Streszczenie:
Abstract. Assessing jobs-housing balance (JHB) is crucial for the optimization of urban spatial pattern and transportation planning. However, due to the limitations of traditional data and the inability to integrate evaluation indicators, the evaluation results may be bias, conflicting with common sense. Considering interaction of multiple factors, a Job-housing balance measurement model (JHBM-SEM) was proposed to accurately evaluate the degree of JHB in a certain area. To address the problem of multi-indicator fusion, the structural equation model is used to incorporate the advantages, limitations and complementary relationships of each evaluation indicator into the evaluation process. A function relationship is defined between factor loadings, path coefficients, and variable scores to construct the measurement model and obtain comprehensive evaluation results. In addition, by integrating multi-source spatiotemporal big data mainly based on mobile signaling data, the paper can effectively mine the current status of job-housing balance in cities, and solve problems such as low precision and granularity of traditional data. The model was validated using Shanghai as an example, and the results show that compared with classical methods, the model's results are more consistent with the real situation of regional jobhousing patterns. It can identify the pseudo-balance phenomenon in underdeveloped areas of the suburbs and make reasonable evaluations, and the intermediate process can explain the direction of the imbalance factors in the region.

This present study aimed to investigate the effects of various cooking times (1 h, 1.5 h, 2 h, 2.5 h, named as JHBP-1, JHBP-1.5, JHBP-2, JHBP-2.5) on the antioxidant activity and peptide profile of Jinhua ham broth peptides (JHBP). The peptides extracted from uncooked ham were used as an uncooked group with the name of JHBP-0. The results revealed that the antioxidant efficacy in the four cooked groups changed dramatically compared to JHBP-0. After cooking, the DPPH radical scavenging activity, hydroxyl radical scavenging activity and superoxide anion radical scavenging activity decreased, except for the Fe2+ chelation and ABTS+ scavenging capacity which increased significantly. However, the cooked groups still showed a strong antioxidant capacity. In particular, the superoxide anion radical scavenging ability and the Fe2+ chelation action were significantly stronger compared to glutathione (GSH) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) (p < 0.05). JHBP-1.5 also displayed stronger antioxidant capacity than the other three cooked groups, and its secondary structure and mass distribution changed significantly after cooking, specifically with an increased proportion of helix and <1 kDa peptides. Moreover, the constitution of free amino acids (FAAs) and the types of peptides released in the broth increased significantly with a longer cooking time. In total, 1306 (JHBP-0), 1352 (JHBP-1), 1431 (JHBP-1.5), 1500 (JHBP-2), and 1556 (JHBP-2.5) peptide sequences were detected using LC-MC/MC. The proportion of <1 kDa peptides also gradually increased as the cooking time extended, which is consistent with the molecular weight distribution measurements.

Juvenile hormones prevent molting and metamorphosis in the juvenile stages of insects. There are multiple genes encoding a conserved juvenile hormone binding protein (JHBP) domain in a single insect species. Although some JHBPs have been reported to serve as carriers to release hormones to target tissues, the molecular functions of the other members of the diverse JHBP family of proteins remain unclear. We characterized 16 JHBP genes with conserved JHBP domains in Drosophila melanogaster. Among them, seven JHBP genes were induced by feeding the flies with methyl lucidone, a plant diterpene secondary metabolite (PDSM). Induction was also observed upon feeding the juvenile hormone (JH) analog methoprene. Considering that methyl lucidone and methoprene perform opposite functions in JH-mediated regulation, specifically the heterodimeric binding between a JH receptor (JHR) and steroid receptor coactivator (SRC), the induction of these seven JHBP genes is independent of JH-mediated regulation by the JHR/SRC heterodimer. Tissue-specific gene expression profiling through the FlyAtlas 2 database indicated that some JHBP genes are mainly enriched in insect guts and rectal pads, indicating their possible role during food uptake. Hence, we propose that JHBPs are induced by PDSMs and respond to toxic plant molecules ingested during feeding.

