping the Lived Experiences” offers a dyad visualization and articulations, as it fuses the journeys of the person with lived experience and the care partner together in the same visual space. This approach reveals how, over time, these journey relate, inform, and ultimately depart from one another. This dyad offers new insights into both the lived experience and care partner journeys.

"PATIENTS’ JOURNEY THROUGH INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASE (IBD): A QUALITATIVE STUDY". Inflammatory Bowel Diseases 27, Supplement_1 (1.01.2021): S53—S54. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/ibd/izaa347.127.

Abstract Background Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a debilitating intestinal condition, manifesting as Crohn’s disease (CD), ulcerative colitis (UC) or indeterminate colitis (IC). The patient experience is impacted by a lack of awareness from other stakeholders despite growing global disease prevalence. To gain deeper insight of the patient experience, promote quality care, and enhance quality of life, we performed a qualitative study of the patient journey starting from pre-diagnosis through treatment. Methods U.S. patients with IBD were recruited via UC/CD support groups and organizations, social media platforms, blog followers, and personal networks. Participants were screened via an emailed survey and asked to self-identify as medically diagnosed on the basis of reported diagnostic testing. Interviews were conducted by qualitative researchers by phone or web conferencing. Open-ended questions were developed to support and gather information about our learning objectives—primarily, our desire to understand the unique experiences of UC/CD patients in their journey from symptom onset through diagnosis, treatment and maintenance (e.g. “Upon diagnosis, what were your immediate thoughts about the condition?”). This qualitative data were analyzed using Human-Centered Design methodology, including patient typologies (personas), forced temporal zoom (journey maps), forced semantic zoom (stakeholder system mapping), and affinity mapping for pattern recognition of unmet needs. Results A total of 32 patients were interviewed: N=17 CD patients, N=13 UC patients and N=2 IC patients. The interviewed population reflected regional, demographic, and disease-related diversity (Table 1). Five unique, mutually exclusive journeys were identified to understand and classify patient experiences: (1) Journey of Independence, (2) Journey of Acceptance, (3) Journey of Recognition, (4) Journey of Passion and (5) Journey of Determination (Figure 1). Patients with IBD expressed a need for increased awareness, education, and training for providers to shorten the path to diagnosis. Mental health support was found to be a critical gap in care, particularly for major treatment decisions (e.g., surgery). The inclusion of emotional support into the treatment paradigm was perceived as essential to long-term wellness. Patient attitudes and self-advocacy varied on their individual journeys; understanding these journeys may accelerate time to diagnosis and treatment. Conclusion Better understanding of patient journeys can help healthcare providers improve their approach to patient care and coordination.

“A Malaysian Journey” is written by Rehman Rashid, a Malaysian Bumiputra, born in Taiping (p 25), whose father is of Arab –Indian parentage while his mother is from a Tamil –Eurasian parentage (p39-41). The text describes two journeys, the first being a physical journey that Rehman Rashid, the writer himself undertakes upon his return home to Malaysia, while the second journey is an emotionally critical, highly personal, expressive and hopeful journey on Malaysia’s pre and post independence history and its impact on the him as an individual and on the multiethnic Malaysian society. Both journeys, however, attempt to introduce readers to the social matrices, politics, religion (practiced by the majority) and culture of Malaysians. The goals are here to challenge reader’s existing socio-political perceptions on pre and post independent Malaysia and to shape writer’s own discernment and consciousness on his social cultural background.

???Journey??? as a term in the dictionary, indicates a distance covered in travelling, usually by land, from one place to another. In my paper, ???journey??? becomes equal to life experience, consisting of time, space or place, and thoughts. I see my life as a linear journey, made up of many points, in different time and space, facing diverse scenes, causing various emotions, and creating distinct relationships with the world. My project deals with time, space and thoughts in my life???s journey. I have turned to the space of everyday life in order to explore its shifting physical, social and psychological dimensions. This is where I would locate my work in relation to Contemporary Art, where the relationship between the inner and outer world, between private and public, between art and everyday, are also the key issues. These are my truly personal experience of my stay in Australia, where I have been provided an opportunity to experience the differences in various ways. Since all experiences take place in time and space, the two categories provide a comprehensive framework, in which my thoughts have a place to occur and develop. In my real life experience, what I have been through is not only to confront the conflicts and the uneasiness, but also to understand the differences, and then to accept and get used to these until I have harmony in my heart.

