This study is related to the concept of Islamic Literature conceived by Prof Ismail al-Faruqi. In this concept al-Faruqi emphasizes some important questions that need to be understood by Muslims; firstly Muslims need to look at their history, that is, the history of literature and correspondence from the writers of the past. Then he stressed that today's writers if they want to produce quality works must imitate the authentic Qurānic art. Next, al-Faruqi mentioned that the field of literature today is weak because Islamic writers are influenced by the west. The fact is that the west has lost its spiritual value because of its acceptance to secularism. If Islamic writers were to follow the west then we would become weak like them. Al-Faruqi mentions several Islamic figures who were influenced by the west. He then responded to Granebaum's accusation of blaming the teachings of Islam on the backwardness of Muslims in the field of art and literature. For al-Faruqi, the basis in producing literary art in Islam is ‘Tawḥīd’.

This paper argues that literature - story telling in particular - can be an effective way of teaching ethics. Exposing readers to good role models can help impart ethical values. The Qur’an itself uses story-telling to convey many of its ethical principles. Literature can serve as a powerful instrument in the cause of civilisational renewal, not only by promoting a culture of learning and literacy, but also by contributing to the development and strengthening of moral integrity.

History encompasses the journey of human life in shaping the development of the world throughout time. Each history holds meaning and value, allowing humans to create their own history, and history, in turn, shapes humanity. Using history as a living material generates various analyses in the cultural atmosphere of that historical period. History repeats itself, bringing back old and similar events. History holds significance and provides meaning, wherein humans are like a world spinning around themselves. This research is a literature review or library research with a literature review of books, journals, and notes. The researcher solely relies on literary sources, engaging in activities such as reading, note-taking, and processing research materials. The result of this research is about the history of Islamic civilization as a field of knowledge. Knowledge rapidly flourished during the Abbasid Caliphate. This knowledge is divided into two categories: naqli (textual) and aqli (rational) sciences

Islam is a religion that has complex dimensions. It can be seen and understood from various points of view, phenomena, and also scientific disciplines. The study of Islam is not only related to issues of divinity or faith, but also includes the history of Islamic culture. If Islam is viewed from a normative perspective, Islam is a religion that can apply to the analytical and critical scientific paradigm. Meanwhile, if viewed from a historical perspective, Islam can be said to be a scientific discipline, because it is practiced by humans and grows and develops in human life, so that it can be called an Islamic science, where the scope of the discussion also looks at the social system and cultural phenomena. The purpose of this study is to find out and explain the meaning of the history of Islamic studies and the relationship between normativity and the history of Islamic studies. The research method is categorized in the type of library or literature study research, whether in the form of books, journals, and previous studies. So history or history is a science in which various events are discussed by taking into account the elements of place, time, object, background, and the actors of the event. Thus, normative and historical are closely related and cannot be separated because normative contains issues of divinity while historical contains historical values originating from the Qur'an and hadith.

The complicated process of the Pashtun tribes’ conversion to Islam is indirectly reflected in tribal genealogies, which bear traces of artificial Islamification. Recorded in the early 17th century, these genealogies are poorly consistent with apocryphal Hadiths and hagiographies intended to prove that Pashtuns had steadily adhered to Sunni Islam since the times of the Prophet Muḥammad. The politicised concept of the primordial adherence of Pashtuns to Islam was likely to have been released for wide circulation during the reign of the Lodī sultans in the late 15th century. By the mid-17th century, it became an integral part of Pashtun ethnic identity. However, written sources in Pashto and Persian dating from the same period and originating from tribal areas are unanimous in describing Pashtuns’ religious beliefs and practices as a motley assemblage of Pīrī-murīdī and Pīrparastī customs conforming to the tribalistic ideology of a segmentary Islamic society. More sophisticated forms of Pashtuns’ tribal Islam emerged with the progress of literature in the native vernacular.