The present study examined if high levels of religious attendance (ORG), private religious activity (NOR), or intrinsic religiosity (SUB) buffer cardiovascular responses to active speech and anger recall lab stressors alone and by John Henryism Active Coping (JHAC) and educational attainment. A sample of 74 healthy African American males, aged 23 to 47 years, completed psychosocial surveys and a lab reactivity protocol involving active speech and anger recall with a 5-minute baseline and ensuing recovery periods. Measures of religiosity, JHAC, and education were related to continuous measures of systolic and diastolic blood pressure (BP), for each task and rest period with repeated measures ANOVA tests. The period by education by JHAC interaction effect was significant for diastolic BP responses at low but not higher NOR. At low education and low NOR, diastolic BP levels increased significantly during anger recall and ensuing recovery for high but not low JHAC persons. Thus, being deprived of education and private religious activity may put these African American men in a vulnerable situation where higher effort coping may exacerbate their cardiovascular reactivity and recovery to anger induction.

The local pig breeds in Guizhou possess exceptional meat quality, robust adaptability, and resilience to harsh feeding conditions, making them ideal for producing high-quality pork. With over 10 local pig breeds in the region, we focused on 7 specific breeds: Baixi pigs (BX), Congjiang Xiang pigs (CJX), Guanling pigs (GL), Jianhe White Xiang pigs (JHBX), Jiangkou Luobo pigs (JKLB), Kele pigs (KL), and Qiandong Hua pigs (QDH). Unfortunately, these breeds face threats such as introduced species and inbreeding, resulting in a decline in population size and numbers. To better protect and utilize these breeds, we employed genome-wide single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers to investigate the population structure, genetic diversity, and selection characteristics of 283 pigs across these seven breeds. Our findings revealed distinct ancestral sources between Chinese and Western pig breeds, as demonstrated by principal component analysis, adjacent tree analysis, and ADMIXTURE analysis. Notably, JHBX exhibited a distant genetic relationship from the other six local pig breeds in Guizhou province, showcasing unique genetic characteristics. While the genetic diversity of the six Chinese native pig populations, excluding JHBX, was generally moderate in Guizhou province, the JHBX population displayed low genetic diversity. Therefore, it is imperative to intensify selection efforts to prevent inbreeding decline in JHBX while further enhancing the protection measures for the other six pig populations. Additionally, we identified candidate genes influencing the size disparity among pigs in Guizhou province through signal selection. Our study outcomes serve as a reference for developing effective conservation and utilization plans for pig breeds in Guizhou province and deepen our understanding of the genetic mechanisms underlying pig body size.

Streszczenie:
Background: We aimed to validate the Japanese histological grading classification (JHGC) in our population of IgA immunoglobulin (IgAN) cases. Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study at Taichung Veterans General Hospital in Taiwan from January 2011 to December 2023. The process involved assessing JHGC’s clinical, histological, and merged grading system. Composite renal outcomes based on glomerular filtrate rate (eGFR) were considered. Results: The study included 359 IgAN by renal biopsies. Kidney function at the time of biopsy was suboptimal, with average SCr of 1.3 mg/dL, eGFR of 54.0 mL/min/1.732 m2, and urine protein–creatinine ratio (UPCR) of 1.2 mg/mg. JHGC effectively identified different severity levels of histological and clinical aspects in Taiwanese IgAN. Initial 4-histological classification showed significantly higher MEST-C scores (p < 0.001). Merging grade III and IV was reasonable in Japanese and Taiwanese populations. The clinical grading system (3C) was associated with histological status and proteinuria, but there was no significant trend with SCr, eGFR, and blood urea nitrogen. Significant differences were found among the three groups (log-rank p < 0.01), but C-grade I and II lacked significant difference in long-term renal outcomes. We separated UPCR < 0.5 mg/mg into two groups: eGFR≥ and <60 mL/min/1.732 m2. The new grading system effectively differentiated risk factors for renal outcomes (log-rank p < 0.01), suggesting the need for separation in Taiwanese IgAN. Conclusions: Our study externally validated JHGC in non-Japanese IgAN. Despite applicability to our population, we recommend a new classification specifically for Taiwanese IgAN patients with increased case numbers in eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min/1.732 m2 and UPCR < 0.5 g/day group.