Senchimentaru na tabi fuyu no tabi or Sentimental Journey/Winter Journey, a photobook created and published by photographer Araki Nobuyoshi in 1991, documented two highly personal events of the photographer's life. The first section consists of twenty-two images of Araki's 1971 honeymoon with his wife Yōko Aoki, while the second section features ninety-one images and an essay documenting the last six months of Yōko's life in 1989-90. This thesis measures SJ/WJ against a Japanese literary tradition invoked by Araki in his opening manifesto: the shishōsetsu. A genre of writing from the early 1900's that read like a confessional or personal diary, the shishōsetsu was regarded as a `true' story insofar as it revealed a totally transparent `author' within a totally transparent `text.' Given these criteria, this thesis determines the success of Araki's SJ/WJ as a true-to-life autobiography.

Streszczenie:
This research is concerned with finding out about the nature of the relationship between the change manager and the change project. An action learning approach to the investigation and analysis was adopted throughout in order to achieve a 'practitioner's perspective' in a range of inter-related learning environments. The research tracks the progress of six change managers. To attempt to minimise the variables, six smaller organisations (i.e. those employing fewer than 250 employees) from the manufacturing and production sector were recruited; all were based within a 20 mile radius; and all were attempting to change to meet the key indicators of a national performance standard from a similar starting point. Please see Table 1 below for further details. From the work with the change managers and the action learning set, all of whom acted as co-researchers during the analysis phase, some conclusions were drawn. The most significant being that the relationship between the change manager and the change project could be described as being essentially symbiotic in its nature, insofar as the change project impacted directly and indirectly upon the change manager, and the change manager's direct and indirect actions influenced the degree of success of the change project. From the conclusions drawn, and as might be considered to befit an action learning approach to research, a practical solution was proposed for achieving more successful organisational change outcomes - a framework to enable the change manager to develop, within the context of the demands of the change project. The framework was not intended to be a constant, but rather a guide for action. Some conclusions were also drawn about the form of the development which might be required by those advising on change, as a consequence of the findings.

Streszczenie:
This thesis investigates how four contemporary Australian novels, Peter Carey’s Oscar and Lucinda, Joan London’s Gilgamesh, Alex Miller’s Journey to the Stone Country and Alexis Wright’s The Swan Book, through adopting innovatively the journey motif and structure, deal with the impact of Australia’s colonial past on the country’s race and gender relationships. These journey stories variously represent Australian colonial history, explore the subjects of white guilt and settler unbelonging, and envisage an apocalyptic future for Australia. For my examination of the novels, I draw on elements of settler colonial and feminist theories, while also referring to Joseph Campbell’s and Evans Lansing Smith’s scholarship on the hero journey for the close reading of race and gender embodied in the novels. I argue that the selected novels, by means of three journeys or three phases of a journey, expose and challenge oppressive dualistic ideologies, such as white and black, male and female, the imperial centre and the empire periphery, human and Nature, and even life and death. In charting the journeys represented in the novels, I argue that i) Oscar and Lucinda, by re-enacting the scenes of early settlers’ migration to Australia and settler explorers’ expeditions into the inland of the continent, reimagines the originating moment of the colony and reveals the racist and patriarchal nature of it; ii) while Gilgamesh feminises an ancient Sumerian hero journey by having a young female embark on an epic journey, it implies the unlikelihood of white settlers’ sense of belonging in Australia; iii) the circuitous journey of the settler heroine and Aboriginal hero in Journey to the Stone Country exposes the darkness of Australia’s frontier history and reflects the uncertainty involved in Australia’s Aboriginal reconciliation movement; and iv) by likening the Aboriginal heroine’s abduction and return journey to the Aboriginal cultural practice of walkabout, in which Aboriginal Australians trek along creator ancestors’ path of creation, The Swan Book asserts Aboriginal people’s ontological sovereignty while it challenges settlers’ derivative sovereignty. The thesis contends that journeys depicted by each of the four novels evoke descent of the hero or heroine into the underworld, reminding us that until the settler authorities in Australia relinquish their colonisation of Aboriginal Australia and accommodate Aboriginal sovereignty, the country will always be beset by fraught race and gender relationships.