He contendedthat the battle with ISIS is mainly textual, for the Qur’an is a “textual container.”Thus, anything beyond the Qur’an and Hadith texts cannot be consideredpurely Islamic, but only a human interpretation of the text. Forexample, if we take history, then “Islamic history” is a highly misrepresentedlabel, for it is only “Muslims” who are participating in “history.” This historicalerror dates from the third Islamic century, with the rise of the “Islamicsciences.”As ISIS is not textually Islamic, not a revealed entity from the heavenof Islam, it cannot be labeled “Islamic” without violating the boundaries ofthe Qur’an and Hadith. On the second level, if ISIS claims to be a Muslimbody interpreting Islam, then its members are not following the agreed-uponrules of interpretation. For example, their selective interoperations not onlywork against the majority of Muslims, including the scholars of Islam, butthey are also being labeled as “deviant” even by other terrorist groups, suchas al-Qaeda ...

While the history of Islam and empire has attracted the attention of scholars for decades, most of their studies have been written primarily as contributions to the historiography of a specific empire or a distinct geographic region and rarely refer to research on other imperial powers, even though the questions and themes raised are remarkably similar. The article brings together these studies, exploring the following topics: Islam and imperial rule and, in particular, the ways in which religious institutions were accommodated and controlled in the colonial state; Islam and anti-imperial resistance; and the relationship between Islam, information, and colonial knowledge. It assesses the dominant themes in the field and points to a number of questions that remain to be studied.

The soul is considered unimportant in Islamic teachings because the Koran states that the soul is God's business. This research adopts qualitative research methods with a focus on exploring Islamic thought regarding aspects of the soul in the context of Islamic thought. The library research approach is used as a data collection method, utilizing written works which include research results, publications and related literature that have a correlation with the research object. Research findings indicate that in the Qur'an, the word "al-nafs" (soul) is sometimes interpreted as spirit, indicating that the soul originates from the spirit. The spirit is considered the essence, while the soul is part of the spirit. Muslim philosophers contributed to understanding the soul, describing it as a spiritual substance with its own role and function. This journal also discusses the Koran's view of the soul, considering the role of ethics, morality, and the relationship between the soul and God in achieving soul perfection and eternal happiness in the afterlife.

The study that Sidek Baba has done is very closely related to the title of this study, which is about debating the concept of Islamic literature in Sidek Baba's views and comments. This study explains the origins of manners and Islamic writings and how the history of Islamic literary ideas in the Arab world and Malay land has emerged. Furthermore, this study is further reinforced by how Sidek Baba accepts the work and art of Muslims and non-Muslims by submitting their concrete arguments and opinions about the conditions of accepting and practicing the content of a work because for him the world of writing works is a daunting field unintelligible for a writer, for the writer who is always practicing with the Islamic teaching to produce a moral Islam that thereby elevates the rank and value of Islam to all over the world.

Tamil language has many special features. One of them is the charity done to Tamil by all religions. Tamil is a language that has been singularly praised by six different religions namely Jainism, Buddhism, Veganism, Vaishnavism, Islam and Christianity. In the history of Tamil literature, Sangam literature can be considered as a secular literature. Thoughts about God are prevalent in Sanskrit literature. But they did not all grow in isolation. Doctrines about God have developed on the basis of department. The literatures of Thirumurukaaruppadi, Paripadal and kalithogai do not become religious literatures as they refer to the gods. They refer only to the theological doctrines of the people of that time. The Sangam literature reveals that religious thought is intertwined with people's lives.