Streszczenie:
The efficient production of silkworm silk is crucial to the silk industry. Silk protein synthesis is regulated by the juvenile hormone (JH) and 20-Hydroxyecdysone (20E). Therefore, the genetic regulation of silk production is a priority. JH binding protein (JHBP) transports JH from the hemolymph to target organs and cells and protects it. In a previous study, we identified 41 genes containing a JHBP domain in the Bombyx mori genome. Only one JHBP gene, BmJHBPd2, is highly expressed in the posterior silk gland (PSG), and its function remains unknown. In the present study, we investigated the expression levels of BmJHBPd2 and the major silk protein genes in the high-silk-producing practical strain 872 (S872) and the low-silk-producing local strain Dazao. We found that BmJHBPd2 was more highly expressed in S872 than in the Dazao strain, which is consistent with the expression pattern of fibroin genes. A subcellular localization assay indicated that BmJHBPd2 is located in the cytoplasm. In vitro hormone induction experiments showed that BmJHBPd2 was upregulated by juvenile hormone analogue (JHA) treatment. BmKr-h1 upregulation was significantly inhibited by the overexpression of BmJHBPd2 (BmJHBPd2OE) at the cell level when induced by JHA. However, overexpression of BmJHBPd2 in the PSG by transgenic methods led to the inhibition of silk fibroin gene expression, resulting in a reduction in silk yield. Further investigation showed that in the transgenic BmJHBPd2OE silkworm, the key transcription factor of the JH signaling pathway, Krüppel homolog 1 (Kr-h1), was inhibited, and 20E signaling pathway genes, such as broad complex (Brc), E74A, and ultraspiracle protein (USP), were upregulated. Our results indicate that BmJHBPd2 plays an important role in the JH signaling pathway and is important for silk protein synthesis. Furthermore, our findings help to elucidate the mechanisms by which JH regulates silk protein synthesis.

The South African Breast Cancer and HIV Outcomes prospective cohort (SABCHO) study was established to investigate survival determinants among HIV-positive and HIV-negative SA women with breast cancer. This paper describes common and unique characteristics of the cancer centres and their participants, examining disparities in pathways to diagnosis, treatment resources and approaches adopted to mitigate resource constraints. The Johannesburg (Jhb), Soweto (Sow), and Durban (Dbn) sites treat mainly urban, relatively better educated and more socioeconomically advantaged patients whereas the Pietermaritzburg (Pmb) and Empangeni (Emp) sites treat predominantly rural, less educated and more impoverished communities The Sow, Jhb, and Emp sites had relatively younger patients (mean ages 54 ±14.5, 55±13.7 and 54±14.3 respectively), whereas patients at the Dbn and Pmb sites, with greater representation of Asian Indian women, were relatively older (mean age 57 ±13.9 and 58 ±14.6 respectively). HIV prevalence among the cohort was high, ranging from 15%-42%, (Cohort obesity (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2) at 60%, self-reported hypertension (41%) and diabetes (13%). Direct referral of patients from primary care clinics to cancer centre occurred only at the Sow site which uniquely ran an open clinic and where early stage (I and II) proportions were highest at 48.5%. The other sites relied on indirect patient referral from regional hospitals where significant delays in diagnostics occurred and early-stage proportions were a low (15%- 37.3%). The Emp site referred patients for all treatments to the Dbn site located 200km away; the Sow site provided surgery and endocrine treatment services but referred patients to the Jhb site 30 Km away for chemo- and radiation therapy. The Jhb, Dbn and Pmb sites all provided complete oncology treatment services. All treatment centres followed international guidelines for their treatment approaches. Findings may inform policy interventions to address national and regional disparities in breast cancer care.

The Hercules beetle larvae grow by feeding on humus, and adding a thermophile-fermented compost to the humus can upregulate the growth of female larvae. In this study, the effects of compost on the intestinal environment, including pH, cation concentrations, and organic acid concentrations of intestinal fluids, were investigated, and the RNA profile of the fat body was determined. Although the total intestinal potassium ions were similar between the larvae grown without compost (control larvae) and those with compost (compost larvae), the proportion of potassium ions in the midgut of the compost larvae drastically increased. In the midgut, an unidentified organic acid was the most abundant, and its concentration increased in the compost larvae. Transcriptome analysis showed that a gene encoding hemolymph juvenile-binding protein (JHBP) was expressed in the compost female larvae and not in the control female larvae. Expression of many genes involved in the defensive system was decreased in the compost female larvae. These results suggest that the female-specific enhancement of larval growth by compost was associated with the increased JHBP expression under conditions in which the availability of nutrition from the humus was improved by an increase in potassium ions in the midgut.