Streszczenie:
AbstractCustomer journey analysis is important for organizations to get to know as much as possible about the main behavior of their customers. This provides the basis to improve the customer experience within their organization. This paper addresses the problem of predicting the occurrence of a certain activity of interest in the remainder of the customer journey that follows the occurrence of another specific activity. For this, we propose the HIAP framework which uses process mining techniques to analyze customer journeys. Different prediction models are researched to investigate which model is most suitable for high importance activity prediction. Furthermore the effect of using a sliding window or landmark model for (re)training a model is investigated. The framework is evaluated using a health insurance real dataset and a benchmark data set. The efficiency and prediction quality results highlight the usefulness of the framework under various realistic online business settings.

Streszczenie:
Customer journey analysis is rapidly increasing in popularity, as it is essential for companies to understand how their customers think and behave. Recent studies investigate how customers traverse their journeys and how they can be improved for the future. However, those researches only focus on improving the process for future customers by analyzing the historical data. This research focuses on helping the current customer immediately, by analyzing if it is possible to predict what the customer will do next and accordingly take proactive steps. We propose a model to predict the customer's next contact type (touch point). At first we will analyze the customer journey data by applying process mining techniques. We will use these insights then together with the historical data of accumulated customer journeys to train several classifiers. The winning of those classifiers, namely XGBoost, is used to perform a prediction on a customer's journey while the journey is still active. We show on three different real datasets coming from interactions between a telecommunication company and its customers that we always beat a baseline classifier thanks to our thorough pre-processing of the data.

Abstract – Unreliable functioning of public passenger transpport (PPT) system has direct influence on different aspects of passenger’s journey. Often disturbances in vehicle headway influence users in such manner that they plan their journeys accordingly (leave earlier, choose different line, transfer to another line, changes in mode of travel). This paper will analyse the influence of PPT system’s reliability on decisions and behaviour of PPT system’s users. Keywords – Public passenger transport, reliability, user’s behaviour, vehicle headway

Streszczenie:
Abstract This study aims to contribute to industry discussion on gas utilization opportunities available to Ghana. Specifically, it will analyze Ghana's existing natural gas plans. i.e., the Gas Master Plan analyze possible opportunities and associated challenges and finally propose sources of finance for gas sector projects. In order to discover opportunities of natural gas utilization as well as challenges that come in the course of implementation, data was sourced from secondary sources as well. Benchmarking was also done using the natural gas journeys of three (3) case study countries: Nigeria, China, and the United Kingdom and a comparative analysis compared their natural gas journeys in terms of policy direction, natural gas utilization, infrastructure development and challenges encountered vis a vis the natural gas journey of Ghana. The analysis showed that various opportunities existed for natural gas utilization in the areas of industrial power generation, LNG export, CNG, Fertilizer and bauxite production. Various challenges such as lack of human and technical capacity, sector debt, regulatory issues, pricing issues, security of supply and others plagued most natural gas economies. These findings suggest that an ‘armory’ of opportunities exist for natural gas utilization in Ghana. However, the implementation of these utilization options is contingent on the development of proper policy instruments and extensive investment in infrastructure. The country should also be conscious of bottlenecks that may hinder natural gas utilization efforts.

My Travel Notes of Western Regions Journey describe in detail four journeys of famous Japanese novelist Inoue Yasushi to East Turkestan in 1977–1980. The writer, who is passionate about history of China and its Western regions, visited north-western China as part of a group of Japanese cultural figures against the backdrop of improving Japanese-Chinese relations. The travelogue develops millennial diary tradition of Japanese literature and, according to improved model of describing China in travelogues that developed after Meiji Restoration, demonstrates true state of affairs in changed China, but the close attention is paid to China’s ancient past. The paper examines both application of this principle and complex of representations and images that constitutes an intellectual picture and spatial-temporal unity of region, which were built from the point of view of highly educated Japanese intellectual.

Streszczenie:
As part of CLARISSA’s qualitative, thematic research agenda, Geographic Information System (GIS) journey mapping and ethnographic observation was conducted to gain insights into the daily lives, experiences, journeys, and feelings of children involved in the Adult Entertainment Sector (AES). Twenty children documented their daily activities using a mobile app, with support and accompaniment from CLARISSA researchers. Subsequently, a collaborative analysis was conducted with participants and the CLARISSA research team, culminating in the formation of a number of GIS-based Action Research Groups to work on predominant issues or themes. This process generated evidence that is often deeply veiled and difficult to uncover. The formation of this ARG was prompted by recurring issues around children’s journeys to work that emerged through the research. The group was focused on the theme, ‘The journey to work and back’.