Lewat ulasan terhadap literatur-literatur modern karya I. Goldziher, G. Maksidi, G.H.A. Juynboll, J. A B S T R A C T The research aims to find out the history of literature in the Umayyad era, the Abbasid era, and find out how the relationship between this Islamic library network is. The method used in this study is to use historical research methods. Historical research also has stages of research methods. The first is finding the topic first, the next is the heuristic stage which means finding and gathering sources to be able to find out all past historical events or events, and the next stage is interpretation. The conclusion of this study is that during the Umayyad Daula period a breakthrough was made by developing private libraries, but also developing public libraries. Not a few from this era there are figures who are writers or authors of works in certain fields. Meanwhile, during the Abbasid period, it became the pinnacle of Islamic civilization. Muslim scholars who were experts in various sciences, both religious and non-religious, also appeared at this time. The development of civilization that was so rapid was also supported by the economic progress of the empire which became a link between the eastern and western worlds. Relatively good political stability, especially during the early Abbasid period, also became a trigger for the progress of Islamic civilization. Scientific relations in relation to Islamic literature is a complex relationship. From a historical point of view, this relationship has been established between the West and the East and vice versa, long before the appearance of Islam in the Arabian Peninsula, when the influence of Hellenism had spread to the eastern regions of Persia, Alexandria, Iraq. Keywords: Islamic Literature; Abbasid Daula; Umayyad Daula A B S T R A K Penelitian ini berusaha memahami hubungan antara jaringan perpustakaan Islam ini dengan sejarah sastra pada masa Bani Umayyah dan Abbasiyah. This research focused on the spread of aesthetic discourse in Islamic literature, especially Islamic Indonesian children’s literature which was marginalised in Indonesian literature history. The paper aimed to identify the system of exclusion or prohibition, restrictions to discourse and genealogical aesthetics of Islamic children’s literature. The data utilised were various discourses available in Indonesian literature, aesthetics in the history of the literature mentioned, Indonesian literary experts and critics’ opinions, and different information related to the topic. Data interpretation was executed based on the strategy introduced by Michel Foucault on discourse and power. Results showed that the discourse of Islamic literary aesthetics was deliberately eliminated during the New Order era because it was believed to be a part of the right-wing political power apparatus. That exclusion was carried out with restrictions and prohibitions by highlighting the aesthetics of development and modernity as the dominant aesthetic discourse in Indonesian literature, such as universal humanism. The history of aesthetic discourse in Islamic literature, including Islamic children’s literature, appeared significantly during the Post-Reformation era due to the New Order’s collapse. Hence aesthetic discourses that emerged afterwards were highly diverse and on par with other genres.
This research aims to understand the early introduction of Islam to Sumatra and the Islamic kingdoms in the region by examining the history of religious and governmental development in the area. The research utilizes a combination of literature review and historical analysis approaches. The findings indicate that 1) Islam has been present in this region since an early period. Muslim traders, preachers, and religious teachers from various regions such as Arabia, India, Persia, and China played a crucial role in spreading Islam in Sumatra. The Islamic kingdoms of Samudera Pasai, Aceh, and Minangkabau serve as evidence of the significant development of Islam in the region. 2) The history of Islamic development during the Islamic kingdoms in Sumatra is as follows: a) During the reign of Samudera Pasai, the kingdom became a center for Islamic studies and a gathering place for scholars from various Islamic countries to discuss religious and worldly matters. b) The Aceh Darussalam Kingdom became a center for the development of Islam in Indonesia during the reign of Sultan Iskandar Muda. In Aceh, the Baiturrahman Mosque, places of worship, and Islamic study institutions were built. c) During the era of the Minangkabau Islamic Kingdom, many aspects of customary practices that contradicted Islamic teachings were gradually eliminated, and the fundamental rules of customs were replaced with Islamic principles. The famous Minangkabau adage, "Adat basandi syarak, syarak basandi Kitabullah," means that Minangkabau customs are based on Islam, which in turn is based on the Quran and Hadith.

Reading Islamic history and civilization and contemporary conditions affected by irrational religious narratives, the decline of Muslim society, conflicts, and violence prove that the decline and backwardness of civilization are still continuing in Islamic world. Various formula are offered to revive Islamic civilization. However, instead of compiling a formula with a strong scientific foundation, the response has been increasingly ideological and political from time to time. At the same time, unfortunately, the Muslim community used heretics and prohibitions to purge Islam’s only scientific and rational heritage, philosophy, from the stage of civilization. Through an interdisciplinary approach and critical discourse analysis methods utilizing empirical and literature to reveal the urgency of philosophy as an important tradition related to advance quality of civilization, this research findings important results are; First, Islamic philosophy deals with the creation of scientific and humanist culture which becomes basis progress of civilization. Second, after forbidden by Sunni orthodox which made political alliences with rulers, Islamic philosophy lost its influence, and gradually Islamic civilization declined. Third, decline that continue to this day is the result of the position of Islamic philosophy which has not been sufficiently revitalized in Muslim societies.