Juvenile hypertrophy of the breast (JHB) is a rare and relentless disease affecting women in the peripubertal period. We present a 13-year-old girl with massive bilateral JHB, successfully treated with a breast reduction and free nipple graft technique. A total of 7300 grams of breast tissue had been removed, accounting for 14.9% of the patient’s total body weight. Prophylactic hormonal therapy was not commenced. During the 5-year follow-up period, there was no recurrence and the patient remains satisfied with the aesthetic outcome. A recent meta-analysis study indicates that subcutaneous mastectomy is associated with reduced risk of recurrence, but it is more deforming and the aesthetic result is inferior to a reduction mammaplasty. In patients treated with the latter technique, some evidence exists suggesting that the use of a free nipple graft is associated with a less frequent risk of recurrence than a pedicle technique. This present case is unique as it demonstrates the clinical course of this patient at a considerably longer follow-up period than most reported studies. We adhered to the limited available evidence and highlight the long-term reliability of breast reduction with free nipple grafting as the first line surgical option in JHB, eliminating the need for repeated surgeries.

Abstract The melon/cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover, is a notorious pest in many crops. The neonicotinoid insecticide thiamethoxam is widely used for A. gossypii control. To evaluate thiamethoxam resistance risk, a melon/cotton aphid strain with an extremely high level of resistance to thiamethoxam (>2,325.6-fold) was established after selection with thiamethoxam for 24 generations. Additionally, the cross-resistance pattern to other neonicotinoids and fitness were analyzed. The cross-resistance results showed the thiamethoxam-resistant strain had extremely high levels of cross-resistance against clothianidin (>311.7-fold) and nitenpyram (299.9-fold), high levels of cross-resistance against dinotefuran (142.3-fold) and acetamiprid (76.6-fold), and low cross-resistance against imidacloprid (9.3-fold). Compared with the life table of susceptible strain, the thiamethoxam-resistant strain had a relative fitness of 0.950, with significant decreases in oviposition days and fecundity and prolonged developmental duration. The molecular mechanism for fitness costs was studied by comparing the mRNA expression levels of juvenile hormone acid O-methyltransferase (JHAMT), juvenile hormone-binding protein (JHBP), juvenile hormone epoxide hydrolase (JHEH), ecdysone receptor (EcR), ultraspiracle protein (USP), and Vitellogenin (Vg) in the susceptible and thiamethoxam-resistant strains. Significant overexpression of JHEH and JHBP and downregulation of EcR and Vg expression were found in the thiamethoxam-resistant strain. These results indicate that A. gossypii has the potential to develop extremely high resistance to thiamethoxam after continuous exposure, with a considerable fitness cost and cross-resistance to other neonicotinoids.

Imidacloprid is one of the most widely used neonicotinoid insecticides to control sap-sucking insect pests, including Aphis gossypii. The intensive application of chemical insecticides to A. gossypii led to the development of resistance against several insecticides, including imidacloprid. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the association between imidacloprid resistance and the fitness of A. gossypii to limit the spread of the resistant population under field contexts. In this study, we used the age-stage, two-sex life table method to comprehensively investigate the fitness of imidacloprid resistant (ImR) and susceptible strains (SS) of melon aphids. Results showed that ImR aphids have prolonged developmental stages and decreased longevity, fecundity, and reproductive days. The key demographic parameters (r, λ, and R0) were significantly reduced in ImR strain compared to SS aphids. Additionally, the molecular mechanism for fitness costs was investigated by comparing the expression profile of juvenile hormone-binding protein (JHBP), juvenile hormone epoxide hydrolase (JHEH), juvenile hormone acid O-methyltransferase (JHAMT), Vitellogenin (Vg), ecdysone receptor (EcR), and ultraspiracle protein (USP) supposed to be associated with development and reproduction in insects. The results of RT-qPCR showed that EcR, JHBP, JHAMT, JHEH, and Vg genes were downregulated, while USP was statistically the same in ImR A. gossypii compared to the SS strain. Together, these results provide in-depth information about the occurrence and magnitude of fitness costs against imidacloprid resistance that could help manage the evolution and spread of A. gossypii resistance in field populations