This literature review draws on the available evidence regarding Islamophobia in the West. Despite the revolutionary ideas in regards to human rights, Muslims are still being persecuted in different countries and mistreated daily. Islamophobia is a current dilemma for Muslims who are suffering from a lot of abuse as a result of misconceptions about Islam in the face of the refugee crisis, some events in the Middle East, terrorism under the pretext of Islam, and prejudicial representation of Muslims in Western media and politics. Consequently, Muslims in the West are frequently misconstrued and affected badly because of their religion. This paper starts by defining the word ‘Islamophobia’ and tracking its origin. Then it tries to look back in history for the main events leading to the eruption of this phenomenon. Lastly, it sheds light on four aspects of Islamophobia which are violence, prejudice, discrimination, and exclusion.

AbstractJ.Y. Jindo proposes that "history is what characterizes prophetic eschatology and myth is what typifies apocalyptic eschatology." The evidence indicates, however, that a concern for history sits at the heart of apocalyptic literature, or at least the historical apocalyptica. Moreover, the nature and presentation of the history in this literature indicates a pervasive and comprehensive apocalyptic historiography. Since apocalyptic literature played a substantial role in ancient and mediaeval Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—and continues to play some role today—the scope and influences of this historiography might be greater than hitherto envisioned.

Islamic education is always changing from time to time, one of the important things to analyze is Islamic education in the period of progress in the era of the Abbasid dynasty. History records that the journey of Islamic education had progressed so rapidly, far behind Western education. However, later it experienced a setback and was inversely proportional to Western education which continued to soar far ahead of leaving Islamic education until now. Therefore, it is important to reflect on the glorious history of Islamic education or what is called the era of progress in Islamic education. Studying and understanding things that promote Islamic education in the age of progress, as an effort to build Islamic education in the future. Thus, based on the explanation that has been described, the formulation of the problem to be solved in this study is related to the description of Islamic education in the era of progress, in this study, namely library research, namely the type of research conducted by reading books or magazines and other data sources to collect data. data from various literature, both libraries and in other places. History records Islamic education in the Abbasid era as a period of progress and glory of Islamic education. The caliph as the holder of the power is a figure who is so strong and loves science very much. The seven caliphs who were known to love the development of science were al-Mahdi, al-Hadi, Harun al-Rashid, al-Ma'mun, al-Mu'tashim, al-Wasiq, and al-Mutawakkil. The rapid development of science was centered in Baghdad and lasted for approximately five centuries (750 AD - 1258 AD). Throughout the Abbasid Caliphate, many well-known educational institutions have been built, one of which is Baitul Hikmah. During the Abbasid era, the Nizamiyah Madrasah educational institution appeared for the first time and was the forerunner to the development of Madrasah in today's modern era.

AbstractThis article discusses eventual Qurʾānic allusions to Zoroastrian texts by using the example of zamharīr (Q 76:13). In the early tafsīr and ḥadīth-literature the term is most commonly understood as a piercing cold, which has frequently been interpreted as a punishment in hell. This idea, it is argued, has significant parallels to the concept of cold as a punishment in hell or to the absence of cold as a characteristic of paradise in the Avestan and Middle-Persian literature. In addition, Christian and Jewish texts that emphasize a similar idea and have not been discussed in research so far are brought into consideration. The article thus aims to contribute to the inclusion of Zoroastrian texts in locating the genesis of the Qurʾān – or early Islamic exegesis – in the “epistemic space ” of late antiquity.