In the present paper, a concrete material is taken as a studying object, both the No. 16 and the JHC constitutive models in LS-DYNA commercial software are used because the parameters of both models are comparatively easy to obtain. The results show that, computational maximum value and the width of the overload curves are good agreement with experimental curves by using these two models in the Lagrange method. With increasing penetrating depth, the ramp and down slopes of the overload curves by computing is increasingly agreement with experimental curves. The JHC model is better to compute overload curves in the Lagrange method. The Lagrange method is also used to compute the penetration of multilayer concrete plate. It is found that, the peak value of acceleration goes down with increasing penetrating layers; this decreasing peak value depends on layer thickness and the strength. Acceleration value between layers will go to zero; this trend is agreement with experiments.

In this paper, notions of L-interval spaces and L-2-arity convex spaces are introduced. It is showed that there is a Galois’s connection between the category of L-convex spaces and the category of L-interval spaces. In particular, the category of L-2-arity convex spaces can be embedded in the category of L-interval spaces as a coreflective subcategory. Further, some properties of L-interval spaces are introduced including L-geometric (resp. L-Peano, L-Pasch and L-sand-glass) property. It is proved that an L-2-arity convex space is an L-JHC convex space iff its segment operator has L-Peano property. It is also proved that an L-JHC convex space with an L-idempotent segment operator has L-sand-glass property. Further, it is also proved that an L-idempotent interval space having L-Peano+L-Pasch property has L-geometric property and L-sand-glass property.

Background Morphological changes in river beds determine the risk for soil erosion within floodplain areas. At present, little is known about river morphological changes in high-altitude mountainous area influenced by extensive human activities. The study has important reference value for clarifying the morphological changes of mountainous rivers due to extensive human activities. Methods Based on the long-term multi-source remote sensing image data, we analyzed morphological changes in the lower Lancang River (LCR) in Southwest China at regional and local scales, and determined their influencing factors. Visual interpretation is used to extract the information and unify the interpretation standards of various localities, mainly including water bodies, sandbars, shorelines and beaches. Based on high-resolution remote sensing images, we analyzed the planforms, erosion and accretion conditions in Jinghongba (JHB) reach and Ganlanba (GLB) reach. Results Our results showed that: (1) during 1993–2016, the planforms of Jinghongba and Ganlanba in the wide valley of the lower LCR changed significantly, (2) In the interval 1993 to 2016, the JHB reach exhibited extensive erosion, with the right bank more eroded seriously than the left bank, and an erosion area of 0.36 km2. The erosion area of the GLB reach was 0.33 km2, with accretion area of 0.61 km2. The right bank was dominated by erosion, while the left bank by sedimentation; (3) Morphological changes in JHB and GLB reches were the result of the combined effects of cascade hydropower development, river regulation, and sand-mining in the river. The results improved the understanding of riverbed evolution, and could help guide sediment management in mountainous areas influenced by extensive human activities.

Objective. To estimate the incidence rate of vertical transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to the neonate during the third trimester. Study Design. We conducted a retrospective observational study of pregnant women diagnosed with COVID-19 during the third trimester, who delivered at Flushing Hospital Medical Centre (FHMC) or Jamaica Hospital Medical Centre (JHMC) between March 20, 2020, and April 30, 2020. The study participants were symptomatic pregnant women diagnosed with COVID-19 via positive SARS-CoV-2 RNA, real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (SARS-CoV-2 rRT-PCR) test. Evidence of vertical transmission was assessed in the neonate via a SARS-CoV-2 rRT-PCR test, with nasopharyngeal swab samples collected on the neonates after 24 hours of birth. The exclusion criteria for this study were maternal or neonate records without SARS-CoV-2 rRT-PCR test results, neonates not delivered at FHMC or JHMC, and foetuses with suspected foetal anomalies or incomplete medical records. Results. We identified 19 symptomatic pregnant women diagnosed with COVID-19, including two women with twin pregnancies. Seven patients (36.8%) were delivered via cesarean. 12 patients (63.1%) presented in spontaneous labour, and 8 (38.1%) had preterm delivery. No maternal intensive care unit admission, maternal sepsis, or maternal mortality was observed. Twenty-one neonates were evaluated for COVID-19 after birth. SARS-CoV-2 rRT-PCR test results were negative in 100% of the neonates. Thirteen neonates (61.9%) were admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit. Prematurity was the most common cause of NICU admission 6 (46.1%), with a length of stay of 5.5 ± 6.4 days. No invasive mechanical ventilation, neonatal sepsis, or neonatal mortality was observed. Conclusion. In our cohort, symptomatic COVID-19 during the third trimester of pregnancy was not associated with vertical transmission to the neonate.

The multi-purpose animal feed chopping machine is one of the feed chopping tools that many farmers use to help speed up the chopping of raw materials that will be used as animal feed. The chopping machine can be operated optimally if the machine is ergonomic so that it is safe and comfortable to operate. This study aims to analyze the ergonomics of a multi-purpose animal feed chopper in terms of anthropometry, operating workload and the level of work fatigue specifically for the chopper. This research uses quantitative methods which are supported by literature studies regarding the design of creating machine dimensions. The parameters in this study are: (1) anthropometric data consisting of Standing Finger Tip Height (TJUB), Standing Vertical Reach (JVB), and Standing Horizontal Reach (JHB); (2) the recommended weight limit that can be lifted by the operator (RWL), and (3) cardiovascular load (CVL). The research results stated that the height of the chopper hopper (100 cm) was classified as ergonomic because it was still between TJUB (66.10 cm) and JVB (183.95 cm). The operator's position from the hopper should not exceed JHB (66.00 cm). The recommended load limit (RWL) is 5.38 kg. Operation of the machine chopper section does not cause work fatigue with an average CVL of 10.71% (≤ 30%). Keywords: Anthropometry, CVL, Pulse Rate, RWL, Work Fatigue.

Streszczenie:
ABSTRACT The hemagglutinin, esterase, and fusion (HEF) glycoprotein of influenza C virus possesses receptor binding, receptor destroying, and membrane fusion activities. The HEF cDNAs from influenza C/Ann Arbor/1/50 (HEF-AA) and influenza C/Taylor/1223/47 (HEF-Tay) viruses were cloned and expressed, and transport of HEF to the cell surface was monitored by susceptibility to cleavage by exogenous trypsin, indirect immunofluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry. Previously it has been found in studies with the C/Johannesburg/1/66 strain of influenza C virus (HEF-JHB) that transport of HEF to the cell surface is severely inhibited, and it is thought that the short cytoplasmic tail, Arg-Thr-Lys, is involved in blocking HEF cell surface expression (F. Oeffner, H.-D. Klenk, and G. Herrler, J. Gen. Virol. 80:363–369, 1999). As the cytoplasmic tail amino acid sequences of HEF-AA and HEF-Tay are identical to that of HEF-JHB, the data indicate that cell surface expression of HEF-AA and HEF-Tay is not inhibited by this amino acid sequence. Furthermore, the abundant cell surface transport of HEF-AA and HEF-Tay indicates that their cell surface expression does not require coexpression of another viral protein. The HEF-AA and HEF-Tay HEF glycoproteins bound human erythrocytes, promoted membrane fusion in a low-pH and trypsin-dependent manner, and displayed esterase activity, indicating that the HEF glycoprotein alone mediates all three known functions at the cell surface.

Streszczenie:
In this work, we have developed a series of amorphous alloy ribbons of Fe75Co4B13Y4Nb4-xNix(x=0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3 and 4) which were prepared by industrial purity alloy. Besides, the effects of Ni substitution and isothermal annealing on the saturation magnetization (Ms) and intrinsic coercive force (jHc) were systematically investigated. The SQUID-VSM data pointed out the Mshas been increased by Ni content addition with largest enhanced by 57 % from 114 emu/g to 180 emu/g. After quickly annealing at the optimal temperature, the Msreached 199 emu/g and jHcdecreased from 50 Oe to 33 Oe. DSC measurements displayed that this system has a multi-step crystallization in the heating process. Under the premise of maintaining the excellent amorphous forming ability (AFA), the gap between the two crystallization peaks was broadened with Ni addition, which is good to the forming of α-Fe phase at the annealing treatment. And this was also consistent with the X-ray diffractometer (XRD) results. The Scherrer formula calculated results suggested that isothermal annealing has significant effect on size of α-Fe nanocrystals in annealing process, which obvious affect the Msand jHc. The annealing temperature and time can not only affect the precipitation of nano-crystalline, but also control the grain size. Hence, an appropriate annealing process is very important to improve the properties of these iron-based nanocrystalline magnetic materials. In conclusion, the results will help us to understand the influence of Ni elements and isothermal annealing on the microstructure and magnetic of Fe75Co4B13Y4Nb4-xNixamorphous alloys.

This paper attempts to quantify the potential risks posed by engineered nanomaterials (ENMs) to the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems from cosmetic-based nanoproducts. The predicted environmental concentrations (PEC) were modelled for the silver (nAg) and titanium dioxide (nTiO2) nanoparticles embedded in cosmetic nanoproducts. The Johannesburg Metropolitan City (JHB City), in South Africa, was used as the reference study area. A mathematical model was applied to compute the quantities of ENMs flows from the cosmetic nanoproducts into the JHB City aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. The risk quotient (RQ) of the nanoscale materials were evaluated as a ratio of PEC to the predicted no effect concentrations (PNEC). RQ values showed wide variance due to factors like; the quantities of ENMs, the fate and pathways of ENMs in the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, efficiency of the wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) as well as the economic and demographic data for South Africa and Switzerland. For the aquatic environment, the PEC values of nAg ranged from 2.80 × 10−3 to 6.19 × 10−1 μg L−1 whereas for nTiO2 the values ranged from 2.7 0 × 10−3 to 2.70 × 10−1 μg L−1 under the realistic dilution factor of 1 with the WWTP functioning at high removal efficiency regime. The RQ values in the aquatic ecosystems were mostly >1, indicating the potential risk of both nAg and nTiO2 but <<<1 in the terrestrial ecosystems. Our results provide the first quantification of ENMs potential risk into the environment Johannesburg City in a developing country’s natural and technical settings.

Streszczenie:
An investigation on the conformations of highly receptor-selective opioid peptides was carried out to gain further understanding of the structure-activity relationship of endogenous enkephalins. The preferred conformations of a highly mu-selective [Val4]morphiceptin and a highly delta-selective delta-kephalin have been probed by 1H n.m.r. solvent-, concentration- and temperature-dependences of amide protons to take the folded conformations stabilized by an intramolecular hydrogen bond and the anti-parallely extended dimeric structures respectively. Their possible stereo-conformations were proposed, based on the analyses of the vicinal coupling constants (JHNC alpha H). The conformational difference between the mu- and delta-selective opioid peptides was further ascertained by the c.d. measurements. The c.d. spectra of the mu-selective peptides show negative bands in the range of 210-230 nm, while those of the delta-selective ones show the opposite positive bands. A correlation between c.d. spectra and receptor-selectivity was possible.

Streszczenie:
This paper describes the vision, framework, challenges, and implementation of the Jerusalem History Knowledge Center (JHKC) initiated by the late Ronnie Ellenblum. The center’s establishment was configured as a joint project of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI), the National Library of Israel (NLI), and the Israel Antiquities Authorities (IAA). Its primary mission and challenge were to establish a long-term digital infrastructure constituting an open-access platform about the history of Jerusalem, which draws on diverse sources, such as archaeological records, historical documents, pilgrims’ accounts, old and new photographs and videos, architectural reconstructions, etc. The first stages included the classification of databases about two sites in Jerusalem: the Citadel—Tower of David and the Damascus Gate. As part of this work, we implemented a unified search in interdisciplinary databases regarding a specific geographical area or a single monument. The center’s products will eventually operate at two levels: at the research level, facilitating work in the fields of history, archeology, art, geography, social sciences, etc., and at the popular level, serving the general public.
